🟧 AFTER YOM KIPPUR - Updates from Israel
THANKS - special thanks to our valiant soldiers who spent their Yom Kippur keeping us safe instead of with their families or in synagogue. Our prayers are in their merit.
⭕SUICIDE DRONES from HEZBOLLAH hit HERTZILYA on Yom Kippur night, hitting a NURSING HOME. 1 intercepted, 1 got through. 1 injury.
⭕HEAVY ROCKET BARRAGES across the north, hitting Haifa, Acco, Karmiel, Safed, Rosh Pina, and towns throughout the north over Yom Kippur. 3 people were slightly injured by a rocket falling in the Western Galilee and 12 were slightly injured on the way to a protected area.
⭕ROCKETS FROM GAZA on Yom Kippur, to southern Ashkelon. No casualties, and the IDF continues a policy of forced evac of source areas of fire.
▪️YOM KIPPUR - medics treated 286 fainted, dehydrated or felt ill due to the fast, and took 146 women in labor to the hospitals, one who gave birth in the ambulance.
▪️A HERO SOLDIER HAS FALLEN.. in battle in Gaza before Yom Kippur.. Ittai Fogel, 22, from Yakir. May his family be comforted among the mourners of Zion and Jerusalem, and may G-d avenge his blood!
❗️On Yom Kippur the IDF had 1 serious injury in battle in Gaza, no others casualties.
♦️IDF airstrikes on 280 targets throughout the holiday, in Lebanon and Gaza.
♦️IDF forces eliminated 50 terrorists in face-to-face encounters and directed air force strikes, and destroyed more than 200 Hezbollah terrorist targets from the air and with artillery.
♦️IDF created a small border buffer into SYRIA, in the Alonei Habashan - Kwdana area.
🔹The Christian sectors in Lebanon are in talks to form a political alliance against the Hezbollah.
🔹Yemeni defense minister says an operation against the Houthi Rebels is "imminent”.
🔹Jordan’s Foreign Minister Ayman Safadi calls for Chapter VII of the UN Charter to be invoked to “force Israel to comply with international law and immediately end all its illegal wars” in Gaza, the occupied West Bank and Lebanon. This framework allows the UN Security Council to impose sanctions or in extreme cases even military force to guard against threats to peace.
▪️Nicaragua announced the severance of relations with Israel "due to the attacks on the Palestinian lands".
▪️Speaker of the Iranian parliament arrived in Beirut and toured the area, leaving later in the day to Turkey. This is the 2nd Iranian commercial-diplomatic flight to break the Israeli air ban.
Part 2
⚠️ CHANGES IN DEFENSIVE GUIDELINES, MILITARY ZONES DECLARED IN NORTHERN ISRAEL
⚠️ Following a situational assessment, starting today at 20:00, changes will be made to the Home Front Command’s defensive guidelines. In southern and northern Golan, except for certain communities in the Emek HaYarden Regional Council, the activity scale will move from Limited Activity to Partial Activity, allowing educational activities subject to Northern Command's guidelines. In Daliyat al-Karmel and Isfiya in the Carmel area, the activity scale will shift from Partial Activity to Full Activity, with restrictions on gatherings of over 2,000 people. The rest of the country's guidelines remain unchanged. It is crucial to follow official Home Front Command channels and check updates on the National Emergency Portal and Home Front Command app.
🟥 As of 20:00 today, Zar'it, Shomera, Shtula, Netu'a, and Even Menachem in northern Israel will be declared a closed military zone. Entry to this area will be prohibited for security reasons.
🔷 For the first time in the Middle East war, the US intends to deploy its THAAD (Terminal High Altitude Area Defense) anti-ballistic air defense system in Israel to prepare for a potential Iranian attack. This system is designed to intercept and destroy ballistic missiles, providing a high level of protection.
◾The US has also announced new sanctions on Iran's oil sector in response to Tehran’s missile attack on Israel.

Omg can you pls do like a fic or headcanons of going to see Barbie with Jobe??💗
*.·:·.✦ barbie world ✦.·:·.*
pairing: jobe bellingham x female reader
summary: in which you and Jobe go watch Barbie, but does he have to know?
author’s note: requested by ihe4rtisa, thank you, sweetie <3 (the pic is by @mondlevan)
word count: 522
“Trampoline park ?” You suggested another activity, and Jobe shook his head.
You guys were currently looking for something to do for the day but neither one of you could agree on one. Resulting in the two of you on the phone, thinking of something to do.
“Let’s just go to the movies” You finally decided, exiting the phone call app to choose a movie to see.
“What is there to see ?” He instantly asked.
The moment you opened the app, you came across Barbie, whom you wanted to see so badly.
But you knew Jobe would never agree. He stated that "it was for girls" and didn't want to see it.
You started to think of a plan before fulfilling it.
“The new Ninja Turtles cartoon movie, you want to go ?”
“Yeah, we can”
“I’ll pick you up” You finished before hanging up.
Dummy, the movie is not out until a week, You thought before going to get ready.
You decided to wear a pink sweater, blue baggy jeans, and some simple white Jordan 1s. You matched your makeup with pink eye makeup and your usual lip combo.
Once you were ready, you grabbed your phone, wallet and car keys before leaving to go get Jobe. You messaged him indicating that you were on the way and asking if he was ready. Which he was, not surprising.
꘎♡━━━━━━━━━━━━━━♡꘎
Jobe exited the house wearing a black tracksuit and white Air Force 1s. By the look of his corners, you could tell he had gotten a cut within the last 24 hours.
He entered the car giving you a kiss on the temple making you side-eye him.
“So my lips were too far away ?” You sarcastically commented making him laugh.
“A bit, yeah” He teased before leaning in and giving you a real kiss.
Your face turned into a giant smile focusing back on the steering wheel to drive to the cinema. You thought your outfit would have given it away but knowing Jobe, he never caught clues.
Once you arrived, you two got straight in the queue since you had bought the tickets online making it easier for your plan to work.
“Room 7” The employee said after checking the tickets. For some reason, he had not said the name of the film, making you relieved.
“You want some popcorn ?” Jobe offered, guiding you to the area.
You instantly took the biggest one, Barbie decorated, Jobe grimacing.
“You don’t want to go see Barbie with me, let me at least live a bit of my Barbie dream” You retorted not even letting him say anything. Jobe put his hand up in surrender before you both walked to the film. You entered the room seeing half of the other people wearing pink. Jobe found it weird but moved on, still not catching a clue.
꘎♡━━━━━━━━━━━━━━♡꘎
The commercials had already ended and the film just started.
“(Y/N)” Jobe whispered in your ear not wanting to disturb the others “Why does this Barbie commercial is that long ?”
You looked innocently in front of you with a slight smirk. “What commercial?”
Jobe made a face not entirely getting what you said before understanding and huffing.
“You got to be lying”
like, repost and suggest if you want to (hope you enjoyed it)
masterlist for more

The closest international airport that doesn’t require Raneem to make the dangerous and expensive journey from the Houthi-controlled areas where she lives to those under the authority of the Presidential Leadership Council (PLC) is in the city of Sana’a. A Saudi-led military coalition, which includes the United States, bombed that airport multiple times during the war, and closed it to commercial flights. In April 2022, Saudi Arabia entered into a truce with the Houthis and, working with the United Arab Emirates, another country on the Saudi side of the war, established the PLC. This eight-member council came to power without an election, replacing President Abd-Rabbu Mansour Hadi. The United States now considers this the “internationally recognized government” of Yemen. The truce was supposed to reopen Sana’a airport to commercial air travel, a development that has been touted by the Biden administration as proof of progress in a humanitarian crisis for which the US bears considerable responsibility. But there are so few flights that the truce hasn’t changed anything for Raneem’s family. The PLC permits only three round-trip flights a week from Sana’a airport (down from six in June). They are all operated by a single airline, Yemenia Airways, which charges around $720 for a round-trip ticket to Jordan. (Yemenia is partially owned by the Saudi government.) [...] Of Yemen’s 30 million people, an estimated 80 percent “require some form of humanitarian or protection assistance,” according to the United Nations. [...] The PLC obtains its legitimacy and firepower from the Saudi-led military coalition that bombed Yemen for eight years, and imposed an aerial and naval blockade on the country. The Biden administration says that this blockade does not exist. “For one year, Yemenis have benefitted from a halt to airstrikes, regular civilian flights from Sana’a airport, enhanced and unrestricted humanitarian and food assistance, and the increased flow of fuel to northern Yemen,” said Vedant Patel, principal deputy spokesperson for the State Department, in an April 2023 statement marking the first anniversary of the truce. And while some incremental improvements have been made, particularly with respect to fuel and food imports, they fall far short of meeting the needs of a country devastated by a war in which the Saudi-led coalition repeatedly targeted civilian infrastructure like mosques, schools, hospitals, and markets. Today, Yemen is the site of one of the world’s worst humanitarian crises: 21.6 million people need humanitarian assistance; 17 million are food insecure; and 2.2 million children under 5 need treatment for acute malnutrition, according to the World Food Programme.[...] According to the Health Ministry of Sana’a (where the Houthis are the dominant power), some 71,000 cancer patients and 8,000 kidney-failure patients need care outside of Yemen. In August 2019, the Norwegian Refugee Council, a humanitarian organization, reported that in the three years since Sana’a airport was closed to commercial flights (starting August 9, 2016), “as many as 32,000 people may have died prematurely because they were unable to travel abroad for treatment, according to the Ministry of Health in Sana’a.” The extremely limited United Nations mercy flights permitted to leave Sana’a airport in 2020 barely began to meet these needs. [...] There are other airports in Yemen that have international flights, but these are in areas that are under the control of the PLC. The biggest such airport is in Aden, but distances are far and expensive to traverse, and the travel comes with risk and hardship. For those who live in Houthi-controlled areas, which account for roughly two-thirds of Yemen’s population, traveling to airports in PLC territory may not be an option.[...]
Throughout the war, the Saudi-led coalition repeatedly bombed hospitals. (The United States provided arms, intelligence, training, maintenance, and political support for the coalition. While the Biden administration said it suspended support for “offensive” operations in 2021, the United States continued to send arms.) In November 2015, the International Committee of the Red Cross said that it was aware of “close to a hundred” incidents where the Saudi-led coalition attacked health-care facilities over an eight month period. In January 2016, an MSF-supported hospital in Razeh, in northern Yemen, was hit with a coalition projectile, killing six people. Another bombing of an MSF-operated hospital in Hajja province in August 2016 killed at least 11 people.[…]
“The health system in Yemen has completely collapsed,” he said. “Very few public hospitals are operational.”[…] Key materials used to treat cancer are either unavailable or in extremely limited supply. For example, Dr. Alhadi said radioactive iodine, commonly used to treat thyroid cancer, “is not widely available in Yemen due to the ongoing conflict and blockade.”[...]
The Health Ministry of Sana’a told us that radioactive iodine has been banned from import into Houthi-controlled areas.When we reached out to the State Department to confirm this ban and to request a full list of items that are prohibited from import, a spokesperson referred us to the United Nations Verification and Inspection Mechanism (UNVIM) for Yemen.
UNVIM, which did not respond to a request for comment, is the UN inspection body tasked with facilitating the transport of non-humanitarian goods into Houthi-controlled parts of Yemen, by verifying that these goods do not violate United Nations Security Council Resolution 2216. That resolution, which was drafted by Saudi Arabia, places an arms embargo on the Houthis. Once UNVIM grants clearance, the “internationally recognized government of Yemen,” now the PLC, gets the final say over which goods can enter ports in Houthi-controlled areas.
Saudi Arabia and the United Arab Emirates have exerted considerable influence over the “internationally recognized government of Yemen” since this resolution was implemented at the start of the war. The resolution has been a key means these countries have used to impose the blockade, alongside the bombing of airports and ports, and the placement of Saudi warships in Yemeni waters.
Shireen Al-Adeimi is an academic and nonresident fellow at the Quincy Institute who has campaigned to end US support for the Saudi-led war and blockade. She said that, given the role of Saudi Arabia and the United Arab Emirates in influencing the PLC, and given past coalition action to block humanitarian aid, this amounts to foreign control over what goes into and out of Yemen’s ports in these areas. “A blockade is an act of war,” she said.[...]
The war has been defined by a lack of accountability and transparency, including from the United States, a fact acknowledged by the US government’s own internal watchdog. A June 2022 report from the US Government Accountability Office (GAO) found that the departments of Defense and State “have not fully determined the extent to which US military support has contributed to civilian harm in Yemen.”[...]
There have been some reports that the United States may be “slow-walking” peace negotiations by introducing conditions for a deal. The Biden administration, meanwhile, has signaled that it remains a partner of Saudi Arabia and the United Arab Emirates, and in August 2022 approved $5 billion in total arms sales to both countries. This comes on top of at least $54.6 billion in military support to these countries from 2015 to 2021, according to the GAO.[...]
With a presidential campaign ramping up, Biden has an incentive to emphasize relief and openness in Yemen; the US role in the humanitarian crisis—including rolling out the red carpet for Saudi Crown Prince Mohammed bin Salman last year, and ongoing weapons sales—goes against the president’s claims to embrace human rights as a foreign policy principle.

"space case": the pre-2005 martin jordan
these days the quintessential hal jordan is easily defined by two traits: a distinct lack of fear, and a penchant for wearing his father's air force jacket. hal's father is his hero, you all know that. or, that's what you've been led to believe by the post-2005 geoff johns era of green lantern that has completely overshadowed everything that had come before and worked hard to erase the slightest hint of friction between hal & his father.
first things first, the post-2005 continuity can be looked at as half a fanboy's wish and half editorial mandate -- the biggest inspiration for hal's hero worship of martin (+ the whole deal with his jacket) and his overall attitude comes from darwyn cooke's elseworlds dc: the new frontier 2004, its unparalleled commercial success was undoubtedly a leading factor in the changes that followed and cooke had once spoken about being asked to work on green lantern secret files and origins 2005 (the one-shot that would jumpstart the 2005 ongoing series after the rebirth miniseries) for precisely that reason.
(graphic ink: the art of darwyn cooke)
secondly, for thirty (count 'em!) years of hal jordan's existence there had been no mention of his parents whatsoever. he had brothers, cousins, uncles come in and out of his life throughout green lantern 1960 but never parents. that all changed in 1989 with green lantern: emerald dawn #1, the first real attempt to give hal an origin (see below).
lastly and most importantly, martin had undoubtedly been an abusive father to hal and remained one of his few deep deep actual fears.
i'll be your guide through these pre-2005 appearances and mentions of martin and his relationship with hal, presented in chronological order based on real life release dates rather than internal chronology.
("you just can't make me proud of you, can you, son?" emerald dawn 1989 #2)
("well, he's still like he always was. i guess i'll always be a failure in his eyes, that's all. nothing i can do is going to change that", green lantern 1990 #48, published 1994)
("my fault! all my fault. father always said i'd be a failure!", superman: the man of steel (1991) annual #4, published 1995)
("the problem with you, hal, is you always got your head in the clouds", unpublished 'emerald interlude' originally slated for legends of the dc universe 1998 #33)
("screwed up again, didn't you, space-case?! just once i'd like you to get something right!", legends of the dc universe 1998 #35, published 2000)
("you become what you know. and what you didn't know you knew. like what you learn at the end of someone's arm. you learn to go blank. like maybe things with him would change if you could just give him what he wants. if you could just take it like a man", dc comics presents: green lantern 2004 #1)
interestingly enough, each of these stories is the work of different writers and between legends of the dc universe and dc comics presents: green lantern the narrative woven throughout becomes explicit -- hal perceives martin's abuse as abuse of power first and foremost, and doesn't just fear becoming 'what he knows' but also fears that he already did by abusing the power of the green lantern as parallax. all in all, it's an incredibly complex narrative seldom afforded to superheroes nowadays and an entirely vital part of hal's characterisation that we've been robbed of for far too long now.

Yves here. You are getting a Sunday extra on the conflict in Gaza and where it looks set to be headed, given Hamas’ apparent strategy, the dug in position of the US and Israel, and the so far on-track behavior of the Arab world.
John Helmer’s post clinically and persuasively draws conclusions that most commentators, including yours truly, have been loath to state clearly, perhaps because depicting the likelihood of bad outcomes somehow feels as if it increases the odds they come to pass (magical thinking cults and their lesser “intention” cousins illustrate this superstitious tendency).
Even though the earlier part of Helmer’s analysis is based on known facts (at least if you’ve been paying attention), he adds critical information about the implications of even a shortish war with Israel’s neighbors on Israel, and the apparently-not-heretofore-reported sighting that China has naval vessels in the Persian Gulf that have anti-sub and anti-missile capabilities.
It’s not hard to conclude from Helmer’s depiction that with the US and Israel unwilling to accept a loss and the lack of any adults on “our team” mean the odds of eventual nuclear war are way too high. And if you think Helmer is too pessimistic, listen to the section from Larry Johnson in the broadcast on Judge Napolitano with Ray McGovern. Starting at 11:40, Johnson describes how Pakistan has offered to send some of its nukes to Türkiye in case of a dustup with Israel.
By John Helmer, the longest continuously serving foreign correspondent in Russia, and the only western journalist to direct his own bureau independent of single national or commercial ties. Helmer has also been a professor of political science, and an advisor to government heads in Greece, the United States, and Asia. He is the first and only member of a US presidential administration (Jimmy Carter) to establish himself in Russia. Originally published at Dances with Bears
Preamble1. Since 1943 the US and its European allies, including Germany (Olaf Scholz’s government, not Adolf Hitler’s), have aimed to liquidate the secular nationalist Arab leadership capable of co-existence with the West and a state for the Jewish people.
2. In Palestine Hamas has studied seventy-five years of lessons on the impossibility of coordinating Arab state war in the defence of the Palestine part of the two-state solution.
3. For more than a year, therefore, Hamas has prepared in well-kept secret an offensive against Israel to achieve five objectives – the first to demonstrate how inferior the Israeli military is, how vulnerable, how incompetent their intelligence on the Arab world. This has been achieved by the initial attack of October 7.
4. The second Hamas objective has been to demonstrate the Israeli plan of ethnic cleansing of Gaza, genocide against the Arabs, and incorporation of all Israeli-occupied territories in a single theocratic Zionist state — Quod erat demonstrandum. The third objective is to hold out against the expected Israeli counterattack for long enough to activate the Hezbollah forces on the northern Lebanon front; Syrian and Iranian forces on the eastern Golan front; and the West Bank Palestinians, including the Jordanian Palestinians; the latter’s targets will be US air and armoured land force bases in Jordan. So far, so good.
5. The final Hamas objectives are to compel the vacillating sheikhdoms to resist US pressure; limit oil and gas supplies to the enemy markets; prevent regional land base and air transit rights being activated in support of Israel — so far, so good. And lastly, the fifth objective, to engage the friendly nuclear powers – Russia, China – to deter, and if necessary combat US forces in the region and Israel’s threat to fire its nuclear weapons.
The rules of war 6. These aren’t in the code of secular international humanitarian law referred to in the western media and by UN officials in support of Israel. Those rules were eliminated by the destruction of two generations of Arab leaders willing to abide by them. The war doctrine of Hamas does not concede that international law may dictate to or supersede Islamic law. In parallel, the war doctrine of Israel is that Jewish and Israeli law supersedes every other.
This report is the most comprehensive record in English to date of the official Israel statements of genocide against the Gaza Palestinians in intention, policy and practice. Source: https://ccrjustice.org/ In 1948, the United Nations Convention on the Prevention and Punishment of the Crime of Genocide expressly included in Article II “the intent to destroy, in whole or in part, a national, ethnical, racial or religious group”. Forty years later, in 1988, the US Congress added two qualifiers to the provision in the US criminal code which defines genocide as a crime to be prosecuted if Americans commit it. This new US law declared genocide is “the specific intent to destroy, in whole or in substantial part, a national, ethnic, racial, or religious group”. “Substantial part,” the statute now said, meant “a part of a group of such numerical significance that the destruction or loss of that part would cause the destruction of the group as a viable entity within the nation of which such group is a part.” So long as the genocidal Arab killer isn’t “specific” in intention and the part of the people attacked isn’t “substantial”, the killer is off the hook in the US criminal code. This was a calculated US change to the crime of genocide. The US senator who drafted it and promoted it into law was Joseph Biden. For more, read The Jackals’ Wedding – page 14-18.
7. The Hamas offensive of October 7, OPERATION AL AQSA FLOOD ( عملية طوفان الأقصى, amaliyyat ṭūfān al-ʾAqṣā), is, as its code name indicates and in the interpretation of Islamic law, lawful self-defence, and the killing of Israelis, including civilians, lawful according to the retribution doctrine of Qisas. It’s clear there is a Koranic injunction against killing non-combatants, particularly children, the infirm, the old, and women. When women are combatants, as they are in the kibbutzim, they lose their exemption; also children, if they are armed and trained. So, the evidence question is — how many children under the age of arms-bearing were killed at the border settlements on October 7? And how did they die – by Hamas directly, or in crossfire between Hamas and IDF? The Israelis say one thing; Hamas says nothing.
8. It is clear the Israeli rules of war allow indiscriminate killing of children in offensive and defensive operations, in retribution and in collective punishment. No Palestinian Arab or Iranian is in any doubt that this has been Israeli policy from the beginning; that it has always been US policy to support it; and that the destruction of Gaza is the current episode of the long laid plan.
The two-state solution 9. Zionist ideology and Israel’s constitution have ruled out the two-state solution.
Source: https://perma.cc/9PZN-DJGY
10. The Arab state supporters of the two-state solution (including Fatah and the Palestine National Authority) cannot support it when Gaza is being liquidated by the Israel Defense Forces (IDF), supplied by the Pentagon.
11. President Joseph Biden’s (lead image) recent public remarks endorse Israel’s one-state solution, adding his personal religious benediction — “may God protect our troops”. Until he said that, Biden had limited himself to invoking God’s protection of “our troops” in speeches on the Afghanistan War in April 2021 and on the war against Russia in the Ukraine in February 2023. Before Biden, it was President George Bush Jr. who claimed God on the US side when he meant self-defence – “we will defend our freedom. We will bring freedom to others and we will prevail. May God bless our country and all who defend her.” With Biden the Christian, and Secretary of State Antony Blinken declaring himself Jewish in Israel, the war of Israel against Gaza is a theocratic one, a crusade. This is how it is understood now throughout the Muslim world.
12. According to God, therefore, there is only a one-state solution – it is either Palestine or Israel.
The current battlefield situation 13. On the Gaza front, Hamas has fought the IDF to a standstill outside the Gaza border wall. The Israel Air Force has dropped about 4,000 tonnes of bombs per week, 8,000 tonnes to October 21; that is more than the US Air Force dropped on Afghanistan in the peak year of 2019. More than 3,500 Palestinians have been killed so far, including at least 1,030 children and hundreds of family units; more than 12,500 people have been injured, one million Palestinians displaced, and thousands of homes destroyed. About 1,200 are missing believed to be trapped under the rubble. The Israeli and US government record, reported by the Institute for the Study of War (ISW) in Washington, documents the continuing firing from Gaza into Israeli territory in what the ISW calls its “Iran updates”. A prolonged IDF siege threatens to kill several hundred thousand Palestinians by starvation, dehydration, disease, and a combination of artillery and aerial bombardment, while leaving the Hamas forces relatively unscathed and waiting to inflict a higher rate of casualties on the IDF than it has ever experienced.
14. On the northern front across the Lebanon border, there have been exchanges of missile, drone, anti-tank rocket, artillery, and mortar fire between the IDF and Hezbollah. There have been casualties on both sides. Border settlements on the Israeli side have been evacuated to the south. For a summary of the ISW reports favouring Israel, read this; For maps and summaries of military action as of October 20 on the Gaza and northern fronts, as well as the Golan and West Bank, click to open.
Incident map on the northern front between October 12 and 17; source: https://www.washingtonpost.com/
15. US forces on the Jordan front. The Israeli press has been reporting some details of USAF reinforcements at the Muwaffaq Salti Air Base in the northeastern corner of Jordan and possible Marine deployments in Jordan. Whether the Marines will be moved to defend the Al-Tanf base on the Syrian side of the border, 230 kilometres northeast of Muwaffaq Salti, isn’t known.
Top, right – the US airbase at Muwaffaq Salti; source: https://twitter.com/ According to an Israeli report, “a squadron of U.S. F-15E Strike Eagle bombers based in Britain was deployed over the weekend at the Muwaffaq Salti Air Base east of the Jordanian capital of Amman. Another squadron of A-10 attack aircraft has also been deployed there.” Bottom, the location of Al-Tanf in Syria across the Jordanian and Iraqi borders.
16. Russian and Chinese navy deployments. The Russian fleet based at Tartous, Syria, is at sea, as reported here. At the moment, there are as many, possibly more Chinese vessels of the 44th Naval Escort Task Force in the Persian Gulf. The anti-surface, anti-submarine, and anti-air missile capabilities of the Type-052D destroyer can be followed here, and of the Type-054A frigate here. For the time being, the significance of this Chinese screen to deter a US-Israeli missile and aircraft attack on Iran has been missed in the western press and by Russian military reporters.
Top: https://russianfleetanalysis.blogspot.com/ Bottom: the Chinese Defense Ministry announcement of the arrival of the destroyer Zibo and frigate Jingzhou at Kuwait on October 19.
Armageddon strategy 17. US Afghanistan War veteran: “Suppose Israel and the US understand they are facing an existential survival future in which they must combat swarm attacks on three or four fronts — Gaza/Hamas, North/Hezbollah, Golan/Syria/Iran, and West Bank/Jordan, and they calculate the Arabs have at least a 30 to 60–day arms supply in stock, do they calculate they can withstand a multi-front offensive for enough time, resupplied by air from the US? If they calculate that they can withstand a 30-day multi-directional swarm, they must understand that, at a minimum, Israel’s infrastructure and economy will be ruined. In a scenario like that, even if they ‘win’, they lose. In terms of airlifting and shipping supplies, we’ve already seen that the Arabs can hit Israeli military and civilian airfields, airports and seaports. Defending Israeli infrastructure with their air defence capability is the main mission of the strike groups the US is deploying in the eastern Mediterranean and in the Red Sea.
According to the Pentagon on October 19, the USS Carney, a part of the USS Gerald Ford group, had transited into the Red Sea through the Suez Canal the day before and was in the northern Red Sea when it intercepted three land attack cruise missiles and several drones.
Western societies like Israel cannot function without solid, reliable, electrical power and communications services. We can be certain that power generation, transmission and distribution will be targeted by the Arabs non-stop. The cell towers and central communications centres will be too.”
18. Moscow source. “When does the threat to Israel become so dire, they go nuclear, and when they do, against what targets will they fire – Hamas, Beirut, Damascus, Teheran?* The US won’t accept a Palestinian state so the only option left for the Palestinians, Arabs, Iranians, possibly Turks is to fight with this new kind of warfare whose objective is to cut into the flesh and bones of the Israeli adversary, and make life in that state unviable. Without a Palestinian homeland, all of Israel and the Arab territories become a battlefield. The IDF options then shrink to two – carpet bombing and mass killing of the civilian population centres on all fronts at once. If that isn’t sustainable or effective for the Israeli-American purpose, then option 2 is to attack Lebanon, Syria and Iran to stop the flow of reinforcements. But that’s regional war, and it can only be conducted by the Israelis with full US military participation. This becomes nuclear very quickly because President Putin has already placed the Kinzhal missiles in range of the US carrier fleet in the eastern Mediterranean, and the Chinese have installed their screen to protect Iran. It’s obvious that the race hatred policies of Biden and Netanyahu, and their belief that God has chosen them both as destroyers for their people, lead to the final, nuclear weapons solution. The Russians and Chinese can maximise their limited military projection by deterring, or if need be pre-empting a nuclear attack on the Arab cities or Teheran. For this to work, the Russians and the Chinese need to say more – loudly so there’s no mistaking what they mean.”
[*] In 1983, in conversation with his General Staff, Iraq’s President Saddam Hussein said: “the Iraqis would be able to withstand three years of fighting in a war. However, the Israelis cannot withstand one year of fighting in a war.” In April 1990 Hussein was hosting Yasser Arafat of the PLO in Baghdad. “[Israel] has 240 nuclear warheads, 12 out of them for each Arab capital,” Arafat said. Saddam replied: “I say this and I am very calm and wearing a civilian suit [everyone laughs]. But I say this so that we can get ready at this level.” Quoted in The Jackals’ Wedding, page 16.

496. A Brief History of Commercials Being Pulled Off the Air
(commercial)
I love the people in the audience getting pissed awf that the Volvo isn't getting squished!
(commercial) This Dial commercial didn't get pulled -- it was just a lady with nothing better else to do who wrote to her local newspaper about it. I watched the commercial, and unless Dial edited the copy I'm looking at, I don't see her going all the way under the water. I just see a sad girl taking a bath. Her dog comes for a visit. She feels better.
(commercial)
Again, what is wrong with this commercial?! That dress is cute! I seem to remember the Camera being marketed to women, but women can be fashionable too. Memo to AdWeek, how does Cindy Crawford look like Wilma Flintstone?
(commercial)
I guess I could see people getting mad at this one if they didn't know who Sam Behr was parodying. Don't forget to torque your nuts by hand.
(commercial)
(commercial)
Another choice that I don't understand. I don't see anything sexually suggestive in this commercial. What is so suggestive about couples walking and a dude playing with BUBBLES.
In closing, two examples of sad, but understandable reasons why commercials were pulled. In the Summer of 1993, Michael Jordan's father was murdered. Jordan's commercials were pulled out of respect.
After Princess Diana was killed in a car accident in the late Summer of 1997, Weight Watchers commercials with her ex sister in law Sarah Ferguson were pulled. There was also a Wendy's commercial with a Queen Elizabeth impersonator that was pulled. (I could not find that commercial)
More Commercials I wanted to find, but couldn't:
This is probably one of those lost media items that we'll never see. Speaking of lost media, why do most lost media fans only focus on cartoons? So weird, kinda annoying. Find this instead of some 2 second commercial for a short lived Saturday morning cartoon.
I want to know what heinous crime the criminal in the commercial was sent to death for. Does anybody remember those Philadelphia Cream Cheese commercials with the angels? I always wonder what they died from. I KNOW they're just actors, but my intrusive thoughts go there!
I found every iteration of this Twix commercial -- except for this one! I attended a women's college my junior and senior year. It was nice to not be made fun of every single day.
At first when I saw what year this was published, I thought people didn't like this commercial because it reminded them too much of the O.J. Simpson trial.

Draft
So I have this half-baked idea in my head and I have a lot of life happening and very little brain power because winter darkness, so I'm putting it here instead of leaving it in a draft somewhere for three more years.
Basically I have this idea of Marie and Jordan flying together, like commercially and like blending with the public (keeping the supe thing secret) and Marie obviously finds flying a bit stressful because it's a small metal contained full of lots of beating hearts and pulses while Jordan doesn't enjoy being undercover because they can't randomly shift lest they want a security panic from fellow travelers and air staff.
So that's the setting right?
But then what happens is a lady, in like her late 50s/early 60s, is about to start having a heart attack. Like Marie picks up on it, the clogged artery near/in/surrounding her heart. And is like, "Babe come with me for a second", and then they're trying to figure out how to help the lady without anyone like finding out that they're supes.
So Jordan would be all like "ugh once we finally decide we deserve a vacation" because maybe it's a romantic getaway (or a honeymoon...), "but babe we also can't just tell this random lady you're a blood wielding supe"
And Marie will like nod while thinking hard, "Right, we'll say I'm a cardiovascular specialist"
"no"
"Homeopathic healer?"
"Babe no"
"Witch?" (which will make Jordan giggle)
They end up deciding that the woman isn't aware of her medical emergency yet, she's only just started having symptoms, so Marie will simply solve it without anyone noticing.
So she'd just sit down back in her seat, pop some noice cancelling headphones on her head and then sit there and literally move the little blod clot from this woman's heart out through her nose without it being noticeable.
And as Jordan hands the woman a napkin, they'll say "Careful, nosebleeds on a flight are a sign of high blood pressure, you should really check that out."
or something like that...
I'm really not comfortable enough writing for them yet, I feel like I don't have a proper grasp on them to confidently write their dynamic yet.

Picture This
This beautiful commission is from the lovely @/artbyainna on Instagram. Once again, she is just magnificent.
Book: Open Heart (Post Series)
Pairing: Ethan Ramsey x F!MC (Kaycee)
Rating: Teen +
Warning: A little frisky at the end, but nothing crazy at all.
Category: Fluff
Summary: Ethan and Kaycee are off to take engagement photos, but Ethan's reluctance is putting a damper on the mood.
Words: 976
A/N: Ethan & Kaycee became engaged in This Christmas. It was an impromptu proposal, and Ethan gave her a temporary ring (that Kaycee will always cherish more than any ring to follow). I don't see either of them as wrapped up in traditional/commercial ideas of romance. The love they share together is what matters most to them. So, while he's anxious to take her ring shopping, their busy schedules have made it difficult, and it just hasn't been a priority. There was one aborted attempt when pushy salespeople had Kaycee close to saying, "No ring!" That brings us to this fic where a well-intentioned gift from their best man stirs a little something... I hope you enjoy it!
“This is preposterous.”
Kaycee glanced impishly across the table at her finance. Eventually, biting her lip to keep her giggles at bay. Perhaps it wasn’t polite or even kind, but watching Ethan Ramsey get so incredibly flustered was now one of her favorite pastimes. Particularly when it was over nothing at all.
“Ethan,” she said, gently stroking his arm. “You’re making entirely too much of this. What’s so horrible about walking around Boston and taking some pictures together? Unless you’re embarrassed to be seen with me?”
His head flung in her direction, unable to believe what he had heard.
“Embar… Embarrassed? To be seen with you? Please tell me you’re joking, Kaycee.”
And that was it… she could have bitten her lip until it bled, but it wouldn’t have been able to hold her back now. He wanted to be angry at her, at least annoyed, but with eyes shut tight, face turned cherry-red, and clenching her from giggling so hard… he would be miffed if she wasn’t so damn adorable. When she finally came up for air, she wasn’t greeted with a scowl but a delightful smirk, and Ethan could only think of two words: she wins.
“Ethan,” Kaycee gasped for air. “You’re just too easy, dear. Why are you getting so upset over taking some pictures.”
“Because there is no need to do them today.”
“Yes, there is. Because Tobias’s brother is in town today, and your best man to be offered his services to us. It’s not every day we have a world-renowned photographer at our service… for free!”
“So we’re clear, I have plenty of money. If you want me to hire a photographer on another day, I can.”
“I’m aware of the size of your impressive… net worth,” she coughed. “But really, this is getting out of hand. Why are you making so much of this? Do you not like Jordan?”
“I like Jordan just fine. If we’re being honest, he’s the least annoying of the Carrick brothers.”
“Then why are you being such a grump!”
Ethan took Kaycee’s hand and pulled her onto his lap, releasing a deep sigh of surrender.
“I know I’m acting like a child….”
“Nooooooo!” Kaycee interrupted.
“Can I finish?”
After a quick peck on the cheek, Kaycee nodded. “Of course, my love.”
“I just don’t feel like we should be taking engagement photos today.”
“Why?” Kaycee gasped in mock horror. “Please tell me you’re not having second thoughts.”
“No…NO! You know I’m not.”
“Yeah, who else would put up with you,” she grinned. “But seriously, we’re engaged… why shouldn’t we take engagement photos?”
“Because…. Because I haven’t gotten your ring yet.”
Kaycee pulled Ethan’s signet ring, which she wore on a chain around her neck, from underneath her sweater.
“Uh… this little guy here begs to differ. It’s a ring, is it not?”
“It’s a temporary ring until we get your real one. And since we haven’t been able to go shopping yet… wouldn’t you like to have a big diamond on your hand in these photos?”
“Oh, Ethan,” she said with sincerity. “I’m going to let you in on a little secret. Some people get married and never even get an engagement ring? It’s not really necessary.”
“Well, not my fiance!”
“I’d marry you without a ring… that’s not important to me. I don’t need a big rock on my finger for these pictures to be perfect. All I need is this big hunk on my arm.”
Ethan’s face softened, and he began to caress her cheek.
“I am sort of a hunk, aren’t I?” he teased.
“The HOTTEST hunk in all of Boston!”
“Only Boston?”
“New England!” She countered, only to receive a raised brow. “The East Coast!”
“I was aiming for the world, but I’ll take it.”
“Hey,” she laughed, pulling her face closer to hers. “You’re the only hunk in the world for me. And can’t wait to see how beautiful these pictures will be. I assure you, no one will need a ring to see how in love we are.”
“So, I should call Jordan and tell him to disregard the message I left canceling today?”
Kaycee hit Ethan’s shoulder a little harder than she intended. “Ethan Ramsey! You did not!”
“No, I didn’t,” he laughed. “And you say I’m too easy?”
Kaycee clutched the front of his sweater with two fists and straddled her legs over his hips.
“Oh, you are pushing it today, buster. Don’t make me rethink saying yes to you.”
Ethan’s hands found her hips, holding them firmly in place as he playfully rubbed up against her. She tried to keep her cool as an electric charge shot through her, but Ethan could tell she was already withering.
“Sure about that MacClennan?”
“Ah, you know you’ve got me. I’m pathetic. A simp, really. I’m all yours, and you know it.”
“And you’re the woman who has me parading around Boston like a schoolboy today….”
“School boys don’t have engagement shoots….”
“May I finish?”
“Of course…”
“You’re the one who gets me to do things I never would have imagined, and I’m overjoyed when I do them. Even if I huff like a petulant child before giving in. Do you know that?”
“I do,” she beamed as he reached up and kissed her lips.
“I do,” he whispered. “I love the sound of that.”
~~~~~
I HC that after this, they met Jordan and had a wonderful day. Ethan enjoyed it as much, if not more than Kaycee, but he’d only admit that to her. When the photos arrived, Dr. Ramsey was most moved by them, and this one sat on his desk for the rest of his days. Every so often, Kaycee would come in and admire it.
“A beautiful shot,” he’d smile. “It is,” she’d reply with a wink. “If only I had my ring.
i havent been reading it so i gotta ask, what's wrong with the current hal ongoing?
well it's only 2 issues in but i really don't like hal's characterization so far! panels and shit below the cut for spoiler purposes 👍
hal in this series is creepy as Fuck. i feel like he was written to be charming and suave but he really fucking comes off as a creepy aggressive "nice guy" stalker.
He just does not leave carol the fuck alone even after she's repeatedly said she's not single and she's not interested. Hal also like gets cocky and crashes a drone during a flight sim, losing him his newly gained job at ferris air. He Would Not Fucking Do That!!!!! hal is VERY good at being a test pilot, keeping planes in the air at all costs is literally his entire job he wouldn't take risks and crash like that. PLUS hal "airplane crash trauma" jordan would not fucking walk away from a plane crash, simulated or not, with only an "oops lol" to show for it.
anyways after he gets fired from ferris air he gets a job as a commercial pilot like the next day. and whats this! he's piloting carols private jet! He sees carol and her fiancee in the back and decides to bump the plane causing their drinks to spill.
Carol's fiancee goes in the back to change his shirt (bc its wet) and hal fucking LOCKS HIM IN THE CLOSET???? TO CHAT UP CAROL WHO DOESNT WANT HIM TO BE THERE???
^^ THIS PANEL????? THIS IS LITERALLY SOME HORROR MOVIE SHIT. hal is quite literally acting like a deranged stalker. this is not cute or suave this is scary.
he would not fucking do this!!!!! hal respects women!!!!!! #notmyhal!!!! carol would also not do this she would fucking kill him let her kill him. as a treat.
#asks <3#ty for the ask!!#comic talk#comic spoilers#green lantern spoilers#obv i have more to say but this is by far my biggest complaint so far
