Dr. Austin Harris, MD: A Compassionate Force
A Compassionate Force in the Heart of Los Angeles
In the sprawling metropolis of Los Angeles, where the glitz and glamor often overshadow the struggles of its homeless population, there shines a beacon of hope – Dr. Austin Harris, MD. This dedicated physician has not only committed himself to the profession of serving people that are dealing with mental health conditions but also to the community he calls home. In this article, we will delve into the inspiring story of Dr. Austin Harris and his unwavering dedication to Casa Mariposa by Depaul USA, a haven for the homeless in Downtown LA. We’ll explore his tireless efforts in feeding, cleaning, trash collection, and providing conversation to those in need, all with the aim of reconnecting individuals with their dignity and society.
I. The Heart of Los Angeles
Los Angeles is renowned for its glitzy entertainment industry, but beneath the surface lies a different reality. The city grapples with a significant homeless population, facing hardships beyond imagination. It’s in the heart of this bustling city that Dr. Austin Harris, MD, has found his mission. But what drives a successful physician to devote his time to the less fortunate?
A. A Call to Serve
Dr. Harris’s journey to community service began with a simple but profound realization – the power of empathy. He recognized that his medical skills could be a lifeline for those without access to adequate mental healthcare. This led him to Casa Mariposa, where he saw an opportunity to make a difference.
B. Volunteering at Casa Mariposa
1. The Breakfast Mission
One of the cornerstones of Dr. Harris’s involvement at Casa Mariposa is the hot meal program. Everytime he volunteers, he joins a dedicated team to provide nourishing meals to the homeless. The simple act of serving a hot meal symbolizes more than sustenance; it’s a gesture of compassion and a reminder of humanity’s interconnectedness.
2. Beyond Meals: Holistic Support
But Dr. Harris’s commitment goes far beyond serving meals. He lends a compassionate ear to those in need. His medical expertise is a valuable resource for addressing health concerns, often neglected in the homeless community.
II. A Day in the Life of Dr. Austin Harris
To truly understand the impact of Dr. Harris’s work, we need to step into his shoes for a day. His duties at Casa Mariposa are diverse, demanding both medical expertise and a caring heart.
A. The Morning Ritual
The day begins with preparing breakfast – a hot, nourishing meal that not only fills empty stomachs but also warms the soul. Dr. Harris joins hands with other volunteers, demonstrating that community service transcends titles and professions.
B. Counseling and Support
After breakfast, Dr. Harris dons his counseling hat. He provides a safe space for individuals to share their stories, fears, and dreams. This human connection, often overlooked in a busy world, is a fundamental step towards societal reconnection.
C. Beyond the Clinic
Dr. Harris understands that healthcare doesn’t stop at medical treatment. He actively engages in trash collection and cleaning, fostering a clean and safe environment for Casa Mariposa residents. It’s a stark reminder that dignity and hygiene are essential for all.
III. The Ripple Effect
Dr. Austin Harris’s commitment to Casa Mariposa creates a ripple effect that extends far beyond Downtown LA.
A. Inspiring Others
His dedication inspires others in the medical field to volunteer their time and expertise. It’s a reminder that healthcare is not confined to clinic walls but can be a force for positive change in the community.
B. Building Bridges
Through his work, Dr. Harris bridges the gap between the homeless population and the broader community. Casa Mariposa becomes a platform for societal reconnection, dispelling stereotypes and fostering understanding.
IV. The Questions We Must Answer
As we explore Dr. Austin Harris’s remarkable journey, we are confronted with questions that demand answers:
– What motivates individuals like Dr. Harris to selflessly serve their communities? – How can we, as a society, ensure that the homeless population receives the support they deserve? – What role does empathy play in addressing homelessness and societal disconnection?
V. Conclusion: A Call to Action
In conclusion, Dr. Austin Harris, MD, exemplifies the spirit of compassion and community service. His dedication to Casa Mariposa by Depaul USA illuminates the path towards a more caring society. As we ponder the questions raised earlier, we find that the solutions lie in people like Dr. Harris, who embody the change they wish to see.
Let us heed this call to action, recognizing that each one of us can make a difference, no matter how big or small. Dr. Austin Harris has shown us that volunteering, lending an empathetic ear, and providing essential services can transform lives and communities. In our own way, we can all contribute to the betterment of our society, just as Dr. Harris has done in the heart of Los Angeles.

Riding Towards Justice: Choosing a Motorcycle Lawyer in Austin, Dallas, and Waco
Navigating the aftermath of a motorcycle accident in Austin, Dallas, or Waco demands expertise and dedication. Consulting with an experienced motorcycle lawyer ensures every legal challenge is addressed meticulously.
With proven success stories like recovering $3,200,000 for clients facing traumatic injuries due to negligence, our lawyers bring unparalleled skill and commitment to each case across these Texas cities. Riding towards justice begins here.
Navigating Legal Highways in Austin
Navigating legal highways in Austin requires expert guidance. For motorcycle accidents, consulting an experienced lawyer is crucial due to the complexities involved. The Miller Weisbrod team, led by board-certified specialist Clay Miller, ensures thorough investigation and representation for injured riders.
They handle immediate evidence collection with accident reconstruction teams and consult world-class brain injury specialists as needed. For instance, they secured $3.2 million for a TBI victim hit by a construction truck attempting a risky maneuver. Their track record includes recovering over $1 billion across various personal injuries.
Motorcycle lawyers in Austin meticulously address hazards motorcyclists face on busy roads like TX-71 or I-35 ensuring justice aligns seamlessly with every turn of their cases.
Dallas Riders Seek Trusted Counsel
Dallas motorcycle riders require trustworthy and experienced legal representation. John Greenway, a personal injury lawyer with 26 years of experience, has secured millions in settlements for his clients. His notable achievements include recovering $800K in a motorcycle case.
Lesley Lorenz from Dallas focuses on personal injury law after serving as an Assistant District Attorney. Her firm achieved a significant win with $950K for a motorcycle accident client. Both lawyers’ extensive track records underscore their capability to provide robust counsel tailored specifically for motorcyclists’ needs amidst the heavy traffic laws governing Texas roads.
Waco Advocates for Biker Rights
Waco advocates for biker rights face significant challenges. McLennan County, where Waco is located, has seen extensive media coverage of the Twin Peaks incident. This includes 219 newspaper stories and nearly 200 TV segments, all scrutinizing local bikers.
Stuart Broden’s client will be tried in the county’s 54th District Court but argues against it due to biased media portrayal and public opinion shaped by law enforcement narratives. The district attorney labeled motorcyclists as gang members on television multiple times which unfairly prejudices jurors before trial begins. Leveraging an experienced motorcycle lawyer ensures fair representation amid such pervasive bias.

When to Contact an Austin Personal Injury Lawyer
Dog bite injuries can be traumatic and life-altering, often leaving victims with physical scars, emotional distress, and financial burdens. Understanding when to contact a personal injury lawyer in Austin can make a significant difference in securing the compensation you deserve. Here’s a guide to help you determine the right time to seek legal assistance for a dog bite injury.
Recognize the Severity of Your Injury
Dog bites can range from minor scratches to severe wounds requiring extensive medical treatment. If your injury is severe, resulting in deep lacerations, nerve damage, or broken bones, it’s crucial to seek immediate medical attention. Following medical care, contacting a personal injury lawyer can help you navigate the complexities of your case and ensure your rights are protected.
Understand the Legal Implications
In Austin, Texas, dog owners can be held liable for injuries caused by their pets, especially if the dog has a history of aggression or if the owner was negligent in controlling the animal. A personal injury lawyer in Austin will be well-versed in local laws and can determine if you have a valid claim based on the circumstances of the incident.
Gather Evidence
To build a strong case, gathering evidence is essential. This includes taking photographs of your injuries, documenting the incident, collecting witness statements, and obtaining medical records. An experienced personal injury lawyer can assist in gathering and preserving evidence to support your claim effectively.
Dealing with Insurance Companies
Insurance companies often aim to minimize payouts, and dealing with them can be challenging, especially when you're recovering from an injury. A personal injury lawyer can handle all communications with the insurance company, ensuring that your interests are represented and that you receive fair compensation for your medical expenses, lost wages, pain and suffering, and other related costs.
Statute of Limitations
Texas law imposes a statute of limitations on personal injury claims, including dog bite cases. This means you have a limited time to file a lawsuit. Consulting with a personal injury lawyer promptly after the incident ensures that your claim is filed within the legal timeframe, preserving your right to seek compensation.
Emotional and Psychological Impact
Dog bite injuries can leave lasting emotional and psychological scars. A compassionate personal injury lawyer understands the impact of these injuries beyond the physical wounds. They can help you seek compensation for therapy and counseling services necessary for your recovery.
If you or a loved one has suffered a dog bite injury, don’t wait to seek legal assistance. Contacting a personal injury lawyer in Austin promptly can help you navigate the legal process, protect your rights, and secure the compensation you need to recover fully. Dog bite injuries are serious, and having a knowledgeable attorney by your side can make all the difference in your journey to recovery.

Leaving (Gallup) An analysis of survey data of 127,000 respondents in 122 countries collected throughout 2021 found that 16 percent of adults around the world—the equivalent of 900 million people—would like to leave their country permanently if they could, a sentiment that reached 37 percent among respondents in Latin America and the Caribbean, 37 percent in sub-Saharan Africa and 27 percent in the Middle East and North Africa. More than half of the respondents in multiple countries wanted to move away, with levels highest in Sierra Leone (76 percent would like to move to a different country), Lebanon (63 percent), Honduras (56 percent) and Gabon (55 percent). The most desired destination is still the United States, where 18 percent of potential migrants said they would most like to get to, followed by Canada (8 percent of migrants) and Germany (7 percent).
Police traffic stops (BBC) Tyre Nichols is one of dozens of drivers to have died in recent years after being pulled over by police. The death of Mr Nichols in Memphis has highlighted how one of the most common interactions the public has with police—the traffic stop—can turn deadly. Last year, at least 86 people were killed by police in interactions that began as traffic stops. Since 2017, more than 800 people have been killed after being pulled over in the US, according to statistics from the Mapping Police Violence database. Last year, traffic stops led to roughly 7% of all police killings nationwide. Larry James, general counsel of the National Fraternal Order of Police, told the BBC that the dangers of a stop—when an officer doesn’t know who, or what, is in a vehicle—mean they must exercise caution. “There have been situations where officers have been shot, just flat out killed or seriously injured, in traffic stops. That’s the bottom line. So they’re extremely cautious,” he said. Ayesha Bell Hardaway, a law professor and co-director of the Social Justice Institute at Case Western Reserve University in Ohio, said that a lot of police training for traffic stops is “antiquated”. “As dangerous as police officers are taught it is for them, we know that civilians are killed at a far greater rate by police officers than in reverse,” she said. Police departments also give officers incentives to pull people over, seeing traffic stops as a way to fill city coffers or using them as a metric for officers to be evaluated.
Frustrated Texans endure winter storm with no power, heat (AP) Thousands of frustrated Texans shivered in their homes Thursday after more than a day without power, including many in the state capital, as an icy winter storm that has been blamed for at least 10 traffic deaths lingered across much of the southern U.S. Even as temperatures finally pushed above freezing in Austin—and were expected to climb past 50 degrees (10 Celsius) on Friday—the relief will be just in time for an Arctic front to drop from Canada and threaten northern states. Across Texas, 430,000 customers lacked power Thursday, according to PowerOutage.us. But the failures were most widespread in Austin, where frustration mounted among more than 156,000 customers over 24 hours after their electricity went out, which for many also meant their heat. Power failures have affected about 30% of customers in the city of nearly a million at any given time since Wednesday. For many Texans, it was the second time in three years that a February freeze—temperatures were in the 30s Thursday with wind chills below freezing — caused prolonged outages and uncertainty over when the lights would come back on.
Biden’s ‘no’ on F-16s for Ukraine met with skepticism in Pentagon (Washington Post) President Biden’s brusque refusal to fulfill Ukraine’s request for F-16 jets has been greeted with skepticism at the Pentagon, where some officials, citing the administration’s pattern of reversal after first rejecting other pleas from Kyiv, foresee eventual approval or a scenario where American allies provide the aircraft with administration approval. One senior defense official, who, like some others interviewed for this report, spoke on the condition of anonymity to discuss internal deliberations, said that while the Pentagon’s calculus was unlikely to shift soon, there remains a possibility that the discussion could be “M1-ed,” a reference to Biden’s recent commitment of M1 Abrams tanks after administration officials suggested for months that the sophisticated arms would be too complex for Ukraine to maintain.
Ukraine Fears New Offensive Is Underway as Russia Masses Troops (NYT) Moscow has massed hundreds of thousands of troops in Ukraine and is targeting dozens of places a day in a markedly stepped-up barrage of artillery attacks. Ukrainian forces are struggling to hold their ground on a 140-mile stretch in the east, awaiting tanks, armored vehicles and other weapons systems from the West. Ukrainian officials have been bracing for weeks for a new Russian offensive that could rival the opening of the war. Now, they are warning that the campaign is underway, with the Kremlin seeking to reshape the battlefield and seize the momentum. “I think it has started,” President Volodymyr Zelensky of Ukraine said this week.
Hindu vigilantes carry out wave of anti-Christian violence in India (Washington Post) Over two decades of practicing and proselytizing Christianity, Badinath Salam had been kicked out of his home several times and often harassed. But in December, he recalled, the vitriol turned virulent. Leaders in his Indigenous Indian village beat drums to summon all 100 households to a clearing, he said. There, gathered villagers pummeled their Christian neighbors, who made up one-fifth of their village, and left Salam hospitalized for three days. When the drumbeats began again a week later, on Jan. 9, Salam ran for his life. In this part of central India, he wasn’t the only Christian forced to flee. Since December, Hindu vigilantes in Chhattisgarh state in eastern India, enraged by the spread of Christianity and rallied by local political leaders, have assaulted and displaced hundreds of Christian converts in dozens of villages and left a trail of damaged churches, according to interviews with local Christians and activists and as seen during a recent trip to the area. In villages, bruised and beaten Christian converts picked through the rubble of churches destroyed by mobs wielding sledgehammers. In dusty townships, Hindu nationalist leaders led impassioned rallies promising more action against Christian conversions. In an empty government gym of the dusty township of Narayanpur, evicted families including Salam’s sought refuge, sleeping on mats next to a few sacks of spare clothes and grain.
Iran imprisons couple for 10½ years after they danced in public, activists say (Washington Post) An Iranian couple have been jailed for more than 10 years each after a video of them dancing romantically near a Tehran monument was posted on social media, according to the activist news agency HRANA. Astiaj Haghighi and Amir Mohammad Ahmadi, Instagram influencers who are reportedly in their early 20s, were arrested by security forces at home in November, the activist group said. They were sentenced by a Tehran court to 10½ years in prison each for “promotion of impurity and indecency, assembly and collusion against national security, and propaganda against the regime.” Their imprisonment comes amid a broader crackdown by Iran’s theocratic government in a bid to extinguish a months-long uprising calling for its ouster. Women and young people are playing a central role in the movement. In some cities, women have taken off their headscarves and set them on fire, in an act of defiance against the ruling Islamists. (Haghighi was not wearing a headscarf in the video of the couple dancing that circulated.) Others have cut their hair in public. At least 14,000 people, including children, have been arrested during the protests, the United Nations said in November, adding that by a “conservative” estimate, more than 300 people have killed. HRANA also estimates that Iran has issued at least 22 death sentences and charged more than 100 people with capital offenses.
Blinken visit deepens Israeli and Palestinian skepticism about U.S. role (Washington Post) On one topic, Israelis and Palestinians appear to agree: Both are deeply skeptical, even scornful, of renewed calls made by the Biden administration this week for a two-state solution here. Many called the gesture—at this moment of violence and radicalism—feeble, even farcical. On his first trip to the region after the return of Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu to power, and amid days of escalating bloodshed, U.S. Secretary of State Antony Blinken promoted the long-held dream of two states side by side—one Israeli, one Palestinian—as the best guarantor of peace. But recent polling suggests that only a third of Palestinians and Israelis believe in two states today, and they both blame the United States for not doing more. Outside the post office in the Palestinian neighborhood of Beit Hanina in East Jerusalem, Ahmad Abdulaziz, a young accountant, said “the two-state solution is like a song the Americans sing when they want to pacify us. It’s like a lullaby you sing to children to put them to sleep.”
The Grid Grinds To A Stop (CNN) South Africa is the latest country to face power grid issues, with the situation escalating to the point that President Cyril Ramaphosa is considering declaring a national state of disaster. Outages have caused a variety of issues, including car crashes, opportunistic criminals, rotting food, decomposing bodies, bankrupt businesses, and water shortages. State-run power company Eskom has struggled with corruption issues since its creation in 1994, and the South African government has failed to create the new power plants experts say are needed to keep up with demand for decades. Even established power plants are a problem area due to lack of maintenance and criminals stealing both coal and power cables for resale. To compensate for its failing infrastructure and energy shortages, Eskom has resorted to nationwide rolling blackouts occurring multiple times per day, affecting even the most basic services. South African citizens have been advised to bury their dead within found days as morgues lack the resources to keep bodies preserved for longer periods, police have struggled to control crime due to traffic jams caused by a lack of traffic lights, and average people can’t cook or even use water due to constant rolling outages. The country’s government is coming under increased fire from demonstrators and political organizations, with no solution in sight.
Pope consoles Congolese victims: ‘Your pain is my pain’ (AP) Pope Francis on Wednesday urged Congo’s people to forgive those who committed “inhuman violence” against them, celebrating a Mass for 1 million people and then hearing firsthand of the atrocities some of them have endured. Francis sat in silence as victim after victim came forward to tell their stories. He watched as they offered up at the foot of a crucifix a symbol of their pain: the machete used to maim and kill, or the straw bed mat on which they had been raped. When they knelt in front of him for a blessing, Francis placed his hand on their heads, or on the stumps of the arms that remained. “Your tears are my tears; your pain is my pain,” Francis told them. “To every family that grieves or is displaced by the burning of villages and other war crimes, to the survivors of sexual violence and to every injured child and adult, I say: I am with you; I want to bring you God’s caress.” The intimate encounter at the Vatican Embassy in Kinshasa was an extraordinary moment of a pastor seeking to console his flock, and of a pope seeking to shine a spotlight on what Francis has called a “forgotten genocide” that barely makes the news. Despite being home to one of the largest U.N. peacekeeping operation in the world, eastern Congo has been mired in violence since the early 1990s as rebels and militias vie for control of mineral-rich territory.

For the last few weeks, I’ve been going through it. First there was the constant stream of news about the disproportionate impacts of COVID-19 on Black communities, then came the deaths of George Floyd, Breonna Taylor, and Tony McDade at the hands of police and the wrongful death of Ahmaud Arbery. Meanwhile I’m navigating this pandemic along with everyone else, and trying to figure out how to make a positive impact along the way. It’s been dizzying. And I know I’m not alone.
According to Naj Austin, founder of the social community for people of color Ethel’s Club, all of those complex feelings and mixed emotions are normal in times of crisis and collective trauma. Ethel’s Club, which previously offered free mental health counseling for members in its Brooklyn location, has now transitioned to a digital model. “The great thing about a healing space like Ethel’s Club is that it takes our identity, and everything that comes with that, into account. You can’t talk about these complex feelings without talking about Blackness.” The club’s online community is hosting free, hour-long grieving sessions twice monthly.
For many Black people practicing social distancing, the need for virtual resources has never been more clear. So, I’ve compiled a list of six more mental health resources, in addition to Ethel’s Club, that are providing virtual support to the Black community right now. However you choose to grieve, process, and/or stand in solidarity, remember that you’re not alone, and that your personhood and wellness still matter.
Dive in Well
Maryam Ajayi founded Dive in Well, an organization offering digital classes on various wellness practices, to create a more inclusive wellness industry. Dive in Well hosts donation-based digital events like breathwork classes and therapy sessions aimed at centering self care.
Sista Afya
This Chicago-based, community-driven organization provides women from across the Black diaspora with low-cost group therapy sessions, workshops, and free online conversations known as Online Sista Support Groups, which cover topics like managing the stress sparked by consuming news.
Healhaus
Founders Darian Hall and Elisa Shankle created this space in Brooklyn to provide accessible and inclusive wellness to their community. HealHaus is currently closed, but their ethos has continued virtually through live streamed classes, including a healing cypher for men of color.
Therapy for Black Girls
Dr. Joy Harden Bradford founded this organization to combat the stigma around therapy that might otherwise prevent Black women from seeking care. Now, TBG has become a successful podcast, a directory that aims to connect women with culturally competent therapists, as well as a private community Facebook support group. The organization holds free group support sessions weekly on Thursday nights at 7 p.m. EST.
The Nap Ministry
Performance artist and poet Tricia Hersey founded The Nap Ministry to champion Black rest as a form of reparations and resistance against burnout culture and capitalism. While she normally hosts free pop-ups where visitors can take brief naps and workshops in the Atlanta area, Hersey has been using Instagram to provide mini sermons about the importance of slowing down and getting more sleep when you’re a Black person fighting oppression day-in and day-out.
Inclusive Therapists
Austin-based therapist Melody Li founded the Inclusive Therapists database to provide therapists with training for racial trauma and connect people of all identities, abilities, and bodies with culturally sensitive care. Li herself, and many other therapists in the Inclusive Therapists network, offer reduced-fee teletherapy options to ensure that financial limitations do not keep people from pursuing care. Decolonizing Therapy and Viva Wellness are two other therapy practices with active online platforms.

Nikola Tesla Explaining His World Wireless System and How It Differs From Today's.
A pre-hearing interview with his legal counsel in 1916 to protect his radio patents from the Guglielmo Marconi and the Marconi Company.
Tesla:
"This illustrates, on a larger scale, the earth. Here is my transmitter—mine or anybody's transmitter—because my system is the system of the day. The only difference is in the way I apply it. They, the radio engineers, want to apply my system one way; I want to apply it in another way."
"This is the circuit energizing the antenna. As the vibratory energy flows, two things happen: There is electromagnetic energy radiated and a current passes into the earth. The first goes out in the form of rays, which have definite properties. These rays propagate with the velocity of light, 300,000 kilometers per second. This energy is exactly like a hot stove. If you will imagine that the cylinder antenna is hot—and indeed it is heated by the current—it would radiate out energy of exactly the same kind as it does now. If the system is applied in the sense I want to apply it, this energy is absolutely lost, in all cases most of it is lost. While this electromagnetic energy throbs, a current passes into the globe."
"Now, there is a vast difference between these two, the electromagnetic and current energies. That energy which goes out in the form of rays, is, as I have indicated here, unrecoverable, hopelessly lost. You can operate a little instrument by catching a billionth part of it but, except this, all goes out into space never to return. This other energy, however, of the current in the globe, is stored and completely recoverable. Theoretically, it does not take much effort to maintain the earth in electrical vibration. I have, in fact, worked out a plant of 10,000 horse-power which would operate with no bigger loss than 1 percent of the whole power applied; that is, with the exception of the frictional energy that is consumed in the rotation of the engines and the heating of the conductors, I would not lose more than 1 percent. In other words, if I have a 10,000 horsepower plant, it would take only 100 horsepower to keep the earth vibrating so long as there is no energy taken out at any other place."
"There is another difference. The electromagnetic energy travels with the speed of light, but see how the current flows. At the first moment, this current propagates exactly like the shadow of the moon at the earth's surface. It starts with infinite velocity from that point, but its speed rapidly diminishes; it flows slower and slower until it reaches the equator, 6,000 miles from the transmitter. At that point, the current flows with the speed of light—that is, 300,000 kilometers per second. But, if you consider the resultant current through the globe along the axis of symmetry of propagation, the resultant current flows continuously with the same velocity of light."
"Whether this current passing through the center of the earth to the opposite side is real, or whether it is merely an effect of these surface currents, makes absolutely no difference. To understand the concept, one must imagine that the current from the transmitter flows straight to the opposite point of the globe."
"There is where I answer the attacks which have been made on me. For instance, Dr. Pupin has ridiculed the Tesla system. He says,"
"The energy goes only in all directions."
"It does not. It goes only in one direction. He is deceived by the size and shape of the earth. Looking at the horizon, he imagines how the currents flow in all directions, but if he would only for a moment think that this earth is like a copper wire and the transmitter on the top of the same, he would immediately realize that the current only flows along the axis of the propagation."
"The mode of propagation can be expressed by a very simple mathematical law, which is, the current at any point flows with a velocity proportionate to the cosecant of the angle which a radius from that point includes with the axis of symmetry of wave propagation. At the transmitter, the cosecant is infinite; therefore, the velocity is infinite. At a distance of 6,000 miles, the cosecant is unity; therefore, the velocity is equal to that of light. This law I have expressed in a patent by the statement that the projections of all zones on the axis of symmetry are of the same length, which means, in other words, as is known from rules of trigonometry, that the areas of all the zones must also be equal. It says that although the waves travel with different velocities from point to point, nevertheless each half wave always includes the same area. This is a simple law, not unlike the one which has been expressed by Kepler with reference to the areas swept over by the radii vectors."
"I hope that I have been clear in this exposition—in bringing to your attention that what I show here is the system of the day, and is my system—only the radio engineers use my apparatus to produce too much of this electromagnetic energy here, instead of concentrating all their attention on designing an apparatus which will impress a current upon the earth and not waste the power of the plant in an uneconomical process."
Counsel:
"You say radio engineers put too much energy into the radiating part. What, as a matter of fact, according to your conception, is the part of the energy that is received in the receivers in the present system?"
Tesla:
"That has been investigated. Very valuable experiments have been made by Dr. Austin, who has measured the effects at a distance. He has evolved a formula in agreement with the Hertz wave theory, and the energy collected is an absolutely vanishing quantity. It is just enough to operate a very delicate receiver. If it were not for such devices as are now in use, the audion, for instance, nothing could be done. But with the audion, they magnify so that this infinitesimal energy they get is sufficient to operate the receiver. With my system, I can convey to a distant point millions of times the energy they transmit."
Counsel:
"To illustrate my question, take for instance the energy used at Sayville and the reception of that at Nauen. I want to know whether it is your idea that the reception there is due to the earth currents that you have described or to the radiated energy."
Tesla:
"It is far more due to the earth currents than to the radiated energy. I believe, indeed, that the radiated energy alone could not possibly produce the effect across the Atlantic. It is simply because they are incidentally sending a current through the globe—which they think is their current—that the receiver is affected. The current produces variations of potential at the earth's surface in Germany; these fluctuations of potential energize the circuit, and by resonance they increase the potential there and operate the receiver. But I do not mean that it is absolutely impossible to use my apparatus and operate with electromagnetic waves across the Atlantic or Pacific. I only say that according to calculations, for instance, which I have made of the Sayville plant, the radiated energy is very small and cannot be operative. I have also calculated the distribution of the charge on the antenna. I am told that the Sayville antenna is without abrupt changes of capacity. It is impossible. There are changes even in a cylindrical antenna; but particularly in that form at Sayville—there are very abrupt changes..."
"From my circuit you can get either electromagnetic waves, 90 percent of electromagnetic waves if you like, and 10 percent in the current energy that passes through the earth. Or, you can reverse the process and get 10 percent of the energy in electromagnetic waves and 90 percent in energy of the current that passes through the earth... I am suppressing electromagnetic waves. In my system, you should free yourself of the idea that there is radiation, that the energy is radiated. It is not radiated; it is conserved.”

ASAP Credit Repair Services Tips
ASAP Credit Repair Services
1) Credit Repair Tips
It is just so easy to get yourself into trouble financially. You finance something here and something there, then next thing you know you are in over you head. Getting out of the financial issue and repairing your credit is the hard part. The article below gives you a few pointers on what you can do to help repair your credit.
To build up a good credit score, keep your oldest credit card active. Having a payment history that goes back a few years will definitely improve your score. Work with this institution to establish a good interest rate. Apply for new cards if you need to, but make sure you keep using your oldest card.
When disputing items with a credit reporting agency make sure to not use photocopied or form letters. Form letters send up red flags with the agencies and make them think that the request is not legitimate. This type of letter will cause the agency to work a bit more diligently to verify the debt. Do not give them a reason to look harder.
Report good information to credit repot agencies to help increase your score. If you have a job that is not listed, have it added to show job stability and increased income. If you owe taxes and have paid them on time, have that information added as well, to show that you do have the ability to pay debts.
Repair your credit. If you want to take out a loan, a company is going to look at your credit report. If you have a poor credit score, they may refuse to loan you money or the loan that you qualify for, may have a very high interest rate. By paying off your bills in a timely manner, your credit score will improve, gradually. If you have a lot of debt that you are unable to pay, talk to a credit counselor. They will negotiate a repayment plan with your creditors, often lowering the payments and interest rates.
An important tip to consider when working to repair your credit is the fact that your credit score will never remain the same. This is important to know because you should expect changes to it for the positive or negative and not be overly worried as long as your follow all of the basics for establishing good credit.
If you are trying to repair your credit, don't allow a disputed bill to go to collections. Just because something shouldn't have been charged to you doesn't mean it can't go to collections and harm your credit score. Instead of refusing to pay the bill, pay it but include a notice that you are paying under protest and intend to take the matter to the small claims court.
Credit Repair
Be mindful of the impact that debt consolidation has on your credit. Taking out a debt consolidation loan from a credit repair organization looks just as bad on your credit report as other indicators of a debt crisis, such as entering credit counseling. It is true, however, that in some cases, the money savings from a consolidation loan may be worth the credit score hit.
Since there are so many companies that offer credit repair service, how can you tell if the company behind these offers are up to no good? If the company suggests that you make no direct contact with the three major nationwide consumer reporting companies, it is probably an unwise choice to let this company help repair your credit.
Before you start on your journey to credit repair, read your rights in the "Fair Credit Reporting Act." This way, you are less likely to fall for scams. With more knowledge, you will know how to protect yourself. The more protected you are, the more likely you will be able to raise your credit score.
No one has to live with a bad credit score. Even though the sound of repairing your credit sounds daunting, it can be accomplished. The first step is to determine what is hurting your credit score. After figuring this out, begin taking measures to minimize the damage. Next, begin steps to start adding positive data to your credit history, like paying bills in a timely manner. If you feel you need help in this endeavor, try to find a reputable credit repair company.
Credit repair takes time, there is no quick fix. If there are negative marks, there is nothing you can do except wait for them to fall off. As time goes on, the negative marks will count less against your score, but they won't go away. It also takes time to show you can pay your bills on time and can do the positive things it takes to show you are reliable.
If you have to correspond with a credit reporting agency always make sure that you do everything in your own writing. Using a typewriter or a computer to compose the letter will lead them to believe that you are dealing with a credit repair company and it will lead them to red flag your account.
One of your first steps in credit repair should be creating a budget. Determine how much money you have coming in, and how much is going out. While creating your budget, take into account your financial goals as well, for example, setting up an emergency fund and paying down debt.
Be extremely cautious when hiring a credit repair organization. Most of these organizations act unethically, and some even illegally. If a company tells you they can repair your credit in an unusually short period of time, it isn't true. Check the company out with the Better Business Bureau before paying any fees to the agency.
As you can see, there are steps that you can take that will help move you into the right direction when it comes to restoring your credit rating. Your credit is very important and the sooner you take control of it and start repairing it, the better it will be for you.
2) Credit Repair Tips You Can Implement Right Now
When you don't have good credit, it can seem like the world is against you. You can't make purchases like everyone else, and when you do, you are hit with high interest rates. Even though that doesn't seem fair, you can build your credit up again with these effective tips.
Repairing your credit score can mean getting a higher credit later. You may not think this is important until you need to finance a large purchase such as a car, and don't have the credit to back it up. Repair your credit score so you have the wiggle room for those unexpected purchases.
Before consulting a credit counseling agency, be sure to check out their background and history. Many counselors are honest and helpful, but others may be less interested in actually helping you. There are many scams out there. Intelligent customers will make sure to determine the legitimacy of a credit counseling agency before acquiring their services.
If you are trying to repair your credit after being forced into a bankruptcy, be sure all of your debt from the bankruptcy is properly marked on your credit report. While having a debt dissolved because of bankruptcy is hard on your score, you do want creditors to know that those items are no longer in your current debt pool.
An important tip to consider when working to repair your credit is the fact that your credit score will never remain the same. This is important to know because you should expect changes to it for the positive or negative and not be overly worried as long as your follow all of the basics for establishing good credit.
An important tip to consider when working to repair your credit is to never use the option to skip a month's payment without penalty. This is important because you should always pay at least the minimum balance, due to the amount of interest that the company will still earn from you.
Even if you have had problems with credit in the past, living a cash-only lifestyle will not repair your credit. If you want to increase your credit score, you need to make use of your available credit, but do it wisely. If you truly don't trust yourself with a credit card, ask to be an authorized user on a friend or relatives card, but don't hold an actual card.
The better your credit score is the better rates you are going to get from your insurance company. Pay your bills on time each month and your credit score will raise. Reduce the amount of money that you owe on your credit accounts and it will go up even more and your premiums will go down.
Asking for help from a friend or a family member who consistantly proves to manage their money and credit in a responsible way, is a great way to learn how to repair your credit ratings. Be open to their advice and take what they say to heart.
Credit Repair
If you file bankruptcy, ignore the calls you receive afterwards from credit repair firms. A bankruptcy is a public record and many scams are run by companies preying on your weakness after having to file a bankruptcy. Avoid this issue by only working with companies that you make the initial contact with.
When using a credit repair service, be sure not to pay any money upfront for these services. It is unlawful for a company to ask you for any money until they have proven that they have given you the results they promised when you signed your contract. The results can be seen in your credit report issued by the credit bureau, and this could take six months or more once the corrections were made.
An important tip to consider when working repairing your credit is to ensure that everything in your contract is written down and signed. This goes for any credit repair transaction or any agreement with your creditor. This is important because you can never assume - just because something was said in person or over the phone - it is binding.
If you feel you have been scammed by a credit repair organization, it is important to know that many states now have laws which regulate these companies. Quite frequently, state law enforcement officials can provide help if you have lost money with a credit repair scam. You should contact the office of your state Attorney General or your local consumer affairs office to ascertain what legal action you may take.

One of the largest causes of bad credit is fraud. Staying on top of your credit by obtaining free yearly credit reports from the three major credit agencies will alert you of any fraudulent activity early on. The most common thing to watch for is new credit cards issued through the theft of your identity. Taking preventative measures like this will help you maintain high credit and reduce the need for unnecessary credit repair.
Be cautious when considering a credit repair program or organization. Many for profit companies promise to clean up your credit in exchange for a paid fee yet are unable to deliver on their promise. Research appropriate methods of credit repair you can do yourself or work through an approved credit counseling bureau to improve your credit effectively.
If you are in need of credit repair, it is a good idea to first stop making any unnecessary requests for new credit. If you do need a new source of credit, research the likelihood of being approved. The reason for this is that each application for new credit will come with a small penalty on your credit score due to the fact that your credit report will be pulled by the creditor. Only apply for credit that you actually need and minimize your applications by applying only where you have a good chance of being approved.
Building your credit again is the best way to start feeling good about your finances again. Use these tips to get you started and even though you might not see results right away, they will come. Your credit will get better and better until one day you won't think about it at all because your financial picture will be rosy.
3) Easy Tips To Help You Get Better Credit
When your credit is bad, it can make you feel discouraged, upset and like a failure. Not much talking is done about what you can do to repair your credit but there are indeed steps you can take to make your credit score rise. Here are a few ways to do that.
If you have a lot of debts or liabilities in your name, those don't go away when you pass away. Your family will still be responsible, which is why you need to invest in life insurance to protect them. A life insurance policy will pay out enough money for them to cover your expenses at the time of your death.
If you repair your credit score, you can save money on your insurance premiums. This refers to all types of insurance, including your homeowner's insurance, your auto insurance, and even your life insurance. A poor credit history reflects badly on your character as a person, meaning your rates are higher for any type of insurance.
If you have extremely bad credit, consider going to a credit counselor. Even if you are on a tight budget, this might be a very good investment. A credit counselor will explain to you how to improve your credit score or how to pay off your debt in the most efficient way possible.
To build your credit score, apply for secure credit cards. You decide in advance how much these cards will cover, so that you do not spend more than you can afford to pay back. This should help you manage your finances efficiently and build your credit at the same time.
Buy in cash. Credit and debit cards have made purchasing a thoughtless process. We don't often realize how much we have spent or are spending. To curb your shopping habits, only buy in cash. It will give you a visual to how much that item actually costs, and make you consider if it is really worth it.
An important tip to consider when working to repair your credit is to sign up for a credit monitoring program. This is important because for a usually low cost you can keep track of any changes to your account as well as be the first to know if there are any unauthorized activities.
If you are trying to improve a damaged credit score while under a considerable debt burden, consider contacting your creditors and having them lower your credit limits. There are two effects to lowering your credit limit. First, it prevents you from continuing to run up debt. Second, it improves your image as a responsible and trustworthy user of credit.

"EMPLOYEE CHARGED WITH TAKING FUNDS," Toronto Star. July 7, 1943. Page 2. --- Order's District Office Head Committed for Trial - $364 Involved ---- POLICE COURT CASES ---- "A" Court, City Hall, Magistrate Gullen. Charged with stealing about $364 over a period of months from the Canadian Order of Chosen Friends. with whom he was employed. John Watson elected trial by jury. He was committed for trial.
Arthur Powell, Toronto branch, supervisor for the organization, said Watson had been employed for five years. "Accused," he said, "was a district supervisor in charge of an office. His duty was to supervise collections on insurance premiums and also to sell insurance. Money was collected and not turned in."
PAYS FOR LOST BEER --- "B" Court, City Hall. Magistrate Prentice. While intoxicated, Melville Levique admitted taking a dozen quarts of beer from a cartage truck. He was stopped by the driver. E. G. Bevins, who told the court five bottles had been broken when Levique dropped it. Never in trouble before. accused was given suspended sentence on a theft charge, upon promising to pay for the beer destroyed.
With bail of $3000 renewed, James Melross, charged with dangerous and careless driving, was remanded to July 28 at the request of his counsel, who entered a plea of not guilty and elected trial by jury.
A charge of receiving was dismissed against Frank Crozier. who denied he had received any stolen watches, Mrs. Ruth Hersh testified. her husband's Bloor St. store had been robbed on June 24 of 11 watches, some cash and cigarette lighters, and she believed a watch she had purchased in Crozier's store yesterday was one of the stolen ones, due to an extra puncture mark on the wrist strap she stated she had made prior to its theft. Austin Ross, defence counsel, produced an invoice showing purchase of a large order of watches last October and called a member of a wholesale firm from which they were purchased to corroborate this.
GIRL STOLE WALLET --- "C" Police Court, at City Hall, Magistrate Woodliffe. Bernice Coutts pleaded guilty to stealing a wallet containing $288 from Mark Wong Ing last June 29. and Florence Peever pleaded not guilty. Both also pleaded not guilty to receiving the money. The Coutts girl was convicted and remanded a week for sentence, and the Peever girl was acquitted. The receiving charges were withdrawn.
Ing, a waiter in a restaurant at Yonge and Grenville Sts., said he went with the two accused to a downtown room. He had $295 in his wallet. Seven dollars of this he spent for liquor. Before starting on the trip. he said he took the precaution of jotting down the serial numbers of a $50 bill, some $20's and some $10's. He said he had some liquor, went to sleep. and on awakening, missed his wallet.
In a statement purportedly made by the Coutts girl and read by Det. William Simmonds, the accused admitted stealing the money. He said he found the $288 on her.
Convicted two days ago of stealing a large quantity of merchandise from a downtown department store, Mrs. Audrey Hanson was given suspended sentence for two years. She was caught with six shopping bags filled with women's suits, dresses, shoes, shirts, etc. She said she had been drinking.
George Henry Wood, father of three, pleaded guilty to retaining gasoline coupons not legally issued to him. and hindering and obstructing the oil controller by having illegal possession of gasoline coupons which were not valid. He was fined $100 and costs, or one month. and one month on the retaining charge, and one month on the other charge, the terms to run concurrently.
SEVEN DAYS FOR PAIR --- County Police Court, County BuildIng, Magistrate Mellveen "I'm going to make an example. of you and send you to jail for seven days." said Magistrate McIlveen to George Parker and Allan Varley, convicting them of obstructing P.C. Elder of York township.
"There's too much of this sort of thing in this district. It is the duty of citizens to assist the police in performing their duties, not to obstruct them," added the court. "I was trying to prevent a man from making a disturbance in a theatre. I took him outside and the two accused held me by the arms. There was a scuffle and I was kicked in the leg. I wasn't in uniform but I told them I was a police officer. They know me as a police officer," said Elder.

The first tent city that’ll house immigrant children opened in El Paso on Friday. Some families have been separated for months; some parents have been deported without their children.

Kids In Need of Defense partners with major law firms, corporations and bar associations to create a nationwide pro bono network to represent unaccompanied children through their immigration proceedings. Volunteers don’t need to have immigration law experience.
The El Paso-based Las Americas Immigrant Advocacy Center provides legal representation to immigrants who might not be able to afford it otherwise. It’s accepting volunteers and donations.
American Gateways provides legal services and representation to separated parents. It's currently seeking volunteers to represent detained parents who've been separated from their children.
