2023 Northeast Comic Con Spring Edition Wrap-Up
Over the years I’ve been lucky enough to cover the Northeast Comic Con (read my coverage here), a fun cool convention for lovers of comics, pop culture, and collectibles. Last Summer, I attended their 2022 Collectibles Extravaganza and it was my first convention since 2019. Felt good to be back!
Here is my lightning round of guests I got to speak with at this year’s con:
Roger Kabler is a funny comedian and in the last few years he has been doing the Robin Williams Experience, where he does his excellent Robin Williams impression. I spoke with him last Summer and he had just finished making an independent film Being Robin about his experience of returning to comedy after Robin Williams died. His film is doing some screenings and it’s worth checking out. See details here.
Cowboy Mach Bell is another celebrity I spoke with last Summer. He was the singer for the Joe Perry Project from 1982-1984 among many other bands and he has written some books about his experiences as well. Since last time I saw him, he has suffered some health issues, but I’m happy to say he’s back singing and his new band Mach Bell Experience are playing Geno’s Rock Club in Portland, ME this Sat. 3/18.
Melanie Chartoff is someone who has popped up in all corners of pop culture: acting, voiceover, author, coach, theater, TV, and film. I was a big fan as a teen of TV’s Parker Lewis Can’t Lose and she was so good as Principal Musso. A decade earlier she was a cast member on the sketch show Fridays along with Larry David, Michael Richards and more. But probably the funniest thing she did IMHO was the episodes of Seinfeld as Robin, George’s single-mom girlfriend. In “The Fire” episode, George attends the birthday for Robin’s son and upon the fear of a fire, he pushes everyone out of his way. I asked Melanie how she managed to keep a straight face in that episode and she replied “well, you know, I’m an actress, right?”. Well put! Robin later returned for the finale when Jerry and his friends were on trial.
Charlie Schlatter has been a highly prolific actor and voiceover since the 80s. I first became aware of him when he was the lead in 1988′s 18 Again, where he and his grandfather (played by George Burns) switch brains. It was actually one of my favorite brain-switcher movies of that era. I asked Charlie about making that film and he said “working with George Burns, to this day (I’m an old man now), but it was one of the best experiences of my life. He was the most generous and gracious human being you can imagine. It was like working with my true Grandfather everyday.” In 1990, Schlatter played the title character in the TV adaptation of Ferris Bueller. I told him I was a big fan of that TV show (it lasted 13 episodes) and he said “You were the one?” [laughs]. I was a big fan of the John Hughes movies Ferris Bueller’s Day Off, which was showing the character on a day off, but it was cool to have a TV series that showed what the character was like in school on a typical day. He was very appreciative I enjoyed that show.
I first met Samantha Mathis at the 2015 Rock and Shock festival. She and I have a mutual friend in common and I reminded her at the Northeast Comic Con. In 2020, when I tweeted about the anniversary of Pump Up the Volume, which she starred in, she liked it on Twitter! She has appeared in tons of gems including that great episode of Curb Your Enthusiasm, where she sat next to Larry on the plan. This time I saw Ms. Mathis, I was excited to talk to her about working with John Woo on his 1996 film Broken Arrow. I mentioned that I actually made a film To Be John Woo (a tribute and parody of John Woo films). She was congratulatory when I told her Mr. Woo sent me a Christmas card the following year after he saw it! On working with Mr. Woo, she said “I was in awe of being in John Woo’s presence. It’s no secret that Quentin Tarantino heavily lifted from John Woo in the beginning of his career. So, I was just in awe of watching how he shot things. There was a sequence where he must’ve set up ten different cameras at different angles. I had just never seen someone use the camera that way before.” That movie was one of Woo’s early Hollywood movies and there’s some phenomenal action sequences in it.
This convention is always a fun time! Big thanks to Gary Sohmers and his team as well as my friend comedian Ken Reid of the TV Guidance Counselor podcast (I was a guest in 2015) who hosted several panels at this year’s fest.

Hi,
I make period drama style gifs. If you use gif packs, please like and reblog them. Most of my projects are already ready, but every day I post no more than 190 gifs. Because that was the reason why my previous account was blocked.
I tried to make gif packs in a format more familiar to you with a link to a separate page. However, unfortunately, I did not succeed because of the large format of high-quality gifs.
I want to explain about color processing. Usually, I improve the contrast, brightness and saturation, but leave the naturalness of the film. I don't make the contours too sharp because I like the aesthetic of it looking like a natural image.

Can't wait for the day we get a Luigi's Mansion movie.
Speaking of which, me and my friends joked around about who should play who in the movies moving forward, so I came up with some of my own suggestions:
Daisy - Samantha Mathis ( the actress who played her in the live action film) or Kristen Wig (You can thank Pringus McDingus for that idea)
Rosalina - Susan Egan
Wario - Danny DeVito (I mean why would he not make sense, he also has worked with Charlie Day)
Waluigi - Tom Kenny
Toadette - Kristen Schaal
Toadsworth - John Cleese
E. Gadd - Wallace Shawn
Funky Kong - James Franco ( I think you know why)
And finally Jordan Peele should play someone opposite to Keegan-Michael Key's Toad (Maybe another Toad or a Koopa or something)

HOME: Book 6 - CHAPTER EIGHT
MASTERLIST
“This is the twelfth time, Ronnie. Twelfth.”
Veronica chuckled as she and Charlie turned the corner and made their way through the Courtyard. They were on their way to the Quidditch Pitch for the first game of the season, which would see Ravenclaw playing Hufflepuff.
“Yeah, but you know Percy, Charlie. He will come complaining to you if they so much as breathe in a way he doesn’t like. The twins could be doing absolutely nothing, but he’ll manage to find something to complain about.”
Charlie raised his eyebrows and nodded knowingly. “I know. But twelve times, I mean come on. And that’s just this week. I really don’t know how much more I can take.”
Veronica smiled as she shook her head. “I’ll talk to him.”
Charlie pulled her into his side and beamed. “Thanks, Ronnie! You’re the best.”
***
As Veronica stood in the tent and watched her team get ready for the game, she felt her chest tighten and the anxiety she had been feeling since the start of the year had come back tenfold. Quietly, she slipped out of the changing room tent and breathed in the fresh air as she paced back and forth, trying hard not to think about everything that could go wrong during the game.
“Oh no, I know that look. You’re overthinking again… as usual.”
Veronica had her back to the stranger, but she didn’t need to see them to know who they were. She knew that voice like the back of her hand. Spinning around quickly, she ran and jumped into Reggie’s arms, hugging him tightly. “You came! I can’t believe you’re actually here!”
“Are you kidding? I wouldn’t miss this for the world, V.”
“I’ve missed you so much this year. It’s been hell without you.”
“Oh hush, I’m sure you’ve been doing great.”
Veronica shook her head, but changed the subject, knowing she didn’t have much time. “Do you have anything you need to rush back to or do you have time to grab a Butterbeer after the game?”
Reggie shrugged. “I’m all yours today, so we can grab a Butterbeer, for sure.”
“Yay, I’m so excited to catch up with you!”
“Me too. And you can bring Charlie too if you’d like. I’m sure he’ll want to spend time with you after the game.”
“No, no, no. I see him everyday, but I never get to see you anymore. It’s fine. He’ll survive a few hours without me.” Veronica chuckled before turning at the sound of her name being called from behind her.
“Sorry to interrupt, Captain, but Madam Hooch is looking for you. I think we’re about to get started.”
“All good, thanks Simon. I’ll be right in.”
“Cool. It’s great to see you, Reggie.”
“You too, Simon!”
Once Simon disappeared into the tent, Veronica turned back to her friend. “Well… wish us luck, Reg. I think we’re gonna need it.”
“Don’t do that! You’ll be great! I’ll see you after, okay? Do you want me to come find you here or do you want to meet me at the Three Broomsticks?”
“No, let’s meet there. I’ll have to find Charlie and let him know.”
“So, I take it you and him still haven’t told each other how you feel, huh?”
“Oh Merlin, not this again. I’ve got to go!”
“Veronica! Why–”
“Sorry, I can’t hear you! I’m gone!”
Reggie shook his head and chuckled as he made his way into the commentary box with the professors. Those two could not be more oblivious.
***
Veronica watched as Walker Mathis raced against the Hufflepuff Seeker, each with an arm outstretched. This was it. One of them was about to end the game and win it for their team. The score had been neck and neck the whole game, so this would be the deciding factor.
As Veronica watched him, she thought about how much he had grown into the position over the years. It felt like it was yesterday when he had been the reserve Seeker and replaced Maribelle for a few games when her grades needed to be improved in Veronica’s fourth year. Back then he had been such a shy kid, but over the years, he had gained so much confidence. He had rocked the tryout and had earned the permanent Seeker position. But even the growth and improvement she had seen in him from the tryouts at the start of the season were impressive. She was so proud of him.
“Oof!” Veronica lost all the breath in her lungs as she felt something hard hit her back like a ton of bricks. Turning, she saw one of the Hufflepuff Beaters watching her with fear in their eyes and realized it had been a Bludger. That’s what I get for letting my thoughts distract me. Both Seekers had lost the Snitch, and the game had continued around her without her even noticing.
“Shit, Captain, are you okay? I’m so sorry, I didn’t realize you were distracted… I should have stopped it from hitting you.”
“No, no. My fault, Mavis. You’re doing great. Keep sending Bludgers my way, we need to get their Seeker out of here.”
***
“Yes! That’s how you do it, Walker! Hell yeah!”
Simon and Veronica lifted the small boy onto one of their shoulders each and cheered as they bounced him up and down, while the whole team jumped around them as they celebrated their first victory of the season.
Putting him down, Veronica put her arm around his shoulders and looked at her team. “You all did bloody brilliant today. Seriously, great job everyone. Now go and celebrate. And for those of you old enough, one round of Butterbeer is on me at the Three Broomsticks. Mavis, there’s always next year, love. This year, you can grab a pumpkin juice from the Great Hall.” Veronica chuckled as she walked them all to the changing rooms, and once they had all changed out of their Quidditch robes, she shooed them out. “And remember, there’s no practice tomorrow! You get a day off. See you all on Tuesday!”
As her team made their way down the path towards the school, Veronica felt arms wrap around her from behind. The smell of vanilla and the outdoors filled her senses, and she felt instantly at home. Turning in his arms, she smiled up at Charlie. “Hi.”
“Hi. Congratulations on your win, that was a great game.”
“You think so? I feel like we could have done better.”
“Ronnie, you’re the Captain. Of course, you’re going to think that. But believe me, it was great.”
Veronica sighed in relief as she lay her cheek on his chest and hugged him tight. “Thanks. It means a lot.”
“Of course, love. You wanna grab a Butterbeer to celebrate?”
Veronica cringed as she pulled away from him slightly. “I’m sorry, Charlie, but Reggie came to watch the game, and I–”
“Oh, gotcha. For sure, it’s all good. I’ll see you later then.”
“I’m sorry, Charlie.”
“It’s fine, Ronnie. Honestly, I know how much you miss him, so this’ll be good for you. Besides, I have to finish that essay for Snape anyway.”
Veronica’s jaw dropped and her eyes widened as she stared at him. “That essay that he assigned to us last week?” Charlie nodded. “The one that’s due tomorrow?” He nodded again. “The one you told me you finished already!?!”
Charlie chuckled as he scratched his head awkwardly. “Yes! Okay? I know, but I just can’t wrap my head around Golpalott’s Third Law. It isn’t clicking for me.”
“Charlie! He isn’t asking you to brew an antidote for a mixed poison. He’s just asking you to write a bloody essay about the Law. It’s not that hard.”
“For you! It’s hard for me!”
“Then forget it. I’ll tell Reggie I can’t come. I’ll stay and help you.”
Charlie shook his head adamantly and began pushing her towards the path to Hogsmeade. “Absolutely not. You go and have fun. I’m going to the library to bury my nose in some books. Besides, you’ve already tried explaining it, so maybe reading about it will help. If you finish early, I’ll be there, so you can come find me. If not, we’ll meet at dinner.”
“Okay, okay. I’ll see you later!”

Music Safari NYC, continued . . .
[Covers the week of January 1, 2, 4, 5, 6 & 7.]
On January 1, Neal and I got the best seats in the house for The Anderson Brothers' presentation of a few of Irving Berlin's greatest hits.
That's Molly Ryan, Will Anderson and Peter Anderson. (Or maybe it's Molly, Peter and Will.) It wasn't too late to sing "White Christmas."
On Tuesday (Jan 2), it was Mona's.
The house band was Jared Engel, Jon Thomas, Josh Dunn (back of head), Aurora, and Tomas Majcherski (not shown above, see below).
A bunch of great musicians showed up for the second set.
That's Jared Engel in the foreground, with Matt Munisteri, Aidan Grant (bartender extraordinaire), David Ostwald (if you squint), unknown and unknown looking on.
Rafael Halvorson-Castillo and Neal Siegal were in for the night.
Jan 3 was a night off . . .
On Thursday, January 4, Paula and I had great seats at Dizzy's for the Mathis Picard Sound Orchestra.
It was big, big sound - definitely one of the major highlights of this music safari.
Mathis was joyful. He's been working hard on this, and it showed.
At his last Dizzy's gig, Mathis got married in the middle of the set, right on stage!
After Mathis, I booked it down to the Village Vanguard to hear the Chris Potter trio.
He's a great player, but I must confess that the jazz he played was too abstract for my taste.
On Friday, January 5, Neal and I headed over to Barbés to catch VickiKristinaBarcelona.
VKB is a project by Mamie Minch, Rachelle Garniez and Amanda Homi that reimagines the songs of Tom Waits. I don't know as much as I should about Tom Waits, given how important he seems to be to musicians I admire, but I'm guessing the emphasis is on, "reimagine."
In a set full of surprises, the most surprising performance of the evening involved Rachelle ringing tuned ceramic hand bells - precisely and skillfully - to play a melody.
On Saturday, January 6, it was raining and the 1-2-3 subway was not running due to a derailment, so I opted to stay closer to home.
Neal and I caught yet another set of "Miss Maybell and the Jazz Age Artistes," at the Motto Hotel (by Hilton) on 24th street. That's Charlie Judkins on the keys, Brian Nalepka on bass and Miss Maybell strummin on the old banjo.
Margaret Batiuchok was dancing up a storm to Miss Maybell. She got this young dancer going . . . very charming!
On Sunday, January 7, the usual crowd was at The Ear - and the more regular players in the Ear-Regulars. Maestro Kellso on trumpet, the beard of reeds-player Scott Robinson, Matt Munisteri on guitar extrordinaire, and Pat O'Leary on bass (see below).

Ohh I just realized, Connor should totally be the only one of the kids who's actually biologically related to Frank, which works perfectly with him being the Charlie of the group!
Yes! Oh God, and instead of Bruce Mathis, the trio's real father is, in fact, Logan.

The Mosley Review: The Super Mario Bros. Movie
There is a reason why video game developers don't license out their product or games to film studios. If the early 90's taught us anything, they haven't gotten it right at all. Back in 1993, the most guiltiest pleasure of a film was released and it caused Nintendo to never trust the film industry to adapt their legendary catalog to screen. Super Mario Bros. was absolutely an abomination of a film that didn't even try to get the world or design of the beloved game correct. What my generation got was a comedic and yet dark dystopian creature feature that even the cast hated making. I still enjoy the ridiculous and fun charm despite its massive sins committed against the property. It sparked my crush for Samantha Mathis so that was always a plus. Nintendo has taken the chance again and trusted another film studio to try and respect the source material, but did it work? Absolutely! From the opening credits to the final shot of the film, this was 100 percent a Super Mario Bros. game come to life in everyway possible. The choice to do it animated was the only way to get it right and the filmmakers nailed it. From the vast amount of classic references, Easter eggs, recreations of the original game levels of Donkey Kong and Mario Kart, I was in heaven. The universe of Mario Bros. was on complete display and handled with such respect. There are some updated story elements that alter the original stories of the games, but it didn't actually matter in this instance because the amount of fun I was having with the breakneck pace of the film. I had my reservation about certain casting choices and I was pleasantly surprised by how well the cast pulled it off.
Chris Pratt takes the lead as Mario and I had my thoughts on the choice of a big name actor to play him. I wanted the voice actor that has voiced the character for 100 games and I was afraid that all I was gonna hear was Pratt. Well Chris absolutely blew my expectations out of the water and nailed the characters heart and optimistic spirit. Charlie Day was fantastic as his skiddish, faithful and sometimes hilariously tortured brother Liuigi. He seriously gets put through the ringer in this film and I sometimes felt sorry for him as he is sidelined for the majority of the film. His chemistry with Mario was truly a highlight when they were together and they had an amazing action scene together toward last portion of the film. The bathroom sequence was awesome as well with the dog. The original voice of Mario, Charles Martinet, is in the film and I loved that he played the father of both Mario and Luigi. It was a wonderful touch for him to be the one that propels their story to earn the respect of their father. Anya Taylor-Joy was excellent as Princess Peach and I liked that they updated her character. Historically, she was the damsel in distress that Mario would always have to save and now she is more of a stronger person. It wasn't a politically overbearing choice that somehow made her the hero of the film. She was a great ally to Mario and you grow to love her by the end. Keegan-Michael Key was outstanding as Toad and nearly stole the film with all of the cute and heroic moments. He wasn't a bumbling character that was just there to sell toys and I loved that he was very creative and brave. Seth Rogen blew me away with his performance as Donkey Kong. He was as funny, arrogant and tough as Kong should be. He was so much fun to watch and the rivalry between him and Mario was so reminiscent of their original arcade game debut. Jack Black is always a delight and as King Bowser, he was hilarious and unexpectedly menacing in so many great ways. He is a villain with a big heart, but he will burn all that cross him. I loved his many musical numbers and a particular scene with a piano where he plays a well placed theme we all know to add tension. Kevin Michael Richardson was awesome as the sorcerer and right hand of Bowser, Kamek. Kevin has always been one of my favorite voice actors and I always enjoy hearing his talented and distinct voice in anything. He was awesome and great in his scenes with Bowser. Khary Payton was great as the Penguin King and even though his major scene was in the trailer, he still had more fun moments in the film to witness. Juliet Jelenic was adorable and hilariously dark humored as Lumalee. Every line that kid spoke was comedy gold and I loved every second of it.
The score was brilliant and recreated all the iconic music of the franchise in epic and creative forms. Brian Tyler truly created a masterpiece of a score that had me smiling from the ear to ear as the themes that Koji Kondo created came back to life in the right moments at the right time. The underground tube theme from the first game was used perfectly to build tension in one specific moment. Even though the film has a attention span of 2 year old, the story still held even if it was a bit basic. I wasn't looking for something Oscar worthy, but what we got was serviceable and you've seen it done before. Other than that, there's really nothing bad I can say about this delightful and fun family film that will be enjoyed by adults as well. If you're a hardcore fan of the Mario universe, then you will have your mind blown. For the casuals like me that grew up with it but never continued with the franchise after Mario 64, I still found myself having so much fun and smiling at all the recreations of classic levels and references to other Nintendo classics. Do stick around to the end of the film for an end credit that'll make you smile even harder. Let me know what you thought of the film or my review in the comments below. Thanks for reading!

Charlie Overbey – In Good Company
Charlie Overbey has a new album, In Good Company, which is a roots rock bluesy extravaganza that places Charlie in very good company. Each song features a heavy hitting electric guitar playing guest: among them, Marcus King, Nils Lofgren, Chris Masterson, and Duane Betts.
“Punk Rock Spy,” featuring Stuart Mathis, has heavy hitting rock harmonica a la Thomas Blues…

Sunny Tarot #1
(as in this is the first one, not in a smitty werbenjagermanjensen he was #1 way)
Some background, I started doing this a little while ago so there's a backlog, but not that much only like four. This ones a bit truncated but the later ones start getting longer
Episode: S4E2 The Gang Solves the Gas Crisis
(flowers) For: Charlie
Spread: Stay or Go
I think this spread is supposed to be for people asking about staying or leaving their relationships, but I'm gonna interpret it as "should Charlie stay in his role assigned to him by the group or do his own thing?"
Deck I'm using: Occult Tarot
This deck is basically the Rider Waite deck with some cool demons on them. No reversals with this one
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
1. Current state: The Tower
Sudden upheaval, broken pride, disaster
2. Why stay?: 6 of Wands
Victory, success, public reward
3. Why go?: 8 of Wands
Rapid action, movement, quick decisions
4. How I'll feel staying: 4 of Swords
Rest, restoration, contemplation
5. How I'll feel leaving: Ace of Swords
Breakthrough, clarity, sharp mind
6. Overall advice: Page of Swords
Curiosity, restlessness, mental energy
*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*
(words that appear within the reading are bolded in the analysis)
The wildcard role is represented by The Tower card, and Charlie is the definition of sudden upheaval and destruction this episode. Despite being on board with the plan and having no nefarious motives, he foils every stage of the already flimsy scheme. He doesn't help intimidate the gas station attendant, he assures the bank teller will never get into any of their pants by stepping on Dennis's role as the "looks," scared the rich old lady when selling door to door, and in a final act of chaos, cut the van's breaks and jumped out. He lived up to the wildcard role by being completely unpredictable even by the gang's standards.
Staying within the role system, or rather properly fulfilling his role in the gang's eyes specifically (because by all standards he really did fulfill the wildcard role), would have maybe appeased Mac and Dennis, and perhaps even advance the plan (granting him the success and public reward indicated by the 6 of Wands) but his only involvement would be appearing as a menacing presence, essentially from Charlie's point of view, "doing" nothing. A rest, but not a wanted one.
Leaving, on the other hand, gives a sense of clear-mindedness (if only in a "brain empty" way) that favors rapid action and decision making and is conducive to creating chaos. It makes sense to Charlie, historically the most confused member of the trio ("he's listening he's not understanding"), because haphazardly following your intuition requires no forethought, and there's no need to grasp the bigger picture of someone else's plan when you're working for yourself. At the end of the day, Charlie goes with the option that gives him the most freedom, satisfies his curiosity, and is ultimately something he knows how to do well: his chaos climaxing as he jumps out of a moving van that ends up hurting everyone else.
That's a lot of what the Swords are about (which appeared 3 times), including the harming others part. He is noticeably missing from the "Bruce Mathis" identity reveal at the end. Was leaving best for him? Depends on how hurt he got jumping out, but he clearly had a lot more fun following his bizarre intuition. The two Wand cards and the Tower (which is associated with Mars, another fire card) point to the aspects of desire and passion as the main driving forces of his decision making, as opposed to the (relative) logic behind the gang's plan that's lost on Charlie.
biography.
dennis reynolds was born along side his twin sister dee to barbara and frank reynolds. his parents were quite wealthy, living on the outskirts of Philadelphia, Pennsylvania. Frank was a businessman of sorts, most often doing shady business deals and creating shell corporations. barbara stayed at home most days with the twins, but often found herself too distracted by alcohol or various pills. the twins were raised mainly by nannies and maids.
during elementary school dennis went to an all boys school. he kept to himself most of the time and was actually a very shy kid. he started to break out his shell more in middle school, which he attended with his sister dee. after middle school dennis and dee went to high school at saint joe's, a catholic school. dennis and dee didn't spend much time together in high school, mostly sticking to separate social circles. in high school dennis meets ronald "mac" macdonald and charlie kelly. he quickly becomes friends with them, mostly so he can buy weed off of them.
after high school dennis and dee went to the university of Pennsylvania. Dennis went to school for psychology. after graduation, dennis and dee moved back in with their parents. dennis began to do some business work for frank, but he spent most of his time hanging out with mac and charlie at the roller rink they worked at. they were informed that the rink was up for sale, so mac, dennis, and charlie pooled their money together to purchase the rink. however, they soon found out that it was actually a bar that was up for sale. the three ended up purchasing paddy's irish pub and took up working there. currently, dennis is still a co-owner of paddy's irish pub, mac being the other owner. charlie sold his shares years ago but still works as a janitor. dennis works at the pub as a bartender on occasion alongside dee.
verses.
one - dennis is 48 and currently works at paddy's irish pub, a bar that he owns with his twin sister dee, and his two friends charlie kelly and mac macdonald. he currently shares a two bedroom apartment with mac.
two - dennis is 22 works for his father, frank, helping him with various business dealings. he recently graduated from the university of pennsylvania. most of his time is spent with his father, or hanging out at the roller rink that his friends charlie and mac work at.
three - dennis is 25 and has recently purchased paddy's pub with his friends mac and charlie. the group is still working on figuring out how to run a business, but they're hopeful for success.
four - dennis can be any age in this verse, follows the canon of the show but dennis has been quietly operating as a serial killer. dennis still owns and works at paddy's pub, but he's got a secret, he's a serial killer. he is still friends with the gang, quietly trying to balance his double life.
five - this is set during season 13. instead of coming back to philadelphia, dennis decides to stay in north dakota with mandy to care for his son brian. he rents his own two bedroom apartment, and has started to fix his life so he can properly care for his son. he has started therapy and medication, and has gone back to school to become a veterinarian. during the evenings he works at an upscale cocktail lounge as a bartender. he has a black cat named rick. dennis is 44 in this verse, and he is much softer than in canon. he's really trying to turn his life around. he is still in touch/friends with the gang.
six - set in season one, episode one. mac is very happy the gay bar has ended, and dennis actually wished that it would have kept going. he was thinking about how happy he was being 'out' while he was bar tending at the "gay" bar, even if dennis was pretending that it was an act anyway. dennis finds out about mac getting him black out drunk on purpose and blows up at mac, gets really angry, ends up coming out because of anger and storms off. they run away to the jersey shore and end up getting a job as a bartender at a gay club. that's where they discover drag, and they invent the persona victoria von hemen and start performing drag at the bar. dennis is thirty in this verse.
