You may have also tried ways to stop it and, for whatever reason, had very little luck. One way that you can help your binge eating is to choose healthier foods. Here are three quick ways to put a kink in your binge eating habits. 1) Find Healthy Replacements; such as Greek yogurt instead of ice cream. Roasted nuts instead of a candy bar. Fruit Juice Instead Of Soft Drinks. 2) Purge your kitchen of junk food. Get rid of the cookies, candies, cakes, pastas, ice creams, and other unhealthy foods. Get rid of processed foods that can have an abundance of sodium or sugar. Replace the junk food with healthy options. 3) Choose Busy Foods. Busy foods are the foods that are healthy, but require more time to chew and digest than other foods. Examples are carrot sticks, cherry tomatoes, nuts, and popcorn (instead of potato chips). EATING DISORDER⁣ 💜 ⁣ ✖️ trigger warning ✖️⁣ ⁣ One of the BEST parts about overcoming an eating disorder is being able to go out and eat. ⁣ ⁣ For years I wished I could enjoy giants bowls of pasta like this. ⁣ ⁣ I avoided parties, events, dinners and would cook all of my food for the week on a Sunday and didn’t eat a thing that wasn’t on my meal plan. My meal plan was under 1,000 calories a day, nowhere near enough food. It’s a miserable life and I’m so glad I did the work to overcome my eating disorder. ⁣ ⁣ Some of the other amazing parts about recovery:⁣ ⁣ - The glow in your face⁣ - The bounce in your hair ⁣ - Going out for the day without Tupperware boxed up meals and instead stopping when you see something that looks yum⁣ - Putting on workout clothes but deciding to go for a walk instead ⁣ - Saying YES when your wife pours potato chips on your plate after you’ve just eaten a meal (this happened today).⁣ ⁣ It’s the big things and the small things. ⁣ ⁣ I know the holidays can be a really hard time when it comes to recovery and I’m here to remind you that you are not alone 💛⁣ ⁣ What are some ideas you have this holiday season to take care of yourself? It is proven that affirmations help to reprogram your mind. When you repeat an affirmation, over and over, your subconscious picks up on it; and sees it as the present reality. Does this mean that you have the ability to completely. turn your life around? In one word. yes. As all binge eaters know. it is not about being hungry, and wanting food. No, you eat because you are numbing your feelings or because you are stressed. What if you start to affirm that you are capable of handling those difficult feelings that cause you to binge? Or that you can relax instead of being stressed. which also causes binge eating. Your mind might just start to believe what you are saying. and this will make the bingeing slow down. Of course. it will not go away overnight. but it will cause you to become more aware of what you say, and what you think. It will cause you to really think about the type of food you are feeding your soul. When your thoughts on bingeing, and how you feel about your self, start to improve, your life will follow in the same direction. The new love and respect, that you have for your body and yourself. will guide you away from any binges. You learn to replace your negative feelings with positive ones. Ultimately. this leads to changing your food habits. and getting rid of Binge Eating in your life. . Even far down the road from now when you've been fully recovered for years You'll still have to be mindful of the person you used to be. There will still be little things that you'll have to do To protect the newer version of yourself from slipping back into old ways. Just as someone who has an allergy or food intolerance makes sure not to eat or come in contact with those things You must do your best to avoid situations that could awaken the nasty little voice that tries to draw you back to old habits Perhaps this is making sure to pack a snack when you know you'll be out for awhile Or maybe its making sure not to try on clothes you know are too small Or spending prolonged periods of time around people who only talk about dieting These things will be different for everyone And having to do them is not a consequence of having been sick...it's basic self-care.
