I got an idea for a Mondstadt Monster AU while watching Dogs in Love 2. Mostly based around the Wine Family because of course it is.

Which AU Would You Guys Prefer...?

I'm genuinely curious about writing a Supernatural AU for the Ragbros but I'm torn on who to make what. I might go ahead and write both but I'm curious as to which one is more interesting to you personally.

I've usually seen Vampire Diluc and Werewolf Kaeya and I can see why. I can already imagine Crepus dealing with an intruder but Kaeya goes full werewolf and deals with the intruder quickly since they weren't expecting a werewolf in the house.

When it comes to Werewolf Ragnvindrs, I can see Kaeya hearing movement and seeing a large red wolf going past his room and him being frozen in fear.

Both ideas are enticing. Which would you guys prefer? Or do you like both ideas as much as I do?

imagine if ursa the drake were a vampire instead and bit diluc before crepus saved him and got killed. then diluc becomes a vampire and has to deal with his grief and also newfound bloodlust and pain. he goes to fontaine on his travels and is hosted by the duke, wriothesley, who happens to be a werewolf. neither of them know the truth about each other but they think there’s something peculiar about each other, and wriothesley isnt home often so diluc can get away with being a creature of night for a while. but during the full moon diluc is hunting fatui 🩸at night and encounters a wolf, larger than any he’s encountered back home, and bearing a strange familiarity, even as the wolf attacks him and they fight. when dawn approaches, and wriothesley changes back, they look at each other with fresh eyes.

      long post on diluc’s reclusive tendencies & specific pain re: kaeya.

diluc’s persistent agony regarding kaeya’s secret, is not a petty refusal / inability to admit his own wrongs unless he gets to blame kaeya too.           it’s not even necessarily blame in the sense of deeming kaeya’s lies / deceit wrong. by now, he has accepted that the cards his little brother has been dealt necessitate deceit - even of him, especially of him. for a long time he wished he could not forgive it. now he’s grateful.

it’s the agony of knowing that to the one person who only ever saw him as him. who didn’t see ‘diluc ragnvindr’ as a concept, a thing to respond to the way one must to those with power & status.                        [ “please don’t lie, adelinde. you don’t have to lie. it’s okay-” “you are very dear to all of us, young master. please don’t fret.” & she’s not allowed to speak ‘out of turn’, to tell him how she feels, to be a real person to him--& it’s fine to her because this is a job. it was diluc’s private life. he has so many strangers in his private life- ] the only person who didn’t lie to him about the things that matter: who loved him without conditions.          crepus changed diluc.       kaeya changed for diluc - changed from a frightful boy who didn’t want anything into one who dared to hold his hand. but also, less positively, would be the one to apologise or take the blame not bc diluc ragnvindr but bc diluc my only friend who i love dearly please don’t leave. ( diluc’s guilt at seeing that fear would always turn them into a feedback loop of no i’m sorry’s. )

but now?

from the very start - especially to kaeya, he was only diluc ragnvindr.

to this day diluc doesn’t really know who the fuck he is, torn to & fro by everything everyone wanted of him; & all the ways he had to behave in order to get some kind of honesty out of the people who approached him. but he does know that the only times he felt... easiest, felt most like he was flowing from some point inside himself instead of hoisting himself into a corset held out to him by others... were always, & only, with kaeya.            because kaeya was awful, in many ways. he was mean, & cruel, & took to his vulnerabilities like a goddamn vampire - until crepus sat them both down & calmly explained that kaeya was taught by cruelty, & that he learned to be cruel to people he wanted to be close to. that it did not work that way here, that he would lose diluc if he continued to act like that-- & diluc, gullible little boy that he was, never ever saw any reason not to believe anyone. it didn’t make sense to his brain that words would be spoken that weren’t true. but you pick up on people’s feelings, too.

the boy who taught him the simple ways people lie, so he wouldn’t be taken advantage of so easily anymore. the boy who held his hand & laughed with him or shared his resentment at crepus’ conditional love - even if diluc’s was buried deep. kaeya... where diluc ragnvindr was a person instead of some kind of trophy. father wanted him to be excellent. the staff that fucking raised him wanted him to play the part required of him so they could play theirs, instead of begging for sincerity - he is only their job, only their distant most eligible bachelor, the uncrowned king, lord ragnvindr, diluc ragnvindr. he doesn’t fucking exist.            by now he cannot find himself at all anymore.

           the only one who looked at him &, instead of wanting the corset demanded the truth - who saw his vulnerabilities & his everything & engaged those instead... kaeya, who took to the real him like it was the only obvious thing. that orphaned boy was the only place in diluc’s world where he existed. & that wasn’t always comfortable, but it kept him aware - that he wasn’t the thing father made of him, even as he lost whatever the fuck else he might’ve been.

but they only got that close- every actual reason for them to be close, was that kaeya had to... he was just a target.

& now that, due to everything beyond kaeya as well as his confession, diluc’s literal ability to trust people is non-existent? he can’t talk to kaeya because he cannot believe a word out of his mouth - hates himself for wanting to trust blindly. he doesn’t want to hate blindly anymore either, but he’s so inherently... trusting. it’s one or the other; he must compensate so hard just to not feel like he’s selling himself cheaply again.      & he can’t. he’s too simple - his mind doesn’t work this way & neither does his heart. he loves, & he trusts, especially because there is nothing left to love or trust. & even when he knows people’s cruelty he just trusts them to be that way... there’s no point demanding insincerity from people. let them lie, if that’s what they’re like. if only they wouldn’t ask him to play a part too.

diluc’s,,, autistic & very, very kind. it just doesn’t click in his head. things pretending to be what they are not makes no natural sense. he cannot... abide by the white lies & not so white lies people tell. the truth, no matter how painful, is never a cruelty to him - but it is demanded of him to lie at every turn. little lord ragnvindr, etiquette. the perfect fucking gentleman, & nothing else.

he keeps kaeya at a distance because he knows how much he needs him still, how little he cares for being loved truly- because it’s not a real option & he’s had to live with that forever already. his own father did not love him - he’s used to it. & yet, if he yielded like he knows he will if kaeya insists on continuing the lie - it will also break what’s left of his heart.

                what distance continues to exist between them is because there was always distance, apparently, & diluc just no longer wishes to lie to himself. to have to. let everyone else; at least he won’t. let them be vapid & meaningless, & he to them - but not he to himself. if he is to find himself at all he cannot continue to be what people ask of him. all they give him is the negative space that can be filled in by the part he’s supposed to play. so then, he’ll simply not fill any of it in at all. he’s going to lie to himself again anyway; he cannot keep this up. but he wishes he could. & he tries so hard. & if he must be a cold, distant bastard to someone who’s already made it clear that they’re not... close, anyway. then why doesn’t he get to? everyone always cheats him. no-one ever cares - especially when they say they do. why does he have to keep allowing it? he just wants to find some way to speak to kaeya that won’t involve being lied to or humiliating himself -- blindly hating OR blindly trusting, & he cannot be anything but blind around him now. in general diluc finds it difficult to understand people. having no-one who speaks frankly with him does not help that in the slightest ( kaeya was the only one who taught him to see, not to play along ), so he’s just... isolating himself in hopes of being in the only company that won’t lead him astray.         but he can’t heal, either.

& kaeya can’t tell him the truth. so he can’t try to heal - which is ignoring the fact he quite likely doesn’t deserve to be healed by him. ( not unless kaeya decides otherwise. but that is exactly that sort of ‘kindness’ people would feign in his direction - play along with the delusional young master, don’t burst his bubble. that’s rude. if the young master says your his friend then you are. somehow that makes sense to them? it does. because they go home to their real families. it��s professionalism & apathy; their job. like a customer service smile. i love you. )

& if kaeya actually did speak plainly. he will be telling the only truth that isn’t too good to be true - he just.. knows he won’t be able to handle that. kaeya was the one thing that made diluc want to live, because he was the one thing that made it possible for him to exist within his own life. & now, all of that, is the same simple lie everyone’s always told him. & the only reasons he fell & falls for it is because there is something wrong with his mind that makes him gullible. a fool, forever.

p.s.: so in my portrayal, ‘gentleman diluc’ is fake as fuck & he doesn’t actually feel connected to anyone who he acts that way around. if he’s being seamlessly polite you know he doesn’t feel like a connection is even possible lmao so u get gentleman diluc bc that is all u want & he’s tired of asking for anything else.

Hi! I recently read your vampire au and I loved it! If it’s not too much trouble, could you tell me a bit more of the lore? Like what the significance of Diluc's star is and why Kaeya has one but wanted it enough to consider taking it from Diluc, why Diluc would be invisible on church grounds, did Diluc ever know Crepus was a vampire before The Incident, and why Kaeya keeps his hunter eye covered?

> the significance of the star

the star itself was added for a few reasons. i'm so obsessed with it in canon and with the potential implications of diluc wearing it but since we don’t know what it is exactly or why he wears it, i feel iffy about including in a non-au fic. also, because it’s a no vision au (just bc i have trouble mixing magic systems), i opted to get rid of delusions as well, but wanted to keep that aspect of a physical item changing hands.

the final reason also ties to its function and it is that a large source of inspiration for that fic is phantom blood. while i was still deciding on how exactly do write my fic, i was in part thinking of it as an au that was just the beginning of phantom blood—which for reference has a character become a vampire by putting on this mask that makes people vampires. the rest of it… in some ways i think could technically work for ragbros, if you changed pretty drastically all the emotional ties (which i would argue are the heart). the key thing is the physical item that turned someone into a vampire, which worked really well for keeping that aspect from before. also, i was still deciding if crepus was already a vampire or if he was gonna have them all do it together or something.

when it came to writing the fic, i changed my mind on this. i’m not quite sure i would say the star is a mandatory part of the process in that it does the turning, or at least part—if only because i dislike that and prefer it to just be between two people. instead, i started to think of it as a ceremonial piece of the process.

i personally like vampires turning people by drinking their blood and then having the person drink the vampire’s blood back, so the star could work to like do the cutting. in one direction, it’s practical bc the human person wouldn’t have fangs, and in the other, it’s entirely ceremonial (or also practical if the vampires don’t have fangs ig). it would work just as well with a knife or other sharp object or really just going in with the teeth!

then that way it also ties khaenri’ah into the vampiric lore—whether that’s bc they invented it in some quest for immortality or whatever, or bc they happened upon it very unfortunately, or some other reason, is totally up to you, though! i personally like they found it (and developed this process that added a physical trinket) and just happened to be unlucky but that’s just me!

because kaeya would have grown up in an environment that would be at least semi-saturated with vampires (or at least lore about them/a peripheral awareness of them. i’m not sure how much he directly watched or if it was mostly secondary effects that he saw. i don’t mind either way, to be entirely honest), i imagine he is familiar with the star ceremony (or its practical effect, if you prefer that!). but i also imagined teyvat as very… like maybe vampires exist in the folklore, but even if they do, i don’t think people are really dealing with them. like i didn’t really end up touching on it bc i didn’t want to be so forceful with it, but i’m a big fan of secret vampires versus everyone knows about vampires. but also that was basically irrelevant to this fic so popular view of vampires was not technically mentioned i think.

so when kaeya sees that star and knows what it does but also that crepus probably didn’t get it anywhere in teyvat, he assumes he brought it somehow—since he didn’t actually bring one with him (or at least not one they knew about; i.e., one he still has), he assumes it came in with him on accident. now whether he thinks it was literally stuck to something on his person or is more vaguely referring to accident, meh! maybe someone sent it with him and he didn’t know or… another explanation that i can’t think of, but suffice to say—if he is the only khaenri’ahn they know of, it only makes sense to him that crepus got it from him.

i’m not sure if what diluc says about it being from the fatui is true. totally up to you! generally speaking, i love making many lines maybe-lies and this is very much one where i had that in mind.

as for why he wants to take it from diluc… there are a few reasons. chief of which is that i do think both of them know very well (whether b/c he told them or they just assume correctly) that crepus wanted to take him with them (i.e., make them both vampires). probably when they got older so they could choose as adults, but he loved his sons and wanted them all to be together forever. even when he died, in my head, he still wanted diluc to do that for kaeya so they could be together and i do think diluc has at least offered.

and kaeya is ofc cognizant of that now, but he’s at a crossroads in terms of how he feels about it (or maybe he’s pretty decided, but a potential for a crossroads is there). because on the one hand, he totally wants to be with his brother, but on the other, he has a very implicit fear and distrust of vampires that was ingrained in him at a very young age (and not without good reason!). even if he can make an exception for diluc (and probably crepus), i’m not sure he could do that for anyone else, much less choose to take that on. he wants to do it in the sense that he wants to be with diluc and he wants to honor crepus’ wishes, but it goes against everything he believes.

this question came about yes because of kaeya’s crossroads in actual canon, but also because i’ve always been kinda curious about how death works in the game. not that i’ve done a whole bunch of research on it or even gone through to see what i’ve forgotten (and i totally should at some point, just wanted to mention before i get into this that i am probably totally missing stuff), and i know we meet ghosts in liyue and have hu tao’s whole story quest, but also it seems kinda... uncertain i guess? maybe unspecified. (which is i would say generally characteristic of how we get info in game which overall i actually really like.) like are these region-specific the way the regions’ relationships with their archon change? are they tied to the celestia-abyss thing? my impulse is to say no bc that doesn’t really seem like a thing celestia would have control over, but then we have immortal (or at least very old) khaenri’ahns which seems strange in regards to that. how would something like ascension (specifically the one vision holders can do) relate to this? especially if we consider the verticality of these relationships? to name just a few things that i will probably look up at some point, but the central question is if kaeya and crepus go to the same place if they die (assuming they go anywhere). and also how that relates to the theology & kaeya’s specific view of the theology as a khaenri’ahn. which again i have trouble addressing in non-au fics bc it’s so up in the air! so this was a way i could begin to ask that question, even if it’s not a perfect translation. like it changes to, would vampires go to the same place?, which is close enough for me. and then just how all of that affects his decision.

when i was brainstorming, i was also considering like that maybe he built up immunities, either to getting his blood drank or literally becoming a vampire. but i decided he already had plenty of reasons to not become a vampire that i liked better (personal disinterest, potential divine intervention, etc.) so i took it out. i think you can still see the echoes of that if you look but i hinted at new reasons for them. or at least gave them new reasons in my head that appeared on the page to various extents lmao.

in addition to that big one, i think there’s an element of wanting to test diluc (around blood, that is)—ironic considering what they discuss regarding his eye later, but him just wanting to check that diluc really is in control. what his motivations are in that, though... i struggle to say for certain too many good reasons. also i think a part of him does just want to get diluc in a situation where he's forced to listen and kaeya can tell him how he was hurt, not only physically but also by him kind-of (mostly) leaving. although i'm not sure if i can actually see him going through with that ;-; finally, there is maybe an element of taking it back, literally. if he feels guilty about it, he can physically acquire it from diluc, so that he can end it as much as he can alone.

and what i said about diluc keeping it from him but also offering it to him at an earlier point—i think that ties to how diluc didn’t exactly get a choice in the matter but also that he knows kaeya is iffy leaning no about it. also, his mind totally changed. not that i think he wants to leave kaeya in this sense, but he has come to recognize that it is unlikely kaeya could ever be fully okay with it.

ah see originally i had a line about this but it sort of didn’t fit anywhere nicely so i removed it! essentially it comes from normal stuff for vampires not working w religious iconography/spaces, which works really well here bc ofc mondstadt uses a lot of christian symbols and stuff and that seems pretty typical for vampires (at least vampires i’ve seen). basically, the church grounds were blessed so he can’t step on them, but the pathway was added later and they just never blessed it so he can walk on it fine. without this kinda convoluted explanation i didn’t touch on in the fic, idk maybe just the graves themselves are blessed. like, it’s very silly but just there being an invisible wall he cannot cross (and kaeya using that to his advantage) was a very fun visual while i was writing. as for kaeya letting him in, whether it is the vampire invitation rule or bc the gate was also blessed is up to you! or maybe they just do it to have an excuse to hang out when diluc comes to town.

gahhh im so indecisive about this, and about the same for kaeya. whatever you prefer, honestly! any combination of them knowing/not knowing is interesting to me. same for if/when kaeya might have learned it (like for what i said about teyvat not really having vampires, i do think it’s SO fun that it’s this huge but probably welcome change for kaeya. but then he just very suddenly learns that actually no it’s not and not only that but they were under his nose the whole time. but on the flip side, i love what his knowledge would mean for his relationship with crepus, who he very much does love; it would be so complicated which i adore)

ultimately for diluc, i don’t think so. at least to me! if only so that he doesn’t have full answers when he deals with all the effects later and doesn’t exactly know what to do with this new stuff. i like him having to kind of figure it out on his own (especially if kaeya might have some answers even) and maybe even hurt someone he loves (worst possible thing for him specifically) to realize it. but i would just as soon argue yes he did know; that’s just what i’m feeling at this point in time.

but like if yes, then there's the element of keeping it from kaeya (which like... ouch) but then also kaeya does know already, at least about vampires if not the ragnvindrs as vampires, and he has to deal with that surprise. it places their childhood in this weird place where not only was crepus keeping secrets from them and kaeya was keeping secrets from them (both standard), but diluc was as well. and idk—it's very different from canon but i would be really interested in that change! and i could just as easily say crepus never explained it if i want to keep that figuring it out on his own thing. the only thing i would want to think about more (that comes to mind as i'm writing this) is how and why crepus would only tell diluc (like *i* think he would want both of them to go with him, but maybe he didn't. or maybe he recognized that kaeya wouldn't want to. or something like that). but also that's... kinda what he does with the delusion anyway (even if i think he only gets a second to mention it, he seems to have been thinking it would've been longer) so i'm not worried it doesn't make sense or anything like that.

at the very least, i don’t think either knew the full extent or situation, and i’m not sure either do even in the present. and the way that conversation changes based on which of them knew in any combo… hehehe

hehe!! ok i love his eye. one of my very first headcanons about him ever was that the pirate thing was, at least in part, legitimate. that has changed form somewhat, but the most notable way that it manifested was that he (and many khaenri’ahns, although technically we only had visuals of dain at this point) wears the eyepatch for the same reason pirates/pilots sometimes do (or are said to do). basically, to help them see better in low light. right now i typically prefer like loyalty or something but i do think this practical reason is… kinda fun? also i like thinking of khaenri’ah in-game as visually dark so it does rely on that. but it worked really well for this fic!

so assuming that vampires get good dark vision, training their eyes to do that would allow any vampire hunters/non-vampires who might be in danger to remove that advantage that the vampires have in that specific aspect. maybe it wouldn’t work if the au khaenri’ah was dark but honestly i wasn’t worried about making it a perfect match so much as i was about including this hc lol. specifics aside, i was really glad i got to mention it because i’ve hinted at it in my fics before but i’m also really indecisive about it (esp when i assumed we would learn more about it... and we did) and i like multiple other reasons which is why i don’t really refer to it so explicitly.

which is why he takes it off in his initial confrontation of diluc—he supposes he needs the advantage. or maybe he just wants to let diluc know that he knows because he now has to deal with this being the reality for his brother but also he has like... if not an outright duty then at least a built-in aversion. (bc i don't actually know if it's something that was expected of him. maybe he was sent to mondstadt for that reason, maybe even more specifically to deal with crepus, whether he knew that or not. but also like… maybe there were other reasons he was sent away. in this case, i might prefer that, but i go back and forth.)

but in the present scene, he doesn’t need to because he’s not planning to fight diluc at all or have a practical reason to take it off. which like, i don't think he's wearing it during the day and taking it off at night so much as he is only taking it off when he needs to. you could blame this on habit or tying it back to that loyalty reason or bc of the scar or something else.

diluc… i think interprets this behavior differently or at least interestingly as he is worried about how casually kaeya is treating it bc he’s so guilty about it. not that i think he's wrong to do this because even canon kaeya seems to be strangely chill about it imo. also, maybe he in part thinks kaeya wearing the eyepatch is him being closed off and wanting to at least partially cut ties.

Okay itty bitty plot bunnies tho,

Vampire!Kaeya getting taken in by the Ragnvindrs as per canon, who HAPPEN to be a vampire hunting fam. Crepus had been well-aware of the kid’s nature but wanted to give him a good life anyways, esp in looking for a cure so he can be human with them. Meanwhile Kae had planned to make the Ragnvindrs like him bc he couldn’t bear the idea of outliving them, only for Crepus to perish after a cursed artifact acted up and thus the Betrayal is less Kaeya outright SAYING who he truly is, but more him ambushing Diluc out of desperation and forcibly turning him, only for him to be (quite understandably) enraged at what he’d done and concealed, thus ending with the man leaving him behind to hunt down the ones responsible for giving Crepus the cursed artifact bc he Knew that would hurt Kaeya more than simply killing him and freeing himself from The Curse with his Sire dead (perhaps Luc figured it his own punishment as well, for failing to save Crepus), and-

Kaeya being a weird horse girl™ is so true to me anyway, but in a modern setting specifically I just know he collected all the horse posters from those teen girl magazines and plastered them all over his walls. There were some he stuck on the fridge too before Adelinde scolded him for it (gently told him to leave some room for Diluc's drawings too). Also his phone and computer backgrounds were pictures of horses he found on the internet or selfies he took with horses.

Venti dressing as he does in game makes me laugh so much! I imagine Diluc still owns a pub or something in a modern au, so he just sees Venti in his little medieval bard clothing and looks at the CCTV camera, The Office style, and goes "the guy from the pantomime back again". And honestly, I can't decide which music genre is funnier for Venti in this scenario! Like, indie? Rap!? Pop!?!? Every genre is funny and unexpected when my guy dressing in his little pantaloons and starts singing anything that isn't theatre!

Vampire Diluc!!! pLEASE! Him going through his little goth phase completely unintentionally, beelining for the rack of black clothing in the corner of every clothes shop because "all the other clothes are tacky". He always dresses in long sleeved shirts in the summer because he gets sunburnt too easily, and likes wearing all the vintage trousers and waistcoats because they "look elegant" and he's got the money. Kaeya would always laugh at him for it but then basically do the same thing in a different font. Lowkey reminds me of my boyfriend ngl. He too has an unintentionally pretentious style purely because he "wants to look smart" and I make fun of him for it

#princeinexile is trending in Khaenri'ah at least once every month. The people love Kaeya! They live for the drama of their exiled prince's life! I bet you there's a show too! Like Keeping Up With The Kardashians, except it's Keeping up With The Khaenri'ahn Royals and Kaeya doesn't know he's being filmed. He's like every other celebrity, except there's even more mystery and excitement around him because he doesn't actually know he is a celeb so he doesn't do interviews or anything, and people love dedicating their accounts to him and making edits and coming up with theories and headcanons. If Kaeya ever found this part of social media, I think he would have an aneurism.

Okay okay okay, listen. I think Rosaria would be the type of person to make a lot of sex jokes, but like in a tasteful goth way. She'd definitely tell people to call her mommy as a joke (or not as a joke), and she said it to Kaeya once and only once, because Kaeya promptly had a breakdown, told her that she does really resemble his mom and then a panic attack to top it all off. Rosaria to this day has not fully processed this but they both refuse to speak about it or even acknowledge it.

"Are you certain you are using it as prescribed!?" Kaeya just nods as the doctor starts crying at their desk because this is NOT NORMAL! "Are you sure you don't smoke or take drugs? Please!? I don't understand how goddamn traumatised you must be for your system to literally override THREE Different Types of Biological Medication!?!?!" They're like rocking back and forth while Kaeya just kinda sits there like, "yeah... it do be an issue, but like. I would like it solved please?" If the next one hadn't worked the doctor would have actually just prescribed vodka and resigned.

I don't even know what to say about the last one. Like. What? Kaeya got shown it by some kid from college and he had never been so relieved that he was abandoned and adopted by Crepus instead. Kaeya told the kid he had no idea who that man was and then went home and bleached his eyes.

By chance, Kaeya finds himself in an unfamiliar estate, without really knowing what he was among the vampires. Every second of his life is in danger, But Count Crepus treats him kindly to ease the young knight’s vigilance. However, in the middle of the night Diluc finds Kaeya at dinner and he zealously screaming for him to run away until the count-father wants to eat young knight.

Man, imagining that Gothic Romance Vampire Diluc concept... imagining him having a sweetheart back when he was a member of the Knights. Then the attack happens, his father dies. What if the attacker was a vampire, and what if Diluc is Turned in the struggle? His sweetheart doesn't know what happened to the kind, warm man they knew and Diluc is too conflicted over his monstrous nature to even dream of being with them anymore. But circumstances arise and they wind up staying at the manor... mmmm tasty

ooh see... here is my concept, for if indeed i ever do get around to writing it;

if i DO, it will probably be multi-chapter and very long fgnkjbfjkg. but. for you, dear follower, as some of these story beats are reasonably similar!!!

reader is a childhood friend of diluc's; in fact, when the children are young, an arrangement is hashed out with reader's father and crepus whereby they and diluc will be married where they are of age. they grow up knowing this and are perfectly happy with the arrangement; they got on well, they are both warm-hearted and soft . . . when kaeya comes into the picture, reader is taken with this boy who will one day be their brother in law too. they are a perfectly happy little band of three - reader does not go into the knights in a combat role, but assists in some other capacity (maybe by helping lisa. i think librarian is a very cute thought). but when the attack happens--

diluc still goes missing; still wanders for three years, unsure of what it is he's been turned into. kaeya and he still have a bust-up, only this time it's because both of them have secrets to be keeping from one another. reader writes diluc letters that go unanswered; still desperately misses and adores him. when they find out he's back in town after so long, they screw up all of their courage to the sticking place - there will be answers. master crepus is dead and so is their father, so whether the arranged marriage continues or not . . . reader just wants to know.

it has been some time since they have visited the lands that dawn winery is situated on; they find themselves lost. they find themselves attacked - and then, they find themselves awakening in a dawn winery manor that is . . . familiar, but not as familiar as it once was. older. clearly unlived in for some time. adelinde, the housemaid turned head housekeeper that reader was once so familiar with, is cold and distant and a little sharp. they are aware diluc is in residence, but he doesn't seem to wish to see them unless it is late at night--

anyway. reader recovers slowly from their injuries (another vampire? diluc himself? some other problem that diluc now finds himself having to pursue? that would be spoilers) all the whilst trying to find out what happened to the kind, warm-hearted boy they once knew, whilst diluc attempts to keep his own bloodlust-and-other-lust for poor reader at bay. at the same time, trouble brews. kaeya knows what he is. do the knights? is diluc himself a monster that needs to be slain?

Diluc performing vigilante duties at night, not because it provides better cover for him, but because he's strongest at that time. I subscribe to the belief that vampires are weakened by the sun, but aren't completely sun-averse.

Diluc who had to "end his father's suffering" by driving a sword through his heart to cover up that the Fatui had actually driven a holy spear through Crepus's heart. Diluc draining Fatui empty as he goes on his four-year vengeance spree. Before, he had only ever taken what was necessary; the literal taste for blood he gains drives him near-mad with power.

Diluc who, after the intervention of the underground network he is a part of, is rehabilitated from his overindulgence in blood and finally returns to Mondstat to protect the land his father loved.

Kaeya who thrives in his role of collecting intelligence by lurking in taverns at night. After he's used his charm and a few drinks to pry secrets from his targets, his shadow-like stealth allows him to follow up on these little tips with ease. No one notices the creature of the night as he slips in and out of the most dangerous, highly-guarded hideouts. No one would suspect he could be the one doing this either. After all, the townspeople see Captain Kaeya helping citizens all day! The guys gotta sleep sometime, right? (Nope.)

Kaeya, whose cryo vision eases the effects of the sun's warmth on him. No one would suspect he's a vampire when he walks through the streets like he owns them in the daytime, without the slightest hint of fatigue or distress.

Alhaitham whose mysterious, standoffish reputation is, ironically, the reason people don't believe he could be a vampire. Everyone knows his personality makes him far less than approachable. Wouldn't it be too... cliche, too stereotypical, for him to be a vampire? Besides, what vampire takes in a roommate? Alhaitham, apparently.

Kaveh, who is an absolute hot mess of a vampire. With how much he gossips when drunk, it's a miracle he hasn't just told everyone he's a vampire yet. He's also really bad at hiding his vampirism from other vampires. There's a number of good reasons a vampire might hide their identity from their own kind so it's fairly common- expected, even. Alhaitham took one look at Kaveh and it was obvious. The way Kaveh complains incessantly, of course he'd lament when it's too hot out, or whine about how badly he needs a refreshment to ward off the heat! Of course he'd snap at Alhaitham about how he needs to work on projects at night because hes "more of a night owl than an early bird." (Jokes on him; Alhaitham doesn't need sleep, either, he only complains about the late night noises because it's another problem to hang over Kaveh's head.)

Alhaitham knows Kaveh is a vampire. Kaveh does not know Alhaitham is one.

i love procrastinating writing almost as much as i love actually writing, so here's all my fics posted in 2021!

first and foremost, let's start with my faves from each month, and i'll put the rest below the cut!

Dainsleif who got lost one day, Half-Blood Kaeya whose father was a human his mother had a secret love where he was killed by the Alberich clan when they found out their only heiress was dating a human… Reader the poor human the surrounding town sacrificed… many thoughts… (Roselyne as a former sacrifice to Barbatos taken in as a half-blood by the Tsaritsa after escaping and her having a grudge against the clans under Venti’s reign)… Maybe even do that Diabolik Lovers trope of Reader with special blood and that’s why everyone is pinning after you… so many thoughts someone confront me about it and ask me about it and i’ll give you my kidney thnx

I'm so happy you liked it!!! To be honest I think that Diluc scenarios from that post were the best. And it's funny cuz he was the only one I had no idea what to do with at first lol.

Of course there was a lot of things he had to pay attention to. He hid being undead mostly because he was scared and he admitted to that.

He wasn't ever a social person but still, assumptions, rumors, hell anything can happen. And since you're now together he's scared that something may happen to you too.

First things first he needs to wake up extremely early. Even though he leads nocturnal lifestyle. But of course everything he does during the night is a secret.

Luckily he doesn't really need sleep. Sometimes it's just to pass some time quicker and sometimes it's just so you don't feel alone if you share a bed.

When he wakes up he puts some makeup on, obviously his skin is ultimately pale due to the fact that he has little to no blood so to make people less suspicious he needs to cover that fact.

Luckily he isn't decaying... Yet? He isn't sure how this works but he'd assume that his body would change more over time. But it's lucky for him, it makes things easier.

If things start to change he's ready to run and live somewhere alone. Unless you join him but he never even told you about such plan yet. Mostly because he only slowly prepared for it and hopes it doesn't come to this.

Of course even though he covers his chest he also has another measure to hide his injury. Let's say you put your hand on the place where the hole is... What does he do to that?

Well obviously a chestplate. Very flexible chestplate that is useless as armor but perfect for a fake-chest.

Unless he gets hit hard it won't be a problem... Actually when you caught him looking dead when he was putting it on now that you think about it.

And he really rarely takes it off... So your timing that day couldn't be worse... Or better?

While yes the whole thing did make him feel like he was on thin ice, but in the end he had you right?

When it was just you two he dropped the act. It was a bit odd at first but you could get used to it.

But even in your company he didn't take off the chestplate. He knew it was gross and having it on didn't inconvenience him so he didn't mind.

Sometimes however... You wanted to see it. The moments when you did were short because this wound not only reminded him of his past, but it also was risky for him to have it off for so long.

He still doesn't understand why he woke up but not his father. Maybe Dellusions were even more cursed than he could imagine.

He did remember being pushed back with the last of his father's strength but he thought it was due to the fact that Crepus probably couldn't see things clear, while in reality all he did was try to prevent Diluc's death.

He has a lot of "What if"'s going on around his head. It was filled to the brim with regrets.

At some level he also regrets meeting you. Not because he hates you or anything. It's the complete opposite he loves you (I could joke that to the death but if he's already dead wouldn't it mean that he doesn't like you? I dunno)

He's just worried about you. Let's be honest you are very restricted with stuff you two can do together and he feels like you should be with someone... Well... Alive?

At one point he did consider breaking up with you. He just doesn't want to to waste your life on a corpse... But he couldn't do it.

He didn't wanted to break your heart. Even if it was for your good he just couldn't push you away no matter what. He felt selfish because of that... But he didn't care.

Instead he did let you know that if you want to leave him, you don't have to force yourself to be with him.

Of course you shut that down and told him that you wanted to be with him whether his heart was beating or not.

He just doesn't want you to regret this... But since you're so sure he will be the best undead boyfriend there is out there.

And he kept his promise. Even people around him saw him change. He was smiling more even though there was some worry with it. Perhaps your wholesome argument made him a little bit too happy.

House of monster AU - Genshin Impact

The house of monsters au or THOM AU is about how almost everyone is some kind of monster or otherworldly being and lives in one GIANT mansion. Note: I’m still fleshing out the story so some things may change in the future also the main ship is kaebedo BACKSTORY: The AU follows kaeya who is sent to live in the mansion, the reason why kaeya is being sent to the mansion is that after master crepus Death, diluc (the only other human in this AU that matters) could not care for himself and his younger brother after crepus’s death, so diluc sent kaeya to the church but the church didn’t want to have a “cursed” child with them so they sent kaeya away, ya know, out of sight out of mind. So Kaeya has to figure out how to coexist with a mansion of monsters, make sure Diluc doesn't suspect anything through his letters, and stay alive. Oh did I mention kaeya is the only human there?

Later on, though, kaeya would find out he is the last human with magic (or well Khaenrian), humans long ago used to have magic aka visions but as time went on and more races of otherworlders(aka the monsters) started to appear and humans started losing their visions, so a bloodline was born and named the Khaenrian bloodline and this bloodline’s purpose was to keep magic alive in humans but as generations passed this bloodline would soon start breeding out the magic in them(also the Khaenrian's got their magic from the ABYSS). Kaeya's birth mother was Khaenrian and his father a normal person and on the night of kaeya’s 7th birthday, they were killed in an accident (cough assassination cough) and leaving kaeya the only survivor.

Kaeya would be adopted into Ragnvaldr family but that wouldn’t last long as crepus would fall ill and die, which would result in Diluc and kaeya’s estranged relationship. Also being a Khaenrian the church would dub kaeya “Cursed” or “cursed blooded child”.
