Hello! I've seen your drawings of young Russia, and I was wondering about your AU. Is Russia the favorite? How is the relationship with USSR and the other soviet republics? Since it seems to me USSR loves Russia the most (btw, I would like to see Kazakhstan in your artstyle!)

russia is absolutely the favorite child. hes also the only legitimate child of soviets. getting into the logistics of how countries relate to each other would take a while. but just know russia is the only one related to soviet in the human parent-child way and not a weird country way.

but just because russia is his favorite doesnt necessarily mean he was treated well. just better.

the other kids. along with the countries soviet absorbed. were treated more like soviets working force. and like how in a religious group they may call each other family being under the soviet union was a lot like that.

though countries like ukraine belarus and kazakhstan were treated more like his children. it wasnt to the same extent russia was. which is why only really russia mourns his lost. the others being more relieved or even happy that hes gone. (except belarus who has more mixed feelings.)

russia is also the youngest in the union. so that plays into it a bit. getting to do less work and all since he was too young to really do much of the heavy lifting. which caused resentment towards him. it was a very lonely experience.

soviet and russias relationship is really complicated and runs very deep. and its super interesting to get into. so much daddy issues…

soviet was a very distant father. but those few times he wasnt… the memory keeps russia going.

for you, anon: the main four and also the only ones i can imagine being soviet’s kids in any context, in winter gear (& some bits from their cultures). this is completely contradictory to my hcs but they turned out somewhat cute. i considered adding east germany & north korea to this but got tired before i could incorporate them into it
