Chuck Palahniuk's Invisible Monsters: A Plot Hole?
Evie--the female narrator's ex-best friend--gets to know Brandy Alexander (really the narrator's brother Shane-to-current-lookalike)--from a transgender support group, where Evie also told Brady about the narrator's accident where they lost all of their lower jaw. Note, that the narrator has been wearing a veil ever since.
So when Evie shoots Brandy while her house burns down--supposedly mistaking her for the narrator, who was the one to burn down said house--why did Evie think the lookalike was the narrator when she knew and saw that the narrator always wore a veil? Was Evie drunk and her faculties just were slow? I haven't read this book in ages.

I'm not sure what we're running from. Nobody. Or the future. Fate. Growing up. Getting old. Picking up the pieces. As if running we won't have to get on with our lives.

Chuck Palahniuk haunts me, man, like this fucker has written both the best and worst books I have ever read. How do you even do that? How can that happen? It's honestly kinda impressive, get you a man who can do both, I guess.

“No matter how careful you are, there’s going to be the sense you missed something, the collapsed feeling under your skin that you didn’t experience it all. There’s that fallen heart feeling that you rushed right through the moments where you should’ve been paying attention. Well, get used to that feeling. That’s how your whole life will feel some day. This is all practice.”
— Chuck Palahniuk, Invisible Monsters: A Novel (W.W. Norton, March 21, 2011) (via Wait - What?)
