My brother gave me this bottle a couple weeks back and at the time I was thinking 'how cheap and simple, what a boring label', but I remembered the look on my brother's face, which was of high regard and respect,as if he had given me a high quality secret. This 10.5 % ABV Imperial Stout from Founders Brewing Co, bottled almost 1.5 years ago (10 Dec 2015) was so nice and so smooth, so delicious, so lovely - just what my brother thought of the Black Albert i gave him... worthy gifts! The label to this Blind Pig from Russian River Brewing Co said to not let it age, so against my usual norms, I drank this lovely pine tropical fruity citrus nicely malted bitter beer this evening just 9 hours after purchasing it directly from the brewery (bottled on 19 July 2017, just 4 days ago). Then came Pliny the Elder, another lovely... though this evening I preferred the Blind Pig... For the Jazz on the Plazz in Los Gatos, I wanted an IPA that wasn't overly exaggerated, so I based my selection (BevMo) on the most interesting label with the cheapest price, and I have to say I wasn't disappointed by this The KrHOPen IPA from Evans Brewing Co (Irvine, CA). The fresh citrus piney tropical aromas were nicely balanced and not over the top, while the oily ending was only mildly bitter (I guess I could have used a little more bitterness ...though many overly priced WC IPA's aren't truly bitter).
