I was a Tournament Champion for Sinnoh and Alola-Sinnoh I battle for sometimes in events, but it's been quite some time since I did.

I've been off the radar for a while, most anyone knows of me is that I'm training in Alola. Been like that for years, I thought everyone forgot about me-

Well, world's still standing so I'd say the current Executive Champions are doing a good job. Of course I looked up to a good handful when I was starting off as a trainer, I owe them a lot.

I still look up to them quite a bit, it'd be a childhood dream to see them, or even battle.

New Years Kiss x Keller and Andrew @nightskymuses

Staying in with Andrew was far better than any birthday she had had in years. No holiday parties, no fancy dress she couldn’t breathe in. No. This year, she sat with Andrew and his dog, ate an amazing little dinner, a piece of cake of three from a cake that wasn’t made by a trainer or a professional chef, and frankly she liked it better that way. It reminded her of the twinkies her dad used to sneak with her in the glove box of the Chevelle back in her garage up the mountain from where they were now. And to top it off, a kiss from her.. Whatever they were to usher in the new year. “Happy New Year.. And thank you. Best birthday I’ve had in a really long time.”

my pal @thegoblinbee tagged me in a similar one of these a little while ago and I didn’t do it, so I’ll do this one (even though I’ve done a dozen near-identical ones before)

Name/nickname: I go by Jonas, and little else at the moment. Natalie calls me Babe, and sometimes Jonaboob. Briefly at university I was known ironically as Stud Muffin, and at school my friends affectionately referred to me as Knobs; some of them still do, nine years later.

Zodiac sign: Not that useful for learning about me

Height: 5'8″. In contrast to Bee I have always considered myself way too short.

Favourite musicians: In the last few days I’ve been listening to Doe’s latest album Grow Into It, and enjoying it way more than I’d have expected. It’s so effortlessly catchy. Lately I’ve also been listening to a lot of Elliot Smith’s Either Or album, Whitechapel’s self-titled release, and Emily Hope Jacobsen’s The Belated Archives. Long-time favourites of mine include Reuben/Jamie Lenman, Tool/A Perfect Circle, Russian Circles, Chevelle, and Placebo.

Last song i listened to: Cruiserweight covering Coolidge, originally by Descendants

Song stuck in my head: at work today I had a medley of snippets from Doe’s album running through my head, in testament to how catchy so Grow Into It is.

Amount of sleep: 4-6 hours a night has become pretty common over the past six months or so, and even then it’s often quite broken sleep. 7 or 8 hours is very rare. It’s a wonder I still manage to form even half-coherent sentences.

Lucky number: Numbers may bring fortune or grief, but never luck (so I believe).

What i’m wearing: an awesome @qwertee shirt with Cyndaquil using (probably) Fire Spin, and my work trousers

Dream job: I’m not sure. I really want to write, but for a job? I don’t know if I’d enjoy it then. As far as vaguely possible job prospects currently open to me I’d quite like to step up to a Trainer role for the company I already work for.

Dream trip: face-first into a pile of marshmallows.

Favourite food: it’s cliche, but pizza is just fucking great. Doughnuts are also fan-fucking-tastic.

Instruments: I haven’t sat at a drum kit in 4 years, but I could still play well enough. I certainly still do in my head just about every day.

Languages: “Lady, I only speak two languages - English, and Bad English!”

Random fact: The tendons across the back of my hands aren’t properly attached at the knuckles, known as subluxing extensor tendons. It already causes problems that will only get worse over time.

Aesthetic: unnoticeable arsehole with about as much fashion sense as self-respect - just a little, but not really enough.

Alphabet Tag Game

I was tagged by my darling @raising-hells !! Thank you, sweetheart - XOXOX! 

A - age: On my last plane flight, the man sitting next to me guessed I was 22. I said that was very nice and then asked him how old he really thought I was and he replied, “I thought you were 24 or 25, but if I had said that and you were 23, you would have been offended, so I said 22.” He was way off, but I’ll accept that, lol! 25 is good, lol! So, basically, I’m your big sister who looks 25 and we’ll just leave it at that! ;)

B - biggest fears: I live in Florida and we have the occasional flying cockroach in the air here. I hate everything about cockroaches and believe this fear manifested exponentially after reading Kafka’s Metamorphosis (don’t read it, please). I especially hate how they look at me when I’m screaming at them whenever I encounter one because they seem so intelligent and that fact somehow makes them even scarier. I was absolutely petrified when I saw one on my front porch trying with freakishly calculated determination to headbutt its way under my front door, attacking it from different angles. I screamed the entire time I was drowning it in bug spray and used up half the can just pinning it to the spot with the pressure of the bug spray stream until by the grace of God, it stopped moving. I can kill them, but Gryffindors would cover their faces in shame and move along quickly, as it is some seriously undignified business. 

C - current time: 11:11PM.

D - drink you last had: Water.

E - everyday starts with: Hitting the snooze button.

F - favourite song: Oh my, I have so many. Will shorten to say songs are like people; some of them you love from the very first moment you hear them. I loved Bad Blood by Bastille the very first time I heard it and still love it. I love Take Out the Gunman, Face to the Floor, The Clincher, and Hunter Eats Hunter by Chevelle in that order because I loved all those songs and then after I heard Hunter Eats Hunter and found out it was about being attacked by a gargoyle while taking the trash out at night, I decided then and there, without a shadow of a doubt, that Chevelle had to be one of my very favorite bands ever and so they are.

G - ghosts, are they real?: Holy ones, yes, and I definitely believe angels are real. 

H - hometown: Currently, Tampa, Florida, USA

I - in love with: Chevelle, Deadpool, The Driver from Drive, Captain America, The Punisher, dairy products, and last, but not least, Castiel/Misha Collins about whom I have this blog

J - jealous of: Oh dear…I hate to think I am jealous of anyone for anything. Perhaps for people who I feel have had things come so easily in one particular area of their life that mine has proved to have been a neverending, soul crushing struggle. But in the grand scheme of things, I don’t see as my jealousy amounts to much, as we are all not so different in that from time to time, we all face some struggle in some area of our lives, whether it is readily apparent to others or not. 

K - killed someone: I only lay waste figuratively to people during oral arguments. Ex-boyfriends have especially hated this ability as they got tired of losing! Hahahaha! lol! :)

L - last time you cried: A few weeks ago, after watching Logan for the third time. That movie deserves an Oscar - it made me feel so much, achieved epic levels of savagery, and was utterly relatable from both Logan’s and Laura’s perspectives. I also love that men are not ashamed to say it made them cry at the end. What an experience. 

M - middle name: Jane

N - number of siblings: 1 (one).

O - one wish: To finish writing my book. 

P - person you called or texted last: My mentor who is like a dad to me and a total badass

Q - questions you are always asked: I’m not sure about questions, but I get called pet names by people quite often and get mothered and fussed over a lot as if I am a cute innocent thing people like to shelter and take care of (even at my ripe old age of 25, *cough, cough*, although I got it more when I was younger). I have no problem with this and think it’s sweet. In different cities I have traveled, there are different ones people use (e.g. honey, sweetie, baby girl, mami, pretty girl, etc) and they mean well and are not creepy, so it is totally fine by me. 

R - reasons to smile: So many. 

S - song you last sang: Can’t Smile Without You by Barry Manilow - so sad, happy, sweet, wistful, cute, and silly at the same time in a sweep-you-off-your-feet-in-a-good-way-and-start-dancing kind of way

T - time you last woke up: This morning, trying to stave off death and peel my eyes open in time to make it to church (was still 15 minutes late).

U - underwear color: Oh gracious. Um, it is black with white skulls and pink hearts on it.

V - vacation destination: dream locations - Japan, Ireland, skateboarding in Iceland a la Walter Mitty, swimming with manta rays at night in Hawaii

W - worst habit: Throwing up like the Kung Fu Panda when I exercise. My personal trainer was surprised at first and then worried. She takes it very easy on me now and I don’t know if I will ever lose that pesky 10 pounds. Sadly, it doesn’t come off in spite of my ridiculous heaving spells. 

X - any x-rays: Of my arm when I was a kid and fractured it falling off the jungle gym. 

Y - your favourite food: If you are what you eat, I am a pile of Hershey’s Kisses and a couple scoops of Rocky Road ice cream splashed in milk. I also love Japanese, Lebanese, Thai, and Indian food, and lasagna.

Animal trainer turned TV host of Lucky Dog Brandon McMillan is living his dream life. “You have two options: live the life you dream, or dream of a life you’re not living,” he tells Motor Trend.

Each week he saves a dog that would’ve been euthanized and trains it for a home, transporting each in his 2012 Jeep Grand Cherokee. And although McMillan often describes certain cars as “sexy,” the Jeep is more utilitarian than hot. But it serves its purpose and hasn’t let him down, so it’s a keeper.

“That’s my dog car, man. I’m going to drive that thing till it dies. I’ve been a Jeep guy my whole life. It’s a comfy ride. The only drawback is the [electrical system] has been a little glitchy, and that’s a Jeep thing. It’s almost like Jaguar,” he jokes.

This is McMillan’s third Jeep, which he rates an 8. “I had a Wrangler and a Cherokee before this. I’ve always liked them. They’re tough, and they’re a perfect mix of rugged with that sexy look that I like. The beauty of Jeeps [is that] you can beat them up and they’re still good. I’m not very demanding when it comes to cars, as long as the damn thing gets me from here to there. Hopefully if I crash, it’s safe. I haven’t tested that part out yet,” he says with a laugh.

McMillan has thought about getting the newer Grand Cherokee. “They made minor tweaks to make it better. Maybe that’s my next one,” he says. “Although I will say, those Toyota Tundras are looking pretty sexy right now. They’re just known for their reputation. They have to be the most reliable car on the planet.”

McMillan’s decision to buy the Jeep represented a conscious choice to support the American auto industry. “I do like classic American cars, and since I wouldn’t drive one every day, why not get just a modern American car?” he says.

The Jeep isn’t a loaded model. The SUV has power windows and a CD player, and that’s about it, McMillan says.

“It’s a dog car at the end of the day, and when you have a dog car, you don’t want it too nice. You don’t want it too fancy because the dogs will make sure that it’s not nice and fancy by the time they’re done with it,” he says.

He’s run errands in the past and left dogs inside for a few minutes with the car running and the AC on. When he came back, they’ve made a mess. “If you’ve got a $100,000 BMW and you put a bunch of dogs in it, I don’t think so,” he says, laughing.

McMillan adds that he doesn’t feel like he’s missing out on a car that has all the bells and whistles. “To me, a car [should be] like an old pair of shoes. Yeah, they’re not the prettiest things, but they’re so comfortable,” he says.

Car he learned to drive in

McMillan learned to drive in an early 1980s Toyota. “It was already 15 to 20 years past its prime, but then again, it’s a Toyota so it was still running fine,” he says. “It had four different wheels, it was rusted, I couldn’t even tell you the paint color because it didn’t have an actual color. It was a stick shift, too, so to this day I still know how to drive a stick because of that.”

He taught himself how to drive. “Driving is not that difficult. My mother taught me a few things and driving a stick. I’d be a liar to say I didn’t steal my parents’ car a couple times when I was a kid just to go up the street and back,” he says. “What I’ve learned is some people have a natural ability to drive well. I knew how to drive really well from day one. It wasn’t much of a learning curve for me. I failed the written test twice, but the driving test was easy.”

The windshield wiper on the old Toyota didn’t work, so when it rained he’d wear a diving mask and snorkel and stick his head out the window.

McMillan lived in Hawaii when he was a teenager and was able to get his license at 15. “Learning to drive in Hawaii is fun because you learn to drive on the roads and off the roads. Off-road driving in Hawaii is awesome,” he says.

McMillan saved $1,500 to buy the Toyota. “It had no accessories, it had no radio, it had no windshield wipers, all the tires were pretty much bald, but it ran. And I ran that thing into the ground!” he says. “And it was still running after I ran it into the ground. It just wanted to live.”

McMillan made money from jobs like mowing neighbors’ lawns and walking and training dogs, and he saved his lunch money for five years. “I would get $2 a day for lunch, and I would put the money under my carpet every single day, and I would eat the free lunch at school, which was a peanut butter and jelly and a milk,” he says. “I was able to acquire enough money, and when you’re in your teenage years, you think $1,000 is like a million.”

McMillan doesn’t have his dream car yet, since he used money he’s made to buy a ranch. “My ultimate dream with a car is to get a 1966 Chevelle convertible, midnight blue. That right there, in my opinion, is a dream car. The bottom line is, the older that car gets, the better it gets,” he says. “These new cars, they’re built to last three to five years. It’s no fluke that these 1960s hot rod classics get better over time, and the rarer they get, the more valuable they get. I don’t see a 2012 Jeep Grand Cherokee becoming a classic like a ’66 Chevelle.”

He plans to get this dream car in the next couple of years. “They’re hard to come by, though; they really are,” he says.

Favorite road trip

McMillan’s favorite road trip memory was the time he drove to Oregon on the Pacific Coast Highway over two days. “We did PCH the entire time. What gorgeous scenery that is,” he says. “You’ve got places in Central and Northern California, where, especially [in] Northern California near Oregon, the PCH turns into sheer cliffs. You’re riding pretty much over the ocean. It’s awesome.”

He took that drive when he was filming Great White Serial Killer for Discovery’s Shark Week in Northern California and Oregon. But McMillan also loves Mulholland Drive.

“This is my favorite driving moment ever—about 10 years ago I had a client, very wealthy guy,” McMillan says. “He called me up and said, ‘I hear you’re a dog trainer. Can you get to my house tomorrow, 12 o’clock?’”

It turns out the client’s dog was scared of being in the car. The dog would shake and panic and drool with anxiety the whole time. So McMillan said the solution, besides opening the window, was to drive the dog in the car a lot. The client didn’t have time to do that, so it was up to McMillan.

“He opens his garage, he has a collection of supercars—Ferraris, Lambos, Bentleys,” McMillan says. “I’m like, ‘Oh, which one am I training him to?’ He goes, ‘All of them, pal.’”

McMillan did that for six weeks. “He put me on his insurance for every single one of these cars. I would take these $350,000 sports cars out. Of course, I had a dog in there, but I’d always bring the dog back and go for a quick little run myself,” he says with a chuckle.

He drove the dog all along Mulholland. “There is something to be said about these sports cars. When you pay that much for them, you see them hug the road much more than a Jeep Cherokee,” he says. “I had never been in a Ferrari in my life and [heard] all this hype. Then you drive one one day, [and] you’re like, ‘Wow, it’s all it’s cracked up to be and more.’”

It turned out the dog was afraid of getting carsick, and the remedy was a little booster seat so he could see out the window, as well as opening the window for fresh air.

“Problem was solved. Of course I had to drive the dogs plenty of times to let him know he wasn’t going to get sick,” he says.

Each week, viewers watch McMillan work with dogs that were going to be euthanized. He prepares the dogs for new owners who are well matched to them.

“So I save their life, bring them back to my ranch. I rehabilitate them [and] train them tailor made to the family that I’m going to give them to,” he says. “It’s a long journey. I’m training service dogs and therapy dogs.”

It takes weeks or sometimes—in the case of service dogs—months to train them. And there are times when McMillan finds it hard to let a dog go.

“There’s been a few in the past, especially the service dogs, because the longer I have the dog, the harder it is to get rid of them,” he says. “If I have them for weeks, it’s not that difficult to release them, but if I have them for six or eight months, it’s tough, because they feel like a family member.”
