This is a stupid question but if Katsuki stepped on a landmine or something, would he blow up? Or is he just overall explosion proof to an extent?
Like I know he accidentally blew up his cheek a little bit cuz of a really big explosion a little too close to his face and I know an explosion blew up his heart and all that but I’m asking like is his skin basically explosion proof to smaller explosions? Like would a real grenade even phase him?
#I feel like deku would know#he probably hid in the bushes while Katsuki walked home from school and threw a grenade at him just to test it ajdbejdb#wait actually imagine he gets home and Masaru is like ‘bro wtf happened to your clothes?’#and Katsuki’s like ‘someone threw a fucking grenade at me down the block!’#and his dad is just like ‘that’s cool son’#and years later Deku’s telling people about how Katsuki’s grenade proof and Katsuki’s like ‘how did you— WAIT A DAMN MINUTE!’#Deku being unhinged is my favorite thing#bnha#bkdk#bakudeku#bakugou katsuki#high thoughts with puff

Y’all reading the newest chapter scans is like whiplash
I forgot how unhinged he can be, and tbh how much more unhinged he’s currently being.
Anyway Izuku is my favorite character so, sorry y’all, I know everyone is excited about Katsuki
However. Everyone else can talk about Katsuki. I live on my scraps.
Love how Shigaraki tries to get a dig at Izuku about Katsuki like how Monoma did when he unlocked blackwhip, so his immediate reaction is diverge diverge diverge.
Talk about repressed but this is a whole new level.
And his eye bags, they just make him look so exhausted.
I said this before but the chapter after Katsuki woke up Izuku looked relieved to me yes, but also… very scared. Very afraid of Katsuki’s well being.
Especially since, if we compare what Katsuki is doing now (using the pain as an extension of his quirk), you could EASILY COMPARE to when Izuku unlocked danger sense with shigaraki. How concerned and afraid Katsuki was in those chapters.
The thing is though, Katsuki was honest. He was honest that Izuku shouldn’t be doing this on his own, he’s being honest now—“I’m Kacchan of the Bakugou’s!”
He knows how he’s feeling and he’s letting himself feel it.
Somehow, Izuku still isn’t.
Hell, when afo ignores Katsuki, what he does is laugh about how much pain he’s in, but that it’s the key.
Let’s compare how Katsuki is using pain to how Izuku is using pain with danger sense. Let us not forget, danger sense is a physically taxing quirk, much like the rest of ofa. It causes a migraine when in any immediate danger.
Idk about y’all, but I get migraines so bad sometimes I vomit from the buildup of pressure. I can’t focus on anything. I just cant really imagine Izuku using danger sense that well in a fight… yet he does.
And, what exactly is danger sense for? To get out of danger? Maybe to avoid the danger? Ofa is an extension of Izuku’s inner turmoil, every single quirk exhibits this, and it would make so. Much. Sense. For danger sense to mimic his avoidance of emotions and vulnerability.
Katsuki’s quirk as it is now uses pain in a very odd way to me—he doesn’t try to use it to exit himself from the danger or pain, but actively searches for it. The pain is the key.
Danger sense is also a relatively self serving quirk, only really useable for himself. And for him to reference danger sense of all his quirks rn, it would make sense since…
Izuku has been self serving and avoidant since before even this fight. Hell, before even the war arc. Maybe this has gone on his entire life.
I want to hit him so bad for this y’all don’t GET IT.
And, just so we all know, he did this in 348 too. When confronted with emotional conversations, his first thought will always be “but how’s the fastest way I can win this fight?”
MY PROOF YALL IM SO DONE WITH THIS DUDE
“You see I have never once thought about hurting the people I care about like that!” Okay maybe be less boring
HM I WONDER WHY
THATS SO CRAZY DEKU
YOU TELL ME
WHY IS THE GIRL WHO YOU REJECTED AND THEN SAID THAT HER WAY OF LOVING IS SOMETHING YOU COULD NEVER DO TO OTHER PEOPLE (ALSO IMPLYING JUDGEMENT IN THIS STATEMENT), SAD RIGHT NOW?
LETS USE SOME COMMON SENSE PLEASE
I’m hyped for when Izuku is forced to be honest y’all don’t understand. It’s gonna be an angst fest and it’s gonna be romantic and I literally can’t see it not heading down the “explicitly canonical” path.
#is he really your favorite character if you don’t want to punch his jaw#bkdk#midoriya izuku#mha deku#bkdk brainrot#bakudeku#bakugou katsuki#bnha deku#mha analysis#deku midoriya#like I want to hit him so bad sometimes because he’s so smart and so dumb#I wish I could kick him in the gut#call him stupid#tell him what he has to start acting like#and then say I’m sorry bbg you’re so amazing and you could do no wrong#and I’d lie to him with a straight face#<3

Hi.... If you don't mind me asking, can I ask, what are your top 7 favorite media (can be books/ manga/ anime/movies/tv series) and your top 7 favorite ships (can be canon or non canon) from any media ? Why do you love them? Sorry if you've answered this questions before......
omg i've been wanting to answer a question like this for such a long time, thank you so much for asking! (you can always ask me about anything <3)
it's hard to talk about why i love these without giving a few spoilers, so i hope you don't mind that.
1. Jujutsu Kaisen & Sukuita
I first got into JJK because of Sukuna edits, but I started reading it more seriously when I fell in love with Yuuji (one of the best protagonists ever!) and got really invested in more of the other characters (Nobara, Mai and Maki, Nanami, Shoko, Yuki, Hiromi, and Uraume being my favorites <3) as the story went on.
Although I'm generally not interested in a lot of action manga, I fell hard for JJK because there were just so many good things about it. An anime protagonist that actually cares about saving other people but is still kind of unhinged and comparatively weaker than a lot of his peers? Bodily possession and an ancient god of chaos obsessed with the unworthy brat he's trapped inside of?? Scary monsters and scarier humans who fight them off???
But if I'm being really honest, my main reason for loving JJK is almost completely Sukuita.
These two are my #1 otp and I'm rabidly obsessed with them (almost as much as they're obsessed with each other). I could go on forever about why I adore this ship, but to keep it simple, it's really because they're one of the most dynamic and overlooked protagonist/antagonist relationships I've ever seen.
As a ship, they really have it all: enemies to lovers, hero x villain, bound by fate, bodily possession, virtually soulmates, matching each other's freak, yin and yang, toxic divorced couple/possessive exes energy, incest (if you're into that), and even opposites attract.
I see them as an inseparable matched set that share basically the same soul and see through each other but they'll never fully understand or accept each other, and it's beautifully heartbreaking in every way.
I first started shipping them when I read a lot of different ship fics with Sukuna, but the only one I ever really got invested in was Sukuita. My favorite ship trope of all is enemies to lovers, so I couldn't really resist them, and overtime I just fell deeper and deeper. Now I personally can't ship them with anyone but each other, but there are still so many more amazing ships to be found in this fandom, though a lot of my JJK otps (Nobamai, Makimai, Nanahito, and Gojoken) aren't very popular.
2. BNHA & Togachako
I'm not going to lie... I'm really not very invested in BNHA as a series, but I'm totally devoted to some of the characters, mainly Himiko Toga. I love kawaii yandere villains so much, and Toga is my favorite autistic bi disaster girl. I also love Dabi (one of my very first anime crushes), Ochaco, Bakugo, Deku, Shoto, Mirko, Eri, Overhaul, Mina Ashido, Kuin Hachisuka, Beros, and Twice.
Some of the quirks are really cool so I always love when they explore the different kinds both heroes and villains can have, and I love all the amazing fight scenes where heroes and villains get to go all out using their quirks, but my #1 reason for watching BNHA is for these two.
My top otp in BNHA is Togachako, of course, because I adore doomed yuri, especially the hero x villain kind, and I will never stop crying over how these two deserved so much better.
I shipped them almost as soon as they first interacted. The chemistry between them was beautiful and I love how Toga went all out with her yandere-style flirting with Ochaco, saying she had the same scent as her, that she wanted to be like her, from the very start understanding so much of Ochaco's character, her need to be heroic and save as many lives as she could, like Deku wanted to. Toga sees a lot of similarities between Ochaco and herself, and I love a villain that obsessively connects to the hero they're always at odds with.
I especially went crazy during that scene from season 6 where Toga had Ochaco pinned down and started crying out "What are you going to do to me? Are you going to kill me, too?" There was so much feeling and pain inside of that scene, Toga coming to terms with how heroes kill villains (like they did to Twice) even though they're human too, and knowing she could be next.
Yet later on we see how Ochaco accepted Toga despite all the things Toga had done. Because she understands that Toga is more than just another monster. All her childhood, Toga had been forced to suppress her own nature, but there Ochaco is... loving her not even despite it, but because she finds Toga herself, as the person she is, the cutest girl in the world. Just what Toga always wanted to be to someone, loved for her real self.
That just... really got to me.
My second main BNHA ship is Toyasho, or Dabisho.
They hit all the good tropes: hero x villain, twisted family, reconnecting, and lots and lots of angst. It fascinated me how they went on two different paths after experiencing abuse from their father: Dabi craving vengeance and resenting the world around him while Shoto largely isolated himself from others and tried to be indifferent about things. Dabi indulged in being ruthless, depraved, and even sadistic while Shoto tried to be "frozen" both inside and outside, yet he was learning to slowly open up to others and have hope for forgiveness.
They share a lot in common - being arrogant, getting overly emotional, wanting to do things alone, their way. But overall they have two different perspectives and Shoto considers Dabi to be his "cross to bear" since Dabi is his brother.
They still try to reconnect with each other in their own ways, especially at the end, where Dabi does regret a lot of what he did to Shoto and Shoto forgives him by asking what his favorite food is.
Togachako and Dabisho are my main otps for this fandom, but I also really like Shigadeku, Bakudeku, Meilissa, Saimomo, Togatsuyu, Momokendo, and Miruhawks because they have amazing chemistry as well!
3. The Locked Tomb & Griddlehark + Harryanthe
I first read Gideon the Ninth about a year ago and fell in love with it. The series reminds me of those weird sci-fi fantasy paperbacks that I would find packing the shelves of thrift stores and old book stores, but even better because of all the toxic lesbian angst and unhinged necromantic freaks who are the most unreliable narrators.
I like the writing style, the worldbuilding, the scientific feel to all the different necromantic theorems, the House politics, the beautifully complex characters, and the strange humor.
I love Griddlehark for all the angst, the enemies to lovers, the sad "you're the only friend I ever had so don't forget me, I'll even sacrifice my own life for you" from Gideon's side and the desperate "don't leave me, I'll erase all my memories of you because I can't bear to let you die" from Harrow's side. When we're first introduced to Harrow, from Gideon's POV, we think she's a heartless monster only concerned with herself. But soon we learn Harrow is weighed down heavily by her burden to handle all Ninth House affairs largely on her own and also by the nature of her very birth. Harrow has a deeply romantic and tragic side that Gideon is the first to discover, proving all her previous assumptions about Harrow wrong, and Gideon also proves herself to be more loyal, dedicated, and caring than Harrow thought she was. And even though they started out hating each other, they become each other's first true friends and can never let go of each other.
I also adore Ianthe's (mostly) one-sided obsession with Harrow, the way she acts like she just wants to manipulate Harrow and break her heart but unintentionally caught feelings for her along the way. They can't stand each other but they're forced to rely on one another and it's perfect, especially when Harrow (reluctantly) starts to feel somewhat close to Ianthe overtime. They're opposites in many ways, but they are both driven by their overwhelming sense of ambition and by their deep love/obsession for the people closest to their hearts (Harrow for Gideon and Ianthe for Coronabeth).
Harrow is my favorite, and I love her dynamic with both Gideon and Ianthe, so I can't choose between either ship. They're my ot3 really, since I also enjoy Gideon/Kiriona's interactions with Ianthe and how they sort of warm up to each other because of how they first "connect" over Harrow.
I have a lot more ships in this series too, namely Alectostasia, Pyrrha x Wake, Jarpedon, Augustine/Mercymorn/God, John x Alecto, Halecto, Corona x Judith, and Corona x Ianthe.
4 . The Summer Hikaru Died & Yoshikaru
I am a BIG fan of eldritch monsters developing codependent and destructive relationships with the mortals they become fascinated by, and this manga delivered that amazingly.
I've been following this story obsessively for about a few months but it's quickly becoming one of my most favorite manga ever. The dynamic between "Hikaru" and Yoshiki is perfect — the way Yoshiki can't really reject "Hikaru" because he craves the closeness he used to have with his friend but overtime he starts caring deeply for whatever "Hikaru" actually is.... Everything about them is so beautiful and tragic, it hurts physically but I love it.
The art is gorgeous and fits wonderfully with the summery horror atmosphere, and I like that's it set in the rural country, since I don't see as much of that in manga or anime as I would like to.
It has some elements of mystery, some of horror, lots of the paranormal, and plenty of chemistry between the mcs, all of which makes it so interesting and unique.
Yoshikaru is my main otp but I also love Asako/Yuuki, because they're so cute together.
5. Alien Stage & Mizisua
This series ruins me. The music, the story, the emotion. All of it makes me feel way too much.
The character designs for the humans are so good but I particularly like the aliens because I want to know more about their cultures and how they ended up imprisoning humanity.
One of the most central themes of this story is longing: the longing for freedom, the longing for love and friendship, the longing for something to put all your faith in even during the darkest times. And for Mizi and Sua, they put all that longing, that faith and hope, into each other.
Despite the fact that they know only one of them can survive that first round, they still sing almost every verse together because they refuse to give the other one the edge. They want each other to survive, even if it comes at the loss of their own life, but they were also hopeful that both of them could have tied. But Sua understood that this was unlikely and she chose to sacrifice herself to keep Mizi alive.
During the song Mizi narrates how humanity has forgotten gods and religion, but Mizi still believes in something that transcends all her suffering and longing, and that is Sua — her god, her universe. Even in the final moments of their round, as their fates are being sealed, Mizi looks over to Sua and smiles at her, because despite everything she's still happy to be with Sua, to sing with her and not against her, to find comfort even at the end. But she's still shocked and horrified when Sua dies, especially because of the fact Sua died to protect her.
And Mizi was never able to get over Sua's death. It's why she lost composure during her round with Luka, who relentlessly used her undying feelings for Sua against her by singing far too romantically.
Mizisua is my main otp in this fandom but I also love Ivantill, Hyuluka, and Hyunamizi.
6. Kakegurui & Yumedari
Even though it's arguably not as intelligent or coherent in its matches as I first thought it would be, I love pretty much everything else about this series, both the live action and the anime. The craziness, the color schemes, the focus on exaggerated body movements, even how thrilling the gambling scenes can be. Not to mention so many amazing characters and shipping possibilities, and my personal favorite ship of this series is Yumeko and Midari.
They get a lot of hate for being a toxic ship, which they are, but what exactly in Kakegurui is safe or sane in any way?? These two have such an interesting and compelling dynamic and from the start Midari is impressed and obsessed with Yumeko. And despite Yumeko's intolerance for Midari, they have a lot in common.
They're both compulsive gamblers who don't care about winning money or social status when they play. They're both addicted to the thrill, really skilled, impulsive, and quite smart too.
What made me start shipping them was, of course, their match during episode 7. The way Yumeko so expertly predicts Midari's moves to prevent an outcome where either of them are actually shot, how Midari comes to understand more of who Yumeko is through their game, the fact that Yumeko knew that Midari wanted her to win and was angry enough about it to deny the other girl that outcome. Yumeko despises cheating to "win" instead of fully indulging in the thrill of the uncertainty, which is what she lives for, and if Midari had maybe not resorted to cheating, I think Yumeko would have more respect and even enjoyment for playing with Midari.
What also really interests me is how polar Yumeko's actions are with Midari. She screams that she hates Midari, she finds her pathetic, she can't stand to be around her. Yet she has this almost soft moment with Midari before they begin playing, if only to keep the other girl from harming Ryota.
Yumeko also grows more tolerant of Midari as the show goes on, but it's by no means warm or loving in any way. And I think that's what I like about them. They're so alike but will never fully "fit together" because of it. It will always end up with either Midari wanting Yumeko to be the one to cause her pain or death, while Yumeko hates any kind of predictable outcome or rigging of the game.
I also have a lot of other ships in this fandom, mainly Yumary, Kirisaya, Meariri, Ayadari, Riridari, Naodari, Ririsaya, and Yumemika.
7. Monster & Tenjoh
I don't even know where to start on this one, really.
I've known about the existence of this series for a while and even tried to start it, but all I could could get into initially was edits of Johan Liebert. I kept meaning to pick it up eventually, since I'd heard that it was one of the most popular seinen manga and that Johan was also one of the best manga/anime villains.
But only recently I have I started watching this series, and I don't know why I didn't sooner.
I cannot describe everything I love about this series without writing a whole other post, but to put it simply - it's extremely well-done and very thought-provoking. And as someone deeply interested in psychology and criminology, I found this to be a brilliant exploration of both. The characters are so well-developed, especially the twins and Tenma (who is honestly one of the most underrated protagonists I have seen) and though I was first off-put by the older animation style, I have actually come to like it a lot since it's very unique and suits the setting and atmosphere perfectly.
There are so many different layers and themes that I will never tire of trying to analyze them all, and there's especially a certain thrill to watching how all the pieces of the puzzle connect together, especially when we get an understanding of how Johan perfectly manipulates others so that they essentially follow the designs of their own downfall.
But one of the very few people to resist Johan's plots and to even come close to destroying him is Tenma.
Tenjoh is so fascinating, both as a ship and only as their canon interaction, because of how deeply personal and complex their relationship is.
Tenma saved Johan's life years ago, a choice that essentially ended his career for him and led to his life being significantly altered. When Johan returns, revealing himself to be the person responsible for so many deaths, Tenma feels guilty for "creating" the monster that Johan became. However, even though Johan kills everyone who knows about him, he spares Tenma as both a sign of respect for the doctor saving his life and because he wants to drive Tenma to kill him, therefore proving Tenma's ideals that every life has value wrong.
Not only is there something darkly poetic in Johan wanting the doctor who brought him back from the brink of death to be the one to kill him, it's also just as suiting that Tenma at first wants to be the one to kill Johan, feeling it was his burden to end the monster he'd "revived." But despite many opportunities given to him, even by Johan himself, to kill the evil mastermind, Tenma still couldn't do it.
I have so many thoughts on them and would love to write a meta about it someday, but all I can really say for now is they're quickly becoming one of my top ships ever.

Anybody been noticing the evolution of Deku's overall aesthetic? Like in terms of heroic aesthetic. Each hero generally has their own aesthetic. All Might had a Superman-esque aesthetic. Not exactly Superman, but the closest thing imaginable. All Might always tried to inspire hope. He always did that on purpose.
Endeavor later learned how to replicate All Might's hope aesthetic, but his is more centered around "Hope for Victory" in contrast to All Might's "Hope for Peace"
Notice Endeavor constantly looks like he's chock full of pride? I'd almost give post-"Holy shit I'm a terrible father" Endeavor a Vegeta-esque vibe.
Stars and Stripes is somehow a combination of both
Horikoshi loves to play with aesthetics. One of my favorites being Shigaraki.
Beginning Shiggy: Obviously looks like a villain, thought he was going to shoot a dog.
War Shiggy: Elegant. Almost like Nana Shimura. If I never read BNHA, I thought he would've been a hero
But my point is, Deku's design and aesthetic has been reflective of his arc throughout the series.
Deku Mk I: green, doesn't know what he's doing. Has no realist ideals. Simply an idealist.
Notice how frail he looks despite the fact we KNOW he's built like a triple decker bus. It's supposed to represent how out of his element he is.
Deku Mk II: More experienced, learning from his mistakes. He's becoming a more traditional member of hero society.
You can tell by the more thick look of the suit that Deku is beginning to look more competent, but you can tell that he's uncomfortable with this. Ignoring the fact that Deku canonically didn't like the mods to his mom's suit, you can tell he isn't comfortable yet.
Deku Mk III: Finally used to his own self. He has become the pinnacle of traditional hero society
This is a Deku that visually looks more complete. Deku MK II had too many loose lines. His gloves rising up to his bicep makes him easier to look at. He looks less confusing to look at. This is a Deku that made his first real independent step. He went from punching to kicking. Notice this is the costume Deku uses in his first official villain fight.
Infinite Deku
Right here we get Deku's first legit "All Might" moment. Where visually he looks like a symbol of hope
I used a still from the anime here because the colors and poses pop more in the anime than in the manga. This is a Deku that if I didn't know who he was I'd assume he's the main character
Deku MK IV: Same general deal as Deku MK III
The Air Force gloves eventually help him become more of a visual vesself for the OFA users, and that's the most significant visual difference. This is a Deku that looks like a good, fine, member of hero society, but he doesn't look like symbol of peace material. He just looks like a strong background character
Vigilante Deku: Basically a villain. Crap your pants terrifying. Beaten, broken. But, he looks the most like a hero. Granted, in the way Batman looks like a hero. But he looks like his true hero. All he had to do was reject traditional notions of hero society
notice how Deku is slowly looking more and more unhinged throughout the vigilante arc
Isolating himself and acting like a "true hero" is driving Deku insane. So while his vigilante era is the most akin to traditional comic book heroes, he can't maintain that.
Final Deku: An amalgamation of Mk IV and Vigilante
Aesthetically speaking this is Deku one step before he becomes the symbol of peace. Sure, his costume isn't super visually distinct, but, Horikoshi makes up for that with how he's posing and framing Deku. I have a feeling that Deku is going to get one more redesign. But as of right now, this is a Deku that looks closest to a Symbol of Peace. He can still be unhinged like Vigilante, but can look just as heroic as Infinite.
Thanks for listening to my ramble

*Huge Rant Incoming*
Hi Mermie :> How are you? With all the asks you have already answered regarding MHA, I hope this is not too annoying. I just need to be irritating about this for a bit cuz I have been grabbing all my frnds to vent to them about MHA and the ending. It's my coping method TvT
Regarding the ending I think, I was a lil disappointed. There are so many opinions floating around but in general I do agree with the fact that most of the problems arise because the plotlines that had so much buildup weren't really ended in a satisfying or logical manner and it didn't really feel like an ending that upheld the messages of the anime. Which is crazy to me because this is one of the few cases where even if the anime ended in that "Wow! Happy Ending! Everyone and Everything is fine and we all became the greatest heroes", it would still fit because my hero always gave me that vibe of, "Oh! You can also be a hero! Go Beyond! Plus Ultra!", and it still SOMEHOW never felt patronizing or corny even though I usually hate shit like that. I was so flabbergasted when I actually felt motivated to do better when I first saw MHA because the show is so OBVIOUS in it's messages and metaphors. MHA is not a subtle show but it still somehow WORKS?!
No matter what the ending was there would always be someone who is disappointed; especially for a fandom as huge as this. It can also not be overlooked that due to the insane and frankly inhumane workload, Horikoshi obviously had to cut corners and the time needed to really flesh out all the ideas he had; but I still can't help but feel frustrated with how things ended. So many of our favorite animes and stories have to suffer because of this and I would rather wait 2 years to get a better and well rounded ending than for it to be rushed like this :/
Regardless of all the commotion, I still think that for all the things MHA did wrong, it also managed to do a lot of things right. Does the show suffer from not giving female leads fulfilling plots even when they have amazing powers and personalities? Yes. Does the show fall short in committing to give long term consequences to it's characters? Also yes. But at the end of it I really think MHA's biggest strength lies in it's character writing. I HATED Bakugo's guts the whole first season really, but he ended up being one of, if not the MOST heroic characters in the show. I really love all of the characters and the things they stand for. Even if LoV was a run-of-the-mill typical villain group, I loved all of them too and was really invested in ALL of their storylines. Deku is also such an amazing MC with so much potential even out of the show. He is relatable, sweet, heroic but also COMPLETELY UNHINGED. lol. I cannot name one character that I "hate" in MHA (except AFO, he can go jump in an acid pool for all I care). So it was really disappointing to see their arcs (especially the villains, and ESPECIALLY SHIGARAKI) end like that, ;-;
But even after all this I really, for the life of me cannot hate this show. It is one of the only Animes that I watched alongside the fandom, otherwise I usually wait for them to end so I can binge it altogether. Shouto was one of- if not my first anime blorbo <3 I still remember how ABSOLUTELY SMITTEN I was (still am unfortunately) back then. He remained my uncontested fave for a long LONG time. Even with all the toxic shit the MHA fandom is up to at times, it's still one of the most fun experiences I have had in a fandom. I have met some of my favorite fanfic writers because of this show, found so many amazing artists and have constantly been bamboozled by how talented the ppl in this space were. I have made a lot of steadfast frnds because of this show. My bff (a devoted bakugirlie) and I would spend hours coming up with hcs, talking about character analysis and coming up with all different theories for the show. Those were some good times :D
It might not be the best ending but MHA is a good show. The journey to get here was one I will never forget <3
Lmao, you’re always welcome to rant, Castle. 🥹 I’m always happy to talk about the ending, I have a lot of thoughts about it!!! But okay let’s have a chinwag. I’m curious—if you could talk through your ideal ending, what would it be? Because I quite liked the ending Hori’s given us, even with my attachment to Deku being a hero via OFA lmfaoooo. I think yeah, Hori rushed things to the end, but I don’t believe things would’ve played out any differently if he’d given himself like, another year or whatever. I think he’s had this ending in mind for a while now, and I don’t think anything could have talked him into like… sticking around to tell it longer. 🥺
I do think the difference (with my liking the ending) is that I’ve never been invested in a Happy Ending for the villains LMFAO. I’m so sorry. 😭 I like them—I love them—as characters in the story, but I am not a stan in the way that like… I’d go out of my way to write a fic for them, or buy their merch, you know? And I think the main reason for that (for me) is like, how very clearly marked for messy ends they were, like, right from the start LMAO. It sucks ass that they were neglected/actively abused/earmarked for some insane world domination plan, and it sucks ass that for them help never came, or was offered too late—but they’re villains LOL. Most of them make active choices in their adulthoods to be shitheads. 🥹 And we could argue until the cows come home about whether or not you’re really making a choice, if all you’ve known is abuse/neglect/doomsday grooming, but tbh, in a world where people can have devastating and destructive powers that they can then turn on other people, I kind of think it’s a moot point. 💀 Like—it doesn’t matter how sad it is that Shigaraki was left to wander the streets as a tiny kid, shellshocked and idk, covered in the remains of his family—by the end of the manga, he was literally at the point where if he had escaped Deku's clutches one more time, he would've dusted the entire country. The boy had to go, LOL. Ship him off to the afterlife by express post!!
There’s a great discussion in there about the cycle of abuse, and what we (as a society) owe the victims of it, and how Horikoshi absolutely has thing about like, retconning his abusers to either like, try and undo some of the severity of what they’ve done (Endeavour, Bakugou to some extent) or give them moments of sympathy (Shiggy’s dad, when he’s gushing about his baby boy to AFO), but the thing that MHA makes very explicit by the end is that like—sometimes things suck, and sometimes you can’t save people from the damage that gets dealt to them, but you can stop them from dealing more damage out to others, and perpetuating the cycle.
(This is a bit of an aside, but my favourite thing about the villains is that they were genuinely dangerous people. We as a fandom have the gift of like—seeing their hurt, their tragedy, for what it is. We see the neglected, abused, lonely children they were. The cruelties and the misunderstandings. But the people of the MHA world don't get that magical ability. Instead they get to see one of their classmates—who was chill and normal and fun—suddenly attack a boy just to drink his blood bc she’s like, obsessed with him. They see a young man walking around with decaying hands clinging to him, and turning people to dust. They see a homeless psycho set the people they care about on fire in a roar of blue flame. You can't demand change—or pretend to, for some of them—while actively making your world a worse place. And that’s what makes them compelling, to me. I like that AFO is just—wretched, LOL. That he literally just comes out of the womb and was like ok, I’m going to ruin lives and make it generational. 💀)
Would you change their endings, if you could? 🥺 I think if I could change one thing it’d be… Bakugou dying, LOL. Like I’d either a) make it permanent b) make it cost more to bring him back. 😌 (This is why it’s a good thing Hori’s the one that wrote MHA lmfaooooo. 🥹) Actually, new question: even with your disappointment, is there anything about the ending that makes you feel a little more hopeful? 🥺 You mention how much the fandom means to you—is your love for it seperate to your enjoyment of the series? The ending made me happy—Izuku, finally getting to live his dream because his friends loved him so much. 🥹 And also after a moment or two I grew really attached to him as a teacher!!! He’s so perfect for it. 🥺 I know his students just love him. I think Horikoshi created some really lasting, powerful characters andddd… ultimately I trust in their lasting appeal. Theirs, and the story’s, overall. 😌
#ofmermaidstories-asks#i veered off into a tangent there im sorry castle lmaooooo#are you missing andie? 🥹 i bet she has some great opinions about the ending if she ever returns from war#mha spoilers#bnha spoilers

I have been given free reign to be unhinged and I apologize for the college essay I'm about to drop.
(I noticed your comment about the Final War arc and will try to be as spoiler free as possible as it is unfortunately required.)
Brining back my TL;DR: Neito Monoma is a weirdly complex character that is a decent character when you peel back the bastard coating. While yes, him being an asshole is a major part of his character, that isn't all he is.
I'm gonna break this down into digestible blocks using examples from the main series, the light novels, Team Up Missions, and the mobile game starting with...
Class A vs Class B
You literally cannot mention him without talking about his severe rivalry with Class A. Its the thing he's known for the best. The real crazy part is, he's kinda got a valid reason for it.
To put it into his perspective: You get into the most prestigious hero school of the country, you meet your classmates and learn they're talented and very friendly people. After about a month passes, you suddenly hear about how the other hero class was attacked during practice by villains. For a moment, you're shocked cause, holy hell that could have been your class, but everyone's fine and more importantly, it's time for the sports festival! One of the most important events of your life because its the start of your hero career; your chance to network and make a name for yourself! But there's a problem....
No one will stop talking about that other class. "What's going on with Class A?" "I heard they fought villains despite being first years!" "Did you hear one of them might be the son of Endevor?" "I'm only interested on that first year class that fought villains already!" No one has given your class a chance before they can even show they're just as good. To make matters worse, the key speaker of Class A is a cocky asshole. Just because they just so HAPPENED to be in the right place at the wrong time, a theme that continues for the entire series honestly. You've been written off before you can get a chance and more importantly, so has your class. You know how strong and talented these people are, its not fair they're also being snubbed for people the series proceeds to show are just as talented.
The thing that makes Monoma the most validated is the fact that he's, in a roundabout way, right. Guranteed, his biggest argument is Class B is better, but he's right about how Class B is just as good. The Joint Training arc is one of my favorites due to it proving this correct with how both classes are strong, just in different areas. Class A having to deal with being the protagonist class are used to constant attacks and threats to their lives so they're more used to having to work on the fly and keep their guards up for any and all attacks. However, because of the these constant attacks, they've never had time to sit down and work on their skills, strengthen their quirks, and learn how to work together with their classmates. Bakugo barely knows his groups names and Deku freaking learns there's more to OFA mid battle! Class B is left with the opposite effect. They've had more than enough time to bond and learn more about each other to learn the best strategies using each others quirks to max advantage as well as had the time to strengthen their quirks to a point Class A doesn't know what they do anymore. And yet, they spend next to no time actually on the field. Hell, when work studies are mentioned, there's zero sight of Class B. The biggest battles we even see Class B in are the Jaku/Meta Liberation arc and the Final War. Class B may have the skills, but they don't have the practicality.
To make matters worse, the fandom of all things proves him right as well. The sheer amount of times I've seen someone say, "Why is __ in Class A when ___ are better?" I've even seen it with Monoma himself! Class A is not once stated to be formed by talent. The entrance exams even prove this.
There's 4 students in the top 10 from Class B. Never is it stated that Class A was formed by skill. It's the equivalent of me and a friend being in the same art class, but my class is the period before my friends. I'm not learning more or becoming a better artist because my class is before theirs. Monoma's hate for Class A isn't even rooted in skill as he HATES to admit there are students that are genuinely talented (one of the only times he complements Class A genuinely is during Uraraka vs Bakugo when he was the only person to see Uraraka's strategy) The hate comes from a more passionate source.
Class B's #1 Fan
This kid just fucking loves his class. Based on his backstory alone, its easy to assume that Monoma more than likely didn't have many friends growing up (who the hell would tell their quirk is for a side kick?) Class B being unbiased and unique their selves must be a major boost to one severely damaged psyche.
In the mobile game Ultra Impact, Monoma's character story has him cheerfully explaining to Shinso post JT arc about how he'll fit in perfectly with Class B as the class is nothing short of friendly.
Monoma's best trait can be easily described as his love and admiration for his class as there isn't a moment where he isn't cheering them on or giving them a pep talk. During the JT arc, he can immediately point out where the teams failed but in a way that helps them understand and learn from it (i.e: Group 1 putting the defense heavy Ibara front and center made her an easy target.) and immediately cheers up a sad Tokage when her team instantly lost to the "Suddenly went through a character arc" Bakugo. In volume 5, chapter 5 of the light novels (this will be like 95% of my examples as this chapter best captures the entire scope of Monoma's character) when the group is in the middle of a search and rescue mission (that was Monoma's fault) he immediately notices when Kaibara started to get frost bite.
Monoma cares deeply about his classmates as he wants them to succeed as they deserve, to quote, as they are the protagonists of their own lives. So much so that during a class exercise, his team up with Yanagi is the only team that passes the practice. When the class praises the two for their strategy, to which Monoma immediately pushes the praise back to the class since it was their quirks that technically won the exercise.
Class B does accept their weird and eccentric classmate as even though they wish he would just stop brining him into his clown routine.
"Okay but why is he like THAT?" Well....
Behind the Mask (Get it?....ya know??.....cause he's a Phantom Thief??? PERSONA 5 REF-)
As if antagonizing the other class at the worst possible times (no seriously, why does he only reappear after a major life event in Class A's life? The USJ Incident, finals, the summer camp, the Overhaul arc..) wasn't a big enough problem, Monoma has one major character flaw that is unfortunately his biggest; he sucks at expressing his emotions.
Monoma's langue is blunt and to the point, which is a problem when you're trying to get a point across. There's a diffrence between explaining that someone's talents are not best suited to brave a blizzard and just saying they're useless.
(Context: LN 5, Chapter 5 is about Class A and B having a hot pot party that goes wrong after the classes get poisoned by accident and the people who didn't get poisoned have to go out into a blizzard for the antidote. This as well as Class B's play would have killed as OVA's.)
Yes, Monoma was right by noticing that Kaminari could not contribute much to the rescue effort, as the team of Ojiro, Aoyama, Kaibara, Komori, and himself, with Todoroki and Tsuburaba's quirks (Sero's too technically but that was to help with the poisoning victims) was effective for braving a blizzard, but Kaminari's electricity would not have much of a use. But he could have said why instead of just calling him useless. Monoma's inability to communicate comes back later in the chapter after he sets his sleeve on fire while using Todoroki's quirk.
This small backhanded comment is enough for Kaminari to begin seeing Monoma in a different light. Part of this is due to his reaction upon being told the mass poisoning was his fault. (Which its worth noting, was genuinely an accident. They were doing a Yamainabe [when you throw random shit into a hot pot and try to guess what it is with your eyes closed.] and he thought Komori brought more nasty mushrooms and threw them in and didn't know they were actually some poisonous quirk mushrooms.)
Monoma showing his true side continues from the sauna scene onwards as he shows genuine concern for the Class B boys that drop out of the endurance challenge but ultimately shows some of his vulnerable side when making a plea with the two classes.
It's in this moment of transparent desperation that Monoma shows a side of him unseen. Dropping a statement that not only resonates with Kaminari, but me as well. Nothing hurts more than genuinely trying your best, but then having something like grades show that your best wasn't good enough. Passing the class but failing the test, ya know? It's this small moment of vulnerability that allows Kaminari to see him in a different light and find camaraderie with him as they're basically similar people. (They're also both my favorites hilariously.) Monoma may be looking for a fellow scapegoat, but Kaminari genuinely can see them being friends if given the time. It's also in Monoma's moment of transparency, the two classes finally witness a damn near unheard of moment of connection between Monoma and a member of Class A that they say screw it and agree to lie for him cause you gotta take whatever victory you can get.
Monoma's lack of proper expression can also have roots in his turbulent past with other people. Growing up being told your quirk is only good for side kick work (I will touch on this in a minute.) can absolutely distort your willingness to be yourself around other people. Team Up Missions touches on this in a hilarious way as Monoma basically breaks down every instance of Class A being nice towards him.
It gets worse when during one of Monoma's signature rants, Iida taking the advice of All Might and tries to genuinely understand where he's coming from (In which Monoma is also taking All Might's advice to have well written proof for your point of view. He should have just let Present Mic tell them both to "Settle it with a rap battle!" Please read Team Up Missions.) and accidentally sees Monoma's rants to be....a cry for help. So Iida, having a heart of gold, tells the rest of Class A that Monoma is being abused and its up to them to help him. So you can imagine his reaction when suddenly, in the middle of his rant of how shoddy Class A is, they start giving him tea, freshly made snacks, and a bunny petting session. Cause we're here for you if you need anything.
So he does what any other "well settled" person does when the people you antagonize for sport suddenly treat you nicely and has a mental breakdown so severe he just shuts down.
What the hell happened in this kids life that people being nice to you can break you?
"That's the quirk of a side kick, a bit player..."
The biggest, most important, and vital aspect as to why the sudden 180 on Monoma as a character is the reveal that he's, a pretty depressed character. Yeah, he's easily the loudest and most showboaty character out of all of them, but the JT arc and the Final War arc decided to put the Class A rivalry, the hero work, and school to the side to give Monoma a chance to be himself. No filter.
And what we get is, nothing like the character we've been seeing. All the cocky bravado, gone. The large hysterical smiles are non existent for a more somber and melancholy grin. In the Joint Training arc, he revels to Shinso that he finds friendship in Shinso due to their similar childhoods. Shinso, as we know, was told his frankly overpowered quirk was not one built for hero work since Mind Control is a bit of an extreme quirk (Okay but its also perfect for hero work?? Literally the man to go to for shit like hostage situations.) Monoma reveals that as a kid, he was told his quirk wouldn't be suited for ProHero work, just as a Side Kick. Due to how Copy works, even with knowledge on its limits, there is room to understand why this statement exists. But it isn't fair to also say that the kids were right, I mean hell, that's the entire point of this franchise. If Deku had just given up when he got his quirkless diagnosis, he wouldn't have gone on to be the hero he did become. Shinso also noticed the absurdity in the statements he received and was also driven to do his damnedest to be one hell of a hero and managed to get approved to transfer into the hero course on skills and ambition alone. So duh, Monoma would also shove those words aside and do his best to be one hell of a hero......right?
If anything, he took it to heart. The first instance of him quoting the, "You'll never be a superhero with that quirk." is easy to miss as its mostly just him connecting with Shinso on their similar childhoods. The second time however, comes just after he's been told he'll be given a major role in the final battle (again, I'm gonna try to skirt around final arc spoilers.) The second instance come off more melancholy due to this being his reaction to being told the very fate of the world has just been slapped onto his shoulders.
Where you would expect him to proudly boast a job well done he instead reasonably is lost as to why they want him to do it. This is the same kid who can't pass his finals, the same who had a solid plan for the sports festival and screwed it up with his ego, and the same kid who ultimately, believes he can't achieve the dream he wants due to what he was given. He outright states that his relationship with Copy isn't one of distain, it's more one of acceptance that you're ultimately going to have to do what you can to make it work to your advantage.
In my option, one of the major reasons why Monoma is widely disliked (OR AT LEAST I THOUGHT, MOTHERFUCKER IS 12TH IN THE GLOBAL POPULARITY POLL. WHAT?? HUH??) is due to his morally grey nature. Let's be honest, people have lost the plot to enjoying media. Villains are not to be liked and character flaws can only go as far as saying a bad word, so of course Black and White Morality has been made the straight down the middle standard. Grey characters are suddenly either a complete asshole or the purest character on earth and come on, how goddamn boring is that??? Now it might be because I'm fucking ancient (See: 30 years old) but come one, where's the fun of a character that is either strictly good or pure evil? It's where many like myself find joy in Monoma. Yeah he's an asshole but he's got the ambition and heart to be a damn good hero. Sure he can't read the room to save his life, but he can also address when the situation calls for something more serious. Talking shit about Bakugo to checking that Shinso is safe when Black Whip manifests; riding the biggest ego boost of his life to immediately snapping back into work mode when ordered. Just deeming him down to just the asshole part removes the flavor he has by being dynamic on morals, especially in a series that has SO GODDAMN MANY morally grey characters. Hawks is one of the best examples for his actions during the Jaku/Meta Liberation arc; killing a man he honestly considered a friend due to their overpowered quirk. He didn't want to kill them, he even pleaded with them to just come into police custody, but when forced to make a choice, made the hardest one.
"In order to become heroes, we sometimes have to do things unbecoming of heroes. Otherwise, we'd be no match for those with the power to "do anything." To be a hero is to sometimes accept you need to be unheroic. Killing a man you cared for for the sake of the world to openly antagonizing the other class to gain some form of advantage in a battle you know you have the losing hand in (yeah, i know, shit example but c'mon. i've been typing for hours, bear with me.) Monoma openly acknowledges his faults but accepts that they are something he has to work with if he wants to be able to do anything. Based on how he preforms during the final war and his subsequent ending, we can see he knew what to do in the end.
God's Perfect Idiot
"Okay Shiro, are you done with this yet? What's your point other than, 'Monoma good.'
I'm gonna give it to you strait, if the 10 pages I typed convince you, then let the fact this kid is the biggest dweb and loser convince you. He's so goddamn lame its unreal.
Look me in the eyes and tell me this loser is meant to be hated. He's so unserious, it's like owning a dog. HE thinks he looks cool and acts cool but then here he is acting in "Romeo and Juliet and the Return of the Prisoner King of Azkabum" that he wrote! Its literally Romeo and Juliet, Lord of the Rings, and somehow Star Wars?? I'm not a huge fan of most designated comic reliefs in anime Lookin at your ass Mineta as they tend to be one note or straight up sexual predetors. Monoma somehow manages to be a comic relief and well rounded character that the consensus of, "I don't like him but he is funny." is an acceptable statement. The worst part? He's stupidly talented!
His academics is the only thing that he's confirmed terrible at. He scored lower than Kaminari on the written final for All Might's sake! But as said earlier, that's almost a blip on Monoma's talents. In the light novels, he's revealed to be adept at interior design as a bet with Kaminari and the others results in his win as it is collectively agreed that his room is cute (i hit the image limit lol but his room is described as being pastel with white antique European furniture and so Parisian that they expected to see the Eiffel Tower outside his window.) In the afformentioned hot pot party, Monoma's hot pots not only win by a large majority, Bakugo, who had a kimchi hot pot he made, didn't even vote for his own dish.
Even though realisticly that play should be, terrible, Monoma's acting manages to steal the hearts of the public, (by giving one hell of a romantic monologue as Romeo) but even is able to keep the play afloat by using his lethal improve skills, (it starts with the prop swords being broken, escalates to them losing the prop ring they needed for a scene and decided to use a piece of fishcake instead, the fishcake was expired as Monoma points out the smell and its a shame they didn't notice sooner since Tetsutetsu gives himself food poisoning by eating it, swapping Tetsu mid speech resulting in the plot going full Star War with "I'm your real father and Juliet's your sister" much to Monoma's no longer hidden distress, and finishing with the prop dragon falling and knocking Monoma out. When he said Class B's play won over Class A's musical, I believe him.)
This isn't even with bringing EVERYTHING about Copy into play! The way Copy works, he's forced to learn and improve on the fly while also trying to keep it secret as to maintain the advantage. The fact he even thought ahead to make sure there's a red herring about his quirk using his hero costume. By only having 3 timers, its easy to assume he can only have 3 quirks at a time. By saying the timers only go for 5 minutes, you can also lie and say its actually 3 minute, its actually 20 minutes (okay but seriously, what is the actual time limit? I remember it being stated to be 10 minutes by the Joint Training arc but Aizawa during the Final War said it's still 5?) Copy is busted on its own but in the hands of a sociopath that can improve like hell? It's damn good this kid wants to be a hero so bad cause he would have been a lethal villan!
So why do I like Monoma enough to type all of this with proof like a madman who just witnessed the horrors? Because he's earned it. I can say I like Kaminari cause he's funny. I've seen people compare this kid to the second coming of All for One and it's unjust as there's a good character and a good kid in there, you gotta give him a chance.
Guys genuinely asking and this is not meant to hate- but how and why is Monoma so popular???
Aside from him appearing time to time making fun of Class 1-A, his main-character complex, and his parts in battles and the war, I don't recall him being a character with a bigger impact or part in the series' plot or themes???
#HOLY SHIT THIS IS LONG#i need chronic help lol#rarely do i get the chance to go balls to the wall on something im passionate about#i fear the day im asked to explain daichi or limbus#if this is me just writing about a monoma#hes a good kid i swear#bnha#my hands hurt so bad lol#make sure to sit down for this one

Idk if you're taking requests but I just read the deku having a crush on his wife and it was so cute. If possible can I request one of shoto??? Ty!!
men being their wife's #1 supporter >>>>> Warnings: fem reader, shoto’s a little feral Word Count: 1 K ~~~
The interviewer holds a stack of question cards, eyes skimming the first one before looking up at Shoto, “So, the story is that you, apparently, are a newlywed?”
“Yes, and it’s the happiest time of my life - don’t say it’s the honeymoon phase,” Shoto looks over at the camera, “I plan on only growing more unhinged in my love for my wife as the years go.”
“Well, we look forward to that!” the man chuckles.
.
.
.
“Uh, babe?” you turn to where your husband sits beside you on the couch, his arm thrown over your shoulders, “Did you ever see the title of the video for that interview you did?”
“No,” he switches his gaze from the TV to you, “why?”
“Oh, nothing,” you grin before shoving your phone in his face to show off the video, “Just this.”
Shoto’s eyes scan the title - “Prohero Shoto Shows Off Massive Crush on Wife”.
He merely nods, “Sounds about right. It was that same guy from a few years ago, when we first got married.”
“Can I watch it? I think I should know what was said about me.”
“As if I would say no,” he pressed a kiss to your forehead before standing, “Put it on the TV, I’ll make tea.”
Once Shoto comes back to his favorite spot on the couch, beside you, you hit play and after the intro is a shot of the interviewer sat across from your husband. He grins as he introduces Shoto to the camera, as if people wouldn’t already know who the hero was.
“I think just right off the bat, I have to ask,” the man’s grin is cheesy, but it conveys enough joy to keep the energy up, “what’s ridiculous to you about the media? And since your father hated interviews, do you think you’ve gotten any of that from him?”
“Interviews are fine. People are just doing their jobs, I get that,” he presses his lips into a thin line as he thinks, “What’s strange to me about the media, however, is actually a specific moment.”
“Oh? And what is that?”
“There was this one gala that I took my wife to a few months ago and everyone was obsessing over her look,” he nods curtly, “as they should have. But what was weird was how everyone was just now paying attention to her. It was like… like watching a piece of art go unnoticed.”
“Like the Mona Lisa?”
“No, like actual art.”
The chuckle bubbling from the man’s lips is genuine as he says, “I see. Well- “
“And I remember for our wedding she was tired of trying on things and said she was going to wear sweatpants,” he shakes his head, “I- I could only ask what color so it’d match with my tie. You know?”
“I imagine,” he nods.
“And on our wedding day,” Shoto puts up a finger to stop the interviewer before he can even begin speaking, “we had a private, not really dinner, but a moment, before the reception. And we just kept calling each other by first and last name, because she was taking my last name and it was,” he tilts his head, “I don’t think I’ve ever been happier. And I do have a lovely mother and great siblings and friends, but truly they do not compare.”
“Well, speaking of your wife being so pretty to you- “
“I’ll reach over there and wrangle you if you don’t correct that.”
“Well, speaking of your wife being so pretty,” Shoto nods, muttering a quiet ‘good’ under his breath as the interviewer continues, “I’d like to bring up a recent ‘scandal’ for lack of a better term.”
“Is this about the ‘damn mommy’ incident,” Shoto wrings his hands together nervously.
The man can’t help but laugh as he nods, “It is. What’s the story behind that?”
“I sneezed and accidentally commented ‘damn mommy’ on my wife’s post,” Shoto crosses his arms and leans back in the chair, “Freak accident.”
“According to my research,” the man shakes his head now, “it was on every single one of her posts.”
“I had the flu.”
“Understandable,” the man flips to a card, “we have a few questions from fans. First of all, what would you say is the strangest thing that you own?”
“Strangest thing I own,” Shoto taps the armrest of the chair, “sometimes I have to leave for long periods of time for work and I’m very clingy, obviously, and so my wife surprised me with a teddy bear. But the teddy bear actually has her voice in it and it’s her saying she loves me. It’s the most incredible thing ever. I’d say that everyone should get one, but I don’t think they deserve it. At all.”
“I see. Well, another question that we have for you is what’s your favorite phrase or a phrase that interests you?”
“One time my wife was on the phone with me while I was away for work and she was telling me that ‘wish you were here’ in Persian is…” he pauses to mutter under his breath, “is jāy-e shomā khālīst,” he looks at the camera, “apologies for poor pronunciation, but it apparently translates to ‘your place is empty’. And I’ve never forgotten it because it felt so true.”
“Right, of course,” the man flips to another card, “And just to finish it off, what was a big moment of pain in your life that you had to overcome?”
“One time I asked my wife if she still would’ve married me if I was a worm and she said that she didn’t think it was even legal, so she couldn’t. I honestly still don’t think I’m even over that.”
~
Turning away from the video, you look at Shoto, “Aw, baby. I’m sorry about the worm thing.”
“No, no, dear,” he leans over to kiss your forehead, “I’m not mad. I could never be mad at you over something like that.”
“Well, that’s good,” you take his chin in your hand to tilt his head and press a kiss to his lips, “I love you.”
“I love you, too,” he brings you closer to his side.
“Yeah, I think that everyone who watched this knows that, but thank you. You’re such a good husband.”
“Only the best for my incredible wife.”

BnHA Chapter 324: Is There a Force Field Around Him??
Previously on BnHA: Flashback!Rat Principal was all “please tell Midoriya that I spent a concerningly small amount of money upgrading U.A. into a wacky physics-defying funtime grid so as to make the final battle much more confusing for everyone.” Present Day!Mic (or Present!Mic, if you will) and Jeanist were all “if only somebody could deescalate this dangerously unhinged mob, we’ve tried nothing and we’re all out of ideas.” Ochako was all “LISTEN UP PEOPLE.” The mob was all, “god??” Ochako was all, “NO, IT’S ME, OCHAKO. I’M REALLY HIGH UP ON THIS BUILDING AND THE VISIBILITY IS LOW DUE TO THE RAIN, SO I CAN SEE HOW YOU MIGHT MAKE THAT MISTAKE. ANYWAYS, DEKU WAS OUT THERE RISKING HIS LIFE FOR YOU CLOWNS EVEN THOUGH HE’S JUST A KID, SO I WOULD REALLY APPRECIATE IF YOU COULD ALL REMEMBER HOW TO BE DECENT HUMAN BEINGS, THANKS.” Let’s see if her Big Scolding Energy has any impact.
Today on BnHA: Horikoshi is all “so I have this speech planned out, and it’s really good, but it also only really needs about 6 to 8 pages, but I’m gonna see if I can stretch it out to 17 pages so I can kill time before we get to the next volume cliffhanger two weeks from now.” Anyway but it really is a good speech though. There are feels, and tears, and more talk about how Deku is so in need of a shower that just looking at him requires a tetanus booster, and more feels, and more tears, and bonus ship drama, and an iconic callback to the very first chapter which reframes the entire series in a new context in a totally epic and moving way, and it’s all very good. Except that Horikoshi is determined to never let anyone actually give this kid a hug. Who hurt you, dude.
omg we are opening on a callback to chapter 212, a.k.a. the chapter with by far the cutest flashback that doesn’t involve any baby Todorokis
baby Ochako is lethally cute. she could literally murder someone with her cuteness. I just want to scoop her up and play airplane with her until she accidentally activates her quirk while we’re spinning around and we both helicopter up into the air never to be seen again
“a child’s insistence” huh well that’s all well and good, but I sure hope this doesn’t mean we’re going to drag out the whole “sternly lecture the obnoxious citizens” plot for another whole chapter. no offense but I think we’re good
so page 2 is just continuing the whole happy/worried faces monologue, which of course is very important to Ochako’s character as it provides the context for why “who protects the heroes” ended up becoming her thing. and this is making me think we actually are in for a whole second chapter of this sob. when will my boy finally get to rest
OH MY GOD SUDDENLY THESE PEOPLE HAVE EYES IMAGINE THAT
HORIKOSHI: [reaches for a box of tissues while tearfully penning an homage to his beloved Spider-Man 2, specifically the train scene where the crowd sees Peter without his mask and they suddenly realize just how young he is]
HORIKOSHI’S HOMAGE SCENE: “COME TO THINK OF IT, I GUESS IT WAS KIND OF MEAN FOR US TO PICK ON THIS TEN YEAR OLD KID WHO WEIGHS 75 POUNDS AND LOOKS LIKE HE LOST A FIGHT WITH SATAN’S MOLDY OLD BASEMENT”
lol at this one guy who can feel the mood of the crowd shifting and is all “WAIT, NO, I WANTED TO KEEP BEING AN ASSHOLE DAMMIT”
as many pointed out last week, this man is wearing an All Might shirt. that’s some fantastic irony there
-- SDKFJWIGKS
“LITTLE GIRL, I HOPE YOU’RE NOT SUGGESTING THAT WE SHOULD ALL BE WALKING AROUND DRESSED LIKE A SOVIET-ERA BUS STOP.” heh. last week I said I was ashamed of BnHA being my favorite manga. that was a lie, actually
(ETA: in the original Japanese Ochako’s next two lines are basically “the only ones covered in mud will be us heroes!” followed by “please give us some time to get rid of the mud”, with that second line basically being the single funniest thing I’ve ever read rdslkjl. Ochako thank you so much for supporting my running gags. “YEAH WE KNOW HE’S DIRTY. WE ARE GONNA TRY AND CLEAN HIM UP, BUT IT MAY TAKE A WHILE, I’M JUST SAYING. I MEAN LOOK AT HIM. HE LOOKS LIKE AN ASBESTOS COSPLAY.”)
doesn’t the megaphone kind of look ever so slightly like an axe that she’s wielding maniacally here
easy there Lizzie Borden
also that’s a really bold claim to make there. and not one she necessarily should have to make, either. but as we all know, there’s nothing that shounen manga likes more than having its heroes bravely hoist heavy burdens of responsibility like good self-sacrificing citizens
p.s. lowkey loving how Kacchan is positioned here standing slightly behind Deku. not presuming to stand in front of him all overprotectively (because he would hate if anyone ever did that to him), and kind of being unobtrusive and letting others take center stage -- but still being close enough to Deku that he can catch him if he stumbles or passes out again
(ETA: or maybe not lmao.
DEKU: [falls to his knees]
KACCHAN: [glancing up from his phone a few minutes later] “someone just sent me the stupidest meme about milk crates -- oh. uh. you good...?”
really, son. “the burdens you can’t carry, we’ll carry them for you. ...later, I mean. right now it’s late, and we’re all cold and wet.”)
also lowkey loving this OchaTsu moment here
I was going back and binging Ochako chapters this past week for reasons, and I gotta say it really stuck out to me just how often these two are paired with each other. they do everything together. it’s a really sweet friendship that often goes unappreciated but it’s very cute
meanwhile, not to be outdone by the OchaTsu, Iida is staring at Ochako with open admiration talking about how she’s fighting too. it’s been so long since we’ve had any IidaRaka you guys. I was starving and I didn’t even know it
oh my lord IT’S FINALLY HAPPENING
THE LIGHT IS BACK. he finally looks like him again. what a cathartic fucking moment omg
ffklkdw
“I KNOW YOU ARE ALL SCARED, BUT THE GOOD NEWS IS, WE DEFINITELY CANNOT GUARANTEE YOUR SAFETY AND WE ARE ALL SCARED TOO!” good pep talk there kiddo
BUT, jokes aside, truth be told this is the exact right approach to take imo, and something that’s long overdue. I’ve said this before, but this new generation of heroes is shaping up to be much more transparent than the All Might generation. they’re basically abandoning the almighty, untouchable Superman “heroes as gods” concept in favor of the more nuanced “heroes as people” concept instead. and that’s a good thing. seeing their heroes as humans, with human limitations and weaknesses and flaws, will hopefully not only lead to more scrutiny and accountability, but also more awareness of how hard some of them are working and how much they’re sacrificing. that’s something All Might never quite grasped back at the start of the series -- that the weak, vulnerable, injured him could be just as inspiring as the mighty, invincible him -- perhaps even more so. there’s a power in seeing otherwise ordinary people show extraordinary bravery and compassion. it inspires others to try and do the same
SSDLHK AIZAWA SIGHTING AAHHHHHH
so he was still back at the hospital this whole time?? smdh at this disrespect. that feeling when your sexy self-insert character’s powers of rationality are too strong, and so you have to nerf him so that he doesn’t ruin your Deku Angst arc twice over by (1) immediately talking some sense into Deku and making him come home Right This Instant Young Man, and (2) not allowing him to leave U.A. in the first fucking place. excuse me, you want to do WHAT now, Midoriya?? that’s it, go to your room
also living for Katsuki and Hawks’s soft expressions. Shouto’s too, although his is tinier and harder to see. and Jeanist’s 12-foot-long neck. imagine Jeanist’s head with Mic’s hair. maybe Jeanist had a mohawk back in the day and that’s why U.A.’s doors are so big now
speaking of soft faces, Enji’s is also excellent
what could this random close-up possibly imply?? hell if I know. but Horikoshi truly fears no discourse and that’s what I love about him
OMGGGG
“smh my child is so dumb.” poor Ochadad. your child is cute af count your blessings
SDOFFHSMH
I’m telling you guys. lethally, catastrophically cute
this speech is still ongoing lol. Horikoshi you’re doing so good but I think we get the point now my dude. you gotta learn how to transition out of these things
UNEXPECTED TOGA WHAT
“there we go” Horikoshi says, crossing off the last line on his list of Ochako ships. “that’s all of ‘em”
poor Ochako is just repeating the same “LET HIM REST, PLEASE, WITH EVERYONE’S COOPERATION, IF YOU DON’T MIND, WE APPRECIATE IT” talking points over and over again hoping someone will throw her a bone and acknowledge her already. SOMEONE PLEASE HELP HER
literally they’re all just staring up at her silently omg. work with me people!!
now she’s saying it for the 56th time but more dramatically all of a sudden
they got so dramatic that for a minute I thought she had suddenly leaped off the building or something
look, not to rush you or anything Horikoshi, but I’m starting to get the feeling that this is yet another one of those “the volume is ending soon so I need to either hurry things up or slow things down in order to make sure we end it on my perfect cliffhanger ending” chapters where you go to ridiculous lengths to drag things out much to the exasperation of your week-to-week readers
(ETA: ftr, volume 31 ended on chapter 306, and I’m predicting that vol. 32 will end with chapter 316 (a.k.a. “you’re next!” [explodes]). I’m guessing vol. 33 will follow suit and likely end on chapter 326, so keep your eyes peeled for a big cliffhanger in two weeks’ time. Deku’s dad?? All Might in peril?? U.A. traitor at long fucking last?? we shall see.)
is Deku straight up falling in love with Ochako right on the spot lol what is happening
I know I just said that I enjoy when Horikoshi gives zero fucks about discourse, but shipping discourse is a whole different beast lol. I hope he’s prepared
(ETA: and for the record, I have no interest in shipping discourse either, as always. and I think this scene can be interpreted as platonic, tbh, with the context being that Ochako was literally introduced as someone who was willing to help him so casually without a second thought, and now here she is saving him again.
I don’t think it really fully hit Deku until this moment how much he needed saving. like I said in another meta somewhere, selflessness is basically just selfishness on behalf of others. and Deku is selfless to a fault, but that’s okay, and it doesn’t mean he needs to change -- he just needs friends who are willing to be be selfish on his behalf in turn. and I think the full emotion of what it means to have friends like that just hit him at last. everything his friends have done for him, how much he needed it and didn’t even realize, and how grateful he is. anyways what a terrible day for rain.)
-- son of a --
is he apologizing?? or pleading?? please tell me that’s not the case, because what the actual fuck. Deku you beautiful precious radiant selfless child, this is the exact opposite of how this should be. all these motherfuckers should be on their knees apologizing to you
DEKU WHY
I DIDN’T ASK FOR THIS FREAKING BOMBARDMENT OF EMOTIONS GODDAMIT. OUT HERE ARMED WITH YOUR FREAKING TREBUCHET OF FEELS TO LAUNCH AT ME UNPROVOKED. WHAT’S WITH THAT
FREAKING CHRIST. THIS BOY IS CRYING HIS EYES OUT AND HORIKOSHI IS JUST ZOOMING IN WITH THE CAMERA, LIKE CAN WE JUST CUT HIM A BREAK ALREADY. ENOUGH OF THIS. HE’S SO YOUNG AND HE TRIES SO HARD AND I JUST NEED HIM TO FEEL SAFE, HORIKOSHI PLEASE CAN YOU JUST GIVE ME THAT ALREADY WHAT IS THE FREAKING HOLD UP!!
GIGANTIC FOX LADY!!!
GIGANTIC FOX LADY PLEASE BE MY HUGGER BY PROXY!! SERIOUSLY GIRL IF YOU JUST HOLD YOUR UMBRELLA OVER HIM OR SOMETHING AND DON’T GO THE EXTRA MILE I’M ABOUT TO LODGE AN OFFICIAL COMPLAINT. THIS IS GETTING RIDICULOUS NOW
!!!!
A KOUTA IS GOOD TOO!!! oh my god if Kouta hugs him I will seriously 100% straight up cry. go on and test me
FOR THE LOVE OF --
is this man expressly forbidden from drawing hugs in his contract or something. DO YOU DO IT JUST TO SPITE ME?? this is tyranny, sir
AND I KNOW, THIS PAGE ACTUALLY CHALLENGED THE VERY PREMISE OF THE SERIES ITSELF, AND HERE I AM COMPLAINING ABOUT HUGS, OR THE LACK THEREOF. “this is the story of how we all became the greatest heroes.” and just like that, he waves a polite middle finger at all of the Strongest Greatest Chosen One shounen protags of old, in favor of something much less conventional, much more interesting, and much more suited to Deku’s character. because if that one sentence doesn’t just sum up Deku to a T. he gladly relinquishes his Greatest Hero status in favor of acknowledging the hero in everyone. what a class act. that’s my protagonist
I love this kid so fucking much I swear. only just PLEASE. FOR THE LOVE OF GOD. GIVE HIM HIS HUG

Fic Recs
Alright, folks, I've recently had cause to go through all six thousand something bookmarks of mine, so I figured I might finally do one of these. It's not even close to being all of the good fics I have saved, but these are some my absolute favorites.
All of these are completed and have happy endings unless otherwise specified.
If you try and make fun of me for my choice in fandoms, please keep in mind I have no shame and treat anon hate as fun enrichment for my habitat.
Percy Jackson
Solangelo
5: I've seen it recommended everywhere, for a good reason. Great for people who like their fluff a bit unhinged. 2k,
Touch Me: This one is for the touch starved bitches out there. Will knows that Nico doesn't like to be touched- in this specific case, Nico disagrees. 8k.
in which will solace's gentle hands pay off: Similar premise; Nico is touch-starved and he wants Will to touch him. 1k.
Jasico
joy and sorrow: Anyone else up for an Orpheus and Eurydice parallel? Jason languishes in paradise. Nico brings him back. 10k.
Ace Attorney
Narumitsu
and the tree was happy: Easily my favorite characterization of Trucy. It's Trucy-centric, and it focuses on her fixing the fallout after the truth about Thalassa comes out. 36k.
So, when this loose behavior I throw off: Edgeworth finds Phoenix during his disbarment and proceeds to play a very high stakes game of poker. 12k.
one step at a time: Phoenix decides to retake the bar after his five years are up. Edgeworth is there every step of the way. 22k.
forty years in the wilderness: Miles Edgeworth comes home five weeks after Phoenix finishes rebuilding the jury trial system. 9k.
Klapollo
and it's christmas, so no one can fix it: This is just honestly very well written. It handles Klavier's first Christmas after Kristoph- well, after Kristoph. 10k.
don't you lose my number: Five unconnected textfics, and each of them worth the time. 66k.
fame vs infamy: In which Apollo somehow lands a boyfriend by writing Klavier x Reader out of spite. 12k.
Boku no Hero Academia
Dabihawks
you're the song stuck in my head: You want some cute fake dating? I can hook you up with some cute fake dating. I'll even throw in some mutual pining. AU where Hawks is a cheerleader and Dabi is in a band. 37k.
Erasermic
on air: Mic is doing a segment on fun proposals on his radio channel. Aizawa calls in. 2k.
fusebox heart: AU where Mic has cyborg parts that need maintenance, and Aizawa is his favorite mechanic. Just like this fic is my favorite. 27k.
Tododeku
don't you just want to go apeshit?: Todoroki is tired of being nice. He chooses violence (memes) instead. 15k.
Hand to Heart: Deku asks to study Todoroki's quirk, and Shouto falls in love. 13k.
Haikyuu!!
Bokuaka
Karma: In which Bokuto offers to teach him yoga and Akaashi is a weak, weak man. 9k.
daisy rings and frivolous things: Akaashi is pining, and Bokuto has an onigiri quest for them. They get engaged. 15k.
il mio ragazzo falso: Akaashi brings Bokuto to his granparents' wedding anniversary- as his fake boyfriend. I think you know where this is going. 18k.
one in a hundred: Dating would be a lot easier if Akaashi stopped trying to break up with him. 3k.
Kagehina
your whole life on your play: Directly after his team wins the game, Hinata proposes to Kageyama. They weren't dating. (Part of a series, but can be read on its own.) 3k.
Kuroken
Please Notice Me: Instead of talking about his feelings, Kenma turns into a cat. Kuro is a sweetheart about it. 10k.
i hear my heart breaking tonight: Kenma is pining his way through the most domestic life possible. 10k.
In Another Castle: Kuroo, will you please just let Kenma buy you two a house? Domestic fluff and mutual pining. 19k.
Tsukiyama
And Everything in Between: Yamaguchi buys Tsukishima a lizard for his birthday. It's the best gift he's ever gotten. 51k.
Sakuatsu
Other Boys in Other Ports: An absolute masterpiece. Atsumu is a space sailor and Sakusa is the bartender he spends three days with every time he arrives at his port. 26k.
The Dos and Don'ts of Loving Sakusa Kiyoomi: Atsumu is tired of always getting it wrong with Sakusa, so he starts keeping a list. 15k.
Hunter x Hunter
Leopika
All Roads Lead To: Urban Fantasy AU involving a magical library and a myriad of paths to take. Kurapika is the librarian, if that sweetens the pot for you. 46k.
Immersion Learning: Leorio picks up a bit of Kuruta over the years. 4k.
Killugon
starlight and star-crossed: Killua loses all of his memory of Gon, and he thinks this boy is too good to be true. 22k.
wriggle up on dry land: Killua thinks Mito is gonna hit Gon, so he begs her to hit him instead. 1k.
Naruto
Gen
The Divided Self: Sakura knows she has no natural advantage, no clan, no kekkei genkai. So she makes herself one. 6k.
Gaalee
Suna Stories: In which Gaara gets sick, and Lee has gotten drunk- Wait, not at the same time! 14k.
Diplomatic Relations: Lee is sent as an ambassador in Suna, which is sure to go over very well. 162k.
Undertale
Gen
Trying Out a Maybe: Technically platonic charisk, but Frisk isn't quite there. Sans notices the thing killing all the monsters is acting weird. 8k. Hopeful ending, but check the tags.
memeing across time and space: It's very hard to meme from the void. Gaster still tries. 1k.
The Witcher
Geraskier
nourish: Jaskier has a habit of sharing his food. (Honestly, I recommend about everything by @penandinkprincess. It's just all good shit.) 10k.
Customs of Courtship and Marriage: Jaskier starts calling Geralt his wifey as sort of a joke, and it sticks. 14k.
A Song Of My Own: Jaskier falls in love all the time, and there's a very cute scene with supportive bystanders. Much like with penandink, I recommend you just take a look at the author's works. 7k.
The Man Made of Love: Geralt is convinced Jaskier deserves better than his love. Still, he writes. 5k.
Voltron
Klance
i like where we are (here): For anyone who likes mutual pining. Lance is coming to Keith's home with him during college break, and he is Not handling it well. 40k.
tell me again, do you love me?: Everyone knows Lance is in love with Keith, and I do mean everyone- including Keith himself. Fluff. 6k.
Terminal Velocity: Technically a sequel, but can be read on its own. Lance always falls too fast- but Keith's down bad. 23k.
DC
Birdflash
Homiesexual: For the meme lovers out there. Wally has a sexuality crisis due to his hot gym buddy, Dick, and then posts about it on reddit. Because of course. 9k.
As Invisible as the True Stars at Daybreak: They just... know each other so well... Nightwing is acting weird, and Wally is the only one who has noticed. 5k.
Superbat
to feel without a light: Bruce is out of his mind with fear toxin, but he still trusts Clark. 5k.
Timkon
Cork Board Contingencies: For people who share my belief that Tim is at his best as a feral nerd. Tim has a date with Kon and goes feral about planning it. 3k.
Shiny New Fears: Could it be?... Yes, healthy communication. Features established timkon talking through their worries as they decide whether or not to have kids. (Not mpreg.) 10k.
Trust Me to Have a Pen in Hand: High School AU where Conner always has a pen to lend Tim. 1k.
The Mystery of the Superboy Shirts: Tim is obsessed with trying to figure out where the fuck Kon's shirts keep coming from. 4k.
Jayroy
The Big Book: Another one that is frequently recommended, and for good reason. Deals mostly with Roy's addiction. Features a supportive Jason. 4k.
I Want You With Me (Always): Idiots to lovers, featuring meaningful tattoos and commitment. 3k.
if your real dad isn't present store bought is fine: baby Lian goes to Red Hood when she's in danger, so he beats up a creep for her. What's not to like? 1k.
Bluepulse
Stick With Me: A classic set up where Jaime and Bart get stuck in a cabin and have to deal with their continuous proximity. 25k.
Sanders Sides
Analogical
i'll give you the moon: Ironically, Virgil defies logic in order to try to give Logan the perfect gift. 4k.
Intrulogical
by a map half-written: Arranged marriage AU. At the last minute, it's decided Logan will marry Prince Remus instead of his twin. Logan is quite satisfied with this. 4k.
Stalker-verse: A tiny series in which Remus and Logan are each other's stalkers. Somehow, this manages to have fluff. Check the tags. 19k.
The Magnus Archives
Jonmartin
Martin Blackwood and the Power of Research: Martin really wants to talk to Jon, so he tries infodumping. 4k.
Jongerry
fool me, fool me: In which Jon fake dates Gerry so the rest of the archives gang doesn't think he's homophobic. About as ridiculous as it sounds. Textfic. 27k.
Supernatural
Destiel
six hundred sundays (and many more): Time works different for angels and Cas has always loved Dean. So much fluff. 15k.
Purgatory, director's cut: A different retelling of Castiel and Dean's time in Purgatory. Clearly. 23k.
Fifty Ways to Lose Your Lover: Screenplay format, as the characters themselves revolt against the script. Humor. 1k.
Tall Grass: Castiel plants a garden. Dean watches. 57k.
Midam
adjust to the light: AU where Adam is the only survivor of a serial killer, and his ex, Michael, seems very concerned about his safety. 69k. Nice.
for fear that you'd find out: Right after they leave the bunker, Michael and Adam have a refreshingly honest conversation. 4k.
the divergence of divine law: Thee fic for those who enjoy thinking about their time together in the cage. Check the tags. Technically ambiguous ending. 73k.
Drarry
The Pure and Simple Truth: Harry, Draco and Hermione walk into a pub. There is no punchline. There is a very well developed supporting cast though. 65k.
Wolfstar
keymash: Absolutely perfect fic. Mostly texting. Wrong Number and No Magic AU. 45k.
The Barista, The Burglar, and the Sofa: In which Remus is an anxious barista whose house keeps getting broken into by a very generous stranger. (It's Sirius.) 21k.
#alex wont shut up#bnha#pjo#hxh#wolfstar#haikyuu#ace attorney#naruto#klance#not tagging everything bc can you imagine. anyway

But Yandere!Izuku and Villain!Deku are same person? Talking about (his) their personaly/ities? (being psychopaths and obsessive to possessive)
Alright, this will probably be the last ask I answer this week for a while (don’t hold me to that, some asks are easier to answer than others for some reason?). Character analysis time! This isn’t the first time someone’s said this so I hope this helps and clarifies some things! And for the record, this is just my personal opinion/my own viewpoint. Under the cut because it’s super long and I got carried away, sorry!
Firstly, Villain!Deku and Yandere!Izuku are not always one in the same for me. They can be, like how Izuku is in my fic “Stained Glass”, but to me they’re often different. I think it’s all in how you interpret both of them.
Villain!Deku: A lot of the times I see Villain!Deku portrayed as an insane psychopath who’s extremely possessive/unhinged and crazy about his Doll/so, but he doesn’t have to be that way. Villain!Deku could be many things; crazy, soft (a personal favorite of mine), caring (believe it or not), scary, calculated, cold, stoic, aloof, nonchalant... The point is, he can be a villain without being psychopathic and obsessive. Those certainly are considered more “negative” qualities that relate more to villains, but villains can be more than just crazy. They can have depth, still live normal lives to the best of their extent, or even be completely coherent with a brilliant plan that the hero has to work against the entire time. Take his motives into account. Did Deku become a villain because hero society was just too much to handle and it slowly corrupted him, or was he always a little unhinged right from the start? Did something happen to Inko? Was it the rejection from All Might? Was it all of those things put together? Was it how Bakugou bullied him?
There are plenty of reasons Deku has to become a villain (shoutout to canon Deku for staying strong and pursuing his dreams, you GO baby boy!), and depending on the severity of the trigger(s) and how it affected him, he very well could be leading a semi-normal life even as a villain. Ultimately though, it’s all in the eyes of the beholder; the writer creates the world however they want.
I’ll do my best to paint a picture of how I see Villain!Deku most of the time in my head, because he’s probably a lot different than what most of you think. To me, Villain!Deku is often a character who’s been failed by the heroes, who learned how to do things on his own, who climbed the latter of villains through his own means and hard work. He’s charming, flirty, mentally stable/available, and still feels empathy for a select few people, his s/o and mother included. He’s a critical thinker who analyzes things before acting, who plans out his moves down to every last possible consequence before coming up with a plan. He can be caring, he’s observant, and he does everything with purpose. He has goals. The point is, he’s not just a psychopath who’s possessive.
Now, Yandere!Izuku on the other hand...
Yandere!Izuku: Here’s the thing. While there is still variety in Yandere Verse, I personally think it’s a little more clear cut when it comes to underlying motives and personality traits. Yes, Yandere!Izuku will eventually become possessive or obsessive in some way; it’s how yanderes are. Whether he goes full on psychopath or not is up to a writer’s discretion, but yeah, most of the time it happens in many of the fics I’ve read. Yandere!Izuku usually has one goal, and that is to be with the reader/his s/o. Now he might do this several different ways, but the end goal is ultimately the same. Usually possessive yanderes don’t really care about anything else if it’s not related to their darling, so unless it’s interfering with his relationship with his partner, he won’t care (at least not as much as he should).
Now let’s throw in a villain aspect to Yandere!Izuku!
There are a couple different ways to go about this. First, Izuku could have been a villain before he became yandere. Maybe he saw the reader one day while he was working or met them through his villain connections, idk. Whatever floats your boat. He turns (he’s not a vampire, Sweater, he’s a yandere), and now he’s both a villain and yandere. The second possibility is that he was yandere for the reader before he became a villain, or that he became a villain because he’s yandere and would do anything for his darling. Maybe he did it to prove he could keep them safe. Maybe it was a show of his love for them. Either way, he’s now a villain. But then we have a third option, and that’s that Yandere!Izuku never became a villain at all. He went to school, became a hero, and then became yandere somewhere along the line while he was still a hero. I love this option the most because it’s so contradictory in the fact that he’s technically a hero and yet he’d be willing to do things that are illegal or immoral just for the sake of his darling.
(TLDR) Which leads to my conclusion:
Villain!Deku and Yandere!Izuku are not always one in the same. Villain!Deku isn’t always a possessive psychopath, and Yandere!Izuku isn’t always a villain. They can be the same, or they can be different.
Thank you for coming to my seminar about Villain!Deku and Yandere!Izuku. I hope you enjoy the rest of your day!

I'm really happy with this chapter. I was so worried Horikoshi was gonna fuck up Stain's reappearance, but he crushed it. Stain didn't feel OOC and his presence had a purpose. I really hope we get to see more chapters like this one, the writing just felt higher quality IMO. Maybe I just feel that way because Stain's my favorite MHA character, but I'm just really happy with how this chapter turned out.
Yeah its a load off. It was really good. Stain still going strong despite Hori fumbling with the Hero Society shenanigans!
YES His characterization was great, unhinged but with a clear purpose, the detail of All Might saying he didnt sense any murderous intent was great because All Might is a great hero and Stain has always went out of his way to not hurt true heroes*... Its also nice to know Stain knows hes not good person. Like he clearly always had that level of clarity but it was just good to see again as crazy as he seems. God Stain is a god damn good character!
Naw this isnt bias... this is good writing after like a year of dubious choices from Horikoshi. He does Stain well. Stain has such a solid base its probably hard to fuck him up at this point.
*I say this but Im still wondering what the fuck Tensei did to get fucked up the way he did. Because Stain is so adamant about sparing good heroes even breaking his alliance and putting himself in danger to save Deku. Everything weve seen (in canon, Vigilantes causes issues/plot holes if its supposed to be canon) with Tensei has been... him being a good hero... This is one of those things I expected more information on but Horikoshi just never brought up the problems with heroes ever again until this shitty arc/s so its just left as a weird OOC moment if Tensei was as good as he seemed and Stain almost killed him.
#BNHA ranting.#Dear Nonny.#Unless it was an accident or something... but thats weak. And still its been left for so long.

Curious to know what your favorite romance tropes are? And some that your not a fan of (for example, I dont like one-sided pining/crush trope)
Hmmm might be a little hard for me to give a brief answer because I don't actually know very many trope names when it comes to romance stuff, or honestly what all qualifies as a trope. I tend to not search by tropes, I only search for content involving characters I like, and if the results are not great then I just don't bother with them.
But I'll talk about my preferences sure c:
I can name some things I don't like first that parts easy. One-sided stuff I don't care for either, I wouldn't even call it romance if its not reciprocated. That and pining can be cute if there's actual payoff, but if its just angst then no.
Getting the obvious ones out of the way I don't touch any romance stuff involving themes of Incest, adult/minor, rape, stalking, shit like that all out the window. That A/B/O stuff? Nah, HATE that. And while not romance exclusive I also don't touch genderbend content of any kind because it makes me super uncomfortable.
I don't mind age-gaps as long as both characters are adults and the gap is reasonable. My preferences barely go above maybe 5 years difference anyway.
Uh....tropes that involve cheating, Possessive behavior, or jealously, like that "gets mad when their s/o talks to literally anyone" kind. That is the most annoying shit.
I've never been a romantic person. I'm very aro and get second-hand embarrassment easily when it comes to overly mushy stuff. Like, outright will close out a fic and never look back if it makes me cringe too hard. (this isn't a jab at peoples writing this is me having a very irrational response to something harmless and I really can’t help it.) The impact of a dramatic phrase like "I love you" after a long build up in fics is lost on me. Especially since I cant imagine most of the characters I like actually saying that. I prefer action over words, more casual or subtle affection.
And I guess if it's written stuff it's not really a trope thing but I don't do first or second person pov writing. Again not a romance person myself, haaaaaate being put in the position of one of the characters, super uncomfortable.
When it comes to things I like....
Enemies to lovers is the top of my list as far as tropes go, tho typically it isn't like Protaganist/Antagonist its Bastard #1/Bastard #2.
I usually only like villain characters so most of the relationship dynamics I like tend to have some rough edges. Ships that I have been into have been ones like Sasori/Deidara, Dabi/Shigaraki, and Belphegor/Fran. So I guess the vibe is kinda...mutual bickering? Rude and unpleasant characters that always have a (mostly harmless) back and forth with each other when they interact is very entertaining to me. The keyword is MUTUAL tho, both characters have to be actively annoying each other and on even grounds. That's why a ship like Bel/Fran is appealing to me yet I cant vibe with one like Bakugo/Deku. I don't like one-sided hostility, it just loses the fun.
I’m not big on angst for the sake of angst but I do love hurt/comfort stuff. It’s very cathartic for a character you like to suffer terribly but still be able to make it to a point of healing. Most of my favs are unhinged and broken beyond repair so I want to put emphasis on ‘healing’ not ‘fixing’. I don’t like romance being used as a cheap way to ‘fix’ mentally ill characters.
Overall I don't really have a set in stone preference in tropes as long as it doesn't involve the ones I dislike. Most content I consume and make is pre-established relationship stuff anyway. I just go into content with a mindset of "Does it include my favs?" and "By my standards is it good?" if both are checked then that's all I need.
Spoiler tho: I don’t really dive into fanfics very often anyway because my pool of interests is too small and the things I like usually attract either the absolute worst shit or nothing at all. I've had to live off my own content for quite awhile now lol
I don’t know if this actually answered your question or not. If you want to know my thoughts about SPECIFIC tropes I could answer those easier. I get a little too wordy when questions are a bit vague. I don’t mind them I just feel bad when every response I give is a word dump ; ;
#thanks for asking#i dont interact with the romance genre outside of fics and fanart so that might be something to keep in mind#romance novel movies and anime are boring as hell to me#I need characters that are familiar that I actually like to care about romance in media#some of my preferences also heavily rely on hc so some stuff im into might not make sense to others#if theyre not people i actively share my ideas and wips with#not art

I still have more character asks. Imma need you to tell me what you think about one very blue flamey psycho, and also a grown ass man who never learned what chapstick is. I mean to say a very Hot Frankenstein and a Where-the-Fuck-Did-You-Get-the-Hands boy. Dabi and Shigarki, Ajax. Tell me everything.
el the energy coming from this ask is unhinged did you adopt it from these two or
favorite thing about them:
DABI: for real the way it looks when his quirk is animated in the show. like. what the fuck. who the fuck why the fuck is it so goddamn gorgeous to look at and how DARE yall deprive me of more of that beautiful blue sparkly cartoon fire do you have ANY idea how fun that is to look at when you’re high
SHIGARAKI: his straight up nightmarish character design. also the fact that he is a foil to Deku, which is just so fascinating for a villain i mean yall they are growing TOGETHER like how interesting is that they’re both learning how to be better/worse at like the same pace and shit i’m just hella interested in that as a narrative device
least favorite thing about them:
DABI: he does NOT have enough scenes, he does not use his goddamn quirk enough, there’s just not enough fire overall have i told you guys how much i like the fire. its so beautiful. also, does Horikoshi think he’s being fucking sneaky by refusing to give us the Todoroki reveal or what because i’m TIRED of it. just tell us. just. please god just finally tell us
SHIGARAKI: none of the villains in bnha are developed enough. there are all these hints but nothing is anywhere near as realized as it could be. also someone get the boy some goddamn moisturizer.
favorite line:
DABI: says some shit about some dudes being trash and then burning to ash or something and it was dope af
SHIGARAKI: in one of the dumb little things in the manga kurogiri is trying to get them all to work together on some desert island and shigaraki says WE WILL OVER YOUR MANGLED CORPSE like all super cheery and shit
brOTP:
DABI: dabi & toga, dabi & shigaraki, touya & natsuo now i’m sad
SHIGARAKI: shigaraki & the entire league of villains
OTP:
DABI: fuckin’ hawks. hotwings, goddamn it i hate myself but goddamn it. also dabi x therapy, dabi x finally killing endeavor, dabi x face staples
SHIGARAKI: shigaraki x chapstick, shigaraki x moisturizer, shigaraki x mental instability lets be real his insane energy is amazing, shigaraki x fully realized villainous potential
nOTP:
DABI: don’t have one
SHIGARAKI: shigaraki x deku, gross. get away from my perfect son
random headcanon:
DABI: definitely is in excruciating pain every time he uses his quirk, definitely got those scars from burning himself, definitely is the ultimate king of daddy issues to be challenged only by shouto in what must be the coolest family drama episode of Maury ever made
SHIGARAKI: secretly thinks of the league of villains as his friends, but would still not hesitate to cut a single bitch.
unpopular opinion:
DABI: idk what opinions of him are popular or not i’m gonna go out on a limb here and assume that finding this weird abomination attractive is not exactly a one-in-a-million instance tho
SHIGARAKI: i legit am rooting for him to get more evil and more intelligent/ grow tf up so that he can become the new All for One and eventually annihilate us all as the biggest bad there ever was
song i associate with them: I LOVE THIS ONE BECAUSE THESE TWO HAVE PERFECT SONGS FOR THEIR DUMB ASSES
DABI: Twisted by MISSIO, fuckin hell it was written for him. ALSO, Play With Fire by Sam Tinnesz
SHIGARAKI: fucking I Can’t Decide by the Scissor Sisters
favorite picture of them: any and all comics of the league fucking the fuck around like the dumbasses they are

What’s your least and most favorite thing about Bakugou (not physically)
I was going to say his dumb faces for both least and favourite thing about him, but then realised that was physical LOL, so I’m going to have to go with my second answer for both least and favourite thing which is, quite simply, his anger.
Despite being played both straight and for comedic purposes, Bakugou Katsuki’s anger is fascinating because it’s so…. horrific? The first few chapters/episodes are so hard to consume because Bakugou is genuinely so angry. It’s unhinged, like, genuinely so. And it’s made so, so clear that this works against him, time after time — the way it cripples him in that first training exercise where he tries to murder Deku. At the Sports Festival, when his disappointment at not being seen as a worthy threat by Todoroki ends with him being chained in front of literal millions, freaking out. The way his anger and the treatment it gets him by society at large ends up making him a target for the League of Legends. His bullying of Deku, in general, and how he eventually has to atone for that. And on a meta level — the way that his anger and what he’s done because of it can divide the BNHA fandom.
There’s something…. idk, terrifying and all-consuming about cis male anger. We’re all subjected to it, whether we like it or not, and here you have this medium written by a man, in part about anger and what it can do, what happens to the victims of it (Deku, Todoroki, Dabi, Shiggy) — and arguably one of it’s most popular characters is like…. a poster child for Anger Management. Anger by itself is…. brutal, it’s kind of the nature of it, but there’s something very specific and violent about male anger, let alone the brand that comes with cis teenage boys. The brand that comes with cis teenage boys who are also super-powered, and quickly building muscle and strength specifically so they can deal damage. I dunno if it’s because of the privilege and power they all inevitably hold, or hormones or what, but it’s scary. It’s scary, even coming from our favourites. Even Deku has it — the fandom uwu. It’s that gap between this boy who’ll cry because he’s happy/grateful and then the cold snap of him wanting to test out a new kicking style on a childhood “friend” who’s honestly been a shit to him since day one. It’s the thing that throws him into beserker mode. It’s apart of him, like Bakugou’s is — Deku just has a sweeter temperament overall to balance it out. That kind of anger can be alienating, especially in Bakugou, when it erupts.
Now, why is this also my favourite aspect of his character? Because I think Bakugou’s anger is also tempering him — I think he is learning to wield it, as oppose to wear it. The thing about anger is that once you live in long enough you learn to recognise when and how it can help you. Bakugou has learnt the downfall that comes with letting your anger run rampant — he’s sunk to the bottom with the stone of it around his neck, and now he has to find a way to break back through the surface, still carrying it. How do you turn a chain into something that can get you to freedom, as opposed to keeping you in place? Bakugou’s still a teenager — he’s still learning. But I like to imagine that as an adult he’s taken those chains and wrapped them around his fists to reinforce his punches, as opposed to keeping him from looking up. Just like his bullying of Deku will always be formative to who he is, so will his anger. And I think we all need the reminder to take the worst part of ourselves and use it to drag ourselves to somewhere closer to betterment.
