For like a month now i've wanted to draw Clive sitting in a big fancy chair all mafia boss like and now i finally got around to it
Also a little doodle of the younger Clive from the photo in the ending didnt have time to colour it though
Now i will disappear once again until the Layton series takes a grip on my brain once more

This scene is definitely one of the indicators that "Future Luke" isn't who he said he was. Cogg slipped off script only for a second calling Clive young sir as he was used to addressing Clive as that when he served the Dove manor.

I sketched a bunch of fake sprite parallels that don't actually exist but I wish did. There are a lot! I'm refining all of them, sorted by which game I took the original sprite from. This one is the Unwound Future post.

What is Clive like in your future Layton au?
Well for one he doesn’t kill a whole bunch of people.
Clive does investigative journalism, and while Hershel wasn’t subtle about investigating the incident, Clive very much was, thus flying under the radar. He finds out about the assault, ends up talking and trauma bonding with Hershel, they start working together to expose Bill Hawks.
Also around that point, Dimitri starts work on the Time Machine, enlists Hershel’s help, who brings Clive along. Clive suggests the mobile battle fortress, Hershel is quick to shut that down.
Hershel ends up fabricating a bit of evidence to really get him, Hawks goes to jail. But after a few years of repeated failure on progress, Clive decides that it’s not going to work, and that he needs his revenge. He assassinates Bill Hawks, Hershel testifies against him to get his ass in jail.
Flora needs all the help she can get, and she needs a safe place to create a portal. Perhaps an ex-ally of the professor could help? Clive’s only condition is that he’s owed a favor, before offering Cogg and Spring’s shop. Turns out it’s quite the perfect place for a wormhole.
Clive’s favor is to be broken out of jail, and he stays with Cogg and Spring in the clock shop.

Mary workingg
I’m very happy with how gentle she’s turning out, I want her to evoke the feeling of looking very huggable and soft when at home. Someone you’d like to return to. That also shares a small passion about clocks but blame that on the found family :)
funfact: Mary's first design had a mole on her cheek (which was obviously scrapped) so the oil stain is a small callback to that.
#if Mary were a season she'd be autumn#This would be her working gear when helping Cogg#professor layton#mary gold#home au

What's better than adopting 1 child?
U guessed; Two Children!
Description of the AU below:
Anyway, AU of Desmond adopts all the lone kids he comes across. I still think it's bad he went through with his plan and crossed the line, reveling he qas Descole all this time. Yet, it didn't ruin his character, it fit very well to him. I enjoyed Azran Legacy a lot.
As for this AU; Since Aurora is more or less implied to be a Golem and her body disintegrated at the end of Azran Legacy, I thought of Desmond building her her own body. (He is known to be very talented and skilled with machines so it's not far fetched)
Clive and her hang out a lot, which makes sense as they have been adopted by the same person.

Ok so….Clive and Constance playing cards together 👏👏👏 A little fluffy WIP I’m excited about. So many of my head-canons for them in this are inspired by and based off ones from my gf @chyouxart, who opened my eyes to the endless depths of familial fluff to be mined from the orphan boy and his adopted family T-T
~~~~
He'd bested her at cribbage on Monday. No surprise there; Cogg had warned her of the boy's prowess. Tuesday he'd reigned at rummy, while Wednesday saw her lose at her own specialty, whist. It was at this point she'd realized Cogg hadn't been dire enough in his impromptu report. Thursday's game of patience had, predictably, ended in a death match the boy had won by mere seconds.
Despite her losses, she would not let him beat her at Go Fish.
"Do you have any fives, Clive?"
With a small frown, Clive slid a single card across the bed. Constance picked it up, only to lay down another match on the quilt swathing her lap. At this rate, her collection was going to keep her warmer than her blankets.
"Any jacks?" Clive asked in return.
His foot tapped a distracted rhythm against the leg of his stool. Combined with his stoic pout, he clearly considered himself too old for the game. He had agreed to it, nonetheless. Perhaps he hoped to continue his winning streak. Heaven only knew the boy was proud as any Dove who’d strutted the earth. Still… unlike every other round of cards they’d played this week, his efforts today were noticeably half-hearted. He hadn’t even made a single cheeky remark since sitting down.
Was he too tired after his long school day to be bothered with childish games, or was there something on his mind? As deep as she was in her golden years, Constance liked to think she retained a youthful spirit. Clive at sixteen years challenged that notion. Such a baffling, brooding, tempestuous age. She loved him as devoutly as she always had, of course. But sometimes puzzling the boy out was like winging sonar waves over a dark landscape, ever changing as he matured.
#professor layton#clive dove#constance dove#Constance just wants to love this angsty teen#I wanted to challenge myself and write something from her perspective#I’m trying to rehaul her character for l^3#she deserves a fully fleshed out backstory#anyway why is the dumbass obsessed with cards in UF?#maybe because he played poker with cogg and Shipley and also bridge with Constance and he got to be really good
Just replaying unwound future and I love how, after the time machine machine stops and the ground stops shaking, Layton immediately runs out the clock shop for no reason.
No explanation, no goodbyes, he just zooms.
Layton takes one look at the spinning clock and decides to go home.
"Luke my boy let's get the fuck out of here"
#why does he do this?#maybe the clock spinning made him think it was about to explode which made him think of how claire died#so he was like imma gtfo#professor Layton#unwound future#unwound future spoilers#lost future#lost future spoilers#hershel layton#luke triton#Spring#cogg
