You might ask "why does Sierra wear glasses" they're colour correction glasses :0 she can't see colour without em (im aware colour correcting glasses dont work but hey, robot rules) It doesn't really clear up her vision tho? It kinda looks like overlaying colour on black and white images, like weird image colourisation. Glasses couldn't really aid newton that much, even then, they wouldn't even fit where his actual "eyes" are

Normal glasses wouldn't work on a robot because their bad vision isn't caused by light not hitting their retinas correctly its caused by low quality vision sensors/cameras/vision interpretation. If you have a bad quality camera slapping your glasses on it wouldn't suddenly make it HD yknow? For a robot to get their vision fixed would require a lot of rewiring and expensive robot surgeries

world tour is. so much. i could not possibly contain all of my thoughts in one post

the songs are cringe BUT. a fair few of them are cringe in a good way. her real name isn't blaineley is a banger. changing guard mix is a banger. condor is a banger. we built gwen's face is like actually objectively good. versus has some of the funniest lines in the whole of total drama

the love triangle thing is BAD. dreadful. didnt need to happen. duncan didn't need to come back and gwen did Not need to have a crush on him. no need for that!! eww!!! bye

the animal curse thing is also BAD. why did they do that to dj. why did they only ever give him plotlines that made him unhappy. why can't dj have a normal nice plotline like everyone else. fuming!!! it wasnt funny and it wasnt nice to see i just want dj to be happy wadda hell!!

the sierra thing is also BAD!!! BAD!!!! sierra has so much potential as a character and i like fanon sierra i love her weirdgirl energy they should have emphasised that she knows Everything About The Show and let her strategise instead of . cody. what the hell was that. what the HELL was that.

alejandro was interesting (especially when u get past the seducing team victory thing i did not care for that) because like. heather got so far in island for kind of no reason. and for her to see someone doing what she thought she was doing in s1 but infinitely better and more tactful, and to know nobody would believe her because nobody likes her BECAUSE of how she was in s1?? very cool. i like their rivalry they're one of the few acceptable canon ships, partly because even tho they both really like each other they'd still drop the other in a second for money and <3 dont they just deserve each other <3

seriously though the fact that they manage to make you root for heather. one of the few good things fresh has done

july 2022 movie reviews

i watch two movies (one live-action & one animated) a week every month: letterboxd account ★ two movies a week every month list

here are the eight movies i watched for the month of july:

**SPOILERS BELOW**

JULY 4 - THE HALF OF IT

going into this i thought it would be another tatbilb, or even worse, another kissing booth, but i was pleasantly surprised that this was sapphic introspection at its greatest. ish. i love love loved the spray paint scene - probably one of my fav scenes of july - it kinda reminded me of the rock segment in everything everywhere (i’m not over it btw) and it made me pause the movie and squeal for an embarrassingly long time

also, in a way, isn’t this a sapphic (slash bi, altho it was very obvious the only person ellie loved was aster) retelling of sierra burgess is a loser? 

yep. at its very core, the half of it is yet another cyrano effect film. unlike sierra burgess is a loser, though, i loved this movie, because it treads the line between poetic and fun, artistic yet...kinda basic, which isn’t a bad thing, per se. also, while it had a lot of nltog moments, there were a lot of scenes that made this movie awesome. i’ll prob rewatch soon once i have time 🫶

JULY 5 - LIZ AND THE BLUE BIRD

(i actually went to watch rise of gru on the same day, but since i watched it at the cinema i decided not to include it here)

screams. i love this movie to pieces! yet another sapphic masterpiece for the month of july, mostly because i was really out of it in june (bc i binged so many series). i actually watched hibike euphonium a very long time ago, and lemme tell u rn i was so. disappointed when i heard that kumiko and reina don’t end up together. i had to turn to fics to ease my pain. 

SO. i decided to watch liz and the blue bird. holy. this movie is SO poetic. almost like worship? like.....religious. except not to god, but to their...well, love? the movie never explicitly says the forbidden L word but it is very heavily implied that they have feelings for each other, WHICH MAKES ME LOVE their devotion to each other EVEN MORE. 

the actual liz and the blue bird story in the movie actually made me cry. i loved the caged bird imagery, the way liz had to let the blue bird go for her to be able to fly again, even though it hurt her...even though the blue bird didn’t want to leave her...sigh. love is selfless after all i guess. sometimes i wish it were a little more selfish bc they deserved to be together 😞

i love the fact that at the start of the movie the text says disjoint, and by the end it finally says joint. it’s another small thing that affects the whole movie’s atmosphere and it was done phenomenally!

JULY 11 - MONTE CARLO

this is the kind of movie you would watch on disney channel when you were really young, fall asleep in the living room, and wake up in your bed. like magic? well, i probably only feel this way bc selena gomez is in it lol 

BTW can we take a sec to appreciate the visuals in this movie?? by visuals i mean how beautiful the main characters were. selena is SO PRETTY in this i actually couldnt stop staring BUT ALSO leighton is gorgeous as always and altho i dont really know katie she is also so so beautiful. this was a solid movie, super cute and exciting. also idk why but it kinda reminded me of the parent trap. well. i guess it’s obvious why it reminded me of the parent trap, but eh. it’s weird to think that we have complete doppelgängers out there tho

i didn’t care too much about the love interests besides meg’s, because he was legitimately awesome. man. i liked that grace and theo met up again at the end but as i said, don’t really care too much about him. RIP cory 😔

JULY 12 - BARBIE MARIPOSA

this movie has one of the most iconic opening sequences in barbie history. also, is it really considered a rewatch if the last time i watched this i was like 5 with no capability to retain any sort of fondness for it

great movie, i loved that they didn’t make the “mean girls” evil but instead gave them tremendous character growth. this is modern (2008) feminism yall

YAY ANOTHER ZOEY DEUTCH MOVIE! i love this woman more than i love myself sometimes so i was devastated when she died. jk. she survived but i was horrified for a hot sec

i actually watched this at the gym with my phone bared for all to see so when it came time for that scene with madison and columbus i simply turned my phone around and waited it out. btw i almost fell on the tread when avan freakin jogia appeared bc what is he doing in zombieland as a hippy

i also cant tell what exactly it is wichita wants. like...ok. her “i don’t get attached” bs would be a nightmare for me to deal with so columbus stronger than me fr

JULY 19 - BARBIE MARIPOSA & THE FAIRY PRINCESS

yk those movies that aren’t sapphic but are universally agreed upon as sapphic-coded? this is one of them. GAH i love their connection. they r so cute 🥰 

i love the forgiveness scene bc it kinda reminds me of what should’ve happened by the end of beauty and the beast. the prince finally giving the witch a place to stay = catania giving gwyllion a crystallite. isn’t it safe to say then that mariposa is the beauty and catania is the beast....but they’re both beauties, so i guess it’ll just be beauty and beauty. beauty2

JULY 25 - FOREVER MY GIRL

listen. i trusted jessica rothe bc i loved her as tree in happy death day, but this movie.....had me wanting to punch. liam. so bad. LIKE HOW DOES SOMEONE MESS UP THAT BADLY. first man LEAVES her at the altar, next he wont return her calls TRYING to tell him she’s pregnant, and now he just wants to up and rejoin her life, as if he hasn’t been absent from it for 8 YEARS???

while i hated the male lead i still enjoyed the movie, all the little things. liam is so constantly horrible to the people around him but they STILL forgive him bc its a christian movie so forgiveness has to be a thing apparently. personally i would’ve punched him harder josie

but i gotta admit the voice mail thing is pretty romantic. probably one of the only things i liked about liam was his beat up old cellphone with the voicemail he listens to every single day. btw liam page...liam payne...coincidence i think not

another rewatch because i am insane. since when was kung fu panda a cinematic masterpiece?? since the 2nd movie ofc bc lord shen is one of the greatest movie villains ever idc 

good lord i remember liking him so much i literally had like a folder of deviantart fanart of him which is pretty disturbing if u ask me but rewatching it made my adoration for him increase tenfold. kung fu panda 2 is the best kung fu panda movie and i WILL die on this hill

the animation was PHENOMENAL and it had some of the most epic fight scenes in the movie series. i love how this movie added to po’s background and how he ended up as the dragon warrior. plus the way his and tigress’ friendship developed! what i love most tho is the father son bond between po and ping. made me tear up x10 so i was basically crying a river. i also didn’t realize how hilarious kung fu panda is, i haven’t laughed like that in a long time (since everything everywhere) (so like since a month ago)

aang: ummm the best singer EVER like bro is an airbender: hes got FANTASTIC breathe support. his directors always wanna cast him as the lead because hes also a triple threat (remember his dancing w katara??? remember how well he played pippinpaddleopsicopolis (i def spelled that wrong oops) manz can sing dance and act hes a star) BUT he always auditions for the comedic side kid characters because those are the ones he wants and no one else is funny enough to play them. it works out well since they have tenor king zuko to be the male lead.

katara: strongest belt you have ever heard in your LIFE. can riff like no other. but the thing is shes an alto so she never gets the parts she deserves because in my experience directors always favor the sopranos. however she is the BEST dancer no matter what cast she is in so she always gets these BEAUTIFUL solo dances and people flip out over them.

sokka: he thinks hes a tenor so he always tries to sing the high stuff (and he can! he does have the range and can hit the notes but he doesnt realize its straining his voice a little bit) so when he gets casted in a baritone role and fucking KILLS IT everyones like holy shit hes amazing. like katara hes got a pretty powerful belt but again if he tries to go too high hes gonna strain his voice. despite not being able to belt too too too high like tenor king zuko, his mix voice is very good and his falsetto is fucking amazing (jersey boys sokka from my yuekka senario last week anyone?)

toph: see you THINK shed be an alto but NOPE. she is a classically trained soprano because of her parents and her classical voice is fucking beautiful. never a dry eye when this girl sings. coukd easily be christine in phantom if she wanted. despite this due to her short height and small frame she is always cast as the little boy characters that are too big of roles to cast random little kids and too high for the other men. example: she was james in james and the giant peach and she was FANTASTIC.

zuko: tenor king.

suki: OUR LEADING LADY. started out as a mezzo soprano w a strong belt and evolved into a true soprano who can actually sing on pitch (no offense to my soprano friends out there. its just. in my hs. EVERY girl thoight they were a soprano. in reality we had two true sopranos. out of like 40 girls who thought they were sopranos. it was a nightmare.) zuko and suki are almost always paired up for the romantic leads in the shows and become besties because of it. very very good dancer as well. back to her voice. im thinking veryyyyy eva noblezada mixed with laura osnes.

azula: soprano queen azula for the same reasons zuko is a tenor king. however: due to the fact that she cannot act or dance for SHIT takes away from her singing talents. its okay tho! she still gets every female lead because no one else can sing like her. the director just makes sure to have everyone dance around her in big numbers and chooses shows where the acting isnt too hard. her school and zukos school are rivals and during hs musical award season it gets HEATED.

mai: alto queen. alto queen. alto queen. who is always playing the female villains and loving every minute of it? mai. her voice is low and haunting and very beautiful to listen to. it gives you shivers and goosebumps because how can her range go that low??? alto queen what more can i say. her raspiness is just *chefs kiss* the cherry on top.

ty lee: dancer first. girl cannot sing for her LIFE. literally so bad she cannot carry a tune at all. but her dancing and actor save her so she always gets the funny girl roles that dont require much ir any singing at all. she always tries her best tho! and by senior year of high school her voice is actually barely tolerable instead of downright painful to listen to. her dancing is on par with kataras and they always make ty lee do the show stopping acrobating tricks even if the show doesnt have that kind of vibe. shes just so energetic onstage that people go crazy for her tricks.

yue: soprano legend. her voice is literally a disney princess voice. she would get all the female leads but she gets stage fright and prefers being in the ensambke anyways. but seriously if you listen to this girls soft voice you will get tears. think denee benton and sierra boggess.

jet: TENOR PRINCE. always either zukos understudy or his best friend character. there have been multiple times when jet suited a role better than zuko wcting and dancing wise but they still have them to zuko because yk. tenor king zuko. favorite role by far was when he was judas in jesus christ superstar and zuko was jesus (jet stole the show in this one which is why its his favorite. he managed to steal the show even when zuko sang gethsemane. the ONLY reason im choosing this show for this hc is because tenor king zuko would fuckin KILL gethsemane and jet has major judas vibes. also judas is hot in this show WHOOPS)

WE THE NORTH WEEK 2K21 - DAY 006

↬ innovation = haley ↫

i picked this early on and then i thought i wasn't thinking about this right and then i realized i was and so i came back to this. i did not fit all of @charlieweasleyy's characters on here because i could barely fit the four. have you ever noticed how muscians suck in the image department, no? just me? okay then. moving on

*barney stintson voice* have you met haley? i'm sure you have because she's everywhere and she's friendly and lovely and honestly one of the best people (even tho she got me in a lot of trouble this week). i thought about putting haley for relevance a time or two while i was struggling with that prompt BUT i feel like she paves the way which lead me back to keeping her characters in this position. buckle up bc this is going to get long again.

lets get this party started (haley can correct me on anything i say that's not accurate)

James was one of my first favourite characters on the site, which everyone knows because you've heard me gush about him every appreciate week in june since i joined and prob at any given moment elsewhere. and i love what haley is doing with him, the story that she's telling with him, the way he's changing and the way he's seeing the world is evolving and its not because of the fact that he's married to prudence. but its because of the way the world sees and treats him, some times its got me cheering while reading and other times i feel incredibly sad about it. he's not the only black character on the site but he's the most involved in the social issues (i could be wrong and if i am, apologies) and i am excited to be joining haley with that. everyone got their characters involved in BLM last year, but since that moment i've heard haley talk about how she wants to keep doing things like that with james. i've wanted an activist character for a while now (i get that itch specifically around june yearly because of a show i watch every june) and i felt like james' estrange cousin was my best opportunity.

Then there is Hakim, who admitted i wasn't as aware of (as well as i could have been) until i made his sister Pari. and haley came at me with all these thoughts and head canons of the family and everything that she'd thought about with hakim which, i played myself because i love this character so much more now and all he does is hurt me. she popped into a group chat of the siblings and proposed a ramadan thread idea and then another but followed it up with like 1298742190 other links so that we could be informed while we were writing it. those links came in during the span it took me to find a single article. and it helped me flesh out pari a bit more and figure out how i wanted to shape her as a mix of tradition beliefs and non traditional. i just love this family and he's one of my favourite characters to read.

Mitch is a character i know i would struggle with, that rang true more so when we were not a site in canada. (idk if you've all seen my little breakdown about the *voices in your head* concept but sometimes separating me from characters isn't always easy. ) but she does it with such grace and respect, mitch could be seen as just a one dimensional character because we all seem to just write off conservatives. not to mention haley made a cop during the current climate. while i think that is valid at times, political stance doesn't always equal personality or mean that a person embodies everything of that political party (maybe its a privilege of living in canada where our conservatives are progressive idk dont @ me, let me gush in peace) and i think that's well represented in mitch. he has his beliefs, he has put his foot in his mouth and he married someone that can call him out when needed. but he's such a good person despite in his faults or in spite of them. the way haley approaches him is lovely. i can't wait to see the growth with mitch over the next few years, some of what i know, others which i don't which is always exciting to see unfold.

Sierra, i've loved them for a while like love love loved them and i could not think of ways to get plots with them that would span more than a thread and i was frustrated. one day we will get a ship (i tried with sierra but alas the stars did not align but that's okay) having them become part of tez's little crew has been one of my favourite things, i love the dynamic between them. but i did have a brief moment in 2040 where i had a friends to lovers sort of ship with sadie who was trans and haley didn't even think about it, like it was just a natural decision for her. which is the way it should be. so i was not at all surprised when sierra became non binary in like six hours of the news breaking and how haley just went about that whole process in a day. and i haven't been able to stop thinking about it and how its got me thinking about something similar.

a lot of things i've seen in haley's writing has inspired me to be more like haley. to take more chances. i wish i could think like her so i think my goal for year six is going to be simple. i'm going to approach it with:

what would haley do, and then act accordingly. but i think she's always going to be at the forefront of innovative ideas on the site and i love to see it. even more, i'm glad i get to be part of it at times. that was a lot, thanks for coming to my "all about haley" talk.

Oh man, im influenced by a bunch of art and comics but i couldnt pin down specific inspirations for those haha

as for the more broad sense, i also have a bunch of things! significantly, physics and space. it might not look like it but i think a lot about the logistics of things and whatever rules would exist in my universes etc. it does suck sometimes bc it prevents me from doing things just for the hell of it, but i love applying knowledge to things. and space has always been something really close to me, my dad’s an astrophysicist so ive been exposed to all sorts of cool knowledge about it since i was a wee bab 

i also really really love metaphors and symbolism, but rather than take inspiration from things i just use my own personal symbolism x) i put a lot of myself in what i do. which.. i guess could be said for many artists too so its not too special haha

and also as with many other artists, i AM fueled by spite significantly. specifically 1. for the people who once thought or who still think id never be good to do art, or that id never get better at what i do. 2. for people who draw wings wrong (especially professional people? what’s wrong with you. im begging you to look at a bird) 3. for people and companies that make terrible designs with terrible decisions (they fuel me to do better than them) 4. for people who believe that the only way to be good at art and design is to make overly complex and visually charged, detailed designs with many colors/hues (all my ocs are fairly simple and have the most limited colors kffhk) 

im sure there’s a lot more but ive spent a lot of time writing this out already and i cant really think of anything else so i hope this is a good enough answer!! 

god i do NOT have enough knowledge for this but what the fuck was up with the volturi lol. like fuckin, vampire goth club over there did nothing to change over hundreds of years, all of them still stuck in their medieval ways. i remember a plot point that was touched upon was that they had a specific person lure in a bunch of lost tourists through the sewer entrance so that the volturi could drink them and like ?? bro. how is this not investigated at any point, ever. like a shit ton of tourists just disappear ??? all the time?? and no one gives a fuck?? no investigation?? what do they do with the bodies?????

also, they were willing to blast the carlisle family into fucking orbit over Turning A Child (tm) into a vampire, but they had absolutely no qualms about vampire wars/soldiers where a lot of people were irresponsibly turned into neophytes for their strength (like jasper) or people who turned others just for the fuck of it or bc theyd have sickass powers (like benjamin. that was the sole reason for benjamin being turned. bc the dude could feel that benj would have cool powers and he absolutely did... he was a fucking avatar. controller of the elements. and he did absolutely jack shit in the books. im still so mad) 

but yeah anyway the volturi are big hypocrites. got nothing to say about their lifestyle and aesthetic tho bc italians just be like that

his horns and the spikes on his forearms and tail are rly solid and rly pointy so theyre about as dangerous as a solid, pointy big thing can be

the spikes on his neck and back are a lot softer though. theyre flat scales and are probably bendy, but still sturdy. they don’t have edges or anything so you wont be sliced up if you touch them but touching them is probably not too comfortable

alex would probably be a crocodile tbh! it’s one of the things i based his dragon form off of for the latest iteration, and i just think it fits him a lot (also its funny that crocodiles are water creatures but alex has a Big Dislike of water)

also i literally cannot see adri as anything other than a snake sklhfsdk. its what he is!! this is like asking someone’s favorite color but not letting them choose their actual favorite. do you want me to lie? do you want me to say something not true??

Honestly i always loved deer but refused to acknowledge it, especially to myself, and much less thought about having one as a sona bc “prey animals are lame” was rly prevalent in my circles for the longest time. everyone was a dragon or a wolf etc bc they wanted to be cool and so did i but i never vibed with it it took me a rly long time to just accept that i rly liked deer haha and i think what made me decide on it in the end was ‘well i can make a deer more monstery if i wanted to, i have that power’ and so i did  then later i tied the whole ‘wrong deer’ aesthetic to my own personal symbolism of always being picked on by many until i got sick of it and learned to stand up for myself. my sona is something that’s not for people to prey on anymore, and so am i c:

Can you tell me about your different OCS? Like if they belong to a specific fandom or if they are just people you created because you would like yeah I can do that. I was telling my friend about my OCS and I know you have some so I'm just curious

anon i have waited e i g h t years for an ask like this, you have no idea how happy you have just made me 

99% of my ocs are all from original stories (i toyed with miraculous ladybug ocs back in the day, but nothing ever came of them, and honestly the idea of making fandom ocs nowadays makes me a little uncomfortable). ive had a pretty overactive imagination since i was a kid, which has culminated in a bajillion different stories starring a multitude of different characters over the years (i am w a y too easily inspired) 

truth be told i have a l o t of ocs (almost 100+ from around 15 different stories😬 ) so i’ll just talk about what i consider to be my main two pairs of ocs 

first up is Kitty and Brian, who you might have seen me affectionately refer to as the heliotropes: 

these two are from a story me and two friends have been working on on and off for the past seven years. they’re young super powered mutants from the year 2284, trying to solve a string of nearby mutant disappearances after the local police refuse to take the case seriously. the story is a combination of wacky teen hijinks and an exploration of what it truly means to be human (mostly just wacky teen hijinks tho lol) 

Kitty and Brian are childhood best friends who’ve endured quite the ordeal throughout their early teens. even though mutants have become somewhat commonplace amongst their society, the world still seems to be pitted against them, and they depend heavily on one another for support, especially as the story progresses. 

even tho they’re best friends, i did intend them to be complete opposites of one another in multiple ways;  

-Kitty is cold, brash, and somewhat aggressive; Brian is sweet, gentle, and a little bit meek.-Kitty has dark hair and light purple eyes; Brian has light hair and dark purple eyes-Kitty comes from a big and boisterous family, while Brian lives alone with his maman (who is rarely home due to work) 

One thing they do have in common is that they are both viciously protective of each other and their families (Kitty esp. is very protective of her younger sisters, even though they routinely get on her nerves) 

i originally wanted to publish this story as a webcomic, but frankly i don’t think it’s ever going to happen lmao. still, these two hold a special place in my heart and i still think about them a lot 🥰

second up is Sierra and Emma (i dont have a name for these two akin to ‘heliotropes’, but believe me, im trying): 

i created Sierra (originally named Sera) in mid 2017 as somewhat of a self insert character based on a series of strange dreams i had about my nana’s old house. i originally wanted to make the story into a side scrolling point and click puzzle game, until i got in RE at the beginning of last year, at which point the story did a complete 180, Sierra got a complete character revamp, and Emma was created. 

the current story around these two involves Sierra finding a contract for a job her late grandmother allegedly never had, working for a company (Miracle Enterprises) that she viciously hated. In an attempt to try and find some answers, Sierra tries to break into the former Miracle family estate, at which point she’s caught by Emma (the youngest member of the Miracle family).  

Emma is undoubtedly untrusting of Sierra at first, but after hearing her motives, she offers to help Sierra in her search, hoping that she’ll uncover more about her family’s own shady business practices along the way. 

their relationship is rocky at first - Emma grew up in a strict and sheltered environment, and she doesn’t always approve of Sierra’s bold personality and blatant disrespect for rules - but they eventually start to get along and even begin developing feelings for each other. 

the story actually gets a lot more intense (monsters, super shady businessmen, constant emotional turmoil etc.) but i don’t want to give too much away just yet 🤫
