Subs: Robles, Gyabi, Greenwood, Gray. I was very impressed with the Emirates stadium - Elland Road looks distinctly shabby in comparison, as well as being too small for a Leeds team that's in the Premier League. Whether or not we can stay in the league is still open to question.... There was also a nice tribute to David Rocastle before kick off. Prior to the game there was more bad news on the injury front for Leeds: Tyler Adams has had to undergo surgery and is out for the rest of the season. Max Wober and Willy Gnonto picked up injuries while on international duty but should be back before the end of April. There's still no news about Adam Forshaw and Stuart Dallas.... Leeds started with an experimental line up that didn't include a recognised striker. It goes without saying that we were not expected to get anything from this game, but it was pretty even for the first half hour, with chances at both ends. Then Arsenal were awarded a really soft penalty and Gabriel Jesus made no mistake from the spot.... Leeds were still in it until Ben White doubled Arsenal's lead just after half time, and then things went from bad to worse a few minutes later, when Jesus slotted home a cross from Leandro Trossard. We scored a consolation goal with 14 minutes of regular time remaining, but any hope of a comeback was put to bed by the fabulously named Granit Xhaka, when he headed home a fine cross by Martin Odegaard to seal the three points for Arsenal.

Above Big Papa’s Peri Peri on Holloway Road stands a mural featuring Arsenal symbols and figures, past and present. It’s big. It’s red. It’s got a big cannon on it. 

Herbert Chapman and Unai Emery can be seen looking over a large sheet of plans. David ‘Rocky’ Rocastle giving the thumbs up. Ian Wright’s beaming in bruised banana bearing a bright smile sitting atop the cannon.

There’s also Bernd Leno, rolling balls across to the foot of the cannon, in front of Sead Kolašinac. Daniëlle van de Donk painting ‘Victoria Concordia Crescit’ on tippy-toe. Mesut Özil locking and loading. And the triumvirate of Alexandre Lacazette, Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang and Vivianne Miedema, ready to shoot on sight. It bangs. 

A massive Arsenal fan himself, illustrator Reuben Dangoor was commissioned by adidas to produce the mural, to coincide with the launch of Arsenal’s 2019-20 home kit. Dangoor is also best known for his pieces celebrating the best of modern British culture and music, as well as pointed political and social commentary.

Arsenal won the league at Anfield! 🏆

The goals from Alan Smith and Michael Thomas helped The Gunners to snatch the title away from Liverpool at their own ground, winning by virtue of having scored eight more goals than Liverpool throughout the season, as both sides inseparable on points and goal difference.
