Almost time to go home ... I'm feeling a tad worn out, but guess who popped into my brain, today?
After months of not being able to think about him or the AU, Mer!Heathcliff has returned to my thougts. His relationship with Ishmael is especially intriguing to me, since she starts out mistrusting him, and trusts him even less when he's revealed to be a Mer, but, at some point, she realizes he does really care about her and Sherry ... and imagining the journey she takes to reach that point never fails to inspire me to work on my Mermaid AU.

I need to get to bed, but I thought about Mermaid AU, today ... specifically started exploring the idea of Heathcliff returning to land with Sherry after everything with Davy Jones is resolved, and it made me think about how he'd struggle to conceal his Mer instincts ...
#also‚ hypothetically‚ would Radley inherit Mer traits from his father ...?#I wonder about it a lot ...#anyway the idea of Heathcliff needing to assume his Mer form from time to time is amusing because Sherry probably just runs the bath--#--and lets him splash around in there for an hour or three#sometimes she takes him to pools ... and on rare occasions where they can get away she'll accompany him to the ocean#I think Mer can't stay in their human forms for too long or they'll suffer negative side effects ...#when I waa doing research I read that if Mermaids were real they'd need to keep their gills wet ... or else they'd dry out and--#--they'd be unable to breathe underwater as a result#so I feel the Mer in my lore would need to return to their Mer form and be in water fairly often ...#...
