alright i know lots of folks don’t love the chaos redesign and some folks are saying they look like meg which like i get, esp with the singular wing but to me? they look like Nyx. they look like they molded their new appearance in the image of their daughter, who they’ve recently reconnected with after aeons of separation. like they have not just emotionally become more the parent of Nyx, but physically mirrored this parenthood, this embodied connection, by choice

Every time I run into a weird adulting situation I feel so bad for adult orphans. Here I am, mumblety-for-internet-privacy-reasons old, more than a decade an adult, and I'm still reaching out to parents and grandparents going, "How do I determine if X is covered by homeowners insurance? What even is homeowners insurance?"

It's all very well to raise people to adulthood, but how do they get by without this sort of support?

Saving the character stuff of this episode for another post, but everything about the Breach operation on Midst that's come up recently feels...not quite cohesive. Specifically, it feels like different higher-ups in the Upper Trust had different ideas of what was going on. Costigan is under the impression that they knew about Breach from Ginsberg's arraignment, which presumably Spahr attended (and possibly presided over). Now, Imelda could be playing Weepe regarding his reveal of the Breach operation, and already knew; but the first mission she sent Phineas on was about Fuze's letter, not Breach. Meanwhile, Phineas didn't seem aware of the Breach operation at all until after the sale of Midst and well after he'd interrogated Tzila. She also, in Oversight, says that Weepe provided key information. Which on the one hand he did; Ginsberg probably didn't know much. On the other hand, it's not like...a big place, and they probably would have figured it out within a week.

Another weird point is Fleit Sr, who seems shocked in Oversight that Jonas brings up Phineas's behavior in the raid and the Maximilan Loxlee case, even though his reason for being present is tied to Breach. And, of course, there's Kozma's admission in the previous episode, which frankly makes more sense if she knew the Trust knew about Breach - get them there and scare them off - but why is the Company not pursuing it at all anymore when they have all the information?

I'm working on fleshing out the plot for my farawyn & eothiriel fancomic and it's,,, y'all,,, this is literally gonna take me like 20 years to finish 😱🤣🤔🫡

It's gonna be hella long 😳 The first chapter alone is gonna be over 25 pages long, and I already have 3-5 chapters planned for and that's not even close to the finish line lol let alone the halfway mark of the story (i mean, it's probably equal to a long-ish fic, but comics take so much more time to tell 🫠). Also I cannot wait for y'all to meet Lothiriel in just a few pages 🤩

Anyway, I'm thinking of MAYBE adding early access pages of this comic and a few others to a low cost tier on my patreon once it's relaunched/revamped bc I really want to be able to post at least one or two pages a month 🤔 tho i'm hoping to maybe post weekly on patreon, so it'd be early access AND faster update schedule, if I go this route. That way i don't feel guilty for spending hours a day/week working on these comics lolll

god i still want to throttle the black mesa devs after all this time. they did all that fanfare about some gold final edition shit or whatever they called it (primarily to cover up the fact that they added a eula that says they'll datamine you if you agree and you need to agree to play multiplayer, as far as i can tell) and the amount of gamebreaking bugs that are still left. STILL. its pretty frickin frustrating

This is something I learned at one of the pre-op visits for my breast reduction! My surgeon was basically I think an independent surgeon (as I guess I would imagine is common for “cosmetic”/plastic surgeons?) and she was telling us a little bit about what to do for talking to insurance about the surgery and stuff, and she mentioned that for us going through insurance it would be at a particular hospital, but she also often did surgeries where people didn’t use there insurance, and she did those at some other place, and the price she charged up front was much lower, because that was the actual cost of the surgery (and equipment and everyone’s salaries etc.) and she had to raise the ticket price significantly when people would go through insurance, because the insurance company would negotiate that price down, and then keep some of the money. (Obviously for us and many others it still worked out to be cheaper for us out of pocket to go through insurance, but the amount she made was roughly the same even though it would look like she charged thousands more for my breast reduction than for someone not using insurance)

So, when you get those bills from your insurance after a doctors visit, and there’s that little table that tells you, this is the cost of the visit, this is the discount we got you, this is how much we paid, this is how much you still have to pay?

That line about “we got you this discount” is misleading. They actually caused the provider to raise the initial cost of your care by that amount, or more, in anticipation of the insurance company refusing to pay the full amount so that they could tell you they got you a discount.

"Why does a 15-minute visit with a doctor cost 150 bucks in America???" you're gonna want to read Money-Driven Medicine, by Maggie Mahar, and probably also The Social Transformation of American Medicine, to answer that question. It is not because your doctor is a greedy bastard; your doctor does not see most of that money. It is because the system is broken to a level that is truly impressive in its dedication to making a shit ton of money for insurance company executives and shareholders.

I feel like it's been ages since I've released a new pack! Thank you so much for your patience! As you may have seen, it's a little bit late in August, and I'm still struggling to deal with my job and the cc, but I've finally finished this set and I'm so happy to share it with you! It's not supposed to be a full collection, I will focus on individual sets as long as I can't find as much time as needed for cc :) Some of you may use the experimental DX11 for their game, which cause some bug and lovely purple question mark items ! So, as Susan's Dining room has a new wallpaper and usually it is the main item having issues, I've tried to batch fix it with Sims 4 Studio. Not 100% sure it will work, especially because I don't use DX11 myself, but if you have this issue, you can download the separate wallpaper package file called "Pierisim_SUSAN_wallpaper_DX11" and see if it works ! Have a lovely weekend 💚

Some items share the same textures so make sure to have the packages finishing by "texture" in your mod folder :)
