I looked at these more closely and it appears from the photos as though Jimin is checking to see if Jungkook is comfortable with his arm around him. Jimin’s fingertips are lightly resting on Jungkook’s back. The eye contact ., 💜Almost a question.,,
As this is before the Busan Expo concert, perhaps Jungkook is nervous knowing the death threats Jimin and his family received?
I noticed Jimin’s hand is placed more firmly on Jungkook’s back after this exchange. And their struggle to hide their mega-watt, ear-to-ear smiles that appear whenever they are arm in arm together is beyond adorable.
This. This is what sets Jikook apart from “ships” or “Fan service” to this day. It’s the continued gentleness and care they show for one another.
I found this night quite interesting, actually. JK seemed a bit... off to me. Note that I said JK not Jikook. Jikook were great. I mean look at this one whole minute we got of them playing a game I didn't understand but I loved it sm!!!
What i mean is JK himself seemed off to me. He reminded me of BV4 JK and how subdued he was (for good reason, of course) And Jimin hovered alot during BV4 just like he did during this FACT Awards. Did y'all see that satellite Jimin moment where he literally went from one side of the stage, almost made an entire 360 just to go stand next to JK?
That was a long way. Never seen Jimin satellite that far before.
Also this moment seemed to extra annoy JK more than usual. (Zoom in on his face to see his reaction better) Right before he 'separated them' and got in immediately after Jimin 😂😂 He's always cutting off Jhope remember the white house?
I love this man.
Anyway, its not one moment that I can pinpoint that made me feel this way. It was JK's general demeanour and the fact that Jimin was treating him like an egg. So to speak 😂😂 Cue the photos by westcoastgal where Jimin is being so gentle with his baby.
I wonder if something was happening behind the scenes... Anyway, as usual come to your own conclusions.
Bonus: compilation from that night.

DAY6's Sungjin will throw the first pitch at Sajik Baseball Stadium on June 2nd as "Lotte Giants fan"
by Hwang Hyejin
Sungjin, the leader of the band DAY6, will pitch. According to the Lotte Giants on May 24, Sungjin will participate as a pitchman in the Lotte Giants home game at Sajik Baseball Stadium on June 2. "We're holding a 'Youth Series' to support the youth for the two consecutive home games to be held at Sajik Baseball Stadium from June 1 to June 2. A special pitching event has also been set up to mark this series," Lotte Giants said. "Sungjin, a member of DAY6 known as a Lotte Giants fan, will pitch on June 2." Tickets for the Youth Series will start on Lotte Giants' official website or app on July 24. Pre-orders are available from 10 a.m. and general bookings from 2 p.m. Sungjin from Busan previously appeared on ENA & Channel's fifteen-ya "Real Fan Zone," which aired on the 20th, and said he was a fan of the Lotte Giants team. Meanwhile, DAY6, which includes Sungjin, recently achieved the feat of entering the top 10 by simultaneously climbing the music charts with "You Were Beautiful" (released in 2017) and "Time of Our Life" (released in 2019) at the same time. With their new album "Fourever," which was released in March, all songs successfully topped the charts, and emerged as the No. 1 band to be invited to university festivals. Starting with Chonbuk National University on May 9 and going on to Seokyeong University, Konkuk University, Kyunghee University, Hanyang University, and Jeju University, they wrote down an unforgettable page of their youth with university students. They also have plans to appear at Dongguk University on May 29 and Sungkyunkwan University on May 30. They will also make their first appearance as the festival's headliner after their debut. DAY6 will perform at the 16th Seoul Jazz Festival on May 31 at KSPO DOME in Songpa-gu, Seoul. On June 13, they have plans to appear in an outdoor performance of the festival project of MBC's entertainment program 'Hangout with Yoo' held at a location not yet known. The company has also confirmed that it will hold its third official fan meeting "I Need My Day" at Jamsil Gymnasium in southern Seoul for three days from June 21 to 23. DAY6 previously sold out their recent solo concert, which was held for three days from April 12 to 14 in a 360-degree opening of seats at Jamsil Gymnasium in southern Seoul, attracting a total of 34,000 spectators.

BTS’s Jimin Shines as the Unrivaled Dance Prodigy, Garnering Attention as the ‘K-Pop Representative Performer’
Recently, a Hallyu media outlet praised Jimin, a member of BTS, stating that he is known for delivering impressive performances on stage and that his powerful dance skills always give joy to viewers. They also highlighted his ability to create various atmospheres while dancing and released a list of ‘Jimin’s 5 Best Dance Styles,’ as chosen by netizens.
First and foremost, Jimin’s ‘powerful choreography’ was brought to attention, particularly his robust and precise dance skills seen in songs like ‘Fire’ and ‘Idol.’ His performance of ‘Run BTS,’ which garnered attention when unveiled at last year’s Busan concert, and his solo track ‘Set Me Free pt.2’ were also mentioned in this category.
Next, they highlighted Jimin’s ability to convey a ‘lively and slightly lighter atmosphere’ with his dances, which is evident in songs like ‘Dynamite,’ ‘Permission To Dance,’ and ‘Boy with Luv.’ His dances in these songs are characterized by their soft yet vibrant movements.
The third category showcased Jimin’s ‘sophisticated and elegant contemporary dance,’ especially the performance of ‘Black Swan’ and his year-end stage. Jimin’s contemporary dance style, influenced by his enrollment in the dance program at Busan High School, is distinct and exceptional enough to receive praise from dance experts.
The fourth category demonstrated Jimin’s ‘dynamic control’ in his dance moves. Examples included his puppet-like movements in ‘Fake Love,’ where he appears to collapse like a marionette, and his body control showcased in the performance of ‘Mic Drop,’ where he seems to be hit and thrown backward as if shot. His exceptional body control was also evident in his solo track ‘Like Crazy.’
Lastly, they introduced Jimin’s dances that encompass ‘flexibility and core strength,’ highlighting the high-level difficulty of moves like the 360-degree rotation in ‘Serendipity’ and his impressive wave skills displayed in ‘Intro: Boy Meets Evil’ and ‘Set Me Free pt.2.’
Jimin has carved out his unique dance genre through various dance styles, and he is widely praised for elevating K-pop dance to the realm of art. He is defined as the ‘Dance God’ and ‘Dance King’ on the Urban Dictionary, and he is considered one of the leading dancers representing K-pop, with numerous victories in dance-related polls, having been crowned 17 times as the champion.

On Ballet, PJM's thighs 🤭, Gender Norms, Society, and Parenting Teens...when insomnia plays you like a plague.
Four in the morning and I'm in my walrus form...rolling on the bed like it'll help shut down my brain, until this walrus decided to give up and get up. Welcome to today's insomnia episode feat. me and my attempt to write/blog again.
It's on nights, rather early dawns, like these where my mind ponders on the mundane things in life...like where the hell is Min Yoongi?...Lol! Is slime liquid? Is water wet? Silly questions until the most precious nerds in my life go on a full scientific debate on these (true story). Today was me scouting frames online for my kids' ballet recital pics. I was being a cheesy mom admiring with googly eyes, my children's photos until I was "mom mode no more" when the quads my not so little boy's ballet tights were showcasing caught my attention...and I went *😳* my boy's really starting to morph into pre-debut PJM (Jimin's thighs for President! woot! woot!😂)
It's been over a year since my children decided to "formally" learn ballet. My eldest would be considered late to the game at 16 as most ballerinas start tippy toeing garbed in pink tutus as early as three; she though, has always had an eye for the arts. As a little girl I remember her craning her neck to the other toddlers who were attending the ballet classes held on the second level of the local grocery we used to frequent in QC. She never really says anything, she just watches and stares at the cute girls her age in tutus with her big bright eyes; meanwhile the dense, sleep deprived, mother *c'est moi* never paid it much thought, my last braincells running on the remaining 10 mg of caffeine and whatever nicotine poison was still lingering in my bloodstream. A walking zombie on auto pilot trying to get my errands done so I can hit the sack, wake up to the moon and live life as part of the vampires toiling the night shifts. This was 2010.
Fast forward to the pandemic era when we all got sucked into the purple rabbit hole *another story for another day* and count 2 more years of my whole fam being fans of a particular kid from Busan, SoKor who studied Modern Dance in an Arts School (before an Army gets the wrong idea, we're OT7, just putting that out) and you see me enrolling my children in their first ballet class.
I will spare you the details of how this debacle gave rise to the Kraken that, unbeknownst to la maman, actually lives inside my sweet, darling girl (segway...you know those moments when you look at your child and say, I can't see any of me in her *of which you're mighty glad* then BOOM! Yep there it is, that's definitely me right there. I had that scene play in front of me in 4HD...end of segway). Now despite being a bit relieved in discovering that she actually had this side - when the need calls for it - I knew the crowd that triggered it wasn't healthy for them anymore. I pulled them out of that place in a snap. It was just a summer thing after all, it was just me letting them dip their toes into ballet because we were PJM stans, it was ever really just that - haha! NOT! As I witnessed my daughter's demeanor turn a full 360° because some kids thought it was a good idea to mess with her brother...to which of course they were wrong. I thought that exiting them out of that cesspool was the "parent thing to do'' and that-that experience eventually pulled the lights out on their, "what I initially assumed only as", fangirling/boying fascination for ballet, but like those silly kids who ate the bars that were spat out my daughter's angry mouth for afternoon tea- of course I TOO WAS WRONG.
My then 12yr old son was crying his eyes out, feelings of disgust, betrayal, self-doubt, anger, self-doubt again doused him like an August monsoon, bouts of nausea and a slight fever followed thereafter. It was a sight any mother would demand someone's head for *ofc I'm being exaggeratedly dramatic but you get my point*. I could have *metaphorically* dragged someone by the hair for it, I knew I was entitled to that -we had receipts. But as much as I love my boy, he is THAT- a BOY, biologically assigned male at birth who'll soon turn into a MAN. He needed to learn from this, know how to profile people. Learn the consequences of being naive and gullible, understand the inevitable outcome of what you're getting yourself into. The little vixen was no Taylor Swift and my son is absolutefanfucktabously NOT her John Mayer. Society, however, in this province that is, wouldn't, even at this present day & age, agree with me. Petite, pretty, doe-eyed, damsel type girls will always bag the biggest crowd. He needed to understand this, cuddling and soothing him would be second nature to any mother, but I would like to think I knew better. So that was that or so I thought. We can go back to baking giant cookies, mocking the diabetes curse that ran in our genes, but my son wanted to write a different ending to this chapter and start a new one. So with eyes puffy and tears endlessly falling; nose so red Rudolf would've been threatened, speech garbled from sobbing and the urge to not ingest his snot *graphic ain't I?* he let out a phrase that left me momentarily stunted. "But Mommy, I really wanna dance ballet". I was silent as my incoherent son tried to get his message to my skull. I watched his beautiful face being aggressively rubbed with the collar of his shirt by his own hands. Sounds reminiscent of trumpets being blown ensued right after and I thought to myself, "whoa 😧 the laundromat ladies has got work cut out for them" before I snapped out of my momentary Ally McBeal moment and reminded myself that I'm this human's mother.
And so after a financial debrief with the chief of command in my household a.k.a my husband, the hunt was on for a new ballet school that would be willing to take in my then 16 yr old princess and my 12 yr old snot factory of a son *oh shut up, we all have different love languages mine just happens to exclude being a mopey unfunny mother*. I swept through Metaverse overnight and by 9am-ish the next day, I was on the phone with the owner of the Aims Academy School for the Performing Arts formerly known as Arts in Motion Studio *all puns related to "the artist formerly known as Prince" intended tee-hee* with my V8 of a motor mouth ranting at the speed of light. The school's headmistress being the poor soul to become recipient of my motherly verbal diarrhea. A millenia and a half on my verbal rampage on mean girls, my take on the performing arts, my hope that they could consider taking in my 2 dorks and I'm purchasing a ballet barre online... just like that, my 12 yr old son is once again the only ballet student with a third leg in this new school - grateful for this new chapter in their lives.
Has it ever bothered him that he's the only student danseur in ballet school? nah...he was raised a feminist - and by that I don't mean Beyonce and her booty shaking to "Who Run the World? Girls!" I mean, being raised to respect the differences and contribution each biologically assigned sex contributes to humanity, did I phrase that out right? I am honestly too old to delve into the complexities of pronouns and the whole LGBTQrstuv you know the rest of the alphabet. My son understands and respects that you can embrace whatever pronoun you find fits you, yet equally respects that a pea sized pie hole can pop out a human head but the Jr nestled between his quads will never be able to. He understands that we, biologically assigned women at birth, cannot play the game of how many d*cks around a coffee mug can fill it up with pee in 30 secs *no you cannot unread that bwahaha evil laugh* My son understands that colors, fragrance, one's palate has no gender assignment, munching on siling labuyo does not make one MORE male, lmao. He loves playing war games on his pc but cosplays in a Japanese maid costume without a care in the world if some people raise their brows and think that's queer. Most importantly he knows the difference between a hobby and an art form, and that art is gender fluid.
My kids were unfortunately birthed in an obnoxiously patriarchal society that associates sh*t to being male or female. Society expects my daughter to be domesticated, she is, but equally so is my son. If you can't cook, don't eat, if you don't know how to wash your undergarments then by all means itch where it hurts the most. No one dares give an opinion on my son studying to be a danseur, either they actually funnily think it's just a hobby (believe me when I say what an insanely expensive hobby it is then for a middle class household) as I've caught conversations from older male figures subtly hinting at basketball and taekwondo... or they're very much aware that trying to meddle with how I raise my kids is a pretty bad idea, knowing that I am literally able to get away with murder haha.
Let me ramble on this just once...DANCING is NOT merely a HOBBY! PERFORMING ARTS is WHAT it reads as A-R-T! Ballet is not for wimps and girly soft boys, as is with any other artform - it's a DISCIPLINE; an utterly painful one at that. If anyone then, gets the slightest misogynistic itch to poke fun at my boy in tights- try standing on relevé with a steady bras bas for 20 secs then you can talk to me about how pain makes a man a "MAN"...*blows knuckles*.
Some misguided poor souls can cheat their way into academic high honors; some screwed up parents can kiss ass and/or payV the way for their children, but believe me no amount of ass-kissing skills or deep pockets can ever fool a room full of audience into knowing what talent or the absolute lack of it looks like on stage. Not everyone is born with it, and when you see it, you don't call it a "hobby", you call that talent, skills, what you're seeing is an execution of "Art".
The insatiable and savage thirst for raising ruthless fighting cocks for merciless cockpit battles is what I can call an example of a "hobby" - a gruesomely barbaric one at that but absurdly regarded as Ultra Male — not a skill, definitely not a talent and watching two rooster try to unalive each other will never be a form of Art. I object - admiration for the showcase violence is not manly, on the contrary it defies all that nature intended the male species to be...the supposed caretaker and nurturer of all things created by the Almighty.
My children were sadly born into a society that sees ART as a hobby and the belief that one's only gateway to a stable meal ticket is through the traditional academe. Where grades define them and their peers parents' brag about them like trophies with necks clad in metal you can't even pawn for a cent; and while me and the hubs have hardcoded the importance of school and the sometimes absurd rules of society to our kids' psyche - that a good college degree is still their gate pass to a stable future, we keep them grounded and sane by reiterating that reciting Newton's Law will not help you cook an egg. Life skills are just as important. Social skills, street smarts and most of all empathy, compassion, and kindness are what make you human. No, we are not the type of absurdly idealistic, incel, "stoned hippie-like" parents that teach our children to blame the gov't for our effed up lives or blind them with the idea that politics is divided into black & white. We don't romanticize poverty and tell our children that money isn't the most important thing in the world- eros LOVE is (oh cge shutamez, kumain ka ng pagmamahal tignan ko kung mabusog ka sa kaka-bebetaym haha). NO! we actually tell them that in the hierarchy of things to help you survive, it is next to oxygen. Money can be both a blessing and a curse, you need it but don't be obsessed with it. Recognize the power it holds, respect that to a certain degree but never be a slave to it. Be wary of how people act around money. Do not classify people according to their lack and excess of it, and equally stay away from those who would do just that to you. Work Hard/Play Hard. Be kind to yourself. Pat yourself on the back for a job well done. Recognize and humble yourselves when you realize you're at fault. Learn from mistakes and learn to forgive mistakes and never wallow in them. Try to always see the good in humans. In this cruel world, it will be the only thing that keeps you from being part of a herd made up of bad sheep that despite having a shepherd and being surrounded by a fence, still always think that everyone around them are predators (the disgusting mentality na kala mo laging iisahan, dadayain at lalamangan, these are the worst people to trust as you will never have theirs). Be careful of those who believe that in order to survive, the best mantra to live by was coined by Machiavelli. School, at some point, will teach you the idea of Utopia; tell you what it looks like, explain to you the do's and don'ts and make you think you're it's future hope as long as you keep the black from bleeding into the white. When you get out in the real world though you'll realize that Utopia is a unicorn. The great Kim Namjoon once said, "Life is a soup, and I'm a fork", my personal favorite is "Life isn't Burger King, you can't always have it your way."
In a year where people are still at odds as to whether the 1969 moon landing was real, the greatest mystery and challenge is still the perfect formula in raising Gen Z teens. I have yet to figure it out as well. I've once been called to speak on the topic of successful parenting and gladly indulged my audience with what maybe perceived as food for thought; when in truth my anxiety laced brain was just as clueless to what successful parenting really is. I guess people think having well mannered and well behaved kids qualifies me to hold a podium. In reality though; while I'm definitely accountable for their upbringing, I can't take any credit for the humans my children decide to become. They are their own person/s the moment they realize they have the ability to feed themselves with their own cooking that will not have them dying from food poisoning.
And so with all these letters jumbled to become words, that become sentences and progressed into paragraphs of mundane thoughts that decided to fill insomnia nights instead of being sleep waste products called dreams; I spill my mind into writing, if you can even call this that. Whoever is reading this has been fooled into tagging along a rollercoaster mumble-jumble ride that started with my admittedly disgusting simp/thirst for Park Jimin's thighs, ballet, gender norms, society, and trying to be a passable parent to my teens...like how in the fowcking world did it jump from there to here? Insomnia indeed plays me like a plague.

We Live Artist of the Week: Dead Chant
youtube
We Live is more than just your average morning radio show taking place in the middle of the zombie apocalypse. Sure, guests call from all over the world and end their interview by getting eaten by zombies live on the air. Sure, these guests are athletes, musicians, artists, actors, journalists, and overall legends. But We Live is more than listening to hilarious interviews that always end the same way - people dying. It also is a show that plays the best indie and underground music on planet Earth.
The governments of the world have collapsed. Zombies lurch on every corner of the world. The living are encouraged to stay home and stay safe. But that doesn’t seem to happen. The world goes on, just with zombies. And since all bets are off, that means the industry conglomerates no longer own the radio waves. Thanks to the end of civilization as we know it, and the rise of undead ghouls, we all get to listen to amazing music from phenomenal artists.
We Live boasts the best underground music library from indie artists anywhere that the living still survives. Every week, we bring you music from around the globe that you would most likely never hear anywhere else. We’ll prove it. Go ahead and check out our Bandcamp page. And those are just some of our celebrated artists. We also search abandoned record stores and music studios for CDs, tapes, records, and even 8-tracks of forgotten or never “broke-through” musicians. We also search Soundcloud and Spotify for artists waiting to get noticed.
But every week, we highlight one particular artist or band that we think you’ll really enjoy regardless of your taste in music. This week, that band is DEAD CHANT.
Dead Chant is a skate punk band from Seoul, South Korea. They are on the forefront of the K-Indie scene that is taking over the nation. The punk band consists of Rumgirl on vocals, Kangboy on guitar, YBomb on guitar, and Blion on drums. They came onto the scene with their first single “Jimmy’s Punk”. They followed that single up with the single “Kill Your Boss”. You can follow Dead Chant on their Bandcamp page HERE.
The band’s song “Monologue to Her” was featured in this week’s episode of We Live titled “Strain to Busan”. Make sure you follow all of our great artists on their social media accounts and support them on Bandcamp. Listen to We Live on Spotify and enjoy every episode HERE. You can take a listen to their song on this week’s episode in the link below. Also remember that our 24/7 Deadline messaging phone number is open for voicemail or text.

❛ have you seen my cat anywhere ? i must’ve lost it. ❜ (doah&changmin)

Changmin & Doah : feat. @piperbellinger ♥️🐈
Changmin estava desolado.
— Oi! Me desculpa te incomodar, meu nome é Changmin e eu moro do outro lado do bairro.
— Garfield?? Ei, esse é o meu gato!

Day 7: Hybe Insight, Hangang Park, Itaewon
Our last full day in Seoul after we got back from Busan. It was the day where we’ll be as (possibly) close to BTS as we can be because we were visiting Hybe Insight for the Proof Exhibition, it is a special exhibition that is different from its museum, and it’s BTS’ office.
It was so dramatic to get the tickets because we can’t buy it from the official Hybe Insight website, we had to buy it from Inter-park Global, and it was at the same time as the Busan concert bid if I am not mistaken. The website crashed so hard many times and it was so complicated to login, I almost gave up. It costs 30,000KRW for the ticket, so that’s around 100+ ringgit. Diana couldn’t get through the website till like late at night, the thing was I already bought mine, can you imagine if we couldn’t book the same slot? But of course we did.
Hybe Insight was actually near to our hotel it’s only a few subway stops. It felt so exciting to just see the building, it felt even more surreal than the past few days. We were asking the Hybe crew where to redeem the tickets and only the one with an American flag badge could communicate in English while the rest was somehow quite rude? But maybe they just didn’t wanna deal with foreigners. Couldn’t really tell if they were being polite or not because they were wearing masks, but from the eyes they looked annoyed.
Literally almost everyone in line for our session at 11am were foreigners, it was so diverse! In age, in ethnicity, in genders and language. I was so amazed. It made me love being an ARMY more and love BTS more. That day we felt so on point with our outfit, Diana and I were like “omg why do we look so fucking good?”, and it felt amazing.
Since we weren’t allowed to take any pictures of videos, I will try my best to describe it here. After redeeming our tickets we were guided into a foyer space (we can still take pictures here) where we had to wait for the guided tour, we waited for quite awhile maybe around 30 minutes? The foyer space were just pictures of them from the PROOF photoshoot and there were green lasers shooting out everywhere. Then everyone was asked to get in two lines side by side as the tour started.
When we went through the tunnel we saw scribbles from the members and their quotes, and we saw mementos from their different album eras, but not all, I forgot which was it. We then walked into a space where their Proof Live performance ft. Anderson Paak was being played on a loop in a big screen with their pictures all over a wall and a carousel. It was just a lot of photos of them, some were released photos and some were exclusive ones that we’ve never seen but we know it’s from a certain photoshoot. We then walk through a tunnel where from ground to ceiling it was all BTS’s pictures, I’m sure I’m not describing the details correctly because I do not remember non key pieces. There was also a space like a digital wall where they played videos of them 360 degree, it felt immersive.
Then we get to see their outfits that they wore in the Yet To Come Music video and iconic concert outfits of theirs.
I think my favourite one would be the tunnel walls of their unreleased practice videos, but you can’t really stand there for long because they will usher you to move along which was understandable but there were a lot of videos and I couldn’t really watch all of them.
We get to see all of their albums in all era, get a random photo-card from this dispenser machine, see random memorabilia. There was also this boomerang banner of the boys playing with the bullet from their Proof photoshoot. That one was never before seen and was so cool.
When we get to the merch section, it was a bit underwhelming, to be honest the whole exhibition... felt underwhelming for us because we’ve seen what the HYBE Insight museum was like, the boys did some content on that, and apparently Namjoon shot a content of him visiting the Proof Exhibition as well but I only saw it when I came back. I had no idea what to get, I’ve never been that into merch anyway, I felt like I wanted to get something to commemorate the day but there was just nothing there that made me jump in joy to own, especially when I bought so much stuff already and was strategising in my head where to even fit everything.
After the exhibition we went to Burger Boy, it was pretty random, we wanted to get Indonesian/Malaysian food but it was kinda far so we decided to just go to a random restaurant nearby. Burger Boy was amazing by the way even though we struggled a bit to order because no English on the ordering machine. We ate at the rooftop and discussed about what we think and felt about the exhibition and we were pretty frank to admit that we were disappointed. It’s normal and healthy to feel that way about idols or people you admire, you’re not gonna like and love everything that they do and the exhibition was managed by their company, they may have a say but still it was a team that curated it and it just didn’t reach our expectations. We wished the merch selections were better, the photo folio that they announced should’ve at least been there, less of BTS collab merch and more on their actual merch that were on Weverse? We see none of that basically. The merch that the boys designed were also not there. Other than that the exhibition were just walls of pictures, and a lot of it were pictures that we’ve seen or at least we know which photoshoot this was from so we’ve seen the look.
There were no interactive activity as well compared to actual HYBE Museum. I’d wish for more interactivity, but we didn’t get to have that. The only exclusive thing we get to enjoy was that unseen practice videos in which we couldn’t even actually enjoy because we were ushered to move along.
We still love and admire the boys and appreciate their team’s effort but we’re also allowed to be disappointed because we had expectations from the previous HYBE Insight museum contents.
Anyways, Burger Boy was amazing, the fries were amazing and Diana who doesn’t eat ketchup or sauces in general because of their texture actually ate the fries with the ketchup! It was that good. It was kinda hot at the rooftop but we still enjoyed it.
We decided to go back to Myeongdong and go to Nike to check out the customised stuff, and I needed a duffel bag because the one I bought in Hongdae gave up on me.
We ended up not customizing anything because it was just too long of a wait and we wanted to go check out Hangang Park.
We didn’t really do much at Hangang, just sat on the steps and soak in the atmosphere, watch some busking performance and donated, and walked around for a bit since it was starting to get dark even though it was still early. A random decision was to go to Itaewon to go to Jonny’s Dumpling.
The minute we got to Itaewon we were already loving the vibe, maybe it was because there were more young people there, and the night life was great with a lot of tourists/foreigners so it felt more diverse and comfortable for us. We were like, “We shall stay here next time!”. The shitty thing was we had to queue for an hour and a half for Jonny’s Dumpling and it weren’t even that good. It was alright, but compared to Myeongdong Kyoja which totally blowed our mind, this pales in comparison.
We walked around Itaewon, taking random street pictures, Diana bought a waffle (was it a waffle?) and we just enjoyed the people dressed in costumes. Not knowing that the night after something tragic happened.
I will jumped straight to how we found out about the incident at Itaewon, the Halloween tragedy. I woke up Sunday morning with a text from Diana about it, and a text from my friend asking me my whereabouts.
I didn’t tell anyone (except for Safwan because he picked me up at the airport) we were already back in Malaysia, I’m sure some of them were worried. When I read about the incident via the link Diana shared me, I was speechless, then I saw the videos and fair to say I was affected and traumatized. I had nightmares for two days. It was slightly survivor guilt even though I was not there during the incident, but I was there the night before and seeing the victims’ from the videos. It felt eerie and I felt so strongly about the incident, I can’t even describe what kind of feelings it was, it was just a very strong feeling.
I spent the next couple of weeks keeping up with the news, saw interviews and was just very much overwhelmed by the whole tragedy. It must be weird for others to see me so affected even though I was literally not even there, I’m not Korean, nor am I a citizen there, but I was just so deeply affected by it. I have no explanation for this.
I’ll stop this sombre closing here, and we’ll talk about homecoming in the next post.
