Super 7 has turned four pre-code horror comic characters into ReAction Figures. Priced at $20, each 3.75”-scale retro-style toy has five points of articulation.
The line includes Baffling Mysteries' Seaweed Monster, Ghostly Weird Stories' Commander Ben Woodruff (with removable helmet), Black Cat Mystery's Radium Man (with radium stick), and Chilling Tales' Graveyard Ghoul. Check out the packaging below.

Baffling Mysteries #24 (January, 1955). Ace Magazines.  Cover artist believed to be Ken Price.
That time they got the origins of Thor and Captain America mixed up.
WARNING!  This scene appears nowhere in this issue!

Forty Days of Frankenstein, Day Five: Today’s image is another one from a one-page comic book story, this time from the pages of Baffling Mysteries #17, published in September of 1953.  And again, to me, it’s more about what the image represents rather than what it is.  In this story, an intrepid reporter, just after WW1, finds himself following the trail of a rumor about a German scientist, Baron von Zeiss “who was on the verge of creating a giant monster before the war’s end.”  So the reporter makes his way to “a castle hidden in the crags of the Black Mountains of Bavaria,” because, of course, if you’re a scientist creating a giant monster, where else are you going to do it?  And of course, there’s a lab, and, also of course, when the reporter arrives the monster is on the table (though the implication is that the scientist had already brought it to life).  I can’t say that the story is any good, or that the artwork is any good, but I’m fascinated by the hidden, unanswered questions in this story.  Like, “What was the purpose of this monster?” Because, unlike in the story of Victor Frankenstein, who was trying to unlock the secrets of life and death, Baron von Zeiss is explicitly “creating a giant monster” (although this monster seems distinctly regular-sized).  He’s not trying to create a new kind of soldier for the next world war, he’s not trying to perfect a revivifying formula to save lives, he’s not practicing experimental brain surgery, nothing.  His remit is “create a giant monster.”  But why, to what end?  Also, could the Baron not afford a sport coat for his monster?  What gives?  Nice temple electrodes, anyhow.

I saw a post once talking about a bingqiu scott pilgrim au where LBH had to fight all of SQQ's suitors, which is a cool concept and all, but have you considered the comedic potential and insanity of a bingyuan Scott pilgrim au where SY has to defeat LITERALLY HUNDREDS of bingge's exes??
