"You can't organize your way out of a mess"
I read that somewhere, and... yeah, it's true. But! There's a lot of stuff I want to keep, and organizing that stuff has made space. My inherited piano is now free of dolls, much to the cats' chagrin. Their favorite way of getting me off the couch was to jump on the piano and knock dolls over, which is the other reason everyone got moved into the office.
Vacay coming up. Whether he wants to or not, Spouse is getting dragged into helping me clean and swap rooms. I am ready for Craftorama room. I am so ready. I have many amazing projects to work on, and I can't work on them with cats. Try to knit - cats attack yarn. Try to sew - cats attack fabric. Try to paint dolls - cats attack brushes and knock over Pan Pastels. My cats, they are needy.
Actually, another reason why I'm excited to have Craftorama room is that one cat loves to play, but her rambunctious brothers always push her out of the way. With a big center space in Craftorama room, she and I can play in peace with the door shut and the brothers OUT.
I got tea lights and spent another afternoon lighting fabric on fire. It does seal the fabric quite nicely. Then I got an email from Fabric Mart - fabric on sale! $1 a yard! It's all polyester. Yeah, I bet it's on sale. Death to polyester.
Rainbow High dolls are getting clearanced out again, and I am not interested. I am Rainbow High'd out. There are two dolls I want when they go on sale, and that's it.
Decided against the Signature Barbie. I don't want to spend the money on a $100 doll, only to have to buy another Tooth Fairy Barbie to rebody her onto a pivotal body (same size as model muse, but with more articulation). I'm getting Barbie'd out too. Still waiting for the promised Harley Quinn and Poison Ivy dolls, but that's about it.
I did spring for a new Obitsu doll, even though I swore no more vinyl. I knew Obitsu was planning on updating the 50 cm body, and I wanted one. They released the GGR AKIHO body for a limited run, and I snagged Mysterious.
It looks like resin. I am super impressed:
Now I'm just waiting for the updated 27 cm body. Fingers crossed they do a 30 cm body like they did for the male body, cuz that would be awesome. Step aside, Made to Move. There's a new sheriff in town.
Finally finished shaving down the neck on the Doll Chateau Y-body-06, and now the DC Debbie head looks too small. Maybe the Dollmore head will work better? I'll have to swap and see. Can't remember the sculpt name; only that she looks perpetually disgusted with life, and I haven't yet found a body I like her on.

It helps to cross reference this list with the skin tone names listed on the Model Muse Wiki.
archive.org link
archive.org link
So if you have a Model Muse you want to rebody, find her skintone name and then search it on IHime's list. If you have a non-Model Muse doll, search them on IHime's list first. If the doll isn't listed on either site, find out her skintone name and then pick an MTM that matches.

it's been awhile since my last original post, the whole Gil Webber fight wore me out so I took a few weeks off, That doesn't mean I'm done with the fight BTW, I'm still holding strong for my boy, Please read my media analysis if you're curious WTF I'm talking about.
I'm back to lightly customizing my dolls! our girl My Froggy Stuff posted a video a few weeks back bringing these dolls to my attention, they are Five Below dolls called "Zoe Summer" and she comes in 2 skin tones a very pale one and a medium brown one and they have great articulation for such small dolls! perfect to rebody Chelsea for better posing! the clothing and shoes fit Chelsea sized dolls, skirts might be a little short but that doesn't bother me.
What DOES bother me is the limited skin tones these Zoe dolls come in, I would have liked to have seen one more darker skinned doll. But I can work with what we have! kinda, The pale Zoe doll is a match for pretty much every light skinned non-tanned Chelsea, the Zoe body has a very slight pinkish undertone but it still works as you can see in my photos! the strawberry blonde, teal & black haired Chelseas are a match! the brown skin tone Zoe is much harder to match however, something I am struggling with and very annoyed by. Most of the black Chelseas are too dark for the Zoe body and most of the ambiguously brown Chelseas are too light. As you can see from my photos, the brown haired Chelsea is too light for the Zoe Body but the mint haired Chelsea is a perfect match! I've been searching for Chelseas with that skin tone for 2 weeks with mixed success, I ordered a few stray Chelseas on eBay so once they arrive I'll update this post.
As for what I'm doing with the Zoe heads on Chelsea bodies, they will be donated. it takes some Elbow grease to get the giant Chelsea neck peg through the small hole on the Zoe head, but scissors help.
I've also been trying to find boy Chelseas that are skin tone matches to no success. The Zoe bodies are non-descript so they will also work for boys! but pale Chelsea boys don't seem to exist, the ones I have found that come close have a tan or this weird yellow undertone that will not match. Brown Chelsea boys in the Zoe skin tone range don't seem to exist at all. In My Froggy Stuff's video she does rebody a boy Chelsea on to the brown Zoe body BUT it's a mismatch AND the boy she used is no longer in production so finding him is insanely expensive of you can find him at all.
All in all, I like these Zoe bodies! little kids deserve articulation too! but I wish they came in more skin tones. But for $5? I can't complain too much. I ordered 9 more from the Five Below Website and I will continue to post my skin tone match findings! If YOU know what Chelseas would be matches for the Zoe dolls I would LOVE to have your input! I'll update the post for every successful match we find!

Today I fixed up a steamer/vacuum which will probably go to the second hand store, attempted to clean and revive an old Siemens pre-smart phone.
Got a Fidgie Friends head and took measurements of the eyes and replaced them with something less glarey. (ultimately I think it's simpler repaint the ones they come with to have bigger irises and might make a tutorial for that) - pics tomorrow.
I impulse bought a Beauty Cuties arriving next week- i know i know. Head the size of a football, neck peg 1/6th size so rebodying on a large doll is not only an engineering puzzle but finding a skin tone match from the mostly white disney animator dolls is going to be rough.
But i'm not feeling guilty about still engaging in the doll hobby and bringing in new stuff that's hard to flip though because it's keeping me sane until I can find something else. Turns out something that doesn't engage the shoulders and isn't strenuous is not easy to find. Keeping me busy and using knowledge has it's own value, I'll worry about the clutter later.
I left a repaired VIP pets at the phone box library a kilometer down the road this weekend and she was gone and not trashed the next day. 😁 A trial balloon for rehoming dolls when the local 'toys for tots' type charity takes new in box only.
I'm also planning to visit the upcycling and second hand shop this month and maybe I can offer my services wiping or repairing devices (can't do the fiddly work of screen replacement or anything with my hands but I'm quite happy to do the tedious work of scanning, formatting and installing). Idk.
Lily the dog is feeling better, her arthritis flare up is calming a little though she's still a little stiff in the back legs. She's back to mischief which is a great sign, she had me so worried when the pain was making her lethargic. I've looked at various harnesses in case she needs long term assistance getting up and being carried down stairs.
Turned off anon again. Don't want to end up between proshippers and antis when my argument is for critical creation and 'consumption' (I hate that word but reading, listening watching is a mouthful) not purity culture. I believe horrible things have their place in fiction because life has horrid parts but they have to be well handled not just there as a narrative device or shock value.
I can see a whole spectrum ranging from people protecting healthy representation of real life horrors from blanket censorship to folks who just feel entitled to write whatever they want without thought of its impact because right now they find that as exciting and for some it's exciting in the same way as saying the n word.
How about we have some introspection about how open honest discussion in the bedroom seems so improbable and cringey to many people that they'd rather imagine a mind reading lover who doesn't ask... and if writing fiction to normalise having so called 'awkward' talks that 'interrupt the passion' might work as well as all the folks who've successfully turned the condom from annoying formality into sexy foreplay.
Whether we're examining the widespread misconceptions about torture that spread via fiction and have become part and parcel of the carceral and military systems or having complex conversations about whether to put sexual assault or suicide in a story and how to handle it with the utmost care...
My life has been changed for the better by stories that handled dark subject matter respectfully with the weight it deserves. So my argument isn't pro or anti. It's let's do something constructive: the way we ask people to unlearn racism and learn anti racist thought: how about the guidelines on death by suicide in mass media, how about we ask people to apply that to their fiction and get to tag their work as tw: suicide but with a second tag that it's been checked for that guideline compliance.
I want to open the scope from whether or not AO3 should exist into how we can help eachother engage in more thought-through creations and more importantly real long term support networks for all sorts of survivors with all sorts of messy ugly thoughts.
But any time I write a post it's a whole ordeal to dare press send. I really hope folks know that it's always a 'yes and' or 'I wish this were true but it's debunked/mislabelled'
Just realised I didn't get anything on my to do list for today done. Eeesh. Well, that's tomorrow's problem. 😅

Why do I do this to myself?
I don't count good and I have memory issues, so I keep finding myself in the middle of knitting or crocheting and losing my place. But still, I carry on.
I also don't do colours good, I often ask my flatmate to help check yarn matches.
Now I'm picking back up with rebodying Barbies which means matching shades across different dolls. I'm watching a video comparing options and she's going "Now I was hoping this would be a match but she's actually got more cooler undertones..." and I'm nodding along like I'm watching the Olympics knowing what the downhill skiiers are doing. "No, yep, definitely, I totally see what you mean."
(I can ID *some* of the different ones, though generally couldn't tell you why, just "those are not the same thing".)

My advice is that you don't owe any brand any loyalty. You don't have to collect them all, especially not brand new. You don't have to be limited by what's currently in stores or trending online: the surprise of thrifting, or hunting second hand and customising can really add to the fun.
I do recommend setting a budget and spacing out purchases so you have some money aside when you find a 'must have' and have things to look forward to. Remember to budget in a display so you can enjoy looking at your collection.
It really helps to hold a doll in hand, examine it from all angles and see if that special something clicks. Collectors of high end dolls call that 'bonding' - it's that inexplicable piece of design that makes a doll the right fit for you to project ideas, character, even facets of yourself on to. A spark that makes that particular one appeal to your aesthetic and moods. It might be an ugly dollar store doll from the eighties rebodied and given a wig, it might be a 200$ doll, it doesn't matter, if that face cracks you up or speaks to you then it belongs.
Now, what's odd is that feeling can happen for a full collection/brand of dolls or it might only strike twice for that brand and spark again somewhere else entirely different. You might love anime styles in asian dolls and hate the big eyes in western dolls. What sparks joy doesn't always make sense.
So you'll see collections that are all rainbow high or collections that are all over the map in terms of brands but all use goth or neon themes. Others still don't seem to have any cohesive theme and span all sorts of eras but if you look closely the owners personal tastes start to emerge. It's really easy to get caught up in trends and lose sight of personal taste when on social media that prioritises the new releases or having a full set. If you find that energising, great. If not, try to get a sense of when you're starting to feel pushed or like your purchases are making you feel uncomfortable.
It's not basic to enjoy the dolls as they are, displayed on the shelf, either. You don't have to restyle them, play with them, do photo challenges for them to have 'earned' their value: that can be fun but it's not for everyone. They're little pieces of art and people interact with them differently. For some it's a reconnection with childhood and imagination play but for many it's just enjoying colourful and cleverly designed sculptures. I just think they're neat is a valid explanation 💞!
What advice would you give to someone getting into doll collecting?

Anyone Know if there's any Doll that has a Matching Skin to to the (old,) Disney Store Frozen 1 Anna doll? The thing I always feared would eventually happened... Sorta. Long story short, at some point the bottom of her body started splitting open, and out of fear of it splitting or breaking open and her being legless I never sat her fullt upright for very long. About 15 min ago I was posing her around and moved her leg up a bit and I heard her leg come out of the socket and I panicked, quickly undressed her and... That's it. It just popped out. Nothing broke or chipped or cracked. It just popped out, and I can just pop it back in and it fits just fine, I just can't bend her leg up that much without it popping out. Been wanting to eventually get her a new body, this is exact reason why I got the purple top barbie made to move doll. But the skin tone of that body didn't quite match on top of the head not looking quite right on the body due to the somewhat longer neck. But now with this leg thing, I think it's time to finally get her a new body. This is my first Anna, she's the 2015 DS Anna and I got her all the way back in April of 2016, right before Civil War came out. She's my favorite, and is probably one of my most prized possessions. She means a whole lot to me. Any help would be greatly appreciated

I wanted to make a separate post since the other one is long.
I want to rebody this gal.
Does anyone have a My Scene Madison that they can compare with their other dolls that’s articulated? I’m looking at Made to Move line, I’m not sure if either Bruenette or the amazon exclusive one will be a close match?
It doesn’t even have to be Made to Move, just something that’s decently priced and close to Barbie scale.
ETA: I know Wild Hearts Crew might be a match, but they’re not really out near me yet. Would a WWE be a good match too?
Thank you in advance! ❤️

May I present to you, Monster High’s Dracula, G1 style.
I rebodied the doll onto a Mattel BTS body (uses the same sculpt as the G2 MH boys), gave his face paint some modifications, repainted the lips, added a few lines, and gave him a more angry expression as Ula’s diary always described him as constantly scowling.
I made all the clothes myself, and the shoes are from the BTS doll I used for his body. All the pieces are separates. I did like his glasses, so I decided to keep that aspect from G2. I wanted to make him look mostly like the traditional sort of vampire he’s described as, while also adding in some of the themes from Draculaura’s looks. Who knows, maybe she helped him pick this outfit. c;
I hope you all enjoy how he turned out as much as I do.

Barbie Extras Wave 2 + MTM Skin Tone Matches
If you have any Barbie Extra Dolls from Wave 2 and you want to rebody them, here is a quick guide to which MTM Doll matches each Barbie Extra.
The 2021 Barbie MTM Doll with blonde hair or any the old models are a good skin tone match for Barbie Extra #6, Barbie Extra #9, and the Barbie Extra Mix & Match Doll. But if you want the doll to have a curvy body, the 2021 Barbie MTM Doll with red hair and orange dye pants would be your best match.
The new Barbie Signature Looks Doll Model #2 is perfect match for the Barbie Extra #7 Doll for skin tone and body shape. But if you want the doll to have the "standard" body you can check out the Barbie MTM with the blue dye pants. Or you can get the older model with the yellow and pink top.
The Barbie Extra #10 shares the same skin tone as Barbie Extra #7 so all of the models I've previously mentioned work for her too!
The Barbie Extra #8 and Barbie Extra Vanity Set Doll share the same skin tone! So you can get the 2021 Barbie MTM Doll with green dye pants or the older MTM Doll with the grey and blue top. You can also get the Barbie MTM Soccer dolls.
On some occasions I've seen the soccer MTM dolls compared to the other MTM dolls I've mentioned to have difference in shade (darker). So I will definitely pay attention to that. But they all work fine for each Extra.
I hope that this was helpful! Happy Rebodying, Folks! To all the MTM dolls, thank you so much for your service!
Til next time ✌🏾

Rebodied Toy Soldier Theory
Despite having a backstory and a semi-solid characterization for the Toy Soldier there’s a lot of questions we still have about it! To be expected among this impossible group of space pirates to be confused about their backstory and what makes them tick, in this way literally, but I have a theory that could answer a lot of those pressing questions.
Warning for image of choking, implied abuse, implied sex work, and canon typical fucked up stuff, especially UDAD related
So we don’t actually know in all certainty where the Toy Soldier is from. We have a few clues to help us out, though.
1. The Toy Soldier was somewhere with very traditional English practices “She taught him how to take proper English tea and how to talk like a real officer [...]” - SotTS (The Story of the Toy Soldier)
2. It came around not long after a revolution “She once had a handsome fiance, but he had died in a long ago revolution. [...] The Toy Soldier was her favorite. He wore her fiance’s old uniform.” - SotTS
3. There is a Salvation Army or something similar on the same planet/colony
[ID: The Toy Soldier hitting a drum behind a procession of Salvation Army representatives with a sign above them reading “The Salvation Army.” An arrow points to the Toy Soldier in the back. A woman in the front tries to hand a pamphlet with a cross on it to a passerby. /END ID]
4. The planet/colony was knowledgable and within reach of the King Cole War “[...] the Toy Soldier joined the ranks of the Rose Reds and fought in the bloody conflict of the Revolution.” - SotTS
5. The planet is close enough to the City from UDAD to have products imported from there.
You may be asking, “wait, Frankie, how do you know that?” Well, my dear friends, it’s actually rather stuble, but warnings for and image of choking, although crude.
[ID: A pencil drawing of the Toy Soldier choking out a woman with long, pale hair while she sleeps. A wine bottle lays empty above her head on the pillow. /END ID]
This lady is the Angel, a woman that the Toy Soldier fell in love with, presumably before leaving its original planet. So this scene also presumably happens on that same planet. Up in the top right corner is a wine bottle that reads “Dionysus 2011″ which is a product of Dionysus back in the City.
With that information, we know that products from the City were imported to this planet/colony. Whether this planet is, in fact, Earth or maybe just a colony of Earth is unclear and not entirely important. What is important is what other products the City might have had.
Re-bodying
“Orpheus’ story isn’t unusual: a broke young musician with a dead fiance, just another life chew up by the City. This broke young musician didn’t accept that though. Didn’t care that he didn’t have the money to have mind from the Acheron rebodied, or that those as were came back wrong.” - “Hades” Ulysses Dies at Dawn
Rebodying in the City is when someone takes a mind from the Acheron and places it in a new body. Someone dead being brought back. Now, let’s go back to the start of The Story of the Toy Soldier and take another gander at that rich old lady and her clockwork collection.
[ID: An old lady in a fancy dress smoking and leading the Toy Soldier away from a group of inanimate clockworks as it looks back at them. /END ID]
The most notable part of this image, I think, is the contrast between the Toy Soldier and the other clockworks. The other clockworks stand very still with no expression and seem more like dolls than the Toy Soldier, who holds close to itself and follows, looks nervous, looks confused. From this image alone, it’s clear the Toy Soldier isn’t like the other clockworks.
“But Frankie!” I hear you cry. “There’s no evidence that the rebodied people are put in animatronic bodies! Even in one of the fictions, the other people from the City think the Toy Soldier looks odd!”
“Understandly, Narcissus now refused to have a Somnambulist in the house, and shuddered every time his eyes met the vacant gaze of one outside in the street. He was even deeply suspicious of the Toy Soldier at Dionysus’ speakeasy, despite its unconventional yet obvious sentience.” - Orpheus and Narcissus Go on a Trip to the Seaside
Well, first of all, that’s one person who finds the Toy Soldier uneasy and even then he was more concerned that it was a Somnambulist than it being a clockwork. I find that weird in of itself but that’s not exactly the point, is it? In fact, Orpheus at one point even thinks of the Toy Soldier as a strange re-bodying job.
“They’d soon promoted one of the nymphs to fill his place though: a bizarre prancing, whirring thing that would frolic and cavort for the clients’ amusement, flaunting an incongruously innocent joie de vivre. Some said it had stolen the voice of an angel, but Orpheus thought it sounded pretty human to him. It looked like another bizarre re-bodying job, although apparently it had been bought at a knockdown price from one of Dionysus’ business partners, Parsiphäe Minos, after the genius automaton designer had found it in her basement a while back.” - Orpheus, Dionysus, Muriatic Acid, and the Strange Whirring Thing
“Another strange re-bodying job?” you ask. “What other re-bodying job has Orpheus seen?”
Well, first of all, I think you’re missing the point but I’ll show you anyway.
“Orpheus had also heard recently of a new consultant based at Delphi (a strange re-bodied job by the sound of it) who would give good “moral” advice to assuage the guilt of atrocity wreakers: everything was excusable as long as the ends justified the means.” - Orpheus, Dionysus, Muriatic Acid, and the Strange Whirring Thing
What’s interesting about this is that Brian, who is referenced here, is in fact a strange re-bodied job. He was technically re-bodied into his all-metal body.
That’s beside the point. The important thing is that, although these wooden and metallic re-bodyings are strange, they are only strange. They aren’t impossible, they aren’t incredibly uncommon, and they aren’t questioned. They’re just strange. Perhaps, the technology for this type of re-bodying isn’t the most uncommon thing out there if there isn’t a body available. Perhaps, even, the bodies just look more “human” when re-bodied than the Toy Soldier or Drumbot Brian do.
So, back to the point of the imported products from the City on the Toy Soldier’s originally colony and the fact that those who are re-bodied never come back quite right, we come to the climax of the theory:
The Toy Soldier is a re-bodied version of the old lady’s dead fiance.
Let’s corral all the evidence:
1. The old lady favors the Toy Soldier and acted like it was her dead fiance, even going as far as to have the Toy Soldier say things like “I love you” to her
“Sometimes she made him say things he didn’t understand.” - SotTS
[ID: A pencil drawing of a spilled teacup, a thrown high hell, and a shattered tea saucer at the foot of a chair. There’s a speech bubble that reads “I love you.” /END ID]
2. Products were imported to this planet from the City
3. Re-bodying jobs that look like Drumbot Brian or the Toy Soldier are only considered “strange” (at least by Orpheus)
4. No one in the City entirely thought the Toy Soldier as odd except for looking re-bodied
Conclusion: The Toy Soldier is a re-bodied version of the old woman’s fiance after he died in the revolution. Liking clockworks, the old lady had her re-bodied fiance look like a clockwork. The Toy Soldier didn’t come back quite right, which is common for a re-bodying job. Frustrated with this, the old lady taught the Toy Soldier things that would make it more similar to her dead fiance like how to compliment her, what to say to sound like a real officer, and to tell her it loves her.
Now, this has a lot of implications in a lot of directions that you are free to speculate on and I would also love to hear other people’s input. Either way, thanks for reading my inane theory and thanks to the people in the various Discord servers I’m in for helping me with this!

Here is my custom Hasbro Moana doll rebodied onto a Made to Move body and repainted/restyled to look like Dolores Madrigal from Encanto.
I honestly did plan to have this custom done some time in January but I got incredibly, incredibly ill and by the time I got part of my strength back I've seen so many customs of her done it was honestly a bit intimidating to get back into customising especially since I'm not 100% well yet.
I am very glad I've gotten my repaint method down to a very efficient level especially since I think the Moana sculpt is perfect for Dolores and I wasn't as overwhelmed trying to figure out how to better match Dolores.
Also a side note but I am very pleasantly surprised how nice it is having only to use about 4 paint colours for this custom too, which helped with my anxiety about getting back into face ups.
I also did end up curling her hair into a much tighter curl as Moana's default hair does have some curl but not the Afro-Latina type of curl essential for Dolores.

Internet seems to be working while everyone’s asleep so here’s a quick untidied photodump of the view from my desk. Helper Corinne on a stepladder helped put the Rainbow Surprise girls and Pullips into the high displays (she seemed besotted with both types) which turned out to be space enough for a 1/4th doll *trombone ohno sound* Leaving the Rainbow Highbrids on the left and work in progress/desk mascots on the right.
I’m unsure if I want to keep Willow Violet, Alma Jade so i’ll need to redress, rebody, try different irises and blush to see if we find that magic combo. Not sure I want to keep Amaya's original eyes as she looks distressed compared to the smaller iris crew.
On the right we have the egg cup for drying rerooted heads, the fake blythe stand for head photos, a Steffi who’s crimping i’m gonna undo if my shoulder will cooperate (it makes her hair tangle), Tilly WIP custom Karma, my pit crew: YeLuoli GZ, Gayle the shibajuku sweet looking rage poppet (one of her hands gives the finger), Lootenant Dànna who’s fallen behind barbie Sev, Lea and Steffie. Furbaby and Dr barbie coral who needs new lippy.
In case your wondering the boxes on the top of the display are bodies, bait, J meds, my meds.
