Thank you all for voting! Some results are exactly what I expected but quite a few were confusing to me. Sometimes I wish I knew why people voted the way they did. Also, just for the record, I did randomize these. None of these pairings were planned.

Now for something important I'm going to say before things get too bad.

I've seen a few heated replies that are getting too close to aggressive for my taste. Guys, this is for fun. There are no real world consequences to the result of this poll bracket. If I believe someone is getting too aggressive or insulting towards other voters (or me), I will block. I don't want any true negativity here and if preventing some people from interacting keeps peace, I will do it. You all are free to try and convince others to vote the way you want, but keep it civil.

So when I first saw this prompt I knew exactly what I wanted to do with it. Figured it would be a fun way to introduced myself, with the aid of my oc (who is very heavily inspired by myself °3°)

I am Angel. The Heartland backstory is based on how I got into Zexal. I watched it as a kid and then in January 2021, my sister wanted to rewatch. I actually didn't want to- I hated the idea and was gonna make fun of the whole thing mostly because I was watching Ducktales at the time- and yet two years later here I am with a yugioh inspired username :D

The bit about the decks is real. In Duel Links I used the Stellarnight deck (until the last Zexal update/skill was made and I just duel with that but for the sake of the story I had to leave it out), and my favourite irl deck is Albaz Strike.

My favourite characters are, you guessed it, Chris and Michael Arclight, Rio, and Astral! And my least favourite is actually Mizar-mostly because he's my sister's favourite (and also I like dragons. it amuses me to think of me and him having beef over who has greater command of the dragons).

And yes, I do like to draw and write and aim to do it more!

A Hero’s Best Friend

Trusty Torgal takes to the field.

Another outcast from the Northern Territories taken in by House Rosfield, Torgal was found alone in a snowfield during one of Archduke Elwin’s expeditions to the freezing north, and gifted to his sons upon his return. After somehow surviving the disaster that nearly ended the Rosfield line, he was reunited with Clive over a decade later, and now serves his master with the same fierce loyalty he did when he was but a pup.

In battle, Clive’s faithful hound Torgal is never far from his side—and when enemies approach, he does not quail. Not only can Torgal attack enemies, but he can also mend Clive’s wounds—and if Clive times his orders right, the two can prove a devastating duo.

The Nore the Merrier

Because sometimes, fighting fate is more than a one-man job.

At certain points in his adventure, Clive will be joined by certain stalwart allies who will fight alongside him—the composition of his party changing as the story develops. Unlike Torgal, these party members do not take orders directly from the player, but fight as they see fit.

I suspect that anyone watching Battle Royale II: Requiem after the Hamas attack on Israel will have a different reaction to it than those who watched it before. It's a movie in which the heroes are terrorists: We even get a repeated shot in which they blow up two identical tall buildings. The first Battle Royale (Kinji Fukasaku, 2000) was an easy movie to get caught up in because it was fast and often funny, and the premise of a government of an overpopulated Japan selecting teenagers to kill off one another in a televised game show format was ridiculous enough that you could easily distance yourself from the movie. But the sequel, begun by Kinji Fukasaku but completed after his death by his son, Kenta, isn't so inventive, and the heroic terrorist premise is hard to swallow. It reunites some of the survivors of the earlier film's massacre who are part of a worldwide crusade against adults in general. This time, they're holed up on the island where they fought in the earlier film, and a class of ninth graders from a Japanese middle school for troubled kids is forced to storm the island and defeat the terrorists. But once they land on the island, after a sequence obviously designed to remind the viewer of the D-Day landing in Saving Private Ryan (Steven Spielberg, 1998), the would-be attackers join forces with the terrorists and turn against the government. The rest is a series of war movie scenes as the government returns fire. The borrowing from other movies is pervasive: The film's climax, for example, is a direct lift from the end of Butch Cassidy and the Sundance Kid (George Roy Hill, 1969). The teacher of the students chosen for the assault is wildly overplayed by Riki Takeuchi, who delivers a blistering anti-American speech before sending the kids off to fight. In general, it's a muddled film, not only politically but also in its failure to present clearly delineated characters in whom we can invest some emotional commitment and in the overall lack of suspense about their fates.

Judging Magia Record’s Outfits [Part 14]

Oriko Mikuni

Ok, first things first, the art for the Oriko Magica manga was fucking. Hideous. Easily the worst manga art I’ve seen so far, and that is definitely including ONE’s original art for mob psycho and one punch man. So I am willing to concede that some of my problems with these characters might have to do with the original artist’s work.

That being said, Oriko looks fine. Her skirt is big, but not impractical, she’s wearing appropiate footwear, and she’s not even a combat magical girl. The only excesses are her veil and the diagonal ribbon with the crest on her skirt, although I can appreciate how the crest gives us a color break from all the white. Still, the metal around her soul gem should also be a different color, and I wish her hairstyle was more neat since she has a proper lady personality, but I guess the artist was going for this Mad Hatter aestethic? Even though there were no Alice in Wonderland paralells in the story that I can remember?

Kirika Kure

Edgelord over here made the wrong choice when she thought that her big black claws weapons would look more intimidating if they came out of her oversized sleeves. They don’t, they look stupid and not threatening at all. The cropped top over the shirt also makes torso look waaay too long, which could be fixed by simply elongating it and taking away the frills.

Yuma Chitose

Big bow on her neck or not, this girl is way too small to wear anything strapless. And while I certainly don’t think that all magical girls need to be skinny, the shape of her outfit is just unflattering to her figure, though that just may be the way she’s drawn here.

Suzune Amano

On the one hand, yeah, a man definitely designed this. On the other, I am a big fan of Black Rock Shooter’s design and this girl is practically a ripoff of her so.

Characters ruined by the Male Gaze: Actually, I think I lost count, so lets say 20 as well, but also I actually almost don’t mind it because this character looks good.

Kanae Yukino

This girl is a walking contradiction. She’s supposed to be a gangsta who comes from the boonies, has no money for a bra, and fights with a rusted pipe, yet her outfit has all this tacky bright stuff.

(A starter for @thedorkpolice-rp) Well, Chapter 67 of Second Horizon was published with the Adachi cameo. He said he was doing something for him and he knew Adachi read it and was one of 5 people who knew that “Yuma Kozukata” was a nom de plume. Nanako was over at his house because her parents were refusing to act like adults and keep her out of their divorce proceedings as he gave her a riceball meal from the convenience shop. His options were... Nimono. He would have done a shopping run but Junes was closed and he had to do background work for 68. Mrs. Amano’s infamous nimono, with lotus root so tough and the sauce so lacking in soy sauce it’s edibility was called into question. The smell it made when being reheated could kill a toddler, so he grabbed the container. He’d have to salvage this with what little he had. Dumping the contents into a wok, he began reheating and adding garlic paste and soy sauce, anything to cover up the taste of mirin when his phone began to ring. Adachi, he clearly got off work. Picking up, he held the phone to his ear. “Heya.” He grinned. “Did you get the new Chapter?”
