they are both adults! tho im pretty bad at drawing characters that look older that idk maybe 16-17 no matter how i try lol

idk how old they are in hellish years but basically like... 24+,y.o. adults kind of age range

Scarlette Mayday (the youngest twin) — is a pretty hyperactive and cheerful person. They (really) enjoy music, growing wild plants and changing their mind frequently. Like, changing their mind is their passion. Scarlette, unlike Verosika, is pretty chill with break ups and changing relationships (even settled ones), which Verosika is (maybe strangely) very proud of.

Her friends and family would most likely describe Scarlette as a "sweetheart", as she's usually kind and supportive, but when needed, they can show their sharp nature and act like a real meanie.

She does have some "super cool demon powers" as she says. The most important of her abilities is the flexibility of her body and arms. She's an excellent dancer — in any genre, if you ask — and her dancing, besides being mesmerizing, can literally hypnotize, which she often takes advantage of when she wants a one-night stand or something.

Some of her ex partners will say that she is a monster, some will say that they have never seen such support after such a rough breakup (she is a therapist for those who have had their hearts broken by her), and some will say that their relationships with her were the best of their lives.

Scarlett is not looking for and is unlikely to be looking for a long-term partner. Many of their former partners remain their close friends.

If you ask, yes, she was named Scarlette instead of Scarlet just because Velevette wanted her to be more like herself.

Scarlet is faeflux and abrosexual.

She has a tendency to munch on lots of delicious food and frankly, she's proud of it.

Sage Mayday (the oldest twin) — is the complete opposite of their sibling. Although reserved and not particularly sociable, under the right circumstances Sage still makes contact with others quite easily — their nature doesn't allow otherwise. But he does not intentionally seek contact and relationships with others.

Sage wasn't always like this. As his sibling would say, he "hadn't ever outgrown his teenage phase". However, the restraint and resilience in their character allows Sage to make rather cold-blooded but important decisions when needed.

Sage rarely uses his ability, but he is easily able to materialize any objects or creatures from sketches he draws. They have a pet, which, though no one has ever seen (not even his own sister), that Sage created himself. They describe it as "an entity similar to an Earth cat, with three pairs of paws and three pairs of eyes, a fox tail and parrot-like wings hidden under a ton of fur".

They may have a few murders under their belt that their parents don't know about, but it's hard to count the exact number because some of them were committed not by Sage himself, but by his creatures.

Sage is demi-rose (demiace + demiaro), androgyne and omniflux.

They're not very skilled romantically, tho they assume that in a relationship they'd have been an amazing partner (at least that what their mums tell them).

Although Sage can basically find anyone attractive at some point, he's really into transgender girls in particular.

There can be disagreements between the two twins and the ongoing battle for parental attention from childhood (the usual sibling stuff), but they are still each other's main support. Even though it's hard to hurt both of them — Scarlett doesn't care much for anyone's opinion, and Sage often doesn't take anyone he doesn't know well seriously — if it can be done.... One can only sympathize, because they can and will gnaw for each other (perhaps even literally)

There are no favourite kids in this household, too! So Velvette and Verosika both found their quarrels on that matter silly from the beginning.

anyone who isn't here hasn't offered or chilchuck hasn't considered. however i can be persuaded to add more entries with compelling arguments for them

S TIER

Kabru - follows the rules to the letter. will have fen fed, bathed, taught, played with, and asleep by all the exact right times. if anything diverges from the plan, it's because fen is a goblin, not because kabru did anything wrong. fen likes when kabru reads to him, he does funny voices.

Senshi - follows his own ideas of what's best, but shockingly good at it nonetheless. very careful, and considerate, and makes sure he knows where fen is at all times. fen likes him a lot and they always have a really good time together.

Meijack - doesn't want kids of her own, but is pretty good with them anyway, and she's extremely protective of her little brother. knows exactly what chilchuck expects, and also has a pretty good sense of what he'd approve of when instructions are unclear. strikes a perfect balance of making fen have so much fun that he doesn't realize no mischief is actually being caused.

A TIER

Laios - tends to stray off the beaten path a little, but will always defer to his husband so he's never gonna get too wild with it. he also loves fen more than life itself and won't intentionally put him in any manner of harm's way, no matter what. maybe doesn't count as a babysitter since he's literally fen's other dad, but as far as chilchuck is concerned, anyone outside of himself is a risk if he's not also there, so.

Falin - fen is obsessed with her, and the feeling is more or less mutual. she loves him so, so much. but... she's also maybe not chilchuck's ideal as far as babysitting goes, because she's extremely susceptible to the puppy eyes. can drop down to d tier for a few weeks if fen manages to lead her on some batshit adventure, but generally speaking, chilchuck trusts her.

Yaad - similar to kabru in his ability to follow chilchuck's guidelines to a T, and fen does seem to like him, but he's not always fully prepared for what caring for a young child entails. still, he's a decent enough choice, if he's available.

Dandan - weirdly good at this. chilchuck left the guild to him for a reason--dandan's got a good head on his shoulders, something that's only become more true over time--but "babysitting" wasn't a skill chilchuck anticipated him having. he might shirk responsibility from time to time, but in a "alright, you can stay up an extra hour" way, not a neglectful way.

B TIER

Marcille - fen is safe with her, and she'll do her best (and so very badly wants to be the best aunt ever), but she tends to overthink things and can get distracted easily. also, the older he gets, the angrier fen gets if she mentions magic, because he thinks elves are abusing the spirits. (she tries to default to gnome magic around him but he still side-eyes her for a while. don't worry, they bond properly when he's more self-sufficient.)

Namari - a little nervous about caring for a kid by herself, but she's actually really fond of fen. she does most things right, and chilchuck's not necessarily ideologically opposed to her teaching his son dwarfish swear words, but she's more interested in having fun than being a guardian so she's not the perfect choice.

C TIER

Flertom - perfectly decent, most of the time. loves getting to care for a child (desperately wants her own someday). can get a little sidetracked playing pretend-mom, though, and doesn't always have the best ideas for what to do, which doesn't always end well.

D TIER

Puckpatti - way too scatterbrained for this job, and also way too eager to goof off in whatever way fen indicates he thinks would be fun. she's alright with her sisters since they tend to override her poor decisions and keep her on track, but by herself, she's a last resort.

Izutsumi - basically an older sister to fen, but this is rarely a good thing. he loves her and they have great fun together, but leaving them alone is a recipe for disaster, and even kabru's had to step in and shut the idea down officially. "don't put me in a position where i have to explain how a cat and a toddler burned down an entire castle wing."

F TIER

Shuro - not good with kids. actively kind of scared of this one in particular. will agree if asked, but that's because he's bad at saying no, and chilchuck doesn't intend to ask. (and laios needs to stop thinking it'll work out for anyone.)

Mickbell (& Kuro) - only offered to be a nuisance, or at least that's what chilchuck assumes. kuro might be able to handle it on his own in a pinch, maybe, but there's no point trying to peel him and mickbell apart when there are so many better options.

Mithrun - with kabru? passable. by himself? absolutely the fuck not.

are spot and toodles siblings? what’s their relationship like?

Yeah they are siblings!

When Spot was born she was overjoyed with being a big sister, i like to imagine that she would take spot with her to solve small harmless cases.

Spot was born as silly and lovable as his dad so it doesn't take a lot to love him, he loves handcrafting and later took the interest of solving cases thanks to his other dad and Toodles.

I imagine toodles running around showing baby Spot to everyone she knows going "Look this is my baby brother, isn't he the cutest?"

When they are older (aka when spot looks like the drawing I made) both are a small detective team. I imagine them being a mix of Professor Layton and Sam and Max if that makes sense.

Older Spot remains silly and friendly, while his methods of solving cases or finding clues might seem unserious at times they work and get the job done.

But he ends up questioning if he actually is good at what he does since most of the time people think he isn't adequate for the job due to his personality.

His sister always shows him that those claims are wrong since so far they have been able to solve any case thanks to the work Spot does. And while Spot seems to feel better thinking about it he still has this feeling inside him that seems to be hard to remove.

Toodles is very much aware of the crush Spot has and helps him with anything related to it.

And while Toodles finds "Mr. Snake" (the hand puppet) odd, she won't say anything bad about it since not counting some incidents it has been a good hand puppet... kinda...

Overall they are a good detective duo and will solve any case they get their hands on.

Also uhhh yeah Toodles is older than all of the fankids just wanted to say it.

Here we are, this is Almond Milk Cookie

Funny enough, I was actually trying to go back and find this post after editing something, only to realize I never actually posted it and left it in drafts. Only for one day, but still

Anyways, so on to him

So Almond Milk here is a healer, using almost exclusively milk magic. He started out in Parfaedia, and spent a good portion of time there, until he switched over to the Vanilla Kingdom to learn healing magic, where he now works as a doctor

He’s a very friendly and kind sort, and he’s very dependable. Also, despite what some may think from his profession, he’s quite physically strong as well

However he is self conscious about not being made of “real milk”, instead being made from almonds, and he wonders if his false ingredient hinders his healing abilities. His mother has told him that whether or not his ingredient really counts as “real milk” doesn’t matter, but it’s never been something he’s able to let go. He doesn’t really make it that known anymore though, preferring to keep it to himself

Now on to design things

So I’ve had the name Almond Milk as an almondlatte kid idea for a good while now. Lattes are made of coffee and milk, and there exists a form of milk made of almonds, so it’s the obvious choice

Almond milk:

I made the initial rough sketch some months ago, so I don’t entirely remember the thought process behind it. But it looks nice, and like Latte’s but with one of Almond’s hair colors

I’m not sure why I gave him a thicker body type, but whatever, he has one. It’s not like I’m that good at drawing super skinny Cookies anyways

His outfit was originally going to be more hospital like, and probably somewhat closer to Butter Roll’s, until I decided that maybe I should make it more fantasy looking. Especially with all of my Almond kids generally having more modern looks to them, or at least in the way that Almond is “modern”, I don’t know the right word

The small cloak thing was a bit of a struggle, especially with his smile, but I eventually got something

In the sketch I gave his almond brooch something around it that looked nice, but I wasn’t really sure what it was going into the lineart, so I made it leaves. They probably shouldn’t have lines and should instead be solid green, but whatever

I gave him that spoon last minute in the sketch, since I remembered that as I said prior, I tend to not give my fankids accessories or tools anymore, and I wanted to rectify that. Unfortunately his pose didn’t really lend me well to putting it in his hands, so it’s just slapped on to the back. I’m also noticing now that the spoon itself it too small, at least on the bowl thing. But it’d be a big hassle to try and fix it, so I guess I’m stuck with it annoying the crap out of it

Oh yeah, so as mentioned earlier, I came to edit something in his design, that being his colors. Originally he looked like this

I liked the blue, and it does give him a color scheme unique from his parents, but my big problem was that the colors reminded me of Marcille from Dungeon Meshi. I don’t know if the outfit is exactly like hers, but it was bugging me, so I changed it. I think overall I like the new color scheme better, but I just wanted to mention the old one

I’m actually quite satisfied with how he turned out. Though granted I did have ideas going in about what to do with him, so that probably helped

Tw for child death

Remember how I said Rosy Posy does runs in secret?

Well here’s the thing. For obvious reasons, in a situation where death is permanent, this would go wrong incredibly quick…but. Here’s the thing, death is not permanent here, when the toons die they come back, someone could die during a solo and if no one else was in the lobby they wouldn’t even know they’d died because they simply show back up in the lobby…with the one catch being that there will be another twisted to deal with, as every time a toon dies, a new twisted is made.

So of course Rosy Posy has died, even if only Dandy knows…

Before this, as far as Glisten knew, his daughter had never died, he hadn’t allowed her on any runs, the only ones out of any of the kids (not counting Toodles…idk if these guys age or not) who have been allowed on runs are Lofty (after they had to do a lot of convincing to Sprout) and another Fankid I haven’t shown yet, Andromeda (Midnight Tragedy).

What sets your Tobey apart from other Tobey's in other aus? (+which ships do you make happen in the au?) (sorry if you were asked that before)

Hm. Good question. I think what sets Future AU Tobey from others. Is that in this one, he got the big depression from the start. It's like a thing in his character journey along with other struggles with his image and emotions that go beyond Wordgirl (heck, in most of the AU, he and Wordgirl don't interact as much). In general, he's struggling with his talents, too. Another is that he exhibits more older brother energy and later motherly attributes to characters (he becomes the tired of everyone mom friend) (obviously, this excludes characters like Scoops, Becky, Two-brains, Claire, Ect. Who he has different established dynamics.) He's a teenager at the start of the AU's story, and in the AU is mostly watching over the younger members/OCs. It's a whole thing. Symbolism of how he can break the cycle of his father and also take into value psychologically how much he is becoming like his mom in a way, or like other mothers. Look, things get psychological, and the embrace of feminity and learning the hardship and trauma of motherhood is like a thing with Tobey's psyche and post redemption. Evangelion wishes it could be doing the things I will traumatize Tobey to. ^v^

Also, he's got a mysterious pocket watch he found that allows him limited time powers. Tobey's already been connected to the concept of time a lot, and the idea of giving him this ability like to replay a few seconds does come from a cool idea/what if by the one and only Liz Breen. Tobey and time are like this 🤞 in the AU, part of his character aesthetic. (Lmao, it's why in Discord chats, I've nicknamed him Timey to differentiate him from other AU Tobey's).

As for ships. Yeah, I think I have stated which ones I'm going to focus on. Or I have established in universe as a possibility to explore more with. But, don't worry, it's fine to ask. Thx.

A/N. this is the first work I make for a oc's of the sonic fankid showdown!! I'll be making more of these bcs i'm such a fan of a lot of kids!! soooo hope you enjoy this one !!

It’s been a couple of days since the last time Castor spoke to her. Nerves soon began to eat her up, and she didn’t even know what happened for him to put that kind of distance between the two of them. Mumbling to herself about the possibilities, she couldn’t think of what could be wrong.

“Why don’t you just ask him?” Mav, her friend, asked her.

“It’s not that simple!” She complained, rubbing her eyes. “What if he doesn’t want to see me at all? It’ll make things worse!”

“Or, it can clear things up… Come on!”

“No. I’ll try to get information without him knowing and you’ll help me!” the girl said pointing a finger at his face. Mav sighed and rolled his eyes; he couldn’t help but comply at her friends’ antics.

Days passed, both of them following Castor around secretly, spying on him around the island, but there was no information, just him living a normal life like everyone else.

“I told you, you won’t get anything unless you talk to him.” Mav said as he lay on the couch of his friend’s house, stretching his limbs up.

“I don’t know…” she replied sitting cross legged on the carpeted floor, in front of the couch.

Mav looked at his friend and clicked his tongue. “Alright, I’ll help.” He said, moving to lay on his side. A hand beneath his chin. “What was the last time you guys spoke?”

“I don’t know, maybe… Like a week…” The girl replied, defeated.

“Okay, and what happened that day?”

Recalling, the girl started to narrate their encounter: what they talked about, the jokes they both cracked, the laughs, but she was soon stopped by Mav’s interjecting fast, sitting abruptly on the couch.

“Wait, what did you just said?”

“He was talking about the golden flowers he could materialize from his thoughts?”

“And you said…”

“That I had a gift for him!”

“Which was?”

“A… Bouquet of white ivies?”

Mav opened his eyes, too stunned to speak. “Now why would you give flowers to a guy? Do you like him?”

“No!” the girl replied quickly. “I mean, not in that way! We’re just friends! I wanted to give him something he’d like, as I know he likes the language of flowers.”

Both of them kept quiet for a second. “What does giving ivies mean?”

The girl smiled. “Oh, I read on an article that they meant an everlasting friendship…”

It was weird then. The flowers meant no harm. Then what was it?

“You know what? You’re right, I didn’t do anything wrong!” Mav’s friend said as she got up and walked to the door. “I’ll ask him once and for all what’s happening and why he isn’t talking to me.” She said decisively as she went outside, quickly heading to the place Castor usually went: the library.

Quickly getting to the place, she entered. It was almost empty, just a few people, but Castor was on a corner, far away from everyone. As she walked up to him, she sat on the unoccupied chair of his table, his attention suddenly disturbed by the presence of the girl. He frowned, a grimace on his face. A forced teethy smile on his lips.

“Heeey.” He said closing the book he was reading.

“We need to talk,” The girl said, her voice low so she wouldn’t disturb the other people.

“Do we really?” he asked putting the book away, resisting the urge to leave.

She groaned. “Castor, what is going on? Why aren’t you talking to me? Is it about the flowers?” A whispered yell was heard in the hall, but nobody seemed to care.

Castor looked at her, then looked around and his eyes fell on her again. Inhaling sharply, he got closer to her, his elbows on the table as he leaned closer.

“Look, I don’t mean to be rude, but I’m not interested in… Anything regarding of a partner and all that, you’re my friend! And… I don’t know…”

“What are you talking about?” she interrupted, a confused expression crossing on her face.

Castor cleared his throat and replied.

“About the marriage proposal.”

Marriage proposal?!

“What? What marriage proposal?” the girl’s voice suddenly grew higher.

“With the flowers!” he said, his voice getting a little higher involuntarily. “I didn’t know you saw me like that but I thought you knew I’m not… Into that…”

“Castor what… Hold on…” the girl put a hand up so he could stop talking for a moment. “What does the white ivies mean?” she asked covering her lips with her fist.

The lilac hedgehog raised an eyebrow, didn’t she know that?

“It’s a flower presented to the bride and groom as symbols of everlasting life, devotion, fidelity and loyalty. The Greeks also used it to make a crown for Liber, the God of Fertility, as well as poets and other muses.” He explained with a weird tone, like he was explaining the most obvious thing to her.

But he noticed it wasn’t that obvious when the girl turned absolutely red and licked her lips nervously. She didn’t know where to look, the space in the whole library suddenly wasn’t enough for her to take a good breath.

“You’re telling me I gave you… Marriage flowers?”

Castor nodded.

“I thought they meant an everlasting friendship…” She said finally, with a weak voice as she covered her face with her hands.

And then it was silent.

“Friendship? Where did you read that?”

Still covering her face, she replied: “Google.”

A low laugh could be heard from the other side of the table, soon turning loud. A quick shush from another person on the library made Castor stop laughing.

“My friend, you should know better than to trust Google.” He spoke. With a deep sigh, he stretched on the chair and stood up. The girl looked at him in between her fingers. “Well, seems to me like everything goes back to normal. What do you think?” He said, putting one of his hands on her shoulder. Slowly, she raised from her seat, still warm in the face from embarrassment.

“I’ll need you to educate me more on that flowery language you like so I don’t mess up next time.”

He smiled. Walking out of the library, they noticed the sun was almost setting. Castor looked at his friend, stretching out his hand behind her ear, he caught a bouquet of pink tulips, handing them over so she could grab them. She knew he just summoned those flowers because of the faint purple glow it had and she found it perfect.

Picking one of the tulips, she gave it to him.

Castor looked intently at the flower and raised it in the air, towards the setting sun. “I wish for us to have a good friendship forever.” Like a wish, holding the tulip, he then blew on the soft petals, the flower soon turning into a dandelion, its fluff flowing through the air as a promise for eternity.

**Pink tulips are known for meaning affection, caring, good wishes, and love. Although not as deep or passionate love as red tulips represent. Pink tulips are great to send to friends and family members to show them you care.

Uhm so, I wrote this Amanene fankids ficlet to de-stress about my exams and also cuz I'm sick and I needed to do something simple to occupy myself. I'm sharing it because "the human connection will make me feel like a human again- what?"

For the first time since their second child was born, Nene finally got a whole day with the house and bed to herself. Meanwhile, Amane owed Tsubaki a daddy-daughter date - albeit, with Tsugumi in tow - that was long overdue. However, before they could do that, Amane had to explain that they needed to make a quick stop to get groceries to acquire the food that kept them alive along with other products that made them not stink. It was still a difficult concept for Tsubaki to grasp but as long as she got a strawberry icecream for her troubles, everything was fine.

So here they were; Amane was walking through the aisles, and crossing things off the list. While Tsubaki was sitting in the cart’s baby seat, kicking her feet and looking around curiously, Tsugumi was strapped to his father’s back, sleeping soundly as he was being rocked by all the walking around. Unlike his older sister, Tsugumi was a calm newborn who didn’t act up too much and loved his beauty sleep; much to Amane and Nene’s relief. They got through the list pretty quickly, but reached the dreaded item, as per Kou’s request. Amane steeled himself and headed into the toy aisle. As he tried to choose a good gift for his niece/granddaughter  - Kou and Sousuke’s daughter, Ageha - he could see in his peripheral vision his own child’s eyes move to every single toy on the shelf. 

“... Baba?” 

Oh for the love of- “Yes, sweetie?” he said, forcing his voice to remain neutral. Tsubaki pointed towards a doll Amane could have sworn she already had. 

“Can I have this pleeeassseee?” She asked, giving him her best puppy dog eyes that had a track record of making her poor father break on multiple occasions. 

“I don’t know, is it on the list?” He asked rhetorically. Tsubaki, being only five years old at the time, just stared at him and shrugged. Amane smiled affectionately and ruffled her hair. “It’s not, baby. We’re only buying something for your cousin. Uncle Kou and Sousuke are coming over next week.” He reminded her while he kept looking through the toys in front of him. Tsubaki seemed to think long and hard about something. 

“Why can’t I have things that aren’t on the list?” She asked. 

“Cuz we only buy things that are on the list.” Amane responded immediately, remembering the long lecture he and Nene got from all the 3 grandparents for ‘spoiling Tsubaki too much’ after they had helped them sell the thousands of toys that she had grown bored of in the span of two weeks.

“It’s not like the earth would blow up if we bought something that wasn’t on the list…” Tsubaki mumbled under her breath. 

“Who says it couldn’t?” Amane reasoned. Tsubaki stared at him confusedly. 

“It could do that?” She asked. 

“I mean, it exists because of an explosion, so… Maybe?” Amane was multi-tasking; he worked on distracting Tsubaki while also trying to choose between two purple barbies. He eventually put them both down when he remembered the last conversation he had with Kou a few days ago where he told him that after years of purple being her favourite color, Ageha woke up one day and suddenly decided that it was the worst thing to ever exist. 

Tsubaki looked like she was struggling to understand what her dad meant by that. “... What?” 

“The big bang, sweetie.” He clarified, finally turning to face Tsubaki as he had found a gift: a pair of turquoise fairy wings. “There was an explosion a billion years ago and it made the earth. Well, I’ll explain that better when you’re older.” 

Tsubaki tilted her head to the side. “Did you see that happen?” 

“Of course not!” Amane exclaimed. “Hold on- how old do you think I am?” It was in moments like that that Amane was grateful that Tsubaki still struggled to count over one hundred.

“Seventy eight! Mommy said so!” She recalled proudly. Amane paled and hurried to mentally calculate if Tsubaki and Nene were wrong or if he really was a decrepit old man.

…“...I’m physically thirty two.” He muttered before walking away and going back to explaining the big bang to a toddler, which was much easier than thinking about the fact that you were physically forty six years younger than you were supposed to be.

He spent a lot of time...inside a tank of sorts. Created in one and put back in whenever he needed adjustments (as stated in his ref sheet) Sometimes he'd just kinda wake up in there too, not really remembering what happened before. But supposedly, every time THAT happened, it was to make him better. Stronger. More effective. Over time that tight space just kind of became normalized, it feels safer and more familiar. When he feels bad about himself, extremely upset, overwhelmed, etc, he'll try and find a little corner to crawl into.

Noah’s ass would be diagnosed with whatever he has, autism and possible something else. His jobs (if he’s a professor) is really just him yapping about something he likes. But i might run a poll onto which one and rewrite his. But if he’s a game developer I could see him yapping to his helpers and artist and stuff about very specific details and hex codes he wants. Marven’s room is VERY messy. Well, a more accurate description would be “Organized Chaos” since he seems to know where everything is. A bunch of black and white decor, occasionally some reds and purples too. He def has an electric guitar or two displayed on his wall as well as a bunch of posters, fashion magazines scattered around and his closet is probably on the verge of exploding with how many clothes he has😭 His shoe rack??? Overflowing too. Funnily enough, his clothes and shoes are the only thing in his entire room thats organized.

Evelio’s room is actually just as chaotic. He likes a more vintage style— but he also has a bunch of silly looking decor that he got just because it looked dumb. His shelves are filled with random silly little bits and bobs, and he has WAAAY too many books to fit his room. Everywhere you look, theres probably a book there. Since he just puts them wherever he can. In the drawers? A book. In his closet? Some stacks of books hidden behind the hanging clothes. Under his bed??? You guessed it, books.

But unlike Marven, he doesnt know where anything is. Usually he has to call Marven over, since he has this odd sixth sense to just… Find something he’s lost. Evelio’s room may look more refined at first, but really, its even worse than Marven’s.

Alora’s room is OVERFLOWINGG with plushies. She definetly has a lot of super cute stuff! As well as creepy decor she finds at a halloween store. She quite literally has some skeletons in her closet. She definetly has an assortment of cheap halloween masks somewhere, as well as a bunch of creepy dolls and other “haunted” things she found online or in person at antique stores. A perfect mix of scary and cute! After all, she truly is just a girl :33.

15. Why do they like each other?

The big thing for both of them is they just enjoy each other’s company. They have fun when they’re together. They make each other laugh. They were best friends before they were dating, and they’re still best friends.

Taako would tell you something like “he’s big and buff and dumb what more do you need” but really he likes how caring Magnus is. It was kind of a novel thing for him to be with someone who took care of him and protected him and all that. (Honestly he kinda takes advantage of Magnus’s willingness to do things for him lol. Just a little bit.) Magnus is a very heart-on-his-sleeve kinda guy, and Taako kinda finds that weirdly fascinating. He’s very used to playing mind games and trying to stay one step ahead of other people and being careful never to be too vulnerable, and then Magnus just disregards all of that and says what he means. Also Magnus is big and buff and dumb that IS also part of it.

Magnus likes how funny Taako is, and also how cool he is. He think Taako is SO cool, especially when he was younger. They were on the Starblaster and 20-year-old Magnus was like oh my god this guy is the coolest thing ever he has magic powers and he’s so funny and so pretty and acts so smug cuz he just KNOWS how FUCKING COOL HE IS and I NEED to suck his dick. It kinda cooled down a bit as time went on lol but part of him is still SO impressed every time Taako does anything. And he likes doing things for Taako. He likes making him happy, and he likes how Taako reacts when he does.

OKAY SO. I have a fankid for them I’ve never officially posted about cuz. Idk I never bothered. But her name is Iggy, short for Ignacia. Taako named her, and I think if they have any more kids, he’d want to name them too. But Magnus is the one who comes up with all sorts of nicknames. (He’s fond of calling her Zigzag)

MAGNUS FOR SURE I think a magic space jellyfish would count as illegal if they’d been under the jurisdiction of any governing body when he brought that home lmao. More than once during the stolen century he definitely found some injured alien creature and befriended it and brought it home to heal and they all had to be like. Magnus. Magnus we don’t know what this thing is or what it eats or if it’s dangerous. You can’t keep doing this.

Taako thought it was funny back then. He did not find it as funny post-story and song when Magnus brought a fucking bear cub into their home. (The bear was fine, they took it to a fantasy zoo or something)

Week 2 — Pluck

setting: restored valla, several years post fire emblem fates: revelation

It’s the sound their lyre makes as their fingers strum the instrument’s delicate strings, playing from memory the tune they’ve been practicing steadily for the past several weeks. The notes and rhythm come easy to them now, filling the empty corridor with its mellow sound, competing with the excitement and jubilation spilling out from the gathering a few doors down.

Parties had never really been Lorelei’s cup of tea, least of all those that were exceptionally noisy and attended by more people than they could count on one hand that they didn’t recognize. Sensing their unease, Cenn had taken the empty seat to their right and encouraged them to take a break from the festivities if they would like, just so long as they didn’t wander too far.

They didn’t need to travel far to find the calm they needed, leaving the room with their treasured instrument in hand and making themself comfortable on one of the upholstered benches lining the hallway. The discordance in their mind soon quiets as they begin to play, imagining how their favourite tree back home must be billowing gently in the breeze as its leaves rustle in the wind.

Eyes falling closed as they allow their fingers to move by memory and feel, Lorelei does not hear the footsteps approaching them—engrossed in their music as they are—nor do they notice the other’s presence until they open their eyes and jump back with a startle.

“I’m sorry!” The boy is quick to apologize, taking a step back to give them some space. “I didn’t mean to scare you.”

Lorelei shakes their head, reassuring the other no serious harm had befallen them. “I wasn’t expecting to find someone listening to me when I looked up.”

“Why?”

They gesture towards the light pouring out from the room a few doors away. A delightful cheer echoes out into the hall, followed by several adoring coos and other expressions of encouragement.

“Oh right, my family’s here visiting to see the new baby too.”

“But not you?”

“I’m looking for something. Want to help?”

They look back towards the door again, tapping on the frame of their lyre as they think through their options. “Is it far?”

“Maybe. It’s at least within the castle.”

“I dunno, I don’t wanna get lost.”

“We won’t!” 

Lorelei rolls their eyes at that, their confidence in the other diminishing.

“...Probably.”

“Well, what is it you’re looking for? What makes you think it’s even here?”

“Stories my mother told me—well actually, stories her mother told her—say the castle has an old amphitheatre. Apparently, my grandmother performed on its stage, once upon a time.”

“And what will you do if you find it?”

For the first time, the boy takes a moment to think. Clearly, his eagerness to locate the amphitheatre had been so forefront of his mind that he had not thought through this plan.

“Well, you’re a musician. When we find it, I could dance on stage while you play the lyre.”

“No way!”

“Why not?”

“I’m not that good at playing. And I only know three songs by memory.”

“That’s plenty!”

“Not really…besides, none of the songs I can play are that great for dancing.”

The boy frowns, growing silent once more to think of something new. It’s then that a voice calls out from further down the corridor, catching the other’s attention as the man repeats himself. 

“Sounds like you have someone looking for you.”

“Sooner than I expected… will you be here tomorrow?”

“On this bench? Probably not.”

“You know what I mean!”

Lorelei laughs a bit. Shigure—as they’ve now learned—was easy to get along with, unlike some of the other children at the party.

“Yes, we’re visiting for most of the season.”

“Great! I’ll find you tomorrow then. Bring your lyre!”

Before they have the chance to give Shigure their name, he leaves as quickly as he had appeared, returning to the party with whom Lorelei assumes is his father. Once more, the hallway grows quiet, safe for the idle chatter which occasionally filters out of the room, and the skilled plucking of strings, Lorelei returning once more to their lyre.

Perhaps this evening they would ask Papa and Cenn over supper if it would be alright to do a bit of exploring in the coming days. Shigure seemed rather intent on having them come along, and admittedly Lorelei’s curiosity was now piqued over the acoustics the amphitheatre may hold.
