Robin Wall Kimmerer narrates the audiobook version of Braiding Sweetgrass, highly recommend that if the book becomes a struggle :) she has the most lovely voice and it’s nice hearing her narrate her stories
aw , thats cool :' ) thank u for suggesting, i always forget about audiobooks because buying/streaming them online and stuff feels weird. like £6 is too much for an audio file thing to me . but ill look for interviews or something, i think especially her talk at the royal botanical gardens which is on youtube !

Local libraries getting rid of physical medias such as newspapers, magazines, cds, dvds, and audiobooks is turning experiencing art into a privilege instead of a right but I don't think you guys are ready for that conversation
#the 95 year old lady who takes the city bus from the old folks home three times a week doesn't have spotify or a smartphone or a computer#how is she going to listen to her johnny cash cds#do you know how many kids I attended school with didn't have internet or wifi???#that wasn't even that long ago#they do not have streaming services stop getting rid of dvds and stop not buying new ones#also there are so many people who have a smart phone and the only thing they know how to do is call or text#if they want to keep using audiobooks let them! It's not killing you that they're not using libby#yes libby and hoopla and kanopy are great but the latter two have limited checkouts and the former usually has long waits#its not fair to expect older people and children learn how to use them if they don't want to or can't!#also magazines are basically unreadable online#so many girls will not be able to experience borrowing american girl magazines from the library because the library doesn't have magazines!#also don't even get me started on no newspapers#sorry I don't have the money for a monthly subscription to a newpaper guess I just won't know the news now#this is why everyone is getting fake news from twitter!#"but everyone has spotify and streaming services and audible and wifi and internet and smartphones and ipads and laptops#newsflash! they don't!#getting rid of physical media from libraries is actually very classist and ageist but people don't want to hear that#I love local libraries and think they are an amazing resource in so many ways#and that's why it hurts so much that they would leave such a large portion of their customers high and dry to maybe save a few bucks#rant#tags so long they probably could've been their own post lol

One small thing anyone can do to make their book recommendations more accessible is check really quickly that the book is also available as an audiobook, and make a note of that. It really sucks to be hyped about a book only to find out that it’s going to be difficult or impossible for you to read!

That Time Of The Month usually refers to menstruation but for me it's the day(s) my mom decides to tackle the bills in the most passive-aggressively confrontational way and my dad decides to be the most inefficient whiny martyr on earth who acts like we're oppressing him by asking questions about what charges are bc he doesn't tell anyone anything even tho he is not the one doing the bills every month.

(Are Sarah J Maas and Colleen Hoover problematic and, on a completely definitely unrelated note do spotify audiobooks profit the author?)

Going on a library ban effective immediately. Once I finish/return the books I currently have borrowed, I'm not getting anymore so help me gd. It is so stressful to me to have this many unread books in my home that I avoid looking at my shelves and therefore only read library books/audiobooks from Libby. Libby is included in ALAB (All Libraries Are Banned).

You don't know how grateful I am when blogs like this actually let us read the stories and don't just post the covers, thank you for that. I don't have a lot of picture books anymore but it still feels good to have any way to read them. I'm not an age regressor, I just come here because some of me mentally is still a child and that part finds these silly and amusing. I also kind of struggle to read (rarely do anymore is why, it's attention span stuff) so it's really nice seeing books that appeal to me that I can read
This sort of message makes me so happy! I'm glad people are enjoying this blog, in whatever capacity that appeals to them, especially if you like the stories themselves (❁´◡`❁) there's so many amazing picture books out there and I want to throw them at people and make everyone love them! (tho rip tumblr's image limit... i can rarely post a full story just a few pages;;;)
I'm not an age regressor either -- actually I didn't even realise that was a community that existed until I created this blog, but I'm under the impression that a few now follow me (hi!) -- I just really enjoy children's literature!
Also, re reading difficulties: I feel you! University kinda destroyed my ability to sit down and read books for a while, and kidlit is actually what helped me rebuild that skill, another reason I have a big soft spot for it (‾◡◝) I seriously encourage popping down to a local library and grabbing picture books or chapter books to read. There's some absolutely stellar children's lit out there, old and new at all levels, with great stories that are short, sweet, and move at a good clip. Great for people that like reading but don't have the attention span for a big novel!
(also no pressure but if you or anyone else happens to have picture books that you love and want to submit pictures of them, I'd love to see them! seeing the soft, worn books from someone else's childhood? seeing what makes other people feel all happy and nostalgic? absolutely the best thing ever)

I’m not like thaaaat close to finishing fallen star but it is getting there so I’m trying to set up midnight horizon so it doesn’t wash me out again and I am STRUGGLING to find an audiobook. It’s not at my current library, not unlocked on Spotify, at my old hometown library network it’s there but has a 2 week wait time, and it’s $5 more than the others on apple for some reason??? Argh why
Also: I was momentarily gratified because it’s average rating was a full star less than all the others in the series but then I saw the low comments are all ‘why does this have to be WOKE’ no not like THAT goddammit
