Am I slightly obsessed with dragon AUs? Maybe. Maybe I just really like dragons. So have another prompt.
Danny and Tucker have decided to reincarnate together in an entirely new world. Which isn't a new thing with reincarnation for beings such as them, but honestly they're a little tired of being humans or human-adjacent beings.
But they don't want to just be an animal either. They're Ancients after all, and can afford to be a bit prideful in choosing a form they'll hopefully spend at least another eighteen years in.
The forms they've chosen? Why dragons. It fits their power sets so well, and honestly it's something new for them! And well, Sam would join but it's her turn on the whole council thing since the Realms doesn't exactly have a king anymore.
But they have to make it through the whole... egg thing first. Which on one hand, dragon eggs are practically indestructible and it's free nap time! On the other, they can't exactly defend themselves besides whatever natural magical things might surround them.
Which is why it's so annoying that some assholes decide to steal them. They're literally stuck as eggs for at least a few months more, preferably a bit longer so they can be certain their new bodies are strong enough to hold their true power. Or at least the small fraction living bodies can hold.
And they aren't some gemstones! Honestly these people are also idiots and- oh, hey, someone is attacking the whole smuggling operation thing, thank fuuck... .... Oh hey, fellow undead! Yeah, hey, dude that doesn't feel full of greed and is maybe a bit angry but that's normal, yeah you! Hey get them out of this box! Yeah!
Jason on the other hand, is having a very What the Fuck sort of night right now.

Everlasting Trio DP x DC Nobody Knows AU Part 8
Part 7
Shockingly, it turns out Danny knows how to cook. He's good at it, even, and when Tucker expresses his disbelief at the practiced way Danny moves in the kitchen Danny snorts.
“You know what the Fenton kitchen was like. When I got out of there and had access to food and kitchens that weren't biohazards, I learned eventually. I have a very distinct appreciation for good food nowadays, and I like being able to make it myself.”
He puts music on through a little Bluetooth speaker on the counter, invites them to participate, and they cook.
It's fun. They dance, they drink, they sample ingredients as they put their pizzas together. There's a minor flour war that sets off rounds of giggling and shrieking - more importantly it makes Danny cackle in a way she used to love and hasn't gotten to hear since they were teens.
It's exactly the same, and she missed it. Pure impish delight and mischief.
For as many things that are the same, there are ones that have changed.
Danny has a grace to him now that he didn't used to, and he moves near silently. He sways easily and elegantly to the music without thinking about it as they talk and make mischief with each other.
The oven and the adjusted thermostat make it much more comfortable in the apartment after a while, but Danny doesn't shed the pullover sweater he wears at any point. He didn't even roll the sleeves up to cook.
Come to think of it, when they entered high school he started doing that too. He wore long sleeves even in the summer - Sam tries not to think about abusive households or self harm. She hopes it's not that, but…
She puts the thoughts aside as well as she can.
Tucker had mentioned it before to her, but with all the grinning and laughing tonight Sam can see that he was right and Danny's teeth are sharper than she remembers. All four canine teeth are almost startlingly pointy.
She doesn't mention it. What she does mention is the apartment.
“This is a really nice place, Danny. You got a secret sugar daddy you haven't told us about?”
Tucker gapes at her and smacks her arm. Danny bluescreens for a moment before he snorts an ugly laugh and descends into near hysterics.
“Oh my God! Ancients, no! No, no sugar daddy. Just a well paying engineering gig lately, and some money I saved up before I left Amity. Holy shit, Sam.”
She shrugs, some tension she didn't know she was carrying leaving her shoulders. “Had to ask. Would have had a shovel talk to deliver.”
Danny starts laughing again, and Tucker groans and puts his head in his hands.
“I cannot believe you actually just asked him that,” Tucker moans.
“I can,” Danny responds with a chipper grin, Tucker's answering snort overlaid by the ding of the oven timer.
Danny knocks back the rest of his drink and waves in the vague direction of the living room area.
“I'll take this out and cut it. Go sit and we can eat it around the coffee table in case we want to watch a movie or something?”
The sitting area is spacious and comfortable, couches black leather. There's a heavy, fluffy white throw over the back of one that looks soft as all get out, but she and Tuck quickly decide to settle on the floor.
The coffee table is low enough that it's more convenient for reaching food and drinks set on it.
Tucker whistles appreciatively at the TV, so it must be a cutting edge new model. Fucking nerd.
Danny trots over not long after with two serving boards balanced precariously on one arm, his refilled sangria in one hand, the pitcher of sangria in the other and another beer held against his side by an awkward elbow.
Tucker and Sam both shoot to their feet to try and mitigate a disaster, but miraculously it all makes it to the table unharmed.
“It's almost like you guys don't trust me,” Danny pouts, his grin ruining it. “Careful, it's hot.”
“You are a perpetual accident waiting to happen,” Sam tells him scathingly, and he snorts with a peculiar look on his face.
“You don't know the half of it.”
As they all reach for slices of pizza, Danny takes them by surprise by taking a piece of Sam's, not Tucker's.
Tucker gapes at him. “Dude. Tell me you haven't betrayed me like that.”
Danny snorts, shoulders shaking with quiet chuckles. “Nah, I still eat meat. It's just sometimes I have spells where it kind of bothers me and I feel a little sick about it? I'm in one of those lately, but usually I'm still a huge burger and steak guy. Don't worry.”
“Huh. That's weird.”
Danny shrugs, taking a bite of his pizza despite his own warnings and cringing when it burns his mouth.
“Been like that since high school, actually. Used to be worse then,” he mumbles through his attempts to cool a mouthful of molten cheese.
Sam doesn't remember him ever having issues with it in middle school. She wonders what happened to change his outlook, but puts it aside. They're here to hang out and catch up. Have a good time. Not interrogate Danny.
They end up spending hours watching trashy TV and heckling the screen, making small talk and letting each other in on bits of their lives all the while. Everyone's well on their way to tipsy by the time they're done eating, though Danny a little more than Sam and Tuck.
He's loose-limbed and happy, sprawled across both of them in the haphazard pile they've ended up in. He seems incredibly content, and it does Sam's heart good to see him so relaxed.
She and Tucker are sitting with their backs against the couch, Danny's legs slung across Tucker's lap and head in Sam's. It's probably why he notices her shiver a little - it's still a little chilly in the apartment.
Lazily, he points up at the back of the couch. “You can pull that down and cover us if you want. It's really warm.”
Sam offers him a quiet thanks and reaches up to do just that, though she's startled to find that though the top is fluffy, the underside of what she'd thought was a throw is velvety and smooth. Like hide.
It's a real fur - hopefully ethically sourced. Decorated too, there are ornaments threaded into the corners and dangling that she can't pin the origin of. They're very pretty, shells and claws and beads.
As she pulls it down, she flips the edge up to peek at the underside and is startled to find the skin a distinct, familiar ectoplasmic green.
“Um. Danny. What kind of fur is this…?”
“Yeti,” Danny replies offhandedly, sipping his drink before freezing like the question and his own answer just caught up to him. “Uh.”

Weird/Unusual Crossover time?
Weird/unusual crossover time! ദ്ദി(˵ •̀ ᴗ - ˵ ) ✧ (oh shit~! She's back on her billshit!) (That's RIGHT! Nothing is sacred and NO ONE IS SAFE!)
ANYWAYS~
Danny Phantom. Cultivation Novels (my current obsession). A match made in hell? Or an exciting new adventure‽ Cause like... the Zone DOES go EVERYWHERE, right? Infinite means Infinite means "Literally Without End" Infinite.
As in, Forever.
You COULD, in fact, pick a direction and just... keep going. Forever. For always. Without end or limits. The Zone is not just "really, REALLY big and we need a word your mind could comprehend." Not "as big as a galaxy or the known universe". It is? On a scale that even GODS can not comprehend.
The place GODS go to die. A place they are BORN from. The great primordial soup where universe end and begin anew. Where the cracks are glued backed together, and the souls of the living flow in and out. Endless scraps of fabric, realities, atop a churning sea of green. Keeping everything even.
After all... you can't CREATE a soul. They got to come from SOMEWHERE. Where do you THINK they arrive from? When populations grow? Thin air‽
But... ah~, there in lays the rub, doesn't it? Would knowing the Zone? Knowing SOME of it's mysteries and machinations (for NO ONE, not even all the Ancients COMBINED, can ever claim to understand even a fraction of them all.) mean that Danny??? Was powerful in a Cultivation reality?
He's certainly a powerful GHOST.
But?? They FIGHT ghosts all the time. Wouldn't he be WEAKER and more in danger? As they try to hell the restless spirit move on? Not knowing he is balanced between life and death? They could very well kill him.
Which, given the moral standards of the Realm? Would NOT be viewed as a bad thing.
But! On the OTHER hand?
He is a ZONE ghost. Not a simple spirit. Far beyond what they are used to dealing with. Arguably? ASCENDANT. From a higher plane of existence. A lower one. Several steps to the side. He is, for all intents and purposes, shrimp colors to the human eye. The color blue to a blind man. An orb to the two dimensional.
CAN he even interact with the world's cultivation systems? Does it recognize him as a god? A dead man? Some sort of ascendant dead god?
Something... Not Right™
Yet still utterly natural? Clearly not meant to be here. Yet... not wicked. Granted, not, perhaps, benevolent. But...
Because what IS he? Is he a boy? A man? A corpse? Immortal, perhaps? Is this creature a demon? The resentful dead? They DONT KNOW! It... probably scares a lot of them. Makes some of them think he is a test. Probably makes OTHERS wanna fight (friend? Hey! New friend!).
And like? Why would Danny even BE there? He's already immortal. The swords are pretty cool... but he has Fenton tech.
So, WHY?
I propose?
His well know Anger Issues. His fear of becoming Dan. He's heard meditation is good for shit like that, right? Mindfulness and stuff. Sam recommended it. And? They were watching Fantasy Kung-fu 17, "bamboo monks of vengeance" (now with more slow motion aerial battles). So he was like? Hmmmm... those misty valleys and mountains shots DO looks relaxing... I could go camping...
Maybe find a mysterious old kung-fu monk? Is that what they are? Tucker. Tucker! What's the name of this genre again? Xanxia. Yeah. That! I'll do the whole "live, laugh, love. Hot girl, cultivation summer" thing! That'll fix my shit! This is a GREAT idea!
Thus? Danny. Terrorizing some poor Xanxia Cultivation world with his Zone Ghostiness. Pretending to be a human... very, VERY badly. Yes, hello Fellow Locals! It is him! Average Human Man! Take me to your *checks notes* Cultivation Sect! *smiles with far too many teeth*
#nailedit he's gonna get SUCH a good job at blending in! A thing that is both real and possible to achieve!

Danny thought today was going to be a calm day. No ghost fights, well maybe some but easy ones at least. Summer was slowly coming up so the days were getting hotter. Sam thought it the best time to get ice cream. He remembers what brought up the whole thought to begin with.
They were hanging at the park just after the last small fry was souped. Another ectopus making havoc with the local town. Thank every ancient that his parents are out of town for the weekend. It was too hot that his ice barely cooled anything. Sam and Tucker meet up not long after he puts the cap on the thermos.
"Man, it's hot today. I can't wait to chill back at home. The air conditioner will be heaven." Tucker complained as he shook the collar of his shirt. Sam huffed as she pushed the sweating teen away. "Pft, how about we all get ice cream?" Danny hummed before shrugging. "I don't see why not, it's a pretty hot day. Might help."
Tucker cracked a smirk before elbowing Danny. "Can you even eat as a ghost? Bet you some nasty fries you can't eat the most ungodly ice cream combo." Danny transformed back to his human form before nudging Tucker back. "Oh yeah, I bet you my next nasty burger I so can too" Sam dead paned at them, "Boys, boys. I know you're both pretty, but how do you expect to get ice cream without any money?" Tucker looked over at Sam with pleading eyes. "Oh, come on Sam! Can you please get us ice cream? Please, please, please, pl-"
Danny looks at the two and shakes his head. "I can pay for some ice cream. Mom and dad left me and Jazz something for food over the weekend." Sam sighs, "Fine, but I'll get most of them." She jabs a finger into Tucker's chest. "That means you are buying your own tho." Tucker waved his hand. "Pff, I get it. But we gotta see if Danny can still eat as a ghost. And my bet of course!" Danny rolls his eyes. "You're on dude."
________Time Skip___________
Once more a ghost Danny and his friends all sit in his living room. Ice cream tubs sit strune about still in grocery bags. Tucker found a limited addition bacon flavored ice cream. Sam bought a mix of popular and strange ice creams. She was eating chocolate ice cream as tucker put three of the weirdest combos together.
Danny sat waiting. "You done yet dude?" Tucker chuckled as he finished fully mixing it. "Yeah, here!" He said as she thrust the bowl in Danny's face. Danny takes one look at the green ice cream and shrugs. It wasn't the most pleasant thing he ate, but it's not half bad. With a sharp grin he finished the ice cream in three bites. Thank the ancients for ghost powers.
"Aww, man." Danny chuckled at Tucker. "Better luck next time dude. I've eaten worse." "That's still not fair, you didn't even get a brain freeze!" Sam growns, "Did you forget he has ice powers?" Tucker crossed his arms with a huff. "Noo."
"I wonder what would happen if ectoplasm was mixed in?" Danny broke in curiously. "What?" He looked up. "Dude, that's gross" Tucker murmured with a grossed out expression.
Sam humes. "Well, You kinda need it to live too. Maybe we can try to make it into ice cream some other time." Danny smiled softly. "Guess we can test that some other time. Pass me the mint chip tho." Sam complied.

Night Vale Summer Literature Camp au
(Dpxdc w/ a dash of wtnv)
Brief plot setup / background: Danny and Damian are twins, they were both trained to be co leaders of the loa. Danny and Damian had a very rocky relationship before coming to live with the Wanyes because of the fact that Danny had "specialized training", which was really Danny being experiment on with Lazarus water. During these experiments Danny and Respawn met, Danny for a long time considered Respawn as more of a brother to him than Damian, they still consider each other brothers but now Danny actually considers Damian a brother. One of the experiments done on Danny was an attempt to replace his blood with Lazarus water which made him need to drink a shit ton of Lazarus water for his body to keep producing blood, which is also how he managed to survive the portal accident of this au. On the summer of their 14th birthday (I headcannon their birthdays to be during the summer) Danny had begged their father to let him to go to a literature summer camp in a small town called Night Vale with his friends, Sam and Tucker, a program which lasts the entire summer. Bruce is reluctant to let him go because of the whole Lazarus water thing and so is Damian because it would be the first time they would be without each other for longer than a few days, but eventually other members of the family and other leaguers convince Bruce to let him go because Danny might develop an unhealthy dependency on them if they don't let him be independent.
As it turns out a whole class from a school called Casper High would be attending the camp as well. Chaos insues when Danny, Sam, Tucker, Jazz, and Jazz's cousin, Pearl, find an ancient portal underneath the town accidentally turning it on causing Danny who was standing in it to turn into a halfa, now the portal is premently turned on letting all kinds of creatures through.
(Sidenote: I have yet to listen to the actual Welcome to Night Vale podcast, the portal underneath the town came from me. I'm thinking about changing the town to Amity or just let it be a random ass town because of this. No WTNV characters will appear Night Vale is just the setting.)
Here's some fake tweets to go with this.

Half-Lives
Something is wrong with Jason Todd.
That's not new.
Someone having answers about why... that might be. Someone maybe being able to help... that definitely was.
Danny just hopes its not to late. -----------------------------------------------
First ever fanfic! Read on Ao3 here: https://archiveofourown.org/works/48120073 ----------------------------------------------- Chapter 1/? Danny didn't think he liked Gotham.
Oh, it was easy enough for him to avoid getting mugged, or shot, or involved in whatever chaos was happening on a given night. Invisibility was a great way to stay out of trouble, so long as he was careful. Nothing like walking around a corner and literally disappearing to lose a tail. He tried not to use it too much though. Tried to make sure he didn't blip out of existence on camera or in front of witnesses, or do anything else that might get the wrong sort of attention. So the ever present threat of crime was stressful, in a nagging background noise sort of way, but he could live with it. Or, well. Not Live with it.
Half-way live with it. But the weather in Gotham was horrible. It rained. A lot. Or drizzled. Or it was foggy. He’d thought that maybe the weather wouldn’t be so gloomy in the middle of Summer, but it was. Even worse. It was gloomy and hot. Heat wave or no heat wave, the city was way too warm for a place with this much cloud cover. All the rain and the mist was just making things unbearably humid. Even days when the clouds had cleared out for a bit, the smog was still there. Hanging around like a stuffy blanket, smothering the city. Choking out the sky. It was hard to see the stars in Gotham. Danny wished he could just fly up over the city, out of the fog and the haze. Just to hang in the clear air and stargaze. Lose himself in the star speckled universe and forget things for a while. But he couldn’t. That would be stupid. As much as he wanted to. As much as he felt like he needed to.
He needed to stay low profile. Use his powers sparingly. Carefully. Gotham had quite a lot of natural ectoplasm. Not anywhere near as much as Amity, but… well. Amity. It was enough to hide his ecto-signature, so long as he didn't go overboard. A bit of invisibility or intangibility was fine. Stuff like that didn't use enough power to show up on ghost hunting equipment at anything but point blank range, and if someone got that close he was in trouble anyway. In theory, flying didn't use much power either, but he couldn’t risk it. Not above building height anyway. Who knew what kind of crazy radar or lidar or whatever was scanning Gotham’s airspace. Batman seemed paranoid like that.
So he was stuck at ground level. Which, at the moment, meant lying in bed in his stuffy, dingy apartment, with his shirt sticking to his skin, and trying to figure out how to get a job. Thank God or the ancients or whoever was listening for Sam and Tuck. Without them, he wouldn’t be able to do that either. Wouldn’t be able to lay here on his cheap mattress and think about the awful weather, and the gloom, and how much he wanted to go flying. The apartment, and what little spending money he had at the moment, was from Sam. She’d apparently been setting aside money for years, building up an emergency fund in case something happened. She’d paid for the little apartment for a few months in advance, so he had some time to figure out what he was going to do next. The funds were going to run out eventually though, and he needed a way to make money on his own. Fortunately, he had ID, courtesy of Tucker. Very good, very fake ID, that absolutely did not say he was Danny Fenton from amity park. ID with just enough of a background and personal history attached to it to get him an apartment, and hopefully pass muster for a job interview. He also had a phone! A phone he could use to look for a job, and order food, and navigate through the labyrinth that was Gotham city without getting hopelessly lost. A phone that was subscribed to BATWATCH and the Gotham Emergency Alert System, so he could stay as far out of the way of the local vigilantes and their rogues as possible. A phone he didn't dare contact Sam or Tucker or Jazz with, in case someone was watching to see if he tried. He didn't know what he’d do without them.
Without them, he probably wouldn’t have made it out of Amity Park at all. He didn't want to think about that. The weather wasn’t the only off putting thing about the city either. Something kept almost, but not quite triggering his ghost sense. Whatever it was, it was weak. Very weak. Barely even a buzz above the background noise of the city’s own ectoplasm. But whatever it was felt… wrong. Wrong in a subtle, crawling sort of way.
He didn't want to think about that either.
So. A job. He didn't qualify for a whole lot. Couldn’t go for anything fancy, or anything that would look too far into his background. Which meant he was probably stuck with manual labor, food service, or retail. Or… well. Crime. This was Gotham. But he wanted to avoid that unless he got really, really desperate. Manual labor was probably out. He was more than strong enough in theory, but unfortunately he looked like a twig. Most people would probably take one look at him and laugh him off. And if the skinny twink started lifting things like he had super strength, it would get him labeled as a meta at the very least. Or worse. He’d made a list of stores and restaurants near his apartment to look into. A few of them were hiring, but he wasn’t sure being a cashier or shelf stocker was such a good idea. The idea of spending his entire work day under a camera made him nervous. Cameras tended to glitch out around him. It would be fine for a few minutes at a time as long as he was in human form, but the longer he stayed in the frame the worse the system would bug out. Somebody would notice that they were only glitching around him eventually, especially if they kept having the same problem even when they were replaced. And if someone was looking for the distinctive kind of anomalies that ghosts tended to produce on film, he may as well just paint a target on his back.
And someone was looking.
So. He needed a job that would keep him off camera as much as possible, that wouldn’t require lifting things he shouldn’t be able to, that didn't require any special skills or degrees, and that wouldn’t do too thorough of a background check. And that was legal. Hopefully. He was thinking of trying to do delivery. It had its own problems. For one thing, he didn't have a car. Or a bike. The bike he could get, he had enough money for that. But Gothem wasn’t the most cyclist friendly of places even if he could avoid getting it stolen. He could get around on his own fine, even without using his powers much. If he was willing to run rooftops, he could probably manage just as well if not better than any car could in the city traffic. But he didn't think that would go over well in a job interview. And there were other people running roofs in Gotham. People he’d really prefer to avoid. He hadn’t been able to think of much else he could do though. It was frustrating.
He wanted to fly. He couldn’t risk it.
Danny groaned. It was way too hot to be thinking about this tonight. He wanted to just roll over in bed and sleep, and leave worrying about the future for the morning or whenever he woke up, but it was too hot for that too. He had showered before bed, but he already felt sticky and unpleasant in the humid, slightly musty air of his tiny apartment. So he was left tossing and turning around trying to get comfortable on the crappy mattress, and trying NOT to think about why he had to be here at all. Which wasn’t working. He needed something to do. Lying here trying to sleep wasn’t doing him any good. It was just too warm.
He needed a fan.
He probably should have gotten one already to be honest. Danny just hadn't thought about it when he’d done the bare bones shopping for stuff to put in his apartment a few days ago. He did have money left over, and it’s not like it would be expensive, he could get one. Maybe there was somewhere close by that was open late enough to visit. Getting out of the apartment might clear his head, and it wasn’t like he had something better to do. He pulled out his phone. A quick google search showed a 24h CVS relatively close by. It would take him a while to get there on foot though. The mattress made a testy sound as Danny pulled himself off the floor, and then stood up and walked to the window. The low clouds outside were stained a muddy orange color by the city lights, but it wasn’t raining. The forecast had said it wouldn’t, but he wasn’t sure he trusted the weather report here yet. He looked up at the roof of the building next door. He hadn’t actually tested his theory about being able to move around faster above street level. He should probably give it a try to see if his delivery idea would even work. Checking BATWATCH showed no vigilante sightings so far, and there hadn’t been any emergency alerts tonight. He’d probably be fine going out roof running for a bit. He went to get his shoes.
_______________________________________
Patrol had been quiet. Oddly so. Jason didn’t like quiet. Quiet should be good. Quiet meant things were calm for once. Meant Red Hood didn't have to start breaking kneecaps to remind people that his turf was supposed to stay quiet. Crime alley was never what anyone would call peaceful, and it never stayed calm for long, but tonight had been unusually violence free. It made something in him itch. He wanted to think it was just the heat wave. It had hardly seemed to cool down at all the last few nights. The whole city had slowed down in the muggy heat, including the less upstanding citizens. Nobody wanted to be out dealing with this any more than necessary. But if there was anything that Jason had learned in all the time he’d spent in the city, it was that Gotham didn’t do quiet. He kept waiting for the other shoe to drop. But things were still going easier than usual. Most of the usual suspects were still in Arkham, (for now) the gangs were lying low, (for now) Batman was staying out of Jason's business, (for once) and everyone else was too damn miserable to bother making trouble. Jason hated it. He needed to do something. Needed to fight. Needed to move. Needed something to take his mind off Bruce, and the pit, and how damn quiet everything was being. He felt like that a lot, these days. Like he was trying to crawl out of his own skin. He could probably go on coms. Probably should go on coms. Ask if anyone else had found anything, or if they needed help. He could ask if Tim had made any progress on his case, or if Dick needed any help patrolling Bludhaven. He could just ask if someone wanted to get a burger with him. But somehow, he just... couldn't. Part of him just didn’t want to deal with them tonight. Not when he was already frustrated and cranky, and the pit was a whisper away from rousing. Not when they knew he was frustrated, and would be watching him from the corner of their eye the whole night, waiting for it to happen.
He didn’t think he could deal with that right now. Not with the way things had been going.
They probably didn’t have anything more interesting to do tonight than he did anyway. He did want that burger though. He had barely eaten before going out on his rounds, and that had been a while ago. And his gear was uncomfortably warm. He wanted a shower. Somewhat reluctantly, he started heading back towards his closest safehouse. No point in staying out just to be miserable. He might as well change into civies and go get something to eat. Jason grappled through the alley behind the place, dropped down onto the fire escape, and crawled in the window. He made sure to re-arm the traps and alarms behind him before moving deeper into the room though. He still felt on edge, and he wasn’t about to be careless, no matter how quiet it seemed.
Talking the damn helmet off felt wonderful. Peeling off his gear and climbing into a cold shower felt even better. He stood there for a while, letting the water cool him off, and tried not to think about anything in particular. It didn't work all that well.
Eventually, he managed to shut off the water, and dragged himself out of the shower to grab some fresh clothes. He did feel better now that he was clean and somewhat cool, but he still felt restless. He needed a distraction. And that burger. Jason sat down on the lumpy couch, and started lacing up his boots. It might be nice to go for a ride. Something icy cold ran up his spine. One of his alarms beeped. There was someone on the roof.
That wasn’t necessarily concerning. Lots of people could be found on the roofs in Gotham. Especially in the Bowery and Crime Alley. They were often safer than the streets, and plenty of folks used them to get around, especially the kids. And this building was almost empty, except for him. It was unlikely someone was attempting to break in. There were other reasons someone might be up there though. His building was higher than most in the area.
There had been... problems, before.
He checked his cameras. There was a young, scrawny looking guy with black hair standing near the edge of the roof, overlooking the street. Not encouraging.
Jason shivered again, feeling cold for a moment, in spite of the hot night air
He got up and headed for the stairs. _______________________________________ Running across the roofs felt nice. Nicer than slowly stewing in his room anyway. It felt nice enough that after a while, Danny had kind of stopped keeping track of where he was. He thought he was still going in the general direction of the CVS, but he wasn't sure exactly where he was relative to it. That was fine. He didn’t mind exploring, and the air out here was a bit fresher and cooler than it had been inside. He wanted to wander for a while. He’d never actually done this kind of free-running before. Amity park hadn’t been big or dense enough for it. It was kind of neat. He’d been trying to see how much he could do without using any of his powers to help. So far, it was hard enough that he had worked up a light sweat, and complicated enough to keep his mind off other things. He paused for a bit to catch his breath on a building that stuck up a few stories above the surrounding roofs. It had a view down one of the busier streets in the area, and he took a minute to look out over the city.
There were so many lights here. Way, way more than there had been back home. Streetlights and traffic lights and lights from the buildings. Cars and businesses and apartments, and the looming constellations of the towers downtown. Yet somehow, the city still felt darker than it should have. Gloom and shadows clinging to the space between lights like it was trying to snuff them out. It was pretty. In a slightly ominous, chilling kind of way. He shivered a bit. It almost looked like stars. “You ok up here buddy?”
Danny almost jumped out of his skin. It took a moment of concentration to make sure he actually came back down from said jump, instead of floating off the roof, and a moment longer to realize the embarrassingly high pitched yelping noise that he'd just heard had come from him. “Woah woah sorry!! I didn't mean to scare you!” Said the very concerned sounding man on the roof behind him. The man who had just snuck up on him. On Danny. The half ghost with super hearing. How the hell “Good God warn a guy! You scared the life outta me!” Danny sucked in a deep breath as he turned to look back across the roof, and oh dear lord he’s built like a tank pleasedontthrowmeoffthebuilding No one that big should be that sneaky. It went against several laws of nature. And possibly physics. The dude looked like he might be taller than Da- than Jack Fenton, and almost as buff. And kinda hot. And surprisingly contrite looking. “Sorry.” The guy winced a little, raising his hands slightly. “Bad habit. I wasn’t trying to sneak up on you.” He shuffled his feet a bit while Danny tried to get his heart rate back down to normal levels, (well, normal for him) and Danny caught him glancing down at something behind him. “What are you doing up here man?” “Ah, sorry! I can leave! I didn't mean to trespass or anything I was just… I needed to get out of my apartment and it was cooler out here and it seemed safer up here than down on the streets” And Danny was rambling. Great. He was probably trespassing on this dude’s roof, he sounded like a lunatic, and he was pretty sure that was a gun hiding under his shirt. “I wasn’t trying to cause any trouble!” Tank-Man waved him off. “Hey no, no it’s ok. Lots of people use the roofs in the alley. It’s more common than you’d think.” (The Alley. Danny had wandered into Crime Alley. he was on a roof with an armed guy in Crime Alley.) He didn't really look like he was gonna shoot him though. In fact he looked very concerned. “So you’re just out for some air? No other reason?” And he kept glancing behind Danny, and… oh. Yeah. He was standing on the edge of the roof, on the tallest building in the area. Shit. “Oh, no. Nothing, nothing’s wrong. Well, I mean there’s plenty wrong but nothing like…” he should just step away from the edge. Yeah. “Sorry. Wasn’t thinking about how that looked.” He took a few steps towards the middle of the roof. “I just, needed to get out and stop thinking about stuff for a while.” Tank-guy relaxed a bit, and Danny did too. “Yeah, I hear ya. Couldn’t sleep?” “Too hot. No AC and I don’t have a fan yet.” “Oof, yeah. Rough.” He looked Danny over for a second. “You new in the area? You don’t sound like you’re from Gotham.” Danny answered without thinking about it to hard. He had a tuft of bright white hair. Oddly familiar white hair. “Yeah, just moved in a few days ago.” “Ah, bad timing then. Heat’s been brutal this week.” He looked sympathetic. “It’s not normally this bad” Oh shoot, he'd been starring. “Well, that’s nice to hear.” Danny looked back out over the city, hoping that he wasn’t coming across as awkward as he felt. There was a brief pause. Mission failed. Way to go Danny. “Where’ you from?” Shit. That was not on Danny’s list of safe small talk. “Uh, I moved from out of state. Nowhere important.” Please don’t ask. No luck. The guy looked even more curious now. “Why’d you move to Gotham ?”“I, uh…” Danny faltered. “It… seemed like a change of pace.” He got an incredulous look and a chuckle for that. “Change of pace.” he almost looked impressed. “Yeah that’s a change all right.” Yeah Danny probably deserved that. “I just… I needed to get away from… stuff back home.” A lot of stuff back home. Stuff he’d been trying not to think about. “I was looking for a fresh start.” The roof went quiet for a moment. When Danny glanced back over at the guy, he found him watching him. He had pretty eyes. For a moment, he looked uncomfortably analytical, like he was figuring Danny out. Then he just looked kind of sad. “Yeah. I guess it’s good for that.” Danny’s stomach growled. Loudly. The guy’s eyebrows went up, and Danny felt like he might have died of embarrassment if it hadn't already been too late for that.
“Sorry.” He was apologizing a lot, wasn’t he? “I forgot dinner.” He had technically forgotten lunch too. And breakfast. He didn't actually need to eat as often as most people, and it was easy to ignore hunger for a while when he was busy. It tended to sneak up on him.
There had been other things on his mind for the last few days.
… “You want a burger?” “Uh” Very articulate Danny. “What?” “A burger. I missed dinner too. There’s a place down the street.” Ok wait. Time out. Going somewhere with the hot dude who had snuck up on him on a roof was not in the plan tonight. He was hungry though. Danny hesitated. His stomach growled again. Roof Guy looked amused. Danny let out a breath. Might as well just roll with it. “Sure. Why not.” Took another breath, and held out a hand. “My name’s Danny, by the way” Roof guy smiled, and shook it. “Jason.” _______________________________________ Jason quietly opened the access door to the roof, and stepped out into the muggy night air.
The possible intruder was standing on the edge nearest the street, looking concerningly melancholy. He did a quick threat assessment. Small. He had a surprising amount of muscle for looking so thin, but probably not physically a match for Jason in a fight. No weapons he could see. Looked about Jason’s age, with short, unruly black hair. Dressed in worn jeans and a NASA t-shirt that looked like it had seen better days. Looked like he’d seen better days in general. Definitely didn't look like a burglar. “You ok up here buddy?”
And the guy on the roof very nearly fell off the roof, and Jason flinched and tensed to lunge forward and catch him. “Woah woah sorry!! I didn't mean to scare you!” He must be more off his game tonight than he thought! He should know better than to startle somebody like that. Bruce had taught them better He had been trained to make noise around civilians, especially ones who were standing on the edge of roofs, Jason!!! “Good God warn a guy! You scared the life outta me!” The man, who had fortunately not fallen off the roof, pulled in a deep breath and turned to look nervously at Jason. Up close, he looked even scrawnier. Like a light breeze could pick him up and blow him away. He also looked like he hadn't slept in a week. It wasn’t quite Tim levels of bad, but there were still dark circles under his eyes.
He was also eyeing Jason like he was afraid he was gonna tackle him. Not an unreasonable assumption in Crime Alley.“Sorry.” Jason said. He raised his hands a bit and tried to look relatively non-threatening. “Bad habit. I wasn’t trying to sneak up on you.” He was still standing way, way too close to the edge of the roof for Jason’s comfort. “Ah, sorry! I can leave!” The stranger started stammering. “I didn't mean to trespass or anything I was just… I needed to get out of my apartment and it was cooler out here and it seemed safer up here than down on the streets. I wasn’t trying to cause any trouble!” “Hey no, no it’s ok. Lots of people use the roofs in the alley. It’s more common than you’d think.” It was. Just not on his roof. Climbing up here from the nearby buildings was a bit out of the way for someone just getting around. “So you’re just out for some air? No other reason?” He didn’t seem like he was here to do something drastic, but he still wanted to get him a bit farther from the edge. He still looked nervous, but the question seemed to confuse him a bit. Then he seemed to realize where Jason had been looking, and he suddenly looked alarmed instead. “Oh, no. Nothing, nothing’s wrong. Well, I mean” He paused a bit, and looked worryingly strained. “There's plenty wrong but nothing like… Sorry. Wasn’t thinking about how that looked.” He finally took a few hurried steps away from the edge, looking like he was trying to reassure Jason that he wasn’t gonna fall, or jump, off. “I just, needed to get out and stop thinking about stuff for a while.” And wow, yeah, he looked tired. “Yeah, I hear ya.” Jason could relate. He’d just been looking for a distraction, any distraction, to avoid thinking about his own problems. Looks like he’d found one. “Couldn’t sleep?” Roof man sagged a bit, somehow looking even more miserable. “Too hot. No AC and I don’t have a fan yet.” “Oof, yeah. Rough.” Jason had been slowly melting all day and he had a fan.
He took a moment to look the stranger over. He didn't think he’d ever seen him before, but something about him seemed oddly familiar. Some faint feeling of de'javu. Maybe it was the hair and the eyes, which, yeah. They were blue. Oh boy. He didn’t seem like he was familiar with the area though. There was something about his accent… “You new in the area?” He guessed. “You don’t sound like you’re from Gotham.” “Yeah, just moved in a few days ago.” “Ah, bad timing then. Heat’s been brutal this week. It’s not normally this bad.” And Jason was going on about the weather now, because he was clearly a master of small talk. “Well, that’s nice to hear.” The guy looked away awkwardly. Great. “Where’ you from?” That was a bad question, apparently. He was looking nervous again. “Uh, I moved from out of state.” His feet shuffled on the roof gravel. “Nowhere important.” Sounded like he was a ways from home. Maybe even from a small town. That had to be one hell of a culture shock, moving to any big city, let alone this one. “Why’d you move to Gotham ?”
“I, uh…” He seemed unsure how to answer that. “It… seemed like a change of pace.” “Change of pace.” Gotham? Really? “Yeah that’s a change all right.”
A wry look crossed the guy’s face at that. But then it shifted again, and he was looking back out over the city. “I just…” He stopped. Gathered himself for a moment. “ I needed to get away from… stuff back home. I was looking for a fresh start.” He sounded so, so tired. A fresh start. Yeah, Gotham could be that, if you were tough enough to survive here. Lots of people who came to Gotham were running from something. “Yeah. I guess it’s good for that.”
He wondered what this kid was running from. God. A scrawny, black haired, blue eyed kid down on his luck, with a mysterious past. He could never let Bruce see him, he'd be adopted on the spot. The stranger’s stomach growled. Jason raised his eyebrows, and the guys ears turned red. He smiled sheepishly, and chuckled. “Sorry. I forgot dinner.” That was… concerning. He didn't look like he should be missing meals. Well. Jason had been hungry. “You want a burger?” “Uh” He looked startled for a second. It was kind of cute “What?” “A burger. I missed dinner too. There’s a place down the street.” His stomach growled a second time, and the ears went even redder. Definitely cute.
Jason watched him debate something for a moment, and then his expression turned wry again. “Sure. Why not.” He turned fully towards Jason, and held out a hand. “My name’s Danny, by the way” He grinned, and shook it “Jason.” Danny’s hand was Ice cold.

While I love a good DP x DC, I feel there is so much potential with a DPxPJ crossover.
Danny's summer is looking to be pretty boring especially with his friends not in town. Tucker is heading for a tech filled summer camp, while Sam's Grandma Ida is taking her on a road trip while they rally and protest across the country (Sam's parents think she is going to etiquette camp). So Danny is complaining about how boring his summer is going to be to Clockwork. ClockWork (who I see as being an aspect of Kronos) decides to chuck Danny into Camp Halfblood. The camp think Danny is just another halfblood maybe a child of Melinoe or another underworld god especially with some of the things he says. FYI Jack and Maddie are still his parents and he is wholly human, people at camp and even the gods are making assumptions. I think Danny would be very powerful and even be able to take on a god. I mean he did subdue Pariah Dark and put him back in is coffin, where in cannon it took about 7 ancient ghost to do that. I think at first Danny would be a little angry at CW, but at least his summer is not going to be boring and he rolls with the camp's assumptions. Because let's be real here Danny likes to troll people.

Gotham's Black Rose
Dpxdc fanfic Sam is Bruce Wayne's daughter, adopted by the Manson family. Everlasting Trio, toddler Ellie. Pharoah Tucker, Witch Sam, Space Ancient Danny. And Cujo too.
Chapter 2: Comfort and Planning
The last thing Sam wanted right now was for cameras to be flashing in her face or for reporters to be shoving mics at her. Shoving past the crowd yelling questions she didn't want to think about right now, Sam made her way towards the street.
It didn't take long for Danny to show up, motorcycle roaring down the street. His ice blue eyes glared at the noisy crowd, and they hesitated long enough for Sam to escape.
She jumped on, wrapped her arms around his waist and buried her face in his shoulder. They pulled away from the event without a single word to her parents - adopted parents apparently- which was for the best. Sam didn't even have words for them anymore.
-
Danny pulled into the Foley driveway with ease. Tucker sat on the patio, laptop open to live broadcast of the Manson's adoption reveal, and Ellie sat in a specially designed play pen with puppy Cujo.
"How's Sam?" Tuck asked, muting the video as Danny walked over.
"Oh you know." Danny said. "She's confused, disappointed, scared."
Turning around, Danny gently shook Sam onto Tucker's open arms.
"What a mess," Tucker sighed. "How do you just forget to mention that?"
"No idea man," Danny said.
The only one of them with a decent childhood was Tucker, and he's got horrible past-life memories of a Pharaoh's life in Egypt to process.
"I'm gonna curse them," Sam said. "They'll never be able to keep a secret ever again,"
"You know that's gonna have more consequences than you want to be responsible for," Tucker said.
"I know," Sam said. "...Pamela will always drop her pearls and Jeremy will never find the right cufflinks Pamela wants him to wear,"
"Petty," Danny said.
Sam nodded against Tucker's shoulder, before lifting her right hand, a twisting purple energy pooling in her palm. With a snap the magic vanished, off to fulfill its purpose on the unspecting Manson couple.
Ellie squealed in the pen, clapping her hands and chanting "magic! Magic!"
"So you've cursed them, what do you want to do now?" Danny asked, sitting on the grass.
Sam sat up, relocating to sitting on the stair and between Tucker's legs. Tucker ran his hands through Sam's hair, enjoying the company of his small family despite the heavy topic at hand.
"I want to know who my biological parents are," Sam said. "I want to know why I was put up for adoption and I want to move to Gotham as soon as possible."
"I can get us transferred to a Gotham high school for our senior year," Tucker said. "We're already accepted to Gotham University,"
"I can have me and Ellie packed by this weekend," Danny said.
"It's the last month of summer vacation so it's going to be a bit of a rushed transfer, I'll follow in my jeep, it's going to take me a minute to pack my office up,"
Sam let the boys plan their move, their voices a comforting background to her swirling emotions.
Ellie would know where she came from, no matter how complicated a story it was. Sam could see it, five years from now, they'd sit her down at the dinner table and explain an evil scientist tried to clone Danny, and instead Danny got an Ellie and she's been their daughter ever since.
Why was family so complicated?

~
Danny lay on his bed staring up at the ceiling, feet idly kicking the air as they dangled off the side. He listened to his phone ring, anxiety settling in his stomach. He'd already tried twice that day to get a hold of Jazz with no luck. He knew she was busy, but he couldn't help the little voice telling him his parents had gotten to her first. The phone was two rings away from going to voicemail again when she picked up.
"Hey, bro! What's popping?"
Danny snorted, laughing at her choice of slang words. Ever since getting to college, she'd been trying her best to sound cool and he was beginning to suspect Mr. Lancer had given her one of his 'how to be hip' dictionaries. "The only thing that should be popping, is you popping open a real dictionary."
Jazz sighed comically. "There's that younger brother sarcasm I've missed."
Danny rolled his eyes, a faint smile on his face. "How are you, Jazz?"
"Oh, I'm fine. The summer semester is kicking my ass. I've got seven essays, two research projects, and a group presentation all due by the end of the week, but, yeah, I'm fine."
"Jesus, Jazz, do you even have time to breathe?"
"I do right now. I'm sorry for missing your other calls. Is there something going on?"
"I understand you're busy. Nothing crazy, I just, uh, have Mom and Dad talked to you at all?" Danny chewed his bottom lip so hard he tasted blood.
"No," Jazz snorted. "The last I heard from either of them was a few days ago and all Dad sent me was a cat meme on Facebook. I figured they've just been too busy with ghost hunting to check up on me." The frustration in her voice was tense like she couldn't decide if she wanted to be sad or mad. She cared about her parents, but she harbored a lot of resentment about how the two of them were raised. "Why?"
He breathed a sigh of relief. "Good, cause I wanted to be the one to tell you that I've decided to go to college."
Jazz screamed. Danny ripped the phone away from his ear, only daring to bring it back when he couldn't hear her anymore. "Danny! That's amazing! Where are you going? What program are you doing? What convinced you?"
"Well, I had a talk with Mr. Lancer-"
"I knew he'd come through for me," Jazz whispered under her breath.
"And," Danny chuckled, "he was talking about this program here at Amity Community that I kind of liked. After some thinking, and admittedly a little pushing from Dash, I-"
"Dash? Dash Baxter? Since when are you two hanging out?"
"Uh, I haven't told you about that? Never mind, not important right now. I, well, I decided to be an astronomy teacher. A professor if I can swing it."
Jazz screamed again. "That's such a good choice! It's so you! Oh my gosh, my brother, a professor!" She gasped. "We can share our theories about classroom behavior now! This is going to be so great!"
Danny felt a huge wave of relief hit him, shaking a lot of his parents' disapproval off. He sighed, "Thanks, Jazz. I'm glad you think so."
"Mom and Dad didn't take it so well, huh?" Jazz's voice lost a lot of its excitement, a hint of bitterness glazing over it.
Danny glared up at the glowing stars on his ceiling. "No, not really. They're mad at Mr. Lancer for even putting the idea in my head. But, Mom said it was a start and I'll for sure want to change my major to biochemistry by the end of the semester when I've realized what it is I've gotten myself into."
Jazz hesitated, her voice careful. "And Dad?"
Danny's heart constricted. "He's just glad they have at least one genius kid."
"I'm going to lose my shit." Jazz hissed, knocking something over. "This is why I don't come home for Christmas. Don't listen to him, Danny. He should be proud of you. If he knew of half the shit you did in his lab, he would be proud. I'm proud of you."
"I miss you, Jazz." He sat up, resting his elbows on his knees. "They were a lot kinder when you were around."
"Only cause I had to kick their asses anytime they said some bullshit about you." Her voice softened. "I miss you too. But, hey, look at how great you're doing without me."
Danny laughed. "Yeah, but how much better could I be doing with you?"
"Oh! Speaking of old inside jokes, how are your, um, extracurricular activities going? Wink."
"You don't have to say wink." Danny jokingly rolled his eyes.
"Then how will you know I'm winking?"
"You're such a dork."
"I know you are but what am I?" Jazz laughed. "But, seriously, how are things going on the spooky side?"
Danny took a deep breath, flashes of the night before entering his mind. He stood up to pace his room, hoping to shake them off. "Uh, good, good. Just the usual. The ghosts might be on vacation, there have been fewer attacks lately. So, that's nice."
"You hesitated. Danny, you know you can tell me, right? I wouldn't ask if I thought I couldn't handle it."
Danny exhaled, long and low. "Okay, they were," he swallowed, his breath shaking, "They were dissecting a ghost in the lab last night. She was in real bad shape when I found her."
Jazz gasped. "Was it someone you knew?"
Danny shook his head, briefly forgetting she couldn't see him. "No, but, God, Jazz, she, she couldn't have been older than sixteen. She wasn't even a threat and they had her- she was completely, her arms were covered in-" Danny paused to take a deep steadying breath. "It was bad. She was in a lot of pain and the house reeked like they'd been at it for hours."
Jazz's voice carefully held no emotion. "What happened? Did they say anything about it?"
"Not to me. I got her out without them noticing. When they got back to the lab and found out they argued for a minute before I interrupted them." He stubbed his toe, hissing at the contact.
"That's- I'm so sorry you had to go through that. Do you, maybe, wanna talk about how you're feeling?"
Danny sat back down, twisting the sheets in his fingers. "Not really. I kind of want to forget it ever happened."
"Okay, that's fine." Jazz took a breath, then forced a teasing tone to creep back into her voice. "Then maybe you can explain this photo of you and Dash Baxter that both Tucker and Sam sent me."
"What?" Danny sat up straight, panic settling into his veins. "What photo?"
"It seems like a movie night at Sam's. You're asleep on his shoulder and you two look pretty cozy."
"That was an accident! I didn't mean to fall asleep. Okay, but, listen, I have to tell you about Dash." He proceeded to tell her everything from the beginning, how he had stopped messing with them a few years back, how he patched Phantom up, how Danny invited him to hang out, the whole story up til yesterday.
"So, what I'm getting out of this is that a pretty jock boy said thank you and you fell in love with him."
"I'm not in love with him! Why does everyone keep saying that?" Danny huffed, face warm.
"Uh, 'cause you're acting like it."
"I just, think he's cool. You know, I've mixed these feelings up before with Sam. This is probably just the same thing. I don't like him, I just think he's cool."
Jazz giggled. "Danny, please, I never heard you talk about Sam the way you just talked about Dash. You totally like him."
"I don't think I do. I mean, I do like being around him, a lot. As both Fenton and Phantom. He doesn't really act different between the two of them which is… nice. But if I liked him, I'd have to tell him I'm the same person, and then what if freaks out and starts acting differently again? I like this Dash. I like the way things are. I don't want them to change." Danny knew he was whining, but Jazz started it.
"Of course change is scary. And I'm not gonna say that you should tell him 'because of what could be' or anything. It's your relationship with the guy, you get to decide what you tell him. What I am saying is that you should be honest with yourself and you should have told me! You have a crush on a boy and you didn't tell your sister! I'm hurt."
"Uh, maybe!" Danny protested. "Maybe I have a crush on a boy."
"Liar, liar, pants on fire." Jazz sang.
"Don't you have like twenty essays to do or something?" Danny quipped.
Jazz bellowed a hearty laugh. "Yeah, I do. Talk to you later?"
"Yeah. Thanks for talking to me, Jazz."
"Anytime, bro. Love ya."
"Love you too." Danny hung up. He sighed and collapsed back on his bed, feeling better than he had before. He should make it a point to call his sister more often.
~
Danny: Hey, if I wanted 2 wear eyeliner, where would I start?
Paulina: Aaaaaaa!!! U liked it that much?! this is perfect. I haven't taught any1 make-up in a minute! R U busy? I could B there in ten minutes.
Danny: Would it B ok if i came 2 yours instead? parents have a bunch of dangerous experiments lying around this morning
Paulina: Oh, yeah that should B fine. I'll have everything set up by the time U get here. I'm so excited!
Danny: :D
Paulina has created a group chat.
Paulina has added Kwan, Dash, Danny, Tucker, Sam, and Valerie.
Paulina has sent a photo.
[The photo shows Paulina standing next to Danny in her huge vanity bathroom. They're holding their hands up in the peace sign gesture, winking, and sticking their tongues out. They wear matching eyeliner.]
Paulina: I am a goddess at make-up
Danny: Can confirm. I've learned from a master
Sam: Since the goddess can get you to do something I've been trying to convince you to do for years, I'll gladly bow
Tucker: Smthng U want 2 tell us, Sam?
Sam: Only that I can recognize talent when I see it
Valerie: But can Danny do it on his own?
Danny: I did Paulina's!!! She's been teaching me all day. This shit is hard
Dash: I didn't think you'd get to Paulina's level in one day
Danny: Oh, I'm nowhere near her level. She's a master. However, I can tell U the difference between liquid and felt tip eyeliner.
Sam: Prove it
Tucker: How's he supposed to prove it?
Valerie: He could do your eyeliner
Tucker: No thank U. That shit takes forever to get off. Never again. Why aren't we volunteering Dash for this?
Dash: Because I'm not back for another two weeks. And by then he'll be better at it so you won't be able to make fun of him
Danny: :(
Paulina: I can't believe ur all doubting my teaching skills
Sam: We're doubting Danny's art skills
Danny: >: (
Kwan: Yo!! Looking good, bro!
Danny: :) Thanks, bro. I knew I could count on U. The only 1 that has my back 4 real
Dash: I thought it looked cool
Danny: :D
Valerie: Anyone want to meet at Nasty Burger? I've got a craving for fries
Tucker: Say less, I'm omw
Sam: I'm down
Dash: :(
Danny: You'll be there in spirit :)
Kwan: Woooo! Party!!!! Dash, we can Skype you
Dash: That's okay, we're going on a hike here in a second
Paulina: That's what you get for abandoning us for a month
Dash: :(
~
Sam: I can't believe our resident nurse friend is gone right now
Dash: ?
Tucker: Danny needs stitches and Sam doesn't want to do it
Valerie: What'd he do this time?
Dash: This time?! How often does he need stitches? Is he okay?
Sam: More often than you'd think. He's a magnet for trouble
Tucker: He's fine. Just jumped in front of a car crash to save a kid. A piece of shrapnel gouged his leg.
Dash: Why isn't he in the hospital?! Is the kid okay?
Valerie deleted a chat
Valerie: Danny doesn't like hospitals. Why didn't he let Phantom handle it?
Sam: There weren't any ghosts involved. He wouldn't have shown.
Dash: Is everyone okay though? What's happening with Danny?
Tucker: The kid is worshiping Danny as we speak
Danny: Aw, worried about me Dash? ;)
Danny: Every1 is ok though. I got stitches. The kid is a little shaken, but otherwise unharmed and he's not worshiping me. He was just scared. It doesn't look like a serious crash either.
Dash: My friend jumped in front of a car, of fucking course I'm worried.
Tucker: Eh, he does this often. You'll get used to it.
Dash: Often!? Why?
Valerie: Acknowledging it only encourages him
Danny: Who else was going to save that kid? I think I prefer him over U guys
Dash: What did I do?
Danny: Ur exempt
Tucker: Simp
Danny: I will haunt ur ass Tuck
Tucker: No U won't. Ur too nice
Sam: It's true, that's a hollow threat and you know it
Danny: I can be threatening >=(
Paulina: Glad ur ok Danny! Hate to disagree with U guys, but Danny can be scary when he wants to be
Dash: Yeah, have U ever seen him mad? He's a wall of terror and rage
Valerie: How do you two know that?
Paulina: We used to be bad people.
Dash: U pick on the wrong kid once and suddenly Danny Fenton turns into ur worst nightmare
Danny: :D See?
Sam: Ur still not haunting Tucker
Tucker: I have bestie privileges
Danny: True. But I do too and I will not hesitate to send the blackmail photos I have saved.
Tucker: What photos?
Danny: ^u^
Tucker: Danny, what photos?!?!
~
"Go long!" Danny launched the frisbee through the air, watching Youngblood and Cujo race after it. Youngblood caught it and threw it back. Cujo spun around and came charging back toward him.
He caught it, narrowly dodging Cujo as he jumped after it. This time when he threw it, he used a little bit of ecto energy to throw it further. Cujo took the lead on this chase, Youngblood protesting.
"Hey! Cujo! Let me get it! You can't even throw it!"
"You'll never tire them out, you know." Ember huffed, scribbling music notes in her notebook.
"I know." Danny collapsed on the ground next to her, sinking into the soft grass of one of the ghost zone's islands. "I'm not trying to. Just making sure they don't get bored and try to cause chaos in the living world."
Ember huffed and picked up her guitar. "I've been doing just fine keeping them in check." She played a few chords, shook her head, and adjusted the strings.
"Yeah, you have. Thanks for that. I'm sorry I haven't been visiting as much lately."
She picked her notebook up and changed something she had written. "Yeah, what gives? That new boyfriend of yours better company than us or something?"
Danny tensed. "You know about Dash?"
Ember rolled her eyes. "The whole zone knows about Dash. Well, anyone who cares about Phantom, knows about Dash. Johnny has been itching to tease you about it."
"Great, well he's not even my boyfriend. So Johnny can lay off." Danny watched Youngblood and Cujo fight over the frisbee.
Ember hummed. "You know he won't. I think Skulker already has a plan to use him as bait too. You'd better keep an eye on him."
Danny groaned flopping over to stare up at the swirling green void. His vision filled with a giant green dog, dropping slobber over him like rain as it deposited the Frisbee next to him.
"Gross, Cujo!" Danny sat up, turning intangible so the dog spit would slide off of him.
"You're supposed to throw it back!" Youngblood huffed, sitting next to Ember. "This isn't fun anymore. I want to play pirates."
Danny raised an eyebrow at him, turning tangible again. "Do you remember what happened last time you played pirates? You sent three people to the hospital and leveled a whole city block."
Youngblood rolled his eyes. "It's not that big of a deal. They're all fine."
"People got hurt. That's not fine." Ember said gently.
"Ugh, big kids are no fun. It's fine because they'll just show up here if they get hurt. It's not like they disappear."
"It isn't fine," Danny soothed. "People aren't supposed to be here until they're ready. If you bring them here too early, it makes them really sad." Danny could tell Youngblood wasn't listening to the conversation anymore. Cujo butted his arm to get Danny to pet him.
"And you aren't supposed to be able to see me anymore. Rules are just dumb words that don't mean anything."
Danny tried to contain his frustration as he petted Cujo. He sighed. "Okay, why don't we play astronauts? We can use your slingshot for a spaceship again."
Youngblood brightened. "Okay! I'll go get it. C'mon Cujo! Help me carry it." Cujo barked and the two of them sped off toward Youngblood's door.
"Aren't you glad you're missing time with your boyfriend for this?" Ember sneered.
Danny frowned. "He's not my boyfriend. And I haven't just been spending all my time with him. I've been trying to apply for college and turn the antibiotics for the Fenton Venom into a vaccine. That way Pandora doesn't have to worry about distributing antibiotics to ghosts who are scared of her. You know, important things."
Ember huffed, ripping a page out of her notebook and throwing it at him. "Whatever. Just bring him to my next concert so I can make fun of you."
"No promises. Giving up on your song?" Danny threw the paper back at her, laughing.
"Not giving up, starting over. You giving up on getting over your crush?" She scribbles more in her notebook.
"You're not gonna drop this are you?" Danny wound his fingers around the ghost grass, ripping some chunks out and watching them blow away on the breeze.
"Nope." She popped the 'p', readjusting her guitar on her lap. "It's kind of the most interesting thing going on right now. Since I've given up on taking over the world, I have to entertain myself with your whole 'will I, won't I' thing."
Danny pouted. "Kitty and Johnny's 'will they won't they' isn't more interesting? What about your boyfriend? Is he not entertaining enough?"
"Uh, no. For one, Kitty and Johnny are annoying and they always get back together so it's boring at this point. And no, he's too busy trying to come up with a way to hunt you and the boy you want to kiss so bad it makes you look stupid." She struck a few chords on her guitar, nodding and writing it down.
Danny gasped, shoving her playfully. "I do not look stupid."
"Yes, you do. You fell in a goddamn lake." She grinned and motioned to her guitar. "You know, I could always help out with a well-timed love spell."
Danny frowned at her, eyes flashing in annoyance. "Not a chance. I'm not letting you put a spell on Dash."
"Aw, you care about him." She mocked. "Why don't you just fucking tell him?"
Danny huffed. "I don't know. Maybe I don't want him to freak out when he finds out I'm dead. Or not completely dead if he prefers Phantom. Oh god, what if he does prefer Phantom? What would I do then?"
Ember rolled her eyes. "Jesus, you're a mess. Look, I can't give you the best advice as someone who literally died because she got stood up. But, just ask yourself if you're willing to be lonely for the rest of your life because you're too scared to let someone take your feelings seriously. Don't be an idiot."
"I've got it!" Youngblood called, returning with Cujo who was balancing the slingshot on his back. "I call going first!"
"Coming!" Danny called. He smiled at Ember. "For someone who doesn't have a lot of advice, that was pretty good stuff. I like you better when you're not trying to take over the world."
"I know, you tell me all the time." Ember played more chords on her guitar. "Go play with the kid before he loses his mind."
Danny chuckled as he got up and flew over to Youngblood. "Alright, Commander, are you ready for launch?"
~
Danny: Hey, how's Cali?
Dash: It's fun. My aunt Cassie is teaching me the secret family recipes
Danny: :o any chance I can blackmail U into making those for me?
Dash: Yeah, you can ask nicely
Danny: Can U make them for me?
Dash: What's the magic word?
Danny: Ambivalent
Dash: I can withhold my cooking
Danny: This is cruel and unusual punishment
Dash: Weird, I don't think your texts are coming through
Danny: I refuse to beg
Dash: Then I refuse to share my secret family recipes
Danny: :(
Danny: :(
Danny: :(
Danny : Please?
Dash: Ok, you win. Hope you like chicken kebabs
Danny: <3 U have issues with Reggie yet?
Dash: Ugh, of course. My mom has put him in his place a couple of times though. It's been cool.
Danny: Let's go, Mrs. Baxter!
Dash: She says you can call her Jessica btw
Danny: Is ur mom reading ur texts?
Dash: No, she just asked who I was texting
Danny: Aw, she loves me <3
Dash: Don't encourage her. How are your stitches?
Danny: Still worried about that? I'm fine. It's no big deal.
Dash: It's kind of a big deal. I'm just glad you're okay. I seem to remember you promising a game night when I got back. Wouldn't be able to do that if you fucking died on me
Danny: Did I? I just remember saying we needed to hang out
Dash: No, I distinctly remember you saying that you'd help me get revenge on Tucker
Danny: Ur going after Tucker and not Sam?
Dash: Sam kicks ass. I don't think anyone can beat her. Tucker threw a blue shell at me. That's unforgivable.
Danny: Ok, u have convinced me. I'll help u with ur revenge scheme.
Dash: How upset is he going to be when he finds out I've turned you against him?
Danny: Immensely. He'll never let me live it down. U had better make it worth it
Dash: I'll get some practice in. Wouldn't want to let you down
Danny: Hope ur cousins are good practice then
Dash: Nathan might be, he hasn't left the game room since we got here.
Dash: I need to help with dinner, text you later?
Danny: Yeah, tell ur mom I said hi!
~
Danny, on his stomach, lay on his bed, one elbow supporting his head, red pen spinning in his other hand. An astronomy textbook lay open in front of him, a page already underlined with significant notes in the margins. He'd ordered the basic books for the classes he'd be taking ahead of time so he could use the second half of summer to get a jump start on his studies. He'd need the extra time if ghost attacks ramped up again in the fall.
Granted he was working off the textbooks the teachers had used the previous year so it might all be for naught. But he figured any information was good information, plus he liked seeing the pictures from the telescope.
He was underlining another sentence when his phone rang. He reached over, stretching to grab it from his nightstand, not even bothering to hide the smile on his face when he saw the contact picture. He dropped his pen and answered the call.
"Hey, Dash, what's-"
"Do you have to have your boyfriend fight all your battles, dweeb?" A voice he'd never heard before shouted a small distance from the mic.
"Shut the fuck up, Reggie!" Dash's voice was loud and pissed. "You're the one insisting you know everything when you're just sitting here talking out of your ass."
"Like some kid from Amity Park would know than me. I'm in-"
"Your seventh year of college, yeah, I think that's too many for an associate's degree, making you more of an idiot than a genius!" Dash snorted. "Danny, have you seen Mission to Mars?"
Danny resisted the urge to laugh. "Yeah. Are you calling me to settle a debate about a space movie?"
Dash sounded like he was ready to commit murder. "Yes. Reggie over here thinks that the movie is completely scientifically accurate."
"It's not." Danny closed his textbook and pushed it out of the way. He rolled onto his back to give his elbows a break.
"I fucking told you," Dash shouted, presumably at Reggie.
"What does some fresh high school graduate even know?" Reggie bit back.
"More than you asshole! He's going to get an astronomy degree and I don't think you even know what campus you stumbled onto."
Danny bit his lip to keep from laughing, a warm feeling bubbling up in his stomach.
"Boys, please," an elderly voice called, "the kids are in the next room."
"What part specifically are you arguing about?" Danny asked.
"The part where he takes his helmet off and instantly freezes. You were just talking about it the other day."
"You were actually listening to me rant about the effects of space on the human body?" Danny couldn't help the fluttery tone creeping into his voice. He wrapped his free arm around his stomach trying to contain the small butterflies forming there.
"I'm gonna be sick," Reggie hissed.
"Am I on speaker?" Danny picked at the loose threads on his jeans.
"Yeah, sorry, uh, can you explain to him what happens when an astronaut takes off their helmet in space?"
"Space is freezing, obviously they'd freeze," Reggie shouted disgruntled.
"Okay, first off," Danny started, understanding exactly why Dash hated this guy, "It doesn't matter what would happen because an astronaut would not be able to remove their own helmet. It has to be sealed and pressurized from the back, meaning they would need a partner to put it on and take it off properly. So, there's your first inaccuracy."
"What are your fucking sources for that?" Reggie spat.
"Fucking NASA." Danny snorted. "Fucking google it if you don't believe me. Although, I assume Dash already tried that."
Dash coughed, trying to cover his laugh.
"Whatever," Reggie huffed. "They'd still freeze if they could."
"Not immediately. The first thing that would happen is their skin would develop extreme sunburns from exposure to unfiltered ultraviolet light. If they didn't immediately exhale, their lungs would expand like a balloon from the unbalanced pressure. Parallel air expansion within their ears and sinuses will cause the tissues to rupture. Any moisture in the eyes, mouth, and throat will boil and vaporize. The rest of the liquids in the body will also start to boil and trigger extreme swelling in the muscles. Then the vaporization will cause localized temperatures to drop and then they'll begin to freeze. But that's not the end. Any body fluids that are left can and will escape the body however they can; crying, vomiting, urinating, defecating, all of it boiling on emission. And then they'll run out of oxygen causing hypoxia to take place. Within twelve seconds, they will have lost consciousness so at least they won't have to feel most of this. And if they're not re-pressurized within two minutes, they're certainly dead. And you can imagine the consequences of surviving."
The line on the other end was silent for a few moments. Danny thought he'd gone a bit too far and maybe ruined his reputation with Dash's family. The butterflies in his stomach were turning to stone. He stared at the stars on his ceiling, nerves eating away at him.
Dash, finally, broke the silence, his voice bold and full of pride. "Anything to say to that Reggie? Or did you not understand half the words he said? I thought you knew everything?"
Danny felt warm and gooey inside with the tone of Dash's voice. He was proud of him. Danny may as well be melting. He rolled on his side, curling up in an attempt to contain himself. He fidgeted with the edge of his blankets.
"Whatever," Reggie muttered. "Your boyfriend is creepy as hell. I'm going for a smoke." He heard a door close.
"Yeah, whatever, Reggie, you sore fucking loser," Dash muttered. Danny tried to keep his heart from jumping when Dash didn't correct Reggie on their relationship for a second time.
"Good job, Danny!" Dash's mom whispered nearby. "I owe you one."
"Thanks, Jessica." Danny giggled.
There was some shuffling and muttering on the other end before he heard another door. "You're off speaker now. Thanks for that. I've never seen Reggie so uncomfortable."
Danny's laugh was bubbly and he was embarrassed at how uncontrolled it was. "Anytime. It's nice to know you actually listened to my little space rant."
"Of course, I was listening. And look, it came in handy. Anytime you want to rant, I'm ready to listen."
Danny's face burned, tears pricking the corner of his eyes. His cheeks ached from how long his smile had been there. "Cool," he wheezed. "I'm always here to listen to you too. If there was anything you wanted to talk about."
"Really? Cause my grandma has been trying to teach me how to knit. I could tell you all about different types of yarn and needles."
Danny laughed, every nerve in his body alight with sparking nervous energy. One conversation with Dash was putting him through a lot of emotions in a very short time span. He would be lying if he said he hated it. "Then please, go on, knitting master. I'm all ears."
"Dash!" Dash's mom called faintly from the other room. "We're about to start the next movie! Danny can wait a few more days to have you all to himself!"
Dash sighed. "Well, I guess you'll have to wait to hear all about three-sided yarn until I get back. Talk to you later?"
"Yeah, later." Danny breathed, closing his phone as Dash hung up. He breathed out shakily, cradling his phone to his chest. His heart was racing under his fingers.
Dash had called him to prove a point about astronomy. And he was proud of him for his answer. And that made Danny feel very weak in the knees.
Oh boy, he might be in trouble.
~
Dash adjusted the temperature of the water at the kitchen sink. He was washing the apples they had, making sure to scrub all the pesticides off. He handed each one to his niece Janice who was peeling them at the kitchen table. His grandma sat next to her, mixing pie crust and humming a song.
"Dash, can I ask you something?" Janice asked, setting a freshly peeled apple in the wooden bowl on the table.
"Yeah, what's up, nerd?" He grabbed the last apple, pulling its sticker off and running it under the water.
"That boy that you keep texting, do you like him?"
Dash froze, the old yellow wallpaper with its red birds suddenly the most interesting thing in the world. "Maybe," he drawled. "Why do you want to know?"
Janice shrugged. "Reggie keeps saying mean things about it and I told him if he hurt your feelings about it I'd kick his ass. So, if you did like him, I was going to have to go to war." She struggled to pull a stem out of one of the apples. Their grandma passed her a small knife.
Dash grinned at the thought of his twelve-year-old niece fighting his twenty-five-year-old cousin. She would win. "You don't have to go to war for me, Janice. Just ignore Reggie. He's just a mean person."
"That's not an answer to my question, though." She stood up and got a glass down from the cabinet, filling it with the homemade juice from the fridge.
"I'm curious too." His grandma spoke. "With the way you called him the other day, I'd have thought you two were already dating." She winked at him.
Dash laughed to shake the nerves off. Calling Danny had been impulsive, he just wanted to put Reggie in his place. But he'd been thinking about how happy Danny had sounded since it happened. He turned off the sink and grabbed a cutting board and a fresh knife to start cutting the apples. "Well, if you two gossips need some to satisfy you, then maybe I'll admit to liking two boys."
Janice gasped, plopping back down in her seat. "Drama. Is one of them Danny?"
Dash nodded. "Yes, one of them is Danny. Don't you dare tell him."
"Who's the other one?" His grandma asked, adding more water to her mixing bowl.
Dash didn't really know how to explain Phantom to people who lived outside Amity Park. Ghosts weren't as common beyond their strange little town so they didn't really need ghost superheroes anywhere else. "Uh, just this other guy from school that I've been hanging out with."
His grandma sighed. "I wish I was still young enough to play the field like that."
"Grandma!" Janice gasped, scandalized. Their grandma just laughed. Janice grimaced. "Which one do you like better then? It's Danny, right?"
"You just want me to like Danny because he likes space." Dash slid the apple chunks off the board into a small bowl on the very end of the old wooden table.
"Uh, duh." Janice huffed. "Would it even work with this other guy?"
Dash sighed, remembering how disappointed Phantom had been in him the last time they talked. "I don't think so."
"Why not?" His grandma asked, waddling over to the oak cabinets in search of the dough roller.
"I don't know, gram. I haven't seen him in a while and we just have… different lifestyles. It might be a nice experience, but I don't think it would work long-term."
"There's nothing wrong with experiences." His grandma mused. "They're a part of life."
Dash gave her a small smile. "When did you get old enough to be so wise?"
She cackled, setting the roller down next to her bowl and moving her chair out of the way. "When did you get old enough to be worrying about boys?"
"Touche."
"So," Janice took a long sip of her juice, maintaining eye contact the whole time, "when are you gonna tell Danny?"
Dash frowned. He finished slicing the last apple and walked over to the sink to wash the cutting board. "I don't think I will. He's trying to figure out what he wants from life and I think I'd just get in his way."
"Why can't he figure it out with you?" Janice said with all the sting of honesty that children provided.
Dash didn't even know how to begin low self-esteem to her. His mind raced, trying to come up with a good excuse. "Uh, well, I just think he deserves the best and I think there's better than me."
"I think he's the one who gets to decide what he deserves." His grandma smiled. "You put yourself down too much Dash. We all have darkness in our past, but it doesn't make our present light less deserving."
Dash didn't get a chance to reply as his mom came bustling into the kitchen. "How's it going in here?"
His heart dropped when his grandma smirked at him. "Good. Jessica, dear, did you know your son has a crush on not one, but two boys?"
His mom turned a curious, twinkling eye to him. "I did not."
Janice was practically falling out of her seat. "Aunt Jes, you have to convince Dash to marry Danny so he can bring him to the next reunion so I can have a space buddy!"
His mom gasped, clapping her hands together. "You have a crush on Danny? That's wonderful! You already have my approval."
"Gram, you're a traitor," Dash grumbled. She playfully shrugged, as if she did nothing wrong.
His mom was never going to let him live this down.

Ah, Sam gets the problem now. She chews herself out over it for a second, of course, Danny doesn’t hate trees, then nudges his side. “You know not all ghosts are bad.”
“I know. They’re just very focused. But they’re usually so proud of their work, they want people to notice. And worse, all this is happening without my ghost sense going off. I’m worried this is the start of something I just don’t understand. We’re a week into summer break and I’d like some time to enjoy it. Just to the end of June. Just give me six more days!” He shouts to the sky.
Sam ignores the dramatics, taking another gulp of water. It’s not even that hot, but you can never have a enough.
“Me too, man,” Tucker sighs. “I don’t like the big fights, but weird stuff that impacts the mortal realm to this extent? That’s Ancient level power.”
Danny purses his lips.
Sam stares at the new pond. As good as these developments are, her friends have a point that it’s strange, even for Amity Park, and strange has never led to good things for them. Especially Danny.

would you like fries with that?
DannyMay2023 Day 20: Nasty Burger
title: would you like fries with that?
words: 1217
Summary: Danny wants to enjoy a meal with his friends. The ghosts say no.
Warnings: None
AU: D-Stabilized took place in season 2, before Reality Trip
Beta: @probably-dead
~~~~~~
“Is that gonna be all for you today, Danny? It’s only half as much nasty as you normally get.” Valerie said with a grin, keying the order into the terminal.
Danny sighed dramatically. “It’s diet time. I’ve got to keep up my flawless figure!”
Valerie snorted in laughter, merely rolling her eyes as Danny handed her the cash. “I’ll bring it to you three when it’s ready,” she said, setting the money in the register and fishing out his change.
“You’re the best, Val!” Danny responded, grinning.
“And don’t you forget it!” She immediately shot back, mirroring his grin.
“Couldn’t if I tried.” He said honestly as he moved away from the counter, dropping his change into his wallet. “Because you’re also the best human at shooting my ass.” He muttered as he slid into the booth next to Tucker, knowing both he and Sam heard the interaction.
“One of these days you’re gonna have to stop flirting with a girl who routinely tries to murder you,” Sam said, throwing a glare in Valerie’s direction.
“And return to flirting with the girl who has murdered him twice?” Tucker asked, holding onto his chin in pretend deep thought.
“Want me to murder you too?”
“Uh… nope! Never mind! I said nothing!”
Danny laughed, enjoying the moment. It was finally summer vacation after freshman year and, despite a rocky start to the summer - what with the whole being ousted to the world and nearly experimented on by the government until he had managed to reset memories - the summer was going nicely. He’d just turned fifteen a few days ago and had a good birthday party with his friends and family. Even the ghosts had been leaving him alone recently, though he didn’t know why. He was absolutely not complaining about it! School started back in a week for sophomore year and he was really hopeful for a better school year than the previous one had been.
“If I stopped talking to people who tried to murder me, I’d have to move out from my house,” Danny joked.
“Or, you could, y’know… tell them.” Sam said, a discussion they’d had several times.
Danny just shrugged. “Eventually! We know they’ll take it okay now. But I still wanna, like, come out to them on my own terms.”
“Ah, have the gays claimed another of the few good guys?” Valerie asked, setting the tray with the trio’s food on it in.
Danny felt his cheeks heat up as a blush spread across them. “Uh, um, uh…”
Tucker, Ancients bless him, intervened. “Hey! I’m right here!”
Valerie looked at him pointedly, made a face, then returned to Danny. “Like I said, one of the few good ones?”
Danny really needed to think before he spoke in public, didn’t he? He couldn’t tell the girl he liked he was gay! “I’m… bi?” He said, trying to make it sound less like a question and more like a statement.
Valerie either didn’t notice his hesitation and took pity on him. “Ah, same.”
“You’re bi?” Sam asked, visibly more than a little surprised.
Valerie shrugged. “Guys are hot. Girls are hot. People who are neither and both are hot. What’s so shocking about that, Manson?”
“You don’t… look bi.”
“Not all bi people look like you, you know?”
Sam blushed as she was called out, mumbling something even Danny didn’t catch.
Valerie, smirking like she’d just won a battle, talked to Danny again. “I’m sure your parents’ll be fine with it, Danny. Weird as they are, they are very loving.”
Danny smiled shyly. “I know you’re right. It’s just still a lot, y’know?”
“I remember the feeling,” Valerie said. “Anyway, I’m on break, mind if I join?” She didn’t wait for a response as she slid into the seat next to Sam with a relieved sigh.
“Sure, slide right on in.” Sam said sarcastically.
“So, you guys ready for school to start next week?” Tucker asked, leading the conversation to more neutral territory.
From there, the discussion moved fairly easily, no awkward stutters or uncomfortable topics that needed to be avoided, impressive considering this was a ghost hunter, the half ghost arch enemy of said ghost hunter, and two ghost hunting sidekicks.
Well. It was going well until Danny’s ghost sense went off, a breath of blue air as ice water slid down his spine.
“What was tha-“ Valerie started, confused.
“My King!” A nasally voice called out and all four teens' heads snapped towards it, along with everyone else’s, as a cloaked ghost who was more eyeball than anything else hovered near the front entrance. “You are late!”
Danny saw Valerie tense out of the corner of his eye and was suddenly quite grateful she had chosen to sit with them for her break. She had no good excuse to run off on her own and start hunting the ghost.
He, however, had more pressing problems as the Observant floated over to him, rambling in a language Danny didn’t speak before stopping expectantly in front of him.
“My King!” The Observant said again, snapping his fingers in front of Danny’s face.
“King of the Losers, maybe,” Danny heard Dash joke a few tables over.
The Observant began to turn towards Dash, a blast growing in its hand. Danny’s brain finally kickstarted itself at that.
“King?” He asked.
The Observant sent a half formed blast towards Dash’s head, which the quarterback easily ducked under, squeaking in terror, before it returned its attention to Danny. “Yes, my King. You have missed your coronation.” It said, suddenly friendly and jovial again despite having just tried to injure someone.
“My King?” Valerie said.
“Coronation?” Sam asked.
“Aw, coronations have great food!” Tucker lamented.
“What the fuck?” Danny settled on.
“My King, did you not receive your summons?” It asked, clearly growing exasperated.
“Receive what?” Sam asked.
“My summons?” Danny asked.
“The food!” Tucker continued to mourn.
“What the fuck?” Valerie added helpfully.
“My liege, you are the High King of All Ghosts! Didn’t Cren tell you?”
“Who the fuck is Cren?” Danny asked.
The ghost - somehow - paled. “Oh no, Cren said he notified the Phantom child!”
“The fucking what?” Valerie asked, staring at Danny in confusion.
“Stop. Everyone just stop.” Tucker finally interjected, raising his hands up with his palms out. “You,” he said, pointing to the Observant, “have the wrong guy. Phantom isn’t here right now.”
If the Observant had a mouth, Danny thinks it would’ve dropped. “Phantom is right here, are you blind?” It called, gesturing towards Danny. “Danny Phantom, heir to throne of the High King of the Infinite Realms, opener of the Gateway, Bridge Between Life and Death, Savior of the Ghost Zone and Champion of the Mortals, is sitting right there!”
Danny just paled the more the Observant talked, punctuating each word while jabbing its finger towards Danny’s very much human face.
At just the perfect time, Jazz and Danielle, also human now, ran through the doors of the Nasty Burger.
“Danny!” Dani called. “I need to tell you-!” She stopped when she saw the Observant and Danny’s pale face. “Oh. I’m late.”
Sudden realization dawned onto Valerie’s face and she stared at Danny. “Oh, have you got to be kidding me right now.”
Not knowing what else to do, Danny just muttered.
“Fuck.”
Danny Phantom Head Canons -Part 4
This is part 4 of my Danny Phantom head canons! I hope you enjoy! ^^
Part 1, Part 2, Part 3, Part 4.
61. Sometimes if Sam is really annoyed with Danny she will threaten to put Danny in the thermos.
62. During the summer Danny’s friends and sister use him as a walking air conditioner, following him around and asking him to make himself colder for them
63. Jazz learned how to drive the GAV, and Danny didn’t because he thinks flying is better.
64. Danny doesn't like to overshadow people, it is his least favorite power after the Freakshow incident. He hates the idea of taking away someone's free will.
65. If Danny uses his ghostly wail in his human form he can’t talk for a week as it would have shredded his vocal cords.
66. Danny has tons of scars all over his body, he is very self conscious about taking off his shirt around other people. The scars include: claw marks, burn marks, weapon marks (stab wounds and cuts), and large bruises. He also has one more prominent scar in the shape of a lightning strike spreading up his left arm from where he got electrocuted and died. It looks very faint in his human form but much more noticeable in his ghost form if he uncovers his arm.
67. Princess Dora is really skilled in using a sword, and is completely self taught.
68. Danny’s favorite colour is Red, but Phantom’s favorite colour is blue. For some reason they have different favorite colours and Danny doesn't know why.
69. When Danny is being affectionate his core purrs, Sam and Tucker often joke about it.
70. Ghosts get very defensive about their deaths and obsessions. You never ask a ghost how they died, you WILL regret it. It is uncommon for a ghost not to attack you if you ask.
71. Sometimes Box Ghost and Lunch Lady drop off their daughter Box lunch with Phantom to babysit. Sometimes Danny brings her over to hang out with Sam as she is much better at taking care of kids than Danny is. Box lunch likes to call her Auntie Sam
72. Sometimes Johnny comes to check on Danny and make sure he is okay with his parents, and make sure he is safe. As Johnny had bad parents as well, he feels for Danny having ghost hunting parents.
73. If Danny is extremely exhausted Skulker will stop mid fight to ask if he is okay. If Danny says he is fine they will continue fighting. But if something really bad happens Skulker will leave Danny alone, saying that he will only fight the best and wait till Danny is better.
74. Cujo follows Danny around because Danny was the first ghost (being like him) that he ever met after he died. They are now bonded and Cujo can track him anywhere.
75. All of the other ghosts call Cujo Phantom’s dog, but Danny always denies it saying that Cujo just really likes him. He’s not fooling anybody.
76. There are only two types of cores, fire and Ice, fire is much more common of a core and 95% of ghosts will be fire core ghosts. Also depending on the ghosts specialty, fire core ghosts can control electricity/lightning. Examples are Technus controlling Technology and Pandora shooting lighting.
77. Vortex has a rare thing that is known as a split core. A fire and ice core. He can use these to control all of the elements. And when he splits himself in half, one half can control only fire core elements and the other half can only control Ice core things. Both halves are their respective colors of red and blue and slightly smaller than his normal green form.
78. The far frozen is too cold for fire core ghosts to go to for long periods of time. If they are there too long they can get sick and need to get back to their lair/haunt to recharge.
79. Most ghosts do not know that Danny has met Clockwork, and some of them think the master of time is a myth.
80. Most ghosts often use quotes like ‘Clockwork be with you’ or ‘Thank the Ancients’. Including Danny.
81. Seeing as Danny had defeated Pariah dark in a battle he technically has full rights to take over the throne but Danny doesn't want to do this because he sees it as controlling other people, he sees that everyone else was already doing just fine on their own so he decides to leave them be, and they are extremely grateful for that.
This was part 4 of some of my DP head cannons. Please tell me if you want to see more, and what you thought of them. <3
And also, what are some of your own Danny phantom head canons? I would love to hear about them!
Please tell me about Clocky McCuckwork. I've gotta know.
>:)
okay this is some of what i have written for it:
"No way, nuh uh; I'm not doing this right now." He jabbed a finger at the ceiling. "Send me back right this second or I swear to every single Ancient past, present, and future, that your afterlife will be a living hell."
The small crowd that had gathered below him were standing ready, silently nodding to each other or him every so often. The crowd's use of telepathy was noted, but ignored in favor of more yelling.
"When I agreed to help you out over the summer I didn't mean right after school was over! You know I had plans today!" A brief moment of silence passed.
"Stop ignoring me, you cuck!" The next second he was face down on the polished tile.
“Um, excuse me, but… who are you?” one of them spoke, confusion and wariness evident in their tone. Danny sighed.
“My name is Danny Phantom, and I've come on behalf of Clockwork the cu-” he cut himself off as his form looked like it glitched again.
Danny continued, now rubbing his head, “I’ve come on behalf of Clockwork to fix your time problems. So lay ‘em on me.” He lazily waved his hand around as he spoke, finally resting it back on the floor.
“Uh huh… and what exactly do you mean by ‘time problems’?” Danny shrugged as he floated back up to face the group.
“I don't know; they just said to fix ‘em.” A letter appeared on the table behind the group, drawing the boy’s eyes and a few others followed his gaze. Superman picked it up.
“Okay, that definitely wasn’t there before, right?” Flash said.
“Indeed, yet the boy has not moved and I do not sense the presence of any other unfamiliar minds.”
“Yeah, you probably won’t be able to sense him even if he was having a normal conversation with you. Some ghosts have natural defenses to psychic abilities and Clocky’s definitely one of them.” He held out a hand. “Now hand it over so I can read it.”
The kryptonian raised an eyebrow and turned the envelope around to display the words ‘To: Justice League’ in cursive followed by a stamp of a blue gear with ‘C.W.’ in the centre. Danny groaned.
“Fine. You read it. I’m gonna go figure out what your time problem is.”
but this is a Danny Phantom and Young Justice crossover where Danny gets plopped into the YJ universe to help them with some 'time problem' they don't know about and being bitter about it most of the time because he missed a Humpty Dumpty concert or something with Sam and Tucker
also, not super important, but Kid Flash has the Westons as cousins in this universe lmao
#ask#answered#cleanlenins#thanks for the ask lenn!#man i completely forgot about this wip until now lmao
Danny.... didn't quite know what to do. He'd never thought he'd be kicked out with nothing. He'd known that revealing himself could go wrong but.... he couldn't take anything? None of his comfy clothes? That tiny plant Sam had given him? The gadget that did nothing but light up from Tucker? Jazz's scrap book that she'd gifted him? His space themed blanket? His phone? He'd literally been picked up and pushed out the door. The locks being turned and the security being armed had just been the sound of his heart breaking.
His mom had very clearly said that he wasn't to come back at all. And that the security measures of the house had been turned lethal. (hah. that wasn't going to work given he was already half dead.) He'd tried that night if just to get his phone. The resulting zap had left him stunned and in pain for hours. If it hadn't been for Ellie.... he'd probably just have ceased existing since she was the one to yank him out of gun range and take him to the top of the school building to rest for a bit.
Danny didn't quite know what to do. Jazz had just left for her summer program a couple of days ago and wouldn't be back for a month and a half. Sam and Tucker were both visiting family for the week. They'd just left that day. The hollow, gaping wound in his chest kept getting colder and more numb but he couldn't bring himself to care right now.
"Danny?" Ellie leaned against his shoulder tentatively. Danny couldn't bring himself to answer but he leaned back to show he was listening at least.
"Do you know what you want to do?" Ellie's soft whisper didn't sound uncertain. Danny was glad at least she wasn't as unmoored as he was. He shook his head and dropped it against hers.
"Do you, want to stay in Amity?" Danny shrugged. He didn't know honestly. Where could he go? How long could he wait?
"I have an idea if you need help."
The "ok" took all the spare energy he had. Ellie grabbed his hand and coaxed him to float up behind her. "Come on Danny. We can't stay here very long." He just followed Ellie as she took them wherever. It couldn't possibly be worse than staying here could it?
----
Ellie was worried. Danny didn't seem to be doing too well with the whole being kicked out. She'd thought previously that maybe Amity Park was his haunt but with the way he was behaving maybe she'd been mistaken. Maybe it was his home that was his haunt but with him being kicked out..... yeah. He needed someplace to sort himself out a bit.
She would've taken him to the Ghost Zone but being half human meant that he couldn't stay long without suffering side effects. Ellie only had one idea right now and that was it. If it didn't work out.... she wasn't sure what would happen.
She kept flying, making sure Danny was following her and a few hours later, she brought them down just off the front porch of a farmhouse. Still holding his hand, she walked up to the front door and gently knocked. She hoped to the ancients that even if Kon wasn't home, his grandparents would be willing to let them wait until Kon could arrive.
The door swung open revealing to her relief, Kon standing there in his pajamas and ratty sleep shirt. "Ellie? What's wrong?"
"Hi Kon, we um, had no where to go and Danny's not doing too hot."
Kon looked over Ellie's head to spot Danny standing like a puppet with his strings disconnected and his face pinched at whatever he noticed. (super senses were a strange concept to wrap her head around the first time she heard about them. Then it became a game for her to tease Kon with. She didn't know what he was doing but whatever he saw or heard or whatever was probably bad.)
"Yeah you both better come in. Take him to the kitchen and I'll get some warm clothes." Just then he looked back and a moment later, an elderly woman came down the stairs. "Kon?"
"Ma, this is Ellie that friend who helped me. She and her, um, brother? Need help."
"Kitchen. I'll make something for them to eat and then you can make up the spare room for them. Ellie I hope you don't mind sharing the fold out with your brother for tonight. We'll get you two organised a bit more in the morning, alright?" Ellie could've cried with relief. Someone would help and from what it sounded like they were willing to help for more than just now.
Dc x dp idea i think 175
Jack and Maddie find out about Ellie and Danny being phantom all at once.
They didn’t take it well.
They couldn’t accept it. They could never experiment on something that looked so much like their son. They couldn’t even bring themselves to hurt the “clone” she too looked just like Danny when he was younger.
Clearly the no good spook had to leave. They kick him out with nothing. Not even his phone.
With jazz in a summer program, sam and tucker out of town he has no where to go. He has to leave before they literally chase him out.
Ellie in her ever so helpful way just pats his shoulders. She has the perfect place to crash until he can get in contact with jazz or his friends.
She tells him all about the clone she met and how they bonded. About how she’d dropped by many times unannounced at his adoptive parents house. About how cool they were. They didn’t even care if she used her parents around them!
Out of all the ways the reveal could have happened he never expected to be sitting in a farmhouse with a plate of pie. He guesses the Kent’s are too bad.
They were even okay to let him stay there until he could figure out what to do next.
Constellations Ch. 2
(Yes it finally has a title. Yes this is ending up multi chaptered. Yes there’s another part I’m writing. Yes I already have an outline for a vague plot....Yes I’m still blaming @ladylynse for this XD)
Prev. Chapter - Next Chapter
Danny was very much unprepared and underdressed for the time when some wizards fell out of his fireplace.
He paused in the doorway, spoon still in his mouth and cheeks full of cereal, as his brother stood up and brushed the soot off him with a displeased nose scrunch.
Danny swallowed. "And you couldn't just use the door?"
Honestly they're lucky his parents had left to chase down the Box Ghost earlier. Otherwise they'd be covered in a lot more than soot and ash.
Danny couldn't help the snort that escaped at the mental picture of Draco covered in ectoplasm and boiling in rage.
Draco narrowed his eyes, seeming to pick up that Danny was making fun of him. "Using the Floo was quicker."
"....quicker than walking through the door."
"It's a wizard thing you wouldn't understand." Draco snapped back, his go to response whenever he couldn't argue against Danny's logic at the moment.
"Uh huh. Anyways what are you doing here?" Danny asked, "You aren't supposed to be here for another two weeks."
Which was time previously planned for Draco to prepare for his summer in America while Danny finished school. Spend the two weeks after Hogwarts let out recuperating and making public appearances with his parents, then spend the rest of the summer with the Fentons.
Actually now that Danny was looking, it seemed Draco had come straight from school. His hair was lacking half its gel, he was still wearing his green tie, and his robes were a very boring black as opposed to the various greys and blues he flaunted around in the previous summer.
“Denebola, pleasure to finally make your acquaintance.” Drawled the man standing behind Draco.
“Hello creepy man that I have never met before,” Danny said, echoing his tone.
Draco choked on air as the discount Kylo Ren sneered at him.
“This is Professor Snape Danny.” A familiar please-don’t-say-anything-that-will-get-us-in-trouble tone coloring Draco’s words. “My godfather.”
Oh the potion guy. Danny remembers Draco talking about him now. He was friends with Draco’s parents, which didn’t really impress Danny that much as all of the Malfoy’s friends seemed to be really rich snobs or really racist. Mostly both.
But he was Draco’s godfather, the reason he got into potions, his favorite professor and someone Draco would willingly go to get advice from. So, Danny decided to reserve judgement till he met him. Well….he met him.
Danny looked Draco dead in the eyes, “My apologies.”
Draco closed his eyes in mortification, which made Danny grin internally. They were really getting the hang of the whole ‘speaking without talking to each other twin thing’.
Professor Snape just scowled at him. “Where are the….muggles?" Disdain dripped off his words, instantly making Danny defensive. He had heard enough at Malfoy Manor about disgraceful, savage muggles from Lucius. Even Draco had echoed his father till Danny dragged him kicking and screaming into being a slightly decent person.
"My parents," Danny said, stressing the word, "Are working right now."
Okay maybe they were just being their usual trigger happy selves and running after Boxy, but there was no way he was telling Professor Snape that without it leading to an hour long discussion about ghosts. And Danny did not have time for that. He shoved a giant spoonful of cereal in his mouth as he met Professor Snape's eyes and-huh.
Draco never told Danny his godfather could read minds. He could feel the light brushes of a foreign mind attempting to gleam information from his surface thoughts. Danny didn't know if it was his wizard ancestry or halfa weirdness that made him sensitive to this kind of stuff. Either way, it was useful in keeping his secrets in his head from privacy invading school teachers.
Danny glowered at Snape and immediately thought of Rick Astley's Never Gonna Give You Up music video.
The two of them stared at each other for a minute, making Draco more and more anxious as no one said anything.
Finally Snape broke contact, "Where should his things go?"
Danny tried very hard not to smirk after winning that staring contest, "You can just leave them here, we'll get them later."
With one last displeased sneer, Snape turned to Draco. "I'm needed back at Hogwarts. I trust you are in good hands."
Draco nodded, still looking tense and anxious as hell.
Snape walked back to the fireplace. He paused next to Draco, "Take care of yourself Draco."
Draco softened under his glare, "I will Professor. Thank you."
Snape nodded and shot one more glare at Danny, who still had Rick Astley echoing in his head, before vanishing into the fireplace in a swirl of green fire.
Draco turned back to Danny and said, "You stress me out."
Danny snorted before walking back into the kitchen to put his bowl in the sink. Draco followed after him, looking at all the kitchen appliances with a barely hidden curious look.
"Something else we have in common."
"What are you wearing?" He asked with a nose scrunched in displeasure.
Danny shot him a look, "My pajamas, cause I just woke up. I haven't finished getting ready for school. You should probably change too."
"Why?"
Danny started for the stairs, Draco still following at his heels. "You can't wear robes to public school. I think you can fit in my jeans."
"What?!" Draco screeched, halting at the bottom of the stairs, "I'm not going to muggle school with you!"
"It's either that or stay here by yourself for hours." Danny said as he paused outside his room. Draco scrambled up after him. "Cause my parents won't be home for a couple more hours, after which you'll be alone with them till I get home."
Danny smirked at him, "My parents are going to be thrilled to see you, can you really handle their enthusiasm all by yourself?"
Draco could barely stand Danny showing various forms of physical affection, as proven last summer when Danny would throw an arm around Draco's shoulders and almost get hexed. And Ancients forbid Danny try to hug him. Draco might actually lose the wand and just punch him. Danny had spent most of their correspondence over the school year prepping Draco for the Fenton welcome wagon so he wouldn't hiss like a cat when he gets hugged. Okay, and maybe Danny just wanted to see his overdramatic brother's face as he is subjected to his parent's bear hugs.
Draco scowled at him, "Fine. But I'm not wearing any jeans."
Draco stomped into Danny's room and slammed the door in his face. He heard the lock click as it was shut.
"Hey! I still gotta get dressed!" Danny banged on the door, "C'mon Drake it's still my room!"
Danny groaned before walking over to the bathroom. He phased through the wall and landed on the fire escape. It took a few minutes, but he eventually maneuvered to his window and slipped in.
Draco had dug into Danny's closet and pulled out the most dressy tux Danny owned and was in the middle of putting it on.
"You are not wearing that."
Draco scowled at him, "It’s bad enough I'm lowering myself by going with you-”
“Lowering yourself?”
“-But,” he said loudly, “I absolutely refuse to wear common muggle wear. If I’m going to this school, I will not look anything less than my absolute best.”
Danny stared at him. “Drake you will be thrown into the dumpster if you wear that to my school. Let me just-”
Danny jumped on him, trying to remove the suit jacket from a struggling Draco. Draco shouted and tried to twist away, only for Danny to pull it over his head. Once Draco was out of sight, and swearing loudly at him, Danny subtly used his intangibility to yank it off him. And if he happened to remove all of Draco’s hair gel that he used to keep his hair slicked back….well, that would have gotten him thrown in a dumpster as well.
Danny tried not to laugh as Draco glared at him, his hair fluffed up and looking vaguely like an angry kitten.
"Do you know how long it takes me to fix my hair? I have to completely redo it now! And how'd you get that off me?" He pointed at the jacket Danny was throwing back in his closet.
Danny grinned at him, "Magic."
Draco gave him a flat look.
"Anyway we've got to go, otherwise I'm gonna be late again, and get detention again, and you'll be forced to either walk home by yourself or stay at school with me."
Somehow Danny had managed to get dressed and drag Draco out the door with him, texting Sam and Tucker his plans to walk so they could meet up on the way.
"What is that?" Draco leaned over to squint at the phone in Danny's hand.
"My phone. I told you about it last summer."
Draco hummed, "I thought it was broken?"
"Yeah, cause your magic blew it up. My parents fixed it." Danny shoved his phone back in his pocket like Draco was about to blow it up again. "Now what happened?"
Draco shot him a glance, before letting his eyes flicker around them. "I did try to tell you muggle 'technology' and magic doesn't always go together."
"Drake, you know that's not what I mean." He said softly.
Draco was silent, his jaw clenched and his hands shaking before he shoved them in his pockets.
They walked in silence for a while.
"You'll get hurt."
Danny looked at him.
"I…." Draco sighed, "I've never…."
Danny waited silently for him to get the words out on his own, knowing that pushing him will only make him clam up.
"You aren't like us. And I don't mean that in any bad way!" He said quickly when he saw Danny's face. "But you know what my parents are like, and their friends are so much worse, and you're the first person I've ever had to worry about. I just want you to be safe."
Oh Ancients, that was a lot to unpack there.
Danny had known something had happened during school. The two of them spent the school year exchanging letters, both of them wanting to stay in contact. Danny would tell him about his school, and his parents' antics, and explain random muggle technology to get Draco prepared for his summer with the Fentons.
Meanwhile, Draco had complained at length about Potter and a tournament and Potter being insufferable about a tournament. There was a furious letter about being turned into a ferret and how Potter and his friends keep bringing it up. Draco sent him about three feet of parchment around Christmas just making fun of Potter at a dance and how horrible he was. There was a lot about some famous Quidditch guy and then a lot about Potter’s friend stealing the famous Quidditch guy.
Draco complained about Potter a lot, okay?
But Draco never sent him a letter about the tournament results or if Potter got eaten by a bog witch or whatever it was he was hoping for the last task. He just showed up, two weeks early and clearly shaken about whatever it was that happened.
That isn’t a good sign at all. And Danny had eavesdropped enough last summer to get a decent idea as to what was going on.
“This is….this is about him isn’t it?”
Draco flinched, which was enough answer for him. Danny let out a breath.
“We can-we can talk about this later. I care about you too Drake, and I know your family is neck deep in this mess.” Danny bumped his shoulder, “You’re safe here, that’s why Narcissa sent you here right?”
Draco leaned against his brother’s shoulder, eyes still flitting across the street and his jaw clenched. “Yeah. We’re safe here.”
