What is your experience as a general category candidate in India?

“No matter from which category they are,they are still H-U-M-A-N-S​!”

School:

His father is manager at the bank, Mother a housewife. Yes, his family income is something about 18–20 lakhs per annum (as mentioned by him).

My both parents are working (govt. Job). Family income is 8 lakhs per annum.

His family of 3 owned 2 cars.

My family of 5 owned only 1 car.

His family owned much property in different cities.

My family owned one and only property i.e. the house we live.

He use iPhone. He had personal iPad. He had personal laptop.

I owned just a small Nokia phone.

In JEE mains, rank was around 43k. He still was alloted BIT Mesra CSE in first round of Jossa. He was enjoying his achievement.

My rank was 27k. Still no seat in any college was alloted to me till the end of Jossa 6th round. I accepted my defeat.

Here came JAC Delhi. He got ECE in DTU in first round, and then CSE in 3rd round.

I applied for JAC Delhi. Rather than seat allotment, it seems like a joke to me. Because closing rank of every branch in both NSIT and DTU was 12k. So what a kid with 27k doing there? Wasting their parents money in those forms?

He got admitted in DTU in CSE.

Thanks to JAC Chandigarh for giving me life. I've got admitted in PEC Chandigarh.( Not mentioning my branch here for anonymity purpose).I would had dropped otherwise.

They still are H-U-M-A-N-S​!

Here comes the College:

Met another guy from category there. He used to say that he begged 19k rank in JEE mains. After some research I've got to know that his rank was 190k. Yes he missed a zero everytime he tell his rank. So I assumed that he must be very weak in maths so he spelled it wrong. (Mistakes are made by H-U-M-A-N-S)

I've nothing to hide. I tell everyone that my rank is 27k.

He never have to pay any fee. Because category students are provided financial help ( A scholarship) to continue their studies. They never asked about family income. Did I just forget to mention that his family income was 25k. He owned his personal iPhone, iPad and MacBook (a nightmare for middle class family to buy). He wear all branded clothes. He go to his home by booking a flight i.e. spend around 15–20k for each flight. So why he need scholarship? Why no fees from him?

On the other hand, my father gifted me a HP laptop and a new Xiaomi mobile phone on my day of admission. Always take bus to home. Got no scholarship. I Still think they are H-U-M-A-N-S​.

So you think that they are H-U-M-A-N?

No, I'm not fed up of hearing this again and again. It just put more hatred in me about the lie they tell to government.

By the way I'm another sufferer from general category!

Human Right to Quality Education

 Quality education refers to efficient education. A good quality education is one that provides individuals and societies to prosper. It allows people to enhance their capabilities require them to become economically productive, contribute to tranquil and democratic societies, develop sustainable livelihoods and enhance individual well-being. The goals of quality education are to provide academic excellence, the learning should be applied practically and lifelong skills should be provided. Education plays a crucial role in the development of a country. It is the heart of development.

The quality of education depends upon various factors like geographical, political, economic, historical and social. The features indulged in achieving the standard education are quality learners, favorable learning environment, content quality, processes etc.

There are many hurdles in access to quality education in which key role is played by poverty. Since poverty is vicious cycle hence parents are not willing of sending their children to schools and think that it’s a waste of time and instead of that they prefer to favor for child labor. The government also pays attention towards passing a budget for educational schemes. The government has introduced mid-day meal scheme so that people who are not financially stable and unable to meet the basic food need to their children send them to school. But the problem arises where there is an existence of corruption. Teachers are not trained in teaching. Poor quality of management, supervision, and monitoring.  

Governments run various programmes but the efficient execution doesn’t occur. Children are not accessed with education which they seriously deserve. Especially the pillars of education that is teachers themselves don’t know the meaning of quality education and are not interested in teaching. Curriculum also is not revised in a certain period of time. Hence students are enforced towards outdated knowledge.

There are some factors playing a key role in demolishing education system. Many a times teachers are appointed for the subject whose 1% knowledge they don’t carry just to occupy the seats. So how can we say our India is progressing or tending towards providing Quality Education.

There are many great individuals who really care for quality education like Mr. Anand Kumar from Bihar and pride of our India who provides free and quality IIT education to people who are not financially capable and prepare them to compete in this competitive world.

The system of quality education can be created by providing adequate teachers, resources, and budget. Educational practices should be based upon practical learning, assessments, research, and discussions. Free education should be provided from standard 1st to 10th. Better planning towards education should be ensured. Training institutes should be target oriented introduced for training purpose. The study should be based upon the ideology of country, it should focus on ethics, norms, values, and culture.

  Prayaas Corps-  is a Non-Profit Non-Governmental Organization working in the field of Education Sector, Leprosy, Shelter, and Health Care.

With a certain motto to stir and inspire the youth’s mind in schools and colleges for National consciousness and work for the cause of society, this independent student organization was formed in 2013 on the day of 12th January. On the birthday of Swami Vivekananda, Prayaas-India, as it was initially called, comprised of a few students from Amity University Jaipur,

Rajasthan. Under the leadership of Mr. Jaspal Godara, Mr. Manish Sharma and Mr. Aditya Gopal, they took up the initiative of working for the elation of the people of the society in order to create a better future and children who wish to serve our Motherland. Now, after four years and five months since formation, a few membered Prayaas- India

transformed into Prayaas Corps, with volunteers not only active in Jaipur but in cities like Jodhpur, Kota, New Delhi, Jabalpur, Silchar etc and has branches in Chhattisgarh, Rajasthan,

New Delhi etc. With more than 500 on the field and social media volunteers from all over the nation, connected through www.prayaascorps.com, Facebook and Instagram pages, the organization has extended its reach to major cities In India in a couple of years. The intense problems prevailing in society, illiteracy, women empowerment, environmental issues, social upliftment, every single aspect has been considered and new ways have been constructed each time to fight the evils. Awareness programmes, education missions, medical camps etc have contributed to eradicate mass suffering and create a healthy and sound society.

Many more years are yet to come. Many more people are yet to be saved. Prayaas Corps has yet to grow and it shall. With numbers of dedicated volunteers increasing, it sure is meant to create a huge difference in society.

 Our Work and Initiatives

●     Shiksha Mission- Shiksha Mission is one of the most drastic and superlative initiatives of Prayaas Corps. Realizing the hollowness of the Indian education system, volunteers took a major step in educating children in nearby government schools which lacks to provide children a fundamental education. Children are taught after school, not only the syllabi but co-curricular activities too. Shiksha Mission received an overwhelming response from villagers who were reluctant to give their children a proper education as well as from children who were interested to learn and adopt new skills and learnings.

 ●    Leprosy Event-

There exists a misconception among people of our country regarding Leprosy. Discarding such baseless concepts and to give those people hope of life, volunteers celebrate World Leprosy

Day and Republic Day every year with Leprosy contracted people of Indra Kushta Ashram. Apart from providing them food and delicacies, educational and entertainment events also organized to show them that they are too, a part of this society and country. They are encouraged to study, to learn and never lose hope so that someday they might become dutiful citizens.

●    Raahat- A gift of warmth-

Northern India is one of such part of our country which, each year, witnesses extreme winters.

Well to do thrive, the poor and the needy suffer. It is through Raahat the volunteers carry out a large-scale blanket and warm cloth distribution to the needy and poor to help them sustain the extreme cold. The event is conducted in two parts. In the first part, people in Old Age Homes are being donated blankets and in the next phase, needy people on streets are being provided with clothes and blankets. Through years, the growth has been substantial.

 ●    Environmental Issues-

Volunteers of Prayaas Corps have taken steps for environmental protection as well. Organising plantation drives,  providing food and water in hanging pitchers for the birds in summer and cleanliness drives under Swachh Bharat Abhiyaan have been the major events which reflect the organization’s sustainable perspective towards our environment.

These events received huge accolades as support increased.

●    Health Care-

With growing support and volunteers, Prayaas Corps in association with many hospitals have organized medical camps and blood donation events. This helped in several ways.

Blood donation cards helped volunteers to donate blood to the one in need whenever necessary. It too gave an opportunity for many people to save as many lives by donating their blood. Health camps are too being organized in villages with poor medical facilities. Doctors treat villagers free of cost providing quality medicines and treatment.
