*mushes two of my favorite AUs together*
Red Hood!Steph would still be a Desolation avatar—there’s too much anger, too much destruction, too much hate & desire for the complete annihilation of the targets of that hate to be anything else—but she’s different.
RH!Jason is an earthquake.
RH!Steph would be a lightning storm. The crackle of electricity, the taste of ozone, the light of something utterly uncontrollable in her eyes. The billowing, bulging thunder cloud sweeping across the sky to blot out the sun. Wind enough to rip up trees, rain so heavy you can’t see, but lightning, lightning every few seconds, like all the electricity in the world has been stolen underneath her skin. A fire-starter (like Jason) but the blaze itself is not what you have to Fear, the blaze is merely a side effect of something much more powerful sweeping through. Her victims are not shattered bones & splattered brains, they’re bleeding ears & the reek of cooking meat.
Jason borders the Buried far closer than he’d like.
Steph would dance on the border of the Vast like a small child dances in the rain: with wild abandon & near-feral glee.

Conversation
Which fears (from The Magnus Archives) would the Batfam and Gotham Rogues be associated with?
Dick Grayson: The Vast. A first impulse would be the Stranger because of the circus association, but no, Dick conquered his fear of falling in a dramatic way and now he's aligned with the Vast.
Jason Todd: The Hunt. The End maybe had a claim for a while there but nah, he's a Hunt avatar what with the crusade to take out the most nefarious Gotham rogues. (and hey in a TMA crossover the Joker is likely to actually die permanently!)
Tim Drake: The Eye. It's the curiosity, the keeping secrets, the need to know... during the initial Red Robin arc you can track his descent into becoming a full-fledged (pun intended) avatar. The paranoia also fits.
Damian Wayne: Probably also the Hunt, though Ra's did his utmost to push him toward the Slaughter. I don't know. It's hard to say anything about Damian because DC keeps changing his characterization AND mishandling his character.
Barbara Gordon: Also the Eye. In this version of events, she's a huge help to Tim in handling the paranoia and the compulsion and so forth. give us Red Robin working with the Birds of Prey you cowards
Stephanie Brown: I was almost going to say the Lonely but I actually think she might be the Web. especially since it means she doesn't have the drive to take part in any ritual nonsense. I don't have a reasoning, just a feeling... maybe she doesn't have any alignment (a sign of a true balanced and sane mind)
Cassandra Cain: The Hunt. She still doesn't kill people. Don't ask me how that works. She's Cassandra Freaking Cain. She does what she wants.
Bruce Wayne: The Stranger. He created Batman to be an unknown force, uncanny because he was unknown. (He was the hardest to figure out out of the Batfam.)
Helena Bertinelli: The Hunt. Nough said.
Selena Kyle: Possibly the Spiral.
Harley Quinn: Could be either the Spiral or the Stranger. Leaning toward the Spiral.
The Joker: Depends on the version. Mark Hamill Joker is probably the Spiral or maybe the Stranger; current comics Joker is either the Desolation or the Slaughter. Current comics Joker is no match for Daisy Tonner; Mark Hamill Joker has at least a fighting chance.
Mr. Zsaz: The Flesh.
Lady Shiva: Could be the Hunt but I'm leaning toward the Slaughter, she just has a better handle on it than most Slaughter avatars.
Ra's Al Ghul: His motivations say the Flesh but his aesthetics and actions say the Web. I'm leaning towards the Web for Ra's.
