Skyline is very active in N1 endurance
Beginning in 1991, hot battles between skylines have been unfolding in the popular N1 endurance race, which is now approaching JTC. An N1 is a mass-produced vehicle with more than 5,000 units produced over a period of 12 consecutive months.
Performance is directly reflected in the race
category.
Like JTC, this is also intense every time
The battle is unfolding, and it is worth seeing.
It has become a certain race content.
Considered to be top 3 based on performance so far
Shinichi Katsura/Takahiko Hara's Nissan Altia Falken GT-R, Takayuki Kinoshita/Eiji Yamada's ZEXEL Skyline, and Tomohiko Sunako/Toshiya Fujiwara's Nissan Prince Tokyo Skyline. These three cars will probably have a fierce battle until the final race.
By the way, what's interesting about the early stages of the season is that for some reason, newlywed driver Ichi is winning. Both Sunako in Round 1 and Katsura in Round 2 were newlyweds, and perhaps it was because they found a place of peace at home and became even more enthusiastic about the race.
By the way, N1 endurance is Tsukuba's night game endurance. This year it will be a 12-hour race, running through the Tsukuba Circuit on a summer night. Even if the results in the series are unsatisfactory, there are some drivers who want to win at Tsukuba. Japan's greatest
Which team will win the long race?
Which driver?
PIC CAPTION
The number of fans is rapidly increasing with fierce battles in N1 Endurance every time.

The YASHA CD Drama, Stage 1; A Long-Awaited Arrival To Our Arsenal
The first thing my beloved collaborator, @toichinagae, told me about when they reached out to me was the existence of the YASHA CD drama. I was very intrigued, as I'd never heard of it before. I knew of the TV drama, in fact I'd archived it a month or so beforehand, but I never knew that there was a CD drama that not only followed the manga more closely, but also featured some anime voice actors that I NEVER would've expected to work on it!
There are two CDs, this post will be focusing on the first one, referred to as "Stage One." This CD was released on March 24th, 2000, and produced by Pioneer LDC(Currently known as NBCUniversal Entertainment Japan.). This drama's screenplay was written by Asami Watanabe(I could not find any information about them online, it seems there is a key animator by the same name, I am unsure as to if they are the same person.), with music by Nobuo Ito.(Once more, there is very little information about them online.)
The cast list, as sent to me by @toichinagae via email, is as follows(I added some notes on notable characters each voice actor has played, just because I find it interesting.):
有末 静:石川 英郎   Arisue Sei: Hideo Ishikawa(You may know him from Doukyuusei, where he played Hara-sen.) 雨宮 :辻谷 耕史  Amamiya Rin: Koji Tsujitani 有末 比佐子: 井上 喜久子 Hisako Arisue: Kikuko Inoue(You may know her from Kiki's Delivery Service, wherein she played Maki.) 雨宮 協一郎:梁田 清之  Kyoichiro Amamiya: Kiyoyuki Yanada(You may know him from Perfect Blue, wherein he played Kantoku 永江 茂市:松本 保典 Nagae Moichi: Matsumoto Yasunori(You may know him from Sk8 the Infinity, wherein he played Joe.) 永江  十市: 野島 健児 Toichi Nagae: Kenji Nojima(You may know him from Banana Fish, he voiced Eiji.) 三上 尊:子安 武人 Takeru Mikami: Takehito Koyasu(You probably know him from somewhere, I personally know him from Jojo's Bizzare Adventure as DIO, and Adam from Sk8 the Infinity.) ケン・クロサキ: 古澤 徹 Ken Kurosaki: Toru Furusawa(You may know him from the '98 Trigun anime, wherein he played Millions Knives.) ライアン博士 池田 勝  Dr. Ryan: Masaru Ikeda ホッジス少佐:中 博史 Major Hodges: Hiroshi Naka(You may know him from Cowboy Bebop, where he plays Jobim.) 伊東 泰之:飛田 展男 Yasuyuki Ito: Nobuo Tobita (Unclear on who exactly this character is. This va was in Darling In The Franxx, but I don't think he had a notable role there.) 有末 静 (12才): 山田 美穂 Sei Arisue (12 years old): Miho Yamada(..She seems to have done work for a number of projects that are not appropriate for this blog. More power to her.) (*Note Toichi's voice at 12 years old is currently unknown.)
These CDs are currently untranslated, but you can find the .wav files for both in this drive folder.
I intend on creating youtube uploads for each track, for ease of use to potential translators and general accessibility for people who's devices cannot run .wav's(..if any exist lol.)
More to come soon!!

minami shimabara's very own virgin mary
Tumblr media
While on a trip to Minami Shimabara this spring to visit friends, a local man invited us to the unveiling of something that I imagine will eventually become a huge tourist attraction for Christian travellers. This is the Saint Mary Kannon of Hara Castle, called 原城の聖マリア観音 in Japanese.
This statue was created by sculptor Eiji Oyamatsu, a now almost 90-year old man over the course of about 40 years. He is a Christian Japanese man who wanted to create a memorial to the victims of the Shimabara rebellion.
Tumblr media
As I've mentioned before, due to the heavy amount of Western influence in Nagasaki during and before the Edo period, many Japanese people converted to Christianity. During the isolated Edo period, the Shogunate decided to outlaw Christianity and many believers living in Shimabara launched a rebellion against the government at the site of Hara castle. (The rebellion was not fully due to the persecution of Christians, but also involved several other factors like the raising of taxes and the Shogunate's overall oppressive rule.) The rebellion was crushed by the Shogunate and 37,000 rebels were executed. There is a memorial cross monument at the site of Hara castle to memorialize the victims, but after a visit to Nagasaki by the Pope in 1981 in which he talked about the persecution of Christians in Japanese history, Mr. Oyamatsu became inspired to create the Mary statue as a grand tribute.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
The large wooden Mary statue, currently one of the largest wooden statues in the world, was made using a special technique of carving large hollowed out rings of 200 year old camphor trees stacked on each other. Here are some pictures of the sculpting process taken from the official website. The statue stands at 10 meters (~33 ft) tall and 2.5 meters (~8 ft) in width.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
Creating this statue took almost 40 years. This is not just because of the scale and detail put into the statue, but because Mr. Oyamatsu struggled for a long time to receive funding for the project and put 15 million yen (about 100,000 USD) of his own money into it.
In 2014, Mr. Oyamatsu requested funding from the city government of Minami Shimabara to transport the statue and renovate a memorial building to house it. He offered the statue as a donation to the city and wanted it to become a World Heritage Site, which would bring many tourists to Minami Shimabara. At first the city was very interested in the proposal since it would bring international attention and tourism to the area, but some citizens complained that giving government money to the project would be a violation of the separation of church and state, and in the end the proposal was rejected. Mr. Oyamatsu was very disappointed. He expressed that the statue would be an important monument reflecting the history of the region, and not just a religious artifact.
And so the process slowly dragged on as most of the funding has come from personal donations. Finally in 2022, the statue was transported from Kanagawa prefecture, the birthplace of Mr. Oyamatsu where it was built, to Minami Shimabara. From there they put the pieces of the statue back together and began renovating the building that would house it. In late March of 2023, the building finally opened to visitors, and I first visited on April 2nd.
The building is a bit small, located on a cliffside overlooking the water. It was a breathtaking place to have such a grand cultural monument.
Tumblr media
Inside the building we finally got a glimpse of the statue. It was huge, but made with intricate detail. It reminded me of Japanese Buddha statues, and I felt a heavy spiritual presence in the air of the building. The style of the statue was very interesting, with a peaceful face that is reminiscent of enlightened buddha statues. I love that a Western figure had been interpreted into a Japanese art style. The name of the statue also includes the word Kannon, which is the Buddhist deity for compassion. Interestingly, Christianity and Buddhism have been intertwined in the making of the statue, as Mary is deified as a Kannon.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
A man from the Minami Shimabara Citizens Association gave us a warm welcome and took us on a tour of the statue, telling us its history and the struggles it faced to get where it is today. He was very kind and informative, and I was so grateful to learn about Shimabara's history from him. He also took us around the back of the sculpture and showed us the hollow interior of the statue, as well as the sculptor's signature.
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
He also told us about the lack of funding for the project and how there is still a lot that is unfinished. They would like to continue to renovate the building, expand its size, and add bathrooms. The Citizens Association has worked hard and will continue to work hard to turn the small chapel on the cliffside into a world-famous heritage site for Christians and lovers of history alike.
As of now, the website has tallied a total of about 50 million yen (~350k USD) in donations of their 100 million yen goal. With this money, they can continue to expand the building housing the sculpture and turn the site into a more accessible tourism spot.
I was really moved by the beauty and story of this statue. While I am also a staunch defender of the separation of church and state, I think that this statue memorializes an important part of Japanese history and should be protected. After all, much of the world's most beautiful pieces of art are of religious subject matter. Who are we to deny the creation of beautiful works of art based on beliefs that may be different from ours?
If you would like to learn more about the statue and how it was made, you can visit the page here. It's in Japanese, but you can use the translate function in your browser to translate it into English. If you are also interested in donating to help renovate the building, you can do so here.
I hope this work of art can reach a wider audience and the artist receives the appreciation he deserves for his many years of dedicated work.
Thank you for reading <3

Hideko Takamine and Daisuke Kato in When a Woman Ascends the Stairs (Mikio Naruse, 1960)
Cast: Hideko Takamine, Tatsuya Nakadai, Reiko Dan, Masayuki Mori, Daisuke Kato, Keiko Awaji, Ganjiro Nakamura, Eitaro Ozawa, Chieko Nakakita. Screenplay: Ryuzo Kikushima. Cinematography: Masao Tamai. Production design: Satoru Chuko. Film editing: Eiji Ooi. Music: Toshiro Mayuzumi.
If I ran a revival house, I'd like to program a series of double features of American and Japanese "women's pictures." It would give us a chance to compare not only directors like Douglas Sirk and Mikio Naruse but also the actresses most associated with the genre: Joan Crawford, Jane Wyman, and Lana Turner on the one hand; Kyoko Kagawa, Setsuko Hara, and Hideko Takamine on the other. Takamine is the woman who ascends the stairs in Naruse's film, only to hit something like a glass ceiling. She plays Keiko (at first a little confusingly, at least to Western audiences, called "Mama"), a Ginza bar hostess whose job it is to bring in paying customers, especially rich ones, who will while away their after-office hours flirting with her and the fleet of bar girls. She doesn't sleep with the customers -- even the younger women aren't expected to, but sometimes do -- and though she drinks with them, she doesn't particularly like alcohol. But Keiko is on the brink of turning 30, and when the bar starts losing customers to a younger hostess named Yuri (Keiko Awaji), who has left Keiko's establishment to start her own, she begins to see what a dead-end she faces. She doesn't own the bar where she works, and the woman who does is beginning to blame her for losing customers and for not wearing flashier kimonos. She supports her mother and somewhat feckless brother, who has a son who needs an operation to correct a defect left by polio. She begins to hate climbing the stairs to the bar every night and the stress brings on a peptic ulcer, but she can see only three options for her life: Marry, become the mistress of a wealthy patron, or buy her own bar. Each of these opportunities presents itself during the course of the film, only to end in disappointment, and at the end she is climbing the stairs again. Takamine is marvelous, so expressive that we hardly need her voiceover narration to know what she's feeling and thinking, and she's well-supported by Reiko Dan as the younger, more carefree bar girl; Tatsuya Nakadai as the bar's handsome young business manager, who's in love with Keiko; Daisuke Kato as the chubby customer who proposes a marriage to Keiko that she accepts before learning that he's already married and a constant philanderer; and Masayuki Mori as the potential wealthy patron with whom, in a moment of drunken abandonment, she sleeps, only to learn the next morning that he's moving to Osaka. When a Woman Ascends the Stairs is a beautifully made account of problems specific to a time, a place, and a gender, yet universal in its depiction of the frustrations of the working life.

Writing Exercise // AssClass x Tower of God AU - Catching Up
Assassination Classroom - Tower of God AU
Tumblr media
Summary: There was a sudden change in team line up and so Nakamura decided to make a call with someone who is floors away.
Word Count: 1,791 words
• ▪ • ▪ •
"Huh? Asano-kun joined your team?"
Nakamura hummed in reply, her eyes focused on the screen before her, going through the video recordings she had captured earlier during the previous floor test using one of her lighthouses in hopes of finding anything she could use in the near future. "He and that Sakakibara guy apparently got separated from the rest of their teammates during the previous test."
From the other line, Chiba let out a noise of mild disbelief, which Nakamura couldn't blame him for. For an E-rank Regular, Asano Gakushuu had proved himself to be quite the gifted Light Bearer countless of times that just the mere idea of him being separated from his teammates because of a floor test, with how organized and strong the Asano kid had made his nearly perfect team to be as their leader and strategist, is almost laughable.
But considering that the 28th Floor had nearly caused their own team to lose members for good, only having members to be separated seemed more like a blessing than a misfortune.
Nakamura shuddered at the memory.
"Surprisingly, it was them who first approached us when we arrived at the 29th floor," she mused. "Well... the Asano kid to be exact."
"Seems smart on his part, I suppose," Nakamura suddenly heard doors opening on the other line. She assumed that Chiba must have been taking a night walk when he had received her call, as it was currently evening to where she is right now. "I've heard that you guys were the only team to pass the 28th floor for this wave of Regulars... so I guess it's a no-brainer for that guy."
Nakamura swore she could almost see Chiba shrugging his shoulders just as he said those words.
"It's been days since they've joined, you said? No troubles with them so far?"
"Not at all. They've been surprisingly civil with all of us the past few days." Though there was a voice at the back of Nakamura's mind telling her that it was likely because a certain redheaded Light Bearer wasn't around to provoke the Asano. "They even sometimes help nurse some of the others who are still on bed rest."
Chiba chuckled at the other line. "Well isn't that a sight to see?"
Nakamura had discretely installed lighthouses as if they were security cameras at each room of the rather large apartment they had been sharing since their arrival on the 21st floor. It would only take few clicks on her main lighthouse to retrieve the saved recordings of Asano fussing over their injured teamates as he nurses them.
Snickering, she made a mental note to send some of them to Chiba after she's done with her current work.
"Also we definitely appreciate having a rear-type Light Bearer and a Wave Controller since, you know?" Nakamura fought the urge to roll her eyes. "The only ones we had are now floors behind us after stopping their climb to compete at the Workshop Battle?"
Chiba somewhat hissed at that. "I guess that explains why Karma seems to be in a bad mood when we called last month..."
"Yeah, we weren't in agreement that time," Nakamura sighed deeply, closing the tabs and turning off her lighthouse. She supposed it can wait tomorrow.
"I get why."
If Nakamura was being honest, it wasn't the fact that Group 4 joined the Workshop Battle that got the whole team in disagreement. It was the fact that Group 4 have already been planning to compete since they had become E-ranked and yet had never once told the rest of the team until the day they had to claim tickets to join.
Karma may be Team END's key strategist, but the redheaded Light Bearer still had the infuriating habit of strategizing and implementing plans without consulting with the rest of the team, sometimes even executing said plans on his own without anyone's help nor even knowledge.
Nakamura supposed that it was because Karma had initially been trained as a Fisherman before switching to a Light Bearer, but that can't be an excuse anymore since he had over 8 years to break out of that frontliner habit.
It's annoying, really.
Even when Group 4 had won the Workshop Battle with a powerful weapon as their winning prize, it still left a bitter taste on her mouth.
Nakamura hoped that this will be the last time Karma involves their other teammates into his lone wolf shenanigans. They can't afford to be separated much longer the higher they climb the tower.
Not when they still have yet to close the gap to catch up with Chiba and his team like they have promised.
"How are things at your end?" Nakamura asked, wanting to change the topic.
Chiba let out an exhausted sigh. "A bit too fast, I guess. Especially since Kaho's been antsy the past few months."
"Oh?" Nakamura picked up the nearly forgotten tea on the table next to her, prepared by Hara. "What gives?"
Nakamura barely had any recollection of what Tsuchiya is like in personality, as the last time they had personally met was when they were still fairly new to the tower, during the Floor of Tests, which was already about a decade ago. But from the few times that Chiba had mentioned the Light Bearer in their talks, Tsuchiya seems to be a quick thinker who strategizes and improvises well under pressure, especially during battles.
Perhaps that's why Team DREAM had been ridiculously quick with their climb, Nakamura mused.
Well, aside from the fact that they have an insanely solid team line up.
"I'm not entirely sure as we weren't around when it happened but..." There was a slight hesitation in Chiba's tone as he trailed off. "Ever since we saw her with a girl that I believe was from the Harukawa Family, based from her hair and eye colour, she's been like that for some reason."
A Harukawa huh...
Nakamura wasn't exactly the most interested in the Ten Great Families, let alone their relations with each other. But she was at least aware of the common knowledge about the tension between the Tsuchiya and the Harukawa, seemingly started by the Head of the two families themselves.
Could it be rivalry? Mortal Enemies? Nobody knows. But one thing's for sure was that a Tsuchiya and a Harukawa, whether they are direct descendants of the family Heads or not, do NOT get along.
Which is ironic considering that what the two Great families are known for made it seem like they would be a perfect team - The Tsuchiya Family known for their Defenders and the Harukawa Family for their immense talent in Spear Bearing.
But Nakamura supposed that the Tsuchiya daughter already had Chiba for that, who is a talented Spear Bearer himself.
"I mean both families don't get along anyways," Chiba remarked, echoing Nakamura's thoughts. "But it seemed like they personally knew each other beforehand from the way Kaho talked about that Harukawa girl. They probably met during the Floor of Tests... or even before they got called into the tower. Who knows."
Nakamura had never looked so amused. "Childhood rivals?" She snickered.
Chiba chuckled at the other line. "Perhaps."
"So what happens now?"
"Uh well..." Nakamura could hear some rustling from Chiba's side of the call and she swore she just heard faint screeching right after. The sudden noises concerned her a little, so she asked, "Chiba?"
"Nothing. That was Eiji, probably ate something spicy again," Chiba sounded very unamused and deadpan as he said that. Nakamura could faintly hear arguing at a distance if she listened more carefully. "Anyways, Kaho had a burn out. That's one thing."
"It took that to stop her huh," Nakamura replied with a huff. "How many floors have you guys cleared then?"
"Five in 3 months."
What the fuck.
Nakamura's jaw hung wide open when the words had registered in her mind. A normal team would take at least a year to complete 3-4 floors, nevermind five. This is ridiculous. This team is ridiculous. "Geez... and you guys still managed to keep up with her plans and all..."
"To be fair though, the previous floors have been relatively easy," Chiba waved her off nonchalantly. "I would even say that the 20th Floor was much difficult than these five."
Nakamura sighed, leaning back to her chair. Considering it took Team END a whole year to complete the 20th Floor after numerous fails, she supposed she could believe the Spear Bearer's words this time. "Say, how many of you all are from the Ten Families?"
There was a short pause at the other side. "Well there's Kaho of course, then Miki, Daisuke, Miho, Jungyoon, and then me..." he counted.
If Nakamura was smiling right now, she was sure it would have tightened uncomfortably.
It had always slipped from her mind that Chiba himself is a Ten Great Family member despite not being a direct descendant of the family Head, the family tree he's in known for their Water Users, which Chiba had utilized to form his own spears.
But nevermind that. Team DREAM had 6 members from the Great Families? No wonder they're climbing at an incredibly fast pace.
Chiba really found himself a formidable team after he had gotten separated from Team END.
"But even then, only Miki is a direct descendant. The rest of us are too unimportant to be actually feared of as a whole..." Chiba laughed sheepishly. "Well except for our family names of course."
Nakamura would beg to differ.
"Anyways, we're at the 46th floor right now," He continued the previous topic before Nakamura had made that short intermission. "But we'll be taking an indefinite break until all of us had recovered enough to continue our climb again." He informed.
Knowing where he was getting at, Nakamura sighed for the umpteenth time. Unamused, she replied, "So you want us to catch up quickly while you all are basically dormant then, is that right?"
Shit. There is no way they could clear 17 floors before the monster team springs back into action.
Nakamura could feel the cheeky grin that Chiba must be wearing right now.
"Well you have a direct descendant from the Asano family with you now, right?" His tone sounded almost challenging when he said that. "Should be easy enough."
"You can be really annoying sometimes, Ryuunosuke." Nakamura glared at the visible Pocket floating in front of her, as if she can somehow magically transfer a sort of attack towards the other line. It didn't help that there were chuckles coming out of the mechanical sphere.
"Well, what can I say? I learned from the best."
Maybe she shouldn't have teamed up with him and Maehara at the 2nd Floor.

Toonami Weekly Recap 12/12/2020
Sword Art Online: Alicization: War of Underworld Part 2 (Alicization Awakening) EP#17 (41) - Prince of Hell: While Yui notices the server starting, Vassago is about to kill Kirito when Eiji and Yuna arrive to help him. Eiji fights Vassago to avenge his friends from SAO but is defeated and Yuna takes him away. At the occasion, two of the red players recognize Vassago as a member of Laughing Coffin and attempt to dissuade the others, but to no avail, and Vassago uses his powers to make them fight each other instead. In the occasion, Vassago reminisces about his hatred toward Japanese people, which comes from his Japanese father who abandoned him and his mother, who was his mistress, and only came to meet him years later to ask for him to donate a kidney to save his other, legitimate son, leading him to steal a Nerve Gear and log into SAO, despite knowing the risks, so that he could kill Japanese players at will. Meanwhile, Sinon is overpowered by Subtlizer when she manages to turn the battle and almost defeats the enemy, who is forced to retreat, while Leafa fights a horde of red players until exhaustion. Back at the Ocean Turtle, Rinko throws a wrench on Yanai which makes him lose his balance and fall to his death, allowing Higa to proceed with his effort to use Asuna, Sinon and Leafa's Fluctlights to restore Kirito's.
Fire Force Season 2 Fifth Pillar Arc EP#5 (29) - Corna (Sign of the Devil)/A Secret Plan: While fighting Charon, Shinra recalls that Flam Karim said that second generation pyrokinetics cannot create fire but can control it. He suspects that Charon is one of those and tries using the Corna technique again, but the knowledge is of little use against the experienced Charon. Shinra finally manages to focus his attack and succeeds in downing Charon but not defeating him.
Charon prepares to retaliate. The Fire force has its hands full with the demon and the burning buildings. Licht suggests utilizing the power of the second generations to channel the flames into the town square where they are controlled by Maki and turned into a spiraling firestorm. Vulcan and Obi force the demon into the center of the firestorm where it is sucked into its vortex and consumed. Karim then freezes the column solid, extinguishing the flames.
Assassination Classroom EP#14 - Vision Time: Koro-sensei takes the students of Class 3-E to their own private pool that he made, but the students are alerted when Koro-sensei's tentacles swell up when soaked in water. Meanwhile, Terasaka becomes irritated when his friends Takuya Muramatsu and Taisei Yoshida are getting along with Koro-sensei. Terasaka agrees to collaborate with Shiro and Itona in their assassination plan, previously dropping a "bug bomb" in the classroom to excrete Koro-sensei's mucus and secretly adding a transmitter in the pool. Then, Terasaka gathers the other students in the pool, using a gun connected to the transmitter as a signal for Shiro and Itona. Instead, the transmitter sets off an explosion and puts the students in danger, forcing Koro-sensei to get his tentacles soaked in order to rescue the students from being swept away. Koro-sensei is left at the mercy of Itona, while Sumire Hara is hanging onto a tree branch nearby. Following Karma's plan, Terasaka uses his shirt still affected by the "bug bomb" to infect Itona, allowing Koro-sensei to rescue Hara whilst the other students splash water to halt Itona. Shiro and Itona are forced to withdraw yet again.
