Why Is Vedic Astrology better than other types of Astrology?
Tumblr media
There are three main types: Vedic, Chinese, and Western (Tropical). Within each one, there are further specialised astrology types.
Know about the different types of Vedic Astrology. Get an online astrology consultation by the world-renowned Astrologer Mr. Alok Khandelwal.
Western Astrology
Between 2,000 and 3,000 years ago, the Greeks and the Babylonians invented Western astrology. They held that the relationship between the Earth and the Sun is extremely important since the Sun is the Solar System’s center of gravity. The Tropical Zodiac—which includes the Tropics of Cancer and Capricorn—is what truly determines how close the Sun is to the tropics of the Earth. The 12 Western signs also include Ram, Bull, Twins, Crab, Lion, Virgin, Scales, Scorpion, Centaur, Sea-Goat, Water Bearer, and Fish.
Chinese astrology system
Two of the five elements of the Chinese astrology system are distinct from those in Western astrology, but all five are connected to powerful forces in your life, much like the Western concept. Each element is related to a birth year. For instance, people born under the influence of fire, earth, or metal elements are driven to excitement. In contrast, those born underwater, metal, or wood elements are drawn to emotional attachments and the security that security provides. Rat, Ox, Tiger, Rabbit, Dragon, Snake, Horse, Goat, Monkey, Rooster, Dog, and Pig are among the 12 signs in Chinese astrology.

Vedic astrology (Jyotish)
Literally translated, Vedic astrology (Jyotish) is “the science of light.” The Vedas, one of India’s oldest spiritual texts that date back to roughly 1,500–2,000 BCE, is the source of Vedic science. Vedic astrologers are well known for their spiritual wisdom as well as their ability to predict the future with precision. This is a closer look at Vedic astrology, which differs greatly from both Western and Chinese systems.
Indian or Hindu astrology is the ancient name for the discipline; Vedic astrology is the current label given to it by Vedic astrologer David Frawley. The planets are regarded as the soul’s karmas in Vedic astrology. Karma is actually the main focus of Vedic astrology because it can have either positive or negative effects based on our previous life.
As was already established, karma can have both positive and bad meanings, but the good news is that the planets can help to balance karmic activity by easing suffering and assisting a person through a trying time so that progress can take place.
As was already established, karma can have both positive and bad meanings, but the good news is that the planets can help to balance karmic activity by easing suffering and assisting a person through a trying time so that progress can take place.
As was already mentioned, Vedic astrology uses the Sidereal zodiac, which is “pertaining to the stars,” as opposed to Western astrology, which uses the Tropical zodiac. The link between the planets and the zodiac star constellations is the foundation of the sidereal system. Every 72 years or so, these fixed stars rotate or gently move toward the Earth.
Unlike some of the other types of astrology, Vedic astrology does not consider the angle between the earth and the sun to be an appropriate way to measure the signs. This is due to the precession of the equinoxes, which essentially requires the signs to move backward one day every 72 years in order to maintain their correct astronomical alignment.
The use of planetary periods of influence is one of the best features of Vedic astrology. This is crucial because these times can be quite useful for generating forecasts. It is simple for a reader to provide specifics on how a person might anticipate living during a planetary period by looking at a planet’s chart (sign, house, conjunctions, aspects, house lordship, and strength). Each period is further broken down into shorter sub-periods that can last up to three years, resulting in a stronger and longer prediction. This might relate to one’s future job, romantic relationships, health, and other things.
If you wish to know more about Jyotish or want to resolve personal problems, you can get a free online consultation with our world-renowned astrologer, Mr. Alok Khandelwal.

The Aquarius New Moon will usher in the Chinese New Year of the Yang Metal Rat, on January 25 at 8.41 am (AEDT), positioned at 4 degrees and 21 minutes of Aquarius.  The Sabian symbol for 5 degrees of Aquarius is “A council of ancestors is seen implementing the efforts of a young leader”, reliance on precedents are the key words here.
The luminaries will be making a square aspect to Uranus in Taurus, so there is a feeling around the birth of a new order, a blast of fresh air.  Uranus aspects always have an unexpected outcome rather like a bolt from the blue.  Uranus being the ruler of Aquarius is said to disposit or be in change of this New Moon. So there could be a feeling of things happening unfairly or too soon, some kind of unusual activity.  It could involve sweeping out what has become outdated in your life, so not necessarily a bad thing.
However Saturn is a co-ruler of the sign and he is still in close company with Pluto, so there could be some kind of blockage to moving forward, something that cannot be negotiated or moved around.  The asteroids Asteria and Merlin in Scorpio form an opposition to Uranus and a T-Square with Sol and Luna, so there could be some magic in the air to help provide solutions to this.
With the Sun and Moon in the sign of Aquarius, the general energy focus for this New Moon will be:
Being a humanitarian, concerned about the environment, resources and animals
Putting the needs of the community above your own
Challenging conventional thinking, seeking fairness and equality
Becoming involved in group activities with your tribe of likeminded people
Seeking freedom and the ability to detach from your emotional patterning
Being true to your individuality
Coming up with original and unique inspirational ideas
Increasing your knowledge in what makes people behave the way they do
The area most aligned with the position of the New Moon can be best gleaned from your natal horoscope chart, however if you only know your Sun Sign, then affirmations around the areas indicated on the next page are likely to be the most powerful, but some adjustment may be required to the life areas below:

☯ Chinese Astrology Introduction

Tumblr media
What is Chinese Astrology:
Chinese Astrology is an ancient form of astrology, and started flourishing during the Han Dynasty (around the heyday of the Roman Empire). Chinese Astrology is deeply rooted in several ancient philosophies. These include the three harmonies of Heaven, Earth and Water. Chinese Astrology also delves into yin and yang ☯ which is a pillar of Daoism, Chinese Medicine and culture at large. It also discusses things like the 5 elements (wu xing), the ten heavenly stems and the earthly branches. There is also a connection between the lunar and solar calendars that I will explain later.
Each birth year has a different zodiac animal. There are 12 zodiac signs in Chinese Astrology and it cycles through the five elements every 12 years. The 60 year cycle actually comprises of two separate cycles. The first cycle is of the 10 heavenly stems, which are basically the 5 elements (Wood, Fire, Earth, Metal and Water). The second is the cycle of the Earthly Branches or the 12 animals of the Zodiac. They are in order: Rat, Ox, Tiger, Rabbit, Dragon, Snake, Horse, Goat, Monkey, Rooster, Dog and Pig. The combination of the 10 heavenly stems with the Earthly Branches creates a 60 year cycle. Thus people born 60 years apart have the exact same zodiac animal and element. For ex, my grandma and I are born 60 years apart and we have the exact same element and zodiac animal which is really cool!
Tumblr media
1990 January 26 Yang Metal Horse 🐎 1991 February 14 Yin Metal Goat 🐐 1992 February 3 Yang Water Monkey 🐒 1993 January 22 Yin Water Rooster 🐓 1994 February 10 Yang Wood Dog 🐕 1995 January 31 Yin Wood Pig 🐷 1996 February 19 Yang Fire Rat 🐀 1997 February 7 Yin Fire Ox 🐂 1998 January 28 Yang Earth Tiger 🐯 1999 January 16 Yin Earth Rabbit 🐰 2000 February 5 Yang Metal Dragon 🐉 2001 January 24 Yin Metal Snake 🐍 2002 February 12 Yang Water Horse 🐎 2003 February 1 Yin Water Goat 🐐 2004 January 22 Yang Wood Monkey 🐒 2005 February 9 Yin Wood Rooster 🐓
Tumblr media
The next thing to look at once you have your year animal is to find your animal moon which is linked to your month of birth. You then can put it together using the two charts together.
♈︎ Aries (Moon of the Dragon) ♉︎ Taurus (Moon of the Snake) ♊︎ Gemini (Moon of the Horse) ♋︎ Cancer (Moon of the Goat) ♌️ Leo (Moon of the Monkey) ♍︎ Virgo (Moon of the Rooster) ♎️ Libra (Moon of the Dog) ♏️ Scorpio (Moon of the Pig) ♐︎ Sagittarius (Moon of the Rat) ♑︎ Capricorn (Moon of the Ox) ♒️ Aquarius (Moon of the Tiger) ♓︎Pisces (Moon of the Rabbit)
Tumblr media
Now the hour of your birth also has a Chinese Zodiac animal. Each of the 12 animal signs equates to a 2 hour period over the course of 24 hours. If you were born during Daylight Savings Time needs to subtract one hour to be accurate.
🐀 (RAT) 11 PM - 1 AM 🐂 (OX) 1 AM - 3 AM 🐯 (TIGER) 3 AM - 5 AM 🐰(RABBIT) 5 AM - 7 AM 🐉 (DRAGON) 7 AM - 9 AM 🐍(SNAKE) 9 AM - 11 AM 🐎 (HORSE) 11 AM - 1 PM 🐐 (GOAT) 1 PM - 3 PM 🐒 (MONKEY) 3 PM - 5 PM 🐓(ROOSTER) 5 PM - 7 PM 🐕 (DOG) 7 PM- 9 PM 🐷 (PIG) 9 PM - 11 PM
As anyone who studies Chinese Astrology can attest, there is a serious lack of information in the western world so the rest of this is just my conjecture. You can think of the year you were born in as the broad strokes of who you are. The moon (especially if it's a different animal) gives you some smaller strokes of you. The hour of your birth is the MOST specific but still relevant. The most important is still to look at your overall year sign. If you want to get more into the specifics, that will be Ba Zi, which honestly is confusing AF.
Well I hope you enjoyed this! It's my first time writing on this topic so let me know your thoughts below!

Let's talk about the Chinese zodiac
Tumblr media
There are some major differences between the Western and Chinese systems: for one, the Chinese zodiac is based on the lunar calendar, which assigns a special animal and its reputed attributes (which are not exactly the same as they would be in the West, by the way) to each year in a repeating 12 year cycle. The Chinese zodiac animals are also not associated with constellations spanned by the ecliptic plane. The 12 part cycle corresponds to years, rather than months.
The cycle begins with the rat and ends with the pig. Each animal is associated with specific characteristics (heavenly stem, earthly branch, yin/yang force, trine, and element). The next animal takes over on the first day (new moon day) of the Chinese lunar new year.
The animal signs assigned by year represent how others perceive you or how you present yourself. It is a common misconception that the animals assigned by year are all there is to it. In fact, there are also animals assigned by month, day, and hour, which correspond to the Four Pillars of Destiny, known as shēng chén bā zì in Chinese, which literally translates to "birth time eight characters". The ancient Chinese astrological concept is that a person's destiny or fate can be divined by the two sexagenary cycle characters assigned to their birth year, month, day, and hour.
The Chinese zodiac is derived according to the Five Elements Theory (metal, wood, water, fire, earth). Every sign is associated with 5 elements with relations, among the 5 elements, of interpolation, interaction, over-action, and counter-action: the common law of motions and changes in the universe. Different people born under each animal sign are believed to have different personalities. Practitioners of Chinese astrology will consult the traditional details with their compatibilities to offer putative guidance for life, career, marriage, and parenthood.

Okay, fine! I'll talk about the zodiac! Consider this a sort of addendum to the oracle bone script posts I've already made.
So we all know the Chinese zodiac, right? Twelve animals on a wheel, each corresponding to a different year: Rat, Ox, Tiger, Rabbit, Dragon, Snake, Horse, Goat, Monkey, Rooster, Dog, and Pig in that exact order; according to legend, this was determined thanks to the order in which they arrived either at a banquet or the finish line at a race, both hosted by the Jade Emperor himself. There's a little more to it than that, but because astrology in general is kinda complicated as is, I'll try to simplify this as much as I can.
Just to get into this briefly, the FIVE ELEMENTS, or wuxing, are comprised of Wood (growth; Spring), which feeds Fire (flowering; Summer), which produces Earth (transitional period), which bears Metal (harvesting; Autumn), which collects Water (retreat; Winter), which nourishes Wood.
Meanwhile, YIN AND YANG of course refers to the philosophical concept of interdependent and contrary forces; Yin is associated with negative energy while Yang is positive, but neither is solely good or evil. Even in the symbols themselves, there's always a little bit of Yang in Yin and a bit of Yin in Yang.
Also associated with the zodiac are the FOUR PILLARS OF DESTINY, an astrological concept used to determine a person's fate by looking into their birth year, month, day, and hour, with each pillar containing one Heavenly Stem (associated with the Elements) or Earthly Branch (associated with the animals).
But back to the animals themselves! Of course, quite a few of them appear in JttW already, but what exactly do the signs themselves represent? Well, I'll tell ya! Also, something to note, some animals are given multiple translations (ex: Shǔ has been translated to mean either rat or mouse), so I'll be going with the ones I'm most familiar with.
RAT, OX, TIGER
Tumblr media
The RAT, or shǔ, is the first sign in the Chinese zodiac. Associated with Water as its Fixed Element and Yang, the Rat is said to be clever, curious, and ambitious, but that same ambition may lead to its downfall if not careful. The Rat also tends petty and quick-tempered and is best compatible with the OX, DRAGON, and MONKEY.
The OX, or niú, has Earth as its Fixed Element and is associated with Yin. A strong and persistent sign, the Ox is seen as grounded and dependable, but also stubborn and quick to anger to the point of holding grudges. The Ox is best compatible with the RAT, SNAKE, and ROOSTER.
Associated with Wood and Yang, the TIGER, or hǔ, is independent and confident, but may also be arrogant and imprudent. It is best compatible with the HORSE and DOG.
RABBIT, DRAGON, SNAKE
Tumblr media
The RABBIT, or tù, associated with Wood and Yin, is creative and intuitive, but rarely does it listen to others, preferring to trust its own judgement instead. The Rabbit may also be prone to cowardice, irresponsibility, and selfishness and is best compatible with the GOAT, DOG, and PIG.
The only mythological creature in the Zodiac, the DRAGON, or lóng, one with Earth and Yang, is a charismatic free spirit, but may also be short-tempered, egotistical, and demanding. The Dragon is best compatible with the RAT, MONKEY, and ROOSTER.
Contrary to how it tends to be perceived in the West, the SNAKE, or shé, is a wise and patient creature with a connection to Fire and Yin, but it's also prone to experiencing feelings of jealousy and insecurity. The Snake is best compatible with the OX and ROOSTER.
HORSE, GOAT, MONKEY
Tumblr media
Spirited and athletic in body and mind, the HORSE, or mǎ, with a connection to Fire and Yang, will prioritize what matters most over everything else. However, due to its energetic nature, the Horse may also become impatient and drift towards the next best thing, lending itself towards becoming a selfish and entitled risk taker. It is best compatible with the TIGER, GOAT, and DOG.
The GOAT, or yáng, has Earth as its Fixed Element with a connection to Yin. Calm and collected, it does its best to avoid conflict as much as possible, but they also tend to be quietly observant. However, the Goat may also be unorganized and high-strung to the point of procrastination. It is best compatible with the RABBIT, HORSE, and PIG.
Much like Sun Wukong himself, the MONKEY, or hóu, connected to Metal and Yang, is clever, creative, and playful to the point of hyperactivity. It does, however, also tend to be self-serving, uncommitted, and impulsive. Did somebody say impulsive!? The Monkey is best compatible with the RAT, DRAGON, and SNAKE.
ROOSTER, DOG, PIG
Tumblr media
The ROOSTER, or jī, is associated with Metal and Yin and is not only loyal, honest, and progressive, but a perfectionist as well. As a result, it may be overly critical and obsessive to the point of egocentrism. The Rooster is best compatible with the OX, DRAGON, and SNAKE.
Ever the loyal companion, the DOG, or gǒu, with Earth as its Fixed Element and an association to Yang, is also honest and friendly to the point of going to great lengths to support its loved ones. However, it may also be prone to having a temperamental and overly sensitive nature. The Dog is best compatible with the TIGER, RABBIT, HORSE.
And last but not least, there's the PIG, or zhū. Drawn to Water and tied with Yin, this sign is intelligent, compassionate, and accepting, but may also try to avoid making decisions and appear unmotivated as a result. The Pig is best compatible with the RABBIT and GOAT.
As each sign has a Fixed Element, so does each year, which may end up affecting that sign's personality as well. For example, the Water Tiger of 2022 may have a different personality from the Metal Tiger of 2010. Due to the Cycle, it takes sixty years for a sign to go back to a certain element.
And as a few honorable mentions...
LION
Tumblr media
According to at least one legend, it was the Lion—not the Tiger—who was the third animal in the Chinese zodiac, until the Lion grew to be too ferocious and caused much chaos for the Mortal Realm, so the Jade Emperor tasked the Tiger to put a stop it, eventually rewarding the creature with not just a place on the Zodiac afterwards, but forehead markings as well. Markings that resemble the Chinese character for King, wáng ().
Tumblr media
It's for this reason the Tiger is known as the King of Beasts.
But the Tiger wasn't always known for its strength. All that changed when it approached a much smaller member of the felidae family for training, the...
CAT
Tumblr media
According to another legend, the reason the Cat is not in the Chinese zodiac is because it was sabotaged by the Rat, hence why the two are predator and prey respectively. It is however included in the Vietnamese zodiac, replacing the Rabbit, so the two share the same traits.
And just for fun, one of my favorite podcasts actually did a retelling of the Lion vs. Tiger story to ring in the Year of the Tiger months ago. So, enjoy!

How do the Zodiac Signs Differ in Different Cultures?
Western Zodiacs ♈️♉️♊️♋️♌️♍️♎️♏️♐️♑️♒️♓️
Western Zodiacs are the most well-known zodiac signs in the world. Each Zodiac is paired with a specific element which is Water, Fire, Earth, and air. The Zodiacs that are partnered with Water are Cancer, Scorpio, and Pisces. The signs paired with Fire are Aries, Leo, and Sagittarius. The signs pared with the earth element are Taurus, Virgo, and Capricorn. The sign that is paired with the Air element is Gemini, Libra, and Aquarius.
Chinese Zodiacs 🐉🐍🐎🐏🐒🐓🐕‍🦺🐖🐁🐂🐅🐇
The Chinese Zodiac is also as much recognized as the Western Zodiacs. However, instead of the common western Zodiac Signs, Chinese signs are a little different. Chinese Zodiacs are based on the year you were born and then the dates. The Chinese Zodiacs are based on animal creatures: The Rat, The Ox, The Tiger, The Rabbit, The Dragon, The Snake, The Horse, The Goat, The Monkey, The Rooster, The Dog, and The Pig.
Instead of the classic element that the westerners have, China has the 5 elements: Water, Fire, Metal, Wood, and Earth. Depending on the person each animal can be in water rabbit, yang metal rabbit, a yin fire rabbit, yang earth rabbit, and yin wood rabbit.
Hindu Zodiacs
🕉♈️♉️♊️♋️♌️♍️♎️♏️♐️♑️♒️♓️ 🌙
Theirs are three branches to their Zodiacs. There is Siddhanta which is Hindu astronomy, Samhita which predicts major events, and Hora which is more detailed predictions.
Hindu Zodiac signs are very similar to the western zodiacs, however, Hindu Zodiac signs are more focused on the moon than the westerners are on the sun. Hindus believe that the moon sign is more important than the star sign.
Celtic Tree Zodiacs 🌱🌿☘️🍀🍃🌾🍁🍂
Celtic Tree Zodiac is a little similar to the Western Zodiacs because they are also based on the date of your birth. however, they are very different because they use their love of nature and trees in their zodiac. Depending on when you were born, you would be connected to 1 out of the 13 sacred trees.
Egyptian Zodiacs
The Egyptians were searching for knowledge and believed that the information for people’s fates was tied to the heavens above so they used the stars and planets. their astrology has been brought down to 12-star constellations.
Each star sign is based on gods and goddesses such as Amon-Ra, Anubis, Horus, and Osiris among others. Your individual sign represents your character, behaviour, and skills.
Native American
Native American shares a great love for animals and used natural animals as their inspiration for their zodiac. They believe that animals and nature are associated with birth months, they also believe that the time of the year a person is born would affect their personality.
Why I chose the Western Zodiac Signs
♑♒♋♓♈♉♊♋♌♍♎♏⛎♐
The reason I chose western is that those are the star signs that are most common and most people will be more familiar with. Also I would have used the Chinese zodiac because that is the second zodiac that I know of, however, I didn’t because there are already too many shows that used Chinese zodiacs and are hardly any with the western zodiac signs.
For example, Miraculous Ladybug, Fruits Basket, etc.

I just wanted to do something different.

Interesting Facts About The Zodiac
Whether you read your horoscope faithfully, or you do not even remember your own zodiac sign, here's a fun list to learn more about this ancient system of divination.
Astrology developed before the Copernican Revolution. As a result, the zodiac is based on the incorrect assumption that the sun moves around the Earth, passing through the different star constellations.
The modern zodiac's 12 signs were finalized in ancient Greece, and is directly based on Ptolemy's writings in Egypt in the 100s CE
Saint Augustine of Hippo published a criticism of astrology in opposition to early Christians who were trying to cast horoscopes for Christ
Ancient Babylonians had their own zodiac of 12 signs, including a scale and a pair of twins
In India, astrological predictions are based on the 12 zodiac signs, which are the same as western signs, and the five elements fire, earth, water, air, and ether, each of which correspond to a planet
The Chinese zodiac runs on a sixty-year cycle of 12 signs (rat, rooster, dragon, etc) combined with the five phases (wood, fire, metal, water, earth)

Taoism and Astrology: The Creation of the Taoist (Chinese) Zodiac by Isabela Tablan
CHIN 206 Blog Post #1
Word Count: 523
In most of the Western world, especially in Christian-centric countries, astrology is considered a pseudoscience that is sinful and a false, idolatrous belief system. However, in ancient Chinese religion Taoism, astrology and zodiac were incorporated into religion. Taoist zodiac, astrology, and the positioning of constellations in space influenced how people in China and countries around East Asia look at their destiny or “future.”
The religion and philosophy of Taoism in China, dating back to the early 500 B.C.E and the philosopher Lao Tzu, has influenced Chinese culture for centuries. The present-day Chinese zodiac and Chinese calendar are associated with Taoism and Taoist beliefs.
Tumblr media
Taoism Philosopher, Lao Tzu
Taoism is rooted in the belief of energy, rather than a god. Rather, Taoist beliefs hold that humans and animals should live in harmony with the Tao, otherwise known as the universe. Those who believe in Taoism believe in spiritual immortality, in which the spirit of the body will join the universe after death.
Taoist also believed that the constellations and spaces determined a person’s future, similar to what we know today as Chinese astrology or Taoist zodiac. Present-day Taoist zodiac is rooted in Taoism as the it is consistently present with the yin-yang symbol, representing the balancing forces. The yin-yang combines the Taoist zodiac’s five elements in order to read the ten stems, in which the zodiac uses to count days, months, and years. When all elements (Fire, Water Earth, Wood, Metal) are combined, the yin-yang also affects the characteristics of the 12 zodiac animals which we know in present-day Taoist zodiac.
The Taoist zodiac incorporated 12 zodiac animals because Taoism believed that humanity’s relationship with animals was necessary for survival. Thus, the Taoist astrology and the Chinese zodiac were created by Taoist monks that observed animals’ traits. The Taoist monks developed a system of twelve animals for a twelve-year cycle, in which they correlated human attributes with certain years. In 2637 BC, Chinese emperor Huang Ti honored this cycle as the Taoist twelve-year calendar, which is still used today.
Tumblr media
Taoist Zodiac Calendar
Now you may be wondering, what is my Taoist zodiac animal sign? Well, the cycle includes 12 animal signs including the Rat, Ox, Tiger, Rabbit, Dragon, Snake, Horse, Sheep, Monkey, Phoenix (Rooster), Dog, and Pig.
Each animal is associated with different human traits and represents a specific phase of harvest growth. For example, I was born in the year 2000, the year of the Dragon. The Dragon is the fifth sign of the 12 zodiac animals and is associated with the phase that happens when plants are growing intensely and the element of Earth. The Dragon is also represented by the yang part of the universe, indicating a strong life force.

Year of the Dragon and the Chinese symbol
Today, over 1.5 billion people follow the Chinese calendar and the Taoist zodiac, celebrating Lunar New Year. While I do not practice Taoism, growing up, I learned about Lunar New Year and the Chinese zodiac, and what animal I am associated with. I find it fascinating the influence that Taoism had on the Chinese calendar and the belief in Taoist astrology and zodiac. I hope to learn more about Taoism and its philosophical influence in the present day.

How Astrology Compatibility Works
Tumblr media
Astrology was invented several centuries ago when there was certainly no modernization in this world. It is assumed that human beings started studying Zodiac immediately after developing and establishing the standards of measurements. Is among the the point of interest for the human nature ever since. Though, it is yet not proven by the science that there are such forces that can act on individual person according to their signs.
Astrology like-mindedness is the study of astrological signs which tells us around relationship which can be formed between two signs. This investigation uses a person's birth chart to find out the compatibility. May time and positions of all the planets are recorded which in turn establishes this birth chart. Every birth chart is overshadowed by at least one planet but some have two. Every sign in Astrology is termed as energy.
When we find out compatibility somewhere between two people, we actually look for their energies (signs), planets ruling them and houses. One can compare two index charts to find out if they are compatible with each other or not. There are three styles of Astrology studies known all over the world.
1 . Western astrology
charge cards Vedic astrology
Chinese astrology
Western astrology:
West astrology follows the Babylonian methods of the astrology. They are predict the horoscope of the person at specific precious time with the help of person's birth timing. They believe that all the exoplanets have their impact on the person's birth and eventually they gain all their natures. Western psychic reading / psychic readings follows the motions of The sun for predicting the horoscope. In this, place of the Sun when person's birth is used. Sun sign of the person might be decided by the position of the sun in the zodiac.
Vedic Astrology:
Unlike Western astrology, in Hindu or Vedic astrology there is importance of Moon and not the Sun. They look for those positions of the Moon in the constellation. If they want to find out the very compatibility between two people than they would just compare their whole moon signs just like we do in western astrology. With Vedic astrology, every constellation has to serve several real estate to have better compatibility. These properties have their own areas like this:
Varna: 1, Vashya: 2, Tara: 3, Yoni: 4, Graha Maitri: 5, Gana: 6, Bhakoota: 14 and Nadi: 8
They all make total of thirty-eight thus every couple should make at least 18 points to be able to get marry out of 36 points.
Chinese astrology:
Around Chinese astrology, they consider the motion of the Moon around the the earth during its orbit of 28 days. Each day is certainly treated as house or sector. All the 28 can't are grouped in four groups according to the four development of moon.
In Chinese astrology, they have two pursuits behind finding ones chart. It is either to prognosticate about future or to find out lucky days. Lucky days or weeks will be used to start new business, marriage or for any other good reasons. Like western astrology, Chinese astrology has five sun and wind which are as follows: Fire, water, metal, earth and hardwood. They are associated with Mars, Mercury, Venus, Saturn and Jupiter. There are some significant differences shown in this astrology as Belleza which symbolizes the feminine nature in western astrology has the masculine characteristics here.
In Chinese astrology tolv signs are represented by animals. They are rat, ox, tiger, rabbit, dragon, snack, horse, sheep, monkey, prick, dog and pig.

Chinese horoscopes and Miraculous
Hi there!
I actually wrote this article for a Facebook group during the summer, but i had completely forgotten about it until I read the very in-depth analysis of Kagami's role in the series written by @geekgirles . There, she mentioned the bit in Ikari Gozen that had got me started on this research, so I thought why not? let's 'delight' you with this indepth analysis of the four characters of Marinette, Adrien, Luka and Kagami based on what we know of their zodiac signs in the Chinese horoscope. There are a couple of things that may surprise you.
First of all, let's put a lovely wee "keep reading" tag, so it doesn't clog your board, because it's a little long (ah, the understatement!)
Now. Here we are and if you clicked on carry on reading it means that you may be interested so... welcome welcome.
Apologies for the length
Tumblr media
Let's first of all talk about how the Chinese horoscope can give us a clue as of the characters age and date of birth.
In Ikari Gozen we find out that Marinette is a Snake in the Chinese horoscope. This narrows the search for her date of birth to two very precise years. 2013 or 2001. Now... counting that if she was born in 2013 she would be 7 now, it's most likely that she's born in 2001. In the French edition she is revealed instead to be a Leo. Which places her birthday in late July/beginning of August 2001. Kagami instead is revealed to be a Dragon, and a Scorpio, which places her birthday around November 2000. In an official Marinette’s Instagram post her birthday has been revealed as the 20th of November, IIRC.
Tumblr media
Now... not only this is a great deal of trivia information for us fans, which also helps us place the timeline of the story, which hasn't yet reached a full year in Canon from the start (in the Felix episode it's revealed that it's the first anniversary of Emilie’s disappearance. Hence in 3 series the story has advanced only by less than one year). It also helps up place the birthdays of some other characters.
Adrien for example. His birthday was series 1 episode 1, quite far from Marinette's birthday in Befana. So it's likely that he's a dragon like Kagami (which would also make sense thinking that Kagami is a character that mirrors Adrien's life and situation. But this isn't the place to discuss such thing, i refer to the very well developed article written by @geekgirles if you want to know more). A lot of people have theorised that he may be a Libra and be born maybe at the beginning of October, but of this I have no proof.
However, coming back to the Dragon sign it gets even more interesting, guys. If one of you have got more in-depth information and this comes up to be wrong I do apologise. I performed quite of an extensive research on the subject but of course I'm no astrologist so I can be wrong. That said... Not only the Dragon is considered the sign of the Emperor in the Chinese horoscope, and a lucky sign (ha). But 2000 is also the year of the Golden Dragon (metal). What better description than a golden dragon for our handsome sunshine?
Tumblr media
It gets even better when you get to the Dragon man's personality. Loves to be the centre of the attention. Natural flirts (ha! Touché Chat Noir!). Hot headed. Stubborn. Competitive. Naturally attracts money and women. Full of energy. Do I need any more proof that Adrien is a Dragon?
Let's see what the horoscope says about the Snake, and let's compare it to Marinette/Ladybug, so you understand why I'm pretty sure that the production looked this up quite in detail and that Chinese astrology can be at the base of our beloved characters.
Tumblr media
So the Snake woman is intuitive, intelligent, reserved and mysterious, has deep thinking, a mind that goes a mile per minute. Because they are smart and come quickly to solutions, they are great in crisis situations. They're able to step back and consider workable solutions. They are determined, sensual and smart and have innate wisdom. Doesn't this speak Marinette AND Ladybug from a mile?
Now... Luka. Until last week we weren’t really that sure of how old Luka was, Astruc had said that he was a couple of years older than Marinette, but Zag’s website had highlighted that Luka was Juleka’s twin brother which, counting that Juleka was in Marinette’s class, didn’t make any sense. But last weekend Astruc has actually confirmed that Juleka has repeated a year and that yes, Luka is her twin brother.
Tumblr media
Already before knowing this I had a look at the personality of the previous signs in the horoscope, and I had strong feelings that Luka may be a Rabbit, which would make him born in 1999 and one year older than Adrien. And this has been confirmed, so now we know. He is indeed a rabbit. Do you want proof? Rabbit men are calm, extraordinarily polite, and will do everything to avoid conflict. They have control over themselves and are sometimes conservatives. They can be considered a "yes-man", but have a line that they will never cross. They like organising, decorating, helping the wife/gf. They are great friends but don't like getting too close to someone. They are shy, introverted, honest, cuddle-lovers and attention givers. They are associated with the western sign of cancer, which is associated with the moon and the arts. Tell me if this doesn't speak Luka by a mile?
Tumblr media
Now a little bit of trivia that will make you laugh is... in the Chinese horoscope the cat doesn't exist. The legend says that Buddha invited the animals to a dinner, and the mouse tricked the cat and didn't wake him up, making him miss out on being chosen for the horoscope. However in TAIWAN things are different and the Cat takes the place of the RABBIT in the horoscope. The confusion seems to come from the old Chinese word for Rabbit, Mao, which sounds like the Taiwanese word for Cat Mau. So the sign of the Rabbit is also the sign of the Cat. Oh the irony!!
Snakes are yin energy. Rabbits are also yin energy. Dragons are yang energy.
But it gets better! Let's look at love compatibility, shall we? *rubs hands* hehe...
Tumblr media
Dragon man x Dragon woman (Adrien and Kagami) can be steamy and can work only if both have their own realm to shine on, because both are too competitive and can get into competition with each other. They love to be the centre of their world. They're great leaders but want the spotlight and don't settle for less. They're both independent and stubborn and their personality will clash, making it difficult to maintain the relationship going. They require a lot of love and admiration. They will never give in and apparently two dragons have a good physical relationship, mostly.
They CAN work together, but only if each has their own way to shine.
Sorry, Adrigami shippers.
Tumblr media
Dragon man x snake woman (Adrien and Marinette): they can be an excellent couple. They find each other physically attractive. The dragon is bold and full of energy, the snake is appealing in a more subtle way. Excellent romantic relationship, they both have strong personalities that attract each other. They share a degree of savoir-faire that prevents serious concerns. The male dragon will be tempted to stray, but he will know better than doing that, because he knows very well that his companion has hidden poisonous fangs (lol) and is VERY jealous... so he will look but not touch (the wise one will at least). Snake women love success and attention, but they're not as flashy as dragon men so they will be more subtle. Snake women are self-possessive, devoted and can give a good boost of confidence to a dragon man. She will be better at handling finances than him (that wouldn't surprise me in adrienette!). They both like fine things but Snake will teach Dragon to not overspend. Little trivia: the dragon was the sign of the emperor and the snake was the advisor. So they work very well in tandem. Their union will be full of passion and personal satisfaction.
Adrienette is in the stars, guys.
Tumblr media
Now last but not least... Snake woman x Rabbit/cat man (Luka and Marinette, but in a way even Chat Noir and Ladybug): very good couple too, they enjoy great conversation and have great time together. They make great friends. Snake loves the attention Rabbit gives and Rabbit is drawn by her sensuousness. They start as friends and have enticing conversations, which draws them together. When they start dating they realise they have similar tastes. They love cuddling in a hidden corner and will feel safe in their cosy nest to explore each other's sensuality. They can make a strong couple, unless their personalities start clashing. Rabbit can get annoyed at Snake's love for novelty and her extravagance, which may cause friction. If their temper clashes, they can't overcome differences.
So... Lukanette can work too, sorry guys. But as highlighted, it also works very well as a friendship. And sadly it's the same for Ladynoir...
Tumblr media
What I find funny in all of this is that, if this is true, Luka has the Snake miraculous, Marinette is a Snake sign, Luka is a cat sign, Adrien is a cat miraculous, Adrien and Kagami are a dragon sign, Kagami is a dragon miraculous... Jesus what a circle! Add to the mix Marinette as the RAT miraculous and we have a real laugh… (if any of you has ever watched Fruit Basket, the Japanese anime about the Chinese horoscope, you know perfectly well what I’m talking about!) and Snake/Rabbit as friends and potential couple works for both Lukanette AND Ladynoir, counting that rabbit = cat. And then you think about how Chat Noir bounces on his baton and you think "yes that's a rabbit, indeed"!
Any thoughts?
(apologies if this reflection doesn’t make sense to you!)
