If you could completely rewrite 1 BFDI character (as in like personality or whatever else), who would it be and why?

this is honestly the most difficult question i’ve been asked yet. i’ve been sitting here looking at a picture of every bfdi character pondering what i could even begin with

if you asked me for a minor alteration to a character i could give you like five in a heartbeat. but a complete rewrite? i honestly think pretty much all of the bfdi cast have pretty solid personalities, and can’t really think of anything better for them that wouldn’t just be a slight tweak or two

so this is gonna sound like a bit of a cop out (because it is), but. nonexisty. he’s a joke character, i know, but honestly his joke’s worn a lot thinner than pretty much all of bfdi’s other joke characters

let’s make him another cryptid, kinda like evil leafy. something that’s just out there. something’s been moved by an unseen force. the feeling of being watched by an unseen presence (or unpresence). things start to go missing, dragged away to the realm of the nonexistent. some real scp pattern screamer shit. i feel like that could have some potential

So I want to talk about Ed's anger. A lot of people seem to catagorize the Kraken as angry. And a lot of meta has been written about how actually it's a defense mechanism not anger. But I am having a lot of feelings about how fucking scared he is.

Like I've made visual references. We see Ed angry four times that I can identify and one of these times he's also feeling other things.

Like he's a screamer. I've said it ever since the beginning, he's an intense guy and he feels his emotions pretty intensely. He's a screamer, is what I'm saying. He doesn't hold back his emotional response.

But all of the Kraken scenes whatever emotions he's having in that top video are certainly not the same emotions he's having in the Kraken scenes.

But the scene I want to zero in specifically on is this one.

I'll just describe the scene for you. Izzy says his little "this is Blackbeard, not some namby pamby in a silk gown pining for his boyfriend," line and then Ed slams him against the wall and says in a very low, quiet tone "Choose your next word's wisely dog" and his face looks like this

And then Izzy brushes his hand against Ed's face and makes it incredibly weird.

To me that doesn't seem like anger. That's not how Ed expresses his anger under normal circumstances. Under normal circumstances he gets loud, maybe he breaks something. I think this particular choking thing is a performance. Because to me this voice sounds closest to the voice Ed is using at Story Time when he's specifically trying to be menacing to the crew. (specifically while he's telling the story of how his dad dies and then again when he says "She just might answer") It doesn't sound exactly like that because he's directing it at someone in an aggressive manner, but that's what it sounds the most like to me.

Basically he's preforming Blackbeard for Izzy right now, not having an angry outburst. I would like to posit that this is because the emotion he's experiencing right now is fear, not anger. This is akin to a fawn threat response (i.e. immediately trying to please or pacify the threat in order to avoid conflict.) It just looks different because pleasing and pacifying Izzy looks different than pleasing and pacifying other people.

And Izzy gives him some....

Positive(?) feedback. Feedback that means it's working.

Then then next time he does anything violent it's after he's had time to think. He throws Lucius overboard. He's not angry in this scene either

He fucking smiles at Lucius, does a full on Kubric stare, and acts pretty numb about it after he does it. He's laying it on thick with the "I'm Evil" bit in that scene. And then during the toe scene, that fucking voice shows up again whatever he says right after he says "open up" is in that Blackbeard TM voice.

Ed hasn't once in the show before this bothered to hide or temper his emotions, he's an incredibly expressive man (or a highly emotional person as David Jenkins has described him), but in every scene in between when he lets go of the fabric and when he's alone in his room crying motherfucker is going for the Oscar, he's got a full mask over his emotions. Izzy showed him in the scene where he touched his face that this would work in terms of satisfying him that blackbeard's back so he performs and performs and performs. Why? Because he's afraid, not angry. Blackbeard is and always has been a suit of armor for him.

And this is supported by him saying "I am the Kraken." The emotion we're coaxed to associate the Kraken with is fear. Ed introduces us to the concept of the Kraken by telling a story about the scariest thing he's ever seen. Then the first time we see Ed truly afraid and he has a PTSD flashback to killing his father, it's followed up by him crawling into a bathtub and confessing that he's the Kraken. When the Kraken originated we see Ed's face morph from a face of terror to a face of determination, he kills his dad, and then Ed's own capacity for violence becomes his worst fear, and the reason he doesn't kill people directly.

Anyway. He's not mad (in either sense of the word), he's terrified.

We need more Slaughterhouse Hybrids.

Cape hybrids were probably the most interesting part of the 9000 slaughterhouse. But there were so few of them. We weren't even shown everyone in the battle, and these aren't even the most interesting possible combinations. If the spawner interestingly combines the abilities of the originals, then for example the Tyrant simply has several separate weakened abilities of the originals.

But I would like to see more interesting combinations and ideas. For example

Depression and PyroMania. (Cherish/Winter) and (Cherish/Burnscar) Depression suppresses people's emotions by paralyzing their will. More specialized but more effective than the original. Pyromania uses fire as a vector for emotional power. Being close to her fire causes in people the same change of emotions that the original burn scar had. Causing them to spread the fire.

Dead Moroz (Hatchet Face/Winter) [Дед мороз This Russian Santa Claus can be translated as Grandfather Cold] Stops fire and bullets. Disables superpowers. Hard to kill.

Fire axe(Hatchet Face/Burnscar) Fire as a trump power vector can burn power.

Firebird(Shatterbird/Burnscar) Controls molten glass. Flies in a bubble of hot air.

Dimensional Scar (Damsel of Distress/Burnscar) Teleports a short distance. Usually in series of several teleportations. Each teleportation creates an explosion of distorted space and a release of enormous amounts of heat. Absolutely crazy and hyper active even by Slaughterhouse standards.

Damsel of Slash (Damsel of Distress/Jack Slash) Uses blades or its own claws to send Dimensional Slashes over a short distance. Objectively the most arrogant and narcissistic cape in all of history.

Golden section(Harbinger/Jack Slash) Who gave him the knife?

Propaganda (Jack Slash/Cherish) “We are always happy to welcome new members to the Slaughterhouse.”

Jack Hook (Jack Slash/HookWolf) Jack himself actively creates bladed weapons. A lot of. And he constantly attacks with it in all directions.

Tank(Crawler/Hook Wolf) A bit of heavy armor. Eats metal to regenerate. Can grow kontakt 1.

CrawlJob(Crawler/Hatchet Face) A Brute that not only constantly regenerates and adapts, but also suppresses the forces of capes at close range, is difficult to kill with both conventional weapons and capes. Even better adapts to withstand power than the original

Chrysalis (Crawler/Mannequin) "We still couldn't kill it."

BDSM(Crawler/Cherish) "Attack me!"

Peacock (Screamer/Shatterbird) Uses sound not only to control sand but also to attack people with noise.

Whimper(Cherish/Screamer) Bene Gesserit Hearing Emotions. Explores emotional responses to different voices. Uses voices and emotional control to push action "Kill them. Kill them"

Good king(Nice Guy/King) “How was I supposed to know that it was better not to touch this guy?”

Evil Twin(Nice Guy/Psychosoma) can turn people and himself into evil twins.

Mimic Queen(Nyx/Breed) Spawns beetles that disguise themselves as things. For example, under a cup or chair.

Guillotine/Red Princess. (BoneSaw/King) Shoots darts with her blood at everyone. She performs surgeries on herself and victims using telesurgery.

Tickling (BoneSaw/Chuckles) “I only had time to feel the tickling, but she had already run away with my legs.”

King's Jester (King/Chuckles) - Runs quickly between crowds of people and opponents to touch as many people as possible. And he's damn hard to stop because he's still a bit of a brute and you want to hurt him. After touching enough people, he simply jumps into the wood chipper. Oh ho ho this is very funny.

Grey Cardinal (Gray Boy/King) "Stop it, you're only making things worse for them" A touch puts a person in a loop. All his wounds are transferred to the people in the loops. Limited by radius to loops.

Tundra(Siberian/Winter) Moves slowly but her victims still cannot escape.

Raskolnikov (Siberian/Hatchet Face) Ironically, the aura of nullification affects even him and he has to keep the projection away.

Gulag (Gray Boy/Siberian) Siberian is now twice as monochrome. Those killed by Siberia are stuck in a loop. If you kill the master, he will be resurrected. Good luck

Yes, I know that Riley would not make clones and hybrids of herself, Jack and the gray boy. But this is a theoretical situation.

I want to hear your ideas.But remember the power of hybrids is weaker than that of pure capes. In radius, power, duration, etc., the Tyrant's nullification aura is weaker than that of the Hatchet Face aura. Spawner regenerates worse than Crawler etc.

I am working in a haunted house attraction right now, and I perform in the 'scary bog room' as a blind swamp hag cannibal character. If you've read Treasure Island, I'm basically 'Blind Pew', except more monstrous.

This role is great cos much as I like horror I am kind of sensitive and I appreciate the room having mostly just watery gurgles, low creaks and groaning animals sound loops, which is my kind of normal background of choice soundtrack anyway, just turned up to 11. I dunno how I'd handle standing next to a puppet or a speaker that played 5 easily memorable lines of dialogue OVER and OVER again very loudly, surrounded by gore and unpleasant imagery, that must be very tiring for some. Having worked retail I know how aggravating just listening to the same 30-40 songs every store in America plays on repeat is teeth grinding, so having to hear the same shit on repeat every 2 MINUTES must be torture.

Reason I mention this is cos I have yet to really visit any of the many other room stages asides mine, as its a large labyrinthine place, and I've yet no reason to visit other parts of the attraction cos before showtime, the lights are off. But during operation hours, I get to *hear* everything going on in them from beyond. And one of the recorded loops I hear every now and then as I do my job, is this loud demonic voice shriek, that for the longest time I thought was just garbled nonsense word noise. But it was today after just hearing it replay in my mind once again for the millionth time, because I heard it by now THAT often, I realized it was saying:

"IT'S!!! A! BOYYYYYYYYY!!!!!!"

And for the life of me now I wanna know what the heck IS this thing.

Cos I don't know of any evil delivery nurses in our roster, and I feel about 70% certain we lack an evil hospital section (though it's certainly possible.)as I have yet to see any props or cast member wardrobes that seem themed to that sort of idea. So what da heck ARE YOU, mystery screamer prop???

My Ramblings: The first zap-back episode, as I call them.

What kind of party was going on down there? Phyllis? Anyways, Penn freaks out because, you know, Superhero World! I didn't need to see that much muscles...

That regular-sized Giant Old Lady has a name, it's Suzanne. Finally Boone gets to use that mind--reading of his! Revealing that Suzanne wants to destroy them and every other superhero, but why? See all of our favorites, the Super Janitor, Speedster, Spatula Man, the Hotdog Seller and Super Dog! It's funny when the Trio are like: "why do they want to kill us?" Anyone remember how the last episode they were there ended?

Captain Super Captain delivering a devastating blow to Suzanne that causes a WILHELM SCREAMER! Penn, don't be rude to him! He's hasn't doen anything to you and literally just saved your life!

Again, they assume it's Rippen hypnotizing the heroes. "Just follow the scent of failure." Gosh, that's gotta hurt if Rippen was listening.

Still calling your evil twin brother drop-dead gorgeous is weird, I get it's because you look alike but still. No wonder Penn thought you were talking about yourself for a second, who says that about their brother? How he's animated when he says "brother" is satisfying.

Dammit not you to Professor Evil Professor! Who says these things about their siblings!? We get it, your both pretty! Very much so.

Remember that team-up I brought up earlier in "Number One Number Two"? Well, here it is! Rippen is totally on board and PEP points out his failure from last time, but Rippen isn't insulted, he agrees. I think he really admires the Professor, like a mentor.

I wonder if Rippen could get a PHD in Villainly like PEP where he's from, I don't see why not. I'd be funny if he failed to get one. The Professor also has a "most likely to take over the world" and "taking candy from a baby" on his wall, along with cool trophies.

Larry really sensitive armpits... do with that what you will. PEP tells him there's a cream for that, nice of him.

Rippen really needs this kind of friendship or alliance, he has some to laugh like a manic with, it's sweet. He is so ready to make his new mentor/villain buddy proud! He delivers the best "PROFESSOR EEEEVILLL PROFESSORR!" Do I kind of ship them? Sometimes.

"And if we do screw up, that's why tomorrows were invented." Wise words from Larry. Also he has a jetpack- no, jet feet? No, rocket nub? I don't know the word for it but he has it.

"The Professor's hideout" That's a whole ass building with his logo on it! That's not a hide out!

Upgrades people, upgrades! Rippen's got them. Missle launchers, rocket feet and OCTO-ARMS! That has to be a reference to Doc Ock, who Alfred Molina (Rippen's VA, in case you forgot) has played in Sam Raimi's Spider-Man 2 (and No Way Home).

What a tragic weakness to have, adult contemporary music. How does CSC live with this devastating debility? We may never understand his struggles.

Rippen and Larry's expressions when Penn casually twists up the octo-arms and just leaves. Faces of "Oh shit."

"Is this a bridge too far?" Destorys a bridge, almost killing hundreds of ducks, kittens, babies, and pigeons, I'm sure. Tehe-ing to himself.

Instead of helping, CSC teaches Penn the importance of an agonizing "noooooo!" The valuable stuff.

I need context for this, please:

Rippen: Larry, you promised you weren't going to put bunny ears on my things anymore.

Larry: Who said it was me?

He almost sounds devastated, as if Larry fell back on an addiction or something. Also, hear me out... bunny ear lingerie?

Oh no, the music. I'm getting flashbacks to the Meat Circus.

EPIC SUPER-POWERED TWIN FIGHT!

PEP's reasoning for using his advanced degree in evil is reasonable, money.

The overcomplicated funhouse of doom is extremely fucked up, like, Rippen did you come up with this? Have you just been itching for the day you can use this concept from your sketch book or something? Are you overcompensating to impress your new ally/friend? Or did he make this? Or did you both make it!?

Wow, Boone. Sashi is being so self-sacrificing for you and you just agree with her? Damn, that's cold.

But here's where the real pain is, the third option: Penn can kill Rippen (and Larry), thanks to PEP. An utter betrayal to Rippen's alliance with the guy, it's such a good twist! He's a cunning business man, kill Rippen and he will set his friends free, with a little encouragement from his hypnotizing medallion. As much as Penn despises his art teacher, that's not the hero way! I'm so happy that not one (good) person objects to this decision. No one questions Penn.

And then the audacity of the Professor to just ask Rippen to kill Boone and Sashi right after that!? Honestly? Slay. But, we know Rippen, he screws it up. So many damn buttons, can't fault him.

Clarence? What a name for PEP. Also, him and CSC are Jewish. That's pretty neat!

Hmm, weird, the "destory heroes" button was pretty big and obvious, even had a label. There's no way he could have missed that... right? No, Rippen wants Penn utterly destroyed!

~The Characters~

Penn Zero: Bet he'll question the button thing for a while, and the possibility that he could've killed Rippen (and Larry)... yeah. Kudos to him for doing the right thing! Yes, it would be easy to get rid of him, but technically, it's not gonna solve anything. It won't bring back his parents, and Rippen will just be replaced. Everyone, clap for our boy.

Boone Wiseman: Still wish we got that mind-reading gag idea I had! Anyways not much to say since he's a SIS, a Super in Stress!

Sashi Kobayashi: Again, a SIS like Boone.

Rippen: It was beautiful watching Rippen be so gleeful and empowered by new evil buddy until the backstabbing. I could feel his heart grow ever more coal-like, he was starting to trust more and look what happened. But, hey, at least his nemesis didn't straight up kill him! That's a plus. Now for the button thing, we all know he did that on purpose, of course he would! Clarence really thought that he was gonna be a good lap dog and listen to him? No! This could've been an interesting route to take if they wanted to reform Rippen. If! I wonder if he thinks about this decision a lot.

Also a random headcanon of mine: When PEP got mad about the wrong button, Rippen got defensive and talked a bit fast. So I like to think that when he gets defensive and talks faster, he's lying. A tell.

Larry: Didn't help like last time. But parted some wise words.

My Ramblings: Penn comes off like any other American president to be honest, vague and wanting blind voters. He even did the Nixon "V" signs! And he also voted for himself, Alex, the other presidential candidate, voted for him too. Not Boone or Sashi, which, yeah. Totally understandable, really.

Ok so the fuckin

Design of this zombie my brain came up with, is like. Base body of a Screamer from State of Decay. No arms, no mouth, chest torn open or whatever.

But here's where it diverges from the Screamer, its ribcage is what tore open from the body itself, the largest bone from the ribcage made itself into a sort of 'lower jaw' or mandibles like an insect and the rest of the bones on the ribcage acted as its teeth.

It is slow, of course, slow turn radius the like. But that doesn't stop the fact that when it bites it's gonna tear through shit because these bones aren't weak shit they're actually really strong and thick as fuck.

I also told this info to my dad and he said it sounds like a Resident Evil thing.

I haven't played Resident Evil in my life and the last time I watched one of the movies was years ago.

Have you played OLT yourself, or have you only seen Let's Plays? // I've played excessively. I bought it the day it was released.

Is/are your reagent(s) a self-insert of yourself, or are they OCs? // He was a self-insert and kind of still is, but I have given him his own name.

What is/are your reagent(s) names? // Alex / Alexander. He looks like an Alex. I make the same one every time.

What's a brief backstory of your reagent(s)? // I don't have one yet besides he's somewhere between 25-35 and was kidnapped off the streets by Murkoff.

What is your favourite trial/program? // It started off as Kill The Snitch, and I do still love it, but after playing so much and the devs making things too easy... I kiiinda like Program 3/Orphanage more now 'cause there's more to do and it's a bit harder to evade enemies.

What is your favourite challenge overall, or favourite one from each Program? // I really like Feed The Children / the one where you go collect 5 bottles of bleach for yummy bleach-and-body-parts soup, and both of the Kill The Snitch challenges.

How many reagents have you released? // 4, I think. On the way to releasing a fifth later tonight.

Who is your favourite lesser ex-pop? // I like the girl that walks around mostly because her VA did such an incredible job.

Never played with anybody else. :/ I never planned on playing w/ anyone else bc I really don't think I'd enjoy it, I think horror games should stay solo, but I've had a few people ask. I don't think I'll play though, one unfollowed me lmao and the others have people to play with, so.

Regardless of the trial and their objective, which map and/or map section is your favourite? // I love how Fun Park looks, it makes me a bit nostalgic for a fair/carnival I used to go to annually growing up.

Do the sound jumpscares ever get you? // Yes. I'm super desensitized to horror and don't usually react to anything, but the fucking noise jumpscares in Trials are SO loud and so unexpected, they make me jump almost every time.

Do you like the music (ambient music, chase music, end-trial music)? // Yes. I love the menu music, and the music that plays at the very end of the Program 2 trials/challenges.

Do you like the release protocol? If not, what would you change about it? // I like it. I like that we get to put all that we've learned in the 3 programs to use (the reel, the tuners, the keys, etc). Idk, I think it's fine as is. It's overwhelming the first time you go in, but after that, it's smooth sailing.

What kind of new trial or new enemy would you like to see? // I would like to see an evil corrupt priest prime asset, maybe pay an homage to the Father from OL1 or the whole cult nonsense from OL2. Bigger maps would be cool.

What would you like to see changed or implemented into the game in the future? Get creative! // Definitely stop making it easier and easier. More passive voicelines from everyone, especially Coyle, and fix them so they stop overlapping/interrupting each other. I want to see more cosmetics and room decor options. I also want to see simple emotes (sit down, lay down, maybe a silly little dance) and more comms wheel options. Text chat that's only set to groups would be nice as well, but it would need to be heavily monitored and regulated to limit toxicity. Not everyone has- nor wants to use a mic.

How many hours do you have in the game? 100hrs.

Have you played the other Outlast games (DLCs included), or is this your first time~? Do you like other horror games? // Yes, I've played and re-played all OL games and dlcs many times. I replayed everything months ago after playing the OLT beta.

Are you easily frightened by the game, or do you consider it a joyride? (AKA, are you as desensitized as OP)? // Joyride. I've been looking for something to make me feel something or make me genuinely uncomfortable, but nothing has, not since Amnesia The Dark Descent first came out in 2010 (minus the brief, mild discomfort OL2 gave me). I feel OLT is their most watered down game yet, and it's really disappointing to see them censoring and limiting themselves... because Outlast is the no.1 series I have praised for years for being the ONLY horror series/developer that has the balls to put out really extreme, uncensored content. And now they've made it kinda boring and less extreme. :/ I am completely desensitized to horror and don't experience fear.

Any funny moments you'd like to share? // I have some funny videos I never posted of shoving Coyle back out of the way with a door, and of him spinning in place lol.

Any bullshit kills you'd like to share (glitches included)? // I think it was the second or third hardest difficulty of Fun Park in Program 2. Two different instances. First time, I was in a pitch black room and wasn't moving, but Gooseberry--who had no idea I was there and was just patrolling--suddenly bolts straight for me out of nowhere?? And another time, I was hiding in a bin, and she did not see me go in, I wasn't peeking, but all of a sudden she bolts straight for me again, pulls me out, and kills me in one-shot when I had 5 full bars of health.

Any funny glitches you've encountered? // I guess the aforementioned stuff might be glitches.

Would you recommend the game to others in its current state (early access)? // Yes. For early access, there's a decent amount of content with high replayability.

Have you played Project Omega? // No. I don't plan on it. Don't have a group of trustworthy people to play with and I hear it's near impossible.

If you've ever played DBD, would you like to see one of the prime assets as a killer in DBD (in theory)? // Gooseberry would be really cool to see as a DBD killer.

Do you think the prime assets need to be more present in the trials/challenges or no? Why? // Answered this the other day. Yes, I think they need to be more aggressive and present and have their AI improved.

On a scale from 1-10, 1 being 'so easy a baby could do it' and 10 being 'surpassed Dark Souls' level of Difficult', where would you rank the game in difficulty, scare factor, and fun factor from when you first started playing compared to now? // Excluding my beta experience... First time: 6-7 | 5 | 8. Now: 3 | 1 | 5.

What's your opinion on adding voice recognition so the killers can hear you speak via mic (like Phasmophobia)? // I would love to see it. I'd have a blast talking shit or flirting with the antags. I did that all the time when I still played Phasmo. Would be really cool if they respond to certain things you say as well.

What is the shortest and longest amount of time you've spent in a trial/challenge? // Longest, a little over two hours... Shortest, 6 minutes.

If given the option, would you like to become a prime asset yourself post-release-protocol and given the option to hunt other players or AI? // YES OMG. I would LOVE to hunt down some poor fucker who's just starting out. A lot more fun than playing killer in DBD, I'd bet.

For Audrey Drew:

• Being touched without warning or consent, particularly having her hands or arms grabbed since that's what Wilson went for both times he tried to kill her

• Her own ink-stained hands seem to be something of a trigger, as she spends alot of time looking at and touching them. Particularly her left hand, the one totally blackened and now capable of banish zapping enemies.

• Swimming pools, fluid sounds, being surrounded by liquid. She has a fear of drowning or being drowned.

• Possibly spiders

• She still deals with existential problems and the idea of being weird, scary, freaky for being non-human.

• People-eating, vore, cannibalism, and the like.

• Mirrors/Her own reflection, especially when in the Cycle.

For Ericka Van Helsing:

• Being ordered around or FEELING like she's being ordered around. She's by no means a control freak like Drac, but she spent most of her life being bossed around by Van Helsing and her family's expectations. So she chafes at being told what to do or what NOT to do.

• Feeling helpless, unable to do something. Held back by things beyond her control. She hates feeling weak and cowardly, or feeling trapped or FORCED into something. Being manipulated.

• Being written off as evil, a murderer, feeling like no matter what she does or how she tries to do better people will see her as nothing more than an evil, homicidal and genocidal maniac

• Being told she doesn't deserve love or her new family, especially because of how she hurt them in the past.

•Loud noises, unexpected jumpscares, screamers, things popping up out of nowhere, being startled, things getting up in her face alot.

• Dislikes hard and fast rules and being made to live up to high expectations or seeing OTHERS forced to live up to expectations. She's protective of Dennis due to this.

• Dehumanizing others out of hate or to justify killing them, facism, Making hateful assumptions. She's determined not to let her family's or her own mistakes be repeated.

For Alice Angel:

• Much like Ericka, being bossed or ordered around, controlled, manipulated, especially being made to hurt the people she loves against her will.

• Feeling like she has to be perfect, being judged.

• Being called ugly, people being scared of her, being seen as a dangerous monster

• Do NOT call her an ink blob, slug, or anything similar if you want to live.

• Feeling rejected or abandoned, being ignored.

• VERY touchstarved, but sometimes worries she might hurt people if she gets close. Sometimes goes and hides when upset, often somewhere in Heavenly Toys: the plushies and dolls are comforts for her.

• Things being stolen from her.

• Butcher Gang members, Searchers

• Being claimed by or stuck in the ink

• Feeling trapped alone in the dark.

• I once had her triggered by Spink and Forcible's stuffed Angel dog displays because they reminded her of the dead Borises.

Whump Prompts: Possible Trauma Triggers

I can confidently say this is heavily inspired by my own trauma dksjdksj anyway enjoy.

Content: PTSD/trauma.

Smells/sounds/sights that remind them of that environment, the person who hurt them, etc. Maybe Caretaker wears Whumper's cologne, for example, or their voice somehow resembles Whumper's when in certain situations.

Alcohol. This can be a huge trigger for whumpees who's whumpers were alcoholics or just generally speaking worse/only violent when under the influence. They might hide when Caretaker drinks or do things to make sure they stay on Caretaker's good side until they're sober.

If they were the bloodbag of a vampire, the sight of their own blood could become a trigger. They might be scared that their whumper might smell it or they might just not wanna have their blood taken from them again.

Loud sounds. Alarms, shouting, banging on walls/doors.

Gifts. Whumpee might believe that they now owe the gifter, or they might hate opening wrapped presents because they have no idea what's inside. This could lead to tears, reassuring the gifter that they don't need to do all this to make Whumpee do what they want, they can be good, this isn't necessary.

Physical touch. Touching them without warning, hugs feeling like traps, not being able to escape until the other person says so. So they go stiff or immediately try to escape, hellbent on not falling for it again. They might even hurt Caretaker in the process.

Large crowds.

If they went through torture, things like water (waterboarding, drowning, etc.), sharp objects (cutting, surgeries, etc.) and the such could also be triggers for them.

The dark. Maybe they were kidnapped after dark or their whumper is nocturnal, but this makes for some good angst.

Stuff being close to their neck. They might have problems with collars, chokers, etc. because they were made to wear one during their captivity.

Also, assuming you’re the same anon (hi again!) I have seen the synopses now (and a bit more), so I’ll give what scattered thoughts my mashed potato brain can give:

It sounds like there’s at least somewhat more of a cohesive plot arc in this first bundle. Stuff only really happening in the first and last episodes was a real issue in the first season so nice to see they may be addressing that. Even if it’s just a mcguffin hunt.

Speaking of plot! Oh thank heck Starscream and Shockwave are still villains. Their apparent changes of heart in season one just really, really sucked.

In particular could be fun to see Screamer take on main (or, given other info, at least starter) villain, but we’ll see. I’ve had a feeling from the start depending on how they handle him in season 2 he’ll either be a version of the character I really like or one I despise (in the bad way, not the fun way).

(Though I highly doubt he’ll steal my heart half as well as Skybound’s <3 I’m sorry I love that one)

And the reason he may only be a starter villain, Quintessons? 👀 …I mean yeah I 100% expected them but still! Nice to have it confirmed!

*sigh* Unfortunately the animation still has that plasticky feel to it and the humans still look off as all hell.

I wonder if the kids will feel more like actual characters and less annoying. …I mean given the series history probably not, but I can hope? There have been some good ones and I am after all just a curmudgeon.

Overall… cautious optimism I think. Depending on how things pan out could be a real improvement on season one. Here’s hoping! (Whatever I end up thinking I do hope you enjoy it anon!)

Not related to the synopses but WEIRD AL AS COSMOS?! Hell yeah! Even if it’s not the perfect gag that casting him as Wreck-Gar was I’m always happy for more Weird Al, and I love that we’re seeing Cosmos again.
