Short review about Rei’s gaiden:

The story is interesting. Gives the insight into Rei's past before the happenings in HnK. Art is amazing, fanservice is off the charts; you have everything. Nudity was a little too much for me but I get it, it addresses the chaotical times, especially for women. In HnK it's mentioned the way women were treated and sold into slavery and abused. Here, you get to see that in a very graphical way since Rei is searching for his sister, who god knows what survived and god knows what they did to her (the poor girl blinded herself). Some familiar faces show up such as Yuda, and you get more insight into the jealousy he felt towards Rei because his fist was more beautiful, also the asshole Amiba. In HnK violence was to the max, here, nudity is to the max, but you can appreciate the art and even though the women are skimpily dressed. But worry not, there are plenty of men fanservice. All that leather and Rei lookin' like a friggin Calvin Klein model and better dressed than in HnK... not to mention sizzling hot. *drools*

While im very happy that the Yakuza team are making a Hnk game by itself, I would have been just as happy if they had done it as like a weird “digital actors” type spinoff, ala Kenzan and Ishin. Where it’s like Yakuza cast models and voices used for hnk characters. And the plot is changed around a bit so you just have it all happen in post apocalyptic Kamurocho and Sotenbori.

Kiryu as Ken, Nishiki as Shin and Ryuji as Raoh. Really obvious stuff. Daigo as Toki, maybe? Akiyama as Rei.

Haruka as Lynn/Lin. No idea about Bat/Bart.

I figured Majima as Jagi, but it only works on really surface level, so I dunno.

Mine as Amiba. Bfft.

ANDRE RICHARDSON AS SOUTHER. Good lord.

Aizawa as Kaioh. I could do this all day.

Some AV actresses as Yuria and Mamiya. I have a few ideas for those.

Point is that it would be glorious.

Back in 199X, Kaiyodo did a series of Hokuto no Ken/Fist of the North Star figures; over here, at least, I recall them marketed as being in the style of McFarlene Toys’ Spawn line, which was the hotness at the time. Detailed sculpts, exaggerated poses, not so much with the articulation, but most figures were only rocking 5 points or so at the time.

If you don’t know HnK’s deal: it’s kung fu Mad Max. Toki is a Jesus-looking martial arts master who’s handicapped by radiation sickness; Kaiyodo decided to depict this by making his skin the greenish-grey of a zombie. I repainted it (and the accompanying Amiba head) with the lightest Citadel flesh tone I could find, so he still looks sickly, but not like an ambulatory corpse.
