They are so close and yet so far way from each other!#Fundamentally they *agree* about many things - but JC now has to play the role of someone more 'mature'.#His temper is reigned in and he had to take a more nuanced approach. Whereas WWX can be far more reactionary.#JC has changed to become someone more mature (or at least he is trying).#Contrast this attitude with the scene *right* after where WWX literally goes baby mode with JYL. Rolling around going “I'm Fwee years old”.#When children are hurt we comfort them with hugs and warm food and a laugh. It's not enough when you're an adult. It's not simple anymore.#WWX is stuck in the past when everyone else is shifting and moving on! It's a depression allegory (and just...actual depression)#But we also get to see how some things have stayed the same. They still bicker about soup. They still tease. They are still together.#They all care for each other very much but they are struggling against trauma and are not equipped to talk about it.#You can't really blame WWX for being so protective over JYL. But JC is right: “You don't have a say in who she likes.”#It may have started as an arranged marriage but *she* is *choosing* what her heart wants. JC sees that. WWX cannot.#The final act of love is letting go after all.

Curly had two days to act and Swansea had two months.

I think it’s just interesting that every defense of Swansea not immediately acting are the same ones that are argued against for Curly. “He didn’t want to alert Daisuke or makes things worse for Anya either Jimmy!” I mean people also assume that about Curly and the crew. “He has to think about his plan of action and a right moment!” Again so did Curly, power and authority aside, he still would have to think of what he had to do. “He makes sure he doesn’t have to be around Jimmy!” So did Curly and they only do this to an extent, both give Jimmy more than a few opening to keep harassing Anya.

This isn’t defense of Curly nor a damnation of Swansea. Their actions are very parallel to each others in tragic and sour ways when it comes to how they approached helping Anya. In the grand scheme of it all they both did the same thing: Nothing. No action either took stopped the inevitable outcome of her death nor Jimmy’s continued damage to themself.

The only real difference is Swansea didn’t like Jimmy which is pretty substantial, but also just as damning as Curly knowing how bad Jimmy could get to an extent. He had even less of a reason to wait, even more of a reason to act seeing as he was now worried for Anya AND Daisuke. He is not bound by the possible procedure as Captain and actively does not care about what happens next. So what does it matter if he acted in the moment? Why did he wait? I think he’s just as morally complex and grey as Curly and we hold him on a pedestal that still perpetuates things in rape culture the game critiques.

It’s not just enough to dislike and be abrasive to predators/abusers like Jimmy. It’s not enough to just put yourself between them and the other person. It’s not enough to hold tensions when you know someone is vulnerable. He and Curly do the exact same things but on different sides of the coin. I ask how is it better to not turn a blind eye but still not really do anything about what you are seeing? Not until it affects you atleast…

The game makes a big point to not put men doing the bare minimum or who wait to do more on pedestals and I’m actually surprised so many are missing that point.

#like I’m sorry two months? he couldn’t have explained it at all to Daisuke?#he’s no better than Curly and it’s likely Anya found comfort in the fact that Jimmy would at least avoid being around Swansea #tho everything he went off to drink or passed out she would be acutely reminded that things are still taking precedent in his head #she is not his top concern nor is seeking justice for her like he is admittedly more concerned about Daisuke he doesn’t mention her #outside of the fact that they were def talking about what Jimmy did and likely the fact he might’ve crashed the ship but pls don’t mistake #his final acts as being majority for Anya. the game keeps showing how these men keep prioritizing things over her even when they say they #won’t and it’s sad it’s so sad that we keep trying to say but what about him like they all do it #it’s not intentional but that’s what’s also bad about it like I doubt she made a suicide plan with him two months in advance #these characters are acting to get out of this and she knows her ending is not happy if she leaves or not she’s taking that choice to do it #and hell Swansea might not have known by the way he speaks to Daisuke and Jimmy that that was her plan to khs #likely either to just keep her and Curly locked in med bay until they got rescued or died #but it’s all speculation and thinking and I can only implore people to think why are you giving Swansea more credit?#cause I see him bittersweetly so used to the negatives he cares not for futile efforts #two months vs two days and each time nothing was really done for her other than prolonging her suffering around Jimmy #Swansea slept outside utility was drunk most of the time and it’s clear Jimmy was able to have access to Anya whenever #I mean look at the teaser where they sit at the table he is far from her with Daisuke #like it’s just frustration at this point thinking any guy on that ship was doing good by Anya specifically and not for their own reasons #like at least Curly was direct on the issue he still did mostly Jack shit but Swansea doesn’t even let Jimmy know he knows #and that’s another issue in rape culture of men avoiding calling other men what they are even if they hate them like #the game plays with the idea of knowing vs acknowledging and neither truly acknowledge it as a part of their actions #against Jimmy and god no one did better than Anya for Anya. they just weren’t heinous like Jimmy #mouthwashing #mouthwashing game #curly mouthwashing #captain curly #swansea mouthwashing #anya mouthwashing #nurse anya #it’s not all men but all men can and do play a part especially in the extreme scenario mouthwashing deposits

I'm reading a mediocre, rather melodramatic novel from the 1880s--family scandals, secret heirs, all that sort of thing. There's two cousins, Georgina and Lucy. Georgina is married, Lucy isn't; Lucy gets pregnant, and they pass off the baby as Georgina's, to everyone, even her husband (he was out of the country). They name him Lucius. Later Georgina has a child of her own. They name him George. I don't think these people are very good at keeping secrets.

#and this is exactly why I'm reading mediocre novels from the 1880s #I can easily see how to improve them. this is not Beetle levels of bad but it's bad in several important ways (artistic and moral)#the only character I care much about so far is a female Jewish painter who was introduced for two lines for the purpose of being sneered at #and what I want for her is to be in a different book by somebody else (she cannot even meaningfully be said to be in this one tbh)#I take that back. I care about Lucy a bit #she's being written as a Bad Woman but none of the good women have much personality #...she's pretty much Dracula Adaptations Lucy tbh. except with no vampires. at least not yet #she's an appalling snob - awful to servants - and I *think* this is being criticized but it's not quite clear

So I'm confused about something. There was a cover story about Ms Goldenweek and other Baroque works agents breaking Crocodile out of prison but he just. Told them no? And stayed there with Mr 1 and Mr 2? I don't get why he wanted to go to Impel Down just to break out when he had the chance

I can't tell you 100% why Crocodile chose to stay in prison and go to Impel Down, but my best guess really is that he was just...

More specifically. Crocodile had lost everything. I think deep inside he might've been literally too depressed to want to go free again.

Like he does literally say that. He gave up.

He had been building his reputation as "the Hero of Alabasta" for at least 10 years at this point. He had built not just a criminal organization that he had been running for four years, but also he had been running legal business stuff (like his casino) for probably longer than that. A decade's worth of work and effort to take over a country, and most importantly, get away with it. The reason he had orchestrated that whole rebellion was so that the rebels and the royal family could "take each other out", leaving the country wide open for a World Government Official such as himself to take up. The reason Baroque Works was doing this all in secret was so that the WG never found out, otherwise they wouldn't have let him have Alabasta.

But indeed, his plans were foiled by a kid in flipflops in less than 24 hours, just at the final moment before Crocodile would win. He lost everything. And the World Government found out about what he had been planning.

So even if he escaped from that prison with his former agents, what was he going to do?

He wouldn't be able to take over Alabasta anymore because he did not have manpower (as he had lost all his goons), and having lost his financial empire he wouldn't be able to build a new army any time soon. And even if he did, now that they knew what he had done the people of Alabasta would not accept him as their new king, even if he personally assasinated Cobra and the entire family. Not to mention, the WG finding out about his plans meant that they had every fucking reason to try and stop Crocodile if he did as much as set foot on that island again. By which I mean, they could launch a Buster Call on his ass. Send all the fucking Admirals after him. And so, even if Crocodile still believed Pluton was somewhere in Alabasta and that he just had to comb through the entire desert to find it... Between the Alabastan people and the WG in the way, finding Pluton would not be easy. Especially when Robin wouldn't even be there to just point him directly to it. It could take years, if not decades, while fighting off the WG by himself. And that's while assuming Pluton was somewhere in Alabasta. Like WE the readers now know Pluton is in Wano, but since Robin didn't tell him that. All Robin said was that the Poneglyph "didn't mention the weapon", and Cobra's reaction to the name merely proved the weapon's existence in Crocodile's mind. But surely, because Crocodile is a smart young man, he'd understand there was a risk that Pluton could exist, but just not be in Alabasta, right? Like that would be a possibility too, right?

I think this is why Crocodile has given up on Alabasta. He had one opportunity at seizing the country, and he failed. And without Robin, he could spend the rest of his life combing through a haystack for a needle when there's no needle, and he'd have no idea. I think is why he explicitly says in Impel Down he no longer has "interest in that country". He won't be able to pull off another stunt like this, ever.

And that leads us back to "why not escape earlier and avoid going to Impel Down to begin with". Thanks to his status as a Shichibukai, Crocodile hasn't been on the run from the WG for like two decades. And the past 10 or so years he has seemingly lived a life of luxury in his funny little casino. But now, having lost everything, he'd be back on the run. And because he's a world famous former "hero of the people", there would be nowhere he'd be able to go where people would not recognize him and send the marines after him. So he'd be on the run, for the rest of his life or until he'd get capture again. And mind you, the guy does not trust anyone, so he'd be on the run alone. Without any purpose or goal.

And you might be thinking, "Daz and the rest of BW was still there!", yeah, arguably true. But at this point Crocodile had no reason to trust any of them. Like personally, I think the reason Crocodile ended up taking a liking to Daz was BECAUSE he chose to follow him to Impel Down when he really did not have to. Like Daz showed an unusual level of loyalty to Crocodile, and I think Crocodile recognized that. That's why Daz is still with Croc, post-timeskip. But Miss Goldenweek and co? Crocodile had no reason to believe they wouldn't betray him if given a chance and a reason. And if the WG would come chasing his ass, they'd have plenty of reason to try and betray Croc (handing Crocodile over to spare their own lives). Not to mention, when they come release their former boss from jail, what did Miss Goldenweek say?

"Let's do Baroque Works again"

As I've already explained in detail, I think we might know why Crocodile wasn't interested in being Baroque Works' "boss" again.

So. Yeah. If in Crocodile's mind he'd be on the run from the Government for the first time in two decades all alone, in a situation where rebuilding what he had before would be bloody hard if not downright impossible, and he wouldn't be able to obtain what he had spent the last decade working for regardless...

Taking the L and just going to prison might've been the easier option

Maybe he might've chosen to escape after all?))#Other option: Crocodile escaping with them would mean the agents would be in much more danger than they'd be without him #Like the WG wouldn't send tons of marines after the individual agents if they all scattered to the winds #But if they all stuck together they'd become a bigger target. And even more so if Crocodile was there to lead them #And like. IDK if Crocodile was willing to leave out Goldenweek from the assassination order and spare her... Maybe this was the same #Maybe he wanted to spare Goldenweek (and the rest?) from being put into danger by going with them?#I dunno man this reptile has far too many layers to him I can't tell what's going on in his head

#WPP #WPP2 #Portal #I've only just revived GLaDOS (obviously had to play at least that far lol) but like hhnnnrgng <3 <3 #The graphics! The space! The levels from Portal 1! The cutesy Aperture animations and the three(!) voice actors!#I've completely fallen in love with GLaD's P1 design but honestly what could possibly compare to her P2 design she's so pretty <3 <3 #Stepping over her corpse to wake her up I'm normal I'm fine #And that we start in Test Chamber 1 and then fast track to 19 and end up in the toxic goo ravine fjdlsakfjsdf #I'm Fine I Swear #I forgot so many little details like the floor falling out or the buzz of the portal device (don't like but! my timephoon hot take is that the episode was literally fine, it's the episodes that came AFTER it that fucked things up

#the final confrontation where louie and della say that shit to eachother? peak televesion #the next episodes shouldve. yk. resolved that #but by having the premise be “the entire family is goign to disneyland and leaving louie behind” uh...?#i get what they were going for but they fumbled so hard #timephoon introduces a lot of conflicts that the next episodes SHOULD have resolved #but they didn't. at least not well #like della and louie should've had a proper conversation #and also i dont think della was wrong for steppin in at the end of timephoon like that was warranted #her wording and execution? far from perfect #but she's trying #also. timphoon was fine yes but it could have been way better still #i would have preffered it if they went more in depth about the struggles of motherhood and how beakley and della both felt about it #give me beakley being vulnerable and opening up about how hard its been raising webby alone and how she GETS it #she gets not knowing what to do #she was a spy #she has no idea how to be soft and motherly but she's learned and she's trying and she did it alone #and she doesn't want della to be as alone as she was so she tries to help #but she's a certified grizzled ex spy so fuck if she knows how to be gentle about it #so it just makes della MORE insecur because beakley seems to have it all together #and i wish there was a scene where they could talk to eachother and beakley could admit that she doesn't #she's made mistakes she's fucked up but she's trying and aren't they all?#but yeah. for what timephoon was #it wasn't bad #but the following episodes fumbled #i forget if it was in timephoon or next erpisode were we got della telling louie to shape up or he couldn't be part of the family #like again that was BAD! #16.2 Rachel

Bam stepped into the bare and bleak room of an old rented house on the outskirts. The only thing of interest was a simple wooden chair in the center of the room that was occupied by none other than Rachel. Her head was hung low and her wrists were tied behind her around the chair backrest. Mr. Agni reasoned he had to put her to sleep to avoid unnecessary fights, and assured Bam that she'd wake up soon enough.

Bam could hear Mr. Agni and Grace-hyung talking just outside of the room. It seemed like Mr. Agni had to go somewhere, since they exchanged goodbyes not long after. He shifted his focus back to Rachel and took a closer look at her wrists. He couldn't help but think that the rope was too much. It shouldn't be necessary for this conversation, right? It'd only upset her and he hated it when she did.

So he kneeled down and began to untie the rope. When he looked up, he noticed that Hyung was eyeing him warily. However, he just stood there by the door, not making any move to stop him.

Just right after he was done with the knot, Rachel stirred awake and familiar yellow eyes found him. She jerked away, screaming, "Wh– what do you want from me!"

Bam let the silence linger. Giving her time to regain her bearing and seek the answer herself.

Her face got a few shades paler as if she had seen a ghost. Or maybe, in a way, she did.

"Rachel," Bam muttered.

Shock flashed in her eyes before it settled to understanding. "Bam?" Rachel's voice was impossibly soft and sweet, yet it sounded so wrong. "Oh Bam, you're alive! I'm so glad."

…Was she though? She pushed him to his supposed death. But her face was a mix of relief and unbelief. Bam didn't know which was the real her anymore.

"Bam, we have to get out of here. I was kidnapped by a bad person. Quick, before he returns."

"You're not going anywhere." An unfamiliar voice joined them as Hyung finally stepped into the room. The lighthouse floating beside him must've acted as a voice changer. His hat was pulled down low underneath his hoodie, shadowing his face from view.

Rachel didn't seem to notice Grace's presence until then, if the shock on her face was anything to go by.

"Well then, Bam. Go ahead and ask her," Grace encouraged.

It was the first time he had heard Hyung's cold tone; emotionless and distant that sent shivers down his spine. But that thought could wait for later, because currently he finally had the chance to ask a question that had been plaguing him for the past six years.

"Why did you betray me, Rachel?"

Rachel no longer looked at him as sweetly. "What do you mean, Bam? I've never betrayed you."

"That day, you pushed me out of the bubble."

Rachel's eyes watered as she clenched her hand on her chest, "I was trying to save you from the monster attack. But I lost my balance and accidentally pushed you too hard." She looked away guiltily, voice now just above a whisper. "I had a nightmare about it every time I closed my eyes. I'm truly sorry, Bam."

"That's…" Bam was sure he had defeated the monster. Unless Rachel had mistaken some random fish as a threat? It could make sense, but things were still not adding up. "I saw you stand on your feet, at least explain to me why that is possible."

Rachel furrowed her eyebrows. "I think you remember it wrong."

"No! I know what I saw."

"And so am I!"

"Don't lie to me, Rachel." Bam begged. He was trying to find proof to justify her actions, but why did it only prove that Mr. Agni was right about her? About how she faked her disability to stab him in the back and take advantage of their friends. "You're the one who taught me that lying was bad, so are you trying to get me to think you're a bad person?"

"No, Bam–"

"Tell me, Rachel. Why did you try to kill me?" Bam felt his vision start to blur as tears trickled down his cheeks. It just dawned on him that the foul clenching feeling of his heart was the feeling of betrayal, from someone he trusted and looked up to, no less. "What did I do to you?"

Rachel didn't reply right away. But when she spoke, Bam's world crumbled. "The star…I want to shine as bright as it is rumored to be. But when you're around, I was nothing but a shadow because you took all the light. You who are chosen and loved by many, who wouldn't feel envy?" She gave a weak laugh and stood up. "You're right. I've been faking my injury. But this is what it takes to climb the tower for the unchosen. Innocence wouldn't get you this high, so I'm sure you're just as bad as I am."

Bam looked at his hands which had just recently been bathed in the blood of his opponent. He could still feel the stickiness that clung to his skin and he felt the urge to scrub his hands clean like he did the night before. So he was a bad person now? Was he doomed to never have friends again?

Bam caught an angry scowl on Rachel's lips as she walked past Grace and through the door. Grace tried to go after her but Bam quickly reached out and pulled on his hoodie to stop him from leaving. He didn't want to be left alone with her lingering words.

im going into my new work tomorrow, first time ever😐

#i was supposed to go in yesterday but um #so basically i did whatever training i was never even aware existed on a platform i was never told of #which has progress for every lil step i do so my manager literally could see i hadnt even logged on n couldve warned me any time #but never did 4 some reason. like even a days notice like heyyy have u gotta blah done n not as im abt to exit to work #BUT ANYWAYS so i tell her i got it done n shes like awesome i make new schedule (since she said we have 2 completely rid the old one #i dont get an update until 4 days later. all she did was add THREE training days (im supposed to have 6 cus it's a hard job)#on TOP of my old schedule. so i have 3 days i know are training days and then a solo day bcs that solo day was going off my old schedule #so it's like. which days do i go on then. bcs u said i cant come in at all bcs we'll have to make a completely new schedule #and then the new schedule is just. 3 added days. on top of my old one #sunday i was scheduled for training & there was No trainer scheduled with me. it was just me #sunday wasnt one of the 3 new days added. it was from the old schedule she literally told me to ignore #n then all a sudden today i get an email from someone who was supposed to be training me (name not even on the schedule tho)#n shes like hey im in the building are u lost or smthing :)?' mind u im asleep . so she probably thot she was wasting her time for a good hr #i emailed her an apology n an explanation but UGH r u fucking serious?? IF I KNEW THAT WAS A (NEW) TRAINING DAY I WOULDVE WENT #I JUST WANT TO GET USED TO THIS NEW THING & IT'S JUST GETTING FUCKED LIKE I DONT EVEN HAVE A BADGE YET BRO #like i was suspicious of going in sunday bcs it wouldve lined up nicely with the 3 added training days #but manager TOLD me she was adding a whole new training schedule! i double check n all she added were THREE days! thats it!#how was *i* supposed to know sunday was supposed to be 1 of those days when ive been staying at home ignoring the schedule u said 2 #BCS U SAID 2. AND ALSO. THERE WAS NO TRAINER ON THE SCHEDULE.#even tho the drive is far. i wouldve driven up there today to see if i could shadow if i had known there was someone to shadow there #bcs even if i was wrong abt the day 2 come in at least i wouldnt waste my time but i didnt even know if there was someone there with a #trainer title. so i just missed a day i didnt even know i rlly had. FOR NOTHING. UGHH. I FEEL SO STUPID. I HATE MISCOMMUNICATION #im so scared of coming in now. sverybodys gonna think im dum n what if i have issues training then theyre gonna be like #we spent all this time on bro n he had all this time 2 prepare n he still sucks like damn we should just give up #i would 2 but i hate not seeing things to completion so. ugh. hate it here. idk what 2 say. i have seen a lot of headcanons (& fics!) about bucky doing crochet or knitting that i LOVE but i also need everyone to consider --

steve watching his mother doing irish crochet; maybe she even teaches him some simple things when he's sick and needs something to occupy him so he'll sit still and rest; its a creative outlet for sarah and that artistic streak is something she and steve share almost a century later, crochet comes back into fashion with millennials and gen-z, and steve looks up a youtube tutorial. he doesn't have many physical things left from his mom; but he can make some stuff that she would have loved and it helps him feel close to her.

Dear god my little sister has no real world perspective on politics

A young woman working a firmly middle class job who still lives with her parents, no expenses, never had to struggle with money, will never be rich either, and her political opinions boil down to "we shouldn't spend more money on pensions because it will come out of my taxes"

Talking about anything political with her is so insanely frustrating like she really thinks that she is the one most affected by taxes, and simultaneously she thinks that she's in danger of poverty at an old age. Girl there are politicians who want to fight elderly poverty but you think they're trying to steal from you???

Here are my political thoughts. I'm not putting it under a read more and I'm not tagging it!! I know a lot of people come here to give themselves a break from real world stuff but sometimes you gotta deal with it (like right now)

To those in the US: I hope you are okay, get resources for your mental health if needed. Be scared, be pissed off. Don't let anyone tell you your feelings aren't valid because anyone that is queer or disabled or a poc is in for an even bumpier ride than usual.

If you are able: I hope you are involved and engaged in your community because there is no getting progressives into the White House without getting them in at the local level first and that's where you can make the biggest changes. Volunteer with youth or a campaign you feel good about. The DSA have a lot of different chapters in different states if that's your jam.

Remember that progress takes time and does not happen overnight or even over a few years. It is slow as hell and I know that sucks, but we have to be in this for the long haul and for future generations.

The rest of the world: we fucked up for real (again). Sorry for the fallout your countries will inevitably face.
