This chapter fought me, but I finally finished its edits and so forth. The chapter after this one will be full of lots of softness since its the date.
This chapter is from Kara and Sam's perspectives. Excerpt for Sam's portion:
Sam leaned against the wall of the elevator, her arms crossed. “So, you’re just going to sacrifice yourself, huh.” She hit the button for the ground floor, not yet ready to return to work. She felt too rattled by Andrea’s confession and that damned plan.
Andrea grimaced. “Che boluda, it puts you off the hook for guard duty.” She tugged on the collar of her jacket. An identical one to the jacket she’d given Ruby, which Sam couldn’t help but notice how her daughter refused to take the jacket off since getting it. Even wore it to bed. Ruby liked Andrea too.
“No, you are not bypassing this conversation.” Sam frowned, irritated. “I don’t want off the hook, Andrea. I want to see you safe and thriving. This is sending you right back into the Lion’s Den.”
“Si, picante, lo sé,” Andrea muttered. “It is what it is, Sam.”
Sam pushed off from the wall when it dinged open. “Come on, I need a walk, and there’s a park nearby.”
Andrea nodded and followed her through L-Corp’s atrium. Outside, the sun shown bright in the afternoon sky, the sparse cumulus clouds tinged with a hint of grey. Close to rush hour, the streets teemed with vehicles and the sidewalks full of pedestrians. Sam grasped Andrea’s hand and led her through the maze of people, across the street, and to the park three blocks west of L-corp.
She tried not to think about how well Andrea’s hand fit into her own or how she'd left her right earplug looped over her ear, so she heard the uptick in Andrea’s heartbeat over the haze of the city’s noise. Nor how Andrea both fascinated and infuriated her in equal measure.
The warmth of Andrea’s hand seeped through her senses, almost like a comforting buzz. Lately, her sense of touch had amplified, but only with those she cared about. It was odd. She needed to ask Kara about it, but hadn’t had the time.
Palm trees lined the edges of the park, the middle a wide grassland where a group of kids played soccer. Further to the west was a pond with benches and a pathway into a smaller clearing, one with little to no people. Sam led them there and promptly laid down in the grass.

Myriad
A ficlet based on an alternative use for myriad.
Kara lands on Lena's balcony "what are you planning on doing with Myriad?" she demands without a second thought.
Lena stands up and looks at her confused, instead of answering her she simply walks towards Kara and puts out her hand for her to shake. "Supergirl! I don't believe we've met before, I'm Lena Luthor"
"What?" Kara asks in confusion.
Lena repeats herself "I don't believe we've met before I'm Lena Luthor".
"Please tell me this is some kind of a joke to get back at me"
"Get back at you? For what?"
Suddenly it hits her "Lena its me, Kara..." she pauses a thought suddenly occurring to her "you know Kara Danvers, right?" she pleads.
Lena just looks at her blankly, and that's when Kara knows. Knows how Lena used myriad. Knows how badly she has fucked up and that she wouldn't be able to fix it. Knows that Lena has truly forgotten who she is.
"I'm sorry" Lena says sympathetically as the superhero breaks down in front of her.
"it's okay" Kara says trying to collect herself "I understand, I won't bother you again."
Kara takes one last look at Lena trying desperately to capture a picture of her face in her mind but too many tears blur her vision. She says goodbye and launches up into the air and flies away.
---
Kara lands back at the DEO still crying and collapses to the ground in a heap. She knows how pathetic she must look, she only came back to update them but is now too grief stricken to move. Alex rushes over to her to find out what is wrong. Kara wants to tell her everything but when she opens her mouth all that comes out are sobs. She feels as though she is trapped in a hell of her own making unable to find a way out.
"Are you hurt?" Alex asks but Kara cannot answer her, even if she could bring herself to speak she's not sure what the right answer is. She doesn't feel hurt, she feels broken, but that's not what Alex means.
"What did Lena do? Did she use myriad on you?" Alex questions her further and this time Kara manages to shake her head at the second question, still, even after everything, making sure to clear Lena's name of any wrong doing.
Eventually Kara manages to force some words out of her mouth, but they aren't what she was expecting to say. "I love her" she says between sobs "I love her and she doesn't even remember me".
"Oh" Alex says suddenly understanding everything she hugs Kara tightly as agents swirl past them trying not to stare at them. "It'll be okay, you'll be okay" she whispers into Kara's ear. Kara doesn't believe her but she hopes she will one day.

How You Get the Girl - part 2
Supergirl. Lena Luthor x Reader!
Word Count: 2995.
Part 1
Notes: should I do another part? Would anyone be interested in a part 3?
You make your way to a new Earth, with a quick search you find out that the DEO is still active. Lena works for them and Supergirl doesn’t, which makes way more sense than the other way around.
“Hey, there you are!” One of the agents greets you with a lab coat with your name on it. “Ms. Luthor is waiting for you in lab 3.”
“Oh, I’m not —“ you breathe deep. “Heh, you know what? Whatever. Which way?”
“Lab 3?” He repeats as if you’re supposed to know. Then points in a direction when he draws no reaction from you. “That way.”
“Thanks!” You put on the lab coat that clearly doesn’t belong to you, and follow the direction he pointed to. “Hey Lena!”
“Oh.” Lena says, not looking up from the experiment before her. “Look who is finally on time!”
“No one’s ever complained about my tardiness before.” You complain half to yourself, half to Lena.
“Not to your face.” Her response comes quickly and you roll your eyes to it. "Take your place, please." She looks at the chair and you make your way there.
"So, why do I have a lab coat with my name on it? I'm not a scientist."
"God, no. Thank God, no." Lena says and you roll your eyes at her one more time, unamused. "You're my guinea pig."
"Cute." You already don't think this will be your favorite Lena.
Lena throws one look back at you, then clicks something on her computer. She looks at the cameras and you follow her gaze to see they no longer have a red light on, so that probably means she shut them down. "Did either J'onn or Kara see you coming in?"
"No."
"Does Alex know where you are?"
"I don't think so, no."
"Great." Lena turns around, straddling your lap, and she holds you face with both hands before kissing you so hard, you're almost left with no air inside you.
"Wait, wait." You try while she kisses down your neck, and her hands make way under your shirt. "I'm not your Y/N! I'm not –" Your brain refuses to work while her cold fingers slide on your bare skin. "I'm from a different universe!"
Lena takes her face from the crook of your neck and looks at you in disbelief. "Is this another excuse for us not to make out anymore?" She sounds uninterested. "Are you feeling bad for Alex again?"
"Why would I feel bad for Alex?"
"Because she is your wife?" Comes in the form of a question. Like a duh.
"WHAT!" You push Lena from your lap and stand up in a hurry. "I'm married in this universe and you and I –"
You look disgusted, but Lena just stares at you like she is waiting for your tantrum to be over. "We're horrible people!"
"Ok. Ok. I see what's happening. Alex did something sweet and now you want to break things off and then in a couple of days you're gonna call me again." She sounds nonchalant about it, and you're almost throwing up while hearing it.
"Oh no." You hold back the vomit on your mouth. "Hell no. I can't be stuck in this. I'm gonna get far away from you. You and Y/N from this Earth are both disgusting and messed up. I hope you know this." You take off the lab coat that doesn't belong to you and run so fast, you miss your counterpart walking in the DEO at the exact same time.
You land on a different Earth. It takes you a lot more investigation to find out where Lena is, and it's almost as if she is hiding. But you're a good reporter, you know Lena pretty well, so you manage to find her in a secret lab.
"Hey Lena." You have a smile on your face that soon fades when a gun is pointed to your head.
"You have ten seconds to tell me how you found me here, before I kill you." Lena's expression at you tells you she is not joking. She really means it.
"Shit. Wrong Earth. Wrong Earth." You fumble with your ring and thank God you get out of that place in less than ten seconds.
By the tenth trip it has gotten easier. Find Lena. Check if she doesn't hate you; if one of you is not married; if you two are actually gay; if the thought of you together doesn't make her gag. Explain who you are. Ask for advice. Get out of it empty handed.
Everything becomes a blur, and your memories start to merge the different worlds together. The many Lenas you've met seem so different that none of them resemble your Lena anymore. In fact, the confusion in your mind grows so intense that you begin to forget what your Earth and your Lena truly look like. But you won't quit.
You arrive in yet another world. You've seen it all. Earths where Lena doesn't love you, ones that she is straight, others she is with Kara, and in some you and her are together. Though those weren't exactly helpful. If anything, they added to your confusion and desperation. Are you ever gonna get the girl?
In this reality, Lena is the head of CatCo, making her your boss—a less than ideal situation, to say the least. You drag your sorry ass one more time, to face yet another disappointment, you're sure.
"Y/N!" Lena smiles when you wander into her office. It's late, most employees have left already, but there's a handful of people still preparing to leave. "I thought you had called a day." She looks at her watch. "A couple of hours ago."
You wait, is there a kiss coming your way? Are you going to stop it before it happens this time or are you going to pretend you don't want it to happen after it does? The kiss doesn't come. This Lena is waiting on your response from the exact same place, which probably means you two aren't together in this universe.
You collapse onto her beige couch, letting out a huge sigh. You're so tired of this hopeless crusade. Perhaps you and Lena were never meant to end up together. Maybe the versions of you that actually got the girl are a fluke. Glitches in the system.
"Darling," She comes closer. "are you ok?"
"No. God, no. I'm not ok." You raise your head to see Lena's worried features, while she hovers over you. "Before I say anything, I need to warn you I'm not your Y/N. I'm from another Earth, and this is probably the 15th one that I visited so far. So I'm exhausted and far from ok, and I just want to cry."
Lena blinks. Green eyes framed with dark eyeliner, pink lips slightly open, so confused. Her straight, dark hair falls around her face, and you can't help but to steal a look at her incredibly inappropriate cleavage for show.
"Just call your Y/N if you don't believe me."
"No, I –" She sits next to you, calmly. "I believe you." Lena purses her lips, staring at your watery eyes. "So, how come you want to cry?"
You blink your tears away. "I love you." You breathe out. "Well, not you exactly. But you, from my Earth. But you don't love me back, and I've been everywhere trying to find one universe where it all worked out. Where you didn't love me, but I could – I somehow won you over." The tears are now streaming down your face without your control, and you don't even bother cleaning them. She stares at you with wide eyes. "But what if you and I are never supposed to work? What if Lena is never supposed to love me back?" Your breath shudders and you can't barely get your words out. "What if this is it?"
Lena licks her lips, unable to respond. You're unsure of the endgame here; you're merely using this Lena to finally unload your emotions.
"How do I just bury this feeling so deep down, when it wants nothing but to exist?"
The question falls heavy from your mouth. Loaded with more than heartbreak and it can be felt from the way your words sound. Lena feels it too. Surely, the whole world would be able to feel it.
"You don't." She whispers back and you startle with the sound of her voice. You didn't think she would answer. "Y/N, I –" Lena breathes deep, gathering all of her courage. "I love you too. Well, you know what I mean. But on this Earth, you and Kara are dating."
"Yikes." Not yikes as in gross, but also, yes somewhat. Because you and Kara? That's weird and absurd and like dating a sister. But also yikes, cause you've landed on a universe where Lena loves you but she also didn't get the girl. "I'm sorry. I guess the last thing you needed was me crying on your couch about how much I love you."
She chuckles, looking up to hold back the tears. "God, this is so surreal." She turns to you like she's telling a secret. "I bought this company for you."
"Oh! You did that for Kara in my universe." You give her a watery laugh. "That's so very Lena of you." After a moment's thought, you lean in with a whispered revelation yourself. "I almost killed your brother to defend you. And trust me, I don't kill."
"Yeah, you – you did that for Kara here."
You and Lena fall into a weird silence. You notice from the corner of your eye that a few tears started falling on her face and you make a move to clean it up. She holds her breath to it, and her eyes flutter closed when your thumb brush softly against her skin.
She is not your Lena, but God, do they look the same, sound the same, and even smell the same. She is everything your Lena is, plus one huge difference: she is in love with a Y/N.
"I have an idea." You whisper, not to startle her, then move your finger away.
She doesn't open her eyes to whisper back, "Please, don't say Parent Trap."
"Hey!" You defend yourself earning a heartly laugh from her end. "Parent Trap is always a solid idea."
Lena looks at you fondly, while trying to sound annoyed. "God, Y/N."
"No, that wasn't it." You actually defend yourself this time, and she sits up straighter, looking at you curiously. "I love you and you love me. Sounds like an easy fix."
"No." Her voice comes as if she is talking to a toddler. "I love you from this universe, and you love me from your universe. We're all different individuals."
"Not that different. You knew I could say the Parent Trap idea, you bought a company for someone you love and I almost killed for someone I love." She only blinks at you in utter disbelief. "Oh, come on. You're still Lena! You're absurdly smart, and beautiful. You call me darling, and laugh when I say something silly. And I am still me, I'm –" You can't find the words to describe yourself.
"You're a bright light everywhere you step in. You're the only one that makes me laugh so hard. You're the most charming person I've ever met, and you have terrible ideas and try to pass them off as good." You laugh when she says that.
"What? I don't –"
"You've been to 15 different Earths just to find a way to make your Lena love you, instead of just talking to her about it."
"Yeah, whatever. Like you're so perfect being filthy rich and buying companies as a form of love." She chuckles again and you stare at her with renewed intent. "Come on, it's not that crazy. We can find out the differences between our counterparts, but I doubt there's anything you've done that would make me stop loving you."
"My scientist mind says this is the craziest thing someone has ever told me."
"But the stupid part that made you fall in love with me, says…"
Lena inhales deep, then lets it all out in one breath. "That I'd die for your kiss."
You've kissed many Lenas from different universes. Short and sweet kisses, big and passionate ones, and completely wrong ones as well. You can help that your heart beats almost out of your chest in anticipation for this one. This Lena, she's so much like the one you fell for, but there's an ineffable quality about her, something more. Without even a kiss, you sense that if she isn't the one for you as well, then no other Lena will ever be.
The office is bathed in a soft, dim light. The last employee left a few minutes ago, leaving you both in an oddly calm, private CatCo. You draw Lena's face close to you, feeling her hold her breath in sync with yours.
"What if this is it?" Lena asks and you realize she has different worries than yours. But you know, regardless of the uncertainty – whether this is going to be it, or not – the only way to have the answer is by kissing her.
The moment seems to stand still, as the question reveals to be the answer itself. Time stretched out so thin through the space between your lips. And you smile to yourself as the gap between you two doesn't feel insurmountable anymore.
Lena closes the distance. It feels impossible to believe that you two haven't known each other all your lives, when the dance of your lips and tongues moves in perfect harmony. The kiss is explosive and urgent, as if it has been in the making for years. Breathless, desperate, and exploratory. It's everything, and it's only the start.
You part your lips, staring at her from so close the only thing you can look at is her glossy eyes. "I'll die." She whispers so close to your mouth you're sharing the same breath. "I'll die a little death if I can't have you again."
The floor seems to open under you, as your heart flies to your mouth beating so fast it's ringing loudly in your ears. And you cease to exist in many universes to just exist right here, in this moment.
This is it. This is love. The love you've been jumping around from one universe to another to find. The love you've been dying to have and you know it. You shared one kiss and you are sure of it.
Lena swallows a tear, a question, a whirlwind of thoughts going through her mind as she kisses you again. Then again. And each kiss becomes more passionate, more certain. It's so right it binds you two deeper and stronger at every lip and tongue and breath shared. It can't be undone.
Lena has a million questions and you know that, can see it in her eyes, and God you have them too. How can you erase your histories? Is it as easy as this? As easy as sharing a kiss so right that defying the boundaries of many universes cease to matter?
But you know, God, you know it's just the start. It's the start of a chain reaction that makes your heart feel alive and complete. It doesn't matter anymore if she is your Lena, because she is the Lena.
"How will this even work?" she whispers against your lips, but deep down, you both know—it will work, it must work. Nothing can stop it now.
"I don't know. God, I don't care." You answer between kisses, your breathless words expressing a certainty that defies logic. "I just know it will."
It's many, many kisses later that you both fall into a less desperate silence, tangled up in each other's arms as if this is the 100th time you've found yourselves in this position. You don't have to talk to know you're both thinking the same thing. How will this work?
"I have an idea." Your eyes widen and you untangle yourself from your place on her chest, so you can look into her eyes.
"Here we go again." She jokes lightly, but you know she trusts this idea will be just as good as the last one.
"I've been to one universe where I didn't exist. I don't know what happened to me there. If I was never born or if I'd died. But you existed and Kara was your best friend, and all of you would work in a Tower, and there was this guy Brainy, instead of Winn… Anyways." You stop your ranting when you realize you're getting a little side tracked. "I'm sure there's one Earth out there where both you and I don't exist. We could just –"
"Go to another world and start fresh. No two of you, no two of me. Just you and I making a name for ourselves." Lena completes and you smile at her, happy she understood exactly where you were going with this.
"I mean, you're stupidly smart and I have powers. Surely we can make a life for ourselves anywhere." You stop yourself when an idea crosses your mind. No, not anywhere. You smile. "And I know just where."
"You would do that?" Lena blinks, her question isn't coming from a place of confusion. She knows you would do exactly that and some more. The question is coming from a place of complete adoration.
"I'm dying to believe that you won't be the death of me." She kisses you one more time to be sure. And it's obvious. Every single time it's even more fated.
"What about everyone else on our Earths? Wouldn't we miss them?"
You show her your ring. "Have a portal –"
"Will travel." She completes it.
Yeah. This one. This one is your Lena.

Codename: Red Daughter
Kara is eyeing her purse, it's small but one could fit a handgun in there if one wanted. Lena deliberately sets it down on the sideboard, and Kara's left eyebrow twitches. "What, are you gonna shoot me again?"
Kara looks royally pissed, and Lena can’t help the smirk that pulls on her lips. "Well, the night's not over yet."
Kara glowers at her, but instead of intimidating Lena, she just finds it cute. "You shot me."
Lena shrugs her shawl off. "With a tranquilizer dart."
"Oh, my mistake," Kara scoffs. "You shot me and drugged me."
"Sarcasm is adorable on you, darling." Lena approaches her with a fond smile. "But you had a clear shot. Even your incompetent little DEO friends could see that. You know as well as I do that it would have looked suspicious if I didn't shoot you before you could shoot me."
She straddles Kara, who looks up at her with the cutest pout even as she pulls Lena's hips flush against hers. "That's not the point. I'm still mad at you."
"No, the point is: The half-life of that drug I gave you is 4 hours. It's barely 10 o'clock. You must still be feeling the effects of it." She slips her hand over Kara's collarbone which is unnaturally flushed. "You have exactly 6 hours until the drug I gave you wears off."
Lena gives Kara a wicked, challenging smile. "What do you plan to do about it?"
...
Later, when the aftershocks of her last orgasm finally die down, Kara slumps forward, panting into Lena's shoulder. "What on earth was in that drug you gave me? Stimulants? Some kind of aphrodisiac?"
And then Lena laughs breathlessly, slipping her arms around her. "That was just a mild sedative, it would have worn off before you even got here. This," she gestures at their sweaty, sticky bodies, "was all you, Supergirl."
....
....
....
....
Back at the DEO, Lex Luthor examines the small dart in his hand intently. The knocking on his office door barely registers and he mutters a distracted "Enter."
Alex Danvers, ever efficient, gets straight to the point with her report. "Red Daughter has been cleared by medical, sir. She's sleeping off the drug. I saw her home personally myself."
Lex turns the dart over in his fingers, a small smile pulling at the corner of his mouth "Oh, Lena...." he tuts under his breath in amusement.
Danvers frowns a little in confusion, but she doesn't question him. She's a good little soldier, this one. Lex gives her a beatific smile. "Tell me, Director Danvers. Statistically, how many people are killed by this sedative?"
"In that dose, sir? Likely none."
"Exactly." A grim smile appears on Lex's face. ".... You might want to check on your sister, Director. I think you'll find that whatever drug this is my fool of a sister dosed her with, she's not sleeping it off."
______________
A little supercorp spy AU based on the Earth prime thing where Lex is the head of the DEO. It's a no powers AU, but Alex and Kara are both working with the DEO (and as you probably already figured out, Kara's code name is Red Daughter). Lena is actively working against Lex, but she crosses paths with Kara, who begins to doubt Lex's intentions, and together they team up to expose Lex and bring him down.
Kiiiiiiiinda related to this one, but not really. I just went nuts after seeing The Continental trailer and then I remembered this AU, so here you go.

🖊 Post a snippet from a current WIP.
🏅 What is something you recently felt proud of in regard to your writing (finished a fic, actually planned for once, etc).
📚 Do you read your own fic?
I'm here to force you to feel proud😌
🖊 Post a snippet from a current WIP.
A little snippet from my Peggy Carter fic “Alex doesn’t know that I’m the test subject, does she?” It was even less than a rhetorical question and maybe that was why Fury didn’t seem at all in a hurry to supply her with an answer. “If she did, she would have refused,” Kara reasoned. Even now with their relationship as frosty as it was, Kara was sure of that. A lot may have changed between them, everything may have changed but not that.
“You lied when you told me that the DEO wanted me to be the one to test the portal between our earths. Why?” “SHIELD and the DEO are collaborating on this endeavor,” he explained, hands folded neatly in front of him. “Which means that what SHIELD wants is what the DEO wants and vice versa.” “Oh that is such a load of—” “But,” he said, hand preemptively raised to her objection. “I neglected to inform Director Danvers about my choice of test subject. Something I plan to rectify when I give her my report.” “She’s not going to like that. Being kept out of the loop…” Who would? she thought and found her thoughts inexorably turn to Lena
“Oh, I know,” Fury said, sounding wholly unworried. “And I’m sure she won’t have any problem letting me know either. But before you get angrier, maybe you’d like me to handoff the data you gathered before you accidentally crush it.”
Kara let out a loud exhale before she made a show of stowing the drive in one of her pockets instead of handing it over to him. The act didn’t seem to surprise him at all, on the contrary he almost seemed to expect as much because he gave a little nod as he sat up a little straighter in his seat. “Why me?” Kara asked. “Did you pick my name out of a hat or did you just consider me expendable?
“You were never in that kind of danger,” he explained. For the first time he sounded almost contrite, or maybe more human. “But I will admit that it wasn't exactly risk free either.”
“You didn't want to risk one of your people? Is that it?"
“I thought you were tough enough to weather any possible hiccups in the experiment,” he said as if he hoped Kara would take it as a compliment.
“You don’t have anyone as tough as me on your earth?”
“Oh, I do, but she’s off planet and I know enough not to owe her a favor unless I absolutely need to,” he said smoothly. "You'd like her."
“So I was your only option?” Kara considered this for a brief moment before shaking her head. “No. You knew…” She took a deep breath, hoping that might quell some of the anger she could feel building in her chest. “You knew I would want to see Lena again.” She fully expected him to deny it, hoping that he would try so that she could call him out on it. She waited for his gaze to drop or for his eyes to flick up and away but he did neither.
🏅 What is something you recently felt proud of in regard to your writing (finished a fic, actually planned for once, etc).
I've actually finished a handful of fics recently that I haven't shared yet. They're a bit different than my usual output so I'm going to sit on them a bit but I'm always happy to finish a story even if I don't end up sharing it. One is maybe too angsty to share and the other is a bit smutty so I'm hesitant to share that one as well.
📚 Do you read your own fic? I do read my own fic. I hope that doesn't sound conceited. In all honesty, I am writing for myself. I get an idea that intrigues me and I always love exploring it. But it's usually so specific and out there that I'm shocked whenever someone ends up enjoying it. I like to go back and revisit older fics and I'm almost always pleasantly surprised to find a bit of dialogue or snippet that I really like and ask myself "Did I really write this?" That's fun. There is also the editor in me that eviscerates everything and the urge to edit or change something is hard to ignore. There's always room for another polish, I think.
#ask game#thanks so much for the ask cat <3#the peggy carter fic has already grown too large as it is

Paying The Price
〚 Day 5 - Preventative Measures (Not Taken) 〛
〚 Pairing - Sanvers 〛
〚 Summary - Alex ends up paying the price when she doesn't take preventative measures at work. At least she'll have maggie to look after her. 〛
〘 Check Out My Masterlist! 〙〘 Sicktember 2023 Masterlist 〙
“Do you not think you should take a coat love? It’s meant to get a little chilly later on according to the weather.” Maggie called out as Alex finished making her to-go cup of coffee into her flask, “Pretty sure its gonna rain too by the look of those clouds.”
The agent shook her head and waved her off with a reassuring smile, “It’ll be fine, I’m on roll to do a clinic shift anyway so it’s not like I’m gonna be out in the field or anything like that. I’ll just end up carrying it if I take it.
That was true. The DEO had recently got wind of a small clinic on the east side of the city which was specially made to treat aliens and offer things like vaccines and just provide general care to those individuals which didn’t feel comfortable in a regular clinic. As such, when the DEO found out, J’onn offered to provide agents as a form of security there as well as to keep things in order. Alex liked her shifts at the clinic, after all, the waiting room chitchat often inadvertently provided inside knowledge to help with ongoing issues, not only that but the environment itself was warm and friendly and the people there seemed to trust her too – she’d even made some friends.
“Alright then, have a good day at work darling.” Her girlfriend smiled, giving Alex a small kiss before she left, “Don’t forget you’re on food pickup duty tonight too.” She added playfully before beginning to make her own coffee, “I’m thinking pizza?”
Alex smiled as she picked up her bag and turned to leave, “I won’t forget, don’t worry! Pizza sounds good, alright I’m gonna head off, see you later, have a good day at work babe.” She said before leaving the apartment and making her way out to her car.
It wasn’t a long drive, about 40 minutes or so. When she arrived, Alex stepped out of the car and involuntarily shivered at the icy chill of the air nipping at her arms, maybe she should’ve brought a coat after all she thought, shaking her head with an eye roll knowing her girlfriend was right. At least she’d be inside for her shift though. As Alex walked through the clinic doors, she immediately noticed the bustling atmosphere. Aliens of various shapes and sizes filled the waiting area, patiently waiting for their turn to be seen by the doctors. It was definitely a lot busier than usual.
As the agent made her way to the small security desk to clock in, she couldn’t help but inwardly groan at the sight of the other agent on shift. Agent Wilson was one of those guys who never failed to get on her nerves. Something about his cocky, nonchalant attitude always seemed to rub her the wrong way.
“Agent Danvers it’s always nice of you to show.” He turned around upon hearing her footsteps approach, “I suppose you’ve got the delight of my company, how lucky.” The agent smirked before rooting around in his side pocket before pulling out black surgical mask and putting it on.
"I'm here to do my job, just like you," Alex replied, choosing to ignore his sarcastic remark, "What’s with the mask?” Wearing a mask wasn’t required or was it advertised so she couldn’t help but question it especially considering no other agents had chosen to wear them in the past.
Agent Wilson chuckled condescendingly. "Precautions, Danvers," he said with a hint of mockery in his voice. "You know, to protect myself from any alien bugs. I don’t want my immune system being invaded by foreign bodies."
She raised an eyebrow, feeling a sense of annoyance creep up within her. She was well aware of the potential risks of working in close proximity to sick aliens, but she had always trusted her strong immune system to keep her healthy. She prided herself on being cautious and responsible when it came to her work, but in this instance, she had overlooked the possibility of catching something.
"Well, that's your choice," Alex finally replied, her voice laced with a hint of annoyance. "But I'm not here to alienate anyone or treat them like threats. These beings are just seeking medical help, same as any human. And besides, I've been doing shifts here for months without any issues."
Shaking off her annoyance, Alex walked past him and made her way to the clinic's staff room to change into her uniform, the clinic preferred them to wear their own brand of gear, just as an extra precaution which was understandable.
As she made her way to one of the smaller lockers, she put down her bag and began changing. It was only then she noticed the slump attitudes of the attending staff. The ambiance of sniffles and coughing, like that of the reception, seemed to fill this room too and spotting one of the Doctors she was familiar with Alex decided to ask what was wrong.
"Morning," Alex greeted with a friendly smile. "Is everything alright? I couldn't help but notice that a lot of people seem to be under the weather today."
The doctor sighed tiredly and nodded, confirming Alex's observations. "Yes, unfortunately, it seems that there's a flu-like bug going around. We've been seeing an increase in patients with respiratory symptoms over the past couple of days. We're doing our best to provide care, but it's definitely keeping us busy."
Alex's concern grew as she processed the information. "Is it affecting the staff too? You don’t look too good yourself Doc.” While most of the staff were aliens themselves and did have a little bit more protective, there was still a good number of human employees.
Dr. Ramirez nodded again, a hint of weariness in their eyes. "Yeah, a few of our staff members have fallen ill as well. It's a bit of a challenge, this strain is appearing to be highly contagious, but we’ll get through it. We have some people on stand-by to cover if need be.”
Alex's eyes widened a little. The flu was bad news, especially in a clinic where a diverse range of alien species sought treatment. She couldn't help but wonder if Agent Wilson's decision to wear a mask was more justified than she had initially thought.
"Is there anything I can do to help?" Alex asked, her determination to assist in any way she could shining through.
Dr. Ramirez's weary expression brightened a little at her offer. "Actually, there is something you could do," they replied gratefully. "Since we're short-staffed due to many doctors and nurses falling ill. If you could lend a hand with triaging patients and assisting in basic medical procedures, it would be a tremendous help."
Without hesitation, Alex nodded, her sense of duty and compassion driving her forward. "Of course, I'll do whatever I can. Just tell me what needs to be done."
For the remainder of the morning, she continued to help out where necessary, leaving security down to the other agent. It was definitely a lot faster paced but with her background in biochemistry she was well within her depth. By lunchtime it seems her efforts were paying off as the clinic seemed to slow down a little and she was given the go ahead to return back to her position.
As Alex made her way back to the security desk, she couldn't help but feel a wave of exhaustion wash over her. The adrenaline and determination that had fuelled her earlier were slowly waning, replaced by a growing fatigue. She attributed it to the increased workload and the emotional toll of seeing so many sick patients.
Agent Wilson looked up from his desk as Alex approached, his expression filled with surprise. "You're back already? I thought you'd be stuck over there forever, playing doctor."
Ignoring his snide remark, Alex mustered a weak smile. "It was a bit chaotic, but we managed to get things under control. The staff appreciated the help."
Wilson raised an eyebrow, a hint of grudging admiration in his voice. "Well, I guess you're not completely useless after all."
She huffed, shooting the agent a dirty look, “Look if you’ve got a problem with me, leave it at the door. Don’t bring that attitude into- wor- Hh'iishoo! Huh’tshoo!” She quickly bent to the side to catch her sneezes into cupped hands, sniffling at the feeling of subtle pressure rising in her sinuses.
“I don’t think that’s hygienic Danvers.” He shook his head, as the agent went to go grab some tissues from a nearby box.
She sighed, realising that Agent Wilson was somewhat right. Sneezing into her hands wasn't the best practice, especially considering the contagious nature of the flu-like bug going around. She quickly discarded the used tissues into a nearby bin and reached for a hand sanitiser bottle on the security desk, squeezing some onto her palms and rubbing them together.
"You're right, my bad," Alex admitted, her voice slightly muffled by her stuffed nose.
Agent Wilson's mocking wavered slightly as he observed Alex's tired appearance or maybe it was the fact that Alex Danvers actually apologised to him, "Wow, an apology from Danvers. You have a fever or something?”
“Just leave it.” Alex's voice was tinged with exhaustion and frustration. She didn't feel like entertaining Agent Wilson's sudden concern. The fatigue that had settled over her earlier was now accompanied by body aches and a growing headache. She had been so focused on helping at the clinic that she hadn't noticed her own symptoms creeping in.
As the day progressed, her energy waned, and she found herself struggling to focus. Her body felt heavy, and she was occasionally having to turn away to muffle raspy coughs into her elbow which only led to her throat becoming sore. But she tried to ignore it. She had blamed the AC at first, it was just turned up too high... yeah. That was it.
But with each passing hour, her condition deteriorated further. The fatigue intensified, making it difficult for her to stand upright. Her head throbbed with every movement, and the touch of a fever began to set in, leaving her feeling alternately hot and cold, as beads of sweat lined her brow all-while chills ran up her arms.
“Don’t you look healthy.” The male agent had commented snidely the next time Alex had learnt her head back against the wall.
Alex's patience was wearing thin, and she shot him a glare. "I'm not feeling well, okay? So can you please just lay off with the comments?" Her voice was tinged with irritation and exhaustion before giving in to the burning at the back of her throat as she gave a few chesty sounding coughs into her elbow.
Agent Wilson seemed taken aback by her response, his mocking demeanour fading momentarily. "Oh... I didn't realise you were actually not feeling good." he mumbled, his tone softening, “Sorry.”
Unbeknownst to her, a kind-hearted doctor, Dr. K'ora, had been in earshot and had noticed the agents declining condition. She approached her with a warm smile, "Excuse me, Agent Danvers, may I borrow you for a moment?”
Alex nodded, looking over her shoulder to confirm it was okay with Wilson and he waved her off. She felt a sudden tickle in her nose, a telltale sign that a sneeze was imminent. She quickly turned away, covering her face with her elbow, and let out a series of forceful sneezes. "Huh'kshhoo! Huh-choo! Huh'tshoo!" she sneezed, her body shaking with the force of each.
Dr. K'ora gestured towards a nearby tissue box, concern evident in her eyes. "Goodness, bless you. I think it’d be a good idea to let me take a look at you, Agent Danvers. You don't look well at all." The doctor commented as she escorted the agent towards a small side room.
"Thank you," Alex said weakly, her voice hoarse and barely audible. "I didn't realise I was feeling this bad until now." She reached up to rub her temples, trying to alleviate the pounding headache that had settled in.
Dr. K'ora placed a gentle hand on Alex's shoulder, her touch comforting. "It's not uncommon for people to push through and ignore their own health when they're focused on helping others," she said kindly. "But it's important to take care of yourself too. Let me check your symptoms and see what's going on."
Alex nodded, grateful for the doctor's understanding. She sat back in the chair, allowing Dr. K'ora to examine her. The doctor felt her forehead, noting the warmth radiating from her skin, and listened to her lungs with a stethoscope. After a thorough examination, Dr. K'ora stepped back, a concerned expression on her face.
"I'm sorry to say, Agent Danvers, but it seems you've caught the flu that's been going around," Dr. K'ora explained gently. "Your symptoms—fatigue, headache, body aches, coughing, and sneezing—are all indicative of the flu. It's important that you take some time off and rest."
Alex's heart sank. She had hoped it was just a passing illness, but it seemed she was in for a rough few days. "I’m sorry, is this going to cause a problem with staffing? My shift isn’t due for end for a few hours yet.”
Dr. K'ora smiled kindly. "It happens to the best of us. I will inform your superiors and arrange for someone to pick you up. In the meantime, please make yourself comfortable here."
As the doctor left to inform the necessary personnel, Alex settled into the small room, grateful for the opportunity to rest. She curled up on the examination table, wrapping herself in a blanket provided by the clinic. The fatigue weighed heavily on her, and her body felt achy and weak.
Time passed slowly as she lay there, her mind wandering through a haze of fever and discomfort. She thought about Maggie and how she would react when she found out. She hoped her girlfriend wouldn't worry too much, knowing that she had a habit of being overprotective.
As if on cue, a soft knock on the door interrupted Alex's thoughts. She weakly called out, giving permission for the person to enter. To her relief, it was a familiar face—Maggie. Alex's heart skipped a beat at the sight of her girlfriend, a mix of worry and tenderness evident on her face.
“I heard you weren’t feeling well, poor thing.” She soothed, letting her hand come to rest over the warm forehead of the agent as she came to sit beside her.
Alex leaned into Maggie's touch, finding solace in her presence. "Hey," she whispered hoarsely, a weak smile gracing her lips. "I didn't expect you to come all the way here."
Maggie brushed a strand of hair away from Alex's forehead gently. "Of course I would come," she replied softly. "You're not feeling well, and I wanted to be here for you. How are you holding up?"
Alex let out a weak chuckle, followed by a cough. "I've been better," she admitted.
"You always put others first, Alex. It's time to let someone take care of you now." Maggie’s voice was filled with concern and affection as she offered her arms out to her girlfriend, pulling her into a warm hug.
In that moment, Alex realised how lucky she was to have Maggie by her side. She buried her face in Maggie's shoulder, feeling a mix of gratitude and vulnerability wash over her. Maggie's presence provided comfort and reassurance, reminding Alex that she didn't have to face this illness alone.
As they sat there, wrapped in each other's embrace, Alex's fatigue started to catch up with her. The weight of her eyelids became heavier, and her body begged for rest. Maggie sensed her exhaustion and gently guided Alex to lie down on the examination table, adjusting the blanket to keep her warm.
"Should we get you home, hm?" Maggie whispered, her voice filled with tenderness. "We can stop on the way and pick up some soup from that takeout you like, that might help you feel better. Whatever you need I’m sure we can get it.”
Alex nodded weakly, her eyes fluttering closed. "That sounds... nice, but what about your pizza?" she murmured, already feeling the pull of sleep tugging at her, “’Mm tired Maggs.”
“Pizza can wait, what you need is something easy right now. I know you’re tired baby, you can go to sleep in the car alright?”
“Thanks.”
Maggie sat by her side, gently stroking Alex's hair, a soft smile on her face. "Always, love. Now, let’s get you home.”

AU where Lena is questioned by Colonel Haley in regards to her relationship with Supergirl, with Haley certain that Lena is close enough to her by now to know her real name. Or at peast hold some clue that could lead Haley to answers.
Lena doesn't help herself any by deflecting any and all questions ("a clandestine government organization illegally detaining a private citizen without due process, not a good look for you" / "bold of you to assume a Luthor and Super share anything beyond a superficial working relationship"), which only serves to both frustrate Haley and embolden her to taunt Lena with her executive order *from the president* and the fact she has carte blanche to get answers.
Eventually, Haley breaks out the truth seeker. But to her consternation, Lena is able to resist its influence by dissociating and squirreling herself away in one of her famous boxes. It doesn't negate the physical effects of the truth seeker, but does prevent the spilling of any secrets. (Lena doesn't know Kara's secrets, but she knows a bigot when she sees one, and has enough loyalty and affection towards SG that she refuses to give ANYTHING.)
Which means hours later, after Haley withdraws to let Lena suffer alone with the truth seeker still on her arm, Alex hears a whisper of Lena's detainment at the DEO and storms into the interrogation room. She finds Lena sweat soaked and shuddering where she's cuffed to the table, barely conscious.
Haley calmly walks in when Alex demands that Lena be released and the truth seeker removed. The Colonel declines at first, until Alex leverages Lena's celebrity against them ("do you really think the president will stand behind you when people ask why Lena Luthor died in federal custody?").
In the end, Lena is released, and Alex takes her to Kara's to recover. Where Kara comes home (from searching the city for Lena, who missed a lunch date with Kara) and nearly explodes when she finds out what's happened. At this point, Alex has no memory of Kara being an alien, and she thinks Kara doesn't know that she's not an FBI agent. So she confesses everything right then and there, and Kara has to pretend she didn't know.
Kara diligently watches over Lena until Lena wakes briefly, confirming to them that she's on the mend. Only then does Kara leave, spinning into her supersuit and slamming into the DEO, radiating rage. With dozens of weapons pointed at her, she zeroes in on Haley with eyes aglow.
"Lena Luthor is off limits."
Haley scowls. "You're hardly in any position to make demands, Kryptonian."
Supergirl's head tilts, before she disappears in a blur of motion. In a blink, a pile of weapons are at her feet, and a squadron of stunned agents struggle to register how their guns left their hands.
"Think again." Supergirl's hands curl into fists at her sides. "Come near her again, or anyone else I love, and I will grind your entire organization into the ground."
"Is that a threat?"
"It's a promise."
Taking a step backwards onto the balcony, Kara holds Haley's gaze for a pointed moment, before launching into the sky faster than the human eye could follow, cracking concrete in her wake.

Thinking about Astra's death in Supergirl. And... they could have avoided the question of whether Alex made the right choice killing Astra entirely - which Alex definitely could have ended that fight non-lethally, though whether choosing to kill Astra was the right call or not is a question I just don't know the answer to - if Non had attempted to kill Kara... thus breaking his promise to Astra.
He'd basically broken his promise to Astra already, since Non attacked Kara with the Black Mercy. Which would have eventually killed Kara, after taking it's time to do so. So the show has already established that if Non thinks he can get away with killing Kara through loophole abuse then he'll absolutely go for it. He sees Kara as a weakness Astra cannot afford.
Meanwhile, Kara has been chipping away at Astra's resolve. She's already softened from her attitude at the start of the season at this point. She spent a long time blaming Allura for imprisoning her and blaming Kara by association. But being around Kara has reminded her of how much she loves Kara. And how much she loved Allura. She's not compartmentalizing the way Non thinks she should anymore. Non is, in this case, quite right that Kara is a weakness to Astra.
And as interesting as it would have been to have had Astra stay the main villain until the end of the season, it also would have been interesting if Non took his fight with Kara as a chance to kill Kara. All they'd have to do to set things up ahead of time would be to have Non acquire a kryptonite knife while Astra was briefly locked up by the DEO. Then he pulls it out during his fight with Kara.
Meanwhile, Alex actually does get through to Astra in their fight. Rattles her. Sends her off to check in on Non's fight with Kara and when she gets there she sees the knife. She knows what Non intends. And Astra intervenes, taking a fatal blow meant for Kara.
Non, of course, blames Kara because he can't deal with being responsible for his wife's death. Which might actually make Non an interesting character as he struggles to keep the remaining Kryptonians under his command and self destructs over the circumstances of his wife's deaths. I'd imagine the Kryptonians he's working with wouldn't be thrilled to learn Non killed their General. At least, a lot of them wouldn't. Enough to potentially split their forces and clearly cause dissension in the ranks for him to deal with. And Non himself becoming increasingly erratic because he doesn't know how to deal with the fact that he'd just kept his promise to his wife then she wouldn't have died saving Kara from him.
#supergirl meta#fandom meta#supergirl#non was just kind of boring to me to be honest#he was kind of flat every time he was on screen#he needed something to be more interesting once he took over for Astra as the lead villain#but he never really got it#maybe something like this could have been it#anyway... if anyone wants to take this idea and run with it just let me know when there's something to read :D

So the cover is that Kara is friends with Supergirl, and through Alex is also friends with J’onn…and Nia’s friends with both through association?
I’d half assumed that with Nia and Brainy openly being an item, and him not really wearing a disguise in public - given he wore his inducer more often than his real face - that was as much supposed to be Nia’s connection to the Super Friends as being friends with Kara, who just so happens to also be friends with Supergirl. Even if Brainy’s not particularly careful about hiding his care for Dreamer when they’re out in the field…
Honestly if I think about this for too long my brain starts to hurt, so...
I feel like there have certainly been some... inconsistencies with Brainy's 'human' identity. When he first started assimilating to the 21st century, it appeared to be a persona he only really used for ordering food. People aren't really gonna question the name Barney in the same way they'd question Brainy, Brainiac 5 or Querl, after all.
We know that Yvette knew Brainy as Barney, but it's never really made clear who else knew what. Do Nia's co-workers know Brainy as Barney? Does William? Considering Brainy wasn't in this week's episode, we haven't seen the two of them interact, so really that's still anyone's guess.
Andrea was able to find documentation on the Super Friends, and while Dreamer's identity may not have been known, Lex would have certainly known everything about Brainy. To add to that, Brainy was briefly the Director of the DEO, and while the DEO used to be a pretty secretive operation, we know that the organisation was out in the open when Lex took control of it. Brainy was going by Director Dox, and although he wore his image inducer, if his name had been known at that time, you'd imagine that so would his identity.
Brainy doesn't exactly have a 'secret' identity as much as he has an ordinary name he brandishes in circumstances where he'd rather people assume he's human. Until Andrea started prying into the Super Friends as people, it wasn't really explained whether the public even knew who the Super Friends were. Dreamer had been interviewed by Kara, J'onn's identity was already out in the open, but Sentinel was new on the scene and Brainy had spent most of his time acting as an agent of the DEO rather than a vigilante. When he was out on the streets, it wasn't exactly like he was gaining public notice, so it's difficult to tell what civilians knew of him, if anything at all.
Now, of course, Brainy is openly fighting as a superhero, and he has done so both with and without his inducer. What does this mean, exactly? Well, it's late, I'm tired, and I'll be honest, I'm not totally sure. But, hey, if we're living in a world where a pair of glasses makes you totally unrecognisable, then maybe just being out of costume is enough to convince people Brainy is a totally different person. 🤷🏻♀️
#supergirl#nia nal#brainiac 5#my asks#not writing#anon#if i've missed any indicators to what people know please fill me in because i probably have missed stuff#but it it still rather inconsistent#also while writing this i just got an image of brainy ordering starbucks with his human name and they still spell it wrong

Alex jumped at the sound of loud bangs, yelling and gun fire, blinking the fogginess from her eyes and letting out a groan, trying to move her hands to try and rub at her head but found them tied up behind her with a rope that is digging into the soft skin of her palms uncomfortably
"What?" Alex asked confusedly, taking in her surrounding for a moment, having forgotten where she was for a moment.
"Oh." Alex let out after it dawned on her like a slap in the face.
"WHO INVITED YOU TWO?! Not that I'm complaining, Miss Luthor will be ecstatic to get her hands on such prized aliens." A guard yelled out, firing his gun again as Alex tried to look but couldn't.
"Oh I doubt that even a dick can get her ecstatic, not than anyone would even touch her with a 10 feet pole in the first place." You said smuggly, arms crossed over the silver wolf head logo on your chests matted black armored suit.
Kara eyes widened at your words, thinking to herself 'Yep, sarcastic, foul mouted and dirty just like before.'
The guard almost let out a snort at your choice of words but immediately regained his composure, firing at you again.
"What's it with ya mortals? Bullets can't harm us." You said amusedly as the bullets bounced off of you and Kara.
More guards came streaming in, firing away at the both of you.
You gave Kara a smirk, making her roll her blue eyes at you but give a smile back. "Let's get em'."
"Just don't kill anyone." Kara chuckled, watching you.
"Can't make any promises dearie." You winked before swinging at the nearest guard, punching away at any guards.
"Figured you'd say something like that." Kara said them join in on taking the guards out.
Alex huffed, strands of her hair flying out of her face. "Damn Kryptonians." She said amusedly after hearing the conversations.
You turned into wolf form, running past Alex before stopping and looking at her and give her a wolfish grin.
Alex rolled her brown eyes at you but a tiny smile tug at her plum lips none the less.
You watched her for a moment further with glowing red eyes before jumping at the guard that came running from the front inbetween the rusted containers, a loud bang being created by the impact, making Alex cringe, only imaging how that impact must have felt.
Kara spared a glance at Alex while hovering in the air slightly, a struggling guard held by his armors collar in a iron grip. Kard give her a hint of a smile, glad that her sister is okay before throwing the guard in hand against another two's backs that went to try and take a blow at you making them groan in both pain and shock.
You shook your head out of the daze, nodding your head at Kara in a silent thanks and respect, Kara giving you two thumps up in reply before using x-ray vision to make sure there aren't anymore guards around, landing next to her sister when seeying that all the guards are unconscious around them save for the three groaning guards that are in too much pain to even move.
"Whoops, maybe I threw that one a little too hard." Kara chuckled nervously, figeting with the sleeve of her armor suit.
"Just a tad maybe. But hardly I could've done it better." You motioned with your fingers teasingly as you stepped up to them in human form now, (e/c) eyes shimmering in amusment.
"Is that a challenge?" Kara folded her arms over her chest, eyebrow raised.
"Maybe." You smirked.
"What are the two of you doing here? Not that I mind but how did you manage to get her on our side? And I thought she refused to go near any CADMUS buildings and people." Alex looked up at Kara.
"I only came because she promised good food." You crossed your arms over your chest once again, half covering the wolf head logo again, taking note of how Alex subtly tries to eye it, only causing you to grin more.
"Oh just admit that you do care and are going soft." Kara elbowed you, grinning amusedly as you pretend to be hurt by her.
"Ugh, whatever blondie."
"As much as I love seeying you guys bonding can you first get me out of this ropes and out of here before CADMUS backup arrive." Alex pipped in, impatiently struggling against the restraints again, gritting her teeth at the pain it cause in her now raw wrists.
"Aww but it's kinda kinky seeying you like that. All tied up-"
"Shut it wolf." Alex glared.
"Make me Princessa." You smirked at the red haired woman.
Alex only glared more making you laugh as you untie her.
"Thanks." Alex huffed, rubbing at her wrists.
You only winked at her, standing next to Kara.
"Thanks for the help. You have a great nose to sniff people out." Kara thanked you, pating you on the shoulder as you began to make your way outside with Alex.
"It was no biggie Kar. Was kinda fun." You smiled at the blonde kryptonian.
"Will we see you again?" Alex suddenly asked, grabbing at your armored clad arm as you three stood outside, taking careful steps to not step on more unconscious guards that layed around the place.
You looked down at her hand on your arm for a moment before looking back up into her eyes.
"Of course you will. I'll meet ya both back at the DEO base, gotta take care of a few things first though." You explained, smiling at Alex.
Alex could feel a small blush brusing at her cheecks as she think 'Woah, she have such seductively pretty (e/c) eyes.'
"Better watch yourself out there then and get to the DEO so I can test you to see if you are really that tough." Alex removed her arm and watch as you walked past Kara.
"We can do a lot more than just testing Agent Danvers. We can-Ouch!" You yelped as Kara smacked you in the back of the head.
"Don't talk dirty in front of me about my sister." Kara teased, grinning as you glare at her.
"Pussy blocker." You snort but continued walking, giving them one last glance before dissapearing into the forest.
Alex tried to hide her blush but Kara end up teasingly raising and eyebrow at her. "I ship this."
"Yeah yeah, whatever you say. Let's get back to the base." Alex tugged her by the elbow.
"I'm going to help plan the wedding! No questions asked!"
"Kara!"
🐺🐾🐺🐾🐺🐾🐺🐾🐺🐾🐺🐾🐺🐾🐺🐾
It was the next day when you showed up at the DEO, (e/c) eyes taking in everything in awe as agents went on with their work.
"Glad to see you've finally showed up here." A male voice said from your left, making you spun and face the person, seeying Hank Henshaw stand there.
"Hank." You greeted the martian, earning a tiny smile from him as he gestured you to follow him.
"What is your name? Haven't gotten it because we were in a hurry to save agent Danvers." Hank looked at you, allowing you to step into the elegant elevator first, following behind soon after.
"How about you tell me your real name first martian, then I'll tell you mine."
He looked shocked for a moment.
"Wait how do you know I'm a-" He began but you pointed at your nose before he could even finish his question.
"I can identify any alien species from humans. I have a good nose." You explained.
"I like even more already." He smiled at you.
"My real name is J'onn J'onzz." He held out a hand to you.
"Nice to meet ya, names (Y/N)." You shook his hand firmly, suprising him even more.
"You have great strength." J'onn aknowledge respectfully.
"Oh that's nothing, you should see the metal container I tackled that guards against last night, I doubt the guy will ever wake up and be removed intact from it." You mused out, stepping out onto the floor when the elevator doors opened.
"You are full of surprises." J'onn chuckled under his breath.
"What's live without a little surprises?" You followed him as he lead you towards what seem to be a big office, allowing you to enter first then closing the door behind the both of you.
Taking in the office you spotted Kara sitting in chair and flipping through a file, curiously looking up when you and J'onn entered, a bright smile immediately crossing her face upon seeying you, throwing the file to the side without a care as she jumped up.
"You came!" Kara pulled you into a hug.
"Of course. I had nothing else better to do anyways. And I guess it wouldn't hurt to give a shot at the DEO, maybe I can be of better help here." You returned her hug before taking a seat where J'onn have gestured in front of his desk after he sat down too, Kara taking her seat too again after picking up the file she have thrown.
J'onn turned his attention back to you, hands folded on the desk as he eye you curiously.
"I have a few questoins to ask you if you don't mind."
"Ask away." You said.
"We want to know what powers and abilities you have." He explained, hoping he doesn't seem like an enemy to you.
"Well aside from shape shifting into a huge wolf and super strength, I have better smelling and seeying senses than humans, super speed and can endure both extremely cold and hot tempretures, Illusion, psychokinesis, and have x-ray vision, laser vision and also hell-fire breath that can melt through anything and pretty much bullet proof like Kara and can sometimes mimic others powers if I concentrate hard enough."
"Interesting. I'd like to spar with you to test those abilities." J'onn said, intrigued by this.
Kara looked intrigued by this too. "Wait. What? That is cool. I don't have all those."
"Jealous?" You teased the blonde, folding your arms against the chairs top and leaning against them.
Kara glared playfully. "Maybe."
"Trust me, these powers are fun and all but the getting them was not so fun with CADMUS. It was extremely painfull and I had to suffer everyday for a few years. The old hag even managed to take away my flight ability with an expiriment gone wrong."
Both J'onn and Kara looked at you in sympathy.
"I'm a sorry we couldn't have rescued you." J'onn said truthfully.
You gave them both a comforting smile. "Hey it's okay. You didn't know and they are a shady but dangerous corperation. I'm just glad I've met someone there that have helped me escape. We still are best friends. Never could really loose contact and that was all fine with us both."
J'onn studied you. "Who helped you escape? You don't have to answer that if you don't want to."
You pursed your lips, hesitating for a moment. "Well, believe it or not, it was their little black sheep of the family, Lena Luthor."
With that said a memory flew through Kara's mind with her and Lena's talk on the balcony.
"I know that she was my mothers best expiriment and weapon to use against her enemies. And for who helped her escape, I don't know who it was. Maybe it was someone with a death wish."
That rang throug her head a few times. "Lena you genuis sneaky little vixen. Only you would go against your own mother."
You chuckeld at the blonde kryptonian. "Lena told me that you've asked about me. I arrived at her office right after you've left."
"Oh you two are sneaky little vixens. I should've know she was half lying."
"She only did it to protect us both. She is a protective friend ya know. We'd do anything to keep each other safe, we only had each other. And besides, she didn't know that we used to be childhood besties." You explained.
"Good. Now you have me too then." Kara said truthfully.
J'onn softly smile at the two of you. "I'm glad she've helped you. She's a good woman that are full of surprises just like you."
🐺🐾🐺🐾🐺🐾🐺🐾🐺🐾🐺🐾🐺🐾🐺🐾
You walked next to Kara as J'onn walked at the front, leading you through the DEO, showing you around the place.
"Sir!" A guy came running towards J'onn.
"Winn." He greeted, coming to a stop and looking down at him. "What is it?"
Winn's eyes immediately lit up when seeying you, pushing Kara aside earning a startled 'Hey!' from the blonde Kryptonian as he stood by you bubbling with excitement.
"It's such an honor to finally meet you." He akwardly greeted, holding a hand out. "I'm Winn."
You smiled at the akward man, shaking his hand firmly just like you did with J'onn, amused at his shock and excitiment. "I'm (Y/N)."
"I know this a probably to soon to ask but...can I please desing you a suit?"
"Winn!" J'onn glared, making you laugh.
"Woah dude. Thanks for the offer but a Luthor already beated ya to it."
Winn tried to hide a pout. "Ah man, Lena's good with designing. But...if you ever want new suits keep me in mind please."
"I will keep that in mind Winn, thanks." You watched as he bubbled up with excitiment before rushing away again after J'onn dismissed him.
You and Kara began to follow him again for awhile until he led you into what seems to be a huge impressive training room.
"Very nice." You said more to yourself before you spotted Alex sparring with another agent.
"Loving the view." You mused, arms crossed as you lean against a wall, head tilted to the side when Alex lost her focus and the other agent kicked her legs and knocking her over as she cuss under her breath, making you and J'onn give each other a cheecky smile at the red haired agents fail.
Alex got back up, not exceptting the agent hao that wanted to help her up. "I'm fine, you are dismissed Agent Lopez." Watching as the lacky man scurry away before turning to see you, Kara and J'onn chuckling at her.
"Well would you look at that, I have to get back to CatCo. Miss Grant wants me to do....something." Kara slipped away before Alex could send her her famous cold glare.
Alex shot you both a 'not amused' look, making you and J'onn stop, playfully holding your hands up.
"You are late." Alex finally spoke up, moving closer.
"Oh, honey, no. I'm never late. I arrive exactly when I have to. And I had to take care of other things too before I came here."
"And what other things might that have been?" Alex prod.
"Nothing bad, was just helping out a lady."
Alex gave you a look. "Helping out a lady?"
You smirked even more. "Yep." You said popping the p and looking around the room again as J'onn sneakily leave the room.
"Interesting. Good to see you came." Alex said, watching as your (e/c) eyes scan the room curiously before you ran to the salmon ladder in the room.
"Awesome! I love this workout." You threw off your shirt, revealing a black training bra as Alex watched.
You immediately got started, ignoring the agent that is watching you.
"Enjoying the view Princesa?" You teased when feeling her eyes heavily scanning over you
"Shut up." Alex scoffed, looking away briefly and muttering "maybe." under her breath before looking back up at you again as you sent her a wink before concentrating again.
"I can't wait to kick your smug ass." Alex said.
"Ya wish Danvers."
"Where did you learn this workout session? It looks like you've been doing it for years." Alex sneaked a glance at your flexing abs and well built arms, bitting her lower lip to try and keep away her not so innocent thoughts.
You've didn't fail to notice her subtle glance, smuggly smiling at her again.
"I've learned this and much more by CADMUS. They've always made their best train and workout everyday. Can't say I mind the workouts from them but the expirimenting not at all. I kept working out even after Lena have helped me escape that place. She have an epic gym at her place I we both use." You explained, still focused.
"Lena helped you? Woah, who would've though that. You two seem close if you two keep in contact."
"Yeah, we are good friends. We tend to work together on projects at times and hang out when she's free which aren't that often. The poor woman overwork herself too much. Have told her to take breaks often but she's a stuborn one." You looked at Alex once you were back on the ground.
"Sure does sound like her." Alex watched you again as you went for another round on the salmon ladder.
"I've heard Lena mentoined you and Kara by her. She said she goes to the game nights. Does she know that you are an agent and that Kara is Supergirl? She've never mentioned that."
"No, she doesn't know that. It's best that way." Alex explained.
"Yikes." You spared another glance at her. "Don't wanna be there if the secret gets found out."
Alex pursed her lips, arms folded. "You won't tell her right?"
"I'm against keeping secrets from my friend but it's not my place to tell. So, No, I won't tell her."
Alex let's out a relieved sigh. "Thanks."
🐺🐾🐺🐾🐺🐾🐺🐾🐺🐾🐺🐾🐺🐾🐺🐾
Man I'm obsessed with salmon ladder workout way too much. Sorry for the long wait, had to wait for insperation to smack me first and drag myself out of my depressed state I was in. Don't know when the next part will be posted or if it will be posted. Welp hope ye guys like this part, stay safe my peeps.

Trying to Un-Hate Season 3 Part 12894293nx9qn8913q
Let’s talk about the Kara centric storylines in season 3.
Yes, Kara had a storyline in season 3. In fact, she had multiple storylines.
1.) Dealing with how to handle Mon-El is still a meaningful storyline for Kara
I have always disagreed that a storyline about a romantic relationship somehow doesn't "count" as character development. And I think Supergirl season 3 is a perfect example of this. I'm not going to claim that it was a great or exciting storyline but it was still undoubtedly a story about Kara.
This storyline told us a lot about Kara the person. How she deals with grief, with guilt, with disappointment, with frustration. How she reacts. How she gets over things. What she values.
The writers used this storyline to delve deep into Kara's background and characterization, it was used to tell us about Kara's anxiety attacks and how she felt stuck alone in a pod as a child, it was used to trigger a trip to Alex and Kara's childhood and to talk about Kara's early days on earth in the "coma" episode.
2.) Identity
If I had to sum up Kara's plot in regards to identity in season 3, I would say it's about Kara still feeling her way around and being unsure about it. I think it is best illustrated with some quotes from the season.
Kara: Kara Danvers sucks right now! [...] I don't like that girl, Alex.
Kara: I am not a human.I tried to be.But I'm not. Kara Danvers was a mistake.
Kara: the second she saw my vulnerability, she became disillusioned. I let my mask down for one second,and look what happens.
Mon-El: All you can do is be true to yourself.
Kara: Which self?
Kara: I just wish my day-to-day life didn't have to have a disguise.
Kara: Out here with just you, I don't have to pretend. I can just be me.
Mon-El: You get to just be you here, Supergirl.
Kara: Not Supergirl. Kara Zor-El.
Kara: It just feels amazing to be normal.
Kara: I've lost track of what I stand for.
Kara: Before we went to Argo, I just had this thought that I could be Kara Zor-El, ordinary citizen.
Kara: Balancing Kara and being a hero, that's...That's who I am.
Kara of course starts out burying herself in her Supergirl role and wanting to suppress her Kara Danvers side. Alex tries to counterbalance this, most noticably by bringing Kara back to the Danvers' chlldhood home. In this theme is also Kara running into problems with her secret identity and this being contrasted against James desire to reveal his identity as Guardian. Next follows Kara finding out that Argo and a group of Kryptonians survived and wanting to spend some time there before the villains revealing themselves very quickly pushes her back into the fight.
I can see why one could read the end of the season as Kara having made a definitive decision on this question, but I think considering this theme continues on into season 4, I think it's just a general ongoing story that season 3 happened to add to, just like 1 and 2 also did.
3.) Kara's Kryptonian legacy
This story thread starts subtly, dropping the first hints about Kryptonian religion in The Faithful.
Over the season it turns out that the season big bad and their motivation ties deeply into Kryptonian theology and history. We find out quite a bit about Kryptonian religious/metaphysical concepts (even if most of that is pretty lame fantasy stuff). And it even spins into a halfway interesting story about Kara's unease with using potentially dangerous Kryptonian substances (Kryptonite and the Harun-El) to fight the villain.
To me the cornerstones of this story are the Coville cult worshipping Kara as a god, Kara taking the trip back to Fort Rozz and meeting the Kryptonian witch, everything to do with spirit world, Kara reacting badly to presence of Kryptonite and them going back and forth on whether it should be used in the battle against Reign, the motivation of the masterplan villains particularly including accusing the mainline Kryptonians of suppressing them and their religion, Kara pleading with the Kryptonian council for the Harun-El, Alura taking most of the Harun-El with her at the end of the season and this spinning into the next season.
4.) To kill or not to kill
This season sets up a very deliberate scenario. The main antagonist Reign has a side to her that is pure, that is innocent. And not just in the abstract sense. Sam Arias is a character who both we the audience and the main characters know and get a lot of exposure to.
Just as we meet the nice side of the Reign, the show also puts in some effort to sell is the danger of Reign, whether it is through Kara losing a drag out battle to her or through the people coming in from the future to tell us of the long lasting negative effects Reign and her companions will have, upping the stakes, both personally (the life of Sam, the happiness of Ruby) and globally (not just the world, the future, not just earth, but also Argo or at least Argo's soul and culture is at stake). It should be noted how the show even weaves in the death of a minor, named, "goodguy" DEO character.
This whole concept of the duality of Reign and Sam gets really delved in in the later half of the season, where the desire to stop Reign conflicts with the problem of Sam and how to handle her.
At first it's not just the question of killing or not killing, it's about killing an innocent as collateral damage to stop a great evil.
Kara's preference towards not killing is probably tested heaviest in this season. This issue on whether or not to kill the worldkillers gets debated over and over again this season by a variety of characters and it is noteworthy for the high number of "good guy" characters who come down on the side of killing for the greater good (most notably Lena, James, Imra and Alura).
And we even see Kara herself falling prey to that mindset and then reversing time to undo it, before the season ends on the conclusion that violence is not the answer.
~~~~~~~~
I'm not claiming that these were all great stories or that all of them were fleshed out enough for everybody's taste. Still, to me those are the storylines that reached some amount of depth and even though the quality might not be what it was in season 1 (what is ...), the impression I walk away with is still of a season that felt like it had quite a bit to say about Kara/Supergirl as a character.
oof. please imagine Alex asking Brainy why he doesn't carry a weapon, when they go on DEO missions, and Brainy confessing that he considers/considered himself a living weapon and thus doesn't need one
There are a lot of things that Alex notices about Querl. Like the how he acts around other people. How reserved he is altogether. But the one thing that she sees more is that he doesn't carry a weapon when they go out on missions.
At all.
So on a relaxed day, Alex saw Querl walking throughout the DEO. Wanting to know why, she walked with him.
"Director," Querl greeted without looking up from his tablet.
"Agent Dox," she greeted. Biting the inside of her lip as she thought about how to ask him.
"Is there something I can help you with?"
The question brought her attention back to Querl, and she wondered (if not for the first time) he had the ability to read minds.
"Actually yeah. I have a question and your free not to answer it," Alex said and continued when he nodded for her to go ahead. "I've noticed that you don't carry weapons when we go out on DEO missions. I was wondering why."
He stopped walking at the question, not expecting it.
"Brainy?" Alex asked, stopping when she noticed he stopped.
"I don't think I need one," he answered after a moment.
"Why's that?"
"I consider myself a living weapon and I find that I don't really need one," he answered. "If that's all, I'll see you around." With that, Querl started walking again.
Alex stood there watching as he walked off, with her heart breaking for him. She really thought about what he said. She's seen him in a fight, remembers him mentions of his thought tracks and how many he has.
She's really glad that Querl's on their side. She couldn't imagine it the other way around.
She made a mental note to remind Querl that she doesn't see him as a weapon. That she sees him a her friend, a person who she can depend on. And by doing that, Alex hopes that one day Querl will see that person she sees.
How about the younger sister of Kara and Alex fights with an eating disorder. They know (Lena, Kara, Alex & J'onn) about her eating disorder and they all are really worried. They all try to help but the younger sister push everyone back because she doesn't want to get help, she just wants to fade away day by day. After an fight with Alex because she doesn't want to eat, she runs away to Lena. Soon Lena will be the one she trusts the most and opening up about her ed and wanting to die? 🤔
TRIGGER WARNING: Eating Disorder, Suicidal Thoughts
A/N: If you are suffering from a mental illness, remember that it’s okay. It is not shameful to have a mental illness, or to get the help you need. Do what you can to help yourself, and that’s enough. Some days will be bad, and that’s perfectly fine - do as much as you can, when you can. There are people in your life who love you so much and they want the best for you. You are loved. And you are so, so strong.
Also, thanks anon, for taking my personal feelings into account and asking beforehand if this was something I would be comfortable writing about. That was super sweet.
“Kara,” you said, stumbling out of your room. “I don’t feel so good.”
“What’s wrong, Y/N? Are you sick?”
“I think -” Before you could force out another word, everything went black around you and you crumpled to the ground.
“Y/N!” Kara yelled. She rushed to your side, picking up your limp body, and flew you to the DEO. You felt so small and frail in her strong arms.
“What happened?” Alex asked as soon as Kara landed in the DEO.
“She fainted. I don’t think she’s been eating.”
“Dang it, Y/N.” Alex said, running beside Kara to the med bay. They lay you in the bed, where Alex hooked an IV to her arm and pumped her with fluids. “This will help.”
Kara sat down on the edge of the bed, taking her little sister’s hand in her own. “I don’t understand. I thought she was getting better.”
“A relapse,” Alex sighed, taking her other hand. “i wish she’d come to us. We could have helped her before it got this bad.”
“How is she?” Lena asked as she strode into the room, J’onn at her heels.
“Stable,” Alex said. “But she needs help, real help. We can’t do enough for her.”
————————————
Y/N’s eyes fluttered open to see your sisters and friends surrounding you. “What happened?”
“Y/N,” Kara said slowly. “How long has it been since you’ve eaten?”
You sighed, turning your head to stare at the wall.
‘This is important,” Alex said. “You’re hurting yourself.”
“I’m fine,” You grumbled, still refusing to look at them. “Can I go home now?”
“No,” Alex said. “You need to rest. You’re getting fluids and you’re getting food.”
“You can’t tell me what to do, Alex.”
Alex opened her mouth to argue, but Lena placed a hand on her shoulder.
“Sweetheart,” Lena said, kneeling next to your bed. “You are going through a very rough time right now. We all love you and we want to help you. You are going to be okay.”
“We love you,” Kara said. “I love you so much. I’m worried about you, Y/N.”
“I’m fine,” You argued, pulling your hand away from her.
———————————————————-
You were at Alex’s apartment, flipping through channels on the TV. Everybody looked so beautiful - it just made you feel worse about yourself. Alex and Kara refused to leave your side, taking shifts when they had to. Kara was out saving the world again, so it was Alex’s turn. You would have rather had anybody else babysit you, but your sisters didn’t give you a choice.
Alex sat down next to you, holding a bowl of soup. “I made this for you. It was your favorite when we were kids.”
“I’m not hungry.”
“Y/N, you have to eat. This is so unhealthy.”
“I’m unhealthy. This is making it better! I don’t want the stupid soup.”
“Okay, that’s it. I’m sending you to a treatment center.”
“Excuse me?”
“I am sending you to a treatment center. This has gone on long enough.”
“I am not going to a treatment center,” You said, standing up.
Alex set the bowl down on the coffee table, matching you. “You have worried your friends and your family to no end. We’re scared that any second you’ll starve yourself to death. Obviously, nothing we’re doing is working, so you are going and that’s final.” Alex raised her eyebrows threateningly, daring you to question her authority, which you did.
“I am an adult now, Alex! You can’t just tell me what to do anymore!”
“If you want to stay out of the center, you need to eat. Right now.”
“No. I can’t!” Your voice broke, you were almost in tears. How could Alex be so mean? How could she not understand?
“You need to eat.” You could tell Alex was equally upset, but you couldn’t quite understand why. “Please.”
“No.”
“We’re leaving tomorrow. I’m going to call the center right now. Sit down and don’t move.” Alex walked into her room to grab her phone. As soon as she was out of sight, you ran from the apartment.
You didn’t look back. You weren’t even sure where you were going. But you ran through the streets, praying Alex wouldn’t follow.
Suddenly, you were at the front doors of L-Corp. She ran through the front door, ignoring the security guard in the lobby as you streaked past him and into the elevator just before the doors closed. You fought back tears as you rode it to the top and shuffled toward Lena’s office.
“Y/N,” Eve said. “Is everything okay?”
You ignored her as you walked into Lena’s office, no longer able to hold back the tears.”What’s wrong?”
Without a word, you sat down on Lena’s couch and started to cry, burying your head in your hands. A moment later, you felt a hand on your back.
“It’s okay, sweetie.” Lena wrapped you in a hug. “Just let it out. It’s okay.”
When you finally stopped crying, you pulled away and gave Lena a small smile.
She brushed a piece of hair out of your face, then cupped your cheek in her hand. “Do you want to talk about it?”
“Alex wants to send me to a treatment center.” You pulled away from Lena, moving your eyes toward the ground.
“That’s rough. Can I tell you something?”
“That you think I should go? I don’t want to hear it.”
“That’s not what I was going to say. Alex is simply trying to look out for you. You are her baby sister, A/N. What you have is not a problem, it’s a disease. There’s nothing wrong with you.”
“Then why does it feel like there is? It feels like everything about me is wrong.” You wiped another tear from your eye.
“You are so strong. I am so proud of you. I want to see you get better. So do your sisters and J’onn. Alex is very worried about you, even though it may not seem like it.”
“It doesn’t feel like it. All of you are so perfect. I’m not like that. I’m so worthless. I don’t even deserve to be here.”
“Hey,” Lena said, a little more forcefully than she meant to. “That is not true. You are the strongest person I know. You are beautiful, you are perfect. I have so much love for you. You inspire me, Y/N. And if you weren’t here, my life would be so dark.”
“You’re just saying that.”
“No. It’s true.” Lena hugged you again. “Why don’t you lay down and rest? I”ll be right here. I’m not going to leave. I promise.”
You nodded. Lena helped you lay down, then pulled out a blanket and threw it over you. You could feel her hand rubbing your arm gently, brushing through your hair. It was only then that you realized how tired you were.
The last thing you remembered before falling asleep was Lena kissing your forehead and whispering and ‘I love you. I’m here for you.’
Moments later, Lena received a phone call from Alex.
“Hey,” Lena said upon answering.
“Lena,” Alex sounded panicked. “Have you seen Y/N? She ran off and I can’t find her.”
“She’s here, at my office. It’s okay. She’s okay.She’s asleep.”
“I’m coming over there.”
“Alex, wait. I would hold off. She’s very upset and needs a little bit of space. Don’t worry, I’ll keep my eye on her and I’ll keep you updated.”
“Are you sure?” Alex asked.
“Of course. She’s like a sister. I’d do anything for her.”
here to politely ask if you have anymore of lena in the mcu
Hello anon! I know I've shared a few snippets here already but after searching for ten minutes I can't find them (I really need to start tagging things properly) So here's one that I'm sure I've already posted.
“What is this?” Kara asked, horrorstuck at what she saw playing out on screen; Lena standing on the rooftop of the L-Corp building standing next to a piece of machinery that shot a pillar of light into the sky. She watched as it ripped a hole in the sky and one of the Chiaturi came spilling out of it. “This isn’t how it happened…” “No,” Lena said flatly. “It isn’t. But it is what people are going to think happened.” She paused the video and stared for a moment at the frozen image of several Chiaturi flying high over the city. “Stark really outdid himself. Of course I’ll never say that to his face because then I’ll never hear the end of it,” she added, shuddering at the mere thought. “Binarily Augmented Retro-Framing. Holograms,” Lena explained, not wanting to get bogged down in the details. “It looks real though, doesn’t it?” “I don’t understand,” Kara said slowly. “Why would you—” Her hand flew to her mouth like a startled bird. “Lena, no!” Got there in the end, Lena thought, smiling a little. “I’ve already sent it to a few of the larger news outlets. Anonymously, of course. If it isn’t already making the rounds already, it will be shortly. There will be more evidence leaked to various sources over the coming days. Irrefutable proof that I’m the one responsible for the Chitauri invasion.” “But you’re not,” Kara said hotly. “You had nothing to do with it.” “I was responsible,” Lena said in a flat tone that only served to make Kara look all the more agitated. “Lena—” “That’s what people need to believe happened,” she explained with a tired kind of patience. “Because the alternative… That the alien invasion was a result of a series of very unlikely events and sheer awful fucking luck, Kara… That won’t fly.” “That’s what happened,” Kara answered testily. “And that doesn't matter,” Lena countered. “If people don't have someone to blame, if they think that there's even a slim possibility that at any moment the sky might rip open again and the chitauri could destroy what's left of National City, who will they blame, Kara?”
Kara let out an impatient little huff. “The chitauri, obviously.”
“Just them? Or will they start blaming everyone who isn't human? Angry people are rarely, if ever, that judicious. The inroads people have made for peaceful alien and human cohabitation will suffer a setback I'm not sure they'll be able to recover from." "That's not true," Kara said, although she didn't sound as self-assured as she usually did. "Half the city is destroyed, Kara. People will need someone to blame. And if it were anyone other than me there would be questions, doubts..." She smiled humorlessly. "But Lena Luthor going off her rocker and nearly destroying the city... That's like having to convince the people the sun sets in the west." "You saved people in the invasion, Lena," Kara said testily. "You and your friends," she added and again Your new friends was what that hint of bitterness in her voice said. "You didn't destroy the city." "I did," Lena insisted. "That's the story, Kara. Whether you're on board or not. Things are already in motion. The DEO—" "What?" Kara said sharply. "What does the DEO have to do with this?" "They're the ones releasing a statement about my capture. In the morning, I believe." "Alex would never..." Kara started to say but trailed off. "I don't think she's happy about lying to the public but she understands that it's the best option. Maybe the only option." "You can't do this, Lena," Kara pleaded. "It's already done," Lena said kindly. "Alea iacta est," she murmured and managed a small smile. "Then why tell me at all, then?" Kara asked testily. "I thought you should hear it from me," Lena said carefully. "And, there's something I need to ask of you." She waited to see if Kara might ask her what it was she wanted but when Kara only continued to stare obdurately back at her she continued on. "There won't be a trial," Lena explained. "The DEO will suggest a more secure punishment in lieu of prison." "What..." "People wouldn't sleep any easier knowing I was in prison. An undoubtedly cushy cell and endless time to plot my next act of villainy... Which is why I need you to send me to the Phantom Zone..." "I would never—"
"That's what people will need to believe. That I'm imprisoned somewhere I can never escape. What I'll really do is return to that other Earth in secret," Lena explained. "I'll never come back here again. The people of National City will never need to worry about Lena Luthor ever again."
Can you write a fic where Kara and Maggie still talk because Kara still needs big sister Maggie and they meet up after Alex gets her mind wiped and Kara doesn't wanna tell her but she needs one of her big sisters to talk to and Maggie is there to support her. I'm convinced Maggie and Kara still talk because she's her family.
I absolutely can! I miss Maggie so much! Hope you like it!
Kara arrives in Metropolis without realizing.
Ever since storming out from J’onn’s office, she’s been flying blind, too distraught to really pay attention to where she’s going, so really, it’s no surprise she ends up in Metropolis.
Except– Clark’s not here anymore, is he? He’s off-planet, so impossibly far, all the way up in Argo with Lois. And their soon-to-be-born baby. Kara’s happy for them, she honestly is, but it doesn’t change the fact she kind of wishes her cousin hadn’t left too, she could use the company.
Too many people are leaving lately and she can’t get used to it fast enough.
And now Alex–
Her vision blurs with tears again, and Kara can’t keep hovering in the sky forever, people are going to notice soon and then there will be a commotion and they will want to ask questions and– it’s too much.
So she goes to the other reason Metropolis isn’t just another city nearby. She lands in an alley near her building, bounds up the stairs, two at a time, and knocks on the door with the chipped paint and the crooked number pinned above.
“Kara? I thought your conference was not until next month,” Maggie opens the door with a smile, already ushering her inside, before noticing the tear tracks and shaking hands. “What happened? Are you okay?”
“Yeah, no, I’m fine,” she does her best to wipe her cheeks, clean her glasses on her shirt, “it’s– no one’s hurt.”
“But? Come on, let me get you some tea and you tell me what’s going on, how does that sound?” Maggie waits for her to nod and sit down on the couch, rushing to the kitchen. Kara hates to barge in like this, but the air in National City had felt heavy and acrid, burning her lungs with each new breath and here, well. It’s not easy, but it’s easier. She mutely counts the tickings of the clock on the wall until Maggie returns, handing her a mug. “Here you go, little Danvers. Now, what happened?”
The rational side of her brain isn’t exactly sure she should be here, talking with Maggie about this. Alex would probably not appreciate it, but– who else would understand her situation better than Maggie? And she’s already going to lie to her sister’s face every day anyway, in for a penny, right? “It’s Alex,” she mumbles, words cutting ragged past her throat, “she’s– Maggie, she doesn’t know I’m Supergirl anymore.”
“What, but how is that possible?” Maggie sets her own mug on the coffee table, frowning, “how can she just forget something like this? Did she lose her memory or– oh.”
“Yeah. J’onn had to wipe her memories because there’s this colonel at the DEO that’s obsessed with finding out my secret identity,” Kara hiccups, refusing to cry again today. The tea warms her, helping calm her nerves, and she takes a deep breath, “she had to forget so I would be safe, but how can I do this without her? She was with me from day one– even when I had nothing, when the whole city was against me, I had Alex. It was always Supergirl and Agent Danvers, I don’t know how to do this alone, I don’t know if I want to.”
Maggie pulls her into a hug, pretends Kara isn’t crying into her shirt, “you’re not alone, Kara. Alex might not remember Supergirl, but she knows you. She will still be your sister, she will still be there for you. And besides, from what I saw on the news the other day, you’ve got more people on your corner, too. Including yours truly, of course.”
“Thanks, Maggie,” she leans back, hugging her knees to her chest and wiping her cheeks on the sleeves of her jacket. “Sorry for dropping in like this. I just. I can’t be there right now, you know?”
“That, I understand, and don’t worry about it,” she pats her knee, offering a comforting smile, “you can stay for as long as you need. But you should let your friends know you’re safe, at least.”
Kara thinks of Brainy’s worried face when she took off without warning, eyes following her up in the clouds. “You’re probably right. I’ll text them in a bit.” She pauses, and her thoughts inevitably circle back to Alex saying she had to do that and that night when she caught the plane and J’onn reaching for Alex’s mind and– she wants to be strong, and she wants to be brave, and she wants to do it for Alex, but. “It’s all just so unfair! We didn’t even have time to look for another way!”
“Okay,” Maggie takes the half-full mug from her hands, tea probably cold by now, and sets it down on the table beside hers. “Why don’t you text your friend now and then explain to me better what’s going on?”
“Yeah, I think,” she sniffles, managing a shaky smile, “I can do that.”
When you’ve processed that episode, I’d love for your thoughts cause holy shit I’ve no clue what that was or that ending was for Kara in context with what we’ve seen so far… and I can’t articulate for shit
So, I've kind of already given the bulk of my thoughts. I'll probably have more as I continue to experience other people's takes as well, but here's some stuff I haven't mentioned yet:
- I like what they did with the love totem. Not for what it did with Lex and Nyxly (tho seeing Lex get dumped was indeed satisfying), but because it was how all of the totems should have been handled. Like, it was an unusual test that revealed something new about the person who underwent the gauntlet. We learned that Nyxly had lines she would not cross, and would do what she personally thought was right. Very cool.
- I like that the second half was all character stuff. Those quieter moments are always my favorite, and it was a nice palate cleanser after the shenanigans and fan service of the final fight.
- I also like that Alex doubted Kara. I can't say I like how it was presented, but I liked the conflict. Because first of all, Kara saying "*I* will fix this, *I* will save Esme" is just more of a burden than she deserves. And also there has to be a point where Alex acts on her own, and I think we found it. Especially when what was really in question was "i will not only blame myself, but also blame you, Kara, Supergirl, Hero of Earth." And by Alex going her own direction it helped her take responsibility-- even if she failed, she would fail knowing she did the best she could. I'm just saying, it made sense to me.
- Lillian and Nyxly were delicious.
- huh. I just realized that William died not knowing Kara's secret. That's kind of interesting in its own right. And I don't mean that in a mean way-- I actually liked him this season. I just mean there's probably a lot we can unpack from the fact that knowing or not knowing Kara's secret doesn't really have as much risk/safety riding on it as Kara thinks it does.
- it'd interesting to explore what a "white ops" DEO would look like. Without the legacy of the original Hank Henshaw's operation, with the cumulative lessons they've learned across the years, how their friend group persists as they each forge their own legacy. And I'd be interested to see how Kara mentors the next legacy of heroes and vigilantes, so that she doesn't have to do as much as Supergirl proper anymore.
- I also want to know what happens to L-Corp. Now that it no longer has to be Luthor/Lex Corp... does Lena return to it? Does she liquidate it? How does it become the entity that solves the daxamite lead poisoning? I don't know enough about how business works to know what options are available to fic writers at this point, if they wanted to explore L-Corp's future.
- It's also worth mentioning that in the second half of the finale, Kara was often alone. She processed a lot of her uncertainty on her own, which reassures me that this is a decision she is truly ready for and truly wants. She only went to two people for guidance, and I think it's telling that those people were her sister and her best friend, both of whom were women, and both of whom had a well-established history with Kara. It would have felt cheap if she had talked about it with say, James. Or even Nia. You know? For the conversation in question, there's only a select few she would go to, and I think the writers chose the right ones.
