I've been sick with a cold and wanted to share the tea brew that repeatedly saves my ass. My grandma originally had her own variation of it, which was then later improved by inspiration from Eir.
For 1 cup (adjust as needed):
1 teaspoon of dried rosemary
1 teaspoon of dried thyme
1/2 teaspoon of cinnamon
1/2 teaspoon of dried mint
About a 1inch chunk of ginger, sliced
Black or green tea bag, up to preference
BOATLOADS OF FRESH HONEY
Optional: sprinkle of cayenne pepper
Optional: half shot of whiskey
1. Add EVERYTHING but the cayenne pepper, honey, and optional whiskey to a tea strainer and pour BOILING water over that concoction.
2. Let it sit for 5-10 minutes, depending on how strong you want, but while it's steeping PUT YOUR NOSE OVER THAT CUP. PUT A TOWEL OVER YOUR HEAD AND BASK IN THAT STEAM
3. Afterwards, remove your steeping basket and dump in as much honey as your heart desires. I don't care, add the whole container.
4. Add in your optional cayenne pepper and whiskey. STIR IT VERY WELL. Seriously.
5. Enjoy! Or don't! It tastes like ass!
You can also use fresh herbs, but up the amounts to ~ a tablespoons vs teaspoon. You can steep it again but it does lose its punch, especially if you do 10 minute steeps.
(And with all herbs make sure there's no contraindications with any other meds you're taking)
