It’s awesome to check the Quentin Beck tag and actually find people actively creating art and writing and making posts, and I would love to go talk to all of those people but this is apparently where my shyness/insecurity gets the best of me. Anyway, anyone who sees this post, please ask me about any of the Quentin/Daniel/Francis headcanons and fic snippets I’ve come up with. There’s a good few and I can’t keep rotating these boys in my head all on my own. Please

He’s listed as the Jack O’lantern used in Nick Spencer's Spiderman run, and is currently the only Jack O’lantern still operating to my knowledge after Owen Ward died in the Gold Goblin solo, and Crime Master's Jack got officially killed off and is still in hell as shown in deadpool and ghost rider comics. Jason Macendale is listed nowadays as a hobgoblin, and the fate of Maguire + Daniel Berkhart is still unclear

some incarnations of him surely are! while i don’t interact with modern comics media outlets a lot, i did read some stuff on the wiki an’ boy, it gets so confusing! like earth-616, earth-2108 an’ so on. it honestly feels like the character dies, but also not dies. or rather, he dies there, but look, in that other universe he’s alive…so it’s endless schrodinger’s cat syndrome. 

it's one of those things, that generally makes the comics seems confusing an' unapproachable to some people. bc where do you start, why this is canon in this ran, but in the next, it's not an' so on...

my own knowledge of the comics narrowed to the amount of things, i purposely seek out, rather than me reading ran after ran. so, really i'm in no way an expert. i’m more of ‘me likey the concept / narrative, me read, me think it’s canon’ sort of fella. i do everything in a bizarre lizard ways, even my hobbies! i'm fussy an' selective. an' also too scatterbrained to memorize endless amount of comic rans. i'm impressed with people, who are able to do it. i think, it's pretty cool!

either way, it's good to know that my dude steven is still alive, at least somewhere. each time, i go to see what story he was in, he usually gets killed off lol. marvel just never seem to know what to do with jack, despite a few times creating a few bomber of an arc. now, if only they could keep it 'set in stone'. not only with jacks, but hobgoblins too.

It’s been a good while since I did a NCS and while I don’t have a new figure or characters to talk about, I do have a couple of characters that have once used the Jack O’Lantern persona. Starting today with Mysterio’s official successor, Mysterio (Berkhart). Yes, I know I should have done this when I was doing the alternates before, but I missed him and Klum. Next…

If a Far From Home type plot happens, I assume Quentin Beck isn't his "real" name. I've given him the name Daniel Berkhart as his birth/prior name (taken from the comics, where there's been 3 men who have been Mysterio.) He doesn't respond to his prior name anymore but I'm having fun imagining old friend/college roommate Johnathan who refuses to call him anything but Danny and basically just becomes the only person that Quentin will respond to that name still.

Marvel Legends Jack O' Lantern! Or is it Mad Jack?

Fun figure of a lower tier villain. My favorite iteration of this character is the one that harassed Flash Thompson's Venom, but we technically already got that guy. Would still love an update since that one felt dated even at release.

Until then, this more classic Jack is nice to have. It's a colorful design that fits nicely into my Spidey rogues gallery. Not much to say here, it's a pretty fun toy. My one complaint is that the limbs feel soft. Those bicep pegs worry me. One tangentially related thing I will complain about is that we've gotten a Jack O' Lantern with fists and butterfly joints before Green Goblin or Hobgoblin! What's the deal? Updates for those two are becoming sorely needed.

Well first off: my first ever ask! Woah

Alright, that out of the way, sexuality and gender hcs, let’s see. I’ll be honest, I haven’t really given it a huge amount of thought beyond ‘they’re all gay for each other’ but going off vibes… Francis strikes me as thoroughly gay, ngl. Daniel might be pan, I don’t think he cares about the equipment as long as the sex is fun, ya know XD as for Quentin… I wanna call him a disaster bi, but. Well there’s layers to this. Quentin is my blorbo of choice, which means he gets projected on in every way I can fit. Hence why he’s 100% trans in my heart. So, again, I’d live to call him a disaster bi, canon sort of gives me more gay vibes, and my projections want to make him some flavour of aro or ace… could be anything, really.

Now gender, I have a bit more personal experience with, so let’s see. Quentin, as I said, 100% trans. Trans guy, top surgery yes, bottom surgery no. He/him pronouns, 100% masc, because it makes me happy. Francis and Danny… honestly Daniel’s the blandest white guy in the comics, and I still haven’t totally figured out how I want to interpret him, but right now I’m gonna go with cis. Very securely so. As in he’d have no problem presenting feminine for fun, but he’s definitely a guy. Francis I usually make cis too, but there’s more flexibility there. He could be trans too. If I did go for it in a verse, I’d actually probably make him intersex, just for fun. Or nonbinary, that works too. He can have a little gender confusion, as a treat.

And that’s all the thoughts I can give you on this rn. Hope you enjoy? (is that what you say in this situation? I have no idea) I’d also love to hear people’s hcs on any of the three tbh (:
