Amidst the tumbling snow, the small village of Krasnoye was mostly asleep, but a few sharp-eyed individuals noticed the Unilever cab pulled up in the town square. It's arrival had a strange portent, and the townsfolk whispered of strange rumors about the industrial giant. The board of Unilever had approved a plan to conscript Russian employees from the Krasnoye area to work in their manufacturing industries. The news spread quickly through the villages, but there was little that anyone could do to oppose the Unilever board. The townsfolk felt powerless against the implacable march of industrial progress, and could only look on in silent resignation. The Unilever cab backed away from the town square, leaving behind a strange and unsettling feeling that had settled upon the residents of Krasnoye. As the snow continued to fall, they could only stand and watch as their future was laid out before them.

"Legislative momentum against PFAS has surged this year, as at least 11 states enacted laws to restrict the use of “forever chemicals” in everyday consumer products or professional firefighting foam.
The legislation includes bans on PFAS in apparel, cleaning products, cookware, and cosmetic and menstrual products. Meanwhile, lawmakers in some states also passed measures that require industries to pay for testing or cleanup; order companies to disclose the use of PFAS in their products; and mandate or encourage the development of PFAS alternatives, according to Safer States, an alliance of environmental health groups focused on toxic chemicals.
In total this year, at least 16 states adopted 22 PFAS-related measures, according to the group. Since 2007, 30 states have approved 155 PFAS policies, the vast majority of them in the past five years.
The thousands of chemicals categorized as perfluoroalkyl and polyfluoroalkyl substances, or PFAS, do not naturally break down and are found in the blood of 97% of Americans. Some PFAS compounds can harm the immune system, increase cancer risks and decrease fertility...
Earlier this year, the U.S. Environmental Protection Agency released new standards limiting PFAS in drinking water. Water systems have five years to comply with the rules. Even before the EPA action, 11 states had set their own limits on PFAS in drinking water, starting with New Jersey in 2018.
Water utilities and chemical manufacturers are challenging the new EPA standards. But states also are heading to the courthouse: So far, 30 states have sued PFAS manufacturers or key users for contaminating water supplies and other natural resources, according to Safer States...
Sarah Doll, national director of Safer States, said one reason states have been so successful in enacting PFAS limits is that more companies are willing to stop using the chemicals.
“When California restricted PFAS in textiles, all of a sudden you saw companies like REI saying, ‘We can, we’re going to do that. We’re going to move to alternatives,’” Doll said.
In Vermont, state lawmakers in April unanimously approved a measure banning the manufacture and sale of PFAS in cosmetics, menstrual products, incontinence products, artificial turf, textiles and cookware.
“The same as everyone else, like Democrats, we want to make sure that we remove PFAS and get it out of products as soon as we can,” said Vermont Republican state Rep. Michael Marcotte, who said his district includes cosmetics manufacturer Rozelle Cosmetics, in Westfield.
Democratic state Sen. Virginia Lyons, the chief sponsor of the Vermont bill, said it is particularly important to get PFAS out of products that are essential to consumers.
“There are some consumer products where you can say, ‘I don’t need to buy that, because I don’t want PFAS,’” Lyons said. “But it’s really tough to say that [about] a menstrual product.”
California’s latest PFAS measure, which Democratic Gov. Gavin Newsom signed last month, specifically bans the use of PFAS in menstrual products. Democratic Assemblymember Diane Papan, the author of the bill, said it was particularly strong because it covers both intentional and unintentional uses of PFAS, so “manufacturers will have to really be careful about what comes in their supply chain.”
While more states enact laws focused on specific products, Maine is preparing to implement the world’s first PFAS ban covering all consumer goods. The Maine law, which is scheduled to take effect in 2030, will include exceptions for “essential” products for which PFAS-free alternatives do not exist. Washington state has also taken a sweeping approach by giving regulators strict timelines to ban PFAS in many product categories.

The steel cold of winter had long since replaced the scorched auburns of the autumn, but Russia had yet to not feel the heat of the decision. Like a living memory, traces of Essity’s investments in the great land lingered. It was whispered in the streets of Moscow, and a ghostly whisper beyond the reaches of St. Petersburg. Even wayward travelers in Siberia heard of what was decided. The divestment was the result of unknown wranglings, a collusion of an ever shifting Russian corporate landscape. Lines of debts and ownership grew like a deep winter frost. It was said to be a matter of days before the details were made public, but few suspected it was already a done deal. The people of the frozen tundra paid attention. They watched as their resources were traded like cards in a game of chances, the cold winds of an unspoken reality blowing around them. They had seen the passage of many powerful companies before and yet they wondered, what would happen now? The answer remains silent, but there are those who continue to whisper of a potential future – one of uncertainty, but of potential.

In a significant breakthrough for the cosmetics industry, researchers have developed a new type of sunscreen using lignin, a naturally abundant polymer, and titanium dioxide (TiO2). The study, led by Yarong Li and Zhiguang Tang, was published in the Journal of Bioresources and Bioproducts and details the innovative use of a dual-modified lignin sub-microsphere to enhance the SPF and improve the color of sunscreens. Lignin, a byproduct of the pulp industry, is known for its UV-absorbing properties and antioxidant capabilities. However, its application in commercial sunscreens has been limited due to its low SPF and dark coloration.

Food, fertiliser, fuel … seaweed has been a life force for centuries. On a coastal foraging trip in Pembrokeshire, we discover it’s now behind a new green initiative in Wales
A happy combination of increased environmental awareness and more people seeking vegan alternatives has taken seaweed mainstream. It’s estimated that the industry in Europe will be worth €30bn by 2030, with seaweed already used for food, plastic alternatives, biofuel, fertiliser and cosmetics. In Asia, it’s always been a dietary staple, but in Welsh cuisine (despite the earliest written record of seaweed eaten here dating from the 12th century), it’s lost favour in recent years
A new collection of chefs and farmers has started to change that. I meet Jonathan Williams the next morning in driving rain at the Freshwater West Beach seaweed hut. A tent-like building that juts bravely into the horizon. This is the last survivor of a group of about 20 that were used to dry seaweed in the early 20th century, and it was this hut that first inspired Williams (the founder of the Pembrokeshire Beach Food Company and the solar-powered seaweed boat kitchen, Cafe Môr) to rediscover a taste for seaweed. Laver seaweed has been eaten in Wales since at least the 17th century.

Momagers, Stage Mom's & Mama's Boys: The Dysfunctional Moon Child
Moon influenced people often come from households where they had a very dysfunctional relationship with their parents. Both parents are usually toxic but the Moon person forms a close, overly sympathetic and anxiously attached bond with one parent who they perceive as the victim or martyr in some way. (Dad's abusive or neglectful and mom's the one trying her best, for example).
WHY does this happen?
Moon is said to be the most Yin of the planets. It's passive, feminine and emotional.
Most of the time, these bonds are toxic because its overly protective, overly nurturing, controlling, overly caring as opposed to say Sun influence which will create bonds that are too independent and unattached (aka female friendships vs male friendships lol). Moon influenced parent-child bonds become toxic because there's TOO MUCH love, care and attachment and neither party can have a separate independent existence.
Moon influence is prominent in the charts of momagers/stage moms AND the kids who are under their control.
Priyanka Chopra, Rohini Moon
Pri and her mom are attached at the hip and they're literally ALWAYS together. She has managed Pri's career since she was a teenager. And since she's not a nepo kid, it's known that she's had affairs with several married men in the industry, especially when she was starting out, to secure work :((
And I think its fucked up to have a parent basically pimp you out to make money. Be it PC getting a nose job or her army doctor mother quitting her job to open a cosmetic surgery clinic or her family running a pub?? PC is the golden goose and her family has just been living off of her money and encouraging her to basically do anything to make it. I think its a bit fcked to be smoking with your mom and its not bc I'm Indian lol
Alia Bhatt, Shravana Rising
Now Alia's dad is a pretty well known asshole who is infamous for being abusive. And Alia had a pretty rough upbringing, so its no wonder that Alia is as attached to her mom as she is. Alia's own marriage is pretty fucked up and toxic.
Alia started her career when she was 17 and to this day, her mom manages her finances. She was recently in the news for being scammed out of 1 crore rupees (119,000 dollars) so like I guess her mom's not exactly brilliant at what she does lol
Katrina Kaif, Hasta Moon
Katrina Kaif who is British, came to India when she was 17 and met and started dating the violent, toxic abusive Salman Khan, who was 20 years older than her. He helped her establish herself as a huge star but she went through a lot including physical abuse.
Kat endured all that because she had 7 siblings to support and her mom was a single mom. She's extremely close to her mom but I still think its fcked up that a literal teenager had to become the breadwinner of a family of 8 and endure all kinds of abuse in a toxic industry and in a country where she knew nobody just to break even.
Bella Hadid, Hasta Moon
Yolanda is a toxic mom in general but she has a particularly toxic bond with Bella for sure
Britney Spears, Shravana Moon
She's probably the most notorious example of being controlled by her toxic , abusive family :(((
Brooke Shields, Rohini Sun/Jupiter/Rahu
Her mom made her pose naked for playboy when she was 10. That should say enough about how fcked up her momager was. She has spoken about how her mom was an alcoholic and she felt like she had to do everything she could do to keep her mom alive :((
Ranbir Kapoor, Shravana Moon
He grew up in a toxic home where his dad cheated on his mom and was an alcoholic. He's KNOWN to be a mama's boy and his mother lowkey influenced all his previous relationships until he finally tied the knot with someone his mom approved of ://
Today his wife dresses and emulates his mom lmao
Leonardo DiCaprio, Hasta Moon
He's another infamous mama's boy
It's interesting to me how in most of these cases, the fathers were either absent or neglectful. These people grew up under the sole care of their mothers and it created an overly possessive, toxic, codependent bond. All of these people have spoken about how hard their mom's lives were and how they're grateful for everything their mothers did for them. This tendency of the Moon to make its natives be entirely sheltered from Yang or male influence or in some ways find Yang influence repulsive is very telling.
Similar to how Sun influenced people find it difficult to relate to or connect with Yin themes (like being clingy, attached, being nurturing in a traditional way, being openly loving etc) Moon influenced people struggle the most with detachment, letting go, independence etc. The extremes of both these can be unhealthy. It's important to learn how to be balanced and not give in to the tendencies that can harm both us and the people in our lives.
That's all for this post<3

KEEP. READING. STUFF. THAT. MATTERS.
Yes, I’m about to sound like a pick-me right now and I don’t care because you need to read this.
There’s nothing wrong with reading about fiction, romance, fantasy, all that stuff. However- it does separate you from the real world. Sometimes, its an escape and I understand that. BUT. In order to function positively in social settings - any social settings - you need to be on top of stuff that’s happening.
That doesn’t mean that you have to be a geopolitical expert or a current affairs news anchor. But it does mean that you need to at least read the news everyday. Once you accomplish that, take that a step further and start looking at reports.
Read what Morgan Stanley’s reports for your country are. Take a look at EY’s or Deloitte’s insights. This will give you an idea as to the years ahead could be like, which is important to know in the case of getting jobs, applying for Masters, talking and connecting to people - you need to what’s going to be relevant and how YOU can benefit from it. Read case studies relevant to your industry/ what you want to work in. Make it a note to read at least one case study a week, from different parts of the world.
You’re too old to keep watching the same beauty gurus rant about the same 5 products over and over again. Even if you’re in the cosmetics industry, its important for you to read about things like manufacturing (what is your country’s stance with China, and how will that affect manufacturing?), ingredients (what have been banned by governments/ FDAs/ equivalents and why? What is the alternative?), rising trends not just in terms of the next “cool” item but the future of the industry itself.
Knowledge is power. You are blessed to live in a time where you have access to things that can put you 10 years ahead at your current job/ profession/ situation. Be smart. Use it wisely. There’s a lot of distractions, but that means that there’s equally as many opportunities.

came up with a new type of lizard today and i'm so proud of these guys :]
meet lime lizard - a lizard type affected by exposure to sunlight. in the light, their speed increases while their taming difficulty decreases, and in the dark their speed decreases to such point they become more aggressive to get their prey, making them difficult to tame. this difference would likely be mostly implemented in regions tied to my iterator ocs - celestial magnificence and eclipse of sunrise, who, out of ill intent, was built to hide most of sunlight from celestial magnificence's superstructure. but you can easily imagine that a sunzard at sky islands would have higher speed and be friendlier than a sunzard from shaded citadel. and of course a sunzard in industrial complex is pretty much likely to be average.
i also made their abilities and cosmetics columns for fun!
edit. i have just realized lightzard works so much better...another name for them now.

It's unfortunate that my (very good) Multiversus fanart from last year resurfaces whenever people look for Multiversus content on Tumblr. For the record I'd like to state that I have no clue whether the game will be good when it comes out later this month.
I stand by my opinion that the developers (as of last year) had really passionate ideas for iterating on the platform fighter genre. We've seen so many platform fighters emerge in the past few years and I think largely people are too content to be melee! Multiversus at launch seemed genuinely interested in pushing the genre into new areas - and I'm not referring to the monetization.
With that said, Multiversus is a Games as Service game relaunching during an unprecedented industry crash brought on by Games as Service fatigue and owned by the company currently most notorious for erasing expensive digital media in favor of tax writeoffs.
My point is; please do not spend any money on Multiversus.
After a full year of expensive battle pass cosmetics, "Founder Packs" and prohibitively cruel XP grinds, Warner Bros. shut down access to the game without much warning last year. It's back now, but there's nothing stopping them from getting rid of it the second they realize that the Fortnite formula is no longer an infinite money machine. Any cosmetics you buy could be lost to time before a year has passed. Don't let the FOMO get you.
Since I'm the only person who ever seemed to like this game, it's my duty to keep it real. Let the dust settle before you consider buying in to any of it.
#Multiversus#Also considering her recent comments I don't think I could stand listening to that much Tara Strong#But thats another argument entirely#text#long post

The ruin dwarfs anything Gazans have ever experienced. The ongoing aerial, naval, and ground assault has by one United Nations estimate damaged or destroyed about one-fifth of the structures in Gaza. According to Thorsten Kallnischkies, a former disaster waste manager who has advised cleanups in 20 countries, 15 million tons of debris now litter the Gaza Strip.
[...]
Without ground access to Gaza, observers are relying on remote sensing and publicly available information to measure environmental impacts to the Strip. Using satellite analysis, He Yin, an assistant professor of geography at Kent State University, reckons the fighting has damaged 15 to 29 percent of Gaza’s arable land. The PAX report identifies a plume of black smoke from a soda factory, suggesting burning plastics, and heavy damage at an industrial campus that makes pharmaceuticals, cosmetics, plastics and other chemical goods. In November, The New York Times observed a huge fire at a water-treatment plant, a frightening development in one of the most water-stressed places in the world.

Animal rights organizations in Canada are celebrating the latest legislation that just got passed which bans cosmetic testing on animals.
On Thursday, June 22, the Canadian government passed measures through the Budget Implementation Act, Bill C-47. The latest amendments prohibit selling cosmetics that "rely on new animal testing data to establish the product's safety, and false or misleading labelling pertaining to the testing of cosmetics on animals."
A coalition of animal protection advocates and beauty industry leaders say they've been "working closely with the Canadian government for several years to advance workable legislation to ban cosmetics animal testing in Canada."
Jean-Yves Duclos, Minister of Health, Government of Canada, said in a release that "testing cosmetics on animals is both cruel and unnecessary." [...]
