Yan Werewolf Dad

Boo I'm back.

Let’s ignore the fact that I said I’d try to update every day. Have a yandere werewolf dad. 

Thought of Drew’s (from After Dark on Webtoon) werewolf form while writing this. 

Warnings (Let me know if I missed any): Possessiveness, blood, loss of teeth, reader gets dragged back home

Your mother left the two of you when you were young. Since then it’s been you and your dad. He’s a hardworking man, trying to make sure the two of you live comfortably and making sure you have a good childhood. Trying to make sure that you’re close to him. He can’t lose you, too. The two of you settled in a forest on a mountain after what happened. To keep you close and make sure you’re happy. 

Your average day went like this:

Your Dad wakes you up and makes you breakfast while you get ready for school. He’ll ask you what you have going on today to help you remember. Quiz in your third-period class, you have an assignment due in fifth. Things like that while he takes your lunch out of the fridge and gives it to you. He’ll walk with you to the bus, wish you a good day, kiss you on the forehead, and go back home to head to work in his car. 

Usually, you come home first. A few hours later your Dad will come back covered in small twigs and leaves, sometimes with a treat. You help him pull the twigs and leaves out of his hair and he’ll head into his bathroom to rinse. After the two of you make dinner, he’ll help you finish up your homework, and if you have time you’ll watch TV and tell each other how your day went. Once he deems that it’s time for you to go to bed, he sees you to your room, gives your forehead a kiss, and wishes you goodnight while reminding you that his door is always open if something is troubling you. 

If something is bothering you, he’s happy when you come to him. Scared? You can sleep over. Nightmare? You can talk about it if you want, or you can skip that and go straight to him reassuring you and comforting you. Just can’t sleep? You’ll talk until you do. By “talk,” it’s actually him reminding you that you’re his #1, his VIP, the most precious thing in his entire world, and that he loves you. That he wouldn’t be able to handle it if he lost you. That he’s sorry if he was short with you earlier. He hates fighting with you. He just wants to make you happy.

Today is different.

It started normal. Your Dad shook you awake gently with a smile before heading downstairs to cook you up some breakfast. He asks you what you’re doing in second period today and if you remember what the two of you went over last night—feeling nervous? Don’t worry, he knows you’ll do fine. He hands you lunch, reminds you to put on your coat and tie your shoes, waits while you sling your backpack over your shoulders, and the two of you set off toward your bus stop. After a quick “Love you, bye!”, you board the bus and he watches you leave. 

School is a blur. Second period’s quiz freaked you out a little bit but you know your Dad cares more about you than actual grades. Lunch is nice, per usual. A little note from your Dad telling you not to be too hung up over second period and that he hopes the rest of your school day is better. He also added in your favorite treat to cheer you up. 

Before you know it you’re back on the bus, riding home. You head inside, kick off your shoes in the mudroom, and laze around for at least an hour or two before starting on your schoolwork. Another hour later, you frown when the clock hits 6:30 PM because your Dad should’ve been home by now. Okay…maybe he got held up with something. You keep at it and another hour goes by. You start to feel like something is wrong. 

Pulling out your phone, you’re mid-dial when your dad practically bursts into the home. His breathing is all over the place and his arm-

Is covered in blood. Dripping and getting all over the floor and his clothes. You call out to him and ask him what happened, standing there in shock for a moment before going to find the medkit. As you search through his bathroom you hear a loud thump, followed by the sound of something not human. 

“...Dad?” 

Uneasy, you slowly make your way out of his room and into the kitchen. You hear his breathing, but you don’t see him. You see blood all over the kitchen island and sink- and there’s some small white thing on it as well. 

“Dad? I got the medkit…” You offer, rounding the corner. And then you freeze because what the fuck.

Three teeth are scattered on the floor. Your Dad’s teeth. And hunched over on said floor is some large, fur-covered beast emitting steam and making the most gutwrenching sounds you have ever heard. Where is your dad? What is this thing in front of you? Are you dreaming? Did you fall asleep while doing your homework?

The creature shifts, and you can see the ugly bite mark on its arm. It lets out a loud, drawn-out whine as it rises, arm lazily flopping onto the counter while it tries to pull itself up. It balances itself, breathless and trying to process what’s going on. You take a step back and it turns its head to look at you.

Your Dad’s eyes look into your own. Deep red brown and soft. Scared. Mouth open. Fangs are where his canines used to be. He’s…taller. His skin seems tight on his body, which is covered in fur. His ears are like a wolf’s- 

There’s no way.

Werewolves aren’t real. Right?

With the grace of a newborn deer, the beast- your Dad stumbles on shaky legs. He turns around, holding onto the island like his life depended on it. The two of you just stand there, staring at each other. Your Dad tries to speak but all that comes out is some sort of yip. Something in your head clicks, and you take several steps back. He whines and tries to move closer to you, only to fall. When you move further away, his eyes harden and he snarls at you. 

You freeze. Your Dad tries to walk over to you, growling, and that’s when instinct takes over. 

Leading to where you are now, running through the forest in the middle of the night. You’re trying to find the main road that your bus stop is at. You don’t really know why. Barely anyone takes this road aside from the bus that takes you to school and the few other people who live several miles away from you. The occasional passerby uses the road in their long journey to get from point A to point B. 

You must’ve gotten turned around at some point. You’re nowhere near the street. You’re not even on the pathway you and your dad have walked down countless times. Alright. This is fine. You’ll find a way to retrace your steps in the middle of the dark. Totally. 

A sound cuts through the air. Some sort of cry, a bark mixed with someone trying to call your name. Part of you wants to respond and go to it, realizing that you just left your Dad even though he needs help. The other half doesn’t recognize him as your Dad anymore. Just a monster that’s hunting you down. You freeze again as your brain fights with itself, self-preservation and emotion currently in a heated argument. 

The arguing ceases and turns into panicked screaming when something pounces on you. Oh wait, no- you’re actually screaming. Out loud, not just in your head. The part of you that doesn’t want to die takes over and you start to struggle. In response, the monster snarls at you, claws digging into your skin. It stops when it draws blood and you start to cry, snarls switching into whimpers and whines. 

It was an accident. He didn’t mean to. You scared him when you ran off and you won’t come back home. He’s just so scared. He needs you. You’re the only family he has left, and part of you is him, after all. So you need him, too. 

Especially now. Even though it’s kind of his fault. 

Your Dad tries to pick you up and carry you back home, but you won’t stop thrashing around so it turns into him having to drag you back home. Kicking and screaming while he tries to apologize but can only keep making those odd noises. Begging and calling for help while he starts to feel annoyed because he’s right here, he’ll help you and make it better, he promises internally. 

Once you’re back home, it’s a bit odd. You have your Dad, who’s turned into a literal werewolf, dragging you inside after chasing and hurting you. He steers you over to the sink, washing the cuts he gave you with an apologetic look in his eye. It shifts into annoyance when he notices that you're also covered in dirt, scrapes, and other small cuts. This is what happens when you don't sit still. Your Dad bandages you up with shaky hands, still getting used to this new body of his. At this point, you’re too terrified and confused to fight back and cry. 

You’re guided into your bedroom and you immediately scramble into your bed. It feels safer there. Your Dad closes the door, flopping down next to you and pulling you close. He needs this. Needs his pup- kid close to him. Needs to know that they’re safe and secure and happy. You can miss a few days of school while the two of you figure this out.

Not So Shoujo Love Story: Rei is unashamedly obsessed with manga, particularly the shoujo genre. She spends her time ignoring real life and schoolwork and dreaming of the day the perfect boy will fall for her, and life becomes perfect! The best part? She knows exactly what everyone’s role is! Hansum Ochinchin (google translate his name <3) is the most adored, hottest boy in school, and Hanna, the most popular girl, will be her love rival! That is… until Hanna professes her love for Rei, and her shoujo dream is thrown for a loop! This Webtoon is really cute and absolutely HILARIOUS I’ve cried from laughing at this. Hanna is a proud and self-proclaimed pervert. The bullies (FOUR-AM!) practice dramatic poses in the bathroom. Rei gets a love rival for Hanna against her will. Hanna’s father is an st avid cosplayer. You never learn what exactly Hansum is, but he can photosynthesize. It’s a wild ride and genuinely so enjoyable I love it.

Homesick: Recommending this one since you’ve read School Bus Graveyard! It’s almost a “sister series” in that the fanbases overlap lots and the creators have done collabs too! Disclaimer that it’s mature for a reason. It covers a lot of dark topics and is a HORROR FOR A REASON. If you do choose to read it I can provide trigger warnings, though it may spoil some plotlines a bit. Rayne (my pfp!) wakes up on a rooftop with no memories at all and meets a boy named Samael, who quickly informs her that it’s the apocalypse. Cannibalistic creatures called murks roam the land, feeding on anything that makes eye contact. Rayne and Samael form a deal to survive, but things get really, REALLY messy when they encounter someone from Samael’s past and get wrapped up in something that might just be worse than the apocalypse. On top of it all, Rayne has noticed some strange things about herself, including terrible headaches that warn her of murks… (It’s so good I love it but good lord it gets dark. I really want to say more about it but the story doesn’t jump right into the main action or plot right away so I CAN’T WITHOUT SPOILING IT SOB.) FULL POST:

Our Walk Home: Fake Hating Trope, that’s it, that’s the description. Suisha Academy and Higasa High School have always been rivals, bitter ones at that. Akihiko Shiraishi is the top student for his age at Suisha. He’s the perfect student: charming, polite, smart, athletic, and kind to everyone. In reality… my poor guy is the most anxious little mess with no idea what he’s doing. Worst of all, he’s now being forced into the role of “rival” to Harumi Kurose, top student of Higasa, cold, terrifying, and maybe just enough to defeat Shiraishi. When we meet him, though, he is also literally just some guy, and neither really care about the “rivalry,” so they become fast friends. Whenever they’re with classmates, they’ll have to keep up the masks or golden boy and ice prince who hate each other, but when they’re just walking home, it’s a breath of fresh air to both. But if anyone else outside of school found out, their lives will become a living hell and be ruined forever… maybe this rivalry is a bit too intense. (Still int he early stages but this one is cute!)

Deathsitter: In this cutesy, cartoony, Easter-themed world, dying is a business. Beings called Reapers work tirelessly to ensure YOUR loved ones have a nice death! Felix, described as a “deadbeat drug addict with seemingly supernatural luck,” can’t stop annoying the life out of the local reaper, Lloyd, every time he nearly overdoses. Lloyd himself is an ever-busy, stressed-as-heck single father, and due to unfortunate circumstance and flakey relatives, must rely on Felix as a babysitter. The only rule? DO. NOT. OPEN. HIS. DAUGHTER’S. DOOR. Yeah Felix screws up immediately and thus ensues one the most chaotic, tragic, and comedic series of events as he reaps (ha ha) the consequences of his actions. It’s amazing. Definite trigger warning for violence, language, drug use, and blood/gore (I’m a squeamish person so it’s not bad + anything is all the cutesy pastel style lol.) FULL POST:

Castle Swimmer: Can’t reveal TOO much of this ‘cause spoilers but it’s a really really good story. In this society of “Mers” (merfolk), every kingdom has long awaited the day a mysterious, mythical being known as the Beacon arrives. He will grant each kingdom’s prophecy, be that granting them fortune or saving their lives. When the Beacon arrives, though, turns out he’s literally just some guy named Kappa who has no idea what he’s doing. Siren is the prince of the shark kingdom. The kingdom of the sharks have a curse that will cause them to suffer and become covered in scars and eventually die. The only way they can break the curse is whenever the Beacon arrives—and Siren, as predicted, will kill him. The only problem is that Siren REALLY doesn’t want to be a murderer, and Kappa REALLY doesn’t want to die, and they both are pining HARD. It’s a super entertaining series. There’s a bunch of evil witches who feel guilty if you get them a gift and they don’t get you one back. There’s a sea bunny. Kappa’s only weak spot, romantically, is teeth. There’s living sponges. There’s a Jellyfish who’s dream is to Kill. It’s glorious.

School Bus Graveyard: Ashlyn Banner is happy as a loner. Socializing is tired, and people are loud, which hurts because she has extra-sensitive hearing. Because of this, she hears “phantom noises,” or auditory hallucinations. She doesn’t plan to change, until two cousins move to school, and the MOST extraverted child on earth, Aiden Clark, decides to befriend her no matter what. She unfortunately gets partnered with him for a school project (as well as Ben, Aiden’s silent and reserved cousin, Logan, a sweet but shy nerdy kid, Tyler, a short-tempered jock character, and Taylor, Tyler’s twin sister who is so sweet and so amazing.) Everything is fine until one wrong stop causes the six to begin visiting a terrifying world in their sleep, and they begin fighting for their lives against monstrous entities whenever they sleep. (SO GOOD.)

Spent a bus ride yesterday reading a 1997 book by Gary Martin called The Art of Comic Book Inking that someone recced in the Cartoonist Co-Op server. I'm not the target audience for it (it's geared towards traditional inkers working in the print comics industry and is more for b&w comics imo) but it's an...interesting look into how the industry was back then. And by interesting, I mean bleak as fuck!

So I got curious and tried to find what the page rates for being an inker are like now, and had a look at this list of rates from Comic Book Resource, which are all self-reported by industry professionals.*

You'll notice 'inker' isn't even its own category here. The closest one is 'line artist' which is both pencils and inks, which for the sake of argument let's say is twice the amount of work as inking by itself. (It's not, pencils are harder, don't at me.) I took the average of rates from 2020-2022 for line artists and got $227/page, for both pencils and inks.

The very lowest rate of $100/pg in 1997 for JUST inking would be $190 today. If line artists do twice the work (again, an underestimate) by doing pencils too, that ought to translate to $380/page at the lowest end today. It doesn't somehow! Huh. Have a look through that rate list and you'll see rates even lower than $100/page in today's money (mostly from the usual suspects.)

Here's some more fun math:

Forget the $28k number above--he's including covers in this number, which pay differently. Say you do 22pgs/month at $100/page--that's $26,400 (1997)/$50,282 (today). Subtract a third for taxes** and your take-home amount would be $33,522 in today's money, which works out to a wage of $16/hr.***

At the high end of Martin's numbers, let's say 44 pages a month at $150/page for a total of $79,200, or $52,800 after taxes, and an hourly rate of $25/hr. Adjusted for inflation, that's $150,845 gross/$100,563 net/$48 hourly.

Average these numbers together, and the rates in today's money would be $67,042 net/$32 hourly.

Assuming line artists do twice the work, these numbers ought to be doubled, at $120k/yr or $64/hr.

But by the actual numbers we have, if a line artist works that same amount at the average rate of $227/page, that works out to $59,928 before taxes, $40,132 after, and an hourly wage of $19.

The kicker: the living wage in my metro area (same one Gary Martin lived in when he published this book, incidentally) is $21/hr, assuming no kids. Lol.

This is also assuming you can pencil AND ink at least 22 pages a month every month sustainably without destroying yourself, which is an EXTREMELY generous assumption. Also, no one gets health insurance working in comics, so take that into account with this shoulder-destroying pace.

I'm sure I'm mostly preaching to the choir here, and none of this information is really a surprise to me--oh comics is also a bad industry that doesn't page a living wage? shocker!--but it's interesting**** to actually be able to run the numbers on it to see how much, exactly, rates have stagnated. A lot, as it turns out!

Anyway, here's a little look into how comics pays, in case you're unfamiliar. It pays bad.

*this isn't even including companies like Webtoons and Tapas, who are fairly notorious at this point for underpaying and overworking creators. This is largely print publishing.

**the self-employment tax rate in the US is something like 15.1% and has been since at least 1990 but advice is usually to pay a third in quarterly taxes--easier to overpay and get it back at tax time than underpay and owe.

***based on 40hrs/wk, and I'm showing this number bc I think more people understand hourly wages than rates. I wouldn't include the amount for taxes in this bc if you're working an hourly wage you're probably not self-employed.

I came back from Taiwan a week ago (been dead for several days afterwards), and it was amazing. I really hope to go back maybe next year. I still have many sights I want to see, and maybe experience a different season. And I miss the food! Taiwan is heaven for vegetarians (probably because of Buddhism), there are great and extremely cheap eateries literally everywhere. Sure, it’s usually like you eat on the roadside, but who cares?! There’s still so much I didn’t try. Aside from one day I had great weather, albeit with higher temperatures that expected, so I really went into summer mostly with around 25°C. One day had 27°C and the only bad weather day had 15°C. Traffic is really extreme, riding and getting off the bus is outright scary, but cheap and necessary, and there are a lot of scooters. The temples were gorgeous, and I also checked out stationery, used book stores for Taiwanese comics and the Taipei Animate. Many of their translations, especially book editions of webtoons have gorgeous extras, but they are so expensive… In the end for new release I only bought one Taiwanese comic that was published in Japan but in monochrome. Stationery were cheap, and I regret not buying some more stuff… The spoken language was a challenge. Young people speak some basic English, but the pronunciation can be tricky. With older folks it was up to gestures – I learned the strange way they show 60 XD On the other hand, basic written things were quite okay for me thanks to kanji. I had great fun with the way some “newer” things are written here and there: the stop button on the bus is 降車ボタン in Japan, but 下車鈴 in Taiwan – and it makes perfect sense :D Anyway, it was really great, very exhausting with the kilometers I walked and then the trip back from Tokyo to Akita, but I can’t wait to do it again.

August Artist Blog (more under the cut)

For August I tried to make a vlog, not only to document my month making art, but also my attempts to overhaul my approach to making and sell art. However, I’m not experienced at making vlogs, nor do I have a quiet, dedicated space to record voiceovers. But I did post a video of me doing marker work. We’ll get to that in a bit.

Introduction

First off, in case you’re new here, my name’s Antonio Tyler. I’m a webcomic creator and illustrator. I’ve been making art most my life, but started drawing comics in 2003 with my first webcomic, Synaptic Misfiring.

I drew variations of Synaptic Misfiring for a few years, got married, had kids, worked two jobs (because California). Over the last 5 years, though, I’ve been focusing more on illustration and selling products, though o want to get back into webcomics. I did a 3 episode Webtoon called Only Human, but I haven’t done a comic in a few years now.

Mobile Studio Setup

I don’t have a dedicated studio. I know a lot of artists do. But it’s not impossible to have a setup that is portable.

I use a 4th generation iPad Air with 64GB and a 2nd generation Apple Pencil. I use IbisPaint X, and use the paid version. I find it’s most ideal for making comics. And it’s constantly updated. New features are added all the time.

I have an assortment of tonal markers by Tombow, and a couple of Copics.

I always carry my iPad with me, so I can work on sketches or finished art whenever or wherever. You can access IbisPaint’s cloud storage via internet if needed, but it also stores files locally. It’s great being able to draw on a lunch break, a bus ride, or at the library. Occasionally I carry a sketchbook and pens with me if I intend to do traditional art.

Rethinking websites and storefronts

A couple months back I looked into doing a website on a number of platforms, such as Wix, Squarespace, etc. While a lot of them are pretty affordable, and have good options, I don’t really use my website much. It’s mostly a hub for all my other sites and profiles.

Tumblr, having been purchased by the Wordpress folks awhile back, is really pushing itself as a website alternative, with their templates (which they always have had) and having direct sales of web address. I’m in the process of updating AntonioTyler.com while also keeping the functionality of a Tumblr page. Tumblr is notorious less functional as a mobile site or app. So choosing the right template has been a challenge.

One thing is making a Linktree/Beacons/Milkshake-style link page instead of just a text based link page. Including links to all my different store fronts.

Updating my storefronts happens to be another thing on my to do list. I have several, and they are all decentralized. I use several: Ko-fi, Threadless, INPRNT and BigCartel. Originally I was going to use BigCartel for my sole storefront, but issues with getting Stripe to work dampened those plans. And BigCartel was mostly for my international customers, since it uses Printful products. But since there was a less than enthusiastic response, I will keep all my storefronts, but make them specialty shops. Threadless will have the bulk of my products, BigCartel will be a seasonal exclusive shop, INPRNT will be my…prints, and Ko-fi will be my digital shop (though I’m toying with the idea of carrying my Printful items here).

September plans

Working on some new Wand-Slinger merch for the seasonal shop. Threadless will be getting an overhaul. The website will be wrapped up and relaunched.

CURRENT OBSESSION: Ateez is always there ofc. im writhing around silently waiting for a new chapter of the Reborn Rich webtoon. the korean web novel is complete iirc and there are full translations out there but theyre kinda crappy. but i am so tempted to go find em... but i have homework. also another webtoon School Bus Graveyard which is insane. i highly recommend both webtoons! the second is thriller and has gore but its awesome.

I was gonna post some stuff this morning, but my laptop was. Not having it. So I guess I'll post later. Anyways. Hi. I read the Lumine finale last night on Fastpass and had. A lot of feelings about it. Spoilers under the cut, I'm trying to keep it vague just in case the mobile readmore doesn't really Work.

To summarize what I'm feeling:

I love open-ended stories. A lot. I don't think creators have to tie up every loose-end, and I think that there are some things that... It's left better for fan speculation and theory, and those loose threads can really spark creativity in fandom spaces.

Lumine's ending felt... Warm. It felt kind and hopeful, for the most part, despite the grief that's hanging over Kody's head. I loved it. I genuinely loved the ending. I loved that it called back to "Dogs ride for free" a lot, it made me really happy to see that.

It did feel. Incomplete to me. It felt a bit sudden and incomplete, and that's a sentiment that I see shared in the comments. When I opened the first fastpass last night, I told my husband: "I don't think Lumine is going to wrap everything up neatly. But I won't be mad or upset. I'm sure it will be a beautiful ending, regardless." And I feel like I was correct in that. To me, it was a beautiful ending. Just... Open-ended, and that's not what's really common nowadays, I guess? But I think I'm used to open-ended stories thanks to other things I've been into, I like exploring them, even just in thought. I have a deep love open-ended things, so seeing this be so open-ended made me genuinely happy, though I know it's left a lot of other people frustrated. And that's fair.

Anyways. I hope kaburion can take a nice break, rest her hand/wrist. I can't wait to see what she does next. I really liked the Sirius of Earth (I think it was called that?) prologue she posted awhile back, and if that's what she works on next, I genuinely can't wait.

Not to get extra sappy. But. Lumine itself will always be so, so special to me, and I will always love it. It was my first webtoon, back in 2018. I moved in with my husband and found it shortly after, I remember starting to read it on my clunky laptop, sitting on the living room couch of the shotgun house we were renting. The heating system didn't work too well, so I was bundled with my dog and cat, and I fell in love with the series then and there. I was utterly charmed. It got me to download the webtoon app. And then, later, Lalin's Curse launched. Castle Swimmer. Shelter. Sweet Home. I'm The Grim Reaper. School Bus Graveyard. I don't remember the specific order, but I remember exactly where I was and what I was doing when I started all of these and fell in love with them. But Lumine really started it all for me, and I'll always hold it so dearly in my heart.

You should sit comfortably. Astoundingly he also layed a blanket over your seat in case it's getting cold in the white and black office.

🍈 Samuel wears a high brand shirt and fitting pants. A golden belt marks his waist and a chain and some rings drag attention on his neck, chest and hands. He wants to show you what he's got and how strong he is: he can protect you, he can help you and he can do other things with you.

🍈 Samuel asked a dear colleague of his to help him find one of the most breathtaking and elegant bouquets existing in Korea. In the end, it is this one he will bring to you with a cheesy smirk.

🍈 You both play poker with certain conditions; you don't play with money but with questions and kisses. You don't really know why you agreed, especially when you knew he was good and gambling. Samuel insists on sleeping on his couch as it is as comfortable as his bed and he sleeps there on busy days anyways. His bed has an intense smell of his and the bedsheets are soft and warm. Sleeping in his room is like sleeping in another world.

🍈 Option two would mean the same for Gun, he'd ride you home, placing a light kiss in your cheek and wishes you good night. He'd send you a message saying "Let's repeat that night with more than just questions tomorrow". The next date would be set.

🍈 Jake goes the safe and good way: a good action or horror movie in the cinema. He thinks watching romance movies when you have a date is kinda weird and on top of that, he likes horror movies quite a lot. So he casually met you on his street again and asked you, if you want to watch the new Conjuring movie.

🍈 The movie starts in the afternoon and a lot of people show up at the movie theater. It forces you both to stand closely which makes Jake's heart flip backwards.

🍈 Jake shows up in a casual sweater and a shirt underneath, in case you get cold, and comfortable pants. He looks chill yet modest and some small accessories compliment his outfit cutely. He looks less scary and intimating when he's casually going out; it nearly looks like he's a normal teenage boy who enjoys life and his friends - and you.

What bouquet would he bring you?

🍈 He's going very cute and innocent. Purple and beige roses with some sparkly elements. He doesn't want to seem too romantic nor too flirty. A simple gesture of liking you and some joy is his goal. Jake is very flirty, which you know, but on your first date he seemed so innocent and carefree.

🍈 He will give you the flowers first while blushing and then he gives you a big bear hug, being happy and screaming like a happy child inside of him. The roses smell very good and he explains to you why he paid so much for flowers: "Well, the cinema isn't a very big and boom first date, you know. I thought bringing you some nice flowers makes you more happy, even if the movie sucks crap."

How would he behave throughout the date?

🍈 You chose the couple seats in the back row when you got your tickets. He was so red when he saw the number on his ticket and hell he was happy you wanted to be so close to him. You feel his happiness but you don't address it because Jake would get immediately flirty when his soft side is pointed out.

🍈 He wishes for the movie to be lame. Why? So you mayyy fall asleep on his shoulder and he can feel your calm breath near him. Though he falls asleep more than you and you feel his weight pressing against you. When the whole room screams because of a jumpscare he wakes up and looks at you, feeling bad because he slept in. He apologizes immediately but you don't mind. He looked cute sleeping. Little did he know you took some pictures of him.

🍈 He gives you his sweater midway in the movie,saying it's super hot in the room. Jake's feelings turn upside down when you dragged it over your head saying nothing. Like... It's you. You in his big, baggy sweater. Jake falls in love that moment and knows you're a keeper and that he should go on dates more often, so you'll start to like him too.

How would the date end?

🍈 It's gonna be evening when you two come out. He suggested to go eat on Vasco diner. Vasco was surprised seeing a person like you and Jake, the big deal leader, together. The small snack is enough for you two and he walks you home.

🍈 As a goodbye you will feel his bearhug and pounding heart again. He tells you goodbye and walks away. You notice you still wear his sweater but when you call out to him, he keeps walking. Jake's big brain planned a following date again. At some point you'll search for him to give him back his sweater.

🍈 When you text him about his sweater, he answers cool, well, feeling cool and flirty. "Woah. I didn't even notice cause I was so hot all the time. ;) Well, let's meet up again so you can give it back. I may let you keep it though."

Just wanted to take a moment to appreciate this very important chapter from the webtoon Grey is... Clippings. These two characters are childhood best friends and since there are many shippers who are sometimes confused that there is actually no romance between them, the author released a chapter where the characters talk about how expressing affection and doing certain things doesn't make their bond any less platonic. I warmly recommend reading this webtoon if you value friendships and wish to see more appreciation of them in media. There is also the original manga Grey is... by the same author which I also highly recommend reading if you wish to understand the characters and their story better!
