Sorry but anyone who uses the term "torture porn" with a negative connotation or hates on films based solely on them having "too much" gore is just stupid as hell in my eyes. I don't mean that you can't be uncomfortable w/ gore (duh), but that you shouldn't dismiss or discredit a movie just because you, personally, think it's too fucked up. Everyone has their limits, and the point of horror is to help you push them in a controlled environment. If you're nervous about the contents of a movie, you can look for warnings online. If you find you can't handle something you thought you could, you can pause it and either leave it there or come back when you feel you're able to.

Also, people who go on and on about "elevated horror" or talk about horror in an equivalent way (saying that a "good" horror story needs meaning, or symbolism, or to be sophisticated by their own personal standards, etc) are annoying as all hell. Have fun for once in your miserable snobby life. Go watch the 2013 Evil Dead remake or something.
