Eyes of Kali ॐ Talon Abraxas
Under the third eye of Kali, the signs of both sun, moon, and fire are visible which represent the driving forces of nature. Kali is not always thought of as a Dark Goddess. Despite Kali's origins in battle, She evolved to a full-fledged symbol of Mother Nature in Her creative, nurturing and devouring aspects.
Durga Ma & Shakti's Third Eye
DURGA is the three eyed Ambika or Parvathi who takes the form of Ma Kali. Mother Durga is a Shakti manifestation representing the infinite power of the universe and symbol of feminine dynamism and potency of Siva.
The manifestation of Durga is said to emerge from Her formless essence and she is inseparable from the Source. She is worshiped for her gracious as well as terrifying aspects. Durga’s story appears primarily in the Skanda Purana which is part of the Markandeya Purana. Durga is said to have projected Kali out of her third eye.
When Goddess Durga is depicted having three eyes, she is referred to as Triyambake. These are similar to that of Lord Siva and symbolise knowledge that consumes ignorance. Symbolically Her left eye represent desire – the moon; the right action – the sun and the third eye represents knowledge or Fire.
Devi Mahatmyam, Sri Durga Saptasati – Chandi. Opening Sloka: 7:
Sarva Mangala Mangalye, Shive Sarvartha Sadhike, Sharanye Tryambake Gauri Narayani Namostute, Narayani Namostute, Narayani Namostute:
Meaning:
Oh Gauri Maa! Consort of Lord Shiva, You who bestows auspiciousness in all, And fulfill everyone's wishes, I prostrate myself before Thee, I salute you or take me under your care.
In Puranic literature, Goddess Parvathi is worshipped as Shakti. She is described as having many forms, including Durga, Chandi, Kali and Uma. While Siva symbolizes the efficient cause of the creation, Shakti symbolizes the material cause. Jai Maa Durga
SHAKTI’S THIRD EYE
Coconuts are a favourite offering to Hindu Gods and Goddesses as it has three ‘eyes’ and symbolises the breaking of ego. Exposing the purity of white copra is just that. The third eye refers to one’s inner vision.
It is the gate of the inner realms of higher consciousness. Thus it metaphorically symbolises non-dualistic thinking. In Shiva Tattva it is the eye of higher perception. It is not physically present but everyone ‘has’ a third eye. Jnani’s and enlightened persons realise its presence.
According to the Puranas, the third eye symbolises wisdom and knowledge. Siva’s burning of Kama Deva by his third eye is symbolic of destroying desire and lust.
As ‘Tryambaka’ Lord Siva is the ‘the three eyes’ God. While this has vedic origins and mentioned in the Upanishads, the Mahabaratha states ‘ambaka’ denotes ‘the eye’ of Ambika meaning mother’s eye.
Goddesses Parvathi, Saraswathi and Lakshmi, the consorts of Brahma, Vishnu and Siva are also collectively called Ambika. In the Baratha story, there is the saguna character of Ambika being the daughter of the King of Kashi. Her swamvara is interrupted by Bhisma who takes Ambika and her sisters Amba and Ambaliks. Om Shakti

Joranda Mela - Odisha The seven-day Joranda Mela is observed to mark the day of salvation of Saint Mahima Gosain. it's celebrated on a full-of-the-moon day within the month of January or February. The fair is organised by Mahanitya Sadhubhakta Mandali, Satya Mahima Dharma Dhama Parichalana Samiti and therefore the Dhenkanal administration. The priests at Joranda steel oneself against over a month for this fair, which aims at spreading the message of affection and humanity. Magha Chaturdasi, Guru Purnima and Baba Purnima are going to be celebrated within the 3-day long mela. Praying for universal peace and prosperity, ‘Dipa Prajwalana’ (Lighting of diya) is administered in these three days. Thousands of devotees gathered for ‘Mundan’ (Tonsuring of head) for fulfilment of their wishes and desires. Mahima Gosain’s Vision Mahima Gosain, who was a lover of Bhima Bhoi, had dreamt of a society that's free from exploitation of the poor and therefore the weaker section. The cult emerged from Jaka village in Dhenkanal district in 1874 in protest against idolatry, casteism and untouchability. While promoting a classless society, the followers offered prayers to ‘Sunya Bramha’ or the shapeless god and recited ‘Mahima Allekh’. In 1975, the saint selected Joranda as his main abode and began Mahima Mela by igniting the ‘Akhanda Dhuni’ on Magha Purnima (full moon day) for the welfare of individuals and since then the hearth has been burning continuously. The devotees pour tonnes of pure ghee on the sacred fire chanting ‘Brahma Alekh’ or ‘Mahima Alekh’. Legend has it that the saint was first seen in Puri and was referred to as Dhulia Baba. Later, he was found in deep meditation standing on one leg at Khandagiri for several years. The Mahima monks lead a lifetime of celibacy and piety. Famous because the religious headquarters of Mahima Dharma, Joranda houses the samadhi of Mahima Gosain, the preacher and propounder of the Mahima Cult. the opposite sacred tamples are the Sunya Mandira, Dhuni Mandira and Gadi Mandira. Pilgrims in large numbers pour into the Joranda fair for celebrations. This fair is persisted the complete moon day of Magha, which falls in January, February per annum . The Joranda Mela is additionally known Prabhu Purnima Utsav and falls on Magha Chaturdashi or Magha Purnima, the complete moon day of the Hindu calendar month of Magha. • Location of this festival: Joranda (Sadhu Monastry) is -25 km from Dhenkanal and 100 km from Bhubaneswar.
Om Shakti --Yogi Ananda Saraswathi

Kedu is that the most vital festival of the Kondhs of Phulbani, where they're largely concentrated. they're also found in certain areas of the districts of Ganjam and Koraput. The festival is held in several villages in several years. The place and date of the festival are decided years ahead. This festival was well-known for the human sacrifice ‘Meria’ which was totally stopped during British rule out India. However, to protect the religious sentiments of the tribals this has been substituted now by buffalo-sacrifice. This festival continues for five days and different rituals are prescribed every day. The sacrifices are made on the third and therefore the fourth days during the cruelest manner. The animal is tethered within the place of worship. Men and ladies get drunk, dance in the frantic mood then kill the animal by cutting its limbs piece by piece. Then they carry the blood and a bit of meat and bury it within the field where they produce turmeric. They believe that this is able to yield them an honest crop of turmeric as red because of the blood of the animal. Through this festival, they propitiate Mother Earth. At the endeavor of the local people, teachers, and officialdom, dramas were shown at the recreation center of the District headquarters. The Kalamandap is employed for such entertainment programmes. The Sakhi Dance of Ganjam was also practiced here for a few time. At Balimela, under the sponsorship of Gopabandhu Cultural Centre and Tamasa Art Centre, cultural programs also are held. Tribal folk songs also are relayed by Jeypore Akashbani Centre. within the observance of of these songs and dance, there also are certain taboos that these tribes prevent from, like those associated with incest and adultery. But still, sometimes, there's relaxation of rules, like that forbidding men and ladies of an equivalent village to bop together. Dancing is one activity about which all men and ladies are passionately keen on. During festivals, dancing parties begin at nightfall, last whole night, and continue even through the subsequent day. Each tribe has its own particular dance and practice different sort of music for various seasons and occasions. The Koyas have a stimulating dance, during which the lads tie buffalo or bison horns on their heads and have interaction in mimic fights; their women also dancing prettily during a ring with their hands on each other’s shoulders. The Parojas dance and therefore the dances of the Gadabas are simpler but no les spirited. Many entertainment and cultural programmes were organized by the officials working in the Dandakaranya Project. Public Relation Officers of Dandakaranya Project also arranged film shows in villages.
