to me there's a kind of bonus meta horror in the bristlefrost's death 'only love' scene where like. ok discussion of misogyny in the series has shifted a bit since then but you know how a few years ago people's main gripe used to be that after completing their arcs female characters would lose their personality and fade into the background to fulfill the generic role of 'mother'? and you also know how bristlefrost's personality and focus began to shift and diminish halfway through the arc where out of nowhere she suddenly reciprocated rootspring's feelings and was rushed into a poorly written romance arc? yeah well there's something really chilling (though not in a way that is in any way tonally intentional. in fact kind of the direct opposite of what the erins were going for and i think i would feel differently about it if her relationship with rootspring was not so uncompelling and short lived until this point) about how in her final moments before her existence ceases and she is denied her afterlife the visions she sees are of romance and love and rootspring and babies. just a total loss of individuality into generic warrior cats love interest and mother. to not be feeling for yourself at the end of it all but what you bring to another character. to just kind of embody the status quo of your series and fade away.

the worst part of orv is that no matter what kim dokja company does, they will never be able to save kim dokja. like they could isekai the smartest most capable being into orv, they could try to do anything but it wouldnt work, because kdj is the oldest dream.

without the oldest dream, the world as they know would fall apart, and so no matter how much they try kdj splitting is inevitable.

no matter what, kdjcom has to endure then scenarios, go through everything, and then kdj would HAVE to split into 51/49 and hsy and yjh would have to spend eternity writing and uploading orvvv

even if any of us isekai into orv they will never be able to save kdj because even if WE know the future and want to change the epilogue we still cannot do anything about it, because of this exact scenario. after all, we’re unsure if we truly are a kdj fragment, or just a normal person wishing to be one.

finished my torchwood rewatch yesterday and now i'm back in 2014 and gwen and jack's dynamic and parallels are living rent free in my mind

Watched ark episode 1. Pretty animation. Absolutely baffling tone. Super strange to have SO much focus on animal behaviour and conditioning and then have plucky animal side kicks who don't act like real animals. Falls into the infuriating trope where a character is stuck in an endless trolley problem where the main tracks are thousands of innocent (but nameless) characters and pulling the lever kills one (named character) mass murder. Who also has slave pits and feeds people to dinosaurs. She literally poisons this guy and then takes a moment to gloat that he is now paralyzed and will be for a few hours (turns out to be like two minutes) but won't die. And then intentionally get a bunch of other bad guys killed. But she very intentionally left this dude alive after seeing that he, again, keeps slaves and feeds them to dinosaurs. And she left him alive like. On purpose. And also now he wants to kill her more than anything in the world. So like. He's obviously the major antagonist for the remainder of the series and I can't watch any more of it, because if I do, I will never be able to move past "and we would not be here if she had simply not decided to leave that guy alive despite visibly being willing to kill other people immediately thereafter" and thus I will not be watching episode 2
