Destry Allyn Spielberg’s Directing Debut Will Be ‘Please Don’t Feed The Children’; ‘Downton Abbey’s Michelle Dockery Starring

Michelle Dockery is set to star in Destry Allyn Spielberg’s directorial debut, Please Don’t Feed the Children. The elevated genre feature film will begin production late April in New Mexico. Scripted by Paul Bertino, the psychological thriller is produced by Jason Dubin and his Perry Street Films, Josh Kesselman and Michael Hagerty.

In Please Don’t Feed the Children, after a viral outbreak ravaged the country’s adult population, a group of orphans heads south in search of a new life, only to find themselves at the mercy of a deranged woman harboring a dangerous secret.

Spielberg, daughter of The Fabelmans helmer, will do this film before the one on which she originally expected to make her feature debut, Four Assassins (and a Funeral). The latter, a Kingsman-meets-Knives Out meets-Succession-style script by Ryan Hooper that made the 2021 Black List, will percolate a bit longer but is still in the works from Basil Iwanyk & Erica Lee’s Thunder Road Pictures. The pic will just move back as the other one was ready to go.

Spielberg won Best Thriller at City of Angels Women’s Film Festival in 2022 for her short film, Let Me Go the Right Way. She co-wrote the screenplay with Owen King, and it premiered at the 2022 Tribeca Film Festival, with Hopper Penn and Brian D’Arcy James starring. Her work as an actress includes Licorice Pizza and an episode of the miniseries I Know This Much Is True.

Said Spielberg: “I am so grateful to have the opportunity to bring this story to the screen with such a collaborative and inspirational team. This picture is so much more than just a horror film. It’s a dream come true to work with a talent such as Michelle Dockery. I am excited to elevate the genre with our incredible cast and crew.”

Dockery is Emmy nominated for playing Lady Mary on Downton Abbey and its two film spinoffs. She also was Emmy-nommed for the Scott Frank-created limited series Godless and co-starred in the Guy Ritchie-directed The Gentlemen and opposite Chris Evans in the Morten Tyldum-directed Apple TV+ limited series Defending Jacob and the SJ Clarkson-directed limited Netflix series Anatomy of a Scandal. She just wrapped Stephen Knight’s six-part limited series This Town.

Biography

Axel Hughes was born on March 15, 1988, in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania, to Erica and Timothy Hughes. As the only child of a wealthy couple, he was doted upon and had an idyllic childhood. He attended the prestigious William Penn Charter School, where he excelled in his studies and was known for his charismatic personality. However, his world was shattered when he was just 12 years old. His parents had traveled to Wilmington, NC, for a couple's retreat. Tragically, they were attacked while in their hotel room. Timothy lost his life in the brutal assault, while Erica was left in a coma for over two years. The loss of his dad and the prolonged absence of his mom deeply affected the young boy. He was forced to grow up quickly, relying on the support of his extended family and the staff at his family's estate. When Erica finally regained consciousness, she had forgotten almost everything—including her own son. The once-close bond between mother and child had been severed, and it took several long and painful years for them to reconnect and start rebuilding their relationship. 

As a result of this traumatic experience, Axel grew resentful of the town of Wilmington. He blamed the city for the tragedy that had befallen his family and the subsequent upheaval in his life. This resentment grew when he heard of the mayor's death and the rumors swirling around about the city. His anger festered for years, and he vowed to one day see Wilmington destroyed—just as his own life had been shattered. The resentment consumed him, making it difficult for him to focus on anything else. He became obsessed with getting revenge—spending hours alone plotting various acts of vengeance. His hatred of Wilmington started dictating many aspects of his life.

Despite his tumultuous upbringing, Axel managed to graduate from high school with honors. He then went on to attend the University of Pennsylvania, where he earned a degree in Business Administration. After completing his education, he decided to pursue a career in land development—seeing it as a means to exert control over the very places he felt had wronged him. Driven by his ambition and fueled by his resentment, he quickly made a name for himself in the industry. His ruthless tactics helped him amass a considerable fortune, and he soon found himself drawn back to the town he had grown to despise: Wilmington.

Moving to Wilmington stirred up intense emotions in Axel. As he walked the streets, all the painful memories of his childhood trauma came flooding back. He made it his singular mission to acquire as much property in the city as possible. Through shrewd business deals and cunning manipulations, he managed to purchase large swathes of downtown real estate. With each new acquisition, his twisted plan edged closer to fruition. No one had an inkling about his secret vendetta against Wilmington. To the outside world, he was a highly successful real estate mogul with a Midas touch. But behind closed doors, he was planning to burn it all to the ground.

Some positive, in my opinion, things that happened during the election.

Other stuff outside of the shitshow presidential race. the Democratic Party only has itself to blame. I’m not going to try and guilt people who didn’t vote or voted 3rd party. A lot of them were people being deliberately ignored by the Democratic Party so I kind of get it. Things are not going to change by attacking people and being treated like crap was part of the initial problem. If we continue to do it, it’ll make things worse than they’re going to be.

The EXCELLENCE of the confrontation between Greta and Erica though!

Greta thought so highly of herself! The perfect surrogate mother and companion for Frances!

She stalked Frances’s social media, HAD UNLIMITED ACCESS TO HER PHONE, AND STALKED ERICA TO SEND SCARY PICTURES TO FRANCES BUT SHE STILL COULDN’T IDENTIFY ERICA IN A BROWN WIG AND A TEXAN ACCENT.

Also just the very fact that Erica is her roommate/best friend and took it upon herself to find Frances herself by looking for Greta the same way Frances did. She didn’t let Mister McCullen’s PI disappearing deter her from finding Frances on her own.

And then there’s the subtly annoyed, confident look on her face as she pulls off her wig and reveals she’s Erica and drugged Greta. That she’s found her and actually has the upper hand unlike every other interaction between Greta and others. This is unprecedented. Besides Frances, no one has subdued Greta this way.

I just—Maika Monroe was wonderful in this scene.

Since no one is answering, I think I'll go first.

I think I know it's you when I see shape of the head and the face

You know how everyone in cartoons now is doing the curve and short head. Well, you go with a long shape and the eyes have more shape in comparison as well. The way you draw the eyebrows and hair is also a give away for me when I see your art.

Well, that's how I feel it as well. The body shape is more of a hit or miss cause when you draw socks, is different from the other characters I see you draw. Not to say they have the same body, but the shoulders tells me if it's you. Though not as much as the face.

I definitely see what you mean with the body type thing, I tend to mimic the style of the original media when I draw fan art and since Erica has such a distinct simplistic and exaggerated style the mimicry is probably more obvious than something like Spider-Man where the proportions are more realistic

L’incubo continua passando da passato e presente. Carrie l’unica dei 4 ragazzi sopravvissuta è ormai adulta e il suo compito è quello di proteggere la porta ed impedire che si apra di nuovo, per farlo deve lottare contro i continui attacchi dei mostri usciti fuori quando la porta era stata aperta. Attraverso dei flashback sogno/ricordo ripercorriamo il suo percorso vedendo com’è stata addestrata da Arthur, cacciatore di demoni (altro sopravvissuto) che però morirà poco dopo.
