I listened to the JJK S2 dub today while cleaning my apartment. I heard Toji speak at the end of Ep 1 and turned to my tablet in shock.

You don't often see the word "flabbergasted" in real life, just books and stuff but I am, in real life, flabbergasted. His voice sounds 20 years too young and has the depth of a 120-pound teenage boy who chokes and coughs when he tries to smoke cigarettes.

This voice cuts away SO much of his intimidation and strength. I cannot get behind this. And I'm ordinarily a VERY dub friendly person! I got a word document filled with timestamps of good voice reads from the Haikyuu dub that I always wanted to stitch together and make a video compilation of. Bc people who watch the dub and go "it's so funny i'm shitting" make me want to shoot bird shit directly into their mouth. But I don't know how to video edit. So.

SOOO I'm wondering how this happened. I know it's the Junpei va. It's hard to believe he did the best audition for the job. Were the only other actors who tried out ones who the voice director had beef with or something? Or they demanded a salary that wasn't dogshit?
