🐾 It’s interesting that Disney almost got the Beatles to voice the vultures in “The Jungle Book”. One of my favorite sequences in “Jungle Book”, is Mowgli’s encounter with the vultures. The whole “what we gonna do” “I don’t know, what’cha wanna do” bit became one our family’s signature gags we like to do with each other on almost every road trip. 🌴

Happy 57th Anniversary, The Jungle Book

Happy 57th Anniversary to

Disney's The Jungle Book, the cartoon version!

It had been 57 years since we since the adventures of Mowgli in this Disney classic before he had to leave his jungle home to go to the Man Village.

There he made so many friends such as

Bagheera the Panther and Baloo the Bear who taught him about the Bare Necessities,

Colonel Hathi and the Dawn Patrol, the Vultures; Buzzy, Dizzy, Flaps and Ziggy, but also a few enemies like

Kaa the hypnotic Snake,

King Louie who wanted the "power of Man's Red Flower",

and Shere Khan the Tiger who wants to kill the boy.

Let's not forget this film is where Mowgli met Shanti, the Girl who brought Mowgli into the Man Village in the first place.

Looking back at this film, I became infatuated with her since The Jungle Book 2.

Los buitres y Los Beatles

En la adaptación de Disney de El libro de la selva, los 4 buitres que ayudan a Mowgli, originalmente iban a ser interpretados por los integrantes de The Beatles, de ahí que sus peinados y apariencia fueran similares. Paul McCartney sería Flap, John Lennon iba a ser Ziggy, Ringo Star interpretaría a Buzzy y George Harrison era Dizzy. Sin embargo, John Lennon le mencionó a Disney que no quería una caricatura más sobre él, por lo que mejor contrataran a Elvis Presley. Como los personajes ya estaban boceteados y creados, se dejaron como un homenaje en referencia a esta icónica banda.

The other day I learned that while Disney never got the Beatles to voice the vulture quartet (Buzzie, Flaps, Ziggy, and Dizzy) in "The Jungle Book", they did manage to get one other legendary British musician to voice the new fifth vulture (Lucky) in "The Jungle Book 2", and it is none other than Phil Collins, who provided music for two other Disney films before this ("Tarzan" and "Brother Bear").

Flaps: What does claustrophobic mean?

Ziggy: It means he's afraid of Santa Claus.

Buzzie: No it doesn't!

Flaps: HO HO HO!

Ziggy: Stop it, Flaps! You're scaring him!

Buzzie: FLAPS! I told you I'm claustrophobic!

Flaps: Nice try, Buzz, but there's no Santa Claus here!

OCs for Hyena’s cool fandorm @juhnglfangdorm ehe idk if i can summon enough brain juice to make full bios for all five and flesh them out properly but we’ll see!!

Note: the picrew isn’t a 100% accurate rep of how they look bc. vulture features to varying degrees, so while they p much all have wings and whatnot, some of them are more harpy-esque in appearance while others are more humanoid with wings

A chaotic, self-proclaimed “idol group” consisting of 5 Juhnglfang members: Arav, Yuvan, Chetan, Kunaal and Shreya. There was another 5th member prior to Shreya’s entry into the group, but this member’s identity is unknown.

Arav (Buzzie) (3rd)

The reliable leader who, despite his love for excitement, will reign in the other 4 when necessary. He’s very sweet and kind, if a little gullible at times, but he’s not above being rebellious for the sake of it.

Yuvan (Ziggy) (2nd)

Chaotic gremlin #1, Yuvan is childish and hot-headed, though incredibly sociable and friendly. They’re honest, or rather they are unable to lie, and do not hesitate to give criticism if they think it helps.

Chetan (Flaps) (2nd)

While seeming to be a background character at first, Chetan hides his mischief better than some of his fellow vultures. He often subtly teases the other dorm members, but is otherwise just happy to help.

Kunaal (Dizzy) (2nd)

Easygoing and incredibly laidback, Kunaal likes to spoil the other dorm members, especially the vulture boys, and loves to be spoiled in return. He goes at his own pace, and she’s very much an enabler of the Vulture 5’s chaotic antics.

Shreya (Lucky) (1st)

The centre and baby of the group, having freshly joined when he started NRC. While he’s sometimes too carefree and neglects consequences, he doesn’t mean harm, and is just generally trying to have a good time.
