There should be a word in English for that feeling you get at the end of a trip where you’re mildly looking forward to seeing your pets but dreading going back to work and absolutely HATING leaving a boyfriend you won’t see again for five weeks.

THE WAY DOWN UNDER
So, let’s get this journey started:
Thursday, 7th of February 2019: It’s time to say goodbye for a while. On that day, I got up at 07:00 AM. Didn’t got that much sleep, because the evening before leaving I had a family emergency, but never mind, it’s all under control now. And to be honest, I’m a little bit nervous. At first I had to say good bye to my Dad for a while. After that it was time to say good bye to my neighbour. My mother and I drove to the railway station, it would be the last time for a while for me driving on the right side of the street. At the railway station we drank one last coffee together and then it was time to say good bye for a while. To be honest, my eyes were a little bit wet🙈
As you might see, I don’t look very happy, because that photo has been taken shortly before saying good bye to my mum.
In the train, I spoke to a married couple. They were about to fly to Barcelona to meet their family there. They first guessed, that I’m about to go to Cuba, because I was reading a book about Cuba. When I told them that I’m about to go down under they were even more excited for me. My first flight was from Zurich to San Francisco. It will take me 12 hours to reach Murica, the longest distance I’ve been flying so far, but the other distance is even 55 minutes longer. As I expected I had the ¨SSSS¨ on my ticket. So I had to do a bigger security check than the most passengers. When you fly to the States from Zurich, they separate a part from the terminal and they ask you already a few questions about your stay there. After that I had the special treatment from the airport security. It wasn’t not that fatal. I expected that they will ask me to take off my clothes, but I hadn’t to do. I saw, that another young man had to do this extra security check. When I asked the security lady if they check every young man, she just answered, that it’s just a random sampling who’s gonna be more checked. I (of course) agreed with her but in my mind I was thinking ¨yes, seems like (a little bit in an ironic way)¨. In the airplane than the shock: The airplane is almost empty! So everybody nearly has a row for his own.
This picture was taken somewhere over Canada.
I flew with Swiss, so a last time tasting the delicious Swiss cheese and beer!;-)
After 12 hours of flying I arrived in America at about 04:00PM. It’s my first time (remembering) here in the States, so I was a little bit nervous. When it was my turn at the customs and border protection, I was kind of confused that it went so fast and easy. The most impressive thing about San Francisco international airpot was, that every kind of authority is wearing a gun pretty open. In Switzerland they nearly lock their gun next to them, but in the States everybody could take it from them and shoot around. Anyway, staying a bit at the airport was pretty good, so I was able to walk a little bit before my next flight.
This photo was taken from the terrace of the San Francisco international airport. On the right side you can see the tail of the airplane which brought me here.
I went way too early to the gate of my connection flight. About half an hour before the boarding should have started they made an announcement that a few passengers need to come to the desk in reasons of immigration. One name that they said was mine, so I went there and showed them my booking confirmation for my flight from Auckland to Adelaide. Every thing was fine and the lady was so kindly to print me a new boarding pass.
My new boarding pass together with my red passport.
This time, the flight was full as only possible. I was pretty tired, which was perfect for this overnight flight. I tried to keep up until we are in the air and they will start serving food and drinks. I was fighting pretty hard and had a few short moments asleep. One thing I noticed, was that we were pushed back, rolling a little bit and then stopped in the middle of the way. The captain made an announcement and told us, that they have some technical problems with the engine and that we need to go back to the gate. After that I thought this will gonna take longer, so I caught some sleep. I woke up when we were pushed back again, what was pretty perfect. When we were heating to San Francisco it wasn’t possible to see the Golden Gate bridge, so I hoped that I will see it this time. Think again. The airplane hit pretty soon after the takeoff the Pacific ocean, so sadly I didn’t saw this impressive building. After eating and drinking, it was time to catch some sleep, which I did then. After 5 hours I woke up and realised, that I only slept for about 5 hours, so I had 7 more hours to go. Never mind, the onboard entertainment system of Air New Zealand was pretty good, so I watched again some movies.
Sunrise over the Pacific ocean, unfortunately a little bit cloudy, so you can’t see the ocean.
Then the moment has come, touchdown in Auckland, New Zealand! Hopefully I will meet some good people here down under, I will tell you more in my upcoming blogs. Until then, all the best!

hey, is that ADELAIDE KANE? no, it’s just BAMBI LOUISE TRAVIS, the TWENTY-FOUR year old survivor from HILLDALE, UTAH. i’ve heard SHE has been alone for 4 MONTHS. people say SHE is CARING, but also NAIVE.
Hanne is back at it with Bio’s and intro’s that are too long to post anywhere. pls enjoy my lil angel.
Bambi was born into a VERY religious polygamist family in the city of Hildale, Utah. Her family compared to normal families was beyond normal, her father was a member of a religious cult that practiced polygamy, and had 5 wives all together, and before the outbreak happened, Bambi had 6 whole siblings and 19 half siblings, 25 all together, with Bambi the oldest, and her mother being her dads first wife.
Growing up, and way into her teens, Bambi and her siblings were pretty much totally isolated from the outside world. They were ‘home schooled’, never watched or seen a tv, or any movies, she and the other girls weren’t allowed speak to boys their age and were only allowed to read the religious books as well as a few selective ones that their father and church found appropriate and safe, and wouldn’t plant any weird ideas in the heads of their children about how the outside world really was like. As well as being isolated from the modern world, they lived in a rural area on a huge community farm which its boundaries were fenced off, and that housed many families. But with them being fenced in, no one ever came in, as well as how no one was really able to get out. But as Bambi started nearing 18, her parents wanted her to get married off to a much older man, so that she could be his 7th wife. But Bambi had had enough of how she´d been living, and had grown to disagree with her own faith. So at 18 she broke from it and ran away from all she knew, and made her way from Utah, to Colorado City, Arizona. Not soon after the outbreak would hit
When the outbreak happened, she had just gotten to Colorado City.. She knew no one, and knew nothing about how the real world worked. So when she encountered what would later be known as walkers. She barely survived, only to have someone find her and save her.. So with her first encounter with the undead, almost losing her life in the process. She would soon figure out that the big cities wasn’t a safe place to be. At first she found herself in Texas, where she found multiple communities of survivors, but after some months she decided to leave and her as well as some other survivors made their way south. Along the way they stayed with multiple other settlers and survivors, and the group changed members as time went on, as well as people just simply perishing.. bambi had a few more scares, but even with that she still had not learned completely how to protect herself.. she was and would continue to be utterly useless in the world outside of her old home..
Years passed until she came across a group of survivors as she along the road had ended up by herself. So she joined them, and despite how brutal things were, she weirdly found some comfort in it.. and she stayed with them until things happened.. everything from the time the camp fell is one big blur, and in the mess of it all she slipped away and has since stayed out in the wild by herself.. camping in houses and cabins, or wherever she allowed herself.. but she isn’t doing good for herself at all..
