Denmark Vesey planned to seize Charleston’s arsenals and guard houses, kill the Governor, set fire to the city, and kill every white man they saw. More than 1,000 free and enslaved blacks intended to be a part of this uprising which was planned for July 14,1822.
Denmark Vesey was transported from St. Thomas to Cape Francias by Captain Joseph Vesey. When Captain Vesey returned to Cape Francais he was forced to reclaim Denmark, whom his master believed was suffering from epileptic fits. Denmark then traveled with Captain Vesey on his trading voyages until the Captain retired to Charleston, SC. Denmark Vesey never again showing signs of epilepsy. In 1799, Vesey won the lottery and bought his freedom for $600. Although he was unable to purchase the freedom of his wife and children.

In 1822, Vesey and a few other leaders from the African Church began plotting a rebellion. Vesey’s chief lieutenant was an East African priest named Gullah Jack, who was known to lead conspirators in prayer/rituals and gave them amulets to protect them in battle. Vesey’s theology of liberation, combined with Gullah Jack’s African mysticism, inspired potential participants, and word of the rebellion grew in Charleston.

Vesey then set the date for revolt on July 14th. Black men from Charleston and surrounding plantations planned to seize Charleston’s arsenals and guard houses, kill the Governor, set fire to the city, and kill every white man they saw.
However, in June several slaves started to get nervous about the rebellion and told the plot to their masters.
Charleston authorities began arresting leaders. Vesey was captured on June 22, and he and the conspirators were brought to trial. Despite torture and the threat of execution, the men refused to give up their followers. On July 2nd, Denmark Vesey and five other men were hanged. Gullah Jack was executed several days later, with the total number of executions reaching 35 by August 9th.

In the end, this conspiracy against slavery helped galvanize black communities throughout the United States especially when anti-slavery activists began referring to Denmark Vesey as a hero.

Finno-Ugric Trio Week Fic #4. (AKA the secretly badass trio)
Title: language arguments Author: MementoMoriPontifexMorts Rating: General Warnings: denest mention, randomness
Sept 20th: Whatchu Say? Wednesday While related, these languages aren’t really mutually intelligible. Estonia and Finland have words that are false friends all over the place. And then Hungarian got influences from entirely different countries. Time to miscommunication! OR maybe bond over the few words they do all share.
A/N: So this is again based on something that I used to do, this time based during my Spanish classes I used to take. My teacher would have us repeat the word back to our partner to make sure we were all saying it right and so I thought, hmm, what would be a great way to represent this prompt so I wrote this and then was like oh wait does this prompt even fit with this dumb story and then was like, well it’s midnight and i have a midnight picnic to get to. Which are things okay that really are nice when it comes to driving out of the city and getting to see all the stars and everything.Anyway, translations at the bottom, hope you all enjoy!!
“Yksi.”
“Ei. Üks.”
“Nem. Egy.”
“Ei onnistu. MikĂ€ sinua vaivaa?”
Elizaveta frowned, “Hey!” She pouted slightly before shaking her head. “KĂ©t.”
“Kaksi.”
“Kaks.”
A snicker from Denmark in the background had them all turning to glare at the onlookers. This was quickly becoming their form of arguing, where instead of any mean words being said, they would just repeat words or sentences that sounded different but similar – well would if they hadn’t chosen the gosh dang number system that Elizaveta hated very much. She turned back to the other two, watching as they gave the tall Nordic nation a certain look before coming back to the conversation.
“Sajnálom, ilyen vicces.” She said shrugging lightly.
Eduard gave her a deadpan look, “Ei ole.” He muttered. “Kolm.”
“Kolme.”
“Oh come now, Tino, an added ‘e’ is superfluous!” Eduard argued, “That ‘e’ is stupid.”
“Her’s is három – why am I getting yelled at?”
“That’s an affront as well and I’ll get to that, but did none of you learn from -”
Elizaveta cut him off, “You lose round one, Eduard.” She said laughing lightly. “And my language is fine. Pick another subject.”
Eduard rolled his eyes a little, huffing a little breath before nodding. “Vesi.”
“Vesi.”
“Víz.”
“JÀÀ.”
“JÀÀ.”
“JĂ©g.”
Denmark interrupted again, “It’s literally almost midnight, I’m bored and hungry – not Hungary because that’s her – and Norge won’t let us eat the picnic stuff until we get to the spot.” His voice a heavy whine as he leaned against the table, grasping Estonia’s hand and giving him a pouting face. “Please.”
Estonia blushed, “Oh, hĂ€sti ... jah, okei.” He muttered before turning to the other two, “I forfeit. We can finish this some other time.”
“Tino, explain to Denmark he can’t play the boyfriend card!” Elizaveta huffed, “I’m the winner than, since I’m older.”
“You’re not older.”
“I’m older.”
“No you aren’t.”
“Ughhh.” Denmark dropped his head on the table while the other three Nordic nations groaned along in annoyance. The three of them were far too much together.
A/N: Like I said, midnight picnics are fun. My friend lives on a large plot of land due to her parents being farmers and so I really like going out into the fields and just throwing a blanket down and watching the stars. Most of the translations came from the Finnic Ugric swadesh list on wikipedia, some of the Estonian came from the youtuber, Little Miss Squirrel and the rest came from google translate and several websites explaining how the grammar in Hungarian is. If anything’s wrong, I am so sorry.
Translations: Yksi. Üks. Egy - the number one. [Finnish, Estonian, Hungarian] Ei - No [Estonian] Nem - No [Hungarian] Ei onnistu. MikĂ€ sinua vaivaa - no way, what’s wrong with you? [Finnish] KĂ©t. Kaksi. Kaks.- the number two [Hungarian, Finnish, Estonian] SajnĂĄlom, ilyen vicces.- I’m sorry, that’s [it’s] funny. [Hungarian] Ei ole - Is not [Estonian] Kolm, kolme, hĂĄrom - the number three [Estonian, Finnish, Hungarian] vesi.vesi. vĂz. - water [Finnish, Estonian, Hungarian] jÀÀ. jÀÀ.jĂ©g.- ice [Estonian, Finnish, Hungarian] Oh, hĂ€sti ... jah, okei. - Oh, well... yes, okay. [Estonian]

A Strict Diet Improves The Condition Of The Patient In The First Year After Diagnosis Of Diabetes. Dietary changes unassisted can gain the same benefits as changes in both aliment and exercise in the first year after a person is diagnosed with variety 2 diabetes, a new study contends. English researchers found that patients who were encouraged to be beaten weight by modifying their diet with the help of a dietician had the same improvements in blood sugar (glycemic) control, bulk loss, cholesterol and triglyceride levels as those who changed both their diet and physical liveliness levels as 30 minutes of brisk walking five times a week viagra tablets vesi mari denga. Both groups achieved about a 10 percent repair in blood sugar control, cholesterol and triglyceride levels compared to patients who received programmed care. The two intervention groups also lost an commonplace of 4 percent of their body weight, while those in a routine care group had little or no weight loss imodium for 3 yr old. Patients in the mechanical care group were also three times more likely than those in the intervention groups to start on diabetes medication before the end of the study. And "Getting occupy to exercise is quite difficult, and can be expensive," lead researcher Rob Andrews, a chief lecturer at the University of Bristol, said in an American Diabetes Association copy release seek men singapore. "What this study tells us is that if you only have a limited amount of money, in that first year of diagnosis, you should target on getting the diet right". He pointed out, however, that the study participants with standard 2 diabetes preferred to engage in both exercise and dietary changes. "They found diet unequalled quite negative". One reason they might not have seen an additional benefit from exercise "is because people often decide a trade. That is, if they go to the gym, then they feel as if they can have a treat. That could be why we saw no difference in the mass loss for the diet plus exercise group". Andrews suggested that future research focus on determining whether adding irritate at a later time would make more of a difference. "Blood glucose control gets worse over time. In the at stages, people tend to make rapid improvements and then it stays the same for a while. Adding agitate later might provide another boost in control whereas it wouldn't antediluvian on". The study results were slated to be reported June 24, 2011 at a symposium interval by the ADA and The Lancet at the ADA's Scientific Sessions meeting in San Diego. A shift study to be presented at the symposium found that intensive treatment of type 2 diabetes led to a cold shoulder reduction in cardiovascular disease risk factors. For that study, nearly half a million settle in Denmark, the Netherlands and the United Kingdom were screened for diabetes. The 3057 populace who were found to have the disease were assigned to receive either intensive treatment or routine care. Intensive treatment included lifestyle changes (quitting smoking, healthier eating, more actual activity), aspirin treatment, and focused medication treatment for blood pressure, blood sugar and lipids (blood fats). Those assigned to piece care were instructed to use national guidelines for advice on lifestyle and medical treatment. Patients in the all-out treatment group showed clinically significant reductions in blood pressure and cholesterol and miserly decreases in weight and blood sugar levels maintained over a five-year period. The differences were greatest in the reducing the endanger of heart attack and smallest in reducing the risk of stroke. There were no statistically significant differences between the two groups in rates of middle attack, stroke, cardiovascular deaths or revascularization, according to the story release enlargement. Experts noted that research presented at medical meetings is considered precedence because it has not been subjected to the rigorous scrutiny required for publication in a medical journal.

Denmark Vesey: Slave Revolt Leader
Author: Lillie J. Edwards
Review:
This entry in an established series covers the life of slave revolt leader Vesey. Because he was an epileptic, Vesey could not be sold, so he went to work for a slave-ship captain. Eventually, using funds derived from contract laboring and a lottery win, he purchased his freedom for $600. He worked as a carpenter, a position that enabled him to travel the countryside and see the living conditions of other blacks. So deeply was he affected by his travels that he considered emigrating to Africa, but decided to stay and fight for change instead. The course of action he chose was a bloody rebellion, but the plot was uncovered and he was hanged. A good introduction to the antislavery movement, this tells the story of one of the early slave heroes. The typical life of a slave is well described in terms that will be easily understood by the intended audience. Source

the price of freedom
Love to Denmark Vesey and Nat Turner, it was argued that Nat Turners insurrection was too violent as he included white women and children as enemies and slaughtered them just like slave masters. What I wonder is what is the price of freedom, to be mentally and physically enslaved is something I can only read about, they really lived it.
I can't imagine my mother or sister being the victims of rape or watching my father emasculated daily. Constantly reminding blacks that supposedly we were three fifths of a human
so no I don't think it was to much, they attacked us and  Nat Turner retaliated.
God Bless Him
