Immortal Being that Still Somehow has Parent Issues: Myul Mang/Doom (Doom at your Service) Lee Yeon & Lee Rang (Tale of the Nine Tailed) Jeong Gu-won (My Demon)
Added trauma flavour: Parent was murdered in front of them (**Still counts if they survived the murder Parent tried to murder them Dying from seemingly incurable disease which makes their parents/guardian sad (If your parents are alive, you must pay for it by dying yourself) Adoptive parent/stepparent is THE WORST
Somehow has normal, alive parents: Lee Jun-ho (Extraordinary Attorney Woo, Has no backstory at all. We only meet his older sister and hear nothing about his childhood.) Shin Ha-ri (Business Proposal, her family is refreshingly normal, right down to her brother being sent out to find her when she's drunk) Oh Han-byeol (Sh**ting Stars, Again, we know almost nothing about her family, only that she has twin sisters. But she doesn't appear to have childhood trauma.) Park Yeon-woo (The Story of Park's Marriage Contract, her mom being annoyed at her for something that is a crime doesn't count as bad parenting) Lee Young-joon/Sung-hyun (What's Wrong with Secretary Kim, his trauma comes from a kidnapper, his parents faced a pretty impossible situation and did their best. They clearly love their kids) Baek Hyun-woo (Queen of Tears, nothing wrong with them out of the ordinary and they are in the drama a significant amount.) Ha Eun-gyeol (Twinkling Watermelon, very loving parents and the deafness and their reliance on him is not anyone's fault)
*Counting her as an orphan even though she gets her parents back after 20 years, she spent her childhood orphaned. ***This character is tricky because I understand why her mother wanted nothing to do with her, but her trying to manipulate the dad and also saying he didn't raise her properly made me so angry. ****This character is tricky because he was explicitly raised as an orphan by his grandma, his father didn't sign his birth certificate (Korean equivalent of this), and he's registered as the child of his grandmother, not his actual mom. His grandma is dead by the beginning of the series and he is living alone without family, so I think he counts as an orphan.
Uncatagorized due to lack of clarity on parents: Soundtrack #1, Hospital Playlist, Happiness

Rewatching W: Two World
Ep 16, the final episode.
Yeon Joo puts the rings back on and chooses both Cheol and Sung Moon. She's just visit them in prison. Cheol knows this will not work. It is not a happy ending at all. Plus he's been sentenced to death. But Yeon Joo insists that it can work and at least they will all be together. I do think she knows deep down it's a bad solution. Cheol doesn't accept her answer but know they need to get out of there for now.
Cheol knows that things are going awry. He tells her that he loves her. He knows not doing so the first time hurt her. Whatever else happens, he wants her to hear from him that he loves her.
Cheol goes to rescue Do Yoon and gets him released, but because Han Cheol Ho is a variable, he cannot know that Han Cheol Ho will shoot him. Cheol Ho is desperate to find the other world. And offended that he is a mere antagonist and not the main character. Cheol is able to overpower him and escape,
I had tears when Cheol calls Yeon Joo from the bus stop barely conscious begging her to come. He needs to see her and he knows he does not have much time. He keeps calling to see where she is; he's holding on just for her. When she does get there, he "dies". Yeon Joo is not even able to go to him before she's sent back to the real world. TEARS.
My heart broke watching Yeon Joo grieve but what really got crying was her losing the ring. The rings are so important to both of them and for her not even to have that further destroys her. I cry more.
I want to give credit to Soo Bong, because while he's very high strung, he has also been rock solid to Yeon Joo. Same goes for Do Yoon with Cheol, though he's much calmer.
I love how we see that Cheol was right all along. Cheol's world is not a comic but another world entirely. The comic book and characters within it were just the connector between the two. I love that the comic ended with the death of the Han Cheol Ho and Sung Moo disappearing, because Sung Moo had merged with the Real Culprit. The Real Culprit helping with Cheol's happy ending is the opposite of his programing so it is edited it out.
I did love watching Sung Moo fix everything for Yeon Joo and Cheol. There's a shot from when Yeon Joo goes to Cheol there is a car stopped at the green light and I though why the heck is the car stopped at a stupid place. Then we see it was actually Sung Moo saying goodbye to Yeon Joo while disappearing and that really broke me for some reason. Sung Moo is not a great person, but alcoholism is an awful addiction. But even I don't think he deserved what happened to him and the destruction of his mind.
When Cheol wakes up and find out that Yeon Joo gone, he knows it has ended. But I love that he sill carried out his sentence (which was reduced because he was cleared of the worst charges) to ensure that it really, truly ended properly.
The letter that Sung Moo left Cheol was so good. Because he finally, fully accepts Cheol as human. Cheol became human; Sung Moo a comic character. They are essentially swapping places. Sung Moo tells him to go to the real world. He has broken his precondition. He tells him to take care of Yeon Joo and make her happy and be happy with her. Sung Moo trusts him to do that. Given how ugly he was to Cheol in that earlier confrontation, this is a huge change and acceptance. Cheol may not remember it but he did read about it. It means so much that he has Sung Moo's blessing.
Yeon Joo's grief is so overwhelming. She goes back the bus stop again and again, until she finally passes out in the pouring not seeing that Cheol was there.
She wakes up in the hospital. The first thing she sees is the ring. She turns to see him lying beside her. It's such a quiet moment of reunion that is exactly right. Cheol just softly explaining what's going on, Yeon Joo just looking at him and then placing her had gently on her his face while a single tear falls. It's hugely emotional and make more so by how restrained it is. She only loses it when he tell her about her dad, and I am happy that he told her the truth instead of Sung Moo's version.
I love their ending at the ocean. It's again such a quiet, peaceful moment. Cheol teasing her about calling him Oppa, and reassuring her that it was really over. Like Cheol's voice over says, without the threat of life or death hanging constantly over them, they can just be. They are an ordinary couple that they may be seem boring but will hopefully have a long and happy life together.
There's been rumours of a US remake since the show aired. The last one I heard about was be developed by the CW. And I know there is a cdrama remake and to both I'm just:
Tumblr media
I want to thank @dangermousie for bringing up the drama and for getting me to rewatch with her. I was a little worried at first that it wouldn't hold up but it absolutely does and in some ways it is better the second time through. I can't think of many dramas I'd be able to write this much about on a rewatch.

Just got the sudden urge to talk about this, cause I think we're not talking about it enough.
Han Ho-yeol really wasn't cut out for the military. He was a soft hearted guy, who tried his best to fit in with the other's, found sneaky ways to survive the craziness. Hell, he even full-on acted when he had to be tough. His little embodiments throughout the show are awesome, but also tell us a lot about Ho-yeol. He isn't tough, but that other person he impersonates is. I bet that he did the embodiment thing before entering the barracks to talk back at Jang-soo with ease.
In season 2 their MP Commander Yang Du-Gwan basically tells Ho-yeol his whole career is a pile of shit, meaning he probably spent a lot of time in the hospital for various things. What we know for certain is of three incidents:
1. after he got stabbed. (still as a Private)
2. his breathing problems before he comes back and meets Jun-ho. (had been a Corporal before that already)
3. after Suk-bong's attempted suicide. (Guess that experience was rewarded with the Sergeant rank or whatever)
We don't know exactly how long he stayed each time, but the last one was apparently 3 months- according to the MP Commander- maybe four when he actually got back into the field.
My best guess when Ho-yeol described it to Jun-ho in season 1 regarding the second hospital stay "I had trouble breathing, but they didn't find anything and wouldn't let me go to a hospital outside" is that he had panic attacks. Probably so severe that people didn't associate it with that and really assumed it was something physical.
I think those panic attacks probably go back to the first stay, due to the stab wound Nina gave him. I can only assume how afraid he must've been and frustrated that his teammate Park Sung-woo was more interested into partying than actually working with him side by side. There was no feeling of safety, or like someone had his back. The possibility of deserters getting violent had always been high, but after the attack it was a lot more palpable to him. So I wouldn't be surprised that some tight spots working a case just triggered a panic attack and thus eventually led him to the hospital.
Then we got the third incident where he went fully mute due to PTSD. He might've also been afraid to say something, knowing he would have to go back and possibly witnessing/living through more traumatizing stuff than he already had. Or maybe the muteism stemmed from the idea that his words don't change anything anyways, like with Suk-bong. He had tried so hard to talk the guy off his murder-suicide path and was met with disbelief and then the suicide was still attempted right in front of his eyes.
And I know what you might think, Ho-yeol was doing fine when he was at Jun-ho's side and yeah. That's a big point. Remember how Ho-yeol congratulated Jun-ho for beating up Park Sung-woo? He knew exactly why Jun-ho had done it and he also was immediately reassured that he'd be safe with that new fresh faced Private. Someone who could beat up a dude like Sung-woo? And who had to be pried off of him by multiple people? Someone who had been THAT mad about neglecting his duty as a DP and endangering a deserter? Yeah, Ho-yeol would not have to be afraid of deserters attacking him, he could finally breathe knowing he wouldn't be harmed. His anxiety wasn't gone, but he could cope better, since he didn't have to assume each encounter with a deserter would mean physical harm.
And look, season 2 Jun-ho made it even clearer that no one was gonna touch our sweetheart while he was around. So I guess Ho-yeol's faith in Jun-ho was valid.

At time of posting 14 Sep 6pm KST: 47K views, 271 comments (Will only translate comments relating to YoonA)
2. Look at YoonA’s latest projects line-up, everything is going well for her ㅋㅋㅋ 7. All are doing really wellㅋㅋ 8. I thought YoonA wasn’t good at acting when she was Saebyuk (in her first lead drama ‘You Are My Destiny’) but these days her acting is really good. Not just as an acting idol, but she's just good at it (acting). I thought IU was good since the drama ‘Pretty Man’ that starred Jang Geunsuk, and for Suzy, Anna, is the best... 9. I watched YoonA well in ‘King The Land’ ㅋㅋ She was a perfect fit ㅋㅋ 11. What? These are all the people I like!!!!! Everyone is pretty and their acting is great. By the way, Yoona's recent works are crazy, they're all successful 12. YoonA was so cute in ‘King The Land’ and her acting is so good ㅋㅋㅋㅋ 13. I watched all three of YoonA's latest projects. They were all good. So good. She is soaring especially in ‘King The Land’. 15. YoonA is also good at acting and is building up her filmography well. 16. Wow, just look at YoonA’s recent works ㅋㅋ 17. YoonA is really good at comical acting
19. YoonA, you acted so well, so natural ㅋㅋㅋ I'm looking forward to your next work. 20. I’m convinced (I agree) ㅋㅋㅋㅋEveryone's acting is good, and YoonA's batting score (percentage of her success rate) is especially good lately. 22. Wow, it looks like there aren't any (i)dols to remove (meaning OP agrees with all on the list). But it is surprising that Jung Eunji and Sooyoung aren't here.. I guess it's because there are a lot of female idols who are good at acting. 26. YoonA acted so well in ‘King the Land’ㅋㅋㅋ 27. Wow, 1st place for both men and women are ‘King The Land’ male and female leads ㅋㅋㅋ 28. It's freaking that both YoonA’s dramas and movies did well. The line-up of her recent works is insane ㅋㅋㅋ 30. YoonA’s latest works line-up are insaneㅋㅋㅋㅋㅋ 31. Yoona’s career is insaneㅋㅋ 32. It’s the same with male idol rankings, the 1st, 2nd, and 3rd places are the ones that always come up when acting idols are mentioned ㅇㅇ 33. YoonA's works line-up is insane 34. I really enjoyed watching Yoong’s ‘King The Land’, it’s my life drama ㅠ 35. Only the people who should have been chosen were chosen. 36. Nodding (in approval) ㅋㅋ 39. Oh, there are all these people who I thought they were good 40. They all act well... 41. Agreed 42. They are all good at acting and pretty 44. Her latest work ‘King The Land’, ‘Big Mouth’, ‘Confidential Assignment’ shivering (because of the awesome line-up) 45. YoonA's acting was really good in ‘King The Land’. She was just like Cheon Sarang herself👍 47. It feels like the differences in acting skills among the actresses aren't that big. The 5 people seem to be famous enough to be in the top 5 in terms of influence and reputation. 48. Do well, everyone 49. YoonA is really good 50. I acknowledged 51. They are all well-known faces. 52. I saw YoonA for the first time through ‘King The Land’ and she was really good. 57. YoonA was really good in ‘King The Land’. 63. I clicked in the article shouting ‘YoonA’ 65. Lim Yoona's latest work is insane...;; 68. These are all people I like 69. The votes are more evenly distributed here, so the difference in votes is not that big... The male idols were overwhelming. 71. I came in thinking YoonA would be here, but she ended up in first place ㅋㅋㅋ. 72. (Comment deleted at time of translation) 74. YoonA's acting in ‘The K2’, IU’s in ‘My Mister’, and Suzy's in ‘Anna’ were really, really good. I'm curious about the acting of this three people in their 30s, 40s, and 50s. 76. But this was released yesterday morning and suddenly both articles (male and female) came out as ‘hot’ topics. 79. To be honest, I was sad because I thought YoonA's (drama) filmography was bad, but these days, everything is really good.. And the movie filmography is good too. 80. I acknowledge everyone in this article, but it's a shame that Jung Eunji, Han Sunhwa and Sooyoung weren’t included. I really enjoyed Sooyoung's ‘Not Others’. 85. YoonA seems to choose her works well. 88. (Comment deleted at time of translation)
90. Lim Yoona’s form is crazy!!!!!!! 92. (replied to 69th comment) Oh, it looks like they got votes from all over. Female acting idols are also good at acting. 94. Oh, they are all good actors ㅋㅋㅋI also liked Jung Eunji, Sooyoung and Sojin ㅋㅋ 100. YoonA, IU and Suzy's singing and acting careers are all top notch 101. I acknowledged all of them 105. I thought about Bona, but the acting idols in the article are all very good 106. I also thought about YoonA's ‘EXIT’, but it is not her most recent work. 107. I enjoyed everything YoonA has released recently. 108. I came in the article thinking of YoonA. 109. YoonA❤️ I like her very much 112. King-jeong (t/l note: It is a slang to of 킹 (king)+ 인정 (agreed), to describe being full agreement of something) 113. I approved 115. YoonA’s recent career seems really good 117. Approved approved. 119. YoonA and IU, king-jeong. I want to watch Suzy’s drama, why isn’t it coming out yet? 120. We selected the acting idols who showed the greatest success this year and who we are looking forward to in the future. ----------------------- This is the survey topic. 121. I think YoonA’s career is so good 122. I heard about ‘King The Land’ being a huge hit on Netflix and ‘Big Mouth’ also did well, hence it is a back-to-back hit. 125. I acknowledged it 127. (replied to 120th comment) It is in the text ㅋㅋ 128. As expected, YoonA! 129. Ah, YoonA’s acting is good. 130. I acknowledge all of them 131. Approved 132. Ah, I approved of everyone listed here 133. YoonA is good 134. YoonA seems to be in good form these days. Personally, I think Suzy’s ‘Anna’ was the best ever, so I hope Suzy do another such genreㅠㅠ 135. Good 136. Approved 137. I acknowledged everyone listed here, there are people who I am disappointed that they are not on the list, but there is also no one in the list that I objected too. 138. YoonA’s filmography is good. All her works are very good, and she acts very well too. 140. Everyone's form is good, but the acting skills of the female idols are ambiguous. 141. I like YoonA so much 143. (Replied to 140th comment) What?;; As expected, all the malicious commenters are like sh*t. All the 5 females here have a besting acting of their life for at least once, so what are you talking about? 144. Yes 147. IU and Nana are good. No, all the 5 people listed here are goodㅋㅋㅋ 148. For the female acting idols, the votes are considered more evenly distributed. 149. (Replied to 140th comment) ? 152. I’m looking forward to YoonA’s movies and dramas doing well. I’m also curious about the ‘2 O’clock Date’! 153. I agreed with all listed in the article, Nana’s acting is really good. 156. I like Lim YoonA to the point of dying ㅠㅠㅠㅠㅠ 157. King-jeong 158. YoonA is good. I thought her acting was good after watching her works recently 160. YoonA is so likeable these days. I've seen all of her recent works. Now, she is a ‘trust and treasure’ actress.
161. Wow, all of them are K-pop talent. 163.The 1st place for both male and female are Junho and YoonA, ‘King The Land’ couple is really good ㅠㅠ I hope they both do better. The chemistry was good, and their acting was good in ‘King The Land’ 167. King-jeong to all on the list
168. Wow, 1st place is YoonA, congrats congrats!! 169. The movies and dramas YoonA starred in, all received great success, so amazing 171. I clicked in the article shouting YoonA ㅋㅋㅋㅋI hope things go smoothly~ 175. YoonA deserves the 1st place. Her drama and movie careers are all good. 176. Regardless of her career, Yoona really showed off her acting chops with her ‘Confidential Assignment’ and ‘EXIT’, and she did well in King the Land as well. Nana and Kim Sejeong are rather unexpected, and I think Han Sunhwa or Jung Eunji are better. 178. All of them have improved a lot in their acting so it’s even better 180. I feel like all the idols mentioned in the original text and Sooyoung and Eunji are good at acting. 185. YoonA 189. YoonA has a good way of choosing projects ㅋㅋㅋㅋ 191. These are the actors who were active 'this year', but it seems like it includes only those who can be included... YoonA did well in ‘King The Land, and IU and Suzy are the queens of immense popularity who respond right away in surveys like this even if they didn't have any hit films or activities this year. (Just like stars who are ranked even if they are inactive that year when Gallup selects the best OO of the year...) Nana becomes popular because of ‘Mask Girl’ recently. 193. YoonA! 194. Even though Nana is really good, I recognize all 5 people there. 196. (Comment deleted at time of translation) 197. YoonA was such a perfect fit for ‘King The Land’ this time, so pretty 198. I'm waiting for YoonA's next work 200. YoonA! 201. Acknowledged acknowledged 204. I agreed with all the line-up here 205. Waiting for YoonA's next work 208. Line-up approved... 209. No, initially I thought how could Sejeong be in 5th place only, but as I scrolled lower (to reveal the top 4), the more I understood. 212. I only saw YoonA's works for a few seconds in passing, so I had the prejudice that I couldn't get into the character because I heard YoonA's voice that I used to hear.. I recently watched Exit belatedly and was so surprised that it turns out okay. I finally understand why her movies are so successful and how she gets casted so consistently. 214. YoonA is good! Han Sunhwa too!! 215. YoonA is really good 216. Even though I’m not a fan of all five of them, I acknowledged. 217. Oh.. everyone who are good are gathered here 218. Soshi is YoonA, but I was also surprised that Sooyoung was better at acting than I thoughtㅋㅋ 219. ‘King The Land’ influence is huge. Both sides (male and female) came in first place 220. YoonA is really good ㅋㅋㅋㅋ I watched ‘Big Mouth’ and ‘King The Land’ recently, and she did well in both dramas. YoonA would be a perfect match for a little bit of ‘Big Mouth’ – ‘King the Land’ – ‘EXIT’, a bright, cheerful, confident and u undaunted not in a villain way character 221. The experts voted but there are people here trying to start a fight so ridiculousㅋ What is it? 224. They are all good 225. YoonA’s latest line-up projects are really awesome ㅋㅋㅋㅋ
226, Everyone are gathered here, they are all good 227. Oh, YoonA approved 229. Really, YoonA is really good. I think she has star quality, good screen control, and acting skills. 231. If its YoonA, its king-jeong. 232. YoonA is building up her filmography for movies and dramas well. Her acting in ‘Confidential Assignment’, ‘Big Mouth’, ‘King the Land’ were really good. Mouse (2021) Ep. 20 Recap
Tumblr media
Ba-Reum decides to turn himself in and complete a final mission that only he can do. Hong-Joo reveals her long-held secret on her last show with Hee-Jin, a woman who was actually a secret agent working for Choi Young-Shin in a large private organization.
If you want to watch the series for yourself, stop reading! This post contains spoilers to the storyline.
Episode 20 is the longest chapter of the series, lasting 1 hour and 40 minutes. It is essentially a film, but it appears that we are on track to receive some substantial answers.
Ba-Reum confronts Choi Young-Shin in her apartment. She mentions the rejected abortion bill, which started her crusade. She convinced Daniel Lee to use the fetuses as evidence to prove the psychopath gene. The Soo-Ho situation was a mistake that completely destroyed the man. He never intended to go that far and was wracked with guilt over what happened. Ba-Reum's actions caught her off-guard. However, she continued to monitor him through the OZ organization. She realized that it would be easier to pass the bill if he accumulated more deaths. Choir admits that she is a scientist with the ultimate goal of creating a utopian world free of psychopaths, which she refers to as the "Land of OZ". Ba-Reum having heard enough, holds a gun to her head. She demands that he fire, stating that those with the psychopath gene deserve to be killed.
Meanwhile, Moo-Chi arrives at the house and finds Choi tied up and alive in the closet. Ba-Reum decides against killing her and leaves. The police will arrive and take her away with this information. Moo-Chi listens to his voicemail and hears Bong-Yi heading off on the hunt while Ba-Reum is still on the run.
Ms. Kim took Bong-Yi to keep her safe in case OZ kidnapped her. Ba-Reum shows up in the rain, and they come face to face. Bong-Yi swings a knife frantically, trying to kill the murderer. Ba-Reum sidesteps her and drops to his knees, pleading with her to allow him to hand himself in and justice to be served. Bong-Yi almost pierces Ba-Reum's face, but she remembers that he killed Deok-Soo for her and stops. She drops the pole and walks away, leaving Ba-Reum to live his life in regret. Eventually, Ba-Reum turns himself in to the police.
The crowd is enraged and bloodthirsty as they watch him head into the station, crying out in agony. Hong-Joo worked with Daniel Lee after finding him in Yo-Han's basement. Daniel Lee is brought in for questioning, but he remains silent at first. He convinces Yo-Han's mother to visit Ba-Reum, who happens to be her biological son. She confesses that they switched babies. She reveals this to Ba-Reum. Sung Ji-Eun was convinced that her son was responsible for what Soo-Ho did to Jae-Hoon's family, which prompted her to search for him. His "aunt" found him first and changed his ID and name. She searched everywhere for Ba-Reum but failed. The serial killings badly affected her, and she instinctively knew he was responsible.
After the surgery, she realized he was different and couldn't bring herself to kill him. She is clearly grieving, and Seo-Joon's mocking comments about having a child only make it worse. He calls the child a mini "Head Hunter".
Moo-Chi returns to the prison and confronts the Head Hunter, discovering the truth about Ba-Reum's lineage. He calls the man dumb and mentions Choi Young-Shin, wiping the smile off the Head Hunter's face as he curses the scientist. In subsequent flashbacks, we learn that Yo-Han conducted a DNA test and discovered his true identity. He did not kill Ji-Eun but did knock her out long enough to escape and find Ba-Reum. In the present, Ji-Eun refers to Yo-Han as her son while looking out at the sea.
The situation becomes desperate when Ba-Reum's aunt goes missing, as she has crucial evidence linked to what happened with Ba-Reum. He implores Goo-Reum to do his best to find her.
Detective Lee Min-So is also missing. The group has a difficult 48-hour window before Choi is free to go, now that she has been arrested. The window has been moved up to the present moment. Choi's arrest warrant was rejected, and she is now free to go. Hong-Joo quickly exposes Choi Young-Shin an the OZ organization with damning evidence during her show. Daniel Lee testifies, an Ms. Kim also appears. Lee Min-So managed to keep her safe from Choi's goons. Ba-Reum confesses, and Sherlock Hong-Joo blows the case wide open with photos of victims and audio evidence of Choi incriminating herself and claiming the number of victims isn't enough. This is sufficient for her to be arrested and face her crimes.
Yo-Han, on the other hand, is completely cleared of any charges due to several confession from the victims and a video of him sobbing. Since psychopaths do not display this type of emotion in private, it is enough for him to be let off the hook. Hong-Joo confesses to working with Daniel Lee to have Ba-Reum kill Deok-Soo and admits to killing someone 26 years ago when she was a child and led Soo-Jung out to a car. Duk-Seok arrests Hong-Joo symbolically, and she apologizes for her involvement before being taken away in handcuffs. OZ organization will be thoroughly investigated and taken down for prioritizing personal greed over the well-being of the people. Ba-Reum's court case has resulted in a unanimous decision for him to spend the rest of his life in isolation, with execution scheduled for an unspecified time in the future.
Six months later, Ba-Reum is led out through the yard, and the Head Hunter notices a change in his eyes. Ba-Reum appears cold and heartless, showing no remorse for his actions. He comes face to face with his father, who claims they have superior genes and tells Ba-Reum to maintain the look in his eye. As his father steps forward for a hug, Ba-Reum repeatedly stabs him with a knife, letting the man bleed out on the floor. Moo-Chi had planned all along to enter and eliminate the Head Hunter. He convinced Dong-Goo to allow him entry. Symbolically, he cuts off the Head Hunter's head, which is what he had threatened to do earlier. Moo-Chi hears the news that Ba-Reum is in critical condition and could die soon. Du-Seok convinces him to visit Ba-Reum before he dies.
Ba-Reum apologizes and shows emotion in his eyes. Moo-Chi criticizes the boy, expressing his unforgiving attitude towards him. Moo-Chi advises him to assist the victims' families and Ba-Reum tearfully admits missing Bong-Yi. The girl, burning with anger, demands that he suffer the worst fate imaginable. Ba-Reum tells Bong-Yi that he hopes to be born as an ordinary human being in his next life.
Interestingly, he finds himself back in a church, a throwback to his moments as Jae-Hoon when he prayed that he was not a monster. Symbolically, he sits with his younger self and tells him that he is no longer a monster. This eventually serves as the end of Ba-Reum, who dies in extreme pain and misery for his sins.
Three years later, despite protests from the people, Choi is granted a pardon from prison. The Blue House apparently did this as a way of granting a union in the future. However, when she arrives at the parking garage, the driver stops the car and brandishes a knife. Meanwhile, Hong-Joo and Moo-Chi sit together and apologize to one another. Moo-Chi eventually returns to the prison to say his final goodbyes, visiting Ba-Reum's gravestone.

Moving (2023)
Tumblr media
Take seven episodes of Korean X-Men fanfic, add four episodes of spy stuff, a pinch of Korean gangster nonsense, mix well, and you have recipe for a pretty good superhero show.
The final three episodes of janky CGI fight scenes let me down at the end, though.
What Worked
The high school story that made up the first half of the show was delightful. Just a fun mix of YA tropes and the good kind of mutant superhero nonsense. I also liked the whole secret agent assassin thing playing out in the background as well.
And every single character actor was fun and interesting, this was a show that made sure to treat its secondary characters well.
What Didn't Work
And then the secret agent nonsense started taking over the entire show, and the plot got pushed to the side in favor of five episodes of backstory for every single grownup on the show, and then it got frustrating. I still liked alot of it, especially the meet cute between Bong-soek's parents, but we needed half as many episodes of it.
Also, that gang war plotline was just completely drawn out and gory and unnecessary. It made me dislike Hui-soo's father quite a bit. At least the past version of him.
The show's worst fault, though, was that dang three episode long fight sequence at the end (intercut with backstories on every single person in the fight). This series only had about 12-14 episodes worth of story, and they squeezed out 20 of them.
The series just gradually gets worse after episode seven, to the point where I was skipping scenes by episode 10, and even most of episodes 13-14. It's a case of not enough story and also too much backstory. That kind of thing works better in comics and/or webtoons, but does not work for a TV show.
The Performances
There's too many characters here to cover all of them, but they did a good job of making them (mostly) interesting.
Han Hyo-joo as ("secret agent mom") Lee Mi-hyun. I loved her. The character was well written and the superhero abilities were at the level where they could do creative and interesting things with Mi-hyun. Han Hyo-joo gave a good performance, but she was given a darn good character to play.
Ryoo Seung-bum as ("super hero assassin") Frank. Another interesting character played very well. He somehow managed to feel dangerous even when his only real superpower was not dying. The action scenes with him just worked, which made the big janky stuff at the end of the series look even worse.
Lee Jung-ha as ("super hero / boy next door") Kim Bong-seok. For this series to work, you had to really like this kid, and the actor did a good job making me cheer for him. Which made all the episodes where he was missing harder to get through.
Youn-jung as ("strong girl") Jang Hui-soo. Another likeable actor with a great character. It's too bad they kind of pushed her to the side in the final episodes. And it wasn't a knock on the actor. Her character arc just finished early and then they made 6 more episodes and the writers didn't really give her anything. The bullying stuff she had to deal with at the beginning of the series was gripping to watch.
Zo In-sung as ("the amazing, flying") Kim Doo-sik. All of the scenes he played opposite Han Hyo-joo were great. The rest of his backstory was pretty good, but a little uneven.
Ryu Seung-ryong as ("human punching bag") Jang Ju-won. I liked all the stuff he did in the early episodes, and I disliked most of what he did during and after his backstory arc. His stuff with Hui-soo's mom was okay in execution though a little unoriginal.
Kwak Sun-young as ("Hui-soo's mom") Hwang Ji-hee. I've seen this actor before (notably in Hospital Playlist) and she did a good job here, especially some of the early romance arc with Jang Ju-won. But the plot itself was cliche, and they just kind of killed her off to make people sad rather than having it make too much sense. (Was the NIS behind it, or not? Does that really change anything?).
The Lightning Man / Bus Driver. Some of this was engaging in that "everyone has a story" kind of thing, but that guy should have been fired the first time he hijacked the bus to go on a rogue mission. For every cool thing they let him do, we had to slog through 4-5 uncool / depressing things, which is not a good ratio.
The High School Kids. They were mostly okay, though there was really no reason for the future youtuber and the grumpy bully to be hanging around those last few episodes. And they built up Class President kid in the start only to just have him be mostly useless. Even his dad's backstory was completely superfluous to the plot.
The High School Teachers. They should have just made them all straight up villains. It was kind of okay to make the one teacher somewhat redeemable, but we really didn't need as much of his story as we got. And what was up with that security guard?
The Gangster Crew. No thank you. Did not like. Completely useless and a little depressing, especially for all the episodes we got of them.
The South Korean Spy People. They were all pretty hate-able, and meant to be hate-able. There was some good material but they drew this whole plotline out so much that I stopped caring about them.
The North Korean Spy People. The writers did a good job of making them both creepy villains and somewhat sympathetic as well. But we got way too much backstory for what ended up being very little payoff.
TL; DR:
This is not a bad series overall, but if you feel like skipping episodes, or just leaving after episode 7, that's okay. If you go into the show expecting a webtoon / comic type story, and you actually liked that kind of thing, then you should be in good shape to finish it.

Moving.
I would recommend this drama to my friends. I would rewatch this drama.
Han Hyo Joo with this look is new and a diff vibe. The vibe of Bong Seok is like the vibe of the protagonist in Extracurricular. My god at finding out that Jihee is Hospital Playlist's Iksun.
Can you imagine if Han Hyo Joo and Jo In Sung were your parents? If this ain't a romance drama, I don't know what is. Han Byul, stop screaming my god. Can't believe Ki Soo is helping the girl.
Bong Seok is so cute. Why can't more guys me like him? So cute and funny when Bong Seok is telling Hui Soo to hold onto him and also let go. Bongseok's mom helping him with his love life is so cute. Mi Hyun and Doo Sik's whole courtship is so cute. Doosik fighting all speedy is hot too. Ganghoon as a child and his relationship with his father at the time is so cute. I love so many of the characters, but my fav is def Mi Hyun. Everything she does as a mother and at the showdown at school, is sooo cooool. I love Gyedo's bus co-worker who really just watches out for the guy. The social issues we're exploring in this drama, bravo. I'm so glad that Hui Soo likes Bong Seok. I love how relevant Gyedo is despite being the least relevant. Like everyone's backstory connected so perfectly, and his kinda does, but not really, but he's still crew.
The gun hair salon lady, Naju, is baller. The handcuff cheek piercing is baller. Ju Won is soooo baller. It freaks me out the kinda injuries he's taking, but like why is he so cool and hot?
The tracker's nose habit is so irritating.

HWARANG : THE POET WARRIOR YOUTH //  KDRAMA DİZİ YORUMU
UYARI : Yazılar genel olarak spoiler içerebilir. İçermeyedebilir.
İmdb puanı: 8 Benim puanım: 9
Drama: Hwarang / Hwarang: The Poet Warrior Youth
Hangul:
Director: Yun Seong-Sik
Writer: Park Eun-Young
Date: 2017
Language: Korean
Country: South Korea
Cast: Park Seo-Joon, Go Ara, Park Hyung-Sik, Do Ji-Han, Seo Yea-Ji, Kim Tae-Hyung, Kim Won-Hae, Yoo Jae-Myung, Minho, Jo Yoon-Woo, Sung Dong-Il
Park Hyung-Sik’i nasıl da özlemişim. “Strong girl Do Bong Soon” dizisinin Min-Min’iydi benim için.
Ban Ryu Rang (Do Ji-Han); Kraliçenin düşman ailelerinden birinin oğludur.
Aile ismi nedeni ile istemeden Hwarang’a katılmak zorunda kalmıştır.

Rewatching W: Two Worlds
Ep 14 is a doozy.
It is so devastating to see Sung Moo and Cheol hearing that there was no hope for Yeon Joo.
When Cheol appears again, he has to tell Sung Moo what happened to Yeon Joo and it is absolutely heartbreaking. I love how Cheol was still aware enough to know that the real world means permanence so that was he took her to the comic world. He did everything he could, and stayed by her side. She only woke once.
It was so difficult for Cheol to get the words out that she died. He is grieving hard, and finding out that Yeon Joo died is too much for Sung Moo.
We come to what are my favourite set of scenes in the whole show. Cheol saves Sung Moo from jumping off the roof of the hospital. We learn that not only is Sung Moo grieving for Yeon Joo, but he feels guilty. He says that he was the one who shot her. But Cheol firmly tells him that it was the Real Culprit who shot Yeon Joo. He's not just saying it either but because it is the truth. They may be linked, but they are not the same. Sung Moo would never shoot Yeon Joo.
Cheol is smart, so he has figured out that Yeon Joo can saved just as he was. Yeon Joo partially became a comic character, which is why she can be hurt in the comic but also why he brought her there. She's a character in that world so she can also be saved the same way he was. He just needs Sung Moo to do it.
Now we get to my absolute favourite scene in the show, when Cheol explains to Sung Moo just exactly what Yeon Joo means to him. He hasn't even told this to Yeon Joo. Yeon Joo is his family, one that he chose. It's his first fully free will choice that he has made. Even though he does not remember her before the memory wipe, they have still made memories that are real. They have substance and meaning. Through Yeon Joo, he has made the determination that he is human. And because Yeon Joo fought for him, he will do the same for her. He will not give up, and they will have their happy ending. She is the one he loves, and she is family.
I also love that he has extended his family to include Sung Moo. Sung Moo is part of Yeon Joo's family therefore he is part of Cheol's. After all their animosity and attempts to kill one another, Cheol considers him family.
I had forgotten that Cheol figured out the Real Culprit had Sung Moo draw a duplicate of the tablet. I also forgot that it came into the Han Cheol Ho's hands.
Cheol was not expecting the be taken by the Han Cheol Ho, but he adapts quickly. It was so hard to see him get bloodied. He endures the torture and says nothing until he absolutely needs to because getting the tablet to Sung Moo is key. He told Soo Bong that he might call him for an SOS.
I will say that once Cheol begins to tell the Han Cheol Ho the truth and is asked "what kind of manhwa lies are this", Cheol's smile is demented. He explains more, but just enough to ensure that Han Choe will go to the hospital. He speaks directly to Soo Bong and tells him that the tablet is on the way knowing that it would be updated in the comic. He waits, and gives enough time for the assemblyman to get to the hospital. Only then does he return to the real world and then summon Han Cheol Ho to the real world. Who of course is carting the tablet with him everywhere since he knows some of what it can do.
Sung Moo and Soo Bong get the tablet and I so happy that the assemblyman was beaned in the process. Sung Moo's hand is beginning to disappear, so he has also become partially a comic charcter.
Yeon Joo is saved, but Cheol does not know this. Only at the very end is she brought to the comic world. Except this time it is the final episode, which mean the narrative/comic has decided that the story is just about run its course.
