This is an excellent NY Times interactive article, so the above link is a gift 🎁 link so anyone can read the entire article, even if they don't subscribe to the NY Times. Here are some excerpts.
Upending the outcome of a free and fair presidential election is no minor endeavor. It requires time, energy, money and, especially, an awful lot of people willing to do the wrong thing — or at least go along with it. The network of people who allegedly helped Donald Trump try, without success, to stay in power more than two and a half years ago may seem hopelessly chaotic, but there was a method to the madness. American elections are, by design, entrusted to the states and therefore decentralized. To meddle in them requires national masterminds working hand in glove with plotters at the state and local levels — a tangle of conspirators, enablers and indulgent bystanders as messy and sprawling as our democracy itself. And while it can be tempting to downplay or dismiss the entire nightmare as the pathetic machinations of crackpots and fringe figures or even to wave it off as ancient history, that would be a mistake. Those who worked to overturn the 2020 election are the same kinds of people and groups Mr. Trump would surely surround himself with if elected to a second term: unscrupulous or timid federal and state officials, ethically flexible lawyers and Republican yes men and women. Except that in 2025 those figures would have a better sense of how to dismantle the guardrails that once stood in their way and how to exploit the fault lines and weaknesses in our electoral process. [emphasis added]
Below is the final graphic in the article that shows all the people connected with Trump's coup attempt, including some who refused to go along with it:

« Donald Trump is someone you should think carefully about hitching your financial fortunes to. The guy is a gifted carnival barker, no doubt. But when it comes to serious business, he is a bad bet. Many of his ventures, from vodka and steaks to casinos and “university” degrees, have flopped like dying fish. Declaring corporate bankruptcy seems to be one of his favorite hobbies. And even when he wriggles away from failure largely unscathed, the other parties involved aren’t always so fortunate. Where money is involved, anyone still foolish enough to crawl into bed with him should be prepared for the experience to end in tears.
[ ... ]
Republicans have fallen in line behind a guy who has zero loyalty to the party, who cares only how it can serve him and who would rather strip it for parts than invest a nickel in its general well-being. »
— Michelle Cottle at the New York Times.
Republicans had the chance to get rid of Donald Trump at the second impeachment in early 2021. But they showed the same sort of wisdom as those Russian troops who dug trenches and camped out on the grounds of the Chernobyl nuclear reactor early in Putin's invasion of Ukraine. Now the GOP is saturated with debilitating Trump radiation.
Republicans know better but are too cowardly to do anything about their situation. They care too much about their short term personal political careers to be concerned about the long term prospects for the US.
A sweeping GOP defeat this year would push them into a state of recriminatory chaos and possibly lead to them going the way of the Whigs,

Chapters: 5/? Relationships: William Adama/Laura Roslin, Lee "Apollo" Adama/Kara "Starbuck" Thrace, Anastasia "Dee" Dualla/Billy Keikeya, Ellen Tigh/Saul Tigh, Other Relationship Tags to Be Added Summary:
All of this has happened before, and all of this will happen again. And this time, the Gods had gifted the marks to the Thirteen. A soulmate canon divergence of Bill and Laura, and their ragtag fleet's, adventures across the stars.
Chapter 5 is live! Its a shorter one, but liked what I did with it, so didn't want to combine with another chapter. <3

Some excerpts from this column by Michelle Cottle:
A healthy democracy needs its participants to accept a basic will-of-the-majority model. Fringe factions have rights, but they do not run the show. For years, the Republican Party has been shifting toward an anti-majoritarian, burn-down-the-system ethos. Time after time, the preferences and well-being of the many are abandoned in pursuit of the desires of the extremist few. Nowhere has this become more evident than in the House, where various slivers of hard-liners delight in holding the entire chamber — and on occasion the entire country — hostage. The Freedom Caucusers want this or that unpopular policy stuffed into a spending bill. Matt Gaetz’s rebels clamor for this or that procedural change. In some cases, the Venn diagram circles of demands overlap; in others, different gangs dig in on different priorities. Forget compromise or collaboration or collective governance within the conference. It is not even a question of might makes right so much as a contest to see who can grab the most attention for throwing the most disruptive tantrum.
Below is a graphic from the column that shows just how fart to the right Jim Jordan is compared to his fellow Republicans in the House.

A CHRISTMAS CAROL: A Ghost Story The REP, Birmingham, Wednesday 20th November 2024 Horror fanatic Mark Gatiss (of The League of Gentlemen fame) adapts the Charles Dickens classic with an emphasis on the ghostly and ghastly, and therefore the show comes with an age guidance notice.  This is not one for the very young – indeed the jump scares might finish off anyone of a nervous…

I washed my towels and sheets, remade my bed, ordered a new duvet and cover, and put my laundry away. Also dyed my hair after some accidental peer pressure from @lalalauraroslin (still waiting on the results from that, probably a morning reveal for everyone).
Aside from the damn persistent cough, I am back on my feet and headed back to work tomorrow!
