Somewhere that’s green…
i hate literally everything about CoA VII so i'm making my own CoA with blackjack and hookers where everyone lives (summary below cut)
so the POV is from Ada, who in this AU is looking for a cure for the fungal infection that's killing...i mean everyone but in particular her bae Emil
so she and Emil go to see Luchino b/c he's a toxicologist who's working on the cure in the laboratory housing Patient Zero so Luchino is The Guy who will figure it out if anyone can
and they and their team of a couple others are going to go to the source to find an antidote (which is what happens in the canon short)
so Frederick walks in like "can we get going already" and Ada is like.....fielding him b/c Luchino isn't ready to go yet bc he knows he might not make it back and he wants to make sure Patient Zero is provided for
Patient Zero being Rosario, who is in a state of suspension to prevent the infection from killing them before a cure can be found
So the events of the canon short happen where everyone goes to the source and Gets Got but instead of everyone dying Luchino sees Rosario in his hallucination and they're Not Quite Themself so he realizes what's happening and is able to snap out of it and save everyone, and they book it tf outta there with no cure
BUT WAIT
on the way back to the lab they come across Deux ex Machina Andrew aka Withered Leaf, who in another canon AU i hated was ALSO a survivor of the apocalypse who was working to recover some plant seeds (he died in this AU because every AU is Kill River's Faves Horribly). so they bring him with them and he's given his Faith In Humanity back bc of their kindness, and he gives the seeds to Luchino, who realizes that one of the plants has antifungal properties (most antifungal drugs are plant-based).
so they grow the seeds Andrew gave them and are able to successfully produce a cure for both Emil and Rosario.
THE END UwU

If Catherine got pregnant by Arthur, but it was a girl, would it be possible to skip the kid and go straight to Henry VIII? In a way I could see it like the Great Matter 20 years earlier, Henry VII saying he needs a male heir and Catherine and her family backing the kid and maybe some kind of Exeter Conspiracy to get power.
Hm, that would be an interesting AU… tbh, what I find most frustrating about the (seemingly) obstinate refusal to acknowledge the Henrician 1520s as a ‘succession crisis’ (or in the least, why Henry saw it that way) is actually a more immediate precedent: literally no one was backing the claim of EoY as queen regnant when it was a matter of Richard III or the rival claimant of her future spouse, once it became accepted by most that her brothers were murdered and thus no longer options to inherit the throne.
So yeah, there is actually a question of if CoA and Arthur had a daughter, if she would be preferred in the succession before Henry VIII. If they had a son, it’s far less questionable, their son would be heir to the throne and Henry would be second in line (although if they had daughters as well… again, another question mark, far more ambiguous counterfactually…. dramaturgically, even, iyw….)
I think HVIII would have a comparably popular accession; the question of, would a faction form to prefer his royal niece over him, or one with the aim of making her his heir (over perhaps, his own son and/or daughter , if he has them in this scenario with an alternate wife— I’m not sure the Levitical prohibition would be brushed aside so easily by Pope Julius in the scenario of children by COA and Arthur proving consummation, even with the circumstances as they were it wasn’t ‘so easily’, he didn’t give that dispensation for years after it was requested) would really depend on his reign, if he made comparably controversial choices that would lead to enough dissent for factions to form seeking alternate rule revolving around prophecy and international intrigue in the same way, in this specific counterfactual.

I know the ultimate (and true) answers is that anything could happen, but thoughts on what would’ve happened if Catherine of Aragon had married Henry VII instead?
Damn that’s a good one.
Well, first off, I think, if she married Henry VII, there’s no way she’d marry Henry VIII even if she outlived H7. Can you imagine, she marries the oldest son, then the father, then the second son? Jesus, like I don’t think even the Pope would sign off on that.
What’s even more interesting is...would she and H7 have had kids? Even if they did, no matter what, H8 would still inherit because he was the oldest son. I think, if she did have children with H7, she would’ve stayed in England for her child(ren)’s sake and, if she did re-marry, it probably would've been to an English nobleman or something.
Technically, she’d be H8′s step-mother and Dowager Queen so she’d be well taken care of regardless of if she and H7 had any children together or not.
So, no matter what, her marrying H8 after H7′s death is out of the question. So then who would H8 marry? Obviously a foreign Princess. If he wanted to keep the alliance with Spain, maybe one of Juana of Castile’s daughters? Her oldest daughter, Eleanor, would’ve only been about 10 when H8 took the throne in 1509, but considering Catherine was sent to England when she was only about 14, maybe they wouldn’t have a problem with sending Eleanor over young either?
Or if Henry didn’t want to wait or preferred a French alliance, he could’ve married Marguerite d'Angoulême who was only a year younger than him; however, her brother, Francis, hadn’t yet become King and, if we’re assuming Mary Tudor would still marry Louis XII and the hope was that she would give him an heir thus Francis would never become King, that might not work. Although, Louis XII’s oldest daughter, Claude, was about the same age as Eleanor. So, again, Henry would have to wait but that would give him an alliance with France. And if Henry married Claude then there’d really be no need for Mary Tudor to marry Louis XII.
The only other option I can think of is Margaret of Austria daughter of the Holy Roman Emperor, Maximilian. She was about 11 years older than Henry and also, in real life, she was considered as a bride for H7 but refused because she simply didn’t want to re-marry.
Pretty much any other European princess or noblewoman would’ve either been too young or too old in 1509. So yeah, I think Eleanor of Austria or Claude of France would be the most likely candidates. (And, if he married Claude and she died at the same time in this AU that she died in real life, that would’ve been like, right around the same time Henry met Anne Boleyn in real life, but I digress...😊)
Yeah I think, CoA marrying H7 or Arthur Lives AUs are probably my favorites (besides Anne has a son AUs).

So hypothetically if Elizabeth of York outlived Henry vii and she was by Henry vii's side how would have his reign been different. Specifically how would the whole Katherine of Aragon, Anne Boleyn, annulment and separation from the church happened? When she died in 1503 she was 37 and when things things were happening she would have been in her 60s/70s so it is possible.
To be completely honest I don’t believe much would change, other then maybe Elizabeth attempting to influence Henry VII to make Henry and Catherine marry earlier. However I highly doubt that would have happened, Elizabeth seemed to have no politically influence. If the geo-political situation in Europe stayed the same in this AU, I’m fairly certain Henry VII would have still found the match a poor one after 1503. I think at most maybe Elizabeth could have influenced Henry VII to not be as cruel as he was to KOA and maybe give money to her like she did her sisters.
Henry VII paranoia might not have been as bad in his later years, perhaps today he would not have that reputation. But keep in mind it wasn’t EOY death alone that caused it to spike, it was a combination of the deaths of his advisors, his son Arthur, and EOY. However with EOY surviving till his death he might have had some of that mitigated as she does seem to have been a very calming presence in his life. It’s still very hard to tell.
Going with the idea that COA and Henry VIII still marry when they do and have no living children but Mary I, I think Henry VIII still would have eventually broke from the church and married Anne Boleyn. I probably would have all happened the same. However Henry VIII might not have the “mommy issues” as he seems to have had and he probably wouldn’t have idealized his mother. Still I believe he would have seen his mother as the “perfect” ideal for a Queen. A quiet beautiful woman bearing multiple sons.
EOY, like most of Henry VIII family, would probably have been against the break with Rome, and the marriage to Anne Boleyn. However I doubt EOY would have spoken up against her son, I don’t think she would have approved but I don’t believe EOY had the courage that KOA did. I think privately in her own head she would have sided with KOA, her religion and be upset that Henry was breaking an alliance she had personally worked towards. However I don’t think EOY was like KOA,  Bishop Fisher, Thomas More or even her own granddaughter Mary. All of those people have a huge amount of courage to stand again the King. This isn’t to say EOY is cowardly, I just don’t think EOY would have seen it as her place to tell a King what to do.
I mean all we have to speculate on here is EOY behavior with other kings, I’m certain both Richard III and Henry VII did things she disagreed with and yet we do not see opposition from her. I think if we apply that to Henry VIII breaking from the church and marrying Anne Boleyn I think we would get a similar result.
So while I doubt she would have been in favor of what her son was doing I don’t think she would have actively fought against him either.
I think for the most part, had EOY lived beyond Henry VII she would have simply been a Queen Dowager of England, probably staying in country estates, visiting court on occasions, doing charity and religious work and probably being active in her grandchildren’s lives. Maybe she would have retired to a religious institution like her mother did. I just don’t think we would get a big act of resistance from EOY over her son’s behavior, given how we know she acted in her life.

Subject name: Eli Clark (often referred to as “The Prophet” or “Seer” by Miskatonic personnel)
Age: 23
Stage 4 mycelial infection - stabilized and recovering
Shelter-issued respirator masks and protective clothing are required to enter the subject’s cell to prevent mycelial attachment and concentrated spore absorption.
Shelter-issued equipment must not be removed under any circumstances while within the subject’s cell.
MRF notes:
“The subject’s eyes appear to have been forcibly removed sometime before his recovery from the Children of Calamity cult residing within the remains of White Sand Street Asylum.
Despite his injuries, he still possesses his miraculous ability of foresight, of which Subedar reports to have somehow been enhanced. He claims to have witnessed the subject pull spores from his surroundings to shape into images of what he sees in his mind’s eye. Perhaps this is due to prolonged exposure to CC-class infected while he was imprisoned within their hideout.
I will contact Director Mora to organize a visit to the subject’s observation cell downstairs as soon as possible. I believe this discovery could prove to be quite useful in our journey to find the origin of the apocalypse.”

1st MM Naib concept design cuz Man in Red is too good a costume not to modify and reporpose for coa7.
I don’t quite have a solid lore plan for him yet as he keeps throwing off the main lore/Frederick’s story by giving me too many thoughts and ideas for him (which is starting to become quite irritating 💀). But other than my constant mental wrestling with Naib’s character concepts, I’ve established him as part of the Miskatonic Shelter’s Search & Rescue team (same as Ada!).

Disgraced Apprentice and Mechanical Gear switching places...
Disgraced having to deal with a Charles who is ALSO infected and he feels like the whole world's falling apart because he got infected protecting his Charles only to find out in another universe that he failed him.
Meanwhile Charles gets a HEART ATTACK thinking that he infected his Lucky before he finds out that it's actually Disgraced. He tries to comfort the kid, give him tips too on how to deal with the mycelium but Disgraced can't even look at him in the eye
Frantic Exploration ALSO almost had a heart attack when he saw a completely-fungi-free Disgraced, then he found out it was actually Lucky. He's happy, knowing that Disgraced didn't get infected in another universe and that the other Charles was able to protect this Lucky
Then cue the overbearing guilt that he suddenly feels because he shouldn't feel happy when his own Lucky is infected because of him.
Lucky's just happy to be here and cries tears of relief when he sees that Charles is cured- oh wait this is another Charles. Oops. But he also feels this guilt whenever he sees Frantic because he feels like a burden, knowing that his Charles can't go back to the way he was before because of the mycelium
Anyways I think Failed!Charles and Frantic!Charles should also meet. Preferably after the timeline where Frantic uses the gun and "kills" Disgraced 😁😁😁 I want Failed to find out about it.

Little character status tier list I made for Mycelial Mycosis since it’s the best way for me to organize my ideas :]
Tumblr media
Note: This list is subject to change ofc since it’s impossible for me to just drop a character into one category when they’ll be put into another later down the line. Also new characters tend to change the story a lil each time (*Cough cough* Richard & Evelyn).
Survivors: They’re all completely healthy! Well, healthy in the sense that they’re not infected…yet. Most in this category tend to stick together in shelters, safe zones, or they work in branches of the Miskatonic Shelter. Some of those in this category will not be there for long.
Immune: Mycelium cannot stick to their skin, spore inhalation/absorption is ineffective, and they can’t be infected via bite either! But of course, just because one is immune does not mean they’re invincible in any way.
Infected: Those in this category have been exposed to the mycelium disease in some way and are in varying stages of infection. The infected category is always welcoming new additions.
“Children of Calamity”/CC-class: My personal favorite. These are based on the “divine intervention” expedition entry. Everyone in this category has completely lost their humanity and look to the Lord of Calamity as their deity of worship. They are highly aggressive, and the mutations caused by their infection make them a serious threat to the Miskatonic shelter and all those affiliated with it. Their objective is to spread the mycelium disease to any survivor they come across and expand their territory.
Status TBD: I just don’t know which status to sort them under yet :T
Deceased/petrified: Most that are here were killed or succumbed to their infection and reached the petrification stage. (Based on the “survivors” entry where I’ve taken “becoming petrified” literally in the sense of ossification)
