look, i love jmart, but even with 5 seasons of development they still somehow managed to feel rushed?

i disagree in that their relationship being unhealthy is a bad thing for them, because like the appeal of podcasts for me is the fucked up relationships. fucked up characters = fucked up relationships, yknow? like john and arthur from malevolent, normally, they'd hate each other without much of a second thought, but that's not the point, they love each other despite that, and that kind of extends to jmart for me.

i also totally agree with the fandom criticism, woobifying jon is like the only tma content i see on twt and it is soooooo annoying.

my personal qualms with tma however is in part the lore decisions and how the fandom treats the lore (and also the whole podcast).

s1 is easily the best season, mostly because you have no fucking idea what's going on, but after s2 things really start feeling like they're being drawn out, at least to me? like i think season 3-4 couldve been one thing, and um. season 5 is fun if you like jmart and the eye ig. i know most of this is a gross oversimplification (not forgetting yall basira&daisy fans) but after the core cast of season 1-2 i could not really get the other characters being fundamental in the story (not georgie. i love georgie)

don't get me wrong, the not-sasha arc was amazing! but after tim died, and martin fucked off for most of a season being sad, i was a bit bored. the buried isnt interesting to me sorry.

and also they under-utilize basically every fear, including the eye, and the one that upsets me the most is the stranger. oh what is it? circus and clowns ig. LIKE OPEN UP YOUR EYES THE WORLD IS OPEN TO YOU THE UNCANNY VALLEY AS SO MANY NICHES PLEASE

and by the end of the show, it just feels like they keep rotating the same 3 fears, and the others just kind fade into the bg

and then there's the fandom. i'm sorry but some of you guys act like tma is the end-all-be-all of fiction horror podcasts. when it's just not. sorry, but the magnus archives, after s1, just isnt scary. you know what's going on, the fears! which are neatly tied into these categories of oddities!

and the show explicitly states that the 14 fears categorization is arbitrary and that they all bleed into one another, but the fandom just. ignores that? like i've heard so many people go to other podcasts and say ''oh x is so eye avatar-coded!!'' and then x just has some vague eye symbolism that isnt even the point (this is about arthur lester)

and like i don't understand how tma manages to be the most mainstream fiction podcast nowadays, when welcome to night vale is right there ! and yes, i am implying that wtnv is objectively better than tma, because wtnv despite running for 12 goddamn years has never bored me with an episode, and it has roughly the same amounts of episodes! they both have similar formats that could repetitive quick (radio show vs statements) and even though i'd say statements have more creative freedom, wtnv still manages to not be boring. this might also just be a fact of better and more varied authors but hey, this is just my opinion

Hi! You can ignore this if you don’t want my opinion, basically what I’ve noticed that bg stand that either only listen to one group or just bgs in general are obsessive over the group and gg stans, specifically who only stan one group as similar in nature, though I have personally seen it less. (Again, not all so please take with a grain of salt)

Those who are multi stan and listen to both groups tend to be less sensitive about views and awards because at that point you see how much the industry hates ggs when they’re not doing exactly what they think they should be doing or too old to infantalize, but also see the obsessive stans just put down other fans if they’re not streaming a song hundreds of time a day. Also, can I say that the fact that mass buying albums is a thing, and incentivized by companies, is so horrible in fanning these flames. It’s music y’all don’t make it your only personality trait.

I also believe views and streams mean nothing if the first 80,000 are done in three days and the other 20,000 are done in six months. Like, what made you love it so much for a three days and never listen to it again?

i mostly agree, but tbh i don't really see that many obsessive girl group stans that behave the same way (with the exception of blinks).

tbh. as someone who has been a kpop fan since 2012, streaming culture is new. and i'm pretty sure it was invented by army and really weaponized by them in 2020.

i have very select feelings abt yellow so i did one for pre-starclan and post-starclan yellowfang.

pre: one of the best chars from the first arc. i think her SE damages her character in a few ways but i liked the parts where she interacted with brokenkit. she was a fun addition to the cast and her death is one of the saddest moments in the series. i dont know how canon this is but ive heard that brokenstar was a punishment for the skyclan exile and it makes me sad that her ancestors (who she dedicated her entire life to) punished her severely for mistakes that werent her own. i like sad women.

post: some of yall have headcanons for why yellow acts the way she does in starclan but none of that is intentional nor was it meant to be b4 the website tried to take credit for accidental characterization. she was hit hard by the oots-stupify beam and that hurts my soul. she manipulates firestar kid's and the authors continue to ignore this fact. what did they do to you girl

Bluestar: idc that her SE has problems i fucking love her character and i like Bluestar's Prophecy. wc fans hate flawed women characters so ofc she gets treated for dogshit by a corner of the fandom because she was mean to a serial child abuser. besides that shes also oversaturated and suffers from the same starclan is stupid disease that yellowfang has to deal with. i wish her SE didnt make her decision to give away her kits dumb

Ferncloud: dont really have strong feelings about this gal. the way she died was ass and her relationship with dustpelt is borderline creepy. three of her kids died in tnp and that fucks me up. i appreciate her role in taking care of the kits, though. she was a good bg character.

Good morning time to talk about blizzard.

So I had unsubbed months ago because my computer could no longer even handle the engine which is a dodged bullet in this case I suppose given the new information dealing with activison-blizzard's allegations on their treatment of women and women of colour.

Given the leeching off of cultural backgrounds, the addition of stereotypes often associated with said cultural bgs and the up until recently only white or white coded characters as prominent characters: it's obvious World of Warcraft nor its company was ever made for anyone in mind aside from the ever overrated White Cismale audience.

It's been obvious even before this came out on such a large scale, but in my personal experience ( and I can only talk about my own because I do not speak for all women of colour ), I merely grinned a bared it because I loved the game so much. I loved the characters I made as a result of their rich lore, and I even loved the characters they had built despite them being loose caricatures of people of colour because they had heart.

I ignored a lot of things that could be considered "small" because I truly thought that with the announcement of finally more customizable options to add poc features to the player character and the addition of a trans character were steps that blizzard were taking to shed its "gamer boy" skin from all those years ago and maybe it was. Maybe there are people in that company who really pushed to give us what an incredibly ignored section of the community were asking for. But I know it was reluctantly. I know it was half assed and I also know, it was years too fucking late.

Other games have done better at their very conception, something blizzard struggled to do for its lengthy lifespan and billions of fucking dollars and for what? So you can slap cornrows that are like thirteen inches apart on a toon or afros the shape of meatballs?

For what, to treat the people who love your game and company behind closed doors like subhuman pieces of shit and reward your loser basement lurkers with "cubicle crawls" and videogame time? Yall literally drove someone to end their lives, because you couldn't just run your business like an actual fucking business and make sure your employees worked in a safe environment thinking what...that no one would find out? This isn't back in the day where you could do dirt in the broad fucking daylight and never get caught you googly eyed bozos.

Closing statements are these: I'm not sure what I'm going to do. I loved that game with all my heart, but I can't see myself giving money freely to people that actually literally don't fucking respect my race, gender, or my ethnicity while knowing about it. If others still want to play that's on them, and I'm sure as hell not going to sit here and pretend like if they announced a cool looking expac that I won't feel the desire to play. I know I will, I know I'll want to sign on and take nylnysa and lysirae everywhere and conquer things and laugh with my friends and transmogify and get phat lootz. But I also know it won't be the right thing to do. It hurts me a lot to think my favorite game could have been made by actual scum of the earth.

My blogs will still exist on blizzard's old lore, but I think shawdowlands will be their last campaign. Yall not getting my money.
