Betts WO HR Gets Sox Past Twins.
Twins 3 Red Sox 4 W-Thornburg (1-0) L-Belisle (1-1)
The Minnesota Twins traded away fan favorite and clubhouse favorite Eduardo Escobar this afternoon. The team responded in a big way at Fenway Park tonight with a good game in Boston. Lance Lynn and Chris Sale tossed zeroes for the first four and a half inning tonight. Eduardo Nunez started the first rally in the fifth with a lead-off double. Jackie Bradley Jr. then smoked a Lance Lynn offering out to left for a two-run blast. This put the Sox up 2-0 after five frames. Chris Sale tossed six shutout innings and the Red Sox went to their bullpen. The Twins would finally get to work against Ryan Brasier. Max Kepler led-off with a double and Robbie Grossman hit a grounder. Jake Cave reached on an error and Kepler scored to put the Twins on the board. Alex Cora would hand the ball off to Craig Kimbrel for a four-out save tonight. He got out of the eighth, but struggled in the ninth. Robbie Grossman started it with a one-out walk. Grossman reached second on a wild pitch and Jorge Polanco walked. Eddie Rosario then blasted a ball off the Green Monster for a two-run double and the Twins were up 3-2. Fernando Rodney came on and struggled again tonight. Rafael Devers led-off the ninth with a blast off a Rodney fastball The ball had just enough to leave the yard and the game was tied at three. The Twins didn’t score in the tenth and Matt Belisle came on to pitch. Mookie Betts smoked a Belisle fastball over the Green Monster. The ball left the yard for a walk-off homer and the Red Sox beat the Twins tonight at Fenway.
-Final Thoughts- Lance Lynn pitched a solid game tonight. He went six innings and allowed two runs on six hits with three strikeouts and a walk. Taylor Rogers fanned two in the seventh, Trevor Hildenberger had a 1-2-3 eighth, and Fernando Rodney blew the save in the ninth. Matt Belisle threw just two pitches and took the loss on the walk-off homer. Jorge Polanco and Eddie Rosario led the way with two hits. The team hit 2-for-8 with runners in scoring position and left nine men on base. The Twins traded Eduardo Escobar to the Arizona Diamondbacks for three A-Ball players. Miguel Sano was recalled to take his place. Eddie Rosario played third base in the last few innings and Logan Morrison played in left field. Tomorrow, Jake Odorizzi will face Rick Porcello in Game 3 from Fenway Park.

Minnesota Twins-Cleveland Indians Series Preview
9.26.17-Bartolo Colon RHP (4-6) 5.33 ERA Vs. Josh Tomlin RHP (9-9) 4.98 ERA
9.27.17-Adalberto Mejia LHP (4-6) 4.48 ERA Vs. Danny Salazar RHP (5-6) 4.48 ERA
9.28.17-Ervin Santana RHP (16-8) 3.36 ERA Vs. Carlos Carrasco RHP (17-6) 3.43 ERA
The Twins At A Glance- The Twins are in the drivers seat of the second American League Wild-Card spot. The Angels lost on Monday, so the Magic Number for the Twins is down to 2. Any combination of Twins wins and Angels losses would get that number down. Minnesota is coming off a four-game sweep of the lowly Detroit Tigers. They outscored Detroit 39-12 in the series. Now, the Twins head to Cleveland for an interesting series with the Indians. Joe Mauer has been hitting great in the month of September with a .367 average in the month. He also is hitting 10-for-30 on this road trip. Jorge Polanco has a seven-game hitting streak with a .407 average during that stretch. The Twins bullpen is well-rested for the last six games of the year. Matt Belisle, Trevor Hildenberger, and Taylor Rogers have pitched just twice on the road trip. It should be an all hands on deck final week for the bullpen with a wild-card spot on the line.
The Indians At A Glance- The Indians are one of the hottest teams in the history of baseball. The Tribe is (22-2) in the month of September (let that sink in). They had a 22-game winning streak, which is the most in American League history. Now, the Tribe is home after a west coast road trip. Since we last saw the Cleveland Indians on August 17th, Craig Breslow got called up, Jason Kipnis is off the disabled list, and Bradley Zimmer broke his left hand and is out for the season. Jason Kipnis is now playing center field in his absence. The Cleveland roster now sits at 38 players with 19 pitchers and 19 position players. That makes for lots of pitching changes with Terry Francona managing. Jose Ramirez is hitting .431 in the month of September and is a candidate for American League Most Valuable Player. Francisco Lindor has eight homers this month and smacked his 33rd on Sunday. The Indians bullpen is loaded. Cody Allen is back to closing and they have Andrew Miller, Bryan Shaw, Joe Smith, Dan Otero, and Zach McAllister to set him up.
What To Watch For- The Indians are (10-6) against the Twins in 2017. The Tribe is (9-1) at Target Field, while the Twins are (5-1) at Progressive Field. Bartolo Colon will get the start on Tuesday against the club he broke in against. He is (7-5) with a 3.90 ERA in 13 starts against the Tribe. Jay Bruce, Jason Kipnis, and Carlos Santana each have homered of him twice. Josh Tomlin is (5-6) with a 5.21 ERA in 17 games against the Twins. Eddie Rosario has two career homers off Tomlin. Adalberto Mejia has a 1.86 ERA in two starts versus Cleveland. Danny Salazar is (5-3) with a 4.10 ERA in 12 starts against Minnesota. Brian Dozier and Max Kepler have homered twice off Salazar. Ervin Santana is (7-11) with a 3.83 in 24 starts against the Indians. Santana has allowed one earned run in 19 innings against the Indians in 2017 though. Edwin Encarnacion has three homers off Santana. Carlos Carrasco is (4-6) with a 4.26 ERA versus the Twins. Brian Dozier has hit three homers off Carrasco. Max Kepler has six homers in 13 career games at Progressive Field. Carlos Santana has four career homers off Glen Perkins.

Sox Beat Up On Twins In Rainy Boston.
Twins 2 Red Sox 9 W-Pomeranz (7-4) L-Santiago (4-7)
It was a long, long night at Fenway Park for the Minnesota Twins. There were two lengthy rain delays and the team struggled when we did play baseball. A rain delay started the game and lasted for fifty minutes. When we started, the Red Sox wasted no time in getting a rally started tonight. Sam Travis led-off the second with a walk then Christian Vazquez smoked a Hector Santiago fastball over the Green Monster for a two-run shot. This put Boston up by two and after the second inning the rain fell. The second delay was over an hour long and we started up again. Dustin Pedroia and Xander Bogaerts started the third with singles and Jackie Bradley Jr. singled a run home. The fourth inning was no different as the Sox got two men in scoring position immediately. Mookie Betts hit a sacrifice fly to center and the Sox led by four. Later in the inning, Dustin Pedroia lined a run-scoring single to center, but was thrown out at second base. The Twins got going in the fifth inning. Jorge Polanco reached on an error by Deven Merrero and Eddie Rosario singled. Byron Buxton hit an RBI single to left and the Twins were on the board. Boston would get that run back in the bottom of the fifth as Xander Bogaerts singled and Chris Young walked. Jackie Bradley Jr. hit a ground ball double play ball that was booted and a run scored. Matt Belisle got out of the jam, but the ugliness continued to Minnesota. Dustin Pedroia lined a single with two outs in the sixth and Xander Bogaerts reached on an error by Eduardo Escobar. The next batter, Chris Young smoked a Matt Belisle slider over the Monster for a three-run shot and the Sox led 9-1. In the eighth, Eduardo Escobar drilled a Fernando Abad offering out to right for a solo blast. This cut the Twins deficit to seven, but it was no use. Abad finished off the last two frames and the Sox took the first two games at Fenway Park.
-Final Thoughts- Hector Santiago was okay in his two innings tonight. His pitch count was high, but his fastball gained a few more miles per hour. He went two frames and allowed two runs on one hit with two walks and two strikeouts. Alan Busenitz allowed an unearned run in one inning, Craig Breslow was charged with three runs in an inning, and Matt Belisle had three unearned runs in two innings. Trevor Hildenberger threw two more scoreless frames. He reminds me of Ryan O’Rourke with a unusual delivery. O’Rourke has done pretty good in two seasons before his Tommy John this year. After Hidenberger’s first pitch to Xander Bogaerts, Bogaerts looked to the dugout as if to say “I can pick this guy up.” That’s a pretty good compliment for a great hitter like Bogaerts. Eddie Rosario led the team with three hits. The club hit 2-for-6 with runners in scoring position and left six men on base. There might be a roster move before tomorrow’s game to get another arm up here. Tomorrow, Adalberto Mejia faces Rick Porcello in Game 3.

Ramirez Hits 2 HR’s In Tribe Win.
Indians 9 Twins 3 W-McAllister (1-0) L-Wilk (0-2)
“Let’s play two,” Ernie Banks once said and we did just that today at Target Field. The Cleveland Indians are starting to break out of their two and a half month funk and play better baseball. Jose Ramirez got the game started out right for the Tribe. He smoked an Adam Wilk fastball out to right for a solo shot and the Indians led by one. Edwin Encarnacion walked and Carlos Santana singled. Austin Jackson walked to load up the bases and Bradly Zimmer lined a two-run single to right. This put the Tribe up by three after an inning. Zimmer was at it again in the third. He lined a run-scoring double to right to score Edwin Encarnacion and extend the Cleveland lead to four. The Twins got on the board in the third. Ehire Adrianza singled and Brian Dozier hit an RBI single to center. This pulled the Twins within three, but they came roaring back. Erik Gonzalez singled to start the fourth and Jason Kipnis doubled. Jose Ramirez plated two with a double and the Tribe led 6-1. Ehire Adrianza clawed the Twins back with a two-run double in the fourth. It was no use as Jose Ramirez drilled an Alex Wimmers change-up out to right for a solo blast. It was his second of the day and put the Indians up 7-3. Bradley Zimmer hit an RBI groundout in the sixth and the Tribe got one more on a Jason Kipnis double in the ninth. Dan Otero threw a clean ninth and Cleveland took Game 1 of the doubleheader.
-Final Thoughts- Adam Wilk does not have a put-away pitch and it hurt him today. Marvin Hudson also seemed like his right hand was broken because he did not want to call strikes. Wilk lasted 3 1/3 innings and allowed six runs on eight hits with two strikeouts and three walks. Alex Wimmers allowed a run in 1 2/3 innings, Buddy Boshers gave up a run in two frames, and Matt Belisle had an unearned run in two innings. Eddie Rosario and Ehire Adrianza led the team with two hits on the day. The club hit 2-for-5 with runners in scoring position and left five men on base. In the nightcap, it will be Mike Clevinger against Adalberto Mejia.

Mauer’s WO HR Seals It For Twins!
Red Sox 3 Twins 4 W-Kintzler (1-0) L-Barnes (3-1)
The last time Matt Barnes was on the Target Field mound was last June when Max Kepler smoked a three-run walk-off home run in one of the best moments from the 2016 Twins season. Tonight, Barnes retook the mound and the Twins had a similar moment. A pitcher’s duel broke out at Target Field as Eduardo Rodriguez and Phil Hughes pitched well, but neither guy won. In the first, Joe Mauer was hit by a pitch and Miguel Sano hit a ball to right field. Everyone in the building thought the ball would slice foul, but it never did. The ball bounced off the wall for a triple and the Twins were up 1-0. The next batter, Robbie Grossman lined a run-scoring single to left and Minnesota had a two-run edge after an inning. In the third, Andrew Benintendi smoked a Phil Hughes fastball out to center for a solo shot. This pulled Boston within a run after three frames. After that, Phil Hughes threw 6 2/3 solid innings and gave up one run. The Twins got an insurance run in the seventh as Eddie Rosario led-off with a triple. Joe Mauer singled him home and the Twins led 3-1. Matt Belisle threw a clean eighth, but Brandon Kintzler struggled again in the ninth. Mitch Moreland blooped a single to right and Josh Rutledge reached on an infield single. Jackie Bradley Jr. was retired, but Chris Young smoked a ball down the left field line for a two-run single. This tied up the game and we headed into the bottom of the ninth. Matt Barnes retired the first two men, yet had to face Joe Mauer. Mauer drilled a Matt Barnes fastball out to left-center. The ball kept carrying into the bullpens for a walk-off home run. It was Mauer’s first ever walk-off home run and the Twins beat the Red Sox in Minneapolis.
-Final Thoughts- Phil Hughes pitched well tonight. He went 6 2/3 innings and allowed a run on six hits with two walks and four strikeouts. Taylor Rogers got the team off the field in the seventh, Matt Belisle had a perfect eighth, and Brandon Kintzler had his third straight poor outing. He was getting his sinker down and the first two guys hit the ball where the defense wasn’t. Young’s single was hit sharply to tie the game. Joe Mauer, Miguel Sano, and Eddie Rosario each led the team with two hits. The team hit 2-for-10 with runners in scoring position and left eight men on base. Brian Dozier rolled his ankle and stayed in for awhile, but a play in the ninth inning might have caused him to leave in the bottom of the inning. The Twins already have Byron Buxton day-to-day with headaches, so hopefully it’s only a rolled ankle for Dozier. Tomorrow, Nick Tepesch makes his Twins debut against Rick Porcello in a battle of two sinkerballers.
