The difference between my two anti-social oc’s! A little informational post. I need to get me a damn computer to write all this stuff down on, but instead I type like a madman with my two fat thumbs. Good god this is a long post of just ramblings.

Other people (Some people) in Bullworth academy typically carry the misconception that Marcus is just a shy, or a socially awkward person… or just an asshole… ok that one is a little more true. It’s an easy assumption to make from an outside perspective, if he’s never spoken to you. Given his avoidance towards any social interaction possible… But, while some bits and pieces of that are true, it’s not the case.

Marcus’ anti-social personality comes from something that runs deeper than just regular introvert ‘tendencies’. A judgmental and typically pessimistic outlook on society comes almost naturally to him.

So, what I wanted to say with this, is that with his non-existent need to be involved in social situations, his distaste for others, it comes from social anhedonia. Well, some form of it. Which, is typically seen as the opposite of social anxiety when it comes to the anti-social side of things. People who usually have social anhedonia don’t feel emotionally attached to regular, everyday social interactions, so they don’t feel the need to worry about how they are perceived, while social anxiety disorders revolve more around those aspects. (I am no psychologist obviously! just a guy who loves looking into these things. so if this stuff is wonky, i apologize 😭.)

Social Anhedonia can come from a lot of different sources, usually from more paranoid disorders. Like, i’ve mentioned Marcy has OCD before, which can correlate to schizotypal behaviors/personality disorders.

Marcus doesn’t think everyone is against him, no, not really. But, his biggest fear is just that. His lengths of paranoia don’t go as far as Gary’s, but that’s probably just because he is a medicated man.—

And, despite what some people gossip about, Marcus does care for people. Big shocker. He has a thing where he could feel lots of empathy for someone or none at all—it all just depends on the person.

Alright… now that THAT freak is disclosed, i’m gonna talk a little about Vohn.

So, like what i said earlier about Marcus and social anhedonia, Vohn would be kind of the opposite spectrum of that. His issues kind of focus more around anxieties. Is it a crazy shock that he has social anxiety?

It’s basically that, except that it just ties into something else, because social anxiety and anxiety in general can create a whole path full of social struggles in the end. This ‘struggle’ for him is primarily AVPD, which is avoidant personality disorder. It usually occurs in people who feel insecure in social situations, being somewhat related to social anxiety more than just social anhedonia.

Vohn is the opposite of Marcy, he actually wants more social interaction, he wishes he was more open. He sees the world around him more positively than he actually puts out, well— sorta. He thinks (knows) that putting himself in more social situations would be good for him. To him, it’s better to get to know the people he’s around before he can’t.

Vohn feels things much deeper than Marcus, and it’s not that Marcus doesn’t feel— he just has a more black and white way of thinking when he handles his own emotions. While Vohn likes to think and talk through them. Or, he’ll take some creative liberties and express his stuggles through art. Even if it doesn’t come out like he wants.

I feel like I have some of the most random headcanons. but I am lowkey obsessed with the fact that John Dory is so much older than Branch that he potentially could have dated their friends'/peers' parents, and/or anything else funny and possibly entertaining that the large age difference entails lmaokskssbcdsbcjdh

Curious if you think Johnny, peanut, and Lola have/had siblings or if they're just only children. Personally I always hc johnny and lola as only children but felt that peanut had a younger sister who passed away.

i remember reading that hc, yep!!

i hc all the three of them, however, to be only children (i think they're the only greasers that i do??). in fact, for all three of them, this fundamental isolation is their childhood is, in the way i read it, what shaped some of the way they socialize and influences a lot their interactions.

as for johnny, the thing is that his parents were both in the drug dealing circles of new coventry, hence why they were in prison for a while- his father was actually pretty important in the neighborhood, while his mom mostly helped and did other legal jobs (which is also why she got out earlier). and johnny learnt both how to be a man and how not to be a man from his father- he taught him strength and roughness and to never take a hit but punch harder. but he also taught that johnny didn't want to hit his woman, didn't want to leave the house for a smoke to cool his head when she was crying and threatening to hurt herself because of him, didn't want her to be his slave.

in this framework, i think that him having, say, a brother would sort of... scatter the relationship his father has with him, the attention and, almost, the pressure to be worthy of being treated as a peer. which is something i really like to read for johnny. and i also like the idea of him having had his mother as the only woman in his life, before lola. call him a mama's boy, but he learned to take care of his mother before he even questioned how to deal with an eventual girlfriend. so he has learned to take care of the people he has around himself, such as peanut, almost in a way that replaces a paternal figure as protector of the house. but also internalized some very specific notions about masculinity and virility that he totally projects onto the relationship with lola.

ultimately, i think, the whole point is that the way he lives the relationship with lola in particular is basically a result with having grown up with the only reference in his house of close human interaction as his parents, and having to sort of step up where they lacked in the sole spousal relationship.

with peanut, my hc is that his mom had him when she was very young, sixteen years old, and she was... basically on her own, really; the boy she had had him with had fled as soon as he had a chance, her dad was on the other side of the ocean and her mom was basically mia (i still have to figure out the logistics of this, since, when i first elaborated it, i forgot for a while that Laws Existed, LMAO, and i was already too far in the creating process to change that), so she had to raise him on her own. and peanut spent most of his childhood in his living room, waiting for his mom to come back home, watching the vhs she had rented for him and reading the motors magazines. it's there that he fell in love with greasers, crushing on marlon brando and james dean, the shiny motorcycles and the raw leather jackets.

he basically had to live with himself, you see. also bc his mom, so young and unprepared, was very overwhelmed most of the time, and- i did post a quick snippet of a scrapped chapter of my fic already, actually, so you can get a broad but more detailed idea of their relationship if you want!! either way, point is. larry had to learn to tend to himself at a very young age, dealing with the loneliness and his own sensitivity, running from eventual kids of the neighborhood, who liked to take advantage of him being much smaller than most of them, trying not to take up too much space and upset his mom.

so of course, when he met johnny, older, proud, powerful as a sun, promising to take care of him, it felt almost unreal, something he never thought he could have wished for nor something he thought he deserved. some kind of care and protection hed never learnt to receive, and that he hang onto for dear life because suddenly... he wasn't on his own anymore.

(sometimes parents are just Contextual Objects. other time they are fully fleshed ocs with a backstory and a whole personality. turns out despite everything immacolata romano is really my child and i am so so fond of her and id have soo much more to say abt her relationship w peanut. but i digress)

and lola- i'll admit, shes the one i bounced back and forth about the most, in trying to imagine her family's situation. (in fact, if you see any reference to her family in my older fics/post, no you dont) at some point i even considered the idea of her having a much older brother who would sort of fill in for some absent father figure, but then i scrapped it. i think that, in her case as well, having grown up alone with her parents' relationship as a reference makes potentially much more sense than any other possibility i considered.

lola has a quote, in which she says "i'm so old, my life is almost over!" when... she's just?? sixteen??? seventeen??? i think it's because, see, her parents got married and had her when they were young, maybe nineteen or twenty- yknow, as soon as it was legal for the both of them without too many loopholes. however, the relationship was very unbalanced and fundamentally deteriorated, perhaps not from the beginning but very soon. her father being dominant, violent, arrogant and such. and her mother has always been bitter, subdued but angry and resentful at her husband, at the golden expectations she had, at her womanhood and, of course, at her daughter. she's always seen her as living proof of her own wasted beauty and youth; but, especially as soon lola started growing up to the age at which girls start being looked at by the boys, which we unfortunately know how soon it is, saw in her what she felt she'd lost. so she'd often remind her how lola was the reason why she is now a ruin of a woman, why she went from a beautiful and promising girl to an old and unattractive hag.

again- her being the only child helps focus on her the kingpin of this dynamic, especially on her mother's part. so lola grew up knowing what can happen to women, what remains when the fairytales of the princess marrying the prince crumble with the remnants of childhood. she realized at eleven, twelve years old how men were starting to look at her in the street and she knew what the next step would have been. she was reminded every day of her life. so, when she walked into bullworth, into the relationship with johnny, all she knew is that she wouldn't have ended up like her mother. knew that she wouldn't have fallen in love, wouldn't be tricked by the sweet words and the dreamy gazes. and she knew that she had no weapons to defend herself but the very thing that could've otherwise been the death of her, that being the male attention. and finding a way to use johnny's attention specifically, with his blind devotion mixed to the obliviousness, to her own advantage... well, that's what her whole arc is about, isn't it.

as i write this, i'm starting to realize that her having, perhaps specifically a brother, might function as a tool to highlight the difference in treatment between her, a daughter, and an eventual son. however, i stand my case that i really like the idea of this whole dynamic of her parents and her mother in particular resting on her and her only, creating this sort of... tunnel vision in which her very isolation in front of her view create her idea of how the world works.

While a lot of people reasonably don't like the bully ending up falling in love with their target troupe, I honestly don't feel really bad about pairing Butch and James together for a few reasons. And this is speaking as both a writer and someone who was bullied constantly through his childhood

First of all, I don't have them end up together to be a perfect couple where it's like nothing bad happened between them, their relationship is rocky at best. In my narrative it's very obvious that Butch is 100% not good for James despite having sweet moments, James constantly has his doubts about their relationship and people outside of the relationship often point out how shitty of a boyfriend Butch is to him

Secondly, I know that for something like that to realistically work the bully character would need to do a lot of introspection and growing as a person to be viable for any positive relationship with the target of their harassment, so the whole reason they fall apart is BECAUSE Butch never fully committed to changing. He thought that he simply needed to be nice more than mean and spoil him to make up for constantly neglecting James' needs and still belittling him (whether intentional or not) and because of that they have a very messy breakup (and James doesn't miss their relationship too much)

So, lastly, it's basically like a narrative where the shitty actions of Butch leads to quite a bit of consequences where his asshole tendencies leaves him alone and vulnerable in a world he's not suited for. To an extent it's also something that leads James along in a narrative way where he starts to lose his naivety and learn that sometimes people will suck and treat him badly and it's not his fault and not something he can magically change without hurting himself for it

TL;DR - I hope when people see me mention their relationship they don't assume I'm writing it in a shippy, "omg they're so cute together!!!" way but rather in a "this is the way these characters would interact" way

BULLY OC BLACK AND WHITE YEARBOOK PHOTOS ❤️. (Vohns is an old-ish one from when he used to go to Bullworth.)

Some stuff about them!! Just a little thing about their future/what they want to be. But… i’m gonna ramble some more in this post, just some info about how or why they arrived at Bullworth in the first place!

Marcus-

Marcus arrived at Bullworth for a couple of reasons, but they all really tie together. He was a homeschooled little rich boy up until his early high school years, so Bullworth was a complete 180 from what he was used to. Being an already anti-social child, plus being homeschooled for most of his education did not help his steadily declining care for social interaction. His father noticed this (a little late, however) and after long discussions… Marcus was sent off to Bullworth. It was less of a punishment, his father said, and more of a way to meet other people, something out of his normalcy— ‘troubled’ kids of different backgrounds, and such. Marcy couldn’t disagree more.

Rudy-

Rudy is a little bit of the opposite, he was sent there for ‘disciplinary’ reasons. It was a way to keep him in line. His parents sent him to Bullworth because they already assumed the worst for his future. Sure, Rudy was an easily peer pressured kid, got into a bit of trouble over acting like a jackass because his friends did—some times going out to loiter in some random country hicks part of the woods, which inevitably got him and his shitty friends caught. Eventually, his mistakes added up one by one and his parents felt like they’ve lost control of him. So, a strict boarding school was the best way to go. Plus, extra time away from home.

Vohn-

Vohn obviously didn’t stay in Bullworth for too long, but he came for a bit of a ‘re-start’ of sorts. Once his mother got a new higher paying job, they took that chance to send him to somewhere different—Bullworth seemed pretty fine. His school life had always been a little rougher, making friends was just about as hard as finding a piece of hay in a needle stack at his old school, and Bullworth was just about the same in the end. Vohn became more homesick whilst stuck in the boys dorms, that combined with regular high-school burn out KILLED him. It was not the freshest of starts.

her voice is soft, smooth, and mature. she’s probably soothed people to sleep just by speaking without her knowing about it.

has this intense fear/assumption that her parents think she’s dead because of how long she’s been missing, and she doesn’t want to go back to jeju island because of that reason.

sure she’s super close with ted, but shes even closer with his mother, she looks up to mrs thompson and is probably one of the few adults that harin actually respects.

speaking of ted, once a week they’ll sneak outside of the dorms and hang out, especially if one (or both) of them can’t sleep due to nightmares

has an irrational fear of anyone older than her, or taller than her, or people who have some sort of power over her.

will constantly tell ricky how the jocks (for the most part) aren’t all that bad, especially ted.

gets mad when people think shes dating ted, its just embarrassing.

speaking in korean when shes sleepy/just woke up is the norm for her, peanut took some time getting used to it.

very stubborn, won’t let anyone help her unless its a greaser or someone else she’s super close to.

clingy. despite having an insane crush on peanut romano, she’ll latch onto and cuddle any of her friends, and considers it perfectly platonic. norton and ricky are her favourite cuddle buddies, as well as peanut (frwgvtrferefer)

loves spicy food, especially spicy burgers/sandwiches/etc

her music taste consist of elvis, tom jones, lee hyori, paul anka, gorrillaz, and kim kyungho.

the scars on her neck came from her past abusers who would harm her with knives when she refused to comply to certain things

insane how i went full circle on charizard. went from disliking it bc i didnt like ash’s charizard at the time, squirtle being my favorite kanto starter, then bulbasaur being my favorite overall starter for a time, all the while resenting charizard for the special attention. and now its my favorite kanto starter line and im getting tagged in posts with it and getting super excited over it. just because i made a shitty woman oc with it

Two sisters, forever best friends since day one. The perfect daughter to uphold her family's legacy, that crushes those that she deems inferior. Behind her, the littlest spider lost amongst her daydreams and unable to find a voice of her own. Despite their differences, they remained together, You never saw one without the other - or at least that's how the story was supposed to go.

Wasn't having the best art day but I did manage to do some OC art at the end of it. Needed to practice drawing armor so who better than my Knight Aesthetic Forces OC, Glaive the Dog! He's kind of an ass.

This armor concept is probably not what I'm sticking with in the long term just a first attempt.

Fun fact; His wispon is actually a greatsword I will probably never draw because designing it how it works in my head has proven... difficult to say the least! Also he's got two prosthetics, his left arm and right leg.

And yes he does bite.
