he's such a bad little boy. – hobie brown x fem!reader
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
"good little girl... always picking a fight with me."
he was pretty much the most annoying asshole you've ever met–he never took anything about you seriously, pestered you a lot for your height, your grumpy face, your sour mood, your little huffs and puffs in response to his provocation... it was all too cute to him when you'd pick fights with him and be all angry and aggressive as usual. he loved the little banter you two shared, the sleepless nights you two would spend together just running your mouths off at each to sleep–and being pampered yet teased by him all the same. he was the best, worst friend you ever had in the history of ever... and you didn't want to lose him, no matter how annoying he was.
"you know that i'm bad... but you're spending the night with me."
"back so soon?" you ask him as he climbs into your window with his spider suit still on, only taking the mask off once you let him in your room and slumps in your bean bag, smirking all the while. "your room's pretty comfy, like how... good little girls keep their rooms as." he teased, making you pout and puff your cheeks up. "is that supposed to mean something, hobart?" you asked with extra emphasis on his name, making him smirk and shrug. "hey, now, it's up for interpretation." he said with a chuckle, making you groan loudly. "well, at least let me play your guitar. maybe... smash a few simpletons' heads in with this." you murmured as hobie gently took your hands in his, correcting your finger positions on his electric guitar.
"what do you want from my world? you're a good little girl..." he asks you, with slight rhetoric, knowing you were never one to disobey the rules and let alone wish to play loud, 'obstructive' music that would bother the neighbors. you sighed and followed hobie's lead, strumming and playing the right chords he taught you.
"bad little boy... that's what you're acting like."
"can't i choose to have fun, hobart?" you asked him with sarcasm in your tone, making him laugh. "of course, you can have everything you want–that's what good little girls like you deserve, right?" he said as he gently let go of your hands and let you figure out how to play a melody you came up with on the spot on your own. "it's just that... i never thought you'd be rebellious. never did, never will." he joked as you gave him a flat, fake laugh, knowing full well he was serious about what he said. "like, i can be the intimidating-like, 'rebellious' bloke or whatever for the two of us, at least outwardly. i'll take the trouble for you, that's enough, innit?"
"i really don't buy... that you're that kind of guy."
"nah. besides... that kind of hobie everyone else sees isn't the hobie i know." you said as you tuned his electric guitar. he raised an eyebrow at you in intrigue. "go on, dear." "well... you may be a little brash, loud, and you love telling assholes in authority to kiss your ass... but you aren't a total blockhead. you have a heart, you care, and you... you aren't as mean and scary as everyone thinks you are."
"and if you are... why do you want to hang out with me?" you asked him in a partly rhetorical way of your own this time–making hobie pause for a minute to look at you, and soon, burst into a sweet smile on his face. he gently pecked your cheek and wrapped his arm around your shoulders, bringing you closer to him with a satisfied sigh. "i just love to be around my good little girl... can't that be enough?" "then you're lucky i like being around my bad little boy..." you said with a sly smirk as hobie grinned and kissed your lips gently.
you truly were his bad little goody two shoes, and he loved you dearly for it.

I would argue legitimately that Adventure Time has done a better time of aging with its audience than Harry Potter has. Like, that's the big praise that people give Harry Potter right? That the books both aged with the kids reading them and also the story took on new meanings as you got older? But really, Adventure Time did it better. On top of starting off as a "silly" kid adventure that matures into terms of first loves and loss and accepting that your parents can be imperfect and downright shitty and that the people you painted in black and white strokes in your youth are actually more than that and all the other the other adolescent life lessons... it changes when you watch it again as an adult.
Those lessons the show put in as signs of Finn just getting older and seeing more of the world end up being parallels for things even adults face. The hero's journey Finn goes on both faithfully follows the archetype but also deviates in the way it wants to let Finn be more fully fleshed out. The whole cast has moments of not being good people but but being complete people.
I've been rewatching it in prep for the Fiona and Cake episodes this week and last night my partner and I were watching Distant Lands. He turned to me and said "this isn't made for kids anymore.it's kid friendly but i don't think that's who they're talking to a lot of the times" And I gotta agree. Marceline facing that the trauma of her childhood was holding her back from healthy relationships as an adult?? Finn facing literal death and realizing he'd spent his entire life grieving and secretly waiting for the end and the existential dread of it all?? That's definitely more directed at the audience that has loved the show from the start and where they are in life.
Like, forget edgy adult animation that are just dick jokes and "randomness." Give me more animation like that's fine with making everyone, of all ages, laugh and embraces that everyone, even your childhood fairytale characters, get older and change.

Smiling Friends aside, what are some of your other favorite cartoons?
I'm getting into Regular Show. I like it even if most of the characters have the same kinda face. I've watched Adventure Time and Fiona and Cake I love both of those shows and would like to see Fiona and Cake again. LSP in that series is funny. I'm still in season 3? of Amphibia. I love it even if I feel season 1 was kinda dull but idk maybe that's just cause I love when the bigger over-arcing plot comes in. I've watched Owl House (yet another one I plan to rewatch with my sis). I have seen Gravity Falls and thinks it's kinda funny that universe is connected to both Amphibia and Owl House's worlds. But that's probably getting into spoilerific territory. I've also watched Steven Universe as you may know, I will probably watch it again because I'm still having a hard time remembering Future. IDK why it seems I forget about SU a lot? I also have seen OK KO which I thought was excellent. I love the jokes in it and how it's both lighthearted but also very action packed. I also plan to watch Craig of the Creek (I have seen some episodes and from what I've seen it seems like a fun adventure)... Oh and a lot more gorey-stuff, Metalocalypse. Although I'm really bummed out about getting a HBO Max subscription only to find out that it was taken down... so unfortunately I have to pirate it... with lesser quality and NO LYRICS. It's a bit disheartening honestly. I mean the show, yeah. But it's fun to see the fun antics of the boys in the band just dicking around. Like, yeah unfortunately it's just kinda one of those shows I put on for background noise sometimes lol. Because I'm not much for the gorey aspect of it, or flashing subliminal messages. On a side note, I'm glad that Dana Snyder got a role in Smiling Friends. I haven't really seen much Hunger Team Aqua Force but it surely is an acid bath that feels kinda nice. Like, idk what other way to describe it. I've also seen a smidge of Super Jail but WOAH NELLY I'm not sure I'm ready yet. Rick and Morty I've watched and really want to rewatch but IDK if this means that if I watch it on Hulu/Max if Justin Roiland is going to get subsidies checks every episode he's in. I think the new voice actors are doing a great job and I'm glad that Justin was replaced. I've also been watching Solar Opposites. That one I feel is a bit more lighthearted than Rick and Morty for some reason and I'm not sure why that might be. Maybe it's Terry's happy attitude? idk. Yumulac reminds me of Young Sheldon (a live action show I have heard of and haven't watched much of I KNOW I DON'T JUST WATCH CARTOONS SHOCKING!!) ... Anyways I'm not sure about investing in MLP anymore just because I really enjoyed gen 4 but ffs I do not want to support Tara Strong anymore and for shame. She voiced a lot of cool characters. I was a big brony back when it came out, or pegasister, whatever... Also Also... Egoraptor/ Arin Hanson in Owl House just made my heart do flips. Like I looked up to him for a while and wanted to make animations of my own but I'm not sure what animation to make yet. Probably smiling friends stuff?? idk maybe just a reel of some sort. I'm sure I'll think of something (rambling at this point...) Ah dang... I forgot to mention that I watched a lot of Simpsons on cable with my family when my Dad was still alive so it kind of holds a special place in my heart, even if I don't or haven't really watched the newer seasons. Futurama holds a special place in my heart because me and my sister watched it when we were both going to college. So funny how time works. Disenchantment was pretty great too. It doesn't need to be any longer. Love a great sapphic story. Everything else about that show too. Now that I'm thinking about it, that whole world reminds me of the Enchanted Forest in Smiling Friends. Heh. Futurama didn't really need to come back recently, I don't think I've even seen all the episodes. BUT Animaniacs did their reboot better. The anime-style episode was top-knotch.

Reccomendations for cartoons to watch include: Gravity Falls, Adventure Time, Regular Show, the later seasons of MLP Friendship is Magic (for the sake of completing it and being able to properly evaluate the show), Steven Universe, DuckTales 2017, OK KO, Big City Greens, Star vs the Forces of Evil, Moon Girl and Devil Dinosaur, Kim Possible, Hilda, Helluva Boss, Scooby Doo Mystery Incorporated, She Ra 2018, and the Ben 10 franchise.
I actually still have another ask that is mostly this same list but I think Hilda and Helluva Boss are new. Mostly responding because something I find interesting about myself given how ruthless I can be with TOH is that, well...
I probably will never truly be able to be some big reviewer because when I start disliking something, I drop it. That's actually the big reason I'm responding is because there is NO WAY I am watching the like 4+ seasons of MLP:FiM that I didn't watch because I just can't engage with stuff I dislike. I find no joy in it and while I can rant for a couple episodes, it just loses my interest.
I never seek things out because I think I'll dislike them. I just don't think life is enjoyable that way. It's why I have no plans to return to Helluva Boss. I absolutely believe people would potentially send me asks about it with how polarizing it is but I got to the episode when Moxie and Blitzo are interrogated, went "Ah, I see, the two characters I hate the most and don't even find funny (Stolas and Blitzo) are the actual main characters and the pilot was potentially kind of a lie for what the real focus of the show is. I'm out." And I haven't watched an episode since. My brain struggles to click with media after all so why would I bother with media I actively know I dislike already?
I'll comment on a couple others that I have at least had experience with on the list in a minute but since Amphibia, I've watched the first season of Craig of the Creek and think that show is just AMAZING. There's at least one episode I keep wanting to do a blog on just because it exemplifies how much the show understands the wonder of fantasy and childhood without actually being fantastical. I've also seen S1 of SpyxFamily and some of S2 but right now the only streaming service I have consistent access to is Hulu (the Disney+ I was borrowing cancelled theirs to swap to Hulu) and they only have S1 dubbed of SpyxFamily.
I'm hoping to sometime soon actually watch Over the Garden Wall finally and just have been kind of a mess as of late as for why I haven't yet. I've heard only good things, and shockingly few spoilers, and it's about time I gave it a proper shot.
ANYWAYS:
Steven Universe: Watched the first episode and only really liked Greg so just didn't bother watching more. Steven was fine but I actively hated all three of the gems because of how brain dead they were in both segments of the episode. As far as pilots go, I think SU might genuinely have one of the worst I've ever seen for convincing you to like a main cast.
Gravity Falls: I rewatched the first episode recently and went "This is oooookay." Something about Dipper's VA just bothers me. Not like they're doing a bad job but that it falls into an uncanny valley my brain doesn't love. I really wish I could better explain why that show refuses to properly click for me.
Regular Show: I forget why but I've seen a few episodes. It's not bad but I don't think it's really for me. I find Rigby and Mordecai annoying more than anything else. Not awful but I think without it feeling like they're actually meant to be learning something, they fall into the trap Randy and Howard from Randy Cunningham fell into eventually for me where I was like "Okay, assholes can be fun for a while but if that's all you're ever going to be, I don't care."
Adventure Time: I have seen as many episodes where Fiona and Cake show up in that show than I have Finn and Jake. XD I have genuinely liked what I've seen and just for some reason never sought it out. Maybe someday.
Star Vs: I need to give S2 a chance but MAN when I got told they break up Marco and Jackie for NO REASON I lost a lot of interest in the show. I like Marco more than Star, and I've only seen S1, and thought Marco and Jackie's relationship was genuinely really nice and kind of unique. Also knowing it's most people's cartoon punching bag doesn't exactly fill me with enthusiasm for it.
Kim Possible: I remember rewatching the pilot a couple years ago and being shocked by how much I didn't care for Kim. I think the fact that Bonnie is the only one who gives her shit but she's actually just genuinely amazing at everything and liked by most make her just not compelling to me which is a shame because I have REALLY fond memories of the show. I'd probably commit to a rewatch of Danny Phantom first though since it has been just as long since I watched that.
(Weird fact: I was looking at Hulu's unfortunately limited amount of cartoons and saw they had Kick Buttowski of all things which is WILD to me.)
She-Ra: I've seen literally one episode, thought it was good, and definitely is one of the ones I keep telling myself to watch because everything about it seems like it'd be up my alley. These are also my thoughts on Voltron though with how much... less divisive that last season of Voltron is, it's definitely below watching Princesses of Power.
Ben 10: Loved the original series as a kid, tried the first two spin offs that came out and didn't really jive with either but I thought Julie, the tennis girl Ben gets with, was super cute. I know a friend who would LOVE to see me get into Ben 10 and do some reviews of it.
And just as an anime shout out, a part of me is still tempted to give Little Witch Academia another try. Not only is it just an obvious next show for me to watch but it's one I REALLY want to like because I like a lot about it... I just absolutely despise Akko from the like four episodes I watched a good number of years ago now. I thought almost all of the supporting characters were great though.
Just... Consider this my weird, rambly blog late at night about cartoons and the fact that I do wish I engaged with media better. One of the worst elements of it is that I don't engage well with scripted content well if my brain isn't already in an alright place. Like I don't go to television for distraction and cheering me up. I vastly prefer streams for that as I can actually turn my brain off during those normally. It's something I've talked about before and something I'd like to change. Heck, I even at one point had a therapy goal to watch something at least once a week since that'd still be easier than streaming or writing. Whoops. *sigh*
I do also appreciate the recommendations! The reminders are good sometimes since I don't feel like I actually stay in the loop all that well. And since I kind of assume this is the same person who sent a list before, I decided I felt like actually responding, especially because the MLP pitch is an interesting one but man... That's a LOT of Starlight Glimmer I'd have to put up with when just like six episodes of her as a good guy made me want to light both her and Twilight on fire to put them out of their, and mine, misery. That's without me getting into the fact that I just think the characters in general got worse by then, almost like series shouldn't last for that long because finding new angles on characters becomes REALLY HARD (says the dumbass with a series of his own that honestly is longer than he should reasonably plan a story for.)
Again, late night rambling while my brain deals with suddenly snapping out of a hyper focus on a game for three days and doesn't deal with that well. *sigh* Have a good night everyone, take care of yourself and see you next tale.

So I’ve been rewatching Adventure Time before I watch the new Fiona and Cake show, and I knew it got more into character studies as the show progressed, but man, I forgot how deep it went into Princess Bubblegum, a character who—on name alone—you’d think would be the most joke character of the lot!
Because at the core of it, she’s a control freak. She’s an ageless immortal…thing with next to no concept of her own nature, determined to manhandle a utopia out of her own substance and image.
And for all that she’s never really decided what she is, what any of this is. She wants to be a child, who has slumber parties with all her friends. She wants to be a mad scientist who pushes the boundaries of knowledge and creates as she pleases. She feels she needs to be a tyrant, who watches her subjects’ every move. She feels she needs to be a god, who decides who lives and dies.
Are the candy citizens her subjects? Her buddies? Her children? Her worshippers? The little paper dolls she plays with? She sure doesn’t know! Hell, it’s halfway implied they’re only such idiots because she’s been coddling the entire civilization since it’s inception, the few times we see one of them break out from under her thumb they almost immediately become functioning, independent individuals—see Cinnamon Bun, instantly the champion and trusted confidant of a rival monarch!
I’d say you can easily make the interpretation that the whole monarchal structure of Ooo, with its litany of titled Princesses, exists downwind of this one immortal living out a childish fantasy of a dead world. She is the progenitor and prototype of the entire social structure of the continent! No wonder she’s so brazenly interventionist against rivals that seem both and neither sovereign polities and friendly gal pals.
And what’s striking about this characterization is she only sort of changes! She decides at several points to stop playing god, to dismantle the panopticon, to try to grow up, only to backslide within the year. And why wouldn’t she! A habit of multiple centuries ought to be had to break.
I really wish they’d done more with the arc of her getting deposed by the King of Ooo. His first appearance at Tree Trunks’ wedding was one of the first big displays of Bubblegum’s raging need for dominance. What really happens when you wrest control from the control freak who’s been used to having the world as her playpen?

Adventure Time👀👀👀???That's ultimate fave cartoon, infodump me your thoughts pls!!
I don't talk about it a lot but I really do love Adventure Time, not just as a cartoon, but as a story altogether! I'm currently rewatching it in chronological order, and I have to say that the animation style has come a long way. I'm excited for the Fiona and Cake series too!
Anyways I'm gonna rant about Princess Bubblegum for a bit. I like her so much. From her intelligence, to the way she reacts, to the way she dresses. I love smart characters who also dress really cute. I also think it's funny how Bubblegum and Marceline are the only two characters whose outfits change with every episode, meanwhile all Finn will get every so often is a new sweater or something. I think it's super fun when cartoons do that.
I know people don't like Bubblegum, but that is kind of the point of her character. She's not a good person in the beginning, and for most of the show! This gradually grows more obvious throughout the show when we see her interact with more characters, and as more of her backstory is revealed (the way she used Finn's affection to get what she wanted, how she turned her "family" into the og candy people, her relationship with Marcy, her entire backstory in general, that whole Thing with Flame Princess).
It's only when she loses it all, when she takes a step back and reflect on the messed up things she's done, that's when we see her character truly develop. We see that while yes, the things she has done are messed up, we also see she is still a kind person and genuinely wants more for the candy people. At the same time, she came into a position of power at like. 13-14 so we also see how she is still quite immature in many ways. So it's not entirely surprising to see how she got to this point. All in all, she's a pretty well-rounded character.

Another edition of What I’m Consuming for you to consume.
What I’ve Been Consuming 05/13/20
Look, we are not heroes for staying home and watching ungodly amounts of tv, but it’s the smart thing to do. So let’s all be smart while calcifying our brains with movies, tv, video games, comic books, Zoom meet ups, the FUCKING INTERNET that contains the entire collection of human creation and knowledge and our favorite snacks. I’m settling in with Flaming Hot Cheeto’s popcorn, Pork Rinds and the occasional edible with my favorite cocktail. I wash all this down with my nightly dose of Simvastatin, my cholesterol medication.
Also, let’s get out and walk around since it’s beautiful weather right now. This is especially important for those of us in the Midwest who were blessed with snow just last week!
TV
Recently finished the Amazon series Hunters. It was good, but looking at it as a whole it seemed  to be holding something back. The characters felt like they were supposed to be larger than life and more bombastic, but they were instead subdued. Even Al Pacino is reserved. Was it a comic book adaptation or an inspired-by-actual-events type show? it was a compelling story somewhat overshadowed by not being sure what kind of show it wanted to be.
Midnight Gospel! Oh my god where to begin? This is simply great tv. The rhythm of the show sets in super fast and all you can do is hold on for the duration. I’m nearly done with the season and it’s deconstruction of philosophy and life and death are pretty timely, but never preachy. Just sit down and enjoy. Best served with a side of your favorite marijuana infused edible.
The new limited series RUN from HBO quickly got me hooked. It’s premised on two old lovers who have a pact to meet again if one texts “RUN” to the other. After 15 years one texts the other and our story begins! It was no struggle for me to dive into this show since I’m already well along in my Merrit Weaver addiction. She has been a spoonful of sugar with a side of cake in shows such as Godless and Unbelievable. I’m making room on my calendar now to watch her in Nurse Jackie and I’m super embarrassed to admit that I had no idea she was Denise in the Walking Dead. Ok, enough about Ms. Weaver, Domnhall Gleason is in this show too.
I’m rewatching Watchmen because it was one of the best shows of 2019. It is great to see Damon Lindelof stick the landing like Simone Biles on this one. It was completely engrossing in every way.
For a much needed salve of humor in these times Middleditch and Schwartz is absolutely sting free healing. It’s a short three episodes and all three episodes are solid, but one and two are the best.
Killing Eve is back and I couldn’t be happier! So so happy to have all of these characters in my life. So so sad at what happens to them.
Quick Bites - Last Week Tonight with John Oliver is still living its best life. Real Time with Bill Maher not so much. Still keeping up with Homeland, but season 5 is not the best. The Westworld  season finale wrapped up a wobbly season with a solid if forgettable final episode. I miss the heady hard to understand first two seasons. Props for some good action sequences this season though.
I need to get back too… I started Lock and Key a while back and lost it somewhere in the ether. Also, an FB convo reminded me to get back to Doom Patrol. I never finished Counterpart either. (Looking back at my post from last moth I see that I also mentioned getting back to Counterpart then too, so it’s probably safe to say I won’t be getting back to it.) Not sure if these shows were good or bad or just not coming at me the right way. Oh, oh! Devs I do want to finish that, but yes I do agree with others comments that the main character’s acting is… not the best.
MOVIES
The Apostle - Starring Dan Stevens from Legion, The Guest and Downton Abbey this movie starts out a bit slow, but winds itself up to a flat out bonkers ending. Worth watching with the lights off and no bathroom breaks.
I started the great Korean action flick The Villainess, but I fell asleep before finishing it. Can someone call a movie great if they fall asleep during it? If that someone was absolutely thrilled by watching the opening sequence then yes, yes they can.
GAMES
Still finding myself indulging in the occasional Mario Kart binge. Also got some friends together for Bomberman which is frivolous fun. Spent a few hours back with Mario Odyssey too. Purchased Child of Light a few days ago so I’m hoping to get to that soon.
BOOKS/COMICS
Not much in the way of books month. In the comics world I did start JoJo’s Bizarre Adventure, but was thrown off by the revelation that the book I’m reading, which is marked book 1, is actually part two in the story. Shrug emoji.
I did finish the first trade in the Outcast series from writer Robert Kirkman, now superrich and superfamous creator of The Walking Dead  and not so famous, but no less talented, artist Paul Azaceta. It is filled with great dread and atmosphere. It does not wrap up the story in the first trade which always irks me.
MUSIC
I was excited to see that Fiona Apple’s new album “Fetch the Bolt Cutters” came out! Then I listened to it. And listened to it again, and then listened to it one more time. It is an uneven album that frustrated me with how many songs are filled with the same refrain. I love the music, the writing not so much. That being said Under the Table, Rack of His and For Her are repeat listens for me.
Drake dropped a new album/mixtape called ”Dark Lane. Demo Tapes” and so continues my love/annoyance with Drake’s music. Listening to  Drake’s music is like being in a 60+ year marriage and still being very much in love, but absolutely hating how your partner chews with their mouth open.
RANDOM NOTES
I discovered Coco Rico soda in a local Asian Market. It’s a lovely sweet coconut beverage.
As mentioned earlier Flamin’ Hot Cheetos Popcorn is becoming my new go to snack. Move over Doritos Cool Ranch because Chester Cheetah is here!
I was in a good running routine and then it started snowing and raining all the time. Back to the couch for me.
That about sums it up for this month. Don’t be afraid to skip your next work Zoom meeting. The work will be there tomorrow.

Saw the Adventure Time finale! Legally, on release day. I keep repeating that because it’s so novel.
Anyway, I did a live reaction thing, and here it is under the readmore.
I already saw this opening but it's pretty cool. It'd watch that show.
Wait, which one's Shermy and which one is Beth?
...Oh, the small one is Shermy.
This reminds me of the Adventure Time pilot with all the new stuff out of nowhere that's not explained.
Wait, so Finn does lose his arm forever? Aw.
The "King of Ooo" is like 100% BMO.
Ah that fake beard is adorable.
Good old Fredphil
Narrator BMO recapping the leadup to this episode with perfect clarity.
Did Gumbaldia have citizens? I forgot. Should have rewatched the Gumbaldia episode.
I hoped Marceline would be against the war because she already lived through one apocalypse, and I'm glad she is. Also, nice Mushroom War flashback with all the fire!
I would not have known what the nightmare juice was if I hadn't seen it referred to in spoilers. Apparently he got it in Orb?
Shoko cameo!
Oh, they died? Okay, finale over, that was great!
I don't know why Finn thought transporting them to a dream world would help, but I guess it is helping... something
So that's where Fernadactyl came from.
It's cute to see Jake/Jermaine bonding even if Jermaine is probably not actually there.
Finn's tormented too, Fern!
Yeah, what he said!
What. (In relation to the drip-a-drop scene)
The scene with the nightmare fart is only slightly less what.
Oh, are they still fighting?
Wait, are they fighting the grass curse now? Why?
Okay, bye Fern, hello again Finn sword.
Bye Fern... for good? Okay? Would you say this grass curse thing was keeping him alive, but making him crazy?
Whatever your name is! Older lady! How could you! And I think the characters may have forgotten that the potion is reversable? LSP reversed it in Elements. She could probably do it again if she had a reason.
The world has clearly not ended in your time, come on Beth.
Great job, Normal King Man. Also, hi GOLB.
Yay Simon flashback!
Don't harness all that dank energy, Simon. That sounds like a bad idea. And Betty giving him a concussion by accident had better not be foreshadowing.
This already feels like two stories stuck together, and the second's barely started.
So that's the context of Marceline saying "this is a war I have to fight".
Oh, Cake is in this? She's gained some weight. And turned pink.
Why is Ice King still there? Everyone else ran away. Maybe he's daydreaming about harnessing all that dank energy.
Does farting jellybeans from your hands ever helped in this series? I think it helped, like, once? Maybe twice?
So what I'm getting from this scene is that Oh Fiona was originally about Betty?
Bye Maja.
And there's where Finn lost his hand. And apparently never got it back.
Nice evil magical girl transformation, Marceline.
Oh, PB's powers saved her.
Oh, here it is. The Bubblining.
Oh no, it wasn't her powers, it was her armour.
And kiss! I was spoiled to that, obviously. But it's still great to see.
Simon's there again!
(Spikes the crown)
Jake using his powers to their full extent was great, despite how long it lasted.
Calm down Jake, the treehouse gets destroyed all the time.
The Song. That's a context I didn't see coming.
Petrigrof hug
Oh, is Golb's power reduced by singing?
Oh, by harmony. That actually makes sense.
How do they all know the words?
Well, Finn, Simon and Betty are about to die. Killing off Finn is a depressing way for the story to end, but-- Oh.
Wait, why is Finn still missing his arm is he’s being reverted to his original form? How far does that go?
Betty listen to Simon and leave the crown.
You should've listened to Simon, Betty.
Wait, doesn't the crown respond the user's deepest, truest wish? Why does Betty get to choose?
And now she's Golb.
Gunter taking after his namesake. Or... something.
Finn: Let's go to the treehouse for Fern's last wish. Jake: (sweats)
Fern didn't have to die, come on. Neither did Betty, actually.
Actually, why isn't Simon dying anymore? It's not really that different to last time the crown stopped Evergreening him.
Fern turned into a willow tree? Okay, cool.
Hey, it's Sweet P! He's all Billy now! That's cool.
Music Hole's voice sounds familiar.
Oooooooooooooooh (in response to the opening Come Along With Me chord playing)
Ending montage.
Gunter/Turtle Princess? Okay.
I'm not used to hearing this song not being jarringly interrupted on "tree".
TV's a detective now? That was unexpected.
Oh Simon.
Cool, Tiffiny didn't die at the end of season seven after all.
Ice King Gunter makes me very uncomfortable.
Also I wish Peppermint Butler had been changed back. Poor PepBut.
Yes! The series ended with the humans finally showing up! I'd been hoping that since the finale was announced!
That's a great end scene with Shermy and Beth mimicking the end scene of the opening credits. Especially with the Finn sword.
Aw, the chords from Time Adventure play over the credits. That's nice. I guess using Come Along With Me would've been weird.

Q
Q - A fandom you’ve abandoned and why.
Well, one is Adventure Time. The last time I tuned in was for the “Stakes” slough of episodes because it was about Marceline and revealed her relationship with her mother, touched on her connection to Simon (if I’m remembering right,) and she’s one of my favorite characters. That was like… what? Two years ago? There parts about Adventure Time I appreciate and I have some comics and met some wonderful people through it and there are still “earlier” episodes of Adventure Time I enjoy and may rewatch but I noticed a common theme… Aside from the Fiona & Cake episodes, all of the episodes I liked, Rebecca Sugar wrote or directed or did the music! So, when I found out she was getting her own show together I immediately went, “Well, she had a hand in my favorite episodes, I should check out this pilot for her show they have online!” And thus the beautiful obsession with Steven Universe began.Don’t get me wrong, I was still watching Adventure Time while Steven Universe started up and was running, however, without Rebecca directing episodes here and there, I felt like Adventure Time went back on a lot of character development I had considered my favorite part of the show and (while I know its general kookiness was a part of the show from the beginning,) I felt like that nonsensical… attribute of AT took over and there was barely any smidgen of substance left to the episodes. There were still some standout episodes I saw or later on I kind of saw the ripples of across my dashboard for a little while, but… I fell away from the AT fandom mostly for the sudden reversal of character development once the Crewniverse was fully formed and Miss Sugar was dedicating her time and effort to SU and how it felt like it was lost and wandered into a bit -too much- without a purpose and was just kinda of strange for the sake of being strange? That’s just my opinion though. A couple of days ago, my sister actually sent me a trailer for a new AT episode that reveals that Finn might NOT be the only human still in Ooo? “Worth watching?” she asked. My response was, “I’m not sure I… really care?” So if that doesn’t give you a small insight…
The other fandom I have sort of abandoned at this point has been Homestuck. For that one, I mostly would blame the infamous “Giga-Pause” as I think it was called. I still haven’t seen or read the ending. I still have a lingering affinity for Homestuck, again, I’ve met wonderful people through it and there are aspects of it I really enjoy! (Plus it was where Toby Fox first piqued my interest with his music alone and eventually, knowing his name and his work led me to the other love of my life: Undertale!) But, you can’t really expect an entire fan base to support a webcomic that was ragingly popular in the same diehard way when you don’t update for over a year… I guess Homestuck just… fell off my radar and I felt a little hurt by that huge hiatus. I mean, yes, don’t force or nag a content creator to deliver to your whims but… c'mon! That and I’ve read the controversy (between WhatPumpkin and The Odd Gentleman,) but I’m still kind of bitter over the sluggish development of the game. I helped support the Kickstarter for that game when it was first announced but I only had enough money at the time to fund it enough to earn a digital copy of the game when it came out… I didn’t get the other tiers where they sent out other prizes which is what they seemed more worried about at the time than the actual game? Plus I wasn’t too thrilled to find out that AFTER everyone put their money into this Kickstarter, that it was revealed that it wasn’t really going to involve any of the characters we’d come to know and love through this sprawling webcomic and I know I wasn’t the only one who wasn’t too jazzed to hear that. I told myself a little after that, “Well, if you were just playing the comic, you’d already know what’s in store and what fun is that? So I guess it makes sense they’d give you new characters and everything and stick to the similar concepts and ‘universes’ that Homestuck generated.” That rationale and hope for the game was probably over three or four years ago.
