Cycling Wear Market: Key Players and Competitive Landscape
The global cycling wear market size is expected to reach USD 7.88 billion by 2027, according to a new report by Grand View Research, Inc., expanding at a CAGR of 4.6% from 2020 to 2027. Cycling wear has been gaining increasing traction among the consumers on account of rise in awareness related to health and fitness worldwide. This is expected to boost the demand for the bicycle and subsequently drive the cycle wear demand over the forecast period.
Moreover, with more and more people moving to urban areas, modern public and private transportation systems are getting over strained. For the residents of metro cities, especially office workers and students, cycles present a cheap and convenient way to navigate through busy streets and long traffic jams. In some cities, public transportation infrastructure simply isn't that good to be called, so for them bicycles are a good way as a travelling option from one place to other.
Many prominent companies in the cycle related product manufacturing are coming up with new products for the enthusiasts. For instance, Rapha, a cycle product manufacturer, recently launched a new turbo- specific clothing range for the indoor cycling. These clothing range includes sleeveless t-shirts, core cargo shorts, and indoor training towel, which will be effective in sweat reduction.

Asia Pacific Cycling Wear Market Increasing Cycling Participation and Fitness Enthusiasm
Cycling wear such as cycling jerseys, shorts, arm warmers, gloves, eyewear, and shoes are gaining popularity due to the growing trend of cycling as a fitness activity and means of recreation in the region. The increasing participation in road cycling and mountain biking across Asia Pacific countries is fueling the demand for advanced cycling-specific apparel and accessories. Additionally, comfort, breathability, moisture-wicking properties help reduce body temperature and keep riders cool and dry while cycling, thereby driving the preference for technical cycling wear over regular clothes.
The Asia Pacific cycling wear market is expected to surpass US$ 1,388.6 million by the end of 2028, in terms of revenue, exhibiting a CAGR of 9.0% during the forecast period (2021 to 2028).

These players are focusing on expanding their product portfolios and boosting online presence through e-commerce platforms and social media campaigns to target the growing customer base in the region. The increasing number of Asia Pacific Cycling Wear Market Growth events and promotions by governments as well as cycling clubs to encourage use of bicycles for commute and exercise present significant growth opportunities for players in the Asia Pacific cycling wear market. Moreover, large brands are investing in strategic partnerships with smaller regional brands and establishing offshore manufacturing units to expand footprint across local cycling wear markets in Asia Pacific countries. Market Drivers: The rapidly growing popularity of cycling as an active lifestyle sport among millennials and generation Z due to health, fitness and environmental benefits is a major factor driving the Asia Pacific cycling wear market. Furthermore, growing cycling infrastructure development including dedicated bike lanes, routes and parks by regional governments is encouraging recreational cycling and boosting the sales of cycling-specific clothing and accessories. Market Restraints: High costs of advanced technical cycling wear compared to regular sportswear limit the sales potential for premium and performance products in price-sensitive markets. Additionally, availability of low-cost alternatives restricts the growth of established brands in developing countries.
Segment Analysis: Cycling wear in the Asia Pacific market can be broadly categorized into three segments - bicycle clothing, bicycle accessories and bicycle parts. Bicycle clothing dominates the market as the expenditure on cycling apparel is higher compared to other segments. Cycling shorts, jerseys, base layers etc. see huge demand from recreational as well as professional cyclists. There is a stir amongst the locals. Market goods are gathered up and carried away as tiny droplets begin to fall from the sky.
The cycle is coming to a close, dark clouds heralding the arrival of deadly rain. Marbles panics a little - finding a shelter of her own is out of the question. There is no time to spare. She turns to the tribe elders and pleads to take refuge with them.
They do not trust her... but the guest has merely started her work on the spears, and her services are still needed. Spike and Sage exchange rushed whispers, out of Marbs' earshot. Surely they won't let her die out here in the rain?
Indeed, they turn back to her to share the good news. The brown one waves their hand, inviting her to follow. "Come with us" they say, and not a minute too soon. The ground shakes under the weight of oncoming rain with a deafening rumble. Marbles is one of the last to come inside, the heavy shelter gate is closed right behind her. For all the destructive potential at her hands, they've decided she is worth the risk.
The shelter is unlike any other she's seen before - tidy, furnished, well maintained. And big. So, so big.
Orange lanterns dot the ceiling, dimly illuminating the main entrance hall. From there, smaller corridors branch off to the storage and lodging areas. In the middle - a nice resting place for guests, with fabric mats on the ground and beautifully decorated pipes above. Marbles looks around to admire the view. From where she stands, the shelter looks like a maze.
There is a wall in the main hall that is fully covered in vulture masks. Some of them show cracks, circular holes where the spear had been skilfully lodged into a beast's head. Yet most of them are in perfect condition, good as new. Marbles wonders why they're displayed here, instead of being used for fending off other predators. Perhaps they're sold to other tribes, or the right to wear them must be earned first. One thing is certain - this merchant tribe is thriving.
The chief escorts the slugcat guest inside, and signs for her to wait in the common area. Marbles settles down on the cozy mats, waiting patiently for a sleeping cell to be assigned to her...

Roland - AP-7 Jet Phaser
"... Most people know Roland Corporation for one of two reasons: One; for its amazing synthesizers and drum machines spanning several decades. Two; as the parent company of Boss, the biggest effects brand on the planet. Some pedal enthusiasts are unaware that Roland itself made pedals—good ones!
For a time in the ‘70s, Boss and Roland intermingled with one another, with Roland choosing to slap the Boss name on certain effects (CE-1, DM-1, DB-5) and its own name on the rest, even though some of this gear shared similar enclosures, and even though some pedals were branded as one company, but as the evolution of the other company’s innovations (such as the Boss CE-1 being a standalone Roland Jazz Chorus effect). I’m here to talk about perhaps the most unsung vintage Roland piece; the AP-7 Jet Phaser.
For reasons unbeknownst, Roland excelled at ensconcing a stellar (oftentimes dirt) circuit within the confines of another, larger pedal and releasing the non-dirt part as a standalone model. One such example is the AD-50 Double Beat fuzz wah, containing an absolutely disgusting fuzz circuit yet releasing the AW-10 Wah Beat.
The Jet Phaser is just such a circuit, combining phaser with, well . . . “Jet.” Much like the fuzz section from the Double Beat is—by virtue of naming conventions—a form of “beat,” “Jet” refers to an absolutely screaming distortion effect that sits in front of a juicy phaser circuit—the same one found within the AP-2 Phaser.
This highly-adapable Jet circuit transforms the mild mannered phaser into a pulverizing throb, jumping out of the mix with some serious propulsion. Larry Graham of Sly and the Family Stone famously used one, as did Ernie Isley of the famous brothers, on “Who’s That Lady?.” In fact, that thick, viscous fuzz you hear on that cut’s leads is the characteristic Jet sound, and has been one of the most quietly sought-after lead tones in history.
The Jet side of the circuit has no analog in today’s pedal market, it’s a curious piece of circuit, featuring equal parts discrete semiconductors and monolithic op-amps. A rotary switch on the face of the unit selects between four forms of Jet and two of Phase. Switching between the Jet settings yields different tonal compounds, cycling between gain stages, a notch filter and more. All of this is controlled by one master Jet knob, which offers varying intensity rather than a simple volume. On all Jet settings, the phaser is integrated; no configuration offers an isolated Jet section.
On the phaser side, we have an eight-stage FET-based phaser with a Resonance control. As far as vintage offerings are concerned, eight stages—the MXR phaser line of the 45, 90 and 100 offers two, four and six stages respectively—is quite a feat. With the added Resonance control, the phaser section can actually give your amp a little bit of a nudge at the peaks.
Much like the Maestro PS-1A (and B), the Jet Phaser offers a Fast/Slow footswitch that comes in the form of . . . an actual footswitch instead of clunky organ rockers. Maestro’s model offers ramping between speeds if you switch it on the fly; difficult if you’re not wearing pointy heels or cowboy boots, so the ramping feature wasn’t a tactfully expressive performance tool. The Jet Phaser solves all this by offering a Fast/Slow switch and letting you set your slow speed with a knob (the “Fast” setting is just this same knob turned all the way up). When switching between the two speeds, the rate gradually descends to the desired level.
Finally, I would be remiss if I didn’t include my all-time favorite effects-adjacent video—Larry Graham absolutely shredding on a Jet Phaser. ..."

Thoughts on modern fashion?
Also how would muggle Walburga Black dress?
Oh boy, did I share some thoughts lol. But nothing really on any particular trend or brand. I've rambled on enough but happy to discuss specific trends and brands too.
Fashion is a visual medium that encapsulates culture, class, politics, gender, and various facets of identity. It exists at the intersection of art and consumerism, serving as both a form of self-expression and a market-driven product. We pick clothes that we like and feel express ourselves but we are also told what to like and what to purchase by large corporations who see us as numbers in a stock portfolio and not as individuals.
While fashion has often been dismissed as frivolous, it is fundamentally intertwined with our identities, allowing us to communicate who we are as individuals and as members of society. Fashion is a nuanced and personal expression that reflects social change, political beliefs, and aesthetic values, making it a powerful lens through which we can examine the evolving roles of individuals and communities in the public sphere.
As a consumer good, the demand for clothing is at an all-time high, with fast fashion emerging as a significant environmental concern. The industry contributes to the proliferation of plastic waste, with low-quality garments often ending up in landfills and on beaches. Moreover, the production of such high quantities of clothing raises serious concerns over human rights violations associated with the exploitation of cheap labor.
It can feel like a losing battle these days to find a good outfit that lasts a long time and is affordable. We compromise our values when we shop fast fashion but few of us have an alternative choice.
Today, using fashion as a clear class distinction has become increasingly challenging. Even millionaire influencers often choose to wear inexpensive clothing from brands like Shein and websites like Amazon, favoring mass-produced items over bespoke garments tailored specifically to their bodies. This shift reflects a broader trend where the sign of wealth is no longer measured by the quality or craftsmanship of clothing but rather by the sheer volume of items one owns.
Even brands that used to signify quality have cheapened their production. Levi jeans are not the same quality denim they are famous for.
A truly well-made purse, like many classic accessories, should be designed to last a lifetime, with craftsmanship that withstands the wear and tear of daily life. Ideally, an investment in such a piece would mean living in and growing with it, allowing it to become a part of one’s personal history. Yet, in today’s culture of disposable fashion, we see a different approach: closets overflowing with countless handbags, each one picked up for a season and quickly discarded in favor of the next trend.
This excess not only dilutes the value of individual items but also fosters a cycle of constant consumption, where style becomes transient and connection to one’s belongings fleeting. Instead of cherishing a few high-quality pieces, the modern consumer is encouraged to accumulate—a shift that ultimately transforms what could be an investment in artistry or utility (we do need to carry things with us throughout the day) into a revolving door of fleeting fashion trends and hoarding.
NOW FINALLY, WALBURGA
Walburga Black would never be caught wearing the same thing as anyone else. Unlike modern influencers who shop off the rack or online, her style is rooted in old-fashioned tradition and exclusivity. She remains one of the last true patrons of couture, frequenting designer boutiques where her measurements are kept on file and each piece is custom-fitted to perfection. Her wardrobe is filled with furs, bespoke pieces, and timeless luxury brands like Chanel. Walburga travels to Paris and Italy to meet designers in person, ensuring her attire is as exclusive as her social circle.
She loves a good hat. She loves dark colors to contrast with her pale skin. She wears Dior red lipstick. She loves a well-cut blazer and she can run in stilettos (not that she would. A lady never runs).
She would consider Kris Jenner’s taste in fashion gaudy and utterly beneath her. Because try as they might, the Kardashian cannot escape the aesthetic of flashy, social-climbing “new money” and it would be an affront to Walburga’s refined sensibilities and deep-rooted aristocratic standards.
(and my work is cutting wifi off for some reason so I'm publishing this without inspirational photos so I can go home)

(Cyber!Earth AU: where the Autobots get a Guide. Of sorts. Chickadee, a half-fae, attempts to write a list of advice.)
What are we but of rage and hunger? Even in the most desolate places, life still exists. It is a testament of will and persistence even in the face of the impossible or improbable.
Many Things that slept have now reawakened, but the wiser ones fear three things. The sea at storm. A night with no moon. The rage of a gentle Man. Do not be fooled by this new metallic terrain, nor the luminous waters. Some adages hold true, no matter the circumstances.
What is more damning than despair? More uplifting than hope? Rage and grief are born from love. It will drive the most courageous as well as the darkest of acts.
Take time to be kind to someone or something. The world is already pitiless. Allow yourself to be, despite it.
You will have options. Whether or not you will like them is out of your hands. Reframe it accordingly. Perhaps there may be more alternatives underneath.
Collect rain water when it falls. It is the most reliable to use. Fresh and rejuvenated from its cycle. Very helpful in many Aspects. It is a decent bargaining tool, especially for new magicians and experienced artificers and those too far away from this realm.
Beware the forests and their gilded branches. Leave offerings of treasured items before entering. Jewels and food are fine. Personal tokens are better. Do not stray from the paths, or it will take you as a gift as someone treasured you once.
Be cautious when passing fields. Battles have been waged upon them. Some are bitter and will attempt to swallow you whole. Corpses should be buried, not freely walking about.
Keep your faith close. Guard your Self well. Do not enter into bargains with things you can not or should not give away or unwilling to part.
Memories are precious. Savor them. Nurture them. Grip them tight. Gently kiss them before letting them go. Or kill them quickly. Choose the right one well.
What is life without fear? The terror that claws inside your throat? It is a necessary component of life and growth. Same as pain. Wield it carefully.
We all hunger for something.
Do not expose your heart so easily. It sings true. Overwrought and overcome with emotions. Easy to play. A natural thing to covet a star-bright soul. Masks are very necessary. Get full coverage for the most protection. Hone your expression to match your metal. Carve it deep. Or ask the trees for a boon.
Be on your guard when approaching the trees. Each one has a particular trait. Like calls to like. Their eyes upon your face may bring a Court's interest.
You are being Watched. There is no escape.
Take careful consideration of Allegiances and Alliances. The far more bloodthirsty will demand a share of your vanquished Enemies. Summer and Winter have their Revels and will demand participation. Brush up on your dancing skills.
The Night Markets sell everything and anything. Do NOT venture when the moon is away.
There is a method to this madness. Learn the flow. Sink into its depths or wade through the currents.
There is no method to this madness. Improvise. Adapt. Overcome.
It is excellent that you wear your own Allegiance upon your frames. Hold steadfast to it, for Others will attempt to lure you away.
The many ways to love are not mutually exclusive on the ways to kill a god.
Your dreams may reveal things forgotten or lost. Take caution.
Your dreams are very susceptible to outside influence. Take caution.
You are both prey and predator. Nothing but an animal when stripped of that veneer of civility. Remember that well and you will find your footing.
Treat the birds well. Especially the corvids. They remember kindnesses. They remember cruelties. Heed their warnings.
Thy Good Neighbor, are ye Friend or Foe? Both or neither?
You are being deceived. Trust your instinct. It is far harder to fool.
Listen very well. There are Signs.
There are dragons, and then there are Dragons. Keep the Dragon's company nearby. She is a daughter of the exalted Sun. Her flesh kissed by its merciless flames. Her soul is charred by the scorching desert. Few will be willing to cross her.
Teach your children well. Impart the necessary lessons. It is best to learn now when it can be blunted rather than later to a craftier foe.
Even gods can be tricked. Even gods can die.

The Shape Of Things
I have a lot of fun during “blogging season” each semester. For 12 weeks I take deep dives each and every day to find relevant topics ripe for discussion, with the added challenge of somehow finding a common thread to share to all of my classes. Most of the time I am able to do that.
And then there are times like today in which the subject has marketing legs of its own, but offers a few chuckles too. Because why not? We all need to laugh a bit.Like when I read recently that socialite Kim Kardashian was expanding her line of Skims shapewear to include products for men. Feel free to chuckle if you like.
Now men’s underwear is a funny subject. It has long been said that women buy the majority of men’s underwear to begin with, and that men only buy their own underwear for a small portion of their years on earth, leaving that duty to Mom and then wives and girlfriends. We’re bad like that. Lazy. Trying to get every ounce of value possible from them.
And why not? No one sees them.
Men’s underwear has long been a non-starter when it comes to fashion and all that. The pilot episode of Breaking Bad showed Walter White in his signature tighy-whities out in the desert, he being the archetype of suburban middle-class manhood. We expected it.
But shapewear? Isn’t that newspeak for a girdle? Sara Blakely made her billions by reimagining the girdle, as well as its predecessor the corset, as shapewear. They all achieve the same thing, and ladies bought Spanx by the armful to help conceal bulging realities. I bet there isn’t a woman alive who doesn’t one or more of them tucked away in the dresser.
I know. It’s a cultural ideal point. Our culture chides women into fits of guilt if they don’t maintain the appearance of their girlish youth. Guys, though, are cut a lot of slack, with even the “Dad bod” being popular. You know. Love handles and the inability to see one’s belt buckle (and maybe their toes as well).
Kardashian is not the first to try to break into the men’s market, because Spanx has had men’s items for several years now. I saw them once at the local Dillards, gathering dust. I don’t know a single guy who would wear a man girdle.
I do, however, confess to having several base layer long-sleeve shirts that effectively accomplish the same thing. All of my cycling jerseys fit much the same way too. If you accidentally get the wrong size, you wind up feeling like a sausage.
While Kardashian is hoping that men buy her new undies, I’m guessing that it will be women buying them for the men in their life. “Here, honey. Try these on. Your old ones are starting to look a little ragged anyway.”
Then again, maybe Kardashian can usher in a new era of underwear-buying men, guys who care as much about their undies and overall appearance as women do. Instead of having to hold it in whenever trying to impress the ladies, you can just stand there confidently knowing that your stretchy skivvies are doing it all for you.
I do think that the advertising for products like these needs to change, though. They always show studly male models wearing them, but they are guys who don’t need them in the first place. You know, like those Peloton ads showing fit and trim models pounding the pedals.
They need to show before-and-after pics of rather plump men all of a sudden looking pretty good, like they just graduated from basic training. That might sell more boxers and briefs. I for one don’t want to look at a pro athlete sporting these duds. He gets paid to be fit. I get paid to teach. I don’t have to be ripped to stand in front of a classroom, or type blogs.
Sorry, Kim. I’m good over here. Like most men, I’ve probably got a few good years left in what I own. But if someone wants to gift me some new drawers, I’ll gladly accept them.

RICK OWENS AND HIS INFLUENCE ON YOUNG ADULTS AND THEIR FASHION JOURNEYS
The fashion industry is forever evolving, inspiring a new generation of young teens and adults to express their individuality through the language of clothes. In the midst of the fashion industry, many people have shared their love for clothing by designing and creating new pieces that can influence a group of disciples for years to come. Rick Owens and Michèle Lamy are two influential figures who completely changed the fashion industry with their intricate designs and unique silhouettes whilst helping introduce many people, of all different backgrounds, to avant-garde fashion. The fashion industry continues to fluctuate in terms of what is and what is not popular due to the rapidity of trend cycles and the gentrification of fashion. Rick Owens has gained a lot of traction in recent years due to widespread popularity on social media such as TikTok, Instagram and Pinterest. This wide-spread popularity can be attributed to numerous celebrity endorsements and collaborations. I interviewed two Rick Owens enthusiasts: Bailey Anderes and Chase Walker comparing the influence Rick Owens has had on their respective fashion journeys. Walker, a 23 year old reseller from Detroit and Anderes, a 19 year old Fashion Student from New York, both have different journeys in finding their own route in the fashion industry, however they both share a common admiration for the brand.
When did you first get into the brand Rick Owens?:
Walker: “When I was about 16-17 I saw Kanye wearing this Rick parka and ever since then it’s been on my radar.”
Anderes: “Around sophomore year. So about 4 years ago.”
What inspired you to get into fashion, specifically Rick Owens?:
Walker: “Back in 2016, I was in several online communities, mostly on Reddit and Kanyetothe. This is when we were coming out of the Yeezus era and I saw a lot of affluent people wearing Rick such as A$AP Rocky and Kanye. This era is when a lot of people were getting into Rick because of celebrities. It wasn’t until 2019 that I actually started buying Rick because I had started downsizing by selling my thrifted clothing on Instagram. Then, when COVID happened, I lost my job and used my stimulus checks to invest in my business, importing and dealing with designer goods, mostly Rick.”
Anderes: “I think the dark, drape, and brutal style is super cool. Seeing my dad wear suits early on definitely made me want to look fashionable”.
Do you think the location of where you live affects your fashion sense?
Walker: “Detroit is a fashion desert. Short answer, yes”.
Anderes: “Absolutely. I grew up in Wisconsin. And that’s honestly what pushed me into Instagram and websites, so I began seeing and reading about designers there.”
“One thing about Rick is that it has such longevity because it’s the only brand in the public eye that is “dark wear adjacent”
Rick Owens has gained an insane amount of popularity in the recent months, why do you think that is and do you think gatekeeping the brand has aided its exclusivity?
Walker: “Definitely has to do with the Converse and Birkenstock collab, Rappers like Gunna and Playboi Carti and Tyrone Dylan’s influence on the brand with Kiss Heels and the more glam look also have had a major influence. One thing about Rick is that it has such longevity because it’s the only brand in the public eye that is “dark wear adjacent”.
Anderes: “Yes. Gatekeeping Rick Owens definitely would allow them to be less popular, however with collaborations with Converse and Veja, they end up hitting a lower price tier bracket so it’s more accessible. Also gatekeeping Rick is still a thing, there are a lot of collectors who don’t like how popular it’s getting so they tend to stray away from giving out a lot of info”.
When a brand gets really popular in mainstream media and fashion, it is inevitable that fakes start to appear in the market more frequently. Have you ever bought any fakes?
Walker: I’ve bought so many fakes by accident. I think it’s weird if you wear it. Money is out there, there are very little things you cannot afford when it comes to clothes. If you have $200 but the piece you want is $500, just wait until your next paycheck. Counterfeiters don’t intend to fool the buyers, they are selling to a customer. If you really care about the piece, you’ll look diligently to make sure what you’re buying is real”.
Anderes: “Unbeknownst to me yes, I also was on Canal Street and got a fake Prada hat cause it was funny”.
Do you think the price tag of some of Rick Owens pieces are worth it? In terms of quality and honing your personal style?
Walker: “Short answer: yes, value is a complicated concept. I can buy a Gildan shirt from Walmart and as soon as I walk out the door the value depreciates, however I can buy a piece and as time goes by I can get back the money I paid, or more, if I resell it”.
Anderes: “Retail? No. Resell? Definitely not. You have to be patient to find a good deal nowadays. I used to have a lot of Rick Owens. I collected a lot from SS02 and I was able to pick it up for pretty cheap a few years ago. Now, not so much”.
Rick Owens has created such a big community that truly brings people in the fashion world together. There’s a private discord, accessed only by invite, that allows enthusiasts to have an open discussion with other archivists and devotees to the brand where one is able to chat, share their newest pieces, and oftentimes sell to each other. Owens, a bi-sexual man, has also used the brand as a way to blur the lines of gender steryotypes (creating the famous “KISS Heels” that many hetoro-sexual men are now wearing). I asked Walker if he thought Owens himself has had an influence in breaking these gender norms:
Walker: “Yes but not really. A lot of men who are wearing Kiss heels are some of the most homophobic and bigoted people, but they dont even realize the meaning behind the piece. You cannot look at these muses Rick has and not think this isn’t a little queer. Some people are just so close-minded and blinded by their own delusion that they’ll wear anything hype even if they don’t support it. Rick operates in such a peculiar space, being a designer endorsed by rappers and hype while simultaneously androgyny and femininity”.
Anderes and Walker are both different in age, style and location, however they both share one thing in common and that is their self expression through fashion and their work. Walker a reseller and Anderes a writer both hone their experiences in the fashion industry to continue utilizing their craft in order to evolve.
As fashion keeps evolving, Owen’s brand will too, and currently he is in the midst of releasing another collaboration with Converse. As Anderes said, people are still gatekeeping Rick Owens, but with his continuation of collaborations and releases that appeal to the masses, the brand seems as if it will continue to be a staple on social media and in everyone’s wardrobe.
“Rick operates in such a peculiar space, being a designer endorsed by rappers and hype while simultaneously androgyny and femininity”

I'll preface this with Clark had no idea he was going to die when he did (murder tends to work like that) and he certainly had no idea he would come clawing his way out of his own coffin thirty years later. Any investing, any sort of nets he set up for himself in certain areas that would prove useful later were a mixture of luck and his typical 'Have a Plan A through D ready at all times' personality. I'll also remind everyone I'm a dirty little oc with that exists in the shared Alien/Bl*de Runner universe (with sprinkles of other futuristic franchises like D:BH)
By 2017, Clark was already dipping his hands quite heavily into the business world. His interest is genuine but there's also that beginning realization of knowing it's a necessity as well. Though nothing close to the noteworthy stockholder he'd be later, he takes out a small share in several up and coming corporations as well the Tyrell corp. This continues through the years with varying scandals, etc and an every shifting market. He moves his money around with purpose and really learns the ins and outs of the financial world. Cyberlife also comes into play at some point and this continues up until his murder in 2024 at the age of 50.
When he comes back, he pretty much goes into overdrive rebuilding and has more or less gone 0-60mph immediately and just stays there. I'm talking this man practically accomplishes more in 20 or so years than most would in two lifetimes. He barely sleeps, he's got no other thought. He's just fully focused on establishing himself and rebuilding his web. He becomes a notable stockholder (under numerous aliases) for quite a number of the large corps at the time including the Wallace and later Weyland Industries. By 2075 onward, he's practically Br*ce Wayne on steroids in terms of wealth and connection in the business world.
The 'tl;dr' of this all is Clark has consistently been there for the big technological life boom ( and space travel, etc). He's invested in it, encouraged it, help it grow in his more influential years all while KNOWING it was a bad idea. This is a man that was born in fucking '74. He lived through the boom of the Internet, social media, AI, etc. And he lived through it all in a capitalistic society. Anyone with a brain would know at that point what giving Man any semblance of power to create life would mean.
He watches his planet die. He watches market crash after market crash. He watches food shortages, wars, etc. If you live long enough, you notice the trends and notice how it's all just one big cycle and he gets very tired of living cycle after cycle very fast. That's the biggest theme of 'canon' timeline that's lost since I play him vaguely modern for the majority of the RPC. It's that fatigue. That wear and tear of being an anachronism, of seeing the same mistakes made over and over and at some point he stops taking joy in watching men realize their folly. He's just there to pick up the pieces and continue existing as he does until someone else comes along and does the same bullshit all over again.
That and also I lose the theme of him getting to kiss replicants and androids but that's a whole other monster.
#cw long post#(;hc)#less in depth hc and more just like. motivations and VIBES ykno#i was gonna wiki link all the corps but im lazY#just know they're all run by stinky fucking white men who do stupid fucking shit#that has insane repercussions for society later down the line#also i got insane little Wallace hcs since Officer K is also a ryan gosling fc but thats a ramble no one wants to hear dfjhbgd#im not sure if Wallace corp would even be arOUND by the 2060s#just because of the bullshit that happened in 2049 but at the same time. capitalism really uhhhh do be a thing and i imagine#until there was a full on replicant rebellion that shit would stay rocking#but who knows i havent read the books im ngl. there's supposed to be a short series set in 2099 so#ig ill adjust his canon franchise timeline bits accordingly

Is an HMO the Best Choice for Your Student Rental Investment?
The UK’s student rental market offers exciting opportunities for landlords, with HMOs (Houses in Multiple Occupation) often standing out as a promising option. High demand, consistent income, and flexible management styles make HMOs appealing, but they come with specific challenges. Let’s dive into the realities of owning and managing a student HMO to help you decide if it’s the right fit for your goals.
Why HMOs Are a Smart Option for Student Rentals
HMOs provide an effective way to maximise rental income by letting out multiple rooms to individual tenants, creating a steady revenue stream. With universities continually drawing new students each year, demand for affordable shared housing remains high in many UK cities. For landlords, this ensures a dependable tenant base with predictable turnover cycles. Students often prioritise cost-effective housing over luxury, making HMOs a practical investment that requires less emphasis on high-end finishes or premium décor. In addition, the shared accommodation model often supports long-term profitability, particularly in areas with limited rental options.
Unique Challenges of Managing a Student HMO
While the benefits are clear, managing a student HMO involves navigating some unique obstacles. Increased tenant turnover means landlords need to regularly advertise vacancies, screen tenants, and prepare the property for new arrivals. The shared nature of these properties often leads to higher levels of wear and tear, especially in communal spaces such as kitchens and bathrooms. Keeping up with local council requirements and strict HMO licensing laws ensures the property meets safety and regulatory standards, but it demands ongoing attention. Additionally, landlords often find themselves dealing with inexperienced tenants unfamiliar with rental responsibilities, which can result in disputes, property misuse, or late payments.
Why Self-Managing an HMO Appeals to Landlords
Many landlords choose to self-manage their student HMOs because it allows direct oversight of every aspect of their property. By eliminating property management fees, they keep a larger share of rental income. Building a personal relationship with tenants helps landlords resolve issues quickly and create a positive rental experience. Having hands-on control over maintenance and compliance ensures the property meets high standards. However, self-management requires landlords to dedicate significant time to inspections, repairs, and tenant queries. Remaining on top of evolving HMO regulations and managing tenant conflicts demand effort, organisation, and patience.
How Professional Property Managers Simplify HMO Operations
For landlords who value convenience and efficiency, hiring a property manager provides expert assistance. Property managers handle day-to-day responsibilities such as tenant communication, repair coordination, and regulatory compliance. Their experience in tenant screening reduces the risk of renting to unreliable individuals. Access to professional contractors allows for prompt and effective maintenance, keeping tenants satisfied. While management fees lower overall profits, landlords benefit from reduced stress and more time to focus on other ventures. It’s essential, however, to research and select a reliable manager, as poor service affects tenant satisfaction and property upkeep.
Factors to Consider Before Choosing an HMO for Students
When deciding if a student HMO aligns with your goals, consider the level of involvement you’re prepared to maintain. If you enjoy a hands-on approach and have time to dedicate, self-management offers financial and operational control. Alternatively, professional management provides a stress-free solution for those with multiple properties or limited availability. Evaluate the demand for student housing in your chosen area, ensuring the location aligns with tenant needs such as proximity to universities and transport links. Weighing these factors against your budget and time commitments ensures you make an informed decision.
Ready to Make Your Investment Work for You?
Investing in a student HMO offers the potential for excellent returns, but success depends on balancing benefits with challenges. Whether you prefer direct management or professional support, understanding the unique requirements of this market helps you create a profitable and sustainable strategy. FAQs
What is the average tenant turnover for student HMOs in the UK?
Tenant turnover typically occurs annually, aligning with academic terms. However, some students extend contracts over the summer for convenience. Offering flexible tenancy agreements may attract a broader range of tenants.
Do student HMOs require additional insurance?
Yes, landlords should consider specialised HMO insurance, which provides coverage for multiple tenants under one roof. This policy protects against risks such as property damage, legal disputes, and liability claims.
How do I prepare an HMO for student tenants?
Ensure the property meets all HMO licensing requirements, including fire safety measures and properly maintained communal spaces. Providing practical furnishings such as desks, storage, and durable appliances increases tenant satisfaction.
